Reviews
Guests generally enjoy their stay at Hotel Griffon, appreciating its comfortable rooms, great location, and friendly staff. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the lack of parking, small room sizes, and limited breakfast options.

There was a power outage, blown transformer, during our planned stay. So we had to move to another hotel. Another issue is the floor was not level, even though we were on the fourth floor. It was uncomfortable with a sloping floor.
- 2/5
Room was ok at best - no screens on the sliding door and no lock just a piece of pvc to keep door closed - electric went out first night we had to leave - at this point we have been promised our money back

Very well maintained great area with lots of restaurants and attractions with in walking distance and the staff were kind and knowledgeable would book here again

I’ve been staying at this quaint hotel for decades. Its location and charm are immediate draws. But the service and staff just make the experience even better. The restaurant has a magnificent view of the bay and the food is excellent.
- 5/5
Very quaint and quiet hotel near the Ferry Building and walking distance to a lot of places. Good restaurant on-site, helpful staff and easy location.

Hotel Griffon is a great place to stay! Very clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds and great restaurant on the main level. Walkable to so many places and restaurants. Beautiful view of the Oakland Bay bridge. Can't wait to come and stay again.

Great location, fairly priced, comfortable and cozy room. Danishes and coffee in the am. I’d stay there again!

Great location near oracle park and Embarcadero. Very quiet in rooms! Small rooms but we got the suite which is very worth it.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming.

I had a quick stay there for a weekend trip. Staff was great, the bar awesome and location perfect.
- 5/5
Great hotel, excellent location, friendly staff
- 4/5
Great stay, spacious room, comfortable bed and amazing location. Staff was kind and they allowed me to check-in earlier because the room was ready, which I really appreciated. Having the restaurant at the hotel is also a plus, though it closes really early in the evening (8:30pm) The little breakfast corner instead of a proper breakfast is fine, but food is really limited and there are no healthy options at all. Price is also pretty high compared to other solid options. Not saying it's not worth it, but it is a bit higher than I would actually find appropriate.
- 5/5
Great location, amazing staff, clean rooms - and affordable.
- 4/5
The staff were helpful. Having a restaurant down stairs was convenient. This hotel reminded some of the hotels in Europe. Classic style.
- 4/5
All good but room was “old”
- 5/5
A fabulous stay with equally wonderful staff!
- 5/5
I always enjoy my stays here. Wonderful location. It is clean, great staff, lovely rooms, and the access to the bar/restaurant next door is wonderful (they have great staff and food too!)

Location Bridge views from room Price AC Staff Cleanliness Cons: Parking, but it’s SF so understandable Would stay here again, highly recommended 👌😁

I never write reviews on here. But we upgraded to the executive suite . View 10/10, service 10/10. Perry’s downstairs for some pub food and sports great. Check out Ozuma sushi next door and boulevard at the corner as well. Ferry building access was great.
- 4/5
The hotel was a great location. Very clean. Nice staff. It’s was Great having the restaurant attached for lunch, dinner and drinks. The breakfast had coffee and just donuts. We ventured out for more choices. I did go to the YMCA one day for a quick swim. A nice week overall.
- 4/5
We stayed for 2 nights in a room that overlooked the Bay Bridge. We loved our proximity to the Ferry Building and the ball park, and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go (ACT near Union Square, our restaurant in the Financial district, in addition to the ball park and Ferry Building). The room was comfortable, albeit small. Loved that they had a water bottle filler on our floor. Would have only added a glass pitcher in each room, as we had to continually walk down to refill our glasses. The staff was great, and we enjoyed our stay.

Nice place
- 4/5
The room was nice, updated, clean and the bed was really comfortable We were a little bummed their Bar closed at 930p. We made it back after SF Giants game & they were closing. The only item that I wasn’t pleased with at all was being charged $25 for a.m. lobby coffee & doughnuts whether you have them or not. . I would have preferred spending $25 towards good breakfast at a restaurant.
- 4/5
Dust or lint all over hard services etc.
- 5/5
We had a beautiful room with a Bay Bridge view and nice furniture and bedding. Pay attention to the parking restrictions 🙀❗Lots of great restaurants and bars 🍻 nearby. Excellent Embarcadero access. Nice place for a San Francisco 💓 stay.
- 1/5
My room was not available due to a burst water main. I was rerouted to sister hotel king George and the stay was uncomfortable at best. I don’t feel I was accommodated due to my room having no air conditioning and not having a bay view as my original room would have had. I will not be booking with this hotel or any affiliates again.
- 5/5
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are good with a desk. The shower and bathroom were separate from the sink and mirror in my room, but it didn't matter. The breakfast was small but good and easy to grab on your way out. I would definitely recommend staying here.
- 5/5
The free coffee and pastries were a nice touch along with it being attached to Perry’s and oxumo Japanese restaurant which has a good happy hour.
- 5/5
Very charming older hotel but with updated comforts. Staff was outstanding. Super friendly and helpful. Shout out to Gladys at the front desk. Parking easy access across the street. Walkable to the Ferry Building. Great views of the bay and bay bridge. Perry’s was a good option for meals too! Highly recommend!

Beware of parking. It cost us $76 for one night parking. There is no choice but to use the garage. No refrigerator or microwave in the room.
- 5/5
Super cute & amazing views the only thing we didn’t like was that they don’t have valet parking.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff. Having access to the YMCA next door is a bonus.

If the manager Ann would have returned my call as I had asked this wouldn’t have happened. But she chose not to. This is horrible customer service. As much as the hotel may be a beautiful place to stay. I wouldn’t waste your time god forbid you have some sort of issue that you would need a manager for.
- 5/5
Great location. Surprisingly quiet for an SF hotel. Staff super friendly and helpful. Room had a nice shower and a reading nook. Just beware the super mushy spring coil mattress and enormous, firm pillows. I slept ok, but your mileage may vary. Would stay here again if I was in the city for anything going on near the south end of the Embarcadero.
- 5/5
Great location! Close to the Ferry Building and Giants stadium. Across the street from the water. Beautiful View rooms
- 5/5
Great room and location.
- 5/5
Our stay was wonderful. We could enjoy the view of the Bay bridge from our window. Just be aware that they do not have parking and it’s best to make arrange arrangements in advance.
- 5/5
Great little hotel conveniently connected to Perry’s. Reasonably priced with an excellent staff. Great coffee in the lobby in the morning.

I booked a group of 6 rooms for business and the staff charged all first nights to the booking credit card instead of everyone’s individual cards, creating an expense report problem. One of the desk staff didn’t understand the problem, a second staff member passed the buck to the hotel manager claiming he couldn’t help. A third person (Sammy) understood the issue and tried to help. Hotel management eventually helped resolve the issue, but there are staff training problems that must be addressed so this doesn’t happen to other guests.

I have stayed at the Hotel Griffon many times over many years, and it continues to consistently stay the same. It's a little gem of a hotel in San Francisco and it is always a pleasure to stay there. Room rates are competitive, it's very conveniently located, the staff is superb, and I've never had less than an excellent experience at this hotel. Can't say enough good things about it!

This is a smaller boutique hotel with all the amenities you need and an outstanding location! The staff was great in the hotel and at Perry's across the hall. We had a great time walking through all the shops at the ferry terminal and strolled through the financial district and Union Square. Our view of the Bay Bridge was amazing and we'll definitely be back.

The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is for the comfy bed. The lack of parking and the accessibility was bad. But I guess it’s San Francisco. Access to lobby from parking was not ideal for me. Parking was very poor. If I would have known this I wouldn’t have stayed there. The bathroom shower head splashed water everywhere even the toilet and floor. The staff checking in were clear as to parking and lobby access to get to my room. I don’t think I will stay here again

The room was small but perfect for solo travel and clean. Shower head had great pressure. Also had a larger than normal fridge and a filtered water refill station in the lobby. The luggage storage was convenient and allowed me to venture out into the city to kill time before my evening flight. There were no windows my room, so rent a room with a view of you don’t like to feel claustrophobic. That would have been the 5th star. Otherwise great stay.

Worse was rudeness - about 10.30 on Feb 12 I asked front desk man about travel to airport and was told to look up on Internet myself All I can say is that at most hotels certain questions come up every day and front desk should offer some assistance - perhaps with caveats for some uncertainties. A travel tip.- the $25 amenity fee gets you stale croissants if you come at say 9am because they don’t replenish after first setting out. Lastly I note for anyone who likes to swim laps - there is a fantastic 25 meter pool. This alone would make me go back - but knowing that there are some problems that the hotel could fix without even spending much money - care in hiring staff, some training, freshen up the breakfast pastries etc.

Location! Location! One block from the water, easy to walk to the ferry building and up and down the waterfront. I stay here quite a bit. The rooms are always immaculate. The beds are comfortable. The water pressure in the shower is good. But most of all the staff is always very pleasant to deal with.

Our room was very clean and comfortable! Staff were super nice and helpful too, and the location was fabulous. I wish we'd had more time to make full use of amenities like the gym. The only things I'd like to see to make this a perfect spot are a microwave in the room (but yay for the fridge!) and a wider range of complimentary breakfast options. Thanks Hotel Griffon!

Had to call for the front desk person in order to check in. He lacked in customer service skills. There was no fee information nor was I provided or offered a receipt. I presented a different card for check-in and stated twice that I wanted to use a card that was not on file. He swiped my card, but nothing showed up on the card reader. At home, I checked the charges and the room was put on the card I used for booking the room. There is also a very high $200/night deposit hold on top of the room charge. When I inquired why it's so high, I was told so we don't trash the room. There is no parking and off site overnight parking was not easily found. The hotel is renovated, but quite old. The floors in the room slope badly. Rooms are very small, but have what you need. I would not likely stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel and its location is awesome. You are basically at the Ferry Building and within walking distance to lots of things to do. The restaurant Perrys is connected and has elevator/stair access which is super nice with great food and a lively atmosphere. The rooms are quiet and very clean and nice. They do have a water filling station and ice machines but no in room fridge. I would absolutely stay here again!!!!!

The hotel has secret charges that you need to be very careful. 25 usd for coffee that doesn’t always exist and some pastries that if you give them to your pet it will not.touch them. Instead of helping the visitors coming late in the hotel with some parking slots so they can go and get some rest they urge them to go to a private parking which is the most expensive around the area by far (100 usd vs 35-40usd). In conclusion not a good choice.

Great value boutique hotel right on the Embarcadero. Just a short walk to the Ferry Building, Oracle Park, the Exploratorium, the California Street cable car, and BART/MUNI Metro trains. Perrys restaurant and bar onsite. Nice, modern rooms with comfy beds, and remarkably quiet considering the location in the middle of everything!

Hotel Griffon is conveniently located across from the pier and surrounded by some good restaurants. Just be prepared to pay at least $38 a night for parking because there is no parking on site. The room was clean but small, we didn’t have any view. A couple of negatives during our stay was, the TV didn’t work and the elevator wasn’t working the night we got there.

I called ahead and asked for an early check in. I actually received an email offering it. When I arrived I was told a previous guest had a late check out and the room wasn't ready. I called ahead and asked for an early check in. I actually received an email offering it. When I arrived I was told a previous guest had a late check out and the room wasn't ready. Staff seemed really indifferent, unapologetic and basically said "oh well." The room was so so, sofa bed uncomfortable. No parking on the premises. I won't be staying here again.

Had to request to have the room cleaned until leaving. Was not informed that a request to clean the room was needed shouldn’t that be a requirement everyday. That information should have been told at check in.

The hotel corridors smelled terrible, like dampness, and the rooms were not pleasant. Furthermore, there was too much noise during the night.

The room is okay but the staff is mediocre. No one was at the front desk when we arrived and had to wait awhile. The elevator was not working so had to climb five stories with the luggage’s.

Clean but a bit tired. Very thin walls, you can hear everything in the hallway and other rooms (like a baby crying at 1am). Direct access to the rooms through the restaurant mae it not so safe (anyone can wander in) and evening staff who checked me in was not friendly:(. And no window unless you upgrade (window opens to central air vent which is shared with restaurant.

Lovely people, yummy restaurant good vibe, beautiful! Great location! Loved it!

I couldn’t give more than 3 stars because there were a few negatives. Biggest negative was there’s no valet parking and no parking on site at all. Also no room service. Other Negatives were a very small bathroom and inflexible policy for late check out. I was denied an additional hour as they only allow one person per floor a courtesy. We’d consider staying again if our schedule aligns.
- 2/5
I went with this as it was the perfect location for my meetings, and rated "excellent"...I'm not sure where that rating came from: it's an old property, decadent with some thin layers of make up applied, and border line bed bug scary... don't, just don't.
- 5/5
Clean room, great location
- 3/5
Old drafty rooms. Room was directly above the restaurant on the warf side, which is a nice view, but someone came to riffle through the restaurants recycle bins, and was throwing glass bottles from their bins into the back of a truck for hours in the middle of the night.
- 5/5
All the above and the location with a restaurant right next door.
- 5/5
This is a really nice place. It's a 1920's era hotel in excellent condition so the rooms aren't large but they're definitely adequate. All sorts of dining, shops, the ocean, and a trolley line are in walking distance. The trolley stops at all sorts of attractions. The hotel staff is very pleasant, efficient, and accommodating.
- 4/5
Great location. Bay view room lovely. Clean. Convenient. Friendly staff. Bed too soft for my preference.
- 2/5
The stink is noticeable in the lobby and bad in the room. In the elevator you feel asphyxiated. I didn't mind the tiny room because they were pretty clever arranging everything. Only one outlet in the bedroom; it's an older building. The bathroom fans are loud - especially in specific acoustic spots at the sink and shower. The staff try, but I think they know what kind of place they work. My room keys stopped working at 10am, even the new key reception gave me didn't work so maybe it's a suddenly wonky electronic lock? Next time I'll try elsewhere.

Second time I have stayed at the Griffon. Love this place. And Perry’s downstairs is great too.
- 1.5/5
The hotel's proximity to the Embarcadero and the view from the room were outstanding. The room was clean & felt very private. Coffee/tea/pastries in the morning were appreciated. The day manager was polite and friendly, but could not adequately address my concerns about the 2nd bed in the Suite....which is why my review is both positive and mostly negative. I explicitly booked a more expensive King Suite to have a 2nd, separate bed. Unfortunately, the sofa bed in the suite was completely useless. It did not lie flat (the head area was approx 45 degrees higher than the rest of the mattress); and, worse, the springs noticeably protruded from the mattress, rubbing and scratching throughout the night. When I could not sleep through the discomfort, I got up in the middle of the night to contact the front desk to request a room change. They were, unfortunately, sold out and could not switch us. The next day, when I discussed the issue with the Day Manager, she stated that she would have to check with the GM before being able to offer any compensation--since they could not provide another room. I requested that the hotel provide a discount, i.e. to be charged the rate equal to a King Room (without a sofa bed) since we could not use the 2nd bed (the hotel does not have any rooms with two double mattresses). Apparently, the GM refused. I only received an apologetic phone message from the Day Mgr who said they could provide a small gift card ($50) to the adjacent restaurant. This was a fairly disingenuous gesture since it was offered to us on the evening of our departure--and we could not really utilize at the end of our long day. What is so irksome is that this was my second visit. I am a repeat customer and would have likely returned in the future, if the management had made a sincere effort to make me feel welcome and understood. If the hotel provided a reasonable refund or credit for another stay, I would consider the Griffon an elegant, friendly place to stay. Unfortunately, their lack of sincere effort to help their guests be comfortable, makes the Griffon a cheap and unfriendly place. There are 100's of hotels nearby. Next time, I will stay elsewhere.

Hotel Griffon is a boutique gem with classic San Francisco charm. Anne, who manages the front desk, was wonderful—kind, attentive, and supportive of every guest need. The hotel feels cozy yet elegant, with a personal touch that makes you feel truly welcome. Highly recommend!

- 5/5
"old school" hotel with nice staff, the classic "Perry's" bar / restaurant downstairs, and a great location by the ferry building. Parking a car is difficult but we knew to avoid that issue!
- 5/5
Hotel was right in the center to visit all the tourist spots. Theres a cute farmer's market almost everyday to go a few blocks down walking distance to start the day.
- 4/5
The staff is incredibly friendly, especially the helpful blonde woman at the front desk. The cleaning staff is always willing to go the extra mile to assist with any requests. I also love the amenities, like the in-room safe and the thick, luxurious towels. The hair and body wash they provide is a nice touch. The complimentary access to the YMCA is a fantastic perk of the resort fee. No refrigerator. I also wish they would provide better sugar like a honey or raw sugar. Also two times I've stayed her my room was in front of the ice machine, it wakes me up.

We have stayed at the Griffon many times over the past 30 years, even though the rooms are tiny, but this was our last. Room was not as clean as in the past, with some accumulated dust/dirt in corners, etc. Some kind of insect bit me in bed the first night; when I grabbed it was full of blood, apparently mine. I am sure the housekeeping staff does its best, but it is an old property that has deteriorated over the years. Helpfulness of staff varied significantly depending upon who was on duty, one person was unable/unwilling to help, even to the point of providing incorrect information, the next was very helpful. No parking other than suggested offsite and expensive, and area is not safe for street parking. Checking out we had a large restaurant charge on our bill but the only thing we charged was a cup of coffee. When confronted, clerk said it was a service charge for staying at the hotel. Just not the good feeling we have had here in the past. We'll be looking for our next favorite place to stay in SF before we visit again.

The guy checking us in, Sammy, was outstanding. He took great care of us. Very professional young man.
- 4/5
The hotel is very nice and quaint. It is clean and well maintained. However, the mattress was like a marshmallow and it was impossible to control the temperature in the room. The lack of delivery to the room from the hotel's own restaurant downstairs was not possible and was very disappointing. Also, there was no microwave in the room, the Executive Suite, which was also both surprising and disappointing.
- 5/5
I really liked my stay at Hotel Griffon. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location is perfect—right downtown, so you can walk to lots of places and public transit is close by. Everything you need is nearby, which made getting around easy. Definitely a solid choice if you want to be in the center of it all.
- 5/5
Thank you. I enjoyed my stay
- 5/5
Always comfortable, lovely room with small deck. Convenient location and love the convenience and quality of Perry’s.
- 4/5
We had a standard queen…the bed was super comfy, everything was quiet and clean, staff was very friendly and helpful…. but the room was incredibly small…so small it was hard to find enough space to put our luggage and stuff. To turn on the bathroom light you had to enter…squeeze between the shower and toilet, close the bathroom door to get to the light switch. And there were no bedside outlets for phone chargers. No desk/table/chair. All limitations of the neat old building, but not set up for any easy stay. But I would definitely stay here again, just anticipate a longer phone charger, smaller luggage.

Great location
- 3/5
Front desk clerk didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. Didn’t tell us much, like parking or the fact we could use the YMCA.m next door, or the check out time. We left early anyhow. Breakfast offering was incredibly weak - pastry and bad coffee creamers. Pillows left me with a horrible creak in my neck, very little sleep. We stayed at Harbor Court last time and will go back to it.

Location, location, location. Walked and scootered everywhere I went. The staff was incredibly friendly. Great dining options close by.
- 4/5
Location is fantastic for public transportation, rooms are basic with slight clinical feel. A bit claustrophobic with a window that faces a brick wall. And light leaking a bit through the curtains the whole night. Breakfast croissant were stake. Location was fantastic though.

Had a great stay at Hotel Griffon! Bay facing room that was surprisingly quiet despite being above the Embarcadero. Staff was great and overall vibe was cozy, private, quiet, and welcoming. Area was great, too!
- 2/5
A mouse ran around our room when we were in bed and the desk clerk came up immediately and scared the mouse out of our room. We were moved to a new room and comped one of our 2 nights but it eft us uneasy
- 5/5
Hotel Griffon was a quaint hotel with lots of charm. It gives the vibes of a much older San Francisco. The staff were lovely and couldn’t help but to enjoy our stay. The location of the hotel was perfect for checking out the local scene as it was close to all the San Francisco touristy spots. A couple of notes of improvement however; there was no control over the temperature in our rooms and the accessibility to our rooms were ridiculously frustrating. The rooms utilized a key card slide system instead of a tap. The slide mechanism for our room was rather out dated and I need of repair. It would take us 10 minutes to get the key card slide right before we entered. The rooms had no individual control over ambient temperature so it would get rather hot in our room. Overall the Hotel Griffon is a hotel definitely worth staying at, but definitely not a go to.
- 5/5
Perfect location for baseball game. Decent lobby that opened to Perry’s restaurant. Nice bar there that closed at 9. A lot of events nearby that closed streets and made catching Uber very difficult during our stay. But location was great for meeting friends who came over on ferry.
- 4/5
Great location near the Ferry Building. Rooms and property were well kept. Note there is no valet.
- 3/5
We stay here fairly frequently and the rooms are always clean.
- 5/5
Everything was quick and easy from booking, checking in, and checking out.
- 2/5
Was told upon check in that fire alarm check planned for next morning w/no recognition of inconvenience to us (we checked out early). Extremely noisy all night due to elevator & ice machine. Mouse in restaurant. Broken tile in bathroom. Uncomfortable bedding. Old air conditioning system barely worked.

- 5/5
This is a lovely and boutique hotel in a prime location. The beds are very comfortable [medium firmness] though my wife and I prefer very firm, we slept well on them. It is an old building so expect some tight quarters in regards to en suite baths and the elevator-all part of the charm. The location is very close to multiple public transit hubs which affordably get you to most tourist attractions and into some of the quaint and uniquely San Francisco neighborhoods. We live close to SF, so this will be a place we will return to again and again for an over-night in the city.
- 5/5
Staff super friendly. Bed was comfortable.
- 2/5
Location only unhelpful staff, curt. Rooms extremely small, beds not comfortable. poor continental breakfast
- 3/5
The location was good for cute little boutique hotel, but I'm still waiting for the extra $200 they charged me as a deposit that was supposed to be returned to my card w/in 2 days of checking out...It's been 5 days since checking out.
- 3/5
Renovated but old building. Rooms are very small. It’s a quick remodel that looks good in pictures but you won’t want to spend any time in the room. Functional at best.
- 5/5
Great atmosphere and clean rooms!
- 5/5
Staff and property are great. They found me another room fairly quickly when someone else checked in under my reservation(that was weird but OK).
- 4/5
Nice little boutique hotel close to the Ferry Building.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect, we are regular guests at Hotel Griffin and we will definitely be coming back .
- 3/5
Nice small hotel. Watch out for add-on fees when you check in.
- 5/5
Great location! All the staff were friendly. Clean room and nice bath products. Definitely a European vibe. Perry’s restaurant is a great amenity. Plenty of parking garages in area; I used SpotHero. The coffee and pastries in the morning were nice. The luggage storage was also a big plus before check in; at checkout the receptionist offered luggage storage again! I’d stay here again. Highly recommend Hotel Griffon for single travelers or couples. Thanks!
- 5/5
I found the bed to be pretty comfortable, though the frame creaked a fair bit getting on/off and if I tossed and turned in bed. The room I stayed in (not sure of the exact type I had but it was a single bed) was perfect for a solo traveler. Would love to stay again on longer staycations
- 2/5
Positives, Perry’s staff excellent. Nice to have a decent restaurant on site.
- 4/5
Loved the executive suite. Room 505 was great with a wonderful view of the bay and wharf. Location was good. The beds and bedding were super comfortable. Would have liked more vending options.
- 4/5

Great location with access to everything in San Francisco. The bar was a nice addition to the hotel. Our room was clean and fully equipped. The only thing missing was a refrigerator. Otherwise everything was excellent and we would stay here again.

Great location!

Had a terrible experience. I left a DND sign on my door and midafternoon when I was getting ready for an event and just having got out of the shower a maint man knocked on my door and asked me to unlock my door. He insisted that I do. Cuz he needed to fix the lock and I said no as I didn’t know who he was but he insisted and argued with me for several mins and would not go away ( even tho I had a DND sign out) he insisted and I asked him to come back 15 mins but he would not. I was shocked at this behavior and lack of respect. I told the staff at the desk and they did nothing. They said sorry and offered me 20 gift card. Which I can’t use as Iam not returning. No response from manager! outrageous!

- 5/5
This hotel is in a great location. The building is beautiful. Everything was very clean and lovely. We appreciated the coffee and croissants for breakfast. Nice bar and restaurant on-site. The way they make the competitive pricing work is by offering pretty small but very efficient rooms. We're an old married couple so we don't mind having to brush our teeth next to the bed, but this might not be for those who are looking for a more spacious and romantic setting. I'm sure there are larger rooms for those who want. We didn't have one, but there are certain rooms that would have amazing views of the bay. Their parking fee is $75, so we worked hard to make sure our rental car was empty and we found free overnight parking on the street. But this is how it goes with such a prime location. All told, we'd stay here again.
- 5/5
The adjacent bar and restaurant also had great service and delicious food. We enjoyed not only the courteous and positive experience of the staff in the bar, but also enjoyed the pleasant conversation with their bartender, Sean. Another reason that we would stay there again.
- 5/5
Good location Breakfast cakes and coffee in the morning
- 5/5
If you are visiting SF without a car, this is a great hotel. You can walk within 5 min. to the following: muni subway, main bus terminal to gg bridge and Marin/Sonoma county, to BART, ferry terminal, cable cars to Chinatown, classic rail cars to fisherman’s warf, hop on hop off busses, cruise terminal. If you are vacationing ask for a bay view room because there are only a few. The other rooms are small and dark. I liked the exposed brick in this older building. Perry’s restaurant is downstairs. Free coffee and pastry in lovely in AM. Located in the middle of it all but quiet at night, no nightlife right in front. Of course you have easy access to UBER and driverless cars ( why not). Not best for large families as rooms are small. I will be back
- 5/5

Beautiful, tasteful property. On Embarcadero across from Ferry Building. Easy access to transportation. Excellent, helpful staff. Restaurant/bar in lobby and surrounded by many other dining options. Will definitely stay there again.

Walking distance to Amtrak bus stop. Quiet. Small rooms--but fine for one or two adults. Perry's restaurant is good with fair prices! Near South Beach and Oracle Park!
- 5/5
Nice old property in a fun part of town.
- 4/5
Nicely updated bathroom, comfortable bed and nice linens, towels. Very old building and the floor of room is very sloped!! Maybe not all that way? I checked in late evening and didn’t want to ask to switch! The floor above creaked when the hotel guest walked around their room!
- 5/5
The front desk staff, Juan and zashi (?) were excellent and treated us so well. The bay bridge view room was perfect. Pillows were too think/big, but other than that, a great stay!
- 4/5
The location was great. I loved the room which was bayview with so much to see. There were several annoyances: bathrobe and towels with holes in, curtains that wouldn't open properly, bad carpet stains, a toilet that wouldn't stop flushing without the handle being jiggled about every third flush. Staff in general very warm and friendly.
- 2/5
I booked this hotel expecting a charming boutique experience, as advertised, but it fell far short of that description. In hindsight, I wish I had stayed at the big-box convention hotel for my conference. The room itself was a major disappointment. While housekeeping was fine, several issues made for an unpleasant stay. The HVAC blower had a persistent squeaking noise that continued into my third night, despite requesting a fix. The room lacked carpeting, giving it more of a budget motel feel rather than a boutique ambiance. The shower handle worked well, but water flooded into the bathroom. Furniture was visibly worn, switch plates and the thermostat were pulling away from the wall, and there was a frustrating lack of accessible outlets. The bed was extremely soft, making it uncomfortable for a good night’s sleep. The one positive was that the room was quiet—no street noise or disturbances from neighboring rooms. However, that alone isn’t enough to bring me back. Given the misleading description and subpar experience, I won’t be staying at this property again.
