Reviews

Hotel is in the sketchiest of San Francisco neighborhoods and the concierge wanted to charge me a fee to park in a lot that only had 3 other cars parked out of the 12 available spaces. I felt that my car would surely be broken-into had i not paid the extortion fee. Then they wanted hotel fees which is ridiculous considering I'd likely get bed bugs in the establishment. I choose to leave even though i likely would forfeit all i paid. Better safe then sorry and never go to these scammers! In the end, you get what you pay for. I thought a discounted room would be adequate, but the pantless homeless man sleeping next to the trash bins in the parking lot was a sure sign that I should pay a bit more for an established hotel with secure parking and no homeless roaming the parking lot.

Inside the room was clean. It is open to the public, homeless people pass by and on our last day homeless people used the restroom on the property. Upon checking out, the attendant didn’t want to give me a receipt and I had to argue with him to receive one.

Was not aware of parking fee. We had to pay $30 to park. The elevator was broken. Super disappointed with lack of attention to fix it.
- 3/5
It is a good place for someone travelling by car - there is a parking lot on the ground floor with rooms just above that. Entry to small reception is from that internal parking lot. As that at the corner of two busy streets it can be a bit noisy even late evening. It is very close to BART station and to street car F that goes to the pier 33 location (ie for Alcatraz cruises) Be careful when going out in the night

Nothing really Very loud (ear plugs are provided). Not accommodating, staff doesn’t provide anything extra (blankets, pillows, towels) bring your own. Online it states 1 Parking space included in price, you still get charged at location.
- 2/5
We were able to hear all the noise windows should be updated to minimize the noise outside.

Bookings listed parking was included but the hotel charged me $30 extra to park. There is very little space to park you are probably going to hit the other car with you door and their door with your car. Microwave had unknown white stain on door, sink had a booger or something on it, iron was broken, lots of damage on walls. No cups for the provided coffee maker and no batteries in the remote control, had to go to the office to get some (not a big problem. just know what to expect)

Near the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium only a few lights walk away. Has a fridge and microwave to use. Worst experience I've had at any hotel stay. I originally booked only one night to see Martin Garrix but decided to book another night to see Dave Chappelle. Because I had 2 reservations for this same hotel I talked to a representative through Booking.com and asked to set it up where I don't have to check out and check back in. I was given the OK and that I should be all set to go. Next day I get a knock on the door at 11 from housekeeping saying I should have checked out but I told her that I have this room booked for 2 nights. 30 minutes later I'm startled again by a more aggressive knock by Hash saying I should be checked out and when I tell him the same thing he refuses to acknowledge me and that he doesn't know anything about my communication through booking.com The exchange was very uncomfortable as he puts the blame on me not telling them when originally checking in and that I should have called from the room instead of performing his due diligence and checking on his end. I didn't feel that was necessary since I already spoke chatted to what I thought was the hotel directly through booking.com This will be my first and last time staying at this esablishment. The interaction put a dampener on my trip to SF. You're welcomed to the room with 2 sets of ear plugs, reminders to secure valueables and always use the deadbolt and just to add the door closer was broken and I'd have to lift it up just to open or close the door.

Rooms are clean, housekeeping is great, no stains or discoloration on the sheets or towels. The parking lot was clean as well. I also was appreciative of the key carded elevator and stairs, it made me and my friends feel more safe.

No bother from staff. Good privacy. Had to fight for parking space. During busy events nearby, there is no guarantee you will park your vehicle there. No toilet paper, not a big deal staff just forgotten this one time.

The room was in good condition for the price paid. Parking is very expensive for guests, you are better off finding nearby street parking.

If you’re expecting the Ritz, look elsewhere. If you understand the area you just booked the hotel, the price, parking… then this place is a gem. I was with my daughter and her two friends ages 17 to19. While the area was a little sketch, I never once felt it was unsafe for me and the girls… I would 100% stay here again.

Had a very nice stay. Room was clean, easy to check in as the front desk employee was very friendly. This is a bare bones hotel but it was cozy for what we needed it for, which is walkable to the Civic Center. Yes, it can be loud outside but it is a city and for the most part it was not even bad. They do provide ear plugs if you need them. Bring a credit card and yes, they do charge for parking.

This is genuinely the worst place I’ve ever stayed. They advertise that their front desk is available 24/7, but they called me at 11pm and told me that if I didn’t check in by midnight I would not be able to check in at all. They don’t list this rule anywhere on their website or on any booking server, and when I tried to ask the guy if he could hold it for a bit (I got off work at midnight all the way across the city!!!) he was extremely rude and would not answer any of my questions. I had to leave work early to race over to make it in time to check in, because he told me he would leave. The room ended up being filthy and you can hear everything happening on the street from inside the room. There is no blanket on the bed, just a sheet. If I could give negative stars I would, this was the worst experience I have ever had and I would warn anyone against staying here.

But the main issue is with yourself by not showing the extra parking charges on the main list, also the need for a credit card should be shown on the main booking section as well. Going back to the receptionist, he said I would have 5 mins to unload my car or it would be towed away if I didn't pay. As for the room, that was acceptable and no more but the main issue is the noise all night, the building must be built with very thin bricks as the traffic noise and general outside noise was so load. Also the location is a drug den paradise, which isn't safe whatsoever.

The property is nice, parking is small but effective. The people working are great and very friendly. The room and hallways were always kept clean. Easy check in and out, good price. The bed was uncomfortable and the property is on a very very bad corner in a bad spot. Lots of activity outside scaring us from walking around freely. No designated smoking area so we were told to go out on the sidewalk to smoke, when we did so, we were constantly heckled by people on the street and felt unsafe unless inside the property.

SOMA hotel with parking at a good price point. They provide earplugs which are needed. But most people here don't sleep that much. The location is rough if you're used to the hi-life, but perfect for slumming the SOMA leather bars.

The location was convenient for the events I attended. I liked that parking was available on the premises. The room was clean, comfortable, and fully functional. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. The room was close to the elevator as well as the stairs. Having multiple staircases turned out to be very convenient, depending on where we were headed from the room.

1. Room was very clean, no bedugs, no mold, no cameras. 2. Mattress was in good shape, well supplied amenities 3. Check in/out process was ok. Room can be paid with debit card, but parking and deposit only by credit card. 4. Building held up well during a 4.3 earthquake. 5. One liquor store market right across the street with easy access (not much else around though) CONS: 1. Bad neighborhood. Sketchy people and a lot of loud noise and yelling all night long. Earplugs are provided, and rooms cant be accessed from the street, only by keycard, making it safe. 2. TV only works when you manually push TV buttons, and switch it to HDMI 1 3. Parking is a tight squeeze and limited. Your parking spot may be parked right at sidewalk, so make sure there are no valuables left in your car. OVERALL: I would definitely stay here again because its cheap and clean. Just come prepared and know where youre going so you dont end up lost in the Tenderloin area a couple of blocks away.

Good budget hotel, comfortable and clean room. However, I had booked a room with a king size bed but the room had a full size bed. Hotel management refused to reimburse the price difference between the 2 types of rooms, even after hotel.com contacted them. Hotel.com, customer service, to their credit, did issue a compensation in the form of a credit to my account.

The staff is friendly & accommodating. The rooms could use some upgrading but doesn't take away from how clean and well maintained they are. The location was my only drawback. The area is VERY noisy (ie could hear the bus pull up every 30 mins). At night the car noise slows down but the homeless tend to take over (ie loud screaming, music). I understand it is out of the control of the establishment however it does affect someone's stay. I felt safe the whole time, since room keys are necessary to access the rooms.

Two things that I think are important to be aware of: (1) when comparing prices, notice this venue adds $5/night "service charge" which is in addition to the total charge listed for the booking and (2) they've instituted an undocumented "no visitors" policy.

Unexpected fees after prepaying for my stay. Also the guy over charged my credit card and gave me issues once I asked for a refund. There was also blood on the sheets in the room. Don’t forget $30 per night to park in a non secure parking lot in a really unsafe part of town. If you’re not from the area do not let these fake pictures fool you this place is a dump!

The neighborhood it's in suffers from the usual problems in urban areas, although it's been cleaned up a lot over the past couple of years. If you're not intimidated by city life you'll have no problems walking around here. There are plenty of markets and restaurants within a couple of blocks, and it's a short walk to many of the more popular bars in SOMA, making it very convenient. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip.

I arrived at the hotel at 11:30. I was told there were no rooms available. I was also told that since I did not buy the insurance on my reservation that I forfeited my deposit for the room. These people who own this property are scam artists. They did the same thing to two other people and said they were just out of luck

Pros: It was clean, the plumbing worked, and they offered plenty of soap and coffee in the room, as well as earplugs, which we quickly learned were there to block the sound of the streets outside. Cons: There was only one thin blanket on the bed and we got cold, and the tv didn't work. I also found it weird that they have the coat hanger right by the bathroom sink where you would normally hang towels. We felt lucky that we no one broke into our car. This was an okay place to crash, but I wouldn't recommend staying here formore than one night.

Iron board, tub etc. room good condition but carpet may need to be cleaned. Had a smell. Ask for a room with no carpet. Some rooms are all flooring.

This is a very small motel type inn in the SOMA area of South San Francisco, so you may not expect much in terms of comfort; but they do provide it in abundance. And the front desk service is extremely friendly!

Ventilation system is bad. We would smell the food thru the bathroom vent from the kitchen, perhaps. Everything else is decent.

Our room was clean and spacious, though we couldn't get the heater to turn on, so it was a bit chilly overnight. The location is not great - the area around the Inn was pretty sketchy, seemed to be many homeless people around. The room itself was updated, and the property felt well-cared for once you stepped off the street outside.

Hair on the towels, heater blew a circuit on 2nd day. Remote to tv/dish didnt work, got a new remote & remote didnt work. Watched a volumeless tv, couldnt change the station & volume, could only turn tv on. Used their hdmi to plug in my laptop for netflix & it didnt connect. Mattresses are flat, old, sinks in the center from side to side & top to bottom.

The property was in good conditions, it was clean, room was spacious. However, I was surprised when the hotel charged me an additional $30 per nights for parking. Expedia did not disclose that parking was not included with the reservation. Other than the unexpected parking fee; my stay was good. But the streets of San Francisco are not safe.Too many mentally ill people roam and live on the streets, making it very unsafe.

The only issue I really had was the housekeeping was not cleaning our room. The first night, they made the beds, and replaced the towels, and cleaned. No cleaning or beds making we’re done for the remainder of the stay, with just towels being replaced. We did have to ask for a towel replacement at one point. Overall satisfied and would stay again.

Semi-clean but overall dirty, outdated, and overpriced. Parking was $120 ($30 a night) to be in an extremely open and dirty parking lot. Homeless will be walking around, screaming, blaring music, and defecting in the parking lot right by your car. It’s close to everything but overall extremely unsafe. Only stay here out of pure necessity. Solo female travelers especially stay away!!!

Like the other reviews, decent room, helpful staff, dirty house less neighbors that leave their excrement on the sidewalks for you to enjoy! SOMA location is convenient for Muni transit, close to downtown.

When I arrived to check in, however, I was charged THIRTY dollars per day. The whole thing felt very "bait and switch". It was terribly frustrating, but I had no choice.

Comfy hotel by a noisy street. The outside gives you the illusion it might be kind of shady to stay there but the hotel inside is really nice. The bed was comfy and the shower kept with the hot water after awhile. I would stay there again if I was in the area. My only problem was the hotel charging $35 a night to park in their parking lot. I could understand a smaller fee but charging $70 for two nights was a lot and I just parked a little bit down the block for free.

Great room. All amenities worked well. Clean with no sign of pest issues. Accommodating, polite staff. Centrally located near a lot of pub transportation. A clear homeless issue outside and can be a bit noisy. Other than that, overall good stay.

I liked that the property was a 6min walk to Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. That was the reason I chose this hotel. The area is pretty noisy, and there is a bus or Muni that operates way into the night, however that's to no fault of the property. They do provide you with earplugs (which I didn't use). The area itself is kind of sketchy, but the same can be said about the whole city. All in all, the staff was very friendly with check in and check out, and the room was decent for the price. The bedding was fine, sheets were clean, towels were a bit scratchy, but clean and the bathroom was well-maintained. I would stay here again if I need to attend a show at the auditorium. Also, it's very close to the freeway, so you don't need to drive too far into the city.

I have stayed at this property several times over the past 10 years. While it isn’t in the most desirable or quietest area of SF, it’s convenient and a great price if you’re spending most of your time in the SOMA area of SF.

Overall the stay was okay, I stayed here because of the on-site parking. I was under the impression that the on-site parking would be included with the stay but when I arrived and checked in I was charged an additional $30 per night for parking. It should be included in the description.

There were lots of street people but since the hotel is situated in a courtyard facing in, you could get in and out of your car without interacting with any. It looks unsafe from the street but staff was very kind, room was clean and updated and we felt safe in the room, there was good security in elevator, stairs and room
