The suite was spacious and had a lot of charm!

check all your parking options because parking isn't that convenient-
- 4/5
No private parking you have to find parking area sometimes 8 minutes away.

Overall stay was great, breakfast was great, along with staff. My only complain would be to make the flooring in each room stronger so you don’t hear footsteps at night from the floor above. I got little disturbed at night as we could hear people walking in the upstairs room past midnight and into the morning hours.
- 5/5
Very clean, spacious rooms, high ceilings. I recommend the suite for a few extra dollars. Beds were comfortable. Will stay again! Safe area too.
- 5/5
Lovely room, I felt like a princess! The breakfast was nice.

Staff was super kind, incredibly helpful, and the rooms & lobby were gorgeous.
- 4/5
The location is excellent, with easy access to many of the best attractions and restaurants in Japantown. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The pillows were a bit thin, and the bathroom lacked proper ventilation because the fan wasn’t working. Aside from these minor issues, we had a great stay and would happily return.
- 4/5
A little shabby to be honest. Towels were scratchy. Pillows were not great. A/C was old and dusty and not all functions worked. Needs a refresh.
- 5/5
The breakfast was great and the Keurig coffee in the lobby was a nice touch. The place is within a short walk to Japan town where there are many restaurants and shops.

Beautiful “Old World Charm” The building itself date back to 1902. Ours was a small room, but it was very cozy. The price for the room was very good considering it’s San Francisco. Noisy street Public parking at $35 overnight.

Felt like we stepped back in time. Charming old hotel that is well maintained and amazing location.
- 5/5
Breakfast was delicious, staff was amazing. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The room was clean, the ambience was charming, and the hotel staff were kind and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was good and included waffles, cheese omelets, sausage, and assorted baked goods. They also stored my luggage for me after checkout until my evening flight.

Wonderful place and staff!
- 5/5
Room was quaint and clean. Beautiful old hotel. Close to/walkable to many restaurants. Trolley line to harbour 10 minute walk
- 4/5
It was very nice to have a continental breakfast, and an air conditioner. The hotel had a very old, charming, Victorian feel. The front desk staff was often behind the corner on the computer, and we would have to wait and get their attention. More than anything, the reason keeping this from five star was how hard the bed was. It was so hard. I could barely sleep. In three nights I didn’t have a single good night rest.

It is a classic early 20th century SF hotel. My room has a few problems. The bathroom is small and crowded. The placement is electrical outlets is awkward.
- 4/5
Breakfast is really good Windows very old and with no sound proof and the curtains were very basic and let in a lot of light. Also, the room had portable air conditioning which was very load and did not work properly. Fortunately, the nights were cold and we were able to sleep without having the air conditioning working.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Majestic. The hotel is beautiful and full of so many fine details. We loved the decor and all of the vintage light fixtures and artwork in ornate gold frames. It felt like you were stepping back in time in the best way possible. We had a suite that was very spacious and comfortable, and we were very thankful for the a/c unit. We also loved the bar and the complimentary breakfast. No complaints, we would love to stay there again.

The room wasn’t particularly large, but everything was spotlessly clean, and the decor was very charming

Second time staying here, really kind stay, great breakfast, coffee/tea/water always available and a great low pressure vibe. We’ll always come back to Hotel Majestic.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. We checked in during the afternoon after we were told to wait 15 minutes for them to finish cleaning the room. As we dropped our stuff off to meet with friends, we thought it seemed clean enough. When we came back at night, we noticed a small bug in the bathroom. When we took a closer look, we realized it was a baby roach. It ran away before we were able to kill it. Then we saw an adult roach behind the tub, but couldn't reach to kill it. The rest of the night, whenever one of us went to the bathroom, we were treated to another round of roaches. We brought it up to the Front Desk in the morning and showed photos. They called someone to take care of the roaches. When we asked if they were going to spray the room, they said no, but that they would take care of it. They did not offer to change our room or do anything else. When we came back to the hotel later that evening, after getting new keycards as our current ones no longer worked, we saw a dead adult roach on the floor next to the bathroom sink and a swarm of alive ones crawling on the floor and walls. After killing what we could every time we went to the bathroom, we were greeted with another horde. Checking out, they did not ask us how our stay was, we brought up the bug issue again. They were cold and just thanked us for telling them so they can tell maintenance.

The hotel itself has a classic atmosphere, and the location is quite convenient. The restaurant had a classic atmosphere that I really enjoyed. The hotel itself has a classic atmosphere, but there were several disappointing points during my stay. First, the bed frame was unusually high, and one of the side posts was loose and shaking, which felt unsafe and could potentially cause injury. The breakfast was average at best — more comparable to a typical 3-star hotel rather than what I expected from this property. The older woman at the front desk tried to appear friendly, but I personally felt a subtle dismissive attitude toward Asian guests during interactions. In particular, when explaining that the parking lot was located about three blocks away, the tone and manner felt somewhat condescending and uncomfortable. Overall, the stay did not match the level of hospitality and comfort I had expected.

Breakfast selections were very good. I enjoyed the cheese omlets and toast. The mattress was very firm. A little hard on my hips and knees.
- 2/5
This hotel was well located but other than that, it was a disappointment. The room was musty and beat up, the bed was uncomfortable and the shower was dangerous. The free breakfast was sparse and the free water ran out partway through our stay. The bartender was nice, but made the worst espresso martini I’ve ever had. Would not recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
The Majestic is one of my favorite hotels to stay at when I’m in SF for business. It’s in a safe neighborhood that is close to everywhere I need to be. The rooms are cozy, clean, comfortable, and quiet. I have stayed in both a Jr Queen Suite and Premium Queen and both are exceptional. I’ll continue to book here when it work for me and highly recommend to anyone who needs a nice place to stay in the area.

Rooms too loud! Its good that u have air/con but its only making the noise problem worse! Try double-layered insulating glass for extra sound dampening, I could hear every car on the street. Or put walling over the alley to reflecr noise back onto street.

Stayed in the king bedroom suite. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Classic sf Edwardian style era, not your standard four cornered room. Room was quiet. Was disappointed the fireplace didn’t work - purely decorative. Public Parking lot nearby. Breakfast offering was nice.

Location There was an issue with an employee following me up to my room, then an hour later knocking on my door for 10 min. When I confronted him later he made up some strange story of why. I packed my bags & looked for another place immediately. Unfortunately it was evening so I barricaded myself in as the door only had the one general lock. Management please feel free to reach out to me so I can tell you the month/date/time do you can remove this creepy employee.

We got married at sf city hall and stayed here. We absolutely loved how beautiful this hotel is and the staff were great. I will absolutely be back again. They let me use one of the lobby chairs in my room for hair and makeup and they let us check out a bit late. What a cute and wonderful stay.

Wow… like stepping back in time ! Very old school, very clean huge suite overlooking Sutter Street. Our 2 nights in SF were awesome. The breakfast was great and the desk staff more than outstanding…. Its not The Ritz but its a really cool vibe and we highly recommend but really would like to keep it secret its so cool of a Hotel !

In truth we only booked this spot for the fireplace, only to find that the fireplaces are for show, the bed canopy is also for show, and there's no amenities like a breakfast or anything. Staff is nice but also didn't give us the right location for parking. The hotel parking sheet itself shows 2 locations that you're not even allowed to park at, which more speaks on management not updating any of their notices. Our room alone was still really neat despite not what we expected, I would not go into this with a fancy mindset like we had though lol
- 4/5
Very friendly staff and nice old building with lots of history. Air fresheners were a bit much, and the mattress was a little bouncy but we had a great 6 nights there.

I like the room - it was clean and spacious The breakfast! It was sorely disappointing as it had so much carbs and just a small egg omelet and cheese slice in the middle or a hard boil egg.. there was no bacon or sausage or baked beans - typical stuff you will see at the breakfast bar. So it was extremely disappointing to see what they had.. it was bread, waffles, cereal.. too much carbs!
- 5/5
Staff /wifi / breakfast all good .. hotel really good location too.
- 2/5
I told the front desk employee that I wanted a quiet room upon check-in but I knew that he was not going to upgrade me to a higher floor room or a room with a bigger bed (I paid for a double bed) based on the price I paid on hotels.com so it was futile to request it. You get what you pay for and so lesson learned on my part. I don’t recommend this hotel unless you can fall asleep like a log and not be bothered by the loud footsteps of the occupants above you.
- 4/5
I loved this Victorian hotel! My room was spacious, with a queen-size 1/4-canopy bed, high ceilings, crystal chandelier, carved wood wardrobe, claw-foot bathtub and easy chair. Breakfast was very good too. Bus stop across the street. Wish they served bacon at breakfast. Some of the wallpaper is starting to peel in my room. I had trouble with the tv but the desk clerk sent someone up to help me. Would have appreciated some basic written instructions and a channel guide.

Amazing experience with staff . Gave 4 stars condition because you have to remember it’s a 124 YO place! Not perfect but lots of character and charm of the glamor of recent yesterday! safe neighborhood 10 minutes from anywhere and easy walk to Japan town which was a great experience at some local restaurants.
- 4/5
A decent property with a great location and old-world charm, but one that comes with the trade-offs of staying in a heritage building. The complimentary breakfast and unlimited drinking water were a thoughtful touch and added good value to the stay. However, being on the 2nd floor meant we could hear every footstep from 3rd floor guests walking above — the thin floors and poor sound insulation make this a less-than-ideal choice for light sleepers. The property has limited space throughout, creaky floors, and the queen-size rooms are far too small for two people — I'd strongly recommend booking a king-size room, which is significantly more spacious. Overall, a solid stay if you appreciate character properties and can look past a few old-building quirks.
- 5/5
Great hotel, clean, really cool vintage architecture and furniture, and great breakfast!
- 4/5
Old style hotel. Nice suite. Very comfortable bed & pillows. Nice bathroom. Good breakfast. Nice touch of the free water bottles and free biscuits to be taken. I am sure it was an excellent hotel years ago as it really has the feeling of it. The entrance of the hotel needs to be updated as it really does not give the feeling of a 4* hotel. Please remove the dead plants/trees and clean the entrance, as it is very dusty. The main door needs to be repainted. The windows in the Herbal suite need to be cleaned outside and the net curtains need to be changed and please change the shutters, as they are really in a bad state. Window frames need to be change too as you hear the noise from the traffic outside. Lucky that there is not lots of traffic at night time. Doing all of this I would have given a 10 to the room.
- 5/5
This place is a classic. I would highly recommend. The breakfast was not great but it was food. There was also no soap or body wash, which would have been nice. Small things which did not detract from it being a really cool old place.
- 1/5
We requested a quiet room at check-in, yet were given a room next to the reception, directly facing a busy road that remained very loud throughout the entire night and into the morning. Because the hotel is older, the windows and walls did nothing to block the constant noise. At 2 AM, after lying awake for hours, I went to the front desk and pleaded for a room change. They flatly refused to help me. I ended up getting no real sleep and the room was essentially unusable for its intended purpose. I understand that older buildings have limitations, but offering zero assistance when the room was clearly uninhabitable is unacceptable.
- 4/5
Overall nice stay, good location - bathroom was clean but the hotel itself is old and the curtains & drapes were not super clean.
- 4/5
Location Very « busy » room, clattered in my opinion but I understand some people like it. But price and location were great!
- 5/5
Beautiful, historic building. Very clean and the staff were amazing! Would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly staff old but clean
- 3/5
Breakfast & coffee was good. Only issue I had was loud a/c in room. Very comfy beds made it worthwhile.
- 5/5
Such a cute hotel! I didn’t realize when I booked the suite that it was basically going to be a one bedroom apartment! I love the Victorian styling and the whole vibe was immaculate. We were here to go to a show at The Fillmore and it was a great location, 10 minute walk. Three minute walk to Japantown.
- 4/5
I get it it’s an old hotel, but it could use some modern details. The bed creaks A LOT. It looks pretty old but there are ways, using modern techniques to fix that. Also, what’s up with the bed being so tall? One could really get hurt falling off. Getting on and off can be difficult. There’s no sitting on the bed, you have to hop or climb to get on it. Not sure if that’s how beds were in the olden days but we didn’t like it. Another thing is the TV, could it be any smaller, older, and have less channels? I doubt it. The bathroom floor is very slippery and there is practically zero shelf space for toiletries. Overall we had a good stay, but those details do matter. Thanks.
- 2/5
My partner and I really liked the hotel and stay but they charged us for a romantic package that we never requested. My partner only inquired about it and it was in our room when we got to the room. The hotel said we should have questioned it. Why would we when we didn’t approve it or request it.
- 5/5

My keys to the two rooms I rented kept expiring. Not useful when you have your shopping accoutrements piled up, then you have to go back downstairs to get your keys updated.

I came to San Francisco for 3-days. I prefer hotels with character and history and the hotel met my expectations. The room was incredibly spacious and charming. The bed was comfortable. The morning breakfast was filling. Kenny the evening bartender was personable. We walked our way around the city and returned every night exhausted so didn’t spend a lot of time on-site. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
The suite was really nice and wasn’t too expensive. Hotel located in safe area
- 5/5
I had a very pleasant experience at Hotel Majestic. The room was very clean and airy with a great view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was very both nutritious and delicious. I enjoyed the coffee and many flavors of tea they have. The location is also very convenient. I can walk to Japantown to visit the shops and restaurants. I recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Charming place in a great location. It was built in the Victorian era so if you're expecting the latest and greatest this is not it. But I will definitely stay here again when I return to SF.

Continental breakfast was great and yummy! Room was super cute. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and some dried glue looked like it was running down the wall, but nothing I couldn’t ignore for the duration of my stay. Overall, I would stay here again. Location was nice, and the staff was friendly.
- 5/5
I liked the fact that the rooms were quiet, and well lit. Plenty of towels and the DISH TV worked as expected. The shower head/spray was very relaxing, and the breakfast options were very good. 5 Stars.
- 4.5/5
It was beautiful. The staff was really helpful and they had free coffee and water. The location and facilities were good.
- 2.5/5
The first room we had had a weird smell, they were able to change us to a different one, though. Tv wasn’t smart so we weren’t able to connect to streaming services, and frequently lost signal so any available show was also disrupted. I requested in advance if it was possible to have gluten free bread or other baked goods, which was denied. However they had naturally gluten free items available during breakfast like apples, yogurt and eggs.
- 4/5
Nice if a bit tired. Grand bedsteads and curtains. Water pressure is somewhat low. Terrific fellow running the bar.
- 5/5
The cleanliness, great hospitality, and great service
- 5/5
The location was ideal as it was close to family, the buses, and Japantown. Breakfast was adequate. The waffle-maker is a popular go-to and can develop a line, so go early. While there is no meat, there are the typical Sysco products you find at hotels. Typical tea and coffee selection, including teabag chai. Although my room didn't have a microwave, there is a communal one in the lower level. The gym in the lower level has nice natural lighting in the corner of the building with windows and shutters for privacy. The floor is tiled rubber mat. The corner elliptical works. The smell in the lobby was off-putting, but it mainly stayed only in the lobby while I was there. The keycards often stopped working, but it was easy enough to go back to the front desk and have them reprogrammed. Overall rather pleasant and convenient. I would love to go back.
- 5/5
My cons: Parking is awful. AWFUL. There is no parking at this hotel. They should consider getting a lot partnership and adding a Valet. Because staying at an upscale place and having to drive around forever looking for parking and walking blocks away in heels or waking up at 6am to move your car for street cleaning absolutely kills the vibe. Breakfast was just okay. First off the dining room is gorgeous! The buffet food was 3/5 stars. A server and hot breakfast menu would be nice here. Overall my stay and the old world luxury of this building was a 10/10
- 5/5
Great value hotel. Room clean and comfortable. Location perfect. Traveling alone, safety not an issue. On site restaurant is closed.

Gorgeous turn of the century property! We loved the huge king bed, the claw-foot tub, and the bay window! Bar was amazing! Lovely common area!
- 3/5
Room was much smaller than images
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel. Felt safe walking in the area nearby.
- 5/5
The rooms were clean, and the sheets fresh and crisp. There was an adapter on both sides of the bed to plug in different things like you laptop, or your CPAP, which I thought was nice touch. One downside was the shower, which does not work well for tall guests.
- 4.5/5
Quaint old style hotel with modest updates in a nice neighborhood.
- 4.5/5
I don't recall having this problem on prior stays but the WiFi was constantly weak, patchy, kept dropping out to the extent I had to use my phone hotspot. Have stayed in that room and others several times without noticing the issue, but needs improvement from current condition for sure
- 5/5
Clean and well maintained, beautifully decorated with lots of style. Nothing
- 4/5
20th cent. European atmosphere, also the large breakfast. However, this time the price was extremely high, at least $50.00 more than we had previously/night We did have a special room for people with disabilities, however. The neighborhood is good, two blocks from Van Ness Blvd, with lots of buses. buses or ride share to downtown, and a great little deli a block away, but you won't want to eat anything after that breakfast. Saff are lovely people. The hotel has its legends and ghosts, if you like that stuff.
- 5/5
This place is excellent. I didn’t know what to expect from when I was looking at pictures online, but the place is beautiful in person. It’s over 100 years old and still has the same opulent style from when it was built. Our room was huge, and despite the age of the building, everything was very well maintained and in excellent condition. The staff was all very friendly and polite. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I’m in town.

One heads up, while the hotel is reasonably priced, nearby parking is very expensive. I booked this hotel because my husband was having heart surgery at Kaiser. I parked in the Kaiser lot. With my validated parking ticket, I didn’t pay anything. From there, I enjoyed the easy walk of 1.1 miles to the hotel.
- 5/5
The property was beautiful and clean. Felt very boutique, area was safe. Breakfast was simple but did the trick. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was beautiful the whole building was beautiful and the breakfast was good
- 2/5
Uncomfortable bed.
- 5/5
We loved the room. Our room had a king bed and a pullout sofa. There were three of us. Huge bathroom fireplace. We just left the hotel. It was just very nice.
- 5/5
Loved the vintage elegance.
- 5/5
Amazing stay. Beautiful suite. The hotel is located in a safe part of town. The gym had "man sized" weights accoridng to my fiance. Only complaints were the breakfast and parking. Breakfast was extremely basic and not filling (breads/muffin, cereal, and yogurt). There was no hotel parking, instead we has to find a lot nearby and pay upwards or $30+. Street side parking was practically non existent and like everywhere else in San Francisco, metered throughout the day.
- 5/5
Spacious room, very clean. Checkin was easy. Found parking just up the street on a Saturday. Breakfast was decent. Waffles, fruit, bagels, juice, coffee. Really impressed overall with our stay. Hotel lobby is beautiful with obvious attention to the hotels history. We will be back.
- 5/5
For the price
- 5/5
Nice location. Staff were very nice. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Interesting decor. Bartender was interesting to talk to - great stories. Breakfast was good. Excellent location. Housekeeping is good. Really liked the hand painted art in the elevators. Also, bottled water and fresh cookies in the lobby for all. Nice.
- 4/5
Clean room, excellent service, good breakfast options. Internet occasionally unstable. Cozy atmosphere and great location.
- 5/5
Lovely clean old charm and sophisticated lobby and bar! Breakfast is a continental theme with eggs. And cereal. Beautiful high ceilings
- 5/5
An amazing experience. Really special hotel, with wonderful accommodations, and lots of character. The staff is professional and warm.
- 5/5
Historic property in Pacific Heights. Great location for us and included breakfast. Our suite was spacious and we enjoyed the tall ceilings, and high king size bed. We enjoy staying in historic properties and enjoy the journey into an earlier time. The only challenge is parking, and you have several options nearby.
- 4/5
The place is very clean, the beds are comfortable, th bathroom clean and well equipped. They had water bottles, coffee and tea available all the long. There’s a full bar onsite. Breakfast was nothing special. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
This is a beau hotel with history and all of the staff know it! As a native San Franciscan, To I highly recommend visitors go and at least experience the Butterfly Lounge for cocktails.
- 4/5
Quaint old hotel, comfortable beds. Breakfast was mediocre, not as advertised so we ate elsewhere. They had just cleaned the rugs so the hallways smelled but at least they were newly shampooed.
- 5/5
Lovely historic hotel in a fabulous area. Rooms are a decent size and clean, and the staff is very nice. This was my second time at Hotel Majestic and I’d definitely come back again.
- 4/5
The hotel is an older hotel which was perfect however it was my own fault for booking a plain room; no antique curtains or older beds. It was a very very boring room. Hotel was walking distance to Japantown but that’s all. It’s either bus or uber to all locations. The breakfast was very nice. The coffee in the lobby and cookies are a nice touch! When you first walk into the hotel you get a very bad smell but you get used to it. The rest of the hotel does not smell that way. The bartender is super friendly. All other staff are pleasant. Nice stay for the weekend. If you want to sleep don’t stay anywhere facing the street. It’s very noisy at night
- 5/5
Staff was accommodating when I had to change to an accessible room due to an injury right before travel. Breakfast was very good.
- 2/5
Bartender was on her phone watching YouTube videos of music, you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
Clean room, Great Location
- 5/5
Great location.
- 5/5
Centrally located with Great neighborhood! Really Enjoyed our Stay!
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay, beautiful historical building.
- 4/5
Stayed as one person and my room was perfect for my needs. It was also within walking distance of great places like Japantown and about 10-15 minute walk from cable car rides. Would stay again!
- 3/5
There were literally no business facilities nor did they have the option for feather free pillows. The breakfast was also limited if you have any allergies. I will never return to this property.
- 5/5
Wonderful spot to stay for exploring San Francisco
- 5/5
Loved this motel! I don’t normally leave reviews but this place was great. Breakfast was so good the bar was nice.

What an experience. Hotel itself is beautiful. What you would expect from an older hotel. Classy, elegant and well maintained. But the thing that separated this from other was the staff and their hospitality. I booked a room and mentioned that I was celebrating my wife's birthday and they went above and beyond for her. Communication with management was superb. My wife loved everything! Thank you Majestic for a beautiful weekend.
- 5/5
Very handy for visit to UCSF Zion
- 5/5
Staff were attentive, kind, and informed. Property was very nice. Room was beautiful and everything worked. Will definitely return.
- 5/5
Great central location for the things we wanted to explore while we were in SF.
- 5/5
Great location, very clean, close to everything
- 5/5
I usually stay at a nearby hotel when I am in the area but that has changed. I’ll only stay here from now on. What a great hotel !

Thank you again for a great stay!

Pros: Large room and bathroom, clean, and great value for the price. Beautiful historic building in a convenient central location. Continental breakfast was decent, though basic. Cons: The bed (mattress and linens) was very uncomfortable, and temperature control was a challenge. Heat is centrally controlled and the window AC unit didn’t work well, making the room too hot for good sleep. Breakfast could also use more variety—especially fruit and hot options like bacon or sausage. Overall: great space and location, but comfort—especially sleep quality—needs improvement.

i love coming here! one of the prettiest hotels in sf i
- 5/5
Just a note….Expedia states they have an airport shuttle and they do not.
- 3/5
Staff was great m, rooms felt like they were straight from Europe. However, tv did not work. They tried to fix it without any luck. Just a warning for older visitors. Claw foot bathtub is hard to get into and there are no grab bars
- 1/5
The hotel itself feels quite dated—thin walls that made noise from neighboring rooms very noticeable, worn furnishings, and an overall outdated vibe that didn’t match the price point. While the location might work for some, the lack of flexibility on the refund policy combined with the subpar condition made this a disappointing stay. I’d recommend double-checking bookings carefully and considering other options if customer service flexibility is important to you.
- 5/5
Room was comfortable and clean. Front desk staff was super friendly, told us about the history of the building and engaged in friendly conversations as we came and went during our stay. Breakfast was ok, your basic "breakfast included" buffet. Good location for our trip.
- 5/5
Superou todas as nossas expectativas, extremamente limpo, apesar de parecer antigo, a decoração é bonita e clássica, muito proximo a Japantown, onde tivemos nosso primeiro almoço. Definitivamente, vale a visita.
- 4/5
I really appreciated the Victorian-era decor. Loved the cookies and breakfast. The staff were very accommodating and attentive.
- 5/5
The room and the staff were excellent and the hotel is beautiful. Great attention to details.
- 4/5
Old hotel but well maintained. Plumbing a bit iffy. On-street rooms could be a bit noisy. Our room 305 was quite cramped. Breakfast of motel quality. Safe location.
- 3/5
No central heat or air conditioning. Heat is provided by a Dyson fan and air conditioning by a little R2D2 looking thing, Breakfast is truly awful- cheap bagels, dry cereal and hard boiled eggs
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff was very good
- 4/5
Clean rooms, staff are friendly- breakfast was very simple - not the variety of things as when they have a full hotel.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, room was very large and clean, free bottled water in the lobby, free coffee all day, continental breakfast is included (they did have eggs), and a great location. The price was good too, considering it was Superbowl Week in San Francisco.
- 1/5
AC and Heater were horrible. Wifi was so bad I couldn't do work calls in the room. Room smelled. And management did nothing to try and help me out.
- 4/5
Staff clean room all was well
- 3/5
The staff was excellent and it was nice to have free breakfast available in the mornings. But this is an older building and noise from the street was extremely loud even on the 4th floor. The shower was temperamental and so was the TV. We wished there was a hot tub. I would plan to stay in a newer building next time.
- 5/5
I loved the place, very good condition for being that old and the bar was the best place. 😂
- 5/5
Live this hotel
- 4/5
The staff here was great. Always available and attentive. My only complaint was my room floor was essentially a bowl. Will how curved everything was. Loved everything else though! The complementary breakfast was also a nice feature.
- 4/5
That being said, in some of the rooms I have stayed in the internet doesn't really work that well. They gladly changed my room when I told them. Otherwise I wish the restaurant was open but most of the time I go out to eat so I'm ok with that.
- 5/5
room was clean and tidy - luv to stay again soon.
- 5/5
It was so bright, comfortable and quiet
- 5/5
My husband and I wanted a short get away to San Francisco and the Hotel Majestic made it even more memorable! From the delightful sweet staff to the beautiful decor made our stay magical. We stayed in a suite and loved the antique furniture and art everywhere you looked! Also our bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in a hotel!
- 5/5
AMAZING stay everything was such a cool vibe bar was also great! We had added on extra acom
- 5/5
Amazing all around! Kenny the bartender is fantastic with guests and all staff helpful and polite. Building is old but well maintained and the oldness is its charm. I will be back.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
The rooms are so cute!! And the view from room 504 is AMAZING!!! clean rooms big rooms! Beautiful building and amazing location! My favorite hotel in the city so far!
- 4/5
It’s a very nice hotel and brings you back 19th century. The staff it’s very nice and professional. The didn’t have many GF choices for breakfast but I should have asked in advance.
- 5/5
I have been staying at this hotel for 25 plus years! This stay was especially fantastic! Maria at the front desk gives top notch professional service. She is so sweet and genuine, The Majestic is very lucky to have her on their team! Our room was so lovely. I would stay here over a newer hotel any day! Affordable & so much bang for your buck! The rooms are bright, clean, vintage & beautiful with high ceilings. Our room this time (#306) exceeded our expectations! It was literally the size of a one bedroom apartment! My boyfriend & I plan on staying here for a couple days at least once a month. Coffee station 24 hours & free bottled water which is unheard of now a days. Solid free Continental breakfast with framed John Lennon sketches. Fun, old timey bar with butterfly collections. So many curiosities and just an amazing experience all around! Great location by Japan Town & easy to find parking on street, safe neighborhood.
- 5/5
Loved this hotel! Full of character and history. The staff was friendly, great cocktails at the bar!
- 5/5
Everything was great! clean room, very nice staff, lovely lobby.
- 5/5
Very welcoming and friendly service! The room was very clean, and even while you can feel the history of the building, it was all fairly modern. It's in a wonderful and mostly quiet neighborhood. Definitely worth the value!
- 5/5
We forgot a bag upon checking out, but didn’t realize our error, however the front desk promptly reached out to notify us and kept our bag safe, while we returned to pick it up later that day. I would gladly return to the Majestic Hotel!
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly and room was large. The cleaning staff however was lacking; did not clean the room well and took our robes after day one and didn’t replace :(
- 5/5
Great hotel. Easy assess to core of downtown.
- 3/5
Very nice other than the steet noise, and the daily garbage truck that wakes you up at 5am, the site says airport shuttle but apparently that hasn't been a thing since covid. Nice property wish it wasn't the loudest hotel I have ever stayed in.
- 4/5
Good hot breakfast and nice wine and cheese plates at nights
- 3/5
The staff were wonderful, the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Would have been 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact that I was continually woken up because I could hear every noise on the street outside and in the rooms next to me and above me. I don’t consider myself I light sleeper. If the hotel had provided earplugs on the nightstand or something this would have helped a lot.
- 5/5
This hotel has cool antique style, the bartender was so friendly, and when there was a hiccup with my room the staff acted promptly and respectfully. Plus, excellent bedding, thoughtfully placed lighting, and a great hot shower. Will stay here again!
- 4/5
Nice hotel in a convenient area. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast is continental and not worth getting out of bed for.
- 5/5
It was a delightful stay all together
- 5/5
Great Staff! Both night and day front desk attendants were very helpful.
- 5/5
Such a great spot to stay. The staff is incredibly kind. This spot is really close to a lot of great sites. Room was clean and quiet. Highly recommend. Also love the hotel’s SF style.
- 5/5
Yes the room was incredible, staff was extremely accommodating and helpful (let me keep my car outside!!! Able to extend my room stay last minute too).
- 5/5
Super friendly and accommodating staff!
- 3/5
1. either Boiled egg or scrambled egg 2. tea / coffee / juice 3. orange slices 4. brown/white bread/ muffins 5. pancakes and syrup 6. milk and cereal nothing more nothing less.
- 5/5
Nice, clean rooms in a grand hotel. Good breakfast options.
- 5/5
I spent time in one of the suites. The rooms were very well appointed, and spacious. Both of the TVs in the suite did not work, so bring your own entertainment. The breakfast included scrambled eggs, yogurt, and fresh coffee, so that was a plus.
- 5/5
Beautiful quiet hotel with the most amazing immaculate rooms. Gorgeous holiday decor and lovely staff.
- 5/5
The breakfast didn't have much variety, but the room was clean which was very nice. The initial smell made it feel a bit old, but the place had an undeniable rustic charm. There is unlimited free water (ask staff about it) and the staff were incredibly accomodating and helpful for our stay. It's a great stay for the location, especially since it's only a 10 minute walk to Japantown.
- 5/5
Room was delightful as were those who worked in the hotel. Decent breakfast with Butterfly bar in the evening. History everywhere💜
- 5/5
We came for a night in the city and love this hotel. Nice sized room, beautifully decorated. Nice people went above expectations. Took a nice walk to the cathedral and Japan Town.
- 5/5
No noise in hallways and employees are very nice
- 4/5
very cute and quaint hotel rooms, they were small but worth their value! the breakfast was exactly what i would expect from a free breakfast, but i cannot complain. service was excellent, all of the hotel staff were very kind and accommodating, rooms were clean. location was very ideal, walking distance from japantown and central to many yummy eateries, and the filmore district! overall, worth its value and i would book here again :)
- 5/5
Our room was spotless and the staff was so incredible! There was an issue with our original room and the staff were so incredibly attentive. Great place to stay, we will return on our next trip to the city!
- 5/5
The room and hotel was amazing. Staff was the best I've ever experienced. Breakfast was top notch. The only complaint I would have is there is no parking at the location It was a 4 block walk to the parking garage. I wouldnt take alot of luggage there.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with history and character. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We really appreciated the free upgrade and enjoyed our time there and will definitely return.
- 5/5
Nice, clean and quiet room.
- 5/5
Both room and bathroom was large and a good breakfast included.
- 5/5
Great location. Clean, cozy, perfect.
- 4/5
Everything was great, staff was very courteous, and helpful. Room was great, and very relaxing with a wonderful bed. Breakfast choices needs an up grade. The hotel needs to connect with a closer parking garage for convenience of patrons staying at the hotel. Cleanliness of room stood out as well as the report with desk staff who were very helpful.
- 4/5
Parking was horrible, but the room was nice. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms.
- 3/5
I did not eat BF because I left the hotel before 6 am. Bed was too high and i felt pain on my back when out of the bed.
- 5/5
The room was clean, the breakfast was okay. They had whole wheat cinnamon raisin bagels, which I liked a lot. Fun holiday decorations in the common areas. Nice front desk staff. Heater didn’t seem to do much but we were ok. Would stay there again.
- 4/5
Room was clean and spacious. Although old, it was freshened up with updated amenities. staff was terrific both at the front desk and bar. Unfortunately the breakfast was horrible. Eggs were way overcooked and tasted 3 days old and bagels were stale. Overall it’s a nice place to stay as long as you’re not counting on a good breakfast.
- 5/5
Great staff, specious room located mette blocks away from downtown Japan Town. The access to tea, coffee and water was great. Breakfast was a bonus. I enjoyed the history and location along with the friendly staff.
- 5/5
Room was spotless. Hotel was too. Staff was great. Thanks (Once again) for a great stay. Especially appreciated the wine as a gift from the staff. There was a party in the dining room, and they responded like professionals. Everyone was happy. Especially me.
- 4/5
Clean room, nice staff, beautiful old hotel. Once upon a time they also had a restaurant, but no longer. I do wish they would bring it back!!
- 4/5
Nice staff!
- 5/5
Charm. Not age friendly with claw tube and stairs into building though
- 3/5
This location is great! Very safe to walk from and easy parking three blocks away. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was quiet though very cold. The bed was ridiculously high and the wall paper was discolored and peeling.
- 3/5
Breakfast was average. Clawfoot tub rocked. Bed and bedding were average. Loud music from event was audible from room.
- 5/5
Awesome place
- 4/5
The room was nice and clean, but it was very cold. It took about 2 hours for the room to become comfortable after I turned on the heater. Perhaps it would be a good idea to keep the rooms at a temperature of at least 65 degrees.
- 4/5
Stay
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room. Friendly staff. Great breakfast.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, all of the hotel & my room were very clean. Bed was very comfortable & the room had both a portable heater & air conditioning available. The room had a mini-fridge & the hotel has two microwaves available near the lobby if needed. There is a Keurig in the lobby with coffee & tea available 24/7. Breakfast was from 7-10 am with nice options including waffle makers, scrambled eggs (most days), boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, & juice. There is a bar open in the evenings with snacks available. The hotel has amazing with historic architecture & was decorated beautifully for the season. Many stores and restaurants within walking distance. Easily ordered Uber when I needed it & the Powell Street BART station was about a 25 minute walk to the hotel. It is in a nice location that I felt safe in & the hotel exceeded my expectations. Cons: None FYI: There looked like a handicap accessible entrance sign near the front of the hotel but I did not access it. Otherwise, there are several steps that I needed to lift my luggage up when going through the main entrance into the lobby & there is an elevator. Also, my bed was quite high off the ground, which was not a problem for me as they provide a little step stool in the room. However, that may be challenging for others with balance or other mobility issues so you may need to inquire about lower beds or a handicap accessible room. City is noisy, I used earplugs for sleeping.
- 3/5
I likely wouldnt need the space heater in the closet if the ac unit didnt have jts buttons removed to limit the flow of which air is blown. While its decoration and style to is, we will claim Victorian but why must it appear as though its not been revarmished since the Victorian era was the current era They offer up coffee and tea but its not clear if the waterbottles everywhere are gratis or not As i checked in a coule explained they had been given a late check out but were still bothered to leave at standard checkout time and wanted to make sure they werent in trobule. I asked also for a late check out and days later after getting the approval i get a call the night before, the day of and a knock on my door! Why give me the extra time if i couldnt actually sleep in with all the disturbances. So yes. For as pretty as it is or could be if varished....its average because without the niche of the design which fading its a small hotel with 1 elevator, agressive housekeeping and a paltry breakfast and there were closer places in proximity that dont exxagerate breakfast, they just dont offer it.
- 5/5
Great value. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, including a mini fridge. The hotel was quiet and easy to access everything. Employees were helpful. Breakfast was okay, but adequate. Very cute hotel, we enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back!!
- 5/5
absolutely LOVED this hotel and will be coming back when we visit sf !! the bartender was the coolest person ever and the entire staff makes you feel so welcomed! the room was beautiful and cozy. everything about this stay was perfect
- 5/5
Our room was spotless and well appointed with a super fancy claw foot tub, staff was unfailingly pleasant and helpful, the bar was relaxing and fun with very nicely prepared cocktails and a very welcoming bartender, breakfast was satisfying and convenient, and the hotel overall is just a magical glimpse into the San Francisco of yore. We loved our sunset view. We will absolutely return in the future!
- 5/5
Everything was fine
- 4/5
The property and staff are excellent, the location is very noisy. Future stays I'll opt for a higher floor. For me, city noise is relaxing, so I didn't mind. My stay-mates wished for more quiet, though.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay overall at the hotel. The hotel is centrally located in a nice neighborhood within easy walking distance to Japan town, Fillmore St, Hayes St or Pacific Heighs. It’s easy to catch the bus everywhere as well and it was also easy to park the rental car along the streets. Our room (Willie Brown Suite) was large with a four poster bed, a sitting area, two large closets and a great bathroom. The biggest issue we had however was temperature control in the room, always much warmer than the outside.
- 5/5
Friendly front desk and staff.
- 4/5
I really enjoyed my stay! It’s a charming building but a little on the older side but that gave it lots of character and charm. The staff were wonderful and the location was great - the only downside was the mattress was a little too firm for me.
- 5/5
It’s a beautiful Gothic old San Francisco landmark. I’ve lived in San Francisco for over 40 years and never stayed there but I’ve always been curious. I was recently accidentally locked out of my house and decided I should finally check it out. I was more than impressed. There are many chandeliers along the hallways chandelier in my bedroom sort of grand European type decoration around the bed. I felt so safe. I would definitely go back. It’s fun, playing tourist in the city that you love.
- 5/5
Great people, fabulous building!
- 5/5
The room was amazing and cozy. My only issue was parking but everything else was amazing.
- 4/5
Beautiful room
- 5/5
We were extremely pleased with our stay at hotel, Majestic. Although it is an old historic hotel, it has maintained its charm and beauty. From the entrance to the stairs, elevator and our room everything was very clean and tidy. The bathrooms have been renovated, but keeping traditional porcelain tub and shower. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, professional, warm, and kind. The bed was very comfortable. I can’t say too much except that we will be returning! Although the restaurant is advertised as serving food, it is permanently closed. They do serve continental breakfast and coffee is available 24 hours.
- 5/5
The room was quiet The entire property was very tidy. The breakfast was good. The staff were friendly. It was a great overall experience.
- 5/5
The room was luxurious. The crows feet shower was interesting, but not great for a 6'2" guy. The TV worked as expected. The breakfast was nice, but no par with the luxurious surroundings. I expected more hot options, and bacon or sausages, and more fresh fruit, would have put the breakfast over the top.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and fresh. Continental breakfast each morning was great. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was super friendly. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel! Staff was so wonderful and sweet.
- 5/5
Love this plade, and the staff were incredible! I will tell my friends!
- 5/5
Great as always!
- 4/5
AC did not work in 502. Breakfast was fine, predictable. Putting Christmas vines on the entrance rails is dangerously for those who need the rails for going up and down the stairs. I wish that no cars parked in the white curb so that Ubers and taxis could more safely pick up and let out passengers.
- 5/5
What a unique and beautiful building. Our stay was wonderful.
- 5/5
The room was bigger than expected and beautiful. Breakfast had a lot of options.
- 5/5
Love the Majestic. It’s my go to hotel when I need to stay in the Nob Hill area :)
- 5/5
Love the front desk receptions .,
- 5/5
The room was great, clean and elegant in the midst of a great San Francisco neighborhood. Excellent staff at front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast. 24-hr coffee (always fresh) in the front lobby right in front of the elevator came in handy after a long day wandering around San Francisco. An excellent value and I'd stay again without any hesitation.
- 5/5
Clean and well kept. Feels like home.
- 5/5
Very clean, sweet, old timey but not depressing room. No view (unless you count the fire escape), window unit AC which we didn't use but would blow directly into one of the two beds. Claw foot bathtub shower with a curtain that feels a bit like a shroud surrounding you. Breakfast was just ok, dry scrambled eggs, a glacial paced toaster, but it's more than continental. The lobby, bar, elevator and hallways are charming and the staff is terrific. If you can get a room at the right price, book it.
- 5/5
Beautiful historic hotel.
- 5/5
Fantastic all around!
- 5/5
The room was very clean and was actually a lot bigger than I thought
- 5/5
The place was super clean, absolutely charming. The staff was more than accommodating. I was able to check in early! I ended up having a health scare during my stay and the staff check in on me the following day to make sure I was OK. Honestly, I’m going to miss that place!
- 5/5
Really cute, spotless, and reasonably priced. Nice breakfast included too.
- 5/5
Historic atmosphere, welcoming staff, lovely breakfast room, comfortable room, and many nice touches such as bathrobes.
- 5/5
- 3/5
Do not disturb sign was on the door. Entered my room even though I was still inside. Read the sign!
- 5/5
Nice room nice staff! Easy place great area to stay in
- 5/5
Cool vibe. Def not modern but old and eclectic.
- 5/5
We are looking forward to staying here again very soon
- 5/5
It was charming. It was really nice and very accommodating
- 5/5
Room was a great size and comfortable. Complimentary water in the lobby was amazing.
- 5/5
Yes!
- 5/5
Good location, excellent bartender
- 5/5
Kind check in staff, beautiful place to stay.
- 5/5
Great location, good bar and bartender
- 5/5
The staff is always
- 5/5
For an historic landmark hotel it was super clean and well preserved. Check in was so friendly, personal and accommodating. Location was great. Bed was comfortable. Room was lovely. Bar experience was fun. Breakfast an added bonus and just right.
- 5/5
the hotel offers a simple breakfast, nothing to be to excited about. Eggs, boiled or cooked. Bread, cereal, one was very sweet, avoided that. Waffles, coffee, oranges, apples. The lobby has a Keurig machine for the guests to enjoy. There is a bar in the hotel. The room had a small refrigerator. Dining, a few places walkable distance. Not much shopping in the area. This is a very nice historic hotel
- 5/5
Front desk employees very friendly and helpful. Beautiful early 1900’s decor.
- 5/5
Love this hotel! My SF go-to spot!
- 5/5
Rooms are clean & the staff is wonderful! They make you feel very welcome.
- 5/5
Great rooms very cozy
- 5/5
Wonderful!

I love to stay in historic buildings. This is the oldest surviving hotel in SF. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Lots of windows and light. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of room. The breakfast had everything your could ask for. The bartender, Ken, was good at his job and entertaining. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
I will be back again!
- 4/5
Beautiful room. Very friendly staff. Appreciated the coffee bar. Lots to do within walking distance and very easy to catch buses. The street is loud but we were able to drown out a lot of the sound with the air conditioner.
- 5/5
We did not eat breakfast.
- 5/5
Everything we had hoped for!
- 5/5
Convenient location and clean, friendly service
- 2/5
It was not quiet at all. Stuffy room. Subpar breakfast. Too much plastic waste.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, historic building, good neighborhood
- 5/5
It was a wonderful three-night stay. The room was ready early, which allowed for a nice relax before the evening activities. Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful supplying an additional blanket for use. Breakfast was easy, lots of hot options and the coffee is quite good. Would definitely book another stay in the future.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, great location
- 4/5
Wonderful stay, nice breakfast buffet and quiet!!!
- 3/5
Rooms have no AC. But they provide portable units. For the price of 400-600 a night I expected better breakfast, a bit cleaner, cold water available. Don’t recommend.

- 5/5
Clean, quiet, breakfast included…
- 2/5
loud but otherwise nice
- 5/5
Everyone at the Majestic is very service oriented. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are charming. Comfortable and tastefully appointed.
- 5/5
Everything is great but parking
- 4/5
What I did not love is the bar tender. He was unprofessional. Drunk on duty. Prioritizing getting further drunk with customers. He kept forgetting orders and trying to press more alcohol on me and my partner. Because of his behavior I didn't want to spend time at the bar. He also made several transphobic remarks which made me feel uncomfortable. I loved the rest of my experience, but -1 star for him.
- 5/5
Better breakfast maybe
- 5/5
Great property in Japantown, clean rooms, friendly staff, very clean.
- 5/5
Great location. Easy access to small shops. Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
The entire staff was delightful!
- 5/5
I love how close the hotel is to Japan Town, this is our second time staying there and will be back for a third stay in the near future!
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Great free breakfast. Clean rooms. On a safe area.
- 5/5
I just want to say Maria was so kind and gracious, she made my check in so welcoming and graceful. She was concerned by my early check out but, I had emergency flight to catch and she assured me everything was already taken care of for me. I hope to stay here again very soon!
- 5/5
Charming old building with nice fixtures and amenities. Took a while to check in but worth the wait. I love the old school charm.
- 3/5
The one complaint is that the portable A/Cs do not work well. The days were humid and even the fan in the bedroom with the A/C on didn’t work enough to cool the room. We were quite warm when sleeping and was uncomfortable.
- 4/5
Overall really good except the room was too warm. The thermostat was set very low but it didn't seem to cool the room. I couldn't open the windows either.
- 5/5
AMAZING property, so quaint and charming. We had the best time and felt so safe and well taken care of. The room was darling--if you love a historic hotel, this is it. We will absolutely stay again!
- 5/5
Easy access to a lot of things, nice and clean and good staff!
- 4/5
The staff was excellent. They go out of their way to be helpful.
- 4/5
I stayed on the first floor on the side of Gough Street, one of SF mostly driven streets & it was noisy in the the room most of the night. The bed with a beautiful canopy, though comfortable was way higher than i am comfortable with & i am 6 ft tall
- 5/5
Fantastic
- 5/5
The room was stuffy but I don’t think there’s much that can be done about that.
- 5/5
Very clean, nice breakfast and lots bed the decor!! Air conditioning was great to have. Woul totally recommend!
- 4/5
Large selection at breakfast
- 4/5
What you'd likely expect from a good historic hotel, lots of character at the occasional expense of convenience. The shower was a clawfoot tub with a curtain around it dangling on the inside to keep the water out. Already as a 6'2" male, I couldn't comfortably stand in the too narrow width of the tub, trying not to trip on the curtains made the proposition dicier still. Phantom knockings at night that may have been from the refrigerator or a friendlier ghost. I loved the writing desk by the window on the corner of the building. Charming little bar on the bottom floor. All employees were engaging, accommodating and friendly. 15 minute walk to the Fillmore (through Japantown at that!) was my principal reason for staying. I would stay again.
- 4/5
The age of the Hotel and the very courteous staff.
- 4/5
Great beds
- 5/5
My fiancée and I really enjoyed our stay! We had booked this hotel for our anniversary and we are so glad we did. Hotel Majestic had so much character and charm and for an older hotel - it was clearly well-maintained and accessible. We would definitely stay here again next time we’re in San Francisco!
- 5/5
Sweet, older hotel, very clean.
- 5/5
Good value hotel in a great neighborhood
- 5/5
Lovely older hotel. Plumbing in bathrooms needs updating, but was still functional.
- 2/5
When I checked in to The Majestic at 4pm I was allocated a room (top floor) with someone already in it, who had not checked out. Not a great experience for me or the poor girl in the room who hears a guy trying to get in. Nobody seemed to know how that happened. I was offered another (better) room. A ground floor room with a view of the street. I unpacked, put some stuff in the fridge and started to get ready to go out for my 5pm appointment. Turns out the room had all the sounds of the street too. You could hear peoples conversations clearly. I rang reception and asked for a change. The staff were polite and offered me the previous top floor room except I’d have to wait 15 mins for it to be “ready”. I waited. When I asked again I was told to go on up. When I went up the cleaner was still cleaning and said 10 more minutes so I waited. Eventually I get in. I unpack and turn on the shower. The water trickles down. There are hairs (from previous person) in the bath. I’m too tired to complain immediately so I have my shower, get ready and go down to reception. I tell them all this. I asked about the non-existent WiFi, and ask for my drinks that I left in previous temp room to be returned. Nothing happened. When I checked out this morning no-one asked me how my stay was because if hey did, I wouldn’t have written this.
- 5/5
Love the claw foot tub and canopy bed!
- 3/5
Friendly staff. Room has an old vibe, but shower is not working. No central air conditioning. The window air conditioner is very loud.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff. Reasonable price
- 2/5
One was the cold water in the shower was shut off and the TV did not work! I told them about it and they could not fix the problem. I told them to get me another room and the employee said they are sold out with no more rooms! I will not stay there again. I am requesting a refund.
- 5/5
Room 207 the Herb Cain suite was great. It has a huge living room! The bed is very comfortable but is quite high off the floor. The actually have a little step stool!
- 5/5
Nice, nostalgic hotel. Would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Check in process was extremely quick and the receptionist was very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of our questions and provide recommendations. The room was so cute, I would definitely stay here again. My only gripe the whole visit was that our shower head didn’t work, this was for room 402. Everything he else was perfect. The air conditioner worked very well. The breakfast had a nice selection and the area to eat was cute and clean. We had ordered ice cream at like 1 in the morning and the door dasher forgot our spoons, but the receptionist was super sweet and gave us some. I do recommend this hotel and looking forward to staying here again.
- 4/5
We really appreciated the historic sense of the building. The butterfly bar was charming. There is no on site restaurant operating every day. The very tall beds are fun if you are young enough to get in and out of them safely. The parking situation is pretty inconvenient, and there is no valet service. I wouldn’t bother going down for the complementary breakfast again. Security is not what I would call tight, at six in the morning I was able to walk straight into the empty lobby through the unlocked front door and onto the elevator. There are lots of fun restaurants at Japan town and lots of great bars on Polk Street
- 5/5
The Hotel Majestic is just lovely, definitely the old San Francisco vibe. The staff was excellent, so friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Fried eggs Sausage Bacon Red pirk beans Smokek salmon and cream chese It will elevatethe class
- 5/5
Unique! 100
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
Was a great stay in (according to Atlas Obscura) the “most haunted room” in the hotel. We didn’t have a single haunting (haha), but did enjoy the quiet neighborhood, slept well, and had a good breakfast. The staff was also very friendly.
- 4/5
Breakfast was good .
- 1/5
The room was filthy. Layers of dust/dirt on surfaces. The bathtub backed up with a test run of the water. The mattress cover was too dingy on the sides to brave even sitting in the bed. The staff at checkin was nice, but when I came back down to say I couldn’t stay there, they refused to refund or even confirm that they’d checked me out early when requested in the app.
- 5/5
Our room was so cute. King suite! Love the location as it’s close to my favorite bars. The breakfast in the morning was clutch! Love the historic feel of the hotel. Will be back!
- 5/5
Front desk staff was very nice. Loved the fully stocked coffee/hot chocolate bar. Great breakfast selection included. Room was very clean and quiet. Absolutely loved the hotel's 1940's look. Will definately stay here again.
- 4/5
Hotel is a little dated, but still very worth the money. Very close to Japantown and some fun shopping and restaurants!
- 1/5
So noisy outside, so cold during night. Breakfast is not good.
- 4/5
A bit crooked
- 5/5
Such a fun stay at an old SF vibe, but with full cleanliness. Often these older buildings aren’t as fresh, but this one was great. The customer service was equally as impressive.
- 5/5
It was definitely authentic and vintage , exactly what I was looking for.
- 5/5
We love this hotel!
- 5/5
Great location friendly staff. Breakfast was ok. Unique old hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, amazing staff and such a cute area, definitely check out the Italian deli/sandwich shop down the street.
- 5/5
Second time here. Nice vintage feeling hotel with clean and cozy feel and easy drive or Lyft to the downtown area.
- 5/5
Everyone was very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
The room was bigger than most apartments I’ve been in. The hotel felt like something out of the 1930 movie very well kept up definitely will stay here again
- 5/5
Very happy with my stay. Highly recommended!
- 5/5
Beautiful and comfortable room. Helpful and communicative staff.
- 4/5
Good for the price. Great service and location.
- 5/5
Cool looking rooms and staff is excellent.
- 5/5
We loved our stay and would definitely stay at the HM again. Each staff member was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. Loved our room, the surrounding neighborhood, and the overall experience. Lovely breakfast, quiet and comfortable room, and the bathroom was so pretty. So happy we stayed here— thank you to Monos and the Hotel Majestic team!
- 5/5
Our only complaint is that the pull-out bed was uncomfortable, but once we moved the mattress to the floor, it was better.
- 5/5
Had an excellent time staying at the Majestic Hotel. Very clean and the works were so friendly and helpful. Felt safe.
- 4/5
Room was small and tub was high (difficult to step into) but otherwise very nice. All the furnishing were period, so it was like stepping back in time. very clean and staff was excellent.
- 4/5
We were visiting the city during the weekend of OSL and didn't realize it! This was one of the more affordable options and we generally enjoyed our stay. Check in and out was easy. The hotel and room are old, and quite outdated looking, but everything worked well and was very clean. Some of the furniture was worn, there was an AC window unit instead of central AC, no screens on the windows, and no bathroom vent/fan. The water also didn't get quite as hot as I would've liked, but it was still comfortable. The bed was comfy although on the firmer side. The area is pretty quiet and you only occasionally hear some city noise.
- 5/5
A wonderful find. The hotel is beautiful. Our room was quiet, ac worked perfectly, the bed was comfy, and we had a nice view outside our window. We enjoyed the vibe of the hotel. The staff was welcoming/friendly and always available to help. The free breakfast is an added plus.
- 5/5
The room was nicely decorated with a nice, spacious couch and table, the the Junior Queen Suite. Many restaurants, bars, and museums were in easy walking distance. The 4th floor is allegedly haunted, which can make for interesting considerations. i want to thank the attentive Manager Amit , for being available and hospitable during my stay. Manoj also helped with my booking and getting on the 4th floor. I travel and I rely on reading reviews and I definitely want to recommend the Majestic !
- 5/5
cool hotel, glad we choose it over a chain
- 4/5
At first I was disappointed that the property was more dated and tired than the photos suggested. However, my room leaned toward charming and the bathroom was fantastic (clean, bright, stylish). I would stay again.
- 5/5
Hotel was solid. Old charm but clean and pleasant staff. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Maria is amazing!!!
- 5/5
Nice location, vintage lodging. Friendly staff. Very nice for the price!
- 5/5
This property was in its name, majestic! The staff was so helpful and the area was beautiful and nice and clean. Great coffee in the morning and a beautiful breakfast.
- 5/5
This classic gem of a hotel presents like a family run establishment, all on staff made our visit feel special and welcome. Our bedroom suite was gorgeous with bright open windows throughout, and we slept so well in the comfortable bed. The bar is cozy and fun, And the complimentary breakfast is a can’t miss!
- 5/5
Wow, what a great stay. It’s been a while since I’ve so impressed. The staff, every single one we encountered, was pleasant and helpful and warm. The property was super clean and our king suite was spacious and comfortable The breakfast was delicious. We will most definitely be going back.
- 5/5
Great staff. Great atmosphere and decor. Good breakfast. Great location. Just all around great place to spend the Dead 60
- 3/5
Beautiful in its day. Charming Breakfast inconsistent
- 5/5
We loved Hotel Majestic!! The hotel is so historic and beautiful, it was wonderful looking at all the furniture and decorative details. We also appreciated the staff and amenities. I’d love to stay here again.
- 3/5
Breakfast was a bonus although it only had hard boiled eggs, waffle thing, bagels and cereal was like cardboard. Better than nothing I guess. Place seemed clean and the interaction with the employees was very positive.
- 5/5
Historic hotel near California cable car and Muni line. Quiet and good breakfast
- 5/5
Friendly staff and very clean. Comfortable accommodations. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
This is a very nice hotel. Close to everywhere
- 4/5
Has one of the slowest elevators that I've ever run across, it works just fine, but is very slow. Parking is an issue, but it's in San Francisco, so, "Duh".
- 5/5
Loved everything but the drainage was slow, tho I understand the hotel is original and may have challenged plumbing.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet property with friendly staff and great breakfast. Would stay again if I’m in in the area again.
- 5/5
Booked a queen suite and it was everything my wife likes in a room. Classic with updated amenities. Staff was fantastic and it was nice to actually have a hotel bar that was open!
- 5/5
everything was wonderful.
- 5/5
Everyone was so kind and helpful! My toddler and I loved staying here and look forward to coming back.
- 5/5
Room is large, no parking
- 4/5
Always reliable. Great location near top restaurants, no problems with street parking. Love the old SF victorian charm missing from the more modern hotels. Did not notice any issues with cleanliness or condition of the room. Staff was regularly available and attentive to our requests. The breakfast selection was a little uninspired but overall a very satisfactory stay.
- 3/5
Staff was great very nice inside dining room and bar area
- 5/5
Just a couple of suggestions for the queen rooms: It would be really helpful to have bedside lamps with built-in outlets or USB ports. You could still keep the vintage look by adding a retro-style lampshade. I ended up charging my phone and watch in the bathroom, which wasn’t very convenient. Also, a small table or shelf in the bathroom would make a big difference. The little ledge above the sink doesn’t offer enough space for two people’s toiletries or makeup bags. Looking forward to our next stay—it’s always a pleasure!
- 5/5
Beautiful original old hotel with charm and character. Very friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Would stay again!
- 5/5
They were able to provide the history with modernity. The old with a high level of care and maintenance. As a result, we got a great bedroom (huge, very comfortable and totally renewed on the floor), an amazing bath structure (shower was great, two sinks, a lot of space to put things), a huge and super comfortable bed, and a fireplace to give the room a nice touch. About the staff, we can only say good things: super kind, polite, helpful. They have an elevator that takes you to the bedrooms and also a good breakfast with usually four types of fruits, scrambled and boiled eggs, two types of bread, three types of bagels, and some kind of muffins. They also have orange juice, coffee, milk, tea, and a waffle machine. Oh! The coffee, water, and tea are free all day. The location is great, we could walk through a lot of places (Union Square, Painted Ladies, Alamo Square). They also have good options around for dinner, lunch, or a snack. Really a good customer experience. I super recommend that you stay here.
- 5/5
Love Hotel Majestic….the staff is excellent! Love the Butterfly Lounge❤️
- 5/5
Convenient: We used the Clipper bus with the help of front desk gentleman to meet a tour group at Lands End Lookout @Sutro Heights-only 1 bus from Geary & 48th. Hotel has a great location and easy to get to several places. Walked to Cathedral of St Mary the Assumption (5 min walk) for mass also. Walkable to Japantown, too. Clean: Bathroom was spacious, updated with squeaky clean tile floors. Will plan on staying here again when in SF. Thank you to the staff for making our short stay easy and restful.
- 3/5
Nice lobby with a bar. Our room on the third floor was clean but smelt old. Set our room temp/ A/C down to 63 but never stayed low. Had to kick our blankets off. Room walls are thin. Can hear conversations/noise outside. Also can hear street noise. No parking nearby ( saturday).
- 2/5
Loud street noise, unappealing and paltry weekend breakfast buffet, unstable WiFi.
- 5/5
Really lovely hotel and the staff is wonderful. Greatly enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
Loved the charm and spaciousness of the room
- 5/5
Great hotel, clean, good reception people, historic well kept building, great house cleaning....
- 5/5
The host was very helpful and friendly. Had a technical issue with rhe blinds in mybroom and it was resolved right away.
