We really enjoyed our stay at the Star Motel. The motel was clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the location, price, and free parking. The hop-on hop-off stops are close by. Easy walk down to Fort Mason. The neighborhood was quiet and had many restaurants near by. Definitely try Ly's Vietnamese next door. Their food is great and affordable. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family and will book again.

Location and parking. Size and layout of room. Missed housekeeping. Automatic light in bathroom (annoying in the middle of the night).

The facility is clean. The room has been updated and the free parking is amazing and rare in SF. The staff was very friendly and held my bags when I arrived to early to check in as well as the day I checked out when I needed to do a few meetings before flying out. I could hear everything from outside, nextdoor and above my room. Also, my air conditioner wasn't working correctly.

Star Motel is one of the most underrated properties in San Francisco. If you're looking for a no-frills, simple base to explore the city, this is a great pick - but if you want something with more vibes, it may not be the right fit. For the price, you absolutely get what you pay for. Free parking in SF alone is a massive win, plus it's clean and walkable to restaurants and major sites. They also really do their best to accommodate early check-in or late check-out if possible. Highly recommend. Rooms are small, but for San Francisco and the price point, it's expected.
