Reviews
The hotel's location is highly praised by guests, with many appreciating its proximity to local attractions such as the pier and Fisherman's Wharf. However, there are consistent complaints about the small size of the bathrooms and issues with breakfast service and quality.
- Excellent location close to local attractions
- Cleanliness of rooms and hotel facilities
- Small bathroom size
- Issues with breakfast service and quality

The only good thing was the breakfast and location. Great buffet and service for breakfast, horrible front desk and unavailable bell hop service. Rude receptionist when calling front desk. Hidden occupancy fees of $22 per person including kids. Location was great right by the wharf and very walkable.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the heated pool and ample breakfast options. Close to Fisherman’s Wharf attractions and to public transportation. Perfect for home base for our week-long family vacation.
- 5/5
The hotel itself was spotless and clean. But oh, the breakfast! This is honestly the first time I’ve ever been at a hotel where I couldn't WAIT to wake up and go get breakfast. The spread was amazing: eggs, sausages, bacon, pancakes, cold cuts, fruits, veggies, coffee, juice, yogurts, and multiple types of breads, bagels, English muffins, and toast. The pool area looked amazing, though it was a bit too cold during our stay to fully enjoy it. However, I loved that they had great outdoor seating areas with little mini fireplaces both by the pool and right in front of the lobby to sit down and relax. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it for families!

We were very excited for this hotel. The only thing going for it is the location & breakfast. To start we booked a 1 king room and got 2 doubles. The plugs were very loose, a safety concern, and we struggled to charge any of our devices. There was essentially no water pressure and we asked to use a microwave and we were told it would be $20. I am extremely disappointed for the price of this hotel.

She was very uninformative, unhelpful and had very bad attitude. The most shocking part was that there was a huge cockroach in my bathroom. Overall, I would never want to go back to this place even if it is a free.
- 5/5
Centrally located and easy access to to nearby attractions. Great breakfast and pool
- 5/5
Great location and good breakfast
- 4/5
Brilliant breakfast and staff were amazing. I asked for a quiet room and had the outside hvac units right outside my window so it was pretty noisy but great location.

Great Breakfast, Convenient Location, Friendly staff
- 5/5
Clean, convenient and easy parking! Great breakfast as well.
- 3/5
Avoid the 2500 block of rooms. Very noisy. Right above the dumpster part of the hotel that gets emptied every morning around 5. It woke us up both mornings of our 2 night stay. Very annoying, not restful.
- 4/5
Tje breakfast was great every day. Nice selection to pick from. Hotel was nice and close to a lot of stuff.
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean. Location is very convenient and close to Fisherman's Wharf. The breakfast was excellent!

This is a huge, busy hotel. Our room was large, clean and properly equipped, if unexciting. Plastic and paper cups were a cheap touch but the towels were wonderful. There was no view. Our bar experience was disappointing, with only one working bartender and no table service for a rather large crowd. The breakfast was impressive with fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, pancakes and pastries. Even at 7 am it was crowded, although there was plenty of seating, by the time we left, all the tables looked to be taken. Great location for walking the Fisherman's Wharf area and walking distance to our cruise dock.

Breakfast was very good. Check in was terrible! We arrived at 2:25 pm and checked in, but had to wait for a room. Fair enough. But they said for us to check back with them later to see if a room cleared up. So we did and had to wait on a long line with new check in people — who were given rooms immediately! If we’re already checked in, it’s the HOTEL’s responsibility to let US know, not the other way around. Terrible process. Terrible front desk service. Otherwise, everything was acceptable.

The location is good and the room size is comfortable. No toothbrush and toothpaste provided
- 4.5/5
Excellent location. Smaller bathroom than usual
- 2.5/5
The Best part of the hotel was the breakfast. Fresh daily towels Upon arrival and we enter the room had a moldy horrible smell. I even got sick that night. Next morning I complained by the third day they sprinkle powder in the carpet we left windows open then they vacuum when we return that night room was better.

The best of the seven hotels we stayed in on our West Coast road trip. Amazing breakfast, super helpful team of staff, perfect nights sleep... great location away from the main city centre.

Wonderful hotel. Would return.

Clean and central location. Wide variety of options at breakfast. Good value for money. Safe area.
- 5/5
Excellent location and comfortable rooms. Breakfast good but a little manic as there are a lot of people. Staff do an excellent job getting people seated and clearing. Kitchen staff are always replenishing the food items.
- 5/5
I had a medical emergency on the second day of our stay and the staff were fantastic! I couldn’t ask for better care and support from a hotel staff.
- 5/5
Clean room, breakfast is excellent!
- 5/5
Very clean, Great Service, Wonderful breakfast buffet!
- 5/5
Good location and in walking distance to many restaurants
- 4/5
Best hotel breakfast ever!
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable and close to pier 33. Breakfast was much better than most breakfasts that are included with a hotel stay. Finally there was a comfortable SMOKERS area. Many travelers from Europe smoke so that was nice.
- 5/5
Should have coffee ☕️ all day long.
- 3/5
Hotel was clean and well cared for, air conditioning unit is size of a washing machine and sounds like an aircraft in the room with varying temperature through the night. Location is good if you want really touristy area. A long queue for checkin and breakfast like a school canteen. It’s okay but wouldn’t stay here again
- 3/5
The power went out in our room, then came back on at 2 am, waking us up. When had breakfast the first day with no problems, then the second day, they want to charge my daughter $25 for each of her 3 children despite stating kids when registry was done with kids.
- 5/5
Breakfast was fresh hot many choices for all taste- clean rooms comfortable beds- walk to many shops and restaurants- parking us expensive-$60 aday- pay to park every where so this was still a great option- pier 39 is wonderful place to walk to and experience great food and some live street acts!
- 3/5
Also I forgot my toothbrush & razor they did not have complementary ones, I had to pay $15 :(
- 5/5
Clean room and location
- 5/5
awesome stay
- 5/5
The location and breakfast are great, was a little difficult finding the parking
- 3/5
clean rooms, excellent breakfast but bathroom layout is very poor and no ventilation.
- 5/5
The rooms were nice and clean, the hotel staff was very kind, and generous with extra towels and toiletries. The breakfast buffet was awesome, it had everything you could want for breakfast. I would stay there again on our next trip to San Francisco
- 5/5
Fantastic location for independent travellers sightseeing around San Francisco, walking distance to ferries and cable car. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, we even had a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge!. Breakfast was ok for the basics. Loved the outdoor fire pits and easy self parking. We would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Comfortable, clean rooms.
- 4/5
The hotel was fine, but it was just a hotel. They had clearly done some renovations in the bathroom but were cheap. Like you could tell they just laid a new tub over the old one, so that the new one felt "bubbly", like you're standing on a big air pocket below. The location was incredible, we loved the easy proximity to Fisherman's Wharf. Because of that, we spent little time in our room. But if we'd been in our room more, we would've been disappointed.
- 4/5
It's a nice hotel. I think it's a little over priced for what you expect for your money. Fisherman Wharf is definitely not what it used to be. Homeless is out of control.
- 5/5
The hotel and the staff were great
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, good breakfast, fantastic location.
- 4/5
The room was clean. Stuff was friendly. Breakfast was great.
- 3/5
A little bit too noisy in the area. Very loud music was playing late at night.
- 5/5
This is a very nice hotel in a good area. It is close to the cruise port 27 and pier 39. They allowed us to check in early with no additional feen
- 5/5
One of the best hotels we have ever stating everything was phenomenal breakfast buffet that’s included is the biggest I have ever seen out of a hotel. Everything is five star convenient to all attractions. Price is very reasonable for what you get.
- 5/5
Great buffet, clean and comfortable hotel in a great location.
- 5/5
Very good motel with great complimentary breakfast and fantastic location near/in fisherman's wharf area.
- 4.5/5
Nice, clean hotel. Breakfast has lots of variety. Parking lot is only for cars less than 6 inch tall - we could not park at the structure and had to search for alternative parking.
- 4/5
The hotel was clean and in a great location. IMy only disappointment was the time of breakfast . The breakfast starts at 6:30. We had early tours and an early flight. So we only had breakfast one of the days we were there. Suggest having to go options.

- 4/5
Buffet breakfast is a great way to fuel up for a dayout sight seeing. Property is a little dated, but clean and comfortable. No restaurant onsite for lunch or dinner.
- 3/5
Close to everything Good selection for breakfast The room was a 5 minute walk from the reception Very small bathroom and you needed to Jenga yourself to sit on the toilet
- 4.5/5
A great place to start our California road trip. Check in was easy and staff were friendly and helpful, lovely and clean throughout hotel, nice room, comfortable beds, brilliant location, kids loved the pool! Breakfast was excellent! It was perfect for what we needed. Thank you!
- 4/5
A bit odd you need all the family member to present in able for us to be served at breakfast
- 5/5
Comfortable beds Breakfast was very good
- 3/5
The hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired. The first room we were given was dark, dingy, and had cobwebs all over the ceiling. Front desk staff moved us to a new room which was smaller and overlooked the alley where cars pull in to the “front” of the hotel. It was loud at all hours. If you’re looking for location, stay here. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, I don’t recommend this property.
- 5/5
Room very tidy and bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on!!! Very noisy outside though all through the night
- 5/5
Staff very friendly Rooms very clean Good selection and efficient breakfast

Good sized room. Great buffet breakfast and the staff were really lovely

Location Staff in breakfast hall made so much noise. Banging into people often with trays too. Chaos. Gym was bad we booked hotel for the gym really and it was rubbish. Bike half broken. Ended up having to travel to a gym and pay to use their facilities instead

location to all that SF has to offer . No ability to open window to allow fresh air into room - was very stuffy. Oh and the tv remote battery was glitchy, needed to have been monitored and battery changed out.
- 5/5
The employees at this hotel were amazing. All were friendly, knowledgeable & helpful! The free breakfast provided was the best I've had at a hotel. They had a variety of different foods & were very organized in how they got people through. Never waited very long. The location to Fisherman's Wharf was very good. I'd definitely recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
The breakfast buffet was cruise ship quality.
- 4/5
good location and accessible to all
- 3/5
The property was okay, smaller room, a portion of the carpet was taped together, the breakfast was decent.
- 1.5/5
Beds are clean, location is good The smallest bathroom ever. The shower doesn’t work properly.

Great location. Large room with all amenities. Breakfast was plentiful, though very busy at times, which they managed very well. Nothing
- 4/5

- 4/5
The location was perfect. The rooms were clean and well designed. The breakfast was 10/10. Enjoyed the feel of the hotel and appreciated that they held our luggage for us the day of checkin and checkout so we could explore SF without worry. Several members of our party thought the beds were hard and uncomfortable. The views from our 2 rooms was terrible and the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel. The view was of the roof but worst than that was that there was some kind of AC unit right in front of the windows and it blocked the light into the room. This made the rooms feel dark and dungeon like. It made me feel a little claustrophobic and I would not have been able to handle it for more than 1 night.
- 3/5
Was amazingly close to Fisherman’s Wharf. We were given an accessible room at check in, when we asked if we could change to the room we booked (i.e. a non accessible room) it was explained to us that the hotel was extremely busy due to the Microsoft conference. This made us feel totally worthless and unimportant, however the staff able to arrange another room but we were reminded several times it was a complimentary upgrade. The room we received was at the corner of the hotel and extremely noisy, starting about 4 in the morning with vehicles in the street outside.
- 3.5/5
Very noisy directly above us on the 4th floor,Hard time sleeping, otherwise everything was fine
- 5/5
Initially the receptionist was rushing, a little outdated hotel but in very good condition, We will stay here again if our travel plans bring us back to SF

Staff was great. Showed up before check in and they were able to give me another room to check in early. Also, room had plumbing problem, and the staff QUICKLY switched my room to another without a problem. Breakfast was good, place was organized, and staff was GREAT. Water pressure was not the best.

On a positive note, the breakfast buffet was delicious, and we were impressed with the variety offered each day. Our biggest frustration wasn’t with the hotel but with the city itself. We understand that COVID changed how many businesses operate, but most places didn’t open until 10:00 a.m. to noon and closed between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. It made sightseeing and shopping more difficult than expected.
- 4/5
Nice place in a nice location. The only complaint I had was that I could hear the person upstairs walking around in their room.
- 4/5
Only stayed one night, good location & great breakfast
- 4/5
felt like someone could easily kick the door in because of the gap.
- 5/5

- 5/5
The staff were super friendly! The rooms were nice and clean. Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 was a five minute walk away. This is a great choice to stay if you’re wanting to go to those places. I was very pleased with my stay!
- 3.5/5
The room size is good as well as the location, but the facility is old and the "view" is the parking lot. The staffs are cold, and the water pressure is so low.
- 3.5/5
There were teenagers out in the hallway yelling multiple times during the night. I guess there was a prom happening because A LOT of teenagers in formal attire were checking in for rooms when we were. Also, our room was next to the road and there were multiple cars doing burn outs till 1:30am. We also didn’t have enough wash cloths for a double room (we only had 2).

Great place. Convenient and near everything!

The underground parking is a very tight if you have a larger vehicle. It would be nice to see complimentary bathroom items like lotion or a shower cap. Mikey the Bell Captain is very helpful and knowledgeable.

The location close to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 is the main attraction the F tram passes right by the door giving good access to downtown. The aircon in the room was very noisy. I cannot understand why bottles water is supplied only once on arrival when we were staying 8 days! Only supplied 2 coffee pads per day. I’ve been in hotels which cost half as much and are more generous.
- 4/5
Great location. Easy to walk to many hot spots. Staff was friendly. Breakfast in the morning was your typical buffet. No complaints. Lobby bar was a great spot to unwind. Rooms were clean. Maybe a little outdated but overall great experience.
- 3/5
The staff at breakfast were super friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed interacting with them every morning. The kids loved the food as well as there is a lot of variety. The rooms themselves were ok. If looks nice from a far but if you look closely you will notice some things like wallpaper installation done poorly or cracks on the wall here and there.

Great location within walking distance of Pier 39 and Pier 33. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was excellent, and everything was very clean. Parking was also very convenient and easily accessible from the hotel, and compared to other hotels in the area, the rates were very reasonable. The only downside was that the bathroom was quite small and cramped. Overall, it was a great value, and I would definitely stay there again. the bathroom was quite small and cramped.
- 3/5
Perfect location, outside looks poor but when you walk in it’s very nice. The rooms are gorgeous, the cleanliness is very good. The property was beautiful, but the staff omg!! Extremely rude!! Every single staff member. It was memorial weekend and very busy. I was there for an important reason. Two of my kids were graduating from USF. It was the perfect location to be. We had two commencement to attend and two graduations to attend. I had very little time to enjoy the facilities. We first arrived the lines were long to check in. When you arrived to the desk it was like speaking to a robot. The front desk were rude. They asked how many are staying I told the we have two queen beds, two people but the men will be here late so we would have four people. She wrote down only two people. So when they arrived early next morning we had to eat breakfast and run out to our first meeting. We got in line to eat breakfast. Of course it was overly packed. They let certain/special people ahead just walk in and eat right away. But pulled my group of three to the side to check and make sure we were with the hotel. I guess because some were dressed ready to go we were in comfy cloths prior to getting ready for our commencement celebration. They told me only two of you could have breakfast. The worker said you put only two people down. I explained they met up with us early this morning. I asked could I pay for today we are really in a rush. the employee was very rude like we were sneaking people in. They told me if I pay for today I will have to pay an additional $30 for four days in my room. I told her they will have their own room today so I don’t need to pay additional in my room for four people. for the men right now. This hotel has a reservation for another room for two more people under my name as of that same day ??♀️. So horrible, but the worst part is the way they made me look and feel. We left and ate at a small cafe down the road. Incident#2 when we first checked in there was a large line. We checked in and they forgot to give me two water bottles.
- 5/5
Breakfast Very small bathroom

- 5/5
Breakfast was amazing, front desk was open 24 hours was a great place to stay
- 3/5
Awful rude unhelpful staff. Very comfy bed and clean room. Breakfast ok.
- 4/5
Location of the property in proximity to Pier 39 was fantastic. It was a super easy location to navigate within the rest of the city as well. The rooms were really nice as well as the beds. Our bathroom was super small though. The included breakfast was fantastic. The downside is that if you have any tours that begin before 6:30am, there are no food options to select from inside the hotel. You are close to a Trader Joe's, Starbucks and Walgreens if needed. The outside fire pits could use some attention as they are a little dirty and the seating around then is well worn.
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful and the free breakfast was amazing. It was located within walking distance of Fisherman’s Warf so that made it convenient to leave my car in their parking structure and get to explore the area.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Riu! The location is perfect & the breakfast was amazing!!
- 5/5
Great, clean hotel right at Pier 39! Room was nice-sized, hotel lobby bar was great, and breakfast in the morning is solid! Fresh fruit, roasted mushrooms, deli meat, yogurt parfaits... it was great!
- 5/5
Breakfast was outstanding more than you could ask for in a buffet.
- 2/5
Hotel's carpet were extremely dirty in the hall ways and in the room. The shower area of the room was not maintained at all and was very dirty and smell very rusted and because there was not ventilation, therefore smell rotten as well. I wanted to stay for the memorial weekend but I didn't bother, so I just left the hotel after one night, and I am glad that I did that. Staff at the breakfast, they were very rude and not helpful, since we had a child to feed. There is only one manager (Lady manager) who tried to help us. Any how, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, unless there will be a major renovation, structural wise and staff wise.
- 5/5
Great location, parking on site. Convenient and safe
- 3/5
Didn’t start well. Elsewhere was good other than WiFi
- 5/5
My room was ready before check-in and this is the second stay at Hotel RIU near fisherman’s wharf in a row where I could check-in even a little early. Breakfast is the real proof of cost versus convenience. Hot fresh coffee and no picky eater underserved. I have trouble choosing between crispy and chewy bacon and yet Hotel RIU’s bacon is both.
- 5/5
Our stay was awesome. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

The hotel is very busy, staff are helpful when you can reach them. I called for two requests, one in the evening, and one early morning: my in-room refrigerator was not working upon my arrival (they replaced it once I was able to reach them); and two, for bell service to help with my bags at check out. Both times the phone rang and rang and rang, to the point of my hanging up and repeatedly trying again. I felt that if I'd had an emergency, this could have been quite unsafe. Breakfast is quite good, lots of fresh fruits, and an assortment of breakfast foods. The dining area is busy and loud, but I think this is to be expected in a large city. My room was on the fourth floor, which was nice as I had no one above me so probably quieter, but it was an interior room and had no view other than the HVAC system. I would have loved a city view or ocean view instead, but I suppose there are only so many of those to go around. The bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. I slept well. The fire pits are lovely, but the cushions on the seating all need to be professionally cleaned or replaced as they are dirty and stained. The resort fee is charged whether or not you use any of the services, which I did not (fitness center, pool, business center, safe...). But again, this is probably customary in larger cities. If you're looking for a convenient location, this hotel fits the bill.

This was a nice surprise, better than what was expected. Excellent location to Pier 39, clean rooms, comfortable bed, and very polite staff.
- 5/5
Stayed 5 days with my wife. This hotel was fantastic. Great location near the fishermen’s wharf and walking distance to tons of great sights. The bed was comfortable room was clean. The hotel lobby was lively in the evening with a bar that seemed busy every day and lots of seating outside with fire tables to gather at. Breakfast was awesome, tons of selection but can be very busy depending on the time you showed up (earlier is better if you don’t want to wait), The fitness gym was very well equipped if you enjoy a workout. There is a Trader Joes and 7/11 very close for any supplies you need. If there was any issue I had it would be my room was on the ground floor, road noise and people in the street talking was a thing. As well if you like a cool room like us the air conditioning was loud. We tried to run the fan to drown out the noise but it only ran when it cooled so you would have to listen to it kick on and off many times in the night. Minor but was noticeable. I would recommend anyone stay when visiting.
- 3/5
Breakfast was strong for buffet options. No restaurant for lunch/supper, although there was a shop n go mini store. Overall, not my cup of tea, would not return.
- 5/5
Breakfast buffet was pretty great, especially since it’s included! The people that worked here were all super friendly. Location felt pretty safe although you do have to rely on a vehicle to get around the city if you want to visit areas beyond the wharf.

Location to Fisherman’s Wharf was perfect. We could walk everywhere. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very well organized and never had to wait. Employees running breakfast really seemed to enjoy their job and where very happy. Pillows way too hard. Having to pay for parking nightly.

Best included hotel breakfast we have had. Great location for wharf and piers. Nice outdoor seating with fire tables.
- 2/5
We pay high prices for resort fees and the pool was outside, you couldn’t use it. Weather was freezing. The gym was horrible & not cleaned. The spin bike makes a terrible noise. Yoga mats need to be thrown out as they were disgusting. As couple traveling we always want a good gym as this part of our vacation routine. The breakfast & location was good thing there.

Breakfast and lobby were great. Location was great. Room was dated and shower water pressure was marginal. San Francisco water tastes bad, so a water filter in the lobby area would have been nice. Staff was excellent.
- 3/5
Incredibly noisy room with loud motorcycles and trash pickup right below us all hours of the night. The breakfast was awesome
- 3/5
It was a 2-5 min walk from Fisherman’s Wharf/Pier a Trader Joe’s and 7 eleven. The location was the best part. The shower took 5-7 minutes to heat up for a hot shower. If we moved the valve to cold water by accident we then had to wait another 5-7 min for hot water to come out. The chargers seem to malfunction we would wake up with half charged phones. Also one of the lights inside the room 4131 was not working
- 3.5/5
Good location, nice breakfast Not quite clean, windows do not open at all..

Good location for activities. Room was clean with bit of wear showing. Breakfast was fantastic.
- 4/5
The room was clean but the bed was very firm. The bathtub wouldn’t drain after its first use but they did fix it the next day. The breakfast was incredible. The staff were cheerful and helpful. It was in easy walking distance of everything I wanted to do while in San Francisco. I did however only had a view of the commercial air handler and roof, nothing else! That was the most disappointing, anything aside from the mechanics of the building and roof would have been appreciated.

The location of the hotel is great! 3 minute walk from the beach , pier 39 is a 3 min walk , the cove is 10 minutes walk . Lots of restaurants and shopping. The hotel is well maintained , very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is awesome and has everything you could ask for in breakfast buffet . Fresh and clean . The room is nice and clean .bedding is very comfortable . although the bathroom is maintained and very clean , it’s the only thing I didn’t like in the hotel .It’s very small and outdated . I really enjoyed my stay there and I will be going back !

The hotel location is fantastic and the stash are generally very helpful and courteous. My reason for a three star rating was based on personal issues like bed and pillow comfort and noise levels between rooms. The mattress being too soft for my back; and the pillows being too thick for my comfort level. Also the quality of breakfast foods, especially the eggs, in my opinion is substandard. The eggs fell and taste heavily processed. Overall however I think the hotel offers reasonable value and the location makes it's good choice for people seeking a fun bay/harbor experience.

Great place to stay. Very clean and walkable to many touristy places nearby. There is a Trader Joes nearby which is very helpful. I'll recommend this place if staying in SFO. However for room service we had to go to the front desk everytime, they don't pick call. May be they are low in staff which must be very common in expensive city like SFO. Also no food/resturant available in the hotel.
- 3/5
No lotion only soap in bathroom..no robes. Pool heated.. overall felt hotel tired..bad hallway carpet..room door not flush with door jam. Great breakfast!! Parking price add-on expensive!! Great location for tourist !

good location, great price, good value overall.
- 5/5
The breakfast was awesome, eggs, bacon hashbrowns, pancakes, cereal, bagels, English muffins, oatmeal, fruits, juices. as for the pool we were there. It wasn't the hottest week. So we went and looked at it, it looked very nice. Looked very inviting, but we did not partake in the pool. Because of the weather. as far as the staff on this location, everybody was top. Notch amazing, super helpful. Anything we needed. They were more than happy to do anything we needed. The location made it ideal for all of our sightseeing. I couldn't have asked for a better spot.
- 4.5/5
Overall we had fun. The staff were nice, the rooms were clean. The only negative experience we had is around the breakfast. No matter what time we went, it felt always crowded. Riu Plaza in Miami Beach is said to have 284 designated guest rooms. The one at Fisherman’s Wharf has 531. The one in Miami Beach has almost twice as big a restaurant for breakfast as the Fisherman’s Wharf one. No wonder it is always having capacity problems during breakfast time. Can you please consider extending the area? Maybe consider customized cooking stations where guests can request their eggs to be prepared their own way? Surely customer satisfaction would be much better. Thank you for reading.

All of the staff we dealt with was great. Breakfast was decent. The firepits are a good touch. Parking is too expensive in addition to the room. Almost $70 just to park at the hotel I'm staying at is absurd. I STILL HAD HAIR IN THE TUB FROM THE LAST PERSON. The walls are thin. I woke up multiple times from the creaking floor above me and people talking in the hallway. There is zero water pressure. Makes even brushing your teeth difficult. On a possitive note, All of the staff we dealt with was great.

Excellent breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. Our room faced the main road and was noisy. At 4.30am there was a lot of noise each morning from a truck doing something in the street. Tram noise started early.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice! And the breakfast was so good! It was something we looked forward to every morning during our stay.

Overall the hotel was great. The staff are amazing and helpful. The breakfast is a buffet and has a variety of options. Pool is nice as well but too cold during this time. The rooms were clean tidy and decently spacious. Only issue is the wifi isn’t the greatest and at times slow.

We didn’t have a chance to use the amenities as it was a short stay. However, the property was very well maintained & super convenient. Despite having to pay for parking, we felt good knowing our vehicle was secure in an underground parkade. Breakfast was also good; lots to choose from.
- 5/5
Don't be fooled by the exterior, the inside is fully updated and beautiful. The central location is wonderful and walking distance to Pier 39. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding, the best I've ever had!!
- 5/5
One of the best free breakfasts I've ever had. Service was incredible. Can't beat the location a block or two walk from the wharf and trolley. Loved it
- 4/5
Walls are thin so noise above your floor wasn’t the best. It was acceptable. Everything else was good and the free breakfast was very good
- 5/5
Had breakfast only once- as the lines were very long and I just went elsewhere. Got in line before it opened at 6:30 am- found it odd that the eggs were pretty hard already and the pancakes were rubbery as it had just opened. The vagaries of a buffet. The fresh fruit and bakery items were good.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great and the room was very nice and clean.
- 4/5
Breakfast beats most hotels providing free breakfasts. The staff was exceptionally helpful and cheerful. The room is decent size and clean.
- 4/5
Very clean and great location . Excellent service from the cleaning crew, breakfast staff, Monica from the snack coffee Store awesome, however the check in lady was rude and not customer service oriented.
- 5/5
We were in a level room and what stood out was that we couldn’t hear the noise outside, that was something that worried us. Room was clean, AC is noisy so if that is something that you can sleep through your good, breakfast was good and I liked that they seat you and you don’t struggle with looking for a table. Love the location because it’s close to everything
- 5/5
Nice place but 1 problem the free breakfast Buffett I wish they never offered it cause the line out door. Waited 1 hour then we left so upset
- 4/5
Breakfast buffet was over the top!

Great location on the wharf. Great breakfast. Good value.
- 5/5
The check-in process was a highlight: parking right at the entrance was easy, and the staff member, Jenny, was incredible. After learning that we had just gotten married, she kindly upgraded our room, which we truly appreciated. Our room faced the courtyard and was exceptionally quiet. While the hotel itself is a bit older, the facilities are very complete and well-maintained. The parking situation was also very convenient. We loved the 'seamless' touch of being able to return our room keys right at the parking exit after checking out. A truly smooth and wonderful experience!

Well maintaned place. Not extravagant, but high level compared to the area.
- 3/5
Clean place. With good breakfast. Stay four nights but the room just clean twice. No bottle water supply except two from front desk. No hot water boiling kettle in room. Room electronic such as phone, alarm clock, iron etc stay in last century old fashion style. Only the newer equippment is the flat screen TV. You need to bring along your own comb, tooth brush, slipper, hair care and bath roth. It is a bare room with almost nothing.
- 5/5
Convenient location. Great breakfast selection.

Excellent location, walking distance to the warf. Fire pits out front and by the pool for great seating areas. Said it was heated, but not enough to swim on a cold day. Spa would be nice.

We only had breakfast once and whilst good food it was a little too busy but I’m sure there are quieter times. The rooms were spacious; the bathrooms are small but it was just a base to explore the wonderful city of San Francisco so not a great issue. We would definitely return; clean, quiet, good value and perfectly located.

I'm going to preface this by saying I've stayed at many Riu's over the years and they are usually lovely. This one was not. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very rude front desk attendant. She informed me that if I really wanted a King bed (yes that's why I booked one) I would have to be on the first floor (annoying but fine). She put me in the room across the driveway immediately next to the front door so I heard literally every single person that drove in and then walked in. I was woken up about every 30 minutes. The room had some serious issues including a sink that didn't drain (I told the front desk this after the first night but nobody ever came to fix it), lights that constantly flickered, a shower that was so narrow my hip was hitting the shower bar, and the bathroom so tiny I could not be in the bathroom and close the door to the bathroom at the same time unless I wanted to stand in the shower to close it. The included breakfast was luke warm at best and when I tried to take a cup of tea back to my room I was told I could not. I asked for a to go cup and the very rude woman told me no they don't allow that. The rooms have to go cups in them with coffee but I don't drink coffee and the only tea to be found was in the breakfast area. The building also had no ice machine and I had to go to the other building to find ice. The lobby area was also very dirty and every single table had some kind of debris on it.

Located near Pier 39 so was close to attractions, tours, eateries and transport. The waterfront was a hive of activity with lots of shopping available.

Lovely hotel with very polite staff, mostly very clean, some areas a little over used and in need of update but as to be expected with a busy hotel. Great amenities, fabulous breakfast with so many options. Really pleasant stay would stay again.

The Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf was great. The breakfast was great during our stay with a wide variety of options and attentive staff. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had great beds. Staff were very helpful, professional, and friendly. The location is outstanding for visiting many of the local attractions. The bar was also busy and inviting, and a real social hub in the evenings. Just a great overall experience, and would definitely stay here again!

I love the location, lovely rooms and yummy breakfast to start the day. I had trouble signing into the WiFi. Need a sign to let travelers know, one need to change the password. Lots of time trying to figure out since I never experience before. Then the front desk person is yelling at you for not getting it.
- 5/5
Only stayed one night but they upgraded us to a suite which was luxurious. Location was perfect for all the sightseeing venues. I would stay there again without question. They even gave me a bag scale to weigh my bags before I headed off to the SFO international airport which is about 20-30mins away- just under $40 US for an uber.
- 5/5
Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delightful. Staff was very kind.
- 5/5
Our room was clean and comfortable, Hotel Riu is well located for everything we wanted to do. The fire pits were a nice touch, and the hotel staff were wonderful. Bag check was very convenient, we stored our bags before and after check in instead of leaving them in our car. Breakfast was really good for an included hotel breakfast. Lots of variety and pretty fresh.

Location, staff, breakfast, and clean Bathrooms ate outdated.

Humiliating experience with the breakfast staff, and front desk staff was even less helpful. At check in, we informed staff of my number of guests , asked us to write them down which were written on the invoice breakdown. Next morning at breakfast we were down one guest and breakfast staff made a scene talking over me to get out of the long line we waited in to fix the issue with front desk. To add to the experience the front desk said we didnt have the correct number of guests added but when i asked for her to bring the invoice i signed out , there in writing were the names of all the guests i wished to add. They wanted to proceed to charge me to allow us to eat their breakfast but after that humiliating experience i opted to eat elsewhere. I will never be staying here again.
- 5/5
Breakfast was amazing and all staff were so polite and kind. The hotel was extremely clean and staff were always making sure things were in order. The only thing was our room was on the end of first floor and it was really, really loud from all of the street noise. Outside of that our stay was amazing! We will definitely stay here next time we visit family. We may just ask for a different room.
- 5/5
Perfect location for all attractions. Breakfast was amazing too. I highly recommend .
- 4/5
Good location in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. Staff very accommodating when we asked for a room change. Excellent buffet breakfast. We were on the 4th floor and if you are a light sleeper the hotels a/c or extractor system is a little noisy
- 5/5
Very close to lots of attractions in the area.
- 5/5
Breakfast was good. Hotel was clean and well presented. Room was very tidy. Only improvement is making the heater/air con much more quiet and removing the heating controls from the wall if they have no purpose, it was confusing
- 5/5
Hotel situated in a wonderful location.
- 4/5
Great place to stay with my family! The breakfast service was wonderful and the staff were kind and extremely helpful. Only 2 complaints: for the price, would’ve liked a microwave in the room. And the bathroom (toilet and shower) was super tiny. Overall, great experience!
- 4/5
This was a very nice hotel with an amazing breakfast buffet and very comfortable bedding. It was convenient to many attractions and safe. The parking fee was steep in my opinion. The downside was we were on the second floor across from the transit bus station, and the noise from the street was very loud in the room. I think a different location within the hotel would have made our stay more enjoyable. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
We walked and walked. This is a great home base to explore from. The breakfast is one of the best we've ever had while staying at a hotel. The beds were comfy, and rooms clean. I recommend the Riu to anyone visiting SF. N/A

We have difficilty in walking, we were placed way in the back corner. Had to pay for a microwave.
- 4/5
Some of the staff were rude. Especially during breakfast, staff were probably overwhelmed with the amount of people coming down for breakfast. But still didn't feel welcomed. Breakfast area, you can only eat there cannot take the food to your room. And you can only go in once. Regardless what you get. Staff made funny remarks as to how much stuff we traveled with. Unfortunately I travel with my child with special needs and required additional equipment.

For the breakfast buffet, they have a very strict policy that all food & drinks (even coffee!) be consumed onsite and we're really more of a grab a tray and head back to the room kind of family. They also will only seat you when your whole group is together. As a group of 4 this was a little challenging some mornings. We would've appreciated some free coffee in the lobby to tide us over until we could get our kids moving. But overall it worked out fine and we would definitely stay there again.

Nothing
- 5/5
The breakfast was phenomenal. Everyone was friendly. Proximity to food and shopping.
- 4/5
The internet was not fast. The water pressure is very low.
- 5/5
Complimentary buffet breakfast was an added plus! Probably most luxurious breakfast I've had in recent memory at a hotel. Tip: Get breakfast early for freshest food!
- 4/5
Location was good, the grab and go in the lobby was good, and the all you can eat breakfast was also good. Downsides: there was a lot of noise coming from the room above and next door and the front desk staff was terrible. It took forever to get help when I was checking out, then they couldn't print my receipt for work and said they'd email it but I had to call to get it.
- 5/5
Everyone was kind and very helpful. The room was spotless when we checked in. Only stayed 2 nights so we didn’t have our room cleaned.
- 5/5
The breakfast was the best hotel buffet breakfast every.
- 5/5
It was super close to everything we wanted to do by the bay, within walking distance.
- 5/5
really clean
- 5/5
The room was spacious and spotless, check in was easy, and the buffet breakfast each morning was fantastic! The location of the hotel was perfect and walking distance to Fisherman’s wharf/pier 39
- 4/5
Hotel is old but well kept. Pool area is nice. We did stay in off season but managed to enjoy a few hours at pool. Bartenders in lobby seem very unhappy with working. Watched one actually grab coffee beans with her bare hands to put on someone’s espresso martini. (Barf emoji)
- 4/5
Felt like an older hotel, it was clean and staff were very polite. Breakfast was better than your typical "continental". Very good location for popping over to the peir
- 2/5
Lack of amenities in room. High cost for room plus parking and resort fee. Will choose a different hotel when we come back next month.
- 2/5
Beautiful property but significant issues with our reservation. Took over 1 hours to get everything worked out. The assistant manager, Lesley, kept asking if we had booked through a 3rd party. We called the hotel directly to make the reservation. This was a family wedding. There is another one in 6 weeks. The plan was to book several rooms at your property. No chance of that after this experience.
- 5/5
Grand lobby and nice outdoor resting area, clean and spacious room (a little old but not big deal). Hearty breakfast included with the stay. Short walk to Fishermen's Wharf.
- 5/5
Clean comfortable rooms and excellent customer servic.e.
- 3/5
Save environment, save water, the water flow in sink made me exhausted, this is waste time instead of waste water.
- 4/5
Cleanliness and staff were great. Common areas are redone well. The rooms are dated.
- 3/5
The breakfast was great with plenty of options, and the staff was very sweet and welcoming throughout our stay. Everyone we interacted with was helpful and kind. The only downside was the AC in the room. It didn’t work properly and seemed quite old. It felt like the cooling system could use an upgrade. Replacing it with a newer system would definitely improve the overall experience. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.
- 5/5
Our stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing. The location was perfect. Room was great. And the breakfast was incredible. We hope to get the chance to stay here again!
- 5/5
Location close to lots of entertainment and sight seeing, complimentary breakfast

Hot water
- 4/5
Room clean! Buffet awesome!
- 5/5
Room was wonderful, however, your front desk staff when I was checking in, wasn’t the friendliest
- 4/5
Really nice hotel and very friendly staff. Only problem was terrible water pressure in bathroom. Sink had barely a trickle.
- 4/5
-breakfast buffet options are great -the housekeeping staff and bar staff were very nice. Two things that can definitely improve and get them five stars are: -the concierge that checked me in was not very friendly. Even though I joked he did not smile and looked annoyed when I had to ask him a few questions. Definitely giving out “I don’t want to be bothered” vibes. -the fan mode in the AC felt like it was not being cleaned or filter was not changed. I started coughing more and felt congested the whole stay whenever we’re in our room.
- 5/5
Excellent stay
- 5/5
Brilliant staff
- 5/5
Everything was great, less the $320 in taxes when we showed up
- 3/5
There were bugs in the shower like 4-5 of them
- 5/5
I must say we had a wonderful experience. Very professional staff and well maintained hotel. Great location.
- 5/5
Excelent place
- 5/5
Clean, reasonably priced and great location
- 5/5
Great space and location
- 4/5
The hotel is of a good standard in most respects and is well located. Our only issue is that the hotel did not honour $26 parking credit as advertised on Hotrls.com website for Gold Mrmbers.
- 4/5
Great rooms. Clean and very nice breakfast included with stay.
- 4/5
It was nice
- 5/5
Best hotel in SF. When we visit, we always stay. Love the parking, breakfast, and location. Can’t wait to be back
- 4/5
Room was clean. Says free breakfast but you’re not allowed to take it to the room. That makes it a little challenging when traveling with young children. Otherwise hotel was nice. Great location too.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Nice open bright light hallways. Clean room and a great breakfast!
- 5/5
Great walking distance from the Pier
- 5/5
Buffett breakfast was delicious
- 5/5

- 5/5
By far the nicest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Everyone was super friendly and the breakfast was amazing
- 5/5
Great location and breakfast buffet
- 4/5
All aspects of the staff and amenities were great.
- 4/5
Breakfast was great
- 5/5
Clean room. Good breakfast
- 5/5
Room was really nice. Mostly quiet in halls.
- 4/5
Downsides: Rooms are just OK. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are TINY. Walls (and ceilings) are thin, with noise coming from neighbors and floors above. A fan app on our phone helped drown it out a bit. This is not a quiet hotel. The room HVAC was a little tricky but sufficient. I would go back in the future, but probably ask for a higher floor (we were on the second) to minimize noise.
- 5/5
Near plenty of shops for shopping close to sightseeing!!
- 5/5
Receptionist is friendly, efficient, explained all things about the fees, the dining, etc. Room is spotless, nice. Hotel is flexible to accommodate my early check-in. Really appreciate it. Breakfast is wonderful, lots of variety but looks so fresh, and they are delicious. Outdoor seating with firepit is amazing..
- 5/5
Everything was excellent but the buffet breakfast stood as fae better than expectation. The staff was friendly, efficient and very helpful. The room was very good and the value was outstanding. We would gladly stay there again.
- 5/5
The room was immaculate! The hotel is gold star standard. Hotel Riu Fisherman's warf is walkable to pier39 and Ghirardelli chocolates. Lots of restaurants around. The perfect stay!

Yes
- 5/5
The breakfast is phenomenal. There so many choices. And location is 5 star too. Walking distance to a lot of your attractions. Highly recommended!
- 4/5
The overall environment is good, especially the ground floor public area. room is not as good as the public area, a bit old style. The water is the room runs slow. Breakfast is good, many food choice.
- 5/5
Perfect location (at the pier in minutes and a nice Trader Joes also minutes away) incredible complimentary breakfast (the selection is mind boggling for a free breakfast!) and friendly staff. The outdoor fire tables are also awesome and we needed them for the cold and rainy weather. The only thing they need to fix is the wifi. It’s not good enough for 2026 and would be the only reason I wouldn’t go back. Being that it’s an older hotel, you can hear noises so bring a sound machine. I’m a light sleeper and it wasn’t an issue with the sound machine.
- 5/5
Great Staff , Beautiful hotel and room bathroom was a little small but other than that everything was perfect. Also breakfast was delicious!! We will be back with the kids. My husband and I went for our Anniversary we had a wonderful time with you guys thank so much
- 5/5
Sean at the front desk was incredibly helpful and welcoming. Our room was well-appointed and clean. The breakfast buffet was over-the-top and the location was perfect. We really couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Hope to be back soon.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room, beds and pillows. Good breakfast. We arrived early and they took care of our bags while we went for a walk.

- 5/5
The Hotel was fantastic, the breakfast amazing and it was the perfect location for catching the 'Hop-on bus'.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, good breakfast
- 1/5
The staff was not helpful and rude. My car was too tall for the parking structure and a security guard had to help me get reimbursed for the fee charged for 2 days. I was left to find parking around the block on my own. The room was not as described and when i complained, they wanted to argue. The staff yelled at me when my uber came and I was walking towards it saying it had been waiting for more than 2 minutes.

Good

Staff was nice
- 5/5
Excellent! We highly recommend the Hotel.
- 3/5
The room was in good condition. However, there was a small problem concerning the water pressure in the sink and the soap dispenser. The water pressure was not very strong. The soap dispenser was very hard to use because of limited hand strength.
- 5/5
perfect location amazing hotel and the best hotel breakfast i have ever seen
- 5/5
Location, breakfast
- 5/5
Included breakfast is amazing!!!
- 5/5
Excelente hotel. Muito bem localizado e com otimo atendimento. Vale a pena para quem quer visitar San Francisco, havendo diversas opções de restaurantes na volta. Quarto é o tradicional, com duas camas de casal.
- 5/5
Great product…knowledgeable staff…wonderful breakfast buffet
- 5/5

- 5/5
Yes. Everything was great.
- 5/5
Clean room, nice breakfast! Parking was excellent.
- 3/5
Upon checking in, got to my room found a hair in my bed had to have a housekeeper come up change the whole bedding then the heater got stuck. The room was completely hot already irritated. I had to drive three hours home in the middle of the night. With a four-year-old stayed in the room maybe five hours until I couldn’t take it anymore. Talk to the manager wouldn’t give me a refund because our policy says nonrefundable asked if we can switch it for another day and hopefully that other day would be better and the manager declined so basically lost out on $400 for five hours which was pretty ridiculous. The manager didn’t seem to care. I didn’t seem to want to help definitely wont won’t be back here.
- 5/5
Nice modern room. Great check in experience (helpful staff). The walls are very thin! The bedsheets had spots on it, but someone came right away and brought us new sheets. The breakfast is amazing!! So much selection and very nice display. The hotel is also in a great location. Very close to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39.
- 3/5
Update tv services to rent movies etc. Offer room service, have bottle openers and wine glasses in room, don't scold guests.
- 3/5
The room and buffet breakfast were OK. The bar was outstanding and also location to the Wharf was very good. The price for this property was too high relative to the overall quality.
- 5/5
- 4/5
The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly.
- 3/5
In addition, noise from outside the room door was also clearly audible. There were occasions when children were running along the corridor and screaming, which further disrupted rest. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and well maintained throughout my stay. The breakfast was acceptable, with a wide variety of food available, but it was fairly standard Western breakfast and nothing out of the ordinary. The breakfast area can become very crowded later in the morning, with long queues forming. Waking up earlier helped to avoid this. The restaurant staff were efficient and well organized in assigning seating despite the crowd levels. The lobby area is nice but usually quite busy. There is also an outdoor fireplace area that looks inviting; however, it was often occupied, so I did not have the opportunity to use it during my stay. If I were to stay at the hotel again, I would certainly request a room on the top floor to minimize noise disturbance.
- 2/5
Sink water was cold and lots of noise from people above
