Did not understand the concept of a service dog. The lady working there was very rude about everything especially the service dog concept. The stairs going up were totally wet and our service dog slipped and rolled down about 5 steps and management did not show any concern. Small room with no television and someone was yelling off the balcony at all times of the night right next to us. Had to pay $250 dollar deductible fee besides room cost. Horrible place.

Mission district is amazing for food and nightlife. Stayed here because of that. Made a mistake roaches and bugs in the room. Crackheads in parking lot break on to your car (no security)

This hotel is not for the picky traveler. I was in one of the rooms that has the private bathrooms and I found it basically to be what I needed. Bathroom was clean. The towels smell like Clorox. The bed was comfortable. The area was not the best but there was plenty of little restaurants and bars and stores to meet my needs. This is a hotel and also is a residential building. It was near the BART and walking distance to many places I needed to get to. If you are laid-back and not picky this hotel may meet your needs. Just get the room that has the bathroom in it.

I don't care about graffiti or homeless but there gangs in area a and am sure they would have broken into my rental. When I examined property I was buzzed upstairs like in a prison cell. Loved the area. Diverse. Lots of mass transit available and easy to use. La Gaza is a great spot to eat. But only open to 2pm. :(. Overall good value, but for sure no Hilton.

Under this new management it was like pulling teeth just to get a new roll of toilet paper. The hallways consistently smelled of urine, children were running around after hours in the staff never paid attention. I found several cockroaches in my bathroom and I've never seen that before in the 10 years I have been to this hotel. I would like a little bit of compensation.

The staff didn't know how to operate the reservation system, the magnetic card key to open the door never worked so after the 1st day I left the hotel. And I have been overcharged; I will complain to Expedia about it. I want my money to be fully refunded.

The bedroom was good for the price, I was overall happy with the experience. The shared bathrooms were dirty, but doable. The price and location is right, just know what you're getting into. $250 deposit on credit card upon check-in.

The rooms don’t have their own bathroom there’s like a bathroom that you have to share with everybody on the floor the rooms are small and cramped no AC in the rooms they give you a fan that’s too dusty to blow out air trash everywhere outside I do not recommend last option for sure

They never found my reservation and still charged me I demand my money back. They only have a bathroom per floor. PER FLOOR so it very unhealthy specially now days. The stuff was not helpful at all and said I’d get the money back but never received yet. I want my money back I did not stay there you could not find my reservation even though I was providing my reservation number. Weird but you could take my money huh?

Hotel was an absolute dumpster. We parked in the back and there was no way we would be able to leave the car there all night without it being broken into. Went in to check in and the manager was rude and wanted to charge us $250 deposit for the room and re-charge the room at a higher rate when I had already paid through Expedia. Needless to say I asked for my cards back and stated we would not be staying the night. This is the place where nightmares are made.

The hotel is falsely advertising. The building looks nothing like the photos. The building is completely vandalized. It's not safe. There's bedbugs. No wonder they don't do refunds.

I was attacked at this hotel by BED BUGS. Had over 56 bites after a 2 night stay. The Management had no empathy and even when I showed the front desk an ACTUAL bed bug, they told me they'd NEVER had them before. I bet they rented the same room out the very same day/night. Would NOT recommend.

There was only paid parking available. Or meteted parking. I was 10 minutes late on the meter. $180 fine. Only shared bathrooms and showers. No heat. A terrible place. By the time I learned all if this I couldnt find another place to book. Besides, no refunds here anyway

Room is not upto the mark to be called as Delux. room kind of old. and the Fan!! it makes noice all nights and it does not work properly no locks inside the room(washroom and the walk in closet kind of place) works well. on a whole not so satisfying place.

That wasn’t the problem, the smell of urine in the place because of the amount of urine on the floor in all of the bathrooms that never wax cleaned was horrible. Couldn’t shower for the same reason. The check-in took forever. When I asked for an extra room key, it took the receptionist 10 minutes to tell me that they charge $15 for extra room keys. I don’t know what they were doing but it took 30 minutes to check in. The rooms were dirty.

Overall the room was clean. I didn’t read the reviews before I booked the room. But to my surprise the room was clean. The front staff was kind and even held onto our suitcase for us while we roamed the surrounding area waiting for our room to be ready. The bathroom was alright (it wasn’t the cleanest, but it also was not the dirtiest) and the shower was decent. No bed bugs that I could see and my husband and I didn’t get eaten alive. The radiator was stuck on which made the room hot, but with the fan on and the window open we were fine. For the price I’m over pleased. But kinda wish I would have paid a little extra for a room with both a shower and toilet in the room. But overall was not a terrible experience. Also there is no elevator that I could find and you must be able to climb stairs to get into the hotel.

At the top of the stairs, you’re met by a shielded front desk, shielded with bulletproof glass. And for good reason!i was nearly mugged in front on the way 8n. The attendant was rude, and despite the late check in (11pm), our reservation was not registered by Expedia, and the hotel had no clue. The leek ultimately reli d on ME to call Expedia, and straighten things out. Service at the highest level! Needless o say, the room wasn’t ready (nor would I ever be). I promptly call d Expedia, and upon doing so, began protesting the misrepresentation. They seemed accommodating. But, that was a facade. They transferred me to the ‘relocation’ department, who then sent me across town, back through the awful neighborhood I just cut through, with luggage in tow, back through the hoodlum gangsters, and on to the embarcadero. This hotel is terrible first of all there's no bathroom in your room you have to share a bathroom with all the other guests the bathrooms smell like urine the hallways smell like urine. Even the comforter on our bed smelled of urine. I slept I top of the bed with towels underneath me. Also it was a little hot & there is a small air conditioner in our room but the cord doesn't reach to any of the outlets. so you can't even plug it in. It's useless. I had to sleep with the lights on because of fear of bugs this place is horrible I will never stay here again I'd like to get my money back but I'm sure that's not going to happen so at least I can save others from this hellhole...

It’s in a bad area, there is no air conditioning or ventilation in entire hotel/room, one bathroom is shared with entire hotel, one bathtub and the room it was in was flooded, and homeless/mentally ill people were screaming all night outside my window. Worst stay I’ve ever had. Never again.

The hotel is an okay place comfortable enough to sleep in but its not worth a $250 deposit! Cash you get it right back after they check your room, but with card it will take 3-5 business days. and wifi wouldn't connect either.

I would note that I am entirely comfortable staying in a range of locations in Manhattan that might be generally seen as 'rough' - this particular street / immediate precinct is truly tough. I would not in anyway recommend the location to a single female.

I am not a picky person and never leave reviews, but felt compelled to save you from a nightmare! This place should be listed as a NASTY HOSTEL / DUMPSTER and the name should be changed as El Nasty Capitan. The worst part is the shared bathrooms which stink like urine, there are hairs everywhere, no toilet paper, showers are disgusting, if you don't wear sandals to shower, you will get fungus on your feet, guaranteed! I saw a guy "mopping" with a black mop, so gross! We slept on bed with covers on, the window overlooking analley with dumpsters was broken, sink in room only had boiling water, you can get 2nd degree burns while brushing your teeth. Hard to find parking on streets and if you do, you will stay awake all night thinking your car will be broken in. Do NOT STAY AT EL NASTY CAPITAN, not even worth $20 a night.

The kitchen did not appear to be a shared space.I felt uncomfortable when I attempted to use the facilities.( other guests using the space,not sharing). Many children present,playing in the corridors of where I was staying. Bathrooms...all of the three showers,bath combinations dirty,stained,wet floors and smelly. The 2 toilets available where my room was were very dirty,overflowing smelly rubbish bins,wet smelly dirty floors. I did complain.,& was shown a much better bathroom over other side of stairs.On this side of the floor ,the area was cooler,lit better,nicer carpet and no smells and no children. Room was adequate,with a fridge and hand basin. Room hot. Pedestal fan, no air conditioning. Very noisy directly over the street The staff...dealt with questions ok. My second time at this hotel. Will I return.,only if I can specifically have a room in the “ nicer part”.... The location is fantastic..

After reading the reviews we made the decision to take a loss on our non refundable room and stay elsewhere. I called to let the hotel know we would not be staying but they could not understand what i was saying, he did not speak clear english.

It reminded me more of a boarding house than a hotel, will not go there ever again. Also paid for my room completely on Travelocity and yet was required upon check-in to place a $250 deposit on my credit card. Also did not feel safe outside the hotel when I was waiting on my transport to the airport. It was 9:30 at night and we had to wait outside with the seedy side of SF walking past us.

There was also a fridge, a tv, and a sink in the room. The bathrooms were missing toilet paper a few times and some didn't have sinks and had wet floors. The showers were pretty good when compared to the condition of the bathrooms. Overall they weren't disgusting and were very usable. The area around the hotel had a lot of great restaurants and night life but also a lot of homeless and shady figures. I never felt unsafe but could see some having an issue with it. For those looking for a cheap place to stay a few nights in San Francisco but are worried about a bad place, this is a great budget hotel. Definitely not a good place for a nice family vacation in my opinion

Good for the price but certain restrooms need to be cleaned a little more. Parking is difficult in the surrounding area as well as shady. Front staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. Walls are thin and guests are very loud and remain awake throughout the night.

The reception copied my passport which is normal, however when they asked for my credit card for the security deposit they took a double sided photocopy of the card! This is completely irregular and gives them unlimited ability to charge any amount to my card in ten future. No company has the right to copy the back side of your credit card. The staff are rude and border on abusive. There is a persistent smell of indian cookery because one of the rooms has been converted as a kitchen. I love Indian food but it’s not the best smell to have late at night rafting into your room. I asked to speak to manager about the incident at check in and they weren’t available. Phone them multiple times and got told the manager is rarely there. I have had to cancel my credit card and that has created significant inconvenience for me.

We booked a twin room but got a double bed. The window couldn't shut and curtain was useless. The halls smelled horrible. Staff not very nice. The bathroom sink was blocked. TV out of order. The fridge was a freezer. Shared bathrooms were disgusting.

There are so many bugs,cimex bedbug. I only stay 2 hours then check out because the bug hurt me very badl.

The location of this hotel was not great. We arrived on a late flight and by the time we arrived they had to doors gated and locked up. Ended up driving 20 minutes back towards the airport to stay in a safer location.

The hotel requested a $250 dollar deposit with a credit card for security purposes. Incase anybody smokes in the room. The room smelled like smoke when I went in the room. My deposit hasn't been returned since that day. That place sucks I don't recomm
