Cow Hollow Inn & Suites

Check-in was very easy. There is an enclosed parking lot which feels very secure and safe. The room and facilities were very clean and well maintained. Our group of seven women had several rooms and we were all very happy with the location and spacious rooms of our suites. Allowed us to come back relax some before or after dinner play some games and generally just have a great time.

One thing to be aware of – the toilet is very low and there are no grab bars either near the toilet or in the shower. Not particularly well suited for an older adult. Maybe they have a handicapped unit.

Our past stays have always been very good, but this time, not so much. There was construction going on next door to our suite, and it was awful: hammers, saws, and assorted demolition sounds. I asked to be moved, but I was told they were sold out. We got the short straw, I guess, and trying to book elsewhere at the last minute is quite difficult. Cow Hollow Inn and Suites is a nice, comfortable place when all is well, and a good value for the City, but not this time. We booked well in advance of our arrival, so a heads-up would have been the considerate thing to offer. Oh well....

There was a lot of parking which was convenient. There’s not a lot of free parking in the city. The room was clean, and way nicer than we expected. Bathroom and furniture was updated. The room had a lot of space to store our stuff. The bed was comfortable, no complaints. :)

Hotel is very clean and staff are amazing. There are many good restaurants around to choose from. But beware that the hotel is located on a very busy street and the traffic noise is horrible. If you are a light sleeper that will be a problem if you get a room on the Lombard Street side.

The hotel was lovely, staff was attentive and helpful. It was very clean. I do wish the room had a microwave! Otherwise it was perfect and we would be back.

Our room & the hallway was unfortunately not clean (for example garbage was laying in the hallway to our room for over 1 day, leftover food was found on several spots of carpet of our room upon arrival and after requesting housekeeping, hairs were on bathroom floor, shower walls, shower curtain & sink, dead bug found in bathroom, heavy dust on bedframe). We were all woken up in the middle of the night (1am) by the alarm clock going off. We brought ear plugs due to previous reviews of noise level in the area & the earplugs were a bit helpful for city noise but not for the other guests allowed to make noise after 10pm staying in the hotel. My kids forgot a small item in the room & although we live in the same state, we are being charged almost $50 for its return. On the positive side, the covered parking was a perk. It’s unfortunate because the neighborhood is great as well & our family saved up for this as a celebration for our kids hard work through a tough school year. We will find alternative accommodations in the future. We do not recommend Cow Hollow Inn.

The hotel is conveniently located by all of the attractions by the bay. A bit noisy at night due to the close proximity to the busy streets. Otherwise the stay was comfortable and there’s a nice breakfast place next door and a lot of food options within walking distance.

Very cozy and great area. My stay could’ve been an 10/10 but the reason it wasn’t is because the 2 nights I stayed there was constant noice. My partner and I had a hard time sleeping because there was constant noice coming from the upstairs during the morning and at night.

I loved the large rooms, and homey decor. The renovated shower is awesome. The location is awesome, so easy for public transportation if you want to do without a car for your stay! The air condition controls are older, however they work great. Also there is no free breakfast at this location but you can venture out to the shops. It can be noisy at night from people outside but didn’t personally bother me

Best location for home base to do everything SF & across the bridge. Secure parking included & our room had the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge from all windows. Make sure to get any one of the 4 rooms that are along Chestnut street for best access to everything Restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, etc. 1000% our go to anytime we’re in SF.

The property itself is older, so don’t expect a modern luxury hotel, especially in the common areas. But the rooms are genuinely good, clean, nicely done, and seem recently renovated. The bathroom was also clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful, and overall the hotel was exactly as described. A few downsides: there is no breakfast, no microwave in the room, and the TV was not a smart TV. It can also get a bit noisy if your room faces the road because the windows are not very soundproof. Overall, I had no real concerns. If the price is reasonable and you want to stay in a good SF neighborhood with parking included, this is a very solid choice.

Large room, comfortable beds, cleaning staff very nice and helpful The woman checking us in upon arrival the night of Sunday 5/3 had incredibly poor people skills. Her voice had very low volume. We are older and had to ask her several times to speak louder. Our husband went off to bring our car into the parking garage without the room key he would need to open the garage door, while I stayed at the front desk. When he phoned from the car that he didn’t know how to open the gate, she said that he left without the key. No compassion, no emotional sympathy, just repeated that he left without the room key. If she had told me that while I was standing there, I could have called him to come back for the key and saved him the frustration of having to back out into the street from a steep incline! She acted very unconcerned and kept repeating that he’d left without the key. Her eye contact was minimal. She seemed always more focused on something on her desk. We had driven all day and were extremely tired. She never seemed to care. She is not the person you want as a first impression of your otherwise lovely hotel!

Booking .com vs Cow Hollow regarding canceling AFTER one night stay( one party advised the other party had to OK any return, we heard the same from both sides) . Ultimately advised we booked a nonrefundable stay. Cow Hollow's Nataly had nerve to call me and ask if we were vacating after above.....obviously so they could rent the room. When I pointed out the above reason she hung up! BS, will never use Booking .com again...

It smelled like fish

Room was not clean whatsoever, there were brown curly hairs high up on the restroom ceiling, the floor of and the bathtub was brown. I also found little bits of black stuff on my bed, maybe that was just from the washer machines though it was like black soft pieces of cotton. One rude staff and the rest were great. Bring water as they don’t offer free water bottles which is a bit weird, elevator is very sketchy and closes very fast so watch out.

The room I was given was right next to a main street, and the noise level was extremely high. I could hear every type of sound from outside, which made it very difficult to sleep.

The hotel is located just one block from Chestnut Street with tons of great bars and restaurants, a great 2 mile walk to Fishermans wharf and pier 39. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The free parking was awesome!! All was exceptional

It offers good value, in an excellent and safe location in one of San Francisco’s best neighborhoods (if you’re visiting SF, it’s much better to stay in the Marina district than to stay downtown for myriad reasons) there are excellent dining, nightlife, and shopping options nearby on Chestnut and Union Streets and it’s an easy walk to the Marina Greens, the Palace of Fine Arts, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc On site parking is included, and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. You can get a 10% discount if you eat at Home Plate which is the restaurant next to the hotel. The restaurant is excellent. The check-in is a bit late, at 4 o’clock, so this is something to be mindful of depending upon your schedule. There’s nothing fancy in terms of room amenities, and the rooms are a little bit dated, but all and all it’s an excellent property.

Overall, great rates, helpful staff and great location. Loved how this hotel was close to many different restaurants and bars. Also a short walk to the marina and Palace of Fine Arts. The rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean and can’t forget the number one was the free parking. Would definitely book here again!

Unfortunately, our experience changed when our car was broken into overnight, along with four other vehicles in the parking lot. When we reported it, the front desk agent seemed unfazed and offered minimal assistance. We had to specifically ask just to get the police phone number. Azi Riahi, the Assistant General Manager, was the highlight of the stay. She went above and beyond to help us tape up our broken window so we could safely drive home. Her kindness made a stressful situation much easier to manage. Overall: great location, comfortable rooms, and convenient parking, but serious concerns about parking lot security and the lack of support from the front desk.

I have to go to SF frequently and finding a reasonably priced hotel is tough. The Cow Hollow Inn is in the Marina district which is close to where I need to go. One of the things that I truly like is that they provide Good toilet paper - I know small thing but it does make a big difference when compared to the bottom of the line TP used by other hotels.

Better part of SF I can hear people partying till 3:30 in the morning.

We liked the fact we could park in a garage that was secure. This was our first time spending a few days in San Francisco and it seemed easy with the help of the staff.

The only issue was next door : construction noise. Otherwise a comfortable place to stay.

Nicely located Noisy. Street noise is so loud and the windows facing Lombard are not double pane so it’s very noisy. Second night there was a crying baby and third night there was a room with lots of people who were loud, yelling and cussing until 2 AM. Walking up and down the hallway. You can also hear the people upstairs walking back and forth constantly. We could not sleep and the place next door started Jack hammer at 8am. Not a peaceful stay.

Just a quick overnight stay to get to an early appointment so I was mostly looking for reasonable pricing. I'd stayed previously at a place that was only slightly less expensive but that place was horrible, HORRIBLE. Anyway the Cow Hollow Inn was excellent for what I was looking for. Nice large clean room, free parking and near a range of restaurants.

Some of the staff was a little condescending but most of the gentlemen were excellent . We did have a roach crawl infront of us while we were getting ready in the restroom and it put us a little on edge but that was only once. The room was nice and there were a little bit of stains in the blankets but they were facing away from us so we didn’t mind too much to ask for a switch. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and a beautiful view of San Francisco. I excused most of these since if you are on vacation you’re not supposed to be in the hotel as much but we just wish it felt and looked a little cleaner.

Beautiful room, great location. Loved how clean it was and the design. I also really appreciated the underground locked parking garage. The bed was uncomfortable and even a simple breakfast would be a nice addition.

The Cow Hollow has made updates and provides a contemporary experience. It's easy to relax with a bath and the bedroom is well appointed. Staff was excellent and very helpful.

The only thing I have a problem about is the comfortable bolsters that help when you want to sit up in bed. That are covered in fabric and I doubt that they are washed each time? I would like to know if that is the case. They do seem clean however but I wondered about this. Are they actually cleaned with the white pillow cases/ pillows? I doubt it and that is an issue for me making me wonder if I shoukd return. I have often seen hotels just use many white pillows instead of the more decorative but probably unwashed ones.

The Cow Hollow Inn recently renovated and the rooms look great! I stay here whenever visiting family in San Francisco. They have good rates, free parking, and are located in a wonderful area of the city. It can be a little loud since it is off of a major street, but that is the same all over the city. I highly recommend it!

Parking was accessible and plenty of parking spots downstairs. Quite guests. Helpful staff. Thank you for finding my lost keys and mailing them to me in Sa Diego. That was much appreciated! Feedback regarding hotel room shower wall. I noticed the water from the shower head is hitting the shower wall grout and removing and creating a gap between tile. In a few years if left unrepaired the gap will get wider and water will cause mold issues behind the shower tile and wall. New grout is needed to prevent this issue in the near future.

To have free, easy, indoor and safe parking available along with really nice and attentive staff as well as a clean, quiet room is not an easy ask when in San Francisco! The rooms are also very reasonably priced.

The location was great and there were fantastic restaurants within walking distance. And there was plenty of parking. The windows are thin and we were awake from about 2AM to 3AM from people outside screaming and making noise. The person in the room above us stomping around and the AC/heating unit is SUPER loud so I could have turned it on to drown out some of the problematic noise, but it wasn’t good white noise - it was just loud and obnoxious.

What a nice hotel to stay while you’re in San Francisco, it’s great location, and the property it’s wonderful, it feels old San Francisco with a modern twist!

They have parking in a garage which is included which is hard to find in San Francisco. The beds were very comfortable. It is on a busy corner and it was very loud. We could hear everything from outside in our room, even people talking. We had a few spiders in our room.

This is our go to whenever we visit SF. Easy check in, clean & quiet room, and always pleasant staff!

We were in town for a concert and were lookinh for a hotel close to the venue. This property stood out because it offered free parking which is such a steal in San Francisco. I checked in and was greeted immediately. The receptionist was very nice and answered all my questions. There is parking in the front and also a lower level lot that you can only access with a key card. The room was large, clean and the bed was comfortable. The pillows were a bit soft for me and depending on where your room is you might experience street noise. I would definitely stay again though. The parking alone and neighborhood is worth it.

The best part of this place is the underground parking lot that provided us with a lot of security for our car. The lot did fill up over the weekend, but we had no issues finding a spot whenever we came back.

In the morning I called reception to request water but they referred me to the vending machines where I could purchase water but the vending machines weren’t working properly. Easy 15 minute stroll to the entrance to the Presidio and the marina district waterfront. Busy Lombard street entrance made for quick pick up by uber and Waymo cars.

Great hotel with everything you want in your hotel. All newly remodeled with comfort and style. Extremely clean even in their garage which has free parking in San Francisco which is so unusual. Rooms that have huge windows to give lots of light and you can open for fresh air! Best location in the marina area with a very walkable and safe location. Great restaurants, coffee shops and shopping just a block away. It’s the only hotel we will stay again in San Francisco!

The staff member who checked us in was super conscientious and kind. He made sure all our needs were met from granting us a top floor room, giving us a handy parking place, letting us borrow a phone charger that we needed, and helping us with an alternative payment method when I couldn’t locate my credit card right away. Our shower was great the bed was comfortable, and the room was very quiet.

This hotel took us by surprise the rooms were clean and spacious . bathrooms, newly updated, easy free parking, and on the corner of a very busy street where you can wander for shops and food. No Frills lobby and the motor in sign will make you think twice, but this is a hidden gem.

Easy and very secure parking is one of the reasons I always stay at Cow Hollow. Breakfast is not included but not a concern for choosing this hotel. Very nice staff!

We love Cow Hollow. Unfortunately, the room we had this time was right on Lombard and the latch to close the window was broken off (so street noise was louder than usual and it was cold). There was also mold on shower curtain and the drain in shower was extremely rusty. Just needs a bit of a facelift. Staff was lovely as usual though!

The remodeled rooms are excellent. Tasteful furnishings, silent climate control, cordial, efficient staff, secure parking, very comfortable bed. Two very minor issues: Motels still do not give you a soft pillow option. I prefer down or down-like. I found a long, black hair on the floor in the bathroom - housekeeper or guest (definitely not mine!)

Cons: The street was terribly loud at night and it constantly woke us up. This is probably an old building, but the lack of insulation in the windows was tough. People would drive by at all hours of the night revving their engines super loud and you could hear people walking by chatting even when we were a story above. The beds were also not very comfortable. Overall, I probably wouldn’t stay here again. But for the price, location, and parking I’d recommend it. Just wear earplugs.

This is the first time we stayed at this hotel. We were pleased with the suite ; it was clean, spacious had a kitchen ,living room. It is close to shopping and dining.

You are on Lombard street though. It’s busy until 11:00pm. My kid did fine, but I can see it being a problem for some families.

Parking allowed peace of mind, room clean, but we booked a King, checked into our room and had 2 singles. Went and spoke with front desk and was told there were no kings available. Fine, we could handle not sleeping in the same bed, until midnight when Mel’s diner started getting the after the bar people, which kept up till 3am. The level of noise was unbearable, even with a noise machine. When checking out the next morning they asked “how did you sleep” with a smirk! When I mentioned the level of noise they all laughed and stated “yes, it can be loud”. I brought up the bed situation the receptionist checked, apparently there were kings available, so they think it’s ok to lie. It’s a nice hotel in a great location BUT make sure you ensure you are getting what you booked and bring ear plugs and the loudest noise machine if your room is facing Mel’s diner.

The ice making machine in the hall way makes noise as well which sounds like somebody was constantly trying to open their door but couldn't. This gave me a feeling of being unsafe.

We loved our 3 nights stay here. Staff were loved, rooms very clean and comfortable. The only thing we found a but dangerous was that the lift doors continuously tried to close on people trying to get in with luggage. Even an elderly man trying to get in. Clean modern room with bay window overlooking bustling SF life. Quiet at night and slept with the windows open. Garage parking was a great amenity being so secure and offering a peace of mind. Restaurants galore with a Noah's Bagel attached. I booked one night with Hotels.com and had to extend another night at the desk which did cost me a bit more. Staff were friendly. Overall, this is a hidden gem that I would highly recommend.

Being in the Marina at Cow Hollow Inn was fantastic! As a former San Francisco resident, I loved the neighborhood for its convenience to all my best-loved city spots, the quick access to the GGBridge, and the great dining spots in walking distance. The only thing that was sad was having to leave at the end of my wonderful week. I will be back very soon! I’m telling all my SF friends about Cow Hollow Inn for their visiting out-of-town guests. The hotel was good for a stay in Lombard street. If you wish to explore the city through big bus, you have a stop point for the bus in ~400ft They provide free parking as well. Two levels of parking ground level and lower ground level. Decent place to stay for few nights to explore the city. Didn’t had a chance to try their breakfast.

When we checked in, we had difficulty with a room’s air conditioning not working. They did their best and moved us to a new room and later followed up to make sure that we were satisfied. The initial room was a suite, but there were no suites available so we had to downgrade to a regular size room. It was all nice in the end and I was appreciative of their attention to my problem. I look forward to returning to the hotel.

Loved the spaciousness and ambiance of the Suite - will do it again - very private and quiet. Kitchen was complete but we only used the micro & fridge - but nice to have. Parking was tight (as is every spot in S.F.) but very safe and protective of vehicle. Parking alone is what will bring me back. Walking access to Ft Mason, Presidio and Wharf was very good - but you have to walk - but we love love walking and this will bring us back. Don't miss this place.

Room was nice and very clean. Parking is extremely tight and limited. I was disappointed after we entered our room to find two double beds. We had booked a king. I called the front desk and I was told, sorry, we’re sold out of king rooms. Excuse me? That’s what I booked and should have been honored. I definitely should have been told upon check-in that the room I reserved was not available. Hallways were very warm and musty smelling. No breakfast, They suggest you go to Mel’s Diner across the street as they offer a 10% discount. However, a basic breakfast of eggs, meat, potatoes and bread was $25. We laughed and walked out.

Wow what a pleasant surprise this motel was! We were on a budget and needed a place with free parking. Wasn’t sure what to expect but The Cow Hollow Inn exceeded my expectations. It looks brand new in halls and room. Super nice and clean. It’s in the best area walking distance to restaurants and shops. Nice staff too. We will be back for sure.

I like the fact that there is parking available and one can walk to restaurants nearby. The property seems to be well maintained...every room I've stayed in has been clean and comfortable.
