Reviews
The hotel receives generally positive reviews for its location, staff, and cleanliness. However, some guests have issues with the size of the rooms and bathrooms, as well as hidden fees. The hotel's happy hour and breakfast offerings are appreciated, but some guests feel they are not worth the additional cost.
- Great location
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Small rooms and bathrooms
- Hidden fees

It's an old building so the amenities are worn out already. I was particular about the AC in my room turning off every 5-10 minutes. Called Guest Services and they sent out a maintenance guy to check the AC which he only just turned off then back on. Called Guest Services twice about the same issue but they just called and let the maintenance guy recheck the unit. The lady I spoke to didn't let me finish my sentence and just abruptly said she was going to send someone. The maintenance guy was very cold, and didn't even talk when greeted. Check-in was good. Rey was kind enough to offer me late check-out.

Superb

Good location and clean Bathroom was 9 out of 10
- 4/5
I liked the location and staff the most. Staff went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is awesome because it is very close to everything downtown. This is obviously nothing they can change, but rooms and bathroom are tiny. Just plan accordingly.
- 4/5
Great location, clean, proper and fine bed (not very hard, not very soft), housekeeping every otherday Breakfast! It's hardly anything: some juice / tea/ coffee and some sweet things (stale croissants, muffins, donuts). Quite unhealthy and not doable with allergens. My one person room had a tiny window with no view. But it was quite, cozy and clean. Staff could be nicer, some of them weren’t
- 2.5/5
The location is pretty good and the discount you can get at the surrounding restaurants is good Unfortunately there’s no microwave so you definitely cannot bring left overs.. the refrigerators doesn’t run cold either it’s more so warm so drinks being kept cold isn’t gonna happen.. the ac wasn’t working too well for us either which was unfortunate and the pillows are most definitely not pillows
- 5/5
One of my favorite properties in San Francisco! The update theyve done to the hotel is great, the rooms are a good size for the city and i appreciate that they have a small fridge and coffee maker. Each morning they put out a continental breakfast for grab and go. The location is the best part. So many food options and easy to get around from here. The gelato spot next door is to die for as well
- 1.5/5
The rooms were clean. They have luggage rooms for storage before check-in / after check-out. The receptionist couldn't find both of my rooms for 10 minutes despite them being under the same name. The rooms are rather small, even though we got a free upgrade to a King room it was only a bigger bed, but the same room area size. They also said we need to pay a resort fee but it was already included in the payment through Booking.com. We booked the hotel so we would have breakfast, but they have severely cut back on breakfast options, so now it's just two pastries, two types of fruit and drinks. Extremely disappointing, we would have booked another, nicer hotel without breakfast if we knew we still had to buy real food every morning.
- 0.5/5
Location It smelt like urine inside the bedroom and had silverfish in the bathroom as was damp. Air con didn’t stay on.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, clean rooms, affordable price. Will definitely book here again!
- 5/5
This hotel was super comfortable. Super clean and so well maintained . Staff were helpful and friendly. We love how easy it was for us to be so central to walk everywhere. Especially how we can literally access Chinatown, little Italy, the Pier, parks and to so many restaurants by literally just walking out from the front lobby. Will definitely book here again.
- 5/5
Small but clean room, and they are pet friendly! Perfect location for our trip!
- 5/5
Hotel Triton is a must when considering centrally located San Francisco hospitality. Rey took great care of us as we had a couple of audibles during our time. The grab and go breakfast was great to energize anyone to hit the city running on more than hope. The rooms were vintage chic but with modern amenities, like the matcha-based toiletries that were among the freshest I’ve had to date. The straightforward expectations with the simple charm of everyone at Hotel Triton made us feel welcome throughout our time.

Unfortunately, the front desk experience overshadowed everything. From check-in, the interaction felt off. Our reservation name was confused with another guest's and rather than checking the system, she became argumentative. When it came to our pets — clearly noted on our reservation — we were placed in a non-pet room. She insisted our pets were never noted. They were. We were then asked to haul luggage from the 7th floor back down with two dogs in tow. She warmly informed another guest about a 10% gelato discount and hotel amenities — never mentioning it to us. When my husband asked, he was dismissed mid-conversation without so much as an 'excuse me.' We paid for a late checkout, only to return and find our key cards deactivated — with our dog still inside the room. Completely unacceptable. When asked her name, she said 'Kamille with a K' — strange, given my name is Camille. Another employee confirmed the next day that wasn't her name at all. She is a red-headed woman whose unapproachable demeanor was apparent from the start. Staff can make or break a hotel. In this case, it broke it entirely.
- 5/5
Great location, amazinf staff!
- 3/5
Breakfast consisted of danishes, fruit, juice and coffee. All were tasty and fresh, but lobby is small which made access to breakfast items a chore. Staff was nice but I am not a fan of the self-check in. Once I arrived, I was directed to the self-check in screen. A staff member walked me through the process, but I prefer to have a more direct interaction with staff upon entry. Hotel seemed safe but anyone can walk in and go up to rooms floors since the elevator doesn't need a room key to activate. I would feel safer if the room doors had an additional lock from the inside. They do provide a nice feature of filtered water from a machine located on the 6th floor and a carafe is provided in the room. I would have liked if they had an additional water feature on a lower floor.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here! Super funky and fun hotel and staff were very friendly and the vibe was just great. Our room was very comfortable and we slept great! Convenient location to walk downtown and in north beach
- 1/5
It was close to many restaurants The girl at the reception was very rude and unwelcoming There was a bad odor in the hotel Air conditioning did not cool the room The restroom was VERY small There were many different surprise charges brought up during check in
- 5/5
The staff were really amazing. Tony, Rey and Saba. They were really personable, patient and understanding. Highly emotionally intelligent people who earned my trust and thsts what exceeded my expectations. I didnt like booking through Expedia...it gave me problems ans won't lwt me extend my stay without adding a separate booking which caused a great deal of issues for me and charges to my card.

Great location. Stayed 3 nights and no one ever came to clean our room. Bathroom door handle was broken, room was very small and stuffy. They have down graded their 4pm happy hour and their contennintal breakfast to a grab and go. The shower basin are dangerously slippery. When I asked for a rubber bath matt they couldn't provide one. They charged a daily resort fee of over $200 for the 3 nights. We've stayed here the last 3 times we've come to San Francisco, with one of those times being my daughter's wedding, inwhich we booked a third of their rooms. Maybe the hotel is struggling financially? Anyway, I think this will be our last time staying here.

Clean room, friendly staf
- 5/5
Great location. Helpful staff. Not a lot of drawer space but just lived out of suitcases. We’ll certainly stay again.
- 5/5
Hotel Triton was a wonderful place to stay! The staff was very friendly and the room/entire hotel was very clean. It's in a great location as well, highly recommend!
- 5/5
The room was clean and the location worked well with what we wanted to see and do.
- 4/5
We stayed at Hotel Triton during our time in San Francisco and overall we are very happy with our choice. The absolute best part about this hotel is the location! It is situated right at the dragon gate entrance to Chinatown, and you are within easy walking distance to Union Square, the Financial District, and the cable cars. The area felt very safe and convenient for exploring the city. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and has a unique, artistic vibe that we really enjoyed. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. Our only complaint was the room. While it was beautifully decorated, spotless, and the bed was very comfortable, it was incredibly small and cramped. If you are traveling with large suitcases for a road trip, it quickly becomes difficult to find space to move around. The bathroom was also on the smaller side.If you are looking for a stylish hotel in a prime location and don't plan on spending too much time inside your room, Hotel Triton is a perfect choice. We would definitely stay here again, but we would probably book an upgraded, slightly larger room next time!

Exceptional
- 5/5
Quick check in and friendly staff. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Great location! Nice to have a continental breakfast and wine in the evening. Easy checkout.
- 5/5
This was our first stay at this hotel and we can’t wait to go back!
- 4/5
The location is amazing everything very easy to acces.
- 2/5
In a word : misleading Both the hotel and the staff.
- 1/5
It was my first time staying here. The pictures & review shows a great place but when you get there, it's not like that! The bed bugs have been there and hurt me and my son. My son's leg was hurting so bad and he couldn't walk for half a day due to the pain. We have the pictures of the bed bugs and the spots on our body that got hurt. On the other hand, the sink smells terrible.
- 5/5
Hotel Triton is a quaint, cozy hotel at the start to Chinatown. Easy access to Union Square many shopping outlets. I’ve stayed here several times. A great place to stay and easy access.
- 3/5
water on sink & shower were clogged up. parking overnight is $85+tax on mini van, breakfast could be better.
- 3/5
For the price and cleanliness it can’t be beaten. Dogs stay free and there’s a few nibbles in the morning, but I wouldn’t call it breakfast. The rooms are very small, the bathroom is smaller. They’ve done a good job making it pleasant and comfortable.
- 5/5
The room was clean though the AC kept cutting off and was annoying at night when it would get warmer. The breakfast was good with pastries and fruit. The location was convenient was accessible to all the places we wanted to see. I would recommend and would stay here again.
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
Clean and modern, nearby parking. Location across the street from Dragons Gate is amazing. 2 blocks to Union square. Valet is $65. No coffee maker in the room, but there is free coffee in the lobby.

I did have breakfast and I'm glad I didn't drive at $80 per night.

I was hoping breakfast is a little bit better than just a pastries

Good
- 5/5
My stay was great.
- 5/5
The location, the taste wine and the stuff ae excellent.
- 4/5
Lots of chatacter. Not much space being an older hotel.
- 5/5
Breakfast was basic crab and go items. Sufficient, but not the freshest. The hotel is amazing, staff was super friendly and the room was in excellent condition! Be prepared for tiny bathrooms though, but very well kept. Would definitely visit again!
- 5/5
Favorite spot. Literally in front of Chinatown. Lovely French Cafe in front to hotel and sorbet shop. Hotel beds are comfy and offers refill water stations
- 5/5
A lovely pet friendly hotel with wonderful staff.
- 5/5
The location was great. Alice, the evening desk customer service representative was exceptional with recommendations, looking up and even calling restaurants to answer my questions. She also helped me get my first Waymo. She was exceptional. Thanks!!
- 5/5
The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. Located was great and the customer service was amazing at the front desk. Don’t remember their names but the were all always smiling and willing to help me out with any questions.
- 2/5
•There is NO restaurant or bar in this hotel! •The breakfast absolutely sucks. Stale carbs and sorry fruit. Nothing looked appealing. Other items you might miss: •no coffee maker, fridge, or desk in the room. Room is very small - not unusual for older SF hotels Security lax - no card required for elevator. No physical door restraint other than deadbolt. Location is good - close to so much of downtown. Unfortunately close to street people as well, who screamed through the night, making sleep impossible. Value for the price is barely ok. Would appall many tourists, but be meh for those used to downtown SF hotels and prices. Nothing about it to tempt me back.
- 5/5
Grab and Go breakfast - only cold juices and pastries; no hot drinks. No parking in facility but public parking in adjacent blocks for $46-$48/day.
- 5/5
It was right next to China town and lots of good eats. Not a lot of night life, which cannot be either good or bad
- 2/5
Breakfast was stale looking donuts and mig
- 5/5
Good location; way walk to convention center and downtown. Quieter; good value. Older hotel. If you need everything bright and shiny, pay more and stay somewhere else. This place is clean, pleasant and comfortable.
- 4/5
Nice breakfast
- 5/5
Clean room and good location
- 4/5
The room size was decent. It fit a queen bed, chair, small round table, two night stands, a small stand to hold a TV and small frig. The decor resembled a twist of modern transformation of 1950’s ornamental moldings throughout the walls to stunning quartz bathroom tranquility. The walls and ceiling were paper thin with noise one can hear from other rooms and the hallway. Man the doors were loud when opened or shut (stuck doors). On the upside, the bed and lining lent a refuge to relax throughout the night. They did provide free drinks including wine in the reception/lounge area for a short time frame. The free breakfast was almost a continental breakfast with old croissants, powdered donuts, bagels, bruised apples, and juice (what a let down). Parking is not included. It cost me $22 overnight, as long as I parked from 6pm-9am. And be ready to pay a resort fee (the irony). I will not return.
- 5/5
The location of this hotel is very convenient, making it easy to get around. Breakfast is simple—just coffee and a croissant—but everything else about the stay was excellent. The staff were friendly, and I would definitely recommend this hotel!
- 3/5
Pets stay for free, however no proper relief area in or around the hotel. 3 minute walk to nearby park for dog restroom. Rooms are very small, but clean. Staff was very nice. Breakfast is just simple such as donuts, croissants, muffins; nothing exceptional.
- 2/5
Breakfast included when we booked the hotel, when we stayed, its grap and go, why false info. Parking rate is too high.
- 5/5
Great hotel and amazing staff! We got a complimentary upgrade and water on arrival. The team was very friendly, helped us find food late at night, and even printed important documents in the morning. Highly recommend — will definitely come back!
- 5/5
Honestly one of the cutest places I've stayed when looking for something reasonably priced but still safe and clean!
- 5/5
I was there for the weekend in March. Dao was helpful and friendly, very well spoken and welcoming. I will definitely come back here in Future. Great Stay, Close to everything!!
- 5/5
Hotel was clean and staff was friendly
- 3/5
I recommend it for any business traveler.
- 2/5
The shower had a funny smell but it was in general in the hotel. The shower had mold in it. The AC didn't really work.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Really nice hotel
- 5/5
Wonderful spot to stay
- 4/5
Had a few issues checking in, but the stay was nice after that.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean rooms
- 5/5
Very good hotel.
- 5/5
Great location and really appreciated the checkout time being 12!
- 5/5
Excellent stay! The king room was exceptionally clean, and the staff was friendly, professional, and available 24/7. The location is perfect, walking distance to Powell and Montgomery BART stations, two blocks from the California & Grant trolley stop, and directly across from the Chinatown Dragon Gate. Can’t wait to visit The City and stay here again in September!
- 5/5
Everything about this place was top tier and magical. The building smelled amazing and the staff was extremely nice. Our pets enjoyed the stay as much as we did. We appreciated the dog bowls brought to our room (:
- 5/5
Loved it! Clean and comfortable. Quirky decor and cute rooms. Great location. Free coffee and small breakfast in the morning. Desk staff recommended House of Nanking for lunch... now one of my favorite restaurants spots in SF! Will stay here again!
- 5/5
Great location, super clean and comfortable
- 4/5
The room was comfortable. The breakfast was convenient. The location was perfect.
- 5/5
Hotel Triton is a place to say and has the best amenities and is walking distance to many attractions!
- 5/5
Great Customer Service, cute cozy room
- 4/5
Also, during cocktail hour, it would be great if the gal checking in at the front desk spoke up a little as it’s incredibly noisy and hard to hear. I had to ask her to repeat herself several times because she spoke so softly.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet and easy to get around! Add super nice personal, and the mix is great :-)
- 5/5
Spotless, comfortable bed, friendly staff
- 5/5
Clean room. Nice staff. Welcoming presence. No fuss. No nonsense.
- 5/5
Great location love the history behind it.
- 4/5
The lobby is fresh and stylish and the front desk staff is friendly and welcoming. The rooms are small but cute and clean. Great location in the financial district. I have stayed here many times.
- 5/5
Beautiful experience. Juan and the other guy w the glasses longer hair and cartiledge piercing were astonishingly courteous. Don’t sleep! 10/10 would recommend and stay again.
- 5/5
The staff was so welcoming and helpful.
- 3/5
So you can see the mismatch above. It would be really easy to make the room more desirable. But in its current state, I won't rebook.
- 5/5
Great hotel and great staff
- 5/5
Clean room , staff , amenities , grab and go breakfast, happy hour drinks , modern and classy vibes
- 5/5
Really nice room, comfortable, great service. And loved the location too!
- 4/5
Great location, very clean room, cute decor.
- 4/5
Old hotel but completely remodel. Carpet and beds extremely clean, walls panted and modern shower and bathroom. Very convenient location, close to all main downtown attractions, cable car and bus stops. Area seemed safe enough (it’s still downtown SF). I’m 4 stars because the rooms and bathrooms are really really small. The bathroom sink was in the room itself, to say how small was the bathroom. It was not a problem for us as we were out most of the day, but if you have 2+ people with different habits, get ready to have not much personal space and privacy. Overall a good experience!
- 4/5
But it was balanced with what we payed. Don’t understand the “resort fee” in this hotel, it is obvious in Resorts but not in this type of properties.
- 5/5
Everyone was kind and courteous. Staff all around were great and very helpful and easy to talk to. I think everyone deserves a raise. Especially front desk Seba and Jay were amazing.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved the feel and vibe, walking out side and having so much to choose from. The staff was great and welcoming. The room was small but clean, my dogs loved their trip. Definitely will stay here again, the per friendly is a huge plus for us! The gelato place next door is a must!!!!
- 4/5
Clean room, bad breakfast, regular staff at front desk, excellent area for turists
- 3/5
Place was nice, though the room did have a faint mildew smell. $37 resort fee is absurd and totally not worth it. Worse was that Expedia didn’t disclose the resort fee when I booked (it did for another hotel nearby that I passed on)… I would have chosen a different hotel. Disappointed by both Expedia and the hotel for that.
- 4/5
We were there in January and the heat worked great. Breakfast wasn't much and we decided to eat at the French bistro next door, but only because we wanted to spoil ourselves. Parking in the nearby garage was $48 for 24 hours. Probably the going rate in a big city like San Francisco.
- 4/5
Great location! Hotel is clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
super cute, boutique hotel in a fantastic location. really great for a quick trip to the city. 10/10
- 5/5
The guy was so nice and welcoming I like him
- 3/5
Staff was rude on check in. AC was not working properly in room. Hotel was very clean and eco friendly.
- 5/5
I had such a great one-night staycation at the Hotel Triton with my dog Tigger! I had to be in town early the next morning and I'd always wanted to stay here, and I got an awesome rate here on Expedia. The room was nice and the bed was super comfortable. Pets stay free and Tigger even got her own food and water bowls in the room! Great location right near Chinatown and Union Square, and the lobby is retro and cool. I love the history of rock & roll bands staying here over the years. Shout out to front deskers Alice, Esmeralda and Jay for their great hospitality! Highly recommended!
- 3/5
Stay was fine, the staff did not clearly explain their
- 5/5
Yes. Everything was clean.
- 3/5
Room clean. Staff courteous. Room itself dated and scuffed up. Breakfast minimal at best.
- 5/5
We had a great stay!
- 5/5
The hotel was in a great location next to Chinatown's dragon gate entrance, a short walk to Union Square and I felt it was a safe area. Restaurants, shopping, tour pick up were close by. The hotel staff members were so sweet and helpful. The room was easy to find and clean... I can't say enough great things about this hotel and would absolutely recommend! Thank you for making my stay in SF so perfect!🙏
- 3/5
The shower head was loose and I couldn’t connect to streaming. Otherwise. Great
- 3/5
It's cold in SF right now. low 50s. Didn't get to my bed till' 1:30AM.... decided to turn on the heater... and it was broken. Was already unpacked and tired from a long day & didn't want to bother trying to complain and relocate to another room. So I bundled up in extra sweats for the night. But the room got so freaking'cold. Also the water wasn't that hot when I took a shower this round. I'll stay here again, but this trip wasn't so comfy. Woke up with some sneezing and runny nose. Hope this doesn't turn into a cold. Greeting personnel was great. Person at check-out not so nice.
- 5/5
All around amazing
- 5/5
Really good hotel considering such a busy area would definitely book there if your wanting to stay in Union Square area
- 4/5
Great place, location and staff
- 5/5
Spotless room, fun atmosphere and incredibly helpful, welcoming staff.
- 4/5
Once I managed to switch to an inward-facing room, noise was virtually non-existent
- 5/5
Did not have a car. Nice hotel. Great staff
- 5/5
Very good.))
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was great, location was amazing
- 5/5
Fun hotel
- 5/5
The check-in person was so friendly. It was very quick -( there is a self check in option we didn’t use). She gave us great suggestions about what to see and where to eat. The wine happy hour was a nice amenity. The room was very clean and comfortable. Great location, literally next to Chinatown in one side and the super high end shopping on the other.
- 5/5
All was perfect. Quiet, nice location, clean, friendly staff great coffee with grab and go breakfast great lil French cafes next door and other neighbor fabulous gealto spot.
- 4/5
Bed comfort was 4/5, nice pillows, but the AC was a bit odd (needs servicing) and a slight smell to the room. Nothing that I couldn’t overcome but that is what prevented it from being 5 stars. I would still recommend staying here and everything was so convenient.
- 5/5
Great little hotel. Close to union square, Chinatown, etc. . Although they say they provide breakfast, it’s really just coffee and some muffins. Nonetheless, will stay again and have a 10%off breakfast next door at a great French place😊
- 5/5
Valet is at fair price (just $15 more than self parking), room was clean, nice shower.
- 5/5
Awesome hotel overall
- 2/5
Had a cockroach in my room. Super disappointing.
- 4/5
Everything was great, except the internet outage for 2-3 days. The staff was helpful and I would stay here again! Great location, bed, bathroom and room!
- 4/5
Great ambience y well spotted
- 1/5
Was expecting a much better stay
- 5/5
All was great, the coffee, juices, croissants, muffins. We loved everything there.
- 2/5
If you’re looking for a memorable hotel experience in San Francisco, you . How this place got an 8.8 rating I’ll never understand. While their pricing resembles that of their branded cohorts around Union Square, the property feels more like an Airbnb than a luxury hotel. The rooms are tiny, the fixtures are miniaturized, and the amenities nonexistent. There’s no provisioning for parking and one lonely desk agent whose spirited response to every question is, “Perfect”. This place has views, no ambience, and no service but what it lacks in of pretense. I liken it to an Airbnb with the added bonus of a hidden $50 destination fee.
- 3/5
The receptionist at check out was extremely rude. She needs to be trained
- 3/5
The AC in the room kept tripping AB’s had to keep calling. The did provide a fan eventually
- 5/5
I stay at many of the lower end Union Square Hotels meaning under $250 per night and Triton is the best of them. One minor nit, the bathroom door was loud when opening or closing. Very minor but worth fixing.
- 5/5
I attended the HSB festival in the GG park. Amazing weekend in a world class city. ☮️💞😍🎶🇺🇸🎉
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Great location, nice staff, perks!
- 5/5
The location of the hotel was perfect for us and kept us one quick uber/lyft ride away from all of our stops. The hotel staff were professional and check in/check out was seamless. The complementary wine happy hour was an added bonus we didn’t know about. The room was clean and had great working AC/heat. We will be back and definitely recommend. Great for the price and very receptive staff/customer service.
- 5/5
The property smells soo good !
- 1/5
Considering how expensive this hotel is, the overall experience was shocking. The so-called breakfast was not a real breakfast — just a croissant and juice — and we were even charged for it. Only positive thing- front desk were nice.
- 5/5
Right in the heart of whatever you needed
- 1/5
Breakfast is a joke, used to be better
- 3/5
2nd time staying - it's ok. Room smells a little. Location is great. A little pricey for what you get. Grab and Go breakfast is basically just 2 types of pastries and instant coffee / juice. Don't have your hopes up.
- 2/5
There were not that many options for eating and for someone that is not in shape it was challenging to walk around because if I made a left out of the hotel it was a downhill walk which isn't an issue but to get back to the hotel it was a steep uphill climb. The hotel rooms have a wine cooler instead of a refrigerator which made it impossible for me to bring leftovers home when I did manage to find someplace to eat. The bed was rock hard which added to my chronic pain even though I was in one of the accessible hotel rooms. The room also did not have a desk where I could have used my computer and there is not a space downstairs that I could see that would let me do any kind of work. The rooms also do not have a closet.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only heads-up I'd give is that you shouldn't expect a room with a view.
- 2/5
The room was tiny, which wouldn't have been such an issue if there'd been any kind of window with a view of something other than the backside of other rooms. The location rocks, but I won't stay here again unless they guarantee I'll have a much better room.
- 5/5
Very convenient location and walkable to most areas for a weekend stay. Lobby a bit small for a “to go” breakfast …. Not enough seats but like the idea. HH glass of wine when I arrived was perfect

- 5/5
Very quaint and enjoyable place to stay.
- 2/5
Very less space in room, congested bathroom and breakfast was just for name sake
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable,. Loved the decor.
- 5/5
Beautiful decor in a traditional building that has been updated. Perfect central area, friendly staff and great perks like included social got wine and breakfast.
- 4/5
This is a great location and staff are friendly. Only issue is very small and old shower and timer lights so light turns off mid shower. Some furniture is outdated and drawers don’t stay closed. Otherwise, decent place to stay while touring area!
- 3/5
Loved the location of this hotel, very close to everything! The hotel itself was fine, not terrible but not great. Old, little bit of a funky smell, and very small rooms. Nothing fancy but we would probably stay there again.
- 5/5
The hotel is nice and friendly and it ha an excellent position
- 5/5
They had water and breakfast for free
- 1/5
Great location. BUT: Very small dated room, badly chipped bath tub. No shower curtain provided. Only 2 towels for 4 people. TV needs to be paid for. Breakfast only until 9am! Gym room uninvited. Overall hotel felt like a 2 stars hotel.
- 4/5
This is a solid option in San Fran, with a nice and easily walkable location. Quirky old building that they've redone nicely. We found a great local coffee shop, the cafe next door, while pricey, has a good brunch, bagel shop around the block good for to-go eats. We were in town for a music festival, so were gone most of the day until later at night, and as such did not get to partake in the evening happy hour. There is a daily resort fee added - be aware. The room was small, but doable for two, we found it a little dusty, but otherwise clean. And ladies of a certain age - the AC does not work, it's really just a fan, so if like me, you run a little hot, I suggest cracking the window and sleeping on that side of the bed!
- 4/5
Great location and fairly quiet. Rooms were clean. Note that if you have a larger family, you may find rooms small. Breakfast was very basic but included.
- 5/5
This is my second stay at the Hotel and I’m impressed again. Very comfortable and clean. I will definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
The staff were so friendly & the hotel is beautiful. The air conditioning sucked though & if was so hot in our room — hard to sleep. Pillows were also hard.
- 1/5
The hotel over charged me and would not refund.for the amount they charged I should have gotten a 5 star suite but instead it was not at all worth it
- 4/5
The Hotel Triton’s location is stellar. Rooms are very small and the beds are not as lush/comfortable as a Westin or W, but for a city hotel it is fine. Bathrooms are tiny with basic amenities. Rooms have basic coffee makers and should be upgraded to Nespressos asap! Plenty of food and coffee options close by, though. Front desk staff is attentive, helpful, and friendly.
- 4/5
The fisrt romm was interior facing and claustrophobic. For $20 i moved to a nicer corenr room, which was OK. It's an old building. THe areaw is very nice. staff was nice.
- 5/5
Loved everyone here! Everyone was extremely helpful and very friendly. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Great time
- 3/5
Very very poor breakfast. Rest is ok
- 3/5
Room had an “in window” old school ac unit that didn’t work. Room was overly warm and not comfortable. Had to open the window to the street (noisy).
- 2/5
The staff member at the front desk was rude and combative when we were trying to check in. Also, the shower would drip at night while also having the metal sleeve falling off. Urban amenity fee is ridiculous and should be included in the cost of the stay and not a separate fee especially since the “amenities” it covered are standard hotel accommodations. Getting over $100 in fees upon arrival is the reason I won’t be coming back to experience.
- 5/5
Friendly and convenient
- 4/5
Good to come back!
- 1/5
Really bad service and rude staff.
- 3/5
Nice hotel. Terrible breakfast. Should not be listed as "breakfast included." It was the worst breakfast I have seen anywhere in my travels around the world. But room was very nice.
- 5/5
Great location, service good, room clean and modern. Easy stay with my little dog:)
- 4/5
Very disappointed to be charged extra on top of full payment i made to Hotel.com. And no one can explain why?
- 5/5
❤️ this place!
- 5/5
Hotel was safe, quiet, staff was polite and helpful. Public parking is close. Breakfast is simple but reasonable.
- 4/5
Really good location to be able to walk to restaurants/bars/tourist things. The valet took away the stress of having to find parking which was nice. Free wine every day 4-6 is a great perk, however the breakfast is more grab and go rather than a full breakfast. Everything was clean but you can tell that you’re staying in an older building for sure. We would definitely stay here again but don’t expect a luxurious, 5 star hotel.
- 4/5
The rooms on the street were noisy but tolerable. The (grab and go) breakfast was strange, the hotel had a strong perfume smell, hotel was musty, our Deluxe King Room was much smaller than a cruise ship cabin. The valet service was awesome. The free drinks were a can of sparkling water. I’d give it a 7 rating. .
- 5/5
This is a nice property and the staff is terrific.
- 3/5
The hotel's location is very strategic because it is close to high-end shops and easy to reach from every great place to see.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Public transportation also nearby. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend Hotel Triton to anyone staying in San Francisco.
- 5/5
I stay here 3 to 4 times a year and love it here! Very reliable and reasonably priced.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s a nice place to stay. We will be back for sure!
- 4/5
Very good hotel and location. Staff is great and super friendly!
- 4/5
noanyone the 3 timeised
- 5/5
The location was great, the service friendly, and most importantly for us, it's a dog-friendly hotel with no fee for pets. The room was a little small, but overall we enjoyed our stay and will come back.
- 5/5
We had a brilliant stay, with a Lovely room and complementary breakfast too. Lovely helpful staff and the hotel is brilliantly located with good transport connections.
- 5/5
Very convenient and close to shopping, dining and shopping.
- 3/5
We stayed one night, the hotel was ok, a little tied and in need of a refurb. But staff were friendly and accommodating. The floors are not well sound proofed, we could hear the people upstairs walking around.
- 3/5
Rooms were small, but nicely decorated. I guess that is what is expected from SF. The free breakfast was really quite sad though. It was frozen waffles and some little muffins in a tiny room.
- 4/5
The staff were excellent, professional and friendly! Any issues were dealt quickly and they were all with a smile. Special kudos to the staff that clean the rooms, they leave them very neat and tidy. Only drawback I can mention is the breakfast experience, overall. The area used for breakfast can become too crowded quickly over busy times and the breakfast itself is poor. It is more coffee, a snack and some basic fruit to start your day, so expect this rather than a full breakfast.
- 4/5
Very small bathroom and space tight for 2 suitcases
- 5/5
Really good perks and great customer service.
- 5/5
Great location, right next to Chinatown.
- 5/5
Very nice front desk/reception
- 3/5
The room was cute, clean, but small. No chair or desk. The small refrigerator barely cooled. The air conditioner worked sporadically. There was no daily cleaning, not that we needed the sheets or towels changed every day but we were there for over a week and we had to ask for our trash to be taken out, ask for toilet paper, ask for kleenex, which all were quickly remedied. There is no place to hang a hand towel which is just odd bit that goes to the overall room set up.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at hotel triton! Staff were super kind and hotel was very clean and modern! Gelato place next door was yummy too.
- 5/5
This is a reliable and well-priced hotel conveniently located just across from the Chinatown Gate on Grant Avenue. I stay here whenever I’m in San Francisco because of its affordable rates and excellent location. The rooms are clean, the environment feels safe, and overall, it offers great value for the money.
- 4/5
Nice position, easy walk to Union Square. Clean and comfortable room. Very helpful staff.
- 5/5
All good
- 4/5
Great location, accessible (for our wheelchair) and staff are friendly and helpful. Shonnie and others provided excellent tips about the city and there is a great cafe and a gelato place next door. Appreciate the filtered water fountain on the 6th floor and the walk-in extra large bathroom with beautiful hardware/safety rails.
- 5/5
This is my go to hotel when in San Francisco. Great location, staff and overall wonderful hotel.
- 5/5
We had friends fly in and meet us for the weekend. It was an excellent spot to introduce our friends to San Fran. They want to come back to the hotel and bring their family. We really appreciated the staff and their thoughtfulness.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and professional. I really like the Hotel Triton!
- 4/5
Great location, friendly staff and free wine 4 to 6 every evening.
- 5/5
Comfortable hotel in good location. Staff was super friendly. Breakfast could use a little work, but no other complaints. Good value.
- 2/5
Poor breakfast, no room service, bad baths without ventilation an no sink
- 5/5
nice
- 5/5
This place is funky. Very cool staff. I like the rooms. It's probably not for everybody. You need to understand that San Francisco boutique hotels are different. If you don't want corky then you need to go stay the Holiday Inn. Personally I like how unique these places are. This place is at the entrance of Chinatown. Depending on what you're doing this might be a great location for you. It's right where the high-end shopping is. It's on Bush Street which is a good Street to be on. Again, these individually owned boutique hotels are all about the experience. It's cool. They all have their own flavor and it's fun exploring them. I've stayed at more than a dozen within the city.
- 5/5
Our stay here was great. The location is perfect for walking to nearby restaurants and easy spot to pick up ride shares. Our room was clean and comfortable and the front desk waa always friendly and professional. As noted, the breakfast is continental and your morning coffee is in the lobby. We used the fitness center and for the size it is decently equipped although bleak as it's in the basement. Overall I would recommend Hotel Triton and would stay here again.
- 4/5
Room was very nice, though a bit cold (had to run the loud heater most of the time). Nice view of Chinatown. Breakfast very basic.
- 5/5
Great location, great staff. Cocktail hour is a plus. We have stayed here twice and will be back
- 5/5
We love the Triton. Perfect location, excellent staff, comfortable rooms, and wonderful hospitality.
- 3/5
My partner is in a wheelchair, and although the hotel is ADA compliant and accessible, the chair only just fit through the door and we couldn't even get it around to the side of the bed he's used to sleeping on. Cramped quarters. Otherwise a fine place - although I did hate seeing The Epoch Times in the lobby. It's an ultra-rightwing consipiracy tabloid.
- 5/5
Nice "happy hour" with a free glass of wine too!
- 3/5
.
- 3/5
Convenient location for everything I needed and a generous happy hour in the lobby. I wouldn’t stay there again though.
- 5/5
overall, i'd stay again with the great location and VERY friendly staff! Everyone I encountered was so nice.
- 5/5
Great staff memebers
- 5/5
Very clean . For our trip is was near of alot of places we wanted to see. The staff us very friendly
- 4/5
Older place with small rooms, but comfortable. Centrally located and generally quiet. View was internal to other hotel rooms, but meant it was probably quieter. Lots of local shops nearby to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner. Happy hour drinks each afternoon.
- 3/5
I would have liked my room cleaned each day and would like some eggs and bacons for breakfast and would not mind paying a bit for that.
- 3/5
Nice hotel in good location for me with nice amenities like wine, grab and go breakfast even a bonus cocktail. Basic price was very good but the resort fee was high. A loud alarm went off in a room nearby and continued for about at hour disrupting sleep badly. When I went to the lobby to report it, the desk clerk said “I know, the manager had been notified and will be here in the morning.” implying it would keep going all night and she and the manager didn’t care. She would not give me another room so it was very upsetting. It was fixed about an hour after it started but it left bad feelings in what would otherwise have been a nice stay. Hint: the valet parking is very expensive but the Stockton garage is only a half block away.
- 5/5
I cannot imagine staying anywhere else - the people are great, the location is perfect, and the property has everything you could ever need.
- 5/5
Clean!!!
- 3/5
Family trip. Average 3 star hotel,a bit run down, small room with two queens and a tiny tiny bathroom. Only towels for two people if 2 of 4 booked guests are teenagers. Complementary breakfast is coffee, tea, juice, granolabar, toast,Eggos, muffin and a fruit. No allergy options, no protein. Parking is a public parkinghouse on the next block.
- 5/5
Location is wonderful, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the place smells amazing and most importantly happy hour is the best!! Definitely would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
- 3/5
The receptionist was very short and rude. Upon checking in, she made some snarky comments that were offensive. While parking wasn’t too far, it is not on the property. Be ready to pay $42 to park it overnight or $65 (plus tip) for valet. The room and beds were tiny! Definitely not queen size. We asked for coffee and the machine was never brought to us. The breakfast was subpar.
- 3/5
According to the website, you’re supposed to get drink vouchers as a vip amenity. Never received anything. Additionally, I know upgrades are based on availability, there were premium rooms available and I wasn’t upgraded (not a big deal), but still would have been nice. The worst part was the guy who checked us in, never gave us his name, slightly offended us. He saw two guys checking in and asked if a king bed was needed, even though I specifically booked a king bed. Not the best first impression
- 4/5
Everything creaks, nothing shuts quite right, the doors open out into the hallway, you gotta pay attention! The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, it was an attractive room, it was just old. Not poorly kept, just old!
- 5/5
One night SF trip. Triton was perfect!
- 5/5
Great accommodations
- 4/5
Nice property and good location! The staff is excellent! My only critique is that the rooms were too small and the breakfast wasn’t great!
- 3/5
I was charge an extra 37$ per night for Urban Amenity Fee for services that we did not used such as the gym. The quality of the breakfast was very low. I would not even considered the offer as breakfast included.
- 4/5
I stay here three or four times a year! The Hotel Triton is a reliable, reasonably priced, safe and clean hotel located right next to the Chinatown gate on Grant Ave. It’s always a pleasure to come back!
- 3/5
Friendly person at the desk, but the room was small and very dark. The location was very convenient for where I needed to be. Unfortunately the mattress on the bed was sloped due to over use and I woke up with a bad back and will need to have it adjusted which is a shame as I had a lot of walking to do the next day. Overall an average stay for me.
- 5/5
The only thing that would need improving are the sleeping pillows. They are currently very lumpy.
- 4/5
Good location. Odd room design, could do with more power points to charge tech and towel rails for drying.
- 5/5
First class, personal service in a unique boutique hotel just outside of Chinatown. Guests feel like family with Helaine at the desk, no request too small- Room was a bit tight, but well appointed.
- 4/5
The hotel is walking distance close to my office and there are plenty of places to eat and drink that are also walking distance. The staff was very friendly and I appreciated the daily happy hour and the complimentary water that is provided.
- 5/5
Everyone at reception was super nice and the lobby area was very cool! There's a little karaoke bar right across the street and the location makes it great for getting a night shot of the dragon's gate all lit up if you like that kind of thing! The architecture in downtown San Francisco is just a vibe.
- 5/5
I am very happy with my stay. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Shonnie was super nice at check in. Loved the gelato place right next door. Super close to Chinatown. Filtered water was excellent.
- 2/5
I hope you're an early riser - cause they don't restock the breakfast. Came down at 8:45 am to find everything gone, asked the front desk and they said they'd bring some more up, but never bothered. It's not a huge thing, but kind of soured my stay there. If you pay for breakfast, and you show up during breakfast hours, seems reasonable to expect to get some breakfast.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel in ideal position. Staff really friendly. Free water a bonus as was happy hour with good choice of wine and beer.
- 3/5
We had to read and use the computer while sitting on the bed. Never again.
- 5/5
Well located within 10min walk of tram and BART. Clean property is great condition. Would stay again
- 5/5
Wish there was better communication with staff and guests
- 5/5
Will surely stay there again & wll recommend.
- 5/5
The Triton was a unique, friendly, artsy and comfortable place to stay near chinatown San Francisco. Parking was just down the block and is safe, clean and conveient. The staff are wonderful and always kind with a smile to helpful. The hotel is truly wonderful and one a of a kind stay near many food options. I would totally staty there in every time I hope to visit San Francisco.
- 5/5
The location is great accessible to Chinatown, high end shopping (if that’s what you want) and a 30 minute walk to fisherman’s wharf.
- 5/5
Great time
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
It was directly across from China town, making it an excellent location.
- 5/5
Hotel is located close to several shops and restaurants, including the fantastic Cafe de la Presse and Amorino Gelato right next door, where discounts are offered for guests staying at the Hotel Triton. Booked room and communal facilities were clean and well-maintained. Staff were professional, courteous, and happy to give recommendations on local sightseeing and eating spots.
- 3/5
Nice place but it would be great to not have to leave the room each morning to go get a cup of coffee. Maybe consider putting a coffee service in each room like most hotels?
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
very nice hotel for the price that we paid.
- 2/5
Dirty
- 5/5
Been a while since I stayed here. Has maintained standards and would definitely stay again. Easily walkable to Chinatown and Union Square. Quick ride to Fishermans Wharf. Close to many nice restaurants.
- 5/5
The visit was fine. The hotel gave me information about staying longer, but would have charged a fee for a later checkout.
- 3/5
Great location, nice room although a little small. Very good reception service and happy hour perk. But very let down on the "continental" breakfast, which is just a tiny room with paper plates and lots of different bread and packaged jams/condiments. There was also nowhere to sit as the room was so tiny, so ate in my bedroom, but the room wasnt cleaned as housekeeping is done upon request which means I couldn't give them enough notice to clean my room. Definitely the worst breakfast experience ive had in recent memory.
- 5/5
The free happy hour was a hit and such a great way to meet the other visitors from all over the world. By far, HELENA is the best staff member. She constantly went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
- 4/5
Great staff and place. The breakfast service had only one oven toaster and the room was very small which caused lomg lines in the morning
- 4/5
Nice hotel.
- 3/5
We had a fine stay at Hotel Triton. It was a nice walking distance to the bus station, and a quick bus ride to the main tourist attractions by the wharf. The room was very small, but clean. The beds were actually full size, rather than the queen size that they advertised. They had water and ice on different floors, which made for a lot of elevator traveling. The tissues were very rough, so you may want to bring your own. The breakfast was basic muffins and croissants with very little seating. We took food back to our room. Note that there are separate fees for parking and a "resort fee." The parking is secure and close, but expensive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but some things could be improved.
- 4/5
Very nice location
- 1/5
Dog barking right next to us all night so hard to sleep and had a business meeting at 7am and just fees they hit us with
- 4/5
There was a cutout circle in the shower stall glass near the shower head that caused water to go all over the floor which was an interesting design choice. Other than that, great stay, very friendly staff, great location.
- 4/5
Buen hotel, buena ubicacion. Solo deberian especificar que el estacionamiento esta en otro edificio.
- 5/5
I stay at Hotel Triton two to three times a year and have gotten to know it well. It offers great value for money, is safe, clean, and conveniently located. It’s always reliable! The proximity to Chinatown, North Beach, and downtown is fantastic. Having Café de la Presse right downstairs makes it even better – I always eat breakfast there. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the downtown area!
- 5/5
Staff was nice and very helpful
- 5/5
This is a charming, quaint, European-feel hotel. The room was tight but well-appointed, and the hotel is within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see and do.
- 5/5
They provide happy hour of free beer and wine.
- 5/5
My stay here was amazing staff was great hotel was clean and it's in a very convenient area.
- 4/5
We opted for the valet parking, which was an external service but was very prompt regardless and gave us some peace of mind. Rooms are very small and the air con is loud, but service and the lobby were excellent and the continental breakfast is a big plus for busy mornings.
- 4/5
The staff was awesome. But it was a pity to hear the voice of the corridor.
- 5/5
Great property with an edge. We will be back!
- 5/5
We had a wonderful few days staying at Triton. The rooms were nice looking and clean. The linens and beds were very comfortable.
- 5/5
We loved staying at Hotel Triton!
- 4/5
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location close to public transport and attractions. Limited number of tables for breakfast. Local area felt safe.
- 5/5
Overall pleasant stay. Continental breakfast could be a little better, but great hotel.
