The location was amazing, the facilities were great value for the money and the staff were incredibly kind!! Meagan went out of her way to help and she was lovely every time I saw her!!

I like where it's located; near the 28 bus that goes to either the Golden Gate Bridge or Fisherman's Wharf which is convenient. The breakfast was good for a quick grab-and-go! Need better area in rooms for luggage & charging stations

The room was clean. The water pressure was so low, I needed to stay in the shower room a lot longer than usual to thoroughly clean hair and body.

Close to main tourists location. Get single room with balcony , it shows Golden Gate Bridge. Room was good size. Breakfast was bare minimum, no daily room service . Room sticks a little when you first walk in .

Clean and comfortable room. The staff were very friendly and replied to my messages quickly. Free breakfast and complimentary luggage storage after check-out were also great. Nothing.

Very good location on Lombard Street to explore San Francisco, clean and spacious rooms, staff is polite, breakfast is simple and pretty much the same everyday but enough to start the day. All in all a pretty good experience. Hint - the coffee shop across the street is a gem, as well as the Japanese place next to the hotel - their ramen is amazing. A bit noisy especially if your room is facing the street.

Conveniently located, with free and clean parking. Room was clean and big, had everything I needed, and a very quiet side facing the neighborhood at the back. Staffs were all polite and helpful. Nothing at all.

Very nice clean place, great location, breakfast was a plus! bathroom inside the room was also a great thing for a hostel! Could go walking to major famous spots. JJ in the front desk was the best, she really helped me when I lost my wallet trying to keep me calm, giving me advices and trying to find it. Bedroom felt a little stuffy, I guess because of the vapor of the shower.

Bed mattresses - whenever I moved in the bed, my partner would wake up with the spring noise. It was SO loud that he woke up 12 times during the only terrible night we spend there. Horrible breakfast - based on the previous reviews, we were expecting a decent breakfast. However, it was miserably bad. We arrived 8h30 to eat and both the cream cheese, yogurt and juices were gone. So if you arrived at that time, you would only be able to eat a bagel with butter and a disgusting coffee (no milk). No protein at all. Additionally, you could barely find a place to sit and eat, as it was crowded. Consequently, we had to eat the bagel on the air (no table nor seats available). Reception was rude. We didn’t receive a welcome, only a rude reception and the room card.

Apart from initial check-in, the staff did try to help and were extremely apologetic over the personal belongings issue. No apparent record of our booking, which eventually took 20 minutes for them to find. The room key was not working after the first day because our booking wasn't showing again! Day 2 Our room keys work, but upon our return, ALL of our belongings had been removed from our room and shoved in bin bags. There was no record of us on the system AGAIN, so our stuff was removed. Breakfast basic and constantly hsving to ask for items to be replaced.

The building itself was clean, accept the fact one of my employees got bit by a spider had to go to the emergency room. And if he wouldn't of it would have been very detrimental to his health. According to the e r. When brought it to the front desk's attention, there wasn't any kind of concern. With that, being said was not even offered a different bed.

Great location, free parking, staff were great and we felt safe. Good pizza place across the street. The hotel garage was accessible to anyone 24/7, which made me a little uneasy, but there were security cameras throughout the garage, so it felt secure enough

I had a private room. Temperature control was nice, same with the provided fridge. Shower and bed were also decent. Unfortunately I was immediately soured on SameSun upon arrival. I checked my bags in their luggage storage which is a great perk. They informed me that my room would be ready early, which sounded great, until they asked for $20 to access early... The real mess started at check-in. They gave me my key and I went up the elevator to a dirty room. There had been some miscommunication between the cleaning staff and manager. Things happen. What annoyed me most was that the cleaning staff told the manager that there were plenty of clean rooms for me to take instead (in Spanish, which I speak). I then asked the manager if there was another clean room I could take and he said unfortunately not. So I proceeded to wait downstairs in the lobby for them to clean that dirty room. Why not just give me a different room? I have to imagine most other places would have done that. I don't think that's asking for too much. Additionally, the toilet just does not flush. Staff is aware of this too, given that there is a sign above it asking not to flush twice. Thankfully, I was by myself, but if I was staying with my partner, it would've been gross. They try to spin it as an "eco-friendly" toilet, but how eco-friendly is it if you need to flush multiple times?

Very good location with walking distance to the harbour and ferrys to Alcatraz! There are curtains for the beds which is very much appreciated! Good breakfeast. Priceworthy! There is unfortunately no kitchen.

Location was great, room was a reasonable size and comfortable, easy to access. Parking was great Breakfast was poor, stale or still partly thawed bagels only. No proper cereals and plastic cutlery. Foot noise from the above room was annoying (ear plugs were used during sleep time). TV was poor.

Great location, great value, good vibe, generally clean. Subjectively: the bed was softer than is comfortable, the pillows were overstuffed- maybe just a preference thing. Objectively: the bathroom floor was really dirty, and the shampoo and body was dispensers in the shower were empty. The rest of the room and bathroom were very clean, so we assumed the cleaner was called away before they finished and forgot to return and complete the job.

Situated so centrally, and awesome free breakfast included, which we didn't even realised. Nice clean room, friendly staff, and an nice atmosphere all around.

Overall good for what you pay for. The shared rooms are nothing special. They really have no character or charm to them at all and the view out our window was just a wall of the adjacent building so we also didn’t get natural light in. But for only like $27/night I won’t complain. I do love that they have a patio space with plenty of seating and decent WiFi. It’s too bad they didn’t have it on the roof instead, that would have made for much better views of the surrounding neighborhood and maybe even the bridge. But it is a cozy space. My only complaint would have to be the breakfast.. it’s just cold bagels, a community tub of cream cheese, bananas, and OJ. It was disappointing especially by the 2nd or 3rd day you just want something else. Other than that the property seems pretty clean. The hallways upstairs are pretty bleak and lifeless and I think if they spruced them up to match the energy of the patio it would go along way. 10/10 would stay here again.

I am standing at the counter for check in at 10:45pm, and no one there. 11:05, a lady comes in and I tell her I need to be quick because I leave at 5am next morning. Instead of saying sorry to have me wait, she asks me: do you want I check you in? You should say apologize to me. OMG. For a faster process for myself, I swallow down my anger and say I apologize. She asks me: apologize for what? Ah ha, one more time, she makes me confirm her reaction to me is right and my attitude (after waiting from 10:45-11:05pm) is absolutely wrong. Business owner, you should watch out your business and your employees. I am an business owner as well, and I absolutely don't accept yhis type of person, cant call her as an employee.

Friendly staff. Tiny lobby, but large patio. Good private room with balcony. Unfortunately parking garage was full and we secured a spot on the street. But car was broken into via smashed window, ransacked, jackets and other items stolen. We asked for extended checkout to take care of things and police report etc and they offered extra 15 minutes. Disappointing.

It was a hostel, and for a hostel it was very good. The privacy curtains are blackout curtains so they do a good job of keeping out the light. There’s a little sturdy metal shelf with a light and two USB charging ports and two grounded electrical outlets by each bunkbed. They provide sheets, blanket, pillow, towel. There are shampoo, conditioner and bodywash dispensers in the shower. There are some breakfast offerings in the lobby, including instant oatmeal and coffee, but also there are several coffee shops within like a one block radius, including one that’s basically next door. There’s a sushi place, a Ramen place, and a pizza place also within like a couple hundred feet. The room I was and had a good size balcony that overlooked the street. The air conditioner worked well, just make sure you control it at the thermostat. My only complaint is that the lockers were a little small. You could put valuables in there I would fit a laptop and an iPad, but no piece of luggage would fit in there (I guess the New York hostel spoiled me!) the front desk staff are very nice and attentive, they have luggage storage available for no charge as well. Oh and free parking??? You won’t find that like anywhere in San Francisco. It’s a little over a half mile from the really fun windy part of Lombard Street if you feel like taking a short hike to get your heart pounding, haha. Definitely a good hostel to stay in if you can deal with sharing a room with strangers.

This is located near a nice coffee shop and a Korean restaurant. The hotel is well maintained and the staff is friendly. It's a no-frills, but a clean, safe stay. I would recommend and would stay here again if I was in the area

The experience over all was lovely. Great location, parking, breakfast, excellent guest services. My only dis is that there was mold on the bathroom walls in my room and some of the other walls looked like there was wallpaper hiding water damage. It was only one night for me so it worked well.

Room had everything we needed and was accessible. Hotel offers parking but limited spots on main level , additional in bottom level. Staff were extremely friendly! One downside is just the location , if you’re a light sleeper there is a lot of noise around the area but they do offer complementary ear plugs! I would definitely still stay there again!

A guy who was staying there had his window busted and stuff stolen. Park up top of there is room. Not the hostels fault just beware and don’t leave anything in your car.

Very walkable and good place to run if you like running. Walking distance to the wharf. Rooms were spacious (I stayed in a 6 female dorm) had a beautiful balcony. Would recommend staying here (felt safe as a solo traveler and met some cool people).

I was in my bed when I heard the door open and footsteps. Someone I've never seen before walked in fast to my bed and started talking very loudly "YOU TOLD HOUSEKEEPER NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING SHE CAN'T CLEAN THE ROOM YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT" blah blah. I was shocked, I was trying to say it's not true let's talk to the house keeper together but he kept yelling at me. First of all, I didn't say that to the housekeeper when she came to change the linen in a bed. She looked confused when she saw suitcase by the bed. I told her that guest came last night and hasn't checked out. They don't change sheets every night unless you've checked out or stayed certain number of nights. But no matter what, the hostel should have policy about how to enter a room when a guest is in there, like knocking on the door, saying who you're, what you're doing here, etc. Regardles what he thought I said to the housekeeper, it's not ok to bust into the room like that and accuse me so hostilely off the bat. Also it's a female dorm. So I said this is female dorm it's not ok you came in without permission, are you female? He was like I'm the general manager here I can go in wherever I want. He was yanking a key fob in my face. It's like watching Trump throwing a temper tantrum screaming "I'm the President!". Can't finish review because word limit. But have phone with you be ready to record anytime.

Someone I've never seen before walked in fast to my bed and started talking very loudly "YOU TOLD HOUSEKEEPER NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING SHE CAN'T CLEAN THE ROOM YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT" blah blah. I was shocked, I was trying to say it's not true let's talk to the house keeper together but he kept yelling at me. First of all, I didn't say that to the housekeeper when she came to change the linen in a bed. She looked confused when she saw suitcase by the bed. I told her that guest came last night and hasn't checked out. They don't change sheets every night unless you've checked out or stayed certain number of nights. But no matter what, the hostel should have policy about how to enter a room when a guest is in there, like knocking on the door, saying who you're, what you're doing here, etc. Regardles what he thought I said to the housekeeper, it's not ok to bust into the room like that and accuse me so hostilely off the bat. Also it's a female dorm. So I said this is female dorm it's not ok you came in without permission, are you female? He was like I'm the general manager here I can go in wherever I want. He was yanking a key fob in my face. It's like watching Trump throwing a temper tantrum screaming "I'm the President!". Can't finish review because word limit. But have phone with you be ready to record anytime.

We’ve never had issues with the hotel and staff but our last evening of our four-night stay got confusing. We got into a car accident that didn’t allow us to get back to the hotel till 1:45AM. All of the parking spots were full so we asked Darren at the front desk for suggestions of what to do. Sadly, he was very cold and offered minimal help and gave us suggestions that would make us pay for $30 parking across town, and then we’d have to find additional transportation to get back/to the hotel. When we asked what guests can to do in situations of the parking-lot filling up, he only gave us the one idea above and left it at that. We ended up calling other hotels within walking distance asking if we can park the car for a few hours and gratefully found a place down the block. In all, we would come and stay at Samesun SF again because I know that was just one instance. But coming home after a few days from this trip, this interaction really stuck with us. I figured to say some customer-service empathy at the time would have been good enough at those late hours.

The fellow guests made this stay very rememberable. I quite enjoyed the company as i dont have alot of friends. Beds were very comfy. Staff was very relaxed and chill. Its was basicly just like sharing a hotel. Would book again

It was quiet…also very close to the Kusselman Memorial turn around and bus stops literally catch the bus out front one block down and be at the Golden Gate Bridge.

Excellent property. Comfortable room with its own bathroom, sink, closet with hangers, safe, fridge, desk. The staff was welcoming and the other guests were great. The kitchen area with tables and couches had a community feel area. It felt safe, unlike most places in San Francisco.

The reason I put my age is because I've heard that some hostels cater to the younger 20s crowd. I did not feel out of place at all, being too old, or out or touch as I'd never stayed in a hostel before. They let me check in early as they had the availability after my 21hr train ride. Was such a blessing. There were options to have your own personal locker and space to put your things in the room. The bathroom was private in the room with a locking door. One towel is provided but there were no wash cloths. Sheets were super clean and bedding was adequate enough for the room temperature. My roommates were super respectful and the checkin process seemed pretty good on having good people stay at their property. There was a good selection for breakfast and was in walking distance to so many other options. Right next to a few coffee shops and a really good ramen place. I took amtrak there so I didn't have to deal with parking, although it was very accessible. My train didn't leave until 9pm and checkout was at 11. They had a safe place for me to store (and access when needed) my bags so I could venture. The patio/lounge area was still accessible for me to spend time in waiting for my departure. I had an overall great experience and highly recommend staying here if you're just looking for a place to rest your head. I'm an introvert and I wasn't super uncomfortable either. Great for extroverts who love to chat with others as well!

The check in was amazing, i am a cab driver who was helping a half paralyzed woman in wheelchair and the clerk was above and beyond kind, considerate and on top of his job!!!

Nice stay. Parking was free; just make sure that you get a space (first come first served). Big rooms with view on the Golden Gate Bridge! We liked it.

The only Ron I didn’t give 5 stars was because 1 of the beds in a coed 6 room was terrible and 1 pillow in a coed 4 room was bad plus the air conditioner was broken. Fortunately it’s rare you would need a AC in San Francisco. Otherwise it’s 5 star especially the staff - very friendly courteous and knowledgeable.

The hotel is not a hotel but a hostel, with equally hostile staff. They would not accommodate our family, and even refused service when we got there after travelling 3hrs. This is illegal as we prepaid the room. I had to get the police involved and it was very distressing. The manager Meyila, hid when we got there, fraudulent practices all around. In my opinion, they have breached hotels.com contracts by refusing service from a prepaid room, refusing refund, double booking our ADA room and falsely advertising, not to mention discriminating against us.

The water pressure in the showers was some of the weakest I've experienced, too. On a positive note, the room itself was fine. For a hostel, it was comfortable and had all the basic amenities I expected. The stay was great but use convenient lockers offered in shared rooms to avoid theft. My valuable items were not scared properly because I did not have a lock for the locker and I had jewelry stolen from me in my room. Make sure to bring a lock. 🔐 I was unaware the items were gone until after I checked out and was too far away to turn back

I arrived early, but the attendant said, “No worries, you can poop in the lobby bathroom.” Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the toilet in time, but it’s the thought that counts!

Samesun Hostel in San Francisco exceeded my expectations! The staff was incredibly polite and accommodating, making me feel right at home. The free breakfast was a delightful bonus that fueled my adventures in the city. Plus, the easy parking made my stay stress-free. I highly recommend Samesun Hostel for a fantastic and comfortable stay in San Francisco!

Breakfast was cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea and water; very basics. Area around very walkable and liked that there was a parking garage, can be limited but i didn't have trouble. Would def stay again!

Nice hostel, with friendly helpful staff. I stayed in a private room which was basic but clean. Decent bedding and shower. The included breakfast was basic but good enough, and there was a great coffee shop across the road for which the hostel provided a discount voucher. The lobby area was quite small and was the only place to socialise or meet others, so this wasn’t the easiest place to meet others but I was able to meet a couple of people. There are socials advertised but these are run by another hostel and are a fair distance to travel to get to. Location was good - close to fisherman’s wharf and a bus route right outside. They also allowed luggage to be stored for a few days whilst I went out of town. Overall I’d recommend and would stay again.

I loved the cleanliness and friendliness of some staff, other staff was not so friendly. I absolutely loved my overall experience here - it was my first time staying at a hostel - but I was very much disappointed with the breakfast service. I think (1) it should be put out way more in advance since when I was there they set it at around 8am and I would've liked to leave to explore SF at 7am (2) i think it needs more variety

The room was noisy being right on Lombard, even with the sliding glass door to the balcony closed.

I really liked this hotel. The staff was friendly, it had a trendy feel to it, and it had off street parking in a garage which was included in the price. I would stay here again for sure.

Samesun is a great place to stay! Very clean, staff is helpful and courteous, feels safe and really nice that they have off-street parking. Amenities are limited as expected, but if you're cool with just the basics you'll have a great stay :)

The bunk bed was remarkably comfortable! i am partially disabled and had no hassle with my request for a lower bunk. check in/out was easy and the staff are great - especially Lucy. also, the way things are set up is smart - ergonomic, efficient. my favorite thing was the "lounge/patio" in a corner of the parking garage. this is right on an extremely busy street, so there is traffic noise, but that can't be helped. the silence after 11pm rule in dorm rooms makes a difference. having a balcony was cool! my only real complaint is that the disinfectant/cleanser they use is ubiquitous - it seems every hotel, restaurant, venue uses the same thing, the smell sticks in the sinuses and housekeeping is very diligent in applying it - liberally. at least one knows things are clean, right? all in all, i recommend this place highly. this is what hospitality is about.
