The hotel is generally well-liked for its great location, clean and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. However, some guests have issues with the service, noise, and certain amenities like the app and elevators.

Great service, amenities and room. Safe neighborhood and a brief walk to local venues.

The property is older but the room was clean and that is the most important part for me. Gym facilities were decent. Overall a good stay for the money

Excellent room and staff.

Perfect location, staff so nice and accommodating. The food at the bar and the drinks delicious. And the bar tender was the nicest guy

Amazing location on Nob Hill. Experience a glamorous neighborhood, but at reasonable prices. The staff are very helpful, kind, and accommodating. I’ll be back.

We enjoyed our stay at the Stanford Court Hotel in San Francisco in May 2026. The location is great- atop Nob Hill in walking distance to Financial District, North End, Fisherman’s Wharf etc. It’s a downhill walk to go anywhere but a steep walk back up. We recommend getting a ride back! Our room was a corner room on the 8th floor with a fantastic view of the city. The room was spacious and quiet. The staff were super friendly. We ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was delicious. The egg sandwich was huge and tasty. The price is very good for this area. We visit SF often to see our son so we will definitely stay there again.

Great location, big suite and king bed. Good skyline view on 4th floor. Check in was 4, room was not ready until 5pm which was exhausting. Hot Buffet was pricey for scrambled eggs and pancakes, opt for the al a carte menu.

My stay at The Stanford Court Hotel was nothing less than a pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived the staff was kind, attentive, and very helpful. Our room was clean, spacious, and provided everything we needed. The towel warmer was a huge plus and a pleasant surprise. Overall, great experience and will stay again if I ever find myself in the city again.

- 4/5
Great location, good value-for-money, but now with lots of “nickel & dime” charges like $50 for early check-in and without a doubt the strangest, most convoluted and complicated charges for breakfast this road warrior has ever experienced. Still I would return to The Stanford Court.
- 5/5
We will definitely stay here again.

Location and the quality renovations of an historic property. $75 valet parking seemed a bit too pricey.

Super comfy king size bed. The interior room was much quieter than our usual exterior room. One of the three elevators was out of service, and there were always long lines and very long waits to use the elevator. Also, the free coffee had run out by 10:30 AM which annoyed my husband.

Very comfortable bed, large room and good location. Even though the front desk was working hard, there was often some wait at the front desk. One elevator was in maintenance, and the other two elevators were slow. When I arrived, even though my room was ready, I would have had to pay an early check-in fee if I wanted to access the room before 14:00. That feels like nickel-and-diming and is not great for a first contact.

The property was right by Chinatown so I love that I could walk around all day and try delicious food nearby. I had found hair left by the last guest in the shower. Another thing was how hard it was to dispense the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. It didn’t break my stay just a little annoying. I had an amazing time and will rebook!

The hotel had a nice vibe and lots of references to local culture and geography. Rooms were relatively spacious and had varied seating options. Our room faced the cable car line, which kept waking us up.

Loved the location so much! Room was nice, simple, but great size, clean and had everything you needed.

We booked last minute due to needing to be close to UCSF for a family emergency. The two bedroom apartment with kitchen came in handy for our stay. We were close to stores and restaurants as well. The hotel doesn’t have parking but there is a parking lot just across the street that was convenient. It’s less than a mile to UCSF and a quick 5 minute or less Uber ride. Staff were friendly and helpful. They were fully booked for part of our stay so we had to move to a different hotel and couldn’t wait to get back after the weekend. I found this place online but hospital staff also recommended it.
- 4.5/5
There were a large number of fresh breakfast offerings. Valet parking attendants charged my electric car each night. The elevators were being serviced, so there was a a wait for working elevators at busy times.

Second time I’ve stayed at the Stanford Court and it was as good as the last time. My room had wonderful views of the city, the bed was comfortable, and the rooms and property were nice and tidy. I visit SF often and this is my go to since it’s close to downtown and around a 10 minutes drive to famous landmarks. The neighborhood is has steep hills so be sure to pack comfortable shoes.
- 4.5/5
The valet parking rate is quite high—it costs $75 per night.

The location is perfect, easy to access and the Deluxe room are so comfortable and spacious. Beds are also excellent Staff was not really welcoming and it took 40 min to get my car from the valet, almost been in trouble to get my flight.

Great location , super safe, right across from the boujee hotel with the gingerbread house! We loved the hotel staff! They give you free water bottles whenever you want them and they were very kind and easy to communicate with! Valet service was fast and efficient and great dudes! Loved the hotel itself! Old but has been renovated with the new amenities! The elevators are a bit slow HOWEVER we found the elevator the staff use and were told we could use it too….game changer! My kids LOVED riding in that elevator. Very clean, very classy and very much affordable compared to The other hotels around it!

This is a “4” star hotel but there are no 4 star amenities. The initial front desk person was rude. There’s a tier for breakfasts that isn’t disclosed on Expedia OR on their own website. The whole place smells odd. They have no room service or areas to get cold sodas, water. (The only helpful staff were at the bar and at the cash register for the breakfast area).
- 2/5
Very poor, unwell prepared breakfast. Breakfast for my kid doesn't include even an orange juice neither milk. I have to pay extra $5 to get orange juice. I hope Expedia stop recommending such hotel to their loyal customer.

Location on Nob Hill The thermostat in our room was broken. They gave us a smaller, darker room. Sees to me like you’d want to give us a better room since the error was yours.
- 3/5
Room was reasonable, early check in was $50 extra and parking was $85 a night with tax. I would say the rooms could be a little cleaner and the shower is a little short. Overall a great location and was super safe and felt pretty local to what we wanted to do.
- 5/5
I would highly recommend this property. This staff was warm and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean.

Very easy check in, fantastic comfortable and spacious room with good shower. The only comment I would make is that the lifts felt in need of updating but otherwise all was excellent
- 5/5
Did not eat breakfast there
- 4/5
Visit the City. We received breakfast vouchers for our 5 night stay which was very nice. Staff was very friendly as usual. Our room was spacious but the bathroom was dated. We’ve had rooms with walk in showers on previous stays which we liked better than a tub shower.
- 4/5
If they are calling the snack bar/deli that selection behind check-in, that's a little generous. There is a trolley stop by the hotel but take heed that the trolley is $9 one-way, $15 unlimited. When they say walkable, take into account the steep hills. It would have been nice to be provided more info about traveling around. I spent $30.00 using the cable car until i realized i could buy a Muni day pass for all transport & cable car for $35 & I think they have a 3-day pass. Coffee maker & safe in room are nice touches. The mini-fridge is not for food storage, it says that on it. It is just to keep things "chilled". I also found the rooms a little dark but it could be because I was facing a building.
- 3/5
Everything was satisfactory except for the shower which was AWFUL!!!!!!!!! no water pressure, had to wait forever for hot water. ice machine was two floors and away, elevators were janky and almost got stuck in one. The hotel desperately needs to be updated. However! for the price, it was good except for the shower. Staff was very nice & efficient. Room was very clean.

Excellent breakfast, complimentary coffee, tea. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bar staff was friendly.
- 5/5

- 4/5
Rooms looked dated and tired. Not as updated as I would have expected. Lobby is nice and open though.
- 4/5
Short weekend stay for a wedding. Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom was also in great shape, nice water pressure in the shower, towels above average. Room does not have a closet, rather a hanging rack with drawers underneath. Bed was comfortable (queen size). Our room faced Powell Street, so we could hear some traffic and the cable cars (very SF) but this did not really bother us. Being on Nob Hill, it was a hilly walk to find food away from the hotel. We did enjoy a late dinner and drink in the lobby restaurant. Also did the b’fast buffet our last morning….not sure it was really worth $36/pp….except for the cappuccino machine, not much different from a motel b’fast.
- 5/5
The room was excellent, thank goodness it was close to the service elevator because the regular elevator was too far for my handicapped ability. Sometimes the parking people had to be tracked down but usually not too far. Mixed opinion on the front desk, some were absolute rock stars while others were less than great but certainly accomodating.
- 5/5
Please was nice.
- 5/5
My room view was spectacular but the stained carpets were a turn off in the hallway and the property isn’t in the best condition.

- 5/5
The location was perfect for exploring San Francisco. The property was immaculate and the service was excellent!
- 2/5
Great sitting space in the lobby/bar area. Other than that carpet was coming up and the bathroom tub was old and prices were flaking off and yellowed
- 4/5
This was my second stay at this property. It is a great value. Conveniently situated. This is an older hotel which does not feel or show its age, elevators excepted. Rooms are very nice, clean and updated, some with excellent city scape views. The staff is always friendly and attentive from front desk, to valet to housekeeping and restaurant. There is a nice lobby which continues on into a bar and open restaurant seating. Breakfast options are expansive and food quality is very good. There is a well equipped fitness room with expansive city views and a fresh water dispenser. Overall this property is hard to beat when in San Francisco.
- 5/5
Breakfast sandwiches were very good. Bed was comfortable. Check in and out fast and smooth.

We had an incident that was shocking to believe, I had bought an expensive smoked salmon gift from Canada to gift the CEO of a top tech company and left it in a secure place in my car trunk and unfortunately they took it out without my permission and lost it. It was devastating as I had planned this trip for 3 months with this CEO. Other than that great hotel and front desk people are wonderful.

Decent rooms at a great price. We love this place for it's location, the high quality hotel gym, and access to low-cost street parking options in the immediate area (if you're lucky and time it right!).

- 3/5
They should save the room that’s already been booked.
- 3/5
While our stay was generally pleasant and the bed was quite comfortable, we were not happy about our attempt to get an early check-in. They had rooms available for an early check-in, yet wanted an additional $50 for 3 additional hours. I have not only checked in early at hotels at no extra expense, but I've also been bumped up to a suite at the same time at no additional cost. Stanford Court can do better.
- 5/5
I loved it very San Francisco lived there for many years and came back so it was a nice treat.
- 2/5
Room amenities was bare for the price they charge, elevator was broken the whole time so i had to take the stairs everyday. No in room dining. The breakfast was very subpar
- 4/5
My rating would have been excellent but the elevatora weren’t working in our last day. Walkinf up 5 flts of ataira was not fun. However, the hotel did give us a credit for the inconvenience.
- 4/5
Everything was great with the exception of the parking valet. We waited 20 minutes for our car, which was parked in a garage almost a half mile away. The valets have to walk to the garage to get the cars which takes a long time.

Love this hotel. Our room had a spectacular bay view. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The location can be beat. It is so easy to get around the city and there is everything you need in walking distance.
- 5/5
room was great! staff was friendly. although the parking fee was outrages
- 3/5
For the cost it didn’t really measure up to what we expected.
- 4/5
Fantastic staff, clean but very noisy room heater banged every time it ran and I could hear people in the hallway. I could also hear construction starting at 7 am. If not for that, I would give them 5 stars based on staff, comfort, and decor
- 2/5
The room temperature dropped to 58°F, and we had no choice but to call again to request a room change. The night staff responded very slowly, and her tone over the phone sounded impatient, which made the situation even more unpleasant. Fortunately, we were eventually moved to a king room with a functioning heater—thank goodness—but the overall experience before that was quite disappointing.

We arrived a little early and they graciously held our luggage for us while we wandered the city. When we checked in, the front desk girl kindly upgraded us to a corner room with a beautiful view. The room was very spacious and clean, and we loved the ambiance of the hotel. The location was great as it was kind of central to many things we wanted to do. We walked a lot and took the bus a lot and it was very easy to find our way around.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, easy access to transit, walkable distance from a lot of popular spots
- 4/5
Nice hotel, comfortable, small rooms...and wish they had robes.
- 3/5
The room and the staff were nice. Disappointed that the breakfast was not included with the price of the room, so high, and then another $75 for parking.
- 5/5
Great stay. Rooms were quiet and clean. Staff was all very friendly. Super easy check in. I didn’t eat there but the breakfast buffet was out and on time/busy every morning if you wanted something convenient. They were doing work on the elevators but you were able to use the service elevators too (which were actually closer to my room). This hotel was across the street from a conference I was attending all week at a different hotel and significantly cheaper/a much better bargain. Would stay again !
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
In desperate need of refurbishment.
- 4/5
Staff was great
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and courteous.
- 4/5
Really good downtown option. The elevators need some work though. Seem to be down quite a bit which may be frustration during busy hours.
- 3/5
The elevators are under renovation which made things inconvenient. The pictures in the booking system make things look much nicer then they are. Bathroom light was terrible. Things in the room looked old and dingy.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel in a great location—if you can handle San Francisco’s famous hills! Trolleys run nearby.
- 4/5
Fun to try a new place to stay. Property is near both cable car lines. Room is clean with windows that open which is nice for fresh air. Elevator was very old and slow, we ended up taking the stairs most of our stay.
- 5/5
I have stayed multiple times and this hotel always hits it out of the park. Perfect location, beautiful views, spacious rooms, clean and quiet, friendly staff. I love it! Looking for are to my next stay.
- 4/5
Great location! Comfortable bed, no issues, all good!
- 3/5
Old hotel, need renovations
- 3/5
Hotel has clearly seen better days but is struggling to meet the standards advertised. Staff were excellent, the view across the city (which I paid for) was amazing. The hotel is doing the bare minimum to keep its rating. I expected better.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, especially at the breakfast buffet !
- 4/5
Nice hotel and well located. I’ve stayed there a few times and like it but the only thing wrong is the elevators always seem to be broken.
- 4/5
The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel location is great and rooms are clean with quality bedding. The elevators are in disrepair frequently. The property is great but needs a freshen up…
- 3/5
Place is run down. Only one of three elevators worked. The room could have been cleaner.
- 5/5
Love the safety and amenities in this hotel!
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel. Room nice but no view of the bay. Only one working guest elevator.
- 5/5
Staff members were helpful. Room was clean.
- 5/5
It looked like the carpet in the hallways had a big bleached spot.
- 1/5
Upon check in we did not get the room we booked. We requested a change and were put in a slightly better room but were made to feel like we were being a pain. The next day we were finally put in the room we booked. We were not offered a complimentary upgrade or drinks as per our Expedia VIP status. Our final room however was lovely - clean, big and very comfortable. The view was great. A little noisy from the street but this was okay. The housekeeping staff are amazing! So friendly and kept our room perfectly. Also acknowledged our request to be eco friendly and not change towels etc. When are the lifts to be fixed? It’s been months now with no resolve. Not great.
- 5/5
Excellent stay!
- 3/5
Only one working elevator. Staff was friendly.
- 1/5
Nice hotel - Good location - was charged
- 1/5
Very dirty carpet and elevator's broken! Bedding very uncomfortable!
- 5/5
Everyone was very helpful, friendly and kind
- 5/5
Very nice hotel in convenient location.
- 3/5
Elevators were down the entire stay and hotel did very little to accommodate the inconvenience. We had to use the service elevator the entire time which were dirty and hard to locate.
- 5/5
excellent service and staff
- 4/5
Clean room, enjoyed the morning coffee and the gym was great. The peloton bikes were a bonus. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet.
- 5/5
Check in staff was excellent
- 5/5
Stamford is my go to. Old school building and friendly staff. Don’t miss out on this spot.
- 3/5
The rooms and floors are a bit tired, but cleanliness was great and no issue. Staff were also helpful and friendly. Property needs some work
- 4/5
This property is a great place to stay in Nob Hill. The rooms are super clean, the staff is exceptionally friendly and the hotel is laid out very nicely. My biggest complaint is that they had one functioning elevator for the six nights that we stayed. And I was told by other guest that this was a frequent problem. So if you’re planning on staying there, I recommend you ask for a lower floor.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff.
- 2/5
The rooms are outdated. Service and Staff were outstanding; they would come and get my room done every day in the mornings
- 4/5
Gym was decent for a hotel gym, and the staff were accommodating. Only issue we had then, was the one working elevator, though we learned that the service elevators were also made accessible to guests. Had one minor incident with being told that I couldn’t stay in the vicinity of the lobby or parking area, in the early mornings while waiting for plans with friends.
- 5/5
Location was prime and the front desk staff were always very nice, friendly and accommodating. We got a voucher for comp breakfast one day from the front desk which was really nice of them. I like that check out is at 12pm. We got a nice room too. The elevators were a bit slow at times 2/3 working but it wasn’t a big deal as the hotel is only 8 floors and we were on 5th. I wish the bar had longer hours, it is open from 4pm to 10 pm. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Great place to stay! Close to theatres and awesome restaurants. Will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Our 3rd time here. Not as grand as it was 20 years ago but still very comfortable. Good location and very comfortable rooms.
- 5/5
Good stay- no upgrades
- 4/5
Overall, it was an ok stay, but it needs some updating. The rooms & bathrooms are dated. One lift out of order all week and the other ones had a mind of their own (I got stuck once and it seems to open on floors you didn't choose). Breakfast is very expensive for what it is. Gym was good.
- 5/5
Great Location in San Francisco
- 3/5
This is an older property. Ground level rooms are small, super basic, and older. Location is good.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Near good sights.
- 5/5
Hotels amenities very good.
- 5/5
Love this Hotel!
- 5/5
I usually stay here while in SF! Great staff, clean, comfortable and very roomy. I would highly recommend!
- 5/5
I usually stay here while in SF! Great staff, clean, comfortable and very roomy. I would highly recommend!
- 4/5
The area is good for transport or Union square
- 5/5
Very convenient location for a base to explore SanFran
- 5/5
Good
- 1/5
Upon arrival, 2 of 3 elevators were out of service. The room was small and had a funky odor. I won’t be staying there again.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel in great central location. Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel in the heart of SF, it was a pleasant stay. The staff were extremely accomodating and treated us amazingly. Hotel and surround were safe and walkable but remember this is San Francisco so there are many hills leading up to the hotel.
- 5/5
Location was in the City and was very safe. The staff was so helpful and friendly! They didn’t know parking was included in my booking but when they looked into it, they were okay with it. It was a lovely stay. Their main elevator was very slow but offered their service elevator which was next to our room so it was so easy to get to our room on the top floor!
- 5/5
Great location and nioe modernized rooms in a historic building.
- 4/5
Staff were great and room was excellent with a comfortable bed.
- 4/5
It was a good hotel. No major issues
- 3/5
Nice hotel. It was clean and comfortable. Area is very walkable, and also easy to get to any area of the city from its location. Multiple elvators were out of service, so it took a lot of time to go up and down to our room, which was a minor inconvenience. Overall a good stay.
- 4/5
3-night stay; 2 adults and 2 teenagers in a corner two-double bed room which worked well. Excellent location at the top of Nob Hill on two historic cable car lines. Good hotel but slow lifts and the windows were filthy. Breakfast expensive but options within walking distance - Honey Honey recommended! Enjoyed the free morning coffee and chilled water in reception. Safe area.
- 5/5
Great time staying here!
- 3/5
Stanford Court is convenient for tourists if you want to do all the tourist things. There are a few close diners that serve a variety of American food and are great for families. The cable cars stop right at the corner and it's close to bus stops. The premium city-view room was lovely. Free coffee downstairs. HOWEVER, there were 3 elevators. One was not working when we arrived and another stopped working when we were there. The last one was making weird sounds, very slow, and long waits since it was the only one working.
- 3/5
The location was central and good, close to the cool neighbourhoods like North Beach. The room was nice enough but the hotel felt a bit dated. There was a subtle weird smell which felt like it needed fresh air. The staff was polite and hopeful and overall it was good stay. I chose this hotel as it seemed like a good value and at the end it was an ok price for the room I stayed in.
- 5/5
Great location and lovely hotel - everyone was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
- 5/5
I loved the location and it was perfect for my 4 night stay. Very comfortable and cozy! No complaints...very happy with my stay.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Beds were very comfortable. The bathroom pocket door was a little fiddly (hard to close) but that was minor. The hotel was surprisingly affordable for the fantastic location and amenities. Walkable to Union Square, Chinatown and North Beach. Restaurant food was decent. Gym was well equipped. Really enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
Great staff, great location, nice room. We really enjoy this hotel and stay here frequently. We will return soon.
- 4/5
Good location. Clean. Bikes weren't available. No complimentary water and coffee.
- 4/5
Only one working elevator that was unbelievably slow marred an otherwise great experience.
- 4/5
👍
- 4/5
Great location, wonderfully friendly staff, clean room and nice views. We enjoy staying here and return often.
- 5/5
In a competitive environment, I can't think of a better place to stay in all San Francisco, and I go there whether I'm on a business trip or with family. The breakfasts are excellent, everything is light and playful and the staff are often really engaging.
- 5/5
Great and friendly staff!
- 4/5
Walking distance to many places
- 5/5
The rooms in the hotel had plenty of space and were very comfortable. The staff were all helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Great location. Views of city. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast a bit expensive, but good free coffee! Room was comfortable, but could use some upgrades to feel more plush or higher end.
- 4/5
Nice property. Feels a little safer being in a courtyard area.
- 5/5
Location
- 2/5
The Stanford Court used to be one of SF's great hotels, sad to say, it is no longer. The hotel floors looks a bit shabby, the elevators are cranky and look like they haven't been polished in a long time. Our room had no closet, just an open frame with hangers. The shower was clogged and didn't drain, when we asked for maintenance to come and fix it, we were told "we do not have maintenance in the hotel today". This is not what a top hotel should be saying. All in all, very disappointing.
- 4/5
Nice hotel with spacious and comfortable bedrooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room overlooked California St and was a bit noisy (3rd floor), but other than that everything was great.
- 1/5
Hotel felt dated.
- 3/5
Great location! Awesome front desk! Issues with my room but was resolved
- 4/5
Great place, super staff, would have given all five stars except there was only one elevator our entire stay which made it a bit inconvenient.
- 5/5
A+ property and location
- 2/5
The location and the valet service is brilliant and the rooms are very spacious. However, I’d expect more from a 4 star hotel in such a prominent city.
- 5/5
Early check-in was an amazing, unexpected perk. Hotel was located in a wonderful, clean, safe area. Staff was nice.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel! Right in the center where both cable cars run so travelling was very easy. Hotel clean and staff very friendly
- 5/5
One of my favorite places to stay in SF
- 4/5
The hotel was clean but very very out dated. Needs new carpet, beds, furniture.
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
I felt very comfortable I can't wait to visit again 😊
- 3/5
It was ok. The rooms, specially the bathrooms are old and outdated. Hotel is in a really good location.
- 5/5
Good location in San Francisco area.
- 4/5
Good area abit far from the downtown mess but still close.
- 4/5
The room was clean and large for a family of 4 and the hotel is well located.
- 5/5
Great place to stay and very safe, elevators need some upgrade and fixing tho
- 3/5
The mattress covers has some visible holes in the fabric. The breakfast option is too expensive.
- 5/5
Lots of great restaurants.
- 2/5
Lovely lobby and staff. Rooms and hallways are the victim of the worst interior design I've ever seen. Hallway carpet plus bright lighting give you a feel of walking through a construction zone. Rooms are furnished with what seems to be distressed furniture from a RH Gallery sale. No closet - open hanging rack. No drawers for your stuff. We had to ask for 2 suitcase stands and live out of them for our trip. We asked for a quite room and they put us in the back over the trash cans and service drive - never had a solid night's sleep - we thought we would have a inner courtyard room - but no. Great breakfast and bar. Bottomline - this lovely classic hotel seems to be a victim of an owner who lacks common sense and taste.
- 5/5
Very convenient! Staff was very attentive to our needs. Restaurant was really good. Only negative was that only 1 of 3 elevators was working during our whole stay.
- 5/5
Safe, clean area and perfect for tourists taking the cable cars around SF. Very friendly staff. Averell Mabrie the front desk reception agent was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
The property was in a good neighborhood but very steep walk to get there. Staff nice, good lobby. Rooms were very basic. No extra amenities. I had to go downstairs to ask for water bottles. Not sure I’d recommend
- 4/5
It was steep walking down Powell street to Union Square
- 4/5
Great location. Have stayed here several times over the years so have seen it in different designs. This time was the least desirable. Only one of three elevators worked and really awful carpet in the hallways should be replaced. The room and bed were comfortable enough. Would still return here for the location and good price but long for the days when it was a “grand” hotel.
- 4/5
Elevator too slow
- 5/5
The hotel staff could have done more during our stay. The receptionist was very polite, able to speak to us in a timely manner. House keeping staff was very friendly and understanding if we wanted to stay long in our room. Lovy hotel, shame about the lifts not working but the hotel allowed us to use the service lifts.
- 3/5
Most elevators were not working, and at times all of them were out of order. We had to use the service elevator or at times we’re told to use the Stairs!! You would think with this inconvenience they would wave the $75 a day valet parking for a hotel that doesn’t even offer self parking.
- 3/5
The rooms were nice and the location was great. The big issue is they had elevator problems. When we got there only one worked then it was being worked on and we had to use the service elevator. They did not have stairs that we could use.
- 2/5
Hotel has 3 elevators only one of them worked on and off , the entire hotel was directed to one working service elevator the lines to use were long and it took 10-15 minutes to get an elevator everytime . The front desk lied to everyone saying it would be fixed but I was told that the elevators need to be replaced but money is tight since Covid so the project is being put off . The hotel states it’s luxury when in fact it’s not , don’t stay here unless you want to be waiting on elevators each time for 10-15 minutes . Also the parking is misleading and charges a valet fee even if you park your car and don’t use it , after stating it was a flat fee. Poor mgt , poor conditions to many nicer places to stay for the money . Avoid !!!!!!
- 5/5
Hotel was nice and clean, great location, but random inconveniences like the elevators never working or the toilet being hard to flush threw the experience off a little
- 5/5
Perfect, exceeded my expectations. 10/10 would stay again
- 5/5
The hotel rooms are spacious (we stayed twice during our trip - 4 nights in a bay view room which had stunning skyline and distant bay views and 2 nights in an atrium view room which was smaller but still spacious). The bay view rooms are on the outside of the hotel so we could hear the clanking of the cable cars but this didnt keep us awake. The atrium room was very quiet. We didnt hear any noise from within the hotel in either rooms. The beds were very comfortable. The layout of the check in/reception was a bit odd - it looked like temporary work stations but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Its a short walk downhill to Union Square and places to eat but a slower walk back up! We really enjoyed the stay here and would recommend it. Its very convenient for the cable cars and China Town.
- 5/5
Just note if you want to walk, immediate area was very hilly
- 3/5
Location is ok, the hotel itself needs a bit work. We booked 2 different rooms and none had water. Could be way cleaner, the shower and the bed felt really dirty. Also one of the bed was broken in our room so it wasnt comfortable. The food at the restaurant is not good as well.
- 5/5
We loved looking out at the cable cars passing by!
- 2/5
Room did not get cleaned while we were there
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I was very comfortable and hated to leave. Very nice staff, beautiful views.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice. We loved our time here.
- 5/5
Loved the water feature (and skylight?) outside the entrance. Concierge was very helpful and friendly; check-in and check-out were a breeze. Great rooms and views of the city. No complaints - will be back!
- 3/5
I was very excited to stay at the Stanford Court, unfortunately the lack of transparency with hidden fees and applying extra charges to my stay ruins what seemed like a nice hotel to book with. My overall experience is upon checking in, generally hotels charge a safety deposit for damages, I’m used to paying 100$ which is a normal/expectant hold. However this hotel charges 100 per night, which is not listed anywhere in the policies and fees with Expedia. Expedia is very clear and provides an invoice with what is due at property including deposits and fees. So I was blindsided by this amount of a charge. Mind you people come to visit and for leisure and that throws people’s budget off. Had I known about this, I would’ve properly allocated the deposit or booked elsewhere. The receptionist didn’t care about this miscommunication and was very cold and dry. Upon checking out you pay your destination fees but somehow they also charged valet to my stay, when I had no car. Thankfully, as previously stated Expedia is clear with what is expected at property and includes how much the destination fee is. Because of the higher charge being requested to pay at checkout I asked to clarify the charges and discovered how they “accidentally” charged me valet. They removed it, and I paid the amount equivalent to my receipt on Expedia. It could be an honest mistake. But always double check the charges and for what. Personally just left a bad taste in my mouth, this hotel is not it for me.
- 4/5
There is only one (1) elevator working so we had to wait very long to get to our floor/lobby
- 4/5
However, there is an additional destination fee of $38 USD a night to pay for items like the fitness center, bikes, coffee and bottled water. That being said, availability of bike sizes/ebikes was limited and bottled water was unavailable one morning that I had asked.
- 4/5
Stanford Court has been my go to hotel while in SF for several years. The staff is lovely, the breakfast selections are wonderful and the rooms are cozy. My one and only complaint from my most recent trip, there was an obvious odor in the lobby and elevators. It smelled like garbage all (4) days of my stay. Such a bummer, but otherwise…great visit to the Bay Area!
- 5/5
Friendly staff and at the center of all the places we wanted to visit.
- 5/5
*Tony the barman 💯 *Todd the reception agent Location
- 4/5
The hotel is in a fantastic spot, perfect for exploring the area, but definitely bring comfortable shoes, as the surrounding hills are no joke. The bed was spacious and very comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep. Be aware that parking is $75 per day, and there’s an additional $44 daily “property tax” that covers amenities like water, WiFi, and electricity. Breakfast was decent, and the staff were outstanding, friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Overall, I had a great stay and would absolutely recommend this place. I’m already looking forward to coming back!
- 5/5
I would highly recommend this hotel. I loved the location, which is in a nice neighborhood and more quite than nearby union square. The rooms are nice and clean with a friendly staff. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes nearby.
- 5/5
Location. Nob Hill is central.
