We had a beautiful room. Very convenient location. Hotel restaurant was fine for continental type breakfast & coffee. Very small dinner menu, not for "fine" dining.

It was great! Clean. Very polite staff. Felt safe in their parking garage and felt secure with my vehicle. Workout room was busy. Maybe a bigger gym would be nice. Restaurant looked appealing though didn’t get to try it. Pool also looked awesome too but didn’t prepare with swim trunks. Price is excellent for the experience. Would come again

Staff was great and very helpful, parking the car to go check in was a pain, stressful and not a lot of room and line was going out to the street. Hotel was nice inside, didn’t realize there was no microwave in the room which was a bummer and we had to call to figure out if there were blackout curtains because we couldn’t see them or the chain to draw them

Room was nice. With a great view. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. We left our luggage there after we checked out so we could go visit Alcatraz. The staff who checked our bags was very helpful. Also helped that he was from Arkansas and we used to live in Arkansas as well. Excellent hotel highly recommend

Rooms were clean and staff was really nice but when picking this hotel I set my filters to hotels that include breakfast and have hot tub. This hotel has neither. They charge $35 for breakfast and there’s only an outdoor pool and it’s windy and too cold to use.

You would be paying the price for the location. Room is not worth for the price. It's pretty much worn out.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and offered a nice view, and the overall facilities were satisfactory. My only disappointment was the delay in returning my security deposit. It took more than a month for the refund to be processed, which was much longer than expected and caused some inconvenience. Apart from that, my stay was pleasant, and I appreciated the comfort of the room and the hotel's location.

It was a great stay, conveniently located and super clean.

I travel frequently for both business and leisure and often choose Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties because they are usually reliable. This stay, however, fell well below my expectations. The most concerning issue was cleanliness and safety. On one occasion, a piece of glass fell from the sink area when I moved my hairdryer. It landed near my foot and, fortunately, did not cause an injury, but it was sharp enough that someone could have easily been hurt, especially in a bathroom where guests are often barefoot. The following day, I found another piece of glass hidden inside a folded towel. I didn’t notice it until I cut my finger while using the towel. Finding glass in a supposedly clean towel was extremely alarming. There were also several housekeeping issues throughout my stay. For three consecutive days, the bathroom floor mat was placed on a bench next to our clean belongings and seating area, which seemed unhygienic and unnecessary. Additionally, one afternoon I returned from work hoping to rest before a scheduled conference call, only to find that my room had not yet been serviced. Housekeeping informed me I would need to leave the room for cleaning, but I was already on a work call. While the staff member ultimately accommodated the situation, it was still frustrating. To make matters worse, when I first checked into the room late at night after a heavily delayed

Extremely dirty room. Nightstand had some unknown substance on it. Bathroom was dirty with black short hair on toilet and in tub. Hair also stuck to bathroom door, door handle had some unknown matter in it. Dust around left side fridge door. I have stayed at this property 4 or 5 times in tbe past couple of years. I will not be returning, ever. It is beyond disgusting to see evidence of the previous guest in my room. Had to stay two nights.

They skipped our room and didn't clean it. We reserved two rooms but they were on different floors, which kind of defeats the purpose of going together to the same hotel. The check in staff was ok, not as good as usual. I like this property because of the location but I'm rethinking whether it's still my go to when in SF.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn and would absolutely stay there again. It was way more spacious than most San Francisco hotel rooms, it was immaculately clean and comfortable, it had a quality breakfast with lots of variety and a fun bar, and it was situated close to some fun neighborhoods for eating and shopping.

Hotel was ok. “Double” beds were extremely small but comfortable. Breakfast buffet was way overpriced and extremely limited in options. Had paid extra $35 for a breakfast that was worth less than $5. Tried to remove breakfast option when I saw how bad it was and was told I couldn’t. Disappointing.

This place was excellent. It absolutely satisfied my expectations. The room was clean and the view of the city was gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent. We had a variety of choices not to mention how friendly their staff was. Recommend highly.

Found our new "go to" lodging when visiting the city periodically for events, concerts, etc. Central, easy access parking on premise, clean, great city view and reasonably priced for SF! They also have a well run breakfast buffet, plentiful and with good variety. Parking was an additional charge, higher than we anticipated, and the outdoor pool, although open, was freezing in mid-May. It is SF after all. Regardless, we will go back in a heartbeat!

Great location, especially if you’re driving up or down the California coast which is worth exploring). The California Street cable car is right next to the hotel with hardly any line. The route takes you over Nob Hill. It then crosses Chinatown where you can get off for easy walking access to Union Square with Macys, etc.

Very clean room, older carpet but everything was very clean. Staff was very professional. There is no free breakfast but there is free coffee in your room with k cups. Felt very safe in that location

The staff at this hotel couldn't be better. Everyone we interacted with was courteous and beyond helpful. Our rooms and the common areas were spotless. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with plenty of choices and restocked as needed. And the location is ideal. I highly recommend.

This is actually the second time we’ve stayed within a month for more than three nights each. The room this time happened to be handicap accessible room, which I don’t see how it was accessible for them. The bathroom door only opens halfway therefore if someone was in a wheelchair which we weren’t, they would have to go around the bathroom door be facing the hall door and then try to turn around to go back into the bathroom. Also, there was no support under the freestanding toilet, which I’ve not ever seen before in a handicap room. There was no closet per se only a roll up freestanding piece of furniture. There was no extra space in the bathroom for storage of any sort as in a shelf.. also the fact that if you’re staying at the hotel, you don’t get a break whatsoever on parking or eating from their restaurant which to me should be an added plus to staying there whether it be a 20% discount or 50% discount. The first time we stayed in April the day seem to be much better and it was in a regular room with two queen beds, not a handicap accessible room.. the staff and HOTEL personnel were extremely warm and greeting and very helpful

Very convenient location. My family of 4 with teenagers walked everywhere. Chinatown, Fisherman’s Warf, close by grocery stores and restaurants. The room was super clean and the view was very nice, can’t beat the city views during the day and city nighttime lights. I would highly recommend!

The view from our room on the 23rd floor was amazing! Our bed faced large windows and we had a great city view day and night. We also ate several times at the restaurant and enjoyed good meals.

But I will have to say, the premises and room were pristine and in top notch condition. Everything seemed brand new and the beds were dream to sleep upon...though I was pretty drunk by the time I got to it, so my judgement might be off. Location is perfect for a real local taste of San Francisco. Polk street and its cross streets are packed with funky bars. Van Ness has my favorite SF meaty eatery of all time: Tommy's Joynt. Though if you're a pure tourist in the city, its not the most central location of sight seeing.

We liked the location, cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. Our only suggestion for improvement would be for the hotel management to look into the quality of the linens and carpets. The towels appeared quite worn and overused, and both the towels and carpets felt below the standard expected for the hotel.

Overall, the location away from Union Square is good. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

This has been our go to each time for San Fran visits. Central to all the tourist spots, everything is pretty much 10-15 minutes away. Service is amazing from check in to checkout. We will continue to stay here and have even recommended to close friends planning their own trips to the area.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn for 4 nights. The location is great - we walked to most places we wanted to see, including catching an evening movie at a theater a few blocks away. The hotel is clean, has an adequate gym, and staff are helpful. Our room had a great view of the city, and had a refrigerator and a safe.

The check-in staff was so amazing. I didn't get the person's name but she was so kind and helpful. The room though was a let down. Everywhere in the hotel it felt like corners were being cut to save pennies. The bath towel was about a third smaller than a normal bath towel and as nearly see through. Minor maintenance issues everywhere.

Nice place to stay

I parked in their secure parking garage from $55 dollars. I parked up 3 levels from the ground floor. Within hours my car rental window was smashed out and my work equipment was stolen. All the receptionist could do is waive the parking charge. Which still showed up on my bill.

Check in was easy. Room was comfortable and clean. Disliked that the pool was directly outside our window on the 6th floor. Thankfully the time of year we visited there were limited pool visitors, but we weren’t comfortable leaving our curtains open while people were at the pool. Location was about 15-20 mins, by uber, to piers and other tourist attractions. I would definitely stay here again for the price and location.

Room was clean , staff was super nice and helpful . The only thing I didn’t like was the fitting bed sheet was ripped it had holes on the corners didn’t see it until the morning when all the blankets were off . Just throw them away !

When we stayed last November we were relieved to see the city seemed to be cleaned up a bit. Unfortunately that was short lived. Many homeless and drugged out people lying around right outside of the hotel. Streets smelled of urine and feces on the sidewalk. We had hoped San Francisco was getting a handle on this problem but it looks like it is right back to where it was a few years ago. Probably won’t be headed there again any time soon.

My second time here and it was just as great as last time! Pay up for corner room. Totally worth it.

The staff was very friendly and helpful no matter what we needed. Beautiful hotel in a great location! Very quiet as well. We highly recommend this hotel!

We needed to leave for a scheduled work meeting in the morning on our last full day and the gate to let us out of the parking garage was broken. I had to get security to help, and the new card they gave me still didn't work, so they had to call a technician to come override the machine to let us out. This wasted time made us late for our meeting. I appreciate the amenity of free parking, but not being able to leave when we needed to was a huge negative during a work trip.

We travel to SF at least once a year. This time we wanted a view of the city and the bay. We got it. The hotel is more than just a Holiday Inn. Our experience was perfect. Parking very easy and safe. Rooms clean. French toast tasted great. Location very walkable and centralized. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We stayed a week and will be back next year

We just completed our stay at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a beautiful view of the San Francisco skyline. The hotel is right at the start of the cable car route on California Avenue which made it a fun way to get around the city.

I think that a valet service would have been great. With parking at 49/night plus tax and an odd flow of traffic in and out of the front of the hotel it would has been very helpful

Best place we have ever stayed in SF with our young kids! We will definitely be back. Parking was very secure and easy with an elevator directly to your room floor. The view was incredible! Everything was very clean including the baby crib. There is a mini store with fruit, drinks, and snacks in the lobby for the kids. The restaurant food was delicious and the kids meal was FREE with an adult entree!! It even came with a drink and an ice cream bar for them! 12/10 experience all around, it really made the trip wonderful. TY :)

Cleaning staff were fantastic. Hotel was in a great location for access to sites. Only negative was our room was next to the elevator which could be quite noisy, however didn’t bother us enough to request a move.

I love this location, it’s at the terminus for the California st. Cable car which goes all the way to the Embarcadero and it’s on Van Ness which goes straight to the Marina District in one direction and a transit hub in the other. We bought a three day transit pass and went all over the city saw the sites, ate all the food and had a great time.

The only highlight was the view from our upgraded room. We weren't impressed with the service since we didn't receive any. We asked for utensils and coffee, but the receptionist told us to go to the restaurant to pick up utensils and get coffee sachets from reception. When we asked, the restaurant staff said they couldn't provide utensils because we didn't buy food there.

This hotel is centrally located, close to just about anything you wanna do in the city. Not to mention that Waymo comes by every five minutes. Hotel was clean, the staff were super friendly, parking was easy but a little on the expensive side. We really felt that we got a lot of bang for the buck. The hotel was affordable and provided everything we were looking for. I would recommend this hotel to our friends and family, and we are planning on coming back and staying again in September.

I’m not sure ir I stayed in room 2322 or 2320, but the room was very clean and neat at my arrival. As someone that worked in hospitality for many years I know exactly when I room is clean. Very friendly and helpful staff starting by my housekeeper who gave me some advice to navigate around the city since it was my first time visiting San Francisco, to the front desk staff that recommended me places to visit and eat, to the horsemen that helped me to find my car. I had a very pleasant experience during my two days stay. The only thing I had a little trouble with was getting from the parking lot to the elevators area. The stairs and the two very close and narrow doors. It is a whole project trying to hold the doors, while carrying your luggage and go downstairs. Overall I loved staying at the hotel and for sure I will stay there my next visit.

Location is excellent! The room is spacious and clean. Water pressure in the shower is very good, however the sink faucet the water is very slow it was a struggle to wash your hands!

The room was a basic room - clean, but nothing special. The reason for fewer stars is the cost of the room does not match what should be provided. You know the saying “you get what you pay for” - well, in this case you pay but don’t get a whole lot. Over $300 a night and another almost $50 a night for parking. It is what it is…,

The hotel is very central to restaurants, the Big Bus tours, and cable cars. Also a mile or two from the Marketplace, chinatown, bay cruises and lots more.

The hotel was in a great location and close to everything we needed. Although the room cleanliness could be improved, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The gym has two stair bikes, two elliptical machines and three treadmills. One of the elliptical and one of the treadmills were out of service while I was there. They have screens with movies like you are riding on trails, which is a nice distraction. It has some dumbbells and a weight machine. It had everything I needed for a nice workout.

Overall stay was wonderful, clean rooms and close to shops and restaurants. Nice that there was a parking garage attached to the hotel that you could pay to park in. No microwaves in the room but communal ones in the lower lobby.

Rooms were clean and fairly updated and smelled clean. Some of the places I've stayed in San Francisco have smelled dank...but not the Holiday Inn! Great food options on the backside of the hotel also. Ate at a GREAT Himalayan restaurant with outstanding food. My family and I felt safe and welcomed. Was good Food down the Street the stay was good but +50 a day for parking +35 for just Breakfast and a $150-250 room I pay 220 a night thats one months of child support on my income the total cost for 2 days for me and my mom to just visit my kids cost $600 and so you know if your 1 min after your check out they charge you another $30 its sad that the once great holiday inn is now a penny pincher

Everything we did was within walking distance from the Hotel, the Pier, the Restaurants, the Shopping and the Shows. It was great to walk to everywhere in great weather conditions, not having to drive deal with traffic or parking.

The location is great, it’s close to lots of attractions with upscale neighborhoods. Hotel services are excellent with friendly and charming staffs. Room is spacious and clean, well kept. I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Golden Gateway a lot.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay. The front desk staff member that checked us in was very friendly and personable. The room and bathroom were clean. The view from our room was spectacular. The location was away from all the craziness of Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf, and yet we had a cable car stop next door. Definitely staying here on my next trio to this beautiful city!

It was clean with a very friendly staff. I asked to be moved to another room because my first room was right next to the elevator and it was noisy. Upon my request they moved me to another room with no problem . I was impressed with the hot water immediately in the shower and the high water pressure was incredible. The room was clean and the bed and bedding including the pillows were supper comfotable. I felt safe staying there. There are plenty of places to eat around the area. I would stay again. I just wished the breakfast was included or at least not $35.00 for the buffet breakfast.

Excellent location mex to cable cars (how they were not running due to technical issue). Clean room with awesome cleaning staff. We never had an issue with any dirty areas. Only issue was air con was too cold in the room and we could not adjust it

They placed me right next to the elavator, noise kept me awake all night, asked to be changed they said it had to be until the following day, I got the following day 2/15 to the lobby and manager in charge said they could only change me until after 12pm, but I had an activity booked from 830am to 5pm, so if I wanted to move I had to come back or take all my things and leave them in the office, I had food in the fridge, had valuables and left me no choice but to pack again and leave all my stuff at the front office, they have no customer focus, the manager lack so much empathy and had 0 idea how to treat customers, they only took care of their side without considering how bad the experience for the customer was. They made my 3 day trip an awfall experience. Any hotel should make sure that the noise from the room closest or farest from the elevator is the same (there should be none), if they cannot guarantee that, they should offer those rooms with a disclaimer.

The room is next to one of the elevator shafts so the noise of the elevators is quite loud. Although they turn off the exterior elevators at 11:00, the center elevator is just as loud. There isn’t much that can be done about that, I suppose. Anyway, I didn’t get much sleep the first night, it wasn’t possible to request another room because of my schedule that weekend (Jan 30 and 31). I wore earplugs the second night. The room/bathroom was very clean. The air from the heater had a very dusty smell and the carpet had quite a few stains, spot cleaning should probably have been done. The issue that bothered me the most was the elevator noise, I had made the reservation a month earlier and am disappointed with the room assignment, the staff seem to be aware of the noise issue, when I received the key cards, the staff person handed them to me knowing I would be in a poor location. Check in staff was nice, lobby was decent. Regarding the room, decently cleaned but the counters were insanely covered with dust. The room was a connecting one to another which may be good for large parties. However the sounds of doors opening and closing was insanely loud. I often thought someone was opening their side or my hotel room door was being opened because of how loud it was, and as a solo traveler it was definitely hard to get comfortable to hearing that.

This place always makes me feel at home. Great hospitality and services. Standard check out is 12pm which I love. However what makes this hotel spectacular is that they accommodated us to check in 2 hours earlier! Never a bad stay at this location. Rooms are huge, bed and bedding is beyond comfortable. Such a great location too! Walking distance to Polk street, and a moderate walk away from Japantown or even Lombard. 10/10

Quick and courteous customer service even though lobby was full of customers. Adequate staff, very professional. Beautiful hotel with adequate space to park and wait while checking in. Very adequate parking lot for guests. Very clean and well stocked café for grab and go food and the breakfast they provide. Very clean room with Dove body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, which are good products. Would definitely stay here again when visiting the city of San Francisco. This day was for overnight prior to a surgical procedure at the hospital, which is a short three block walk away from the hotel. But if I was coming for a pleasure visit, I would feel very comfortable in this hotel.

was called at 11 pm while sleeping to urgent’y come down «  whats the issue i have a fever « they made me come down becusse they needed a 100 usd deposit i had cash / could have given it to bellboy i could have had covid

more specifically someone at the front desk called eric. i extended my stay because i was vwr sick . i was told to do it through expedia . price for one night went up 3X. ok thats business i deal. 11 30 pm front desk calls me . insists i need to come down. i told them i was sleeping and had a fever. this Eric person could not care less. can i come down in the morning ? NO i stumble down to find out they needed a 100 USd deposit thats it how quickly we forgot covid . asking a sick potentially contagious person to come down ar 11 30 pm when all was paid / like a criminal / its ridiculous and criminally irresponsible. you will hear from my lawyers .

I have stayed in a lot of places in San Francisco. This Holiday Inn is one of the best in this price range. It is moderately priced, has lovely city view rooms that are very clean, has affordable parking with in and out, has a restaurant on site if you need it but is also centrally located for quick access to all parts of the city. We will be back.

Nice rooms. Convenient location. Has an area for cars to load so it’s much safer if you’re getting a taxi or ride share. Check in/check out is fast. My biggest issue is that they require a $100/night deposit so if your stay is long, be prepared to spend a lot for the deposit. It does get returned assuming there’s no issues with damages, but it is an outrageous amount to ask for a deposit. Also, a ridiculous policy in general if you’re not expecting it.

The negative: No complimentary coffee, very limited gym equipment, staff lacked knowledge about public transportation. Area around hotel was convenient but not a pretty area. Never felt threatened but not comfortable walking at night due to homelessness/drunks/obvious drug use.

We were given a room with an amazing view on the 26th floor! Check in was easy and we were able to check in early. We wanted a drink at the bar, it was open yet, but the guy served us anyway. Parking garage was safe and easy to access as street parking was hard to find. The hotel and our room was clean and quiet. We had a great stay and would definitely stay here again!

I had a corner room, room 700. It was level with a rooftop and the view was incredible. With wall to wall windows on two sides of the room, and mechanized blinds if you wanted to close them. One of the coolest rooms I’ve ever stayed in!

The hotel is centrally located, within a mile from every major site. The 1st room I got smelled of cigarettes and I asked to be moved to another room. This new room was good size and clean but the closet door was falling apart. All in all, it's a good option in SF. could use some renovation...

the toilet was leaking on floor, no room safe, the hot tub was out of order

My stay was okay, but could have been better. The shower did not drain I let staff know and they were able to fix it. Then my toilet was not flushing. Again I let staff know and they addressed the issue. I did appreciate the cleaning crew. My room was cleaned daily. My last issue was with rescheduling. My flight was canceled and was not able to check-in until the next day. I contacted the hotel and they stated I needed to contact Expedia. I contacted Expedia and they reported I had to go through the hotel. It was a struggle getting the problem resolved. A lot of back and fourth from both parties and inconsistent communication. Honestly the experience makes me reluctant of utilizing Expedia again in the future.

The hotel here was very lovely and 26th floor had such a beautiful city view. Clean room, kind staff, and great amenities here. The only thing they do not have is a microwave in the room, but there is a restaurant on site and a mini cafe. Along with that, great restaurants around walking distance wise. :)

The lady at front desk was very nice. Great customer service! The room was nice and spacious. Loved that we were close to the elevator so it was very convenient to come and go. Loved that the parking is secured by a closed gate and is convenient because you can come and go as well while you stay there. I was surprised that there was no complimentary breakfast, but that’s ok. We enjoyed our stay here and we will definitely be back!

The visit started confusing with unclear directions of the pull through check in area for vehicles. However, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room we stayed in was clean. We heard no outside noise whether it be from the hallway or the next door hotel room and the hotel is centrally located. You can park at the hotel for cheaper than a nearby garage and walk to multiple areas, or if you decide to drive most places are a five-ten minute drive. We would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was not good all packaged and processed foods like you get for free at Hampton Inn. Green bananas. Really awful coffee. Very disapoointed after ads said they are known for a good breakfast. I will never eat there again.

The hotel and the room were very clean, nicely decorated with extra seating places in the lobby. The room was above expectations for a 3 star hotel!! However, a little disappointed that there wasn't a smart tv in the room or one that would accepting casting from a phone or device. Overall, it was a really nice stay and will stay here again during a long layover.

Did not have an airport shuttle that we found. In a slightly sketch part of town but the staff police it well. Very clean, staff was very friendly and professional. Really liked that they escorted a drunk out of the building and then waited with him to make sure he didn't harass any of the customers. Great breakfast for a hotel spread. Really the only down is that it's in the flight path of SFO so there is jet noise all night long. Bring something for white noise or ear plugs.
