Reviews
The Argonaut Hotel is highly praised for its prime location near Fisherman's Wharf, comfortable rooms, and welcoming staff. The nautical theme and historic building add to its charm. However, some guests found the parking fees exorbitant and a few had issues with noise.

Clean rooms, wonderful staff, good drinks.

Great location, friendly staff, nice clean rooms and a good restaurant attached. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Excellent location, unbeatable, clean rooms, comfortable beds, quick room service, good breakfast

The hotel itself is beautiful. The location is ideal, the rooms are comfortable, and the bay views create a sense of being connected to the city while still having a peaceful place to return to at the end of the day. What truly distinguished our stay, however, was the staff. Every person we encountered was gracious, welcoming, and genuinely committed to making our experience memorable. It never felt transactional. Instead, there was a feeling that the staff genuinely enjoyed being of service and helping guests feel comfortable, cared for, and at home. A special thank you goes to Joanna, the concierge. Joanna was extraordinary. Speaking with her felt less like receiving recommendations from a hotel concierge and more like receiving advice from a trusted relative who sincerely wanted us to have the best possible experience. She helped us navigate a very tight schedule, offered thoughtful guidance, and consistently pointed us in the right direction throughout our stay. By the end of our visit, we thought so highly of her that we invited her to come visit us in Portland. That says everything. San Francisco gave us many wonderful memories, but the Argonaut became one of the anchors of the entire trip. It was a place we looked forward to returning to each evening and a place we genuinely missed when it was time to leave.

This was the cutest hotel! It was right on Fishermans Wharf and only one block to Ghiradelli Square and walkable to Pier 39. The staff was so nice and helpful and the rooms were adorable! The hotel restaurant was the Blue Mermaid which was in the same building but next door. The food was excellent and the atmosphere had good vibes. I will definitely be staying there again! We loved it!
- 5/5
Clean, comfy, great location, great staff.
- 4/5
There was no coffee maker or microwave in the room. The closet with the safe needs lighting. There is no ventilation fan to turn on in the bathroom. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. Valet was very expensive at 85 per day. The location is the best you could hope for. Very close to the trolley.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Most of the staff was great, helpful and knowledgeable. We did have one issue with the restaurant and our bill. One manager on duty was very helpful while the other one did not seem willing to help at all. The desk staff at check in was amazing. The staff the next morning was not quite as good. This is a great place to stay in San Francisco and I would pay the higher prices to stay here again over other hotels in the area. Easy walk to Pier 39, shops, Alcatraz tours, Ghirardelli square, etc. and not a far drive from almost everything else we wanted to do.
- 4/5
Food was great, service was great Rooms are small for the price, no coffee maker, no Microwave, room service not available 24/7 , shower needs repair , shower door did not close all the way, water temp not steady
- 4.5/5
The location of the Argonaut was fantastic. We attended a graduation celebration at McCormick's and it was an easy two block walk. Great for exploring the Embarcadero. A little pricey. It turned out to be worth it for the convenience of the location and genuinely helpful staff.
- 4/5
LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT. FISHERMANS WHARF AREA . VERY EXPENSIVE VALET PARKING.SHARON AT THE DESK WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ANSWER ALL OUR QUESTIONS
- 4/5
Staff were very busy in the restaurant and it took 2+ hrs to eat a simple 2 course meal. Dissapointing!
- 4/5
Clean room and helpful staff. The restaurant could be better, service was lagged and options limited.
- 5/5
Perfect location!
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
This hotel is a 10 out of 10 ! Wonderful location ! Clean and comfortable place to stay ! This is the only hotel I would stay at in San Francisco ! I can’t wait to go back ! We loved it !
- 5/5
Our view was beautiful. The location is perfect. Liked sitting next to fireplace in the morning, sipping coffee.
- 5/5
I had always wanted to stay at this hotel and almost did 6 years ago before COVID caused us to cancel at the very last minute. It certainly doesn't disappoint! - The hotel is very striking in appearance with an impressive main entrance and lobby. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel room itself was large and roomy with lots of nautical charm. The attached restaurant and bar are excellent with space to sit outside when you are lucky with the weather as we were. Bar staff also very friendly. The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day. Was slightly disappointed that there was no coffee making facilities in the room but around there are so many great coffee shops it didn't matter. As for location, it was a few steps from the beach with wonderful views over the bay and a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf if that's where you want to go! I would certainly choose this hotel again!
- 5/5
It was a great trip
- 5/5
staff were very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
amazing
- 5/5
Everyone was really nice and welcoming! Plus, they treated our rescue dog like royalty…we will be back for sure.
- 5/5
Excellent location which is very walkable and has a ton of nearby activities. The building is great, has a lot of character, is well maintained, and is a pleasure to stay in. Good on-premise dining and wine tasting options!
- 5/5
We are hotel snobs.. I don’t like cheap, but I don’t like expensive. This hotel was everything!! Location.. had the best shops and restaurants right outside, hotel was extremely clean, beds were comfortable, pillows were perfect, price was good, valet was easy to work with..the staff in the hotel, valet and their inside restaurant were great!! I give it 5 stars.
- 5/5
Staff has been very helpful each time we have been there
- 5/5
Location location location! Such a great spot to explore San Francisco! The hotel is in great condition. Walls are a little thin but really it was mostly an annoying loud neighbor with kids. Parking is a bit steep with after tax being $85/night.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
We decided years ago this is our favorite hotel in the city. The location is simply ideal for walking to shopping, many restaurants, departure points for cable cars, tour buses, and boat tours! They constantly refresh their decor inside, and keep a great staff in every department. Yes, the Argonaut Hotel is a great place to stay in this beautiful city!
- 4/5
Great location in a nicely renovated warehouse.
- 5/5
Great service, clean facility, good restaurant, great coffee!
- 5/5
The hotel is right in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. 5-minute walk to everything. The room was clean and bright. The cleaning staff where very accommodating and the concierge was awesome! They had great suggestions and discount cards for meals and shows! I would stay here again!
- 5/5
I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was welcoming and attentive from check-in to check-out, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The location was also very convenient, with easy access to nearby restaurants and attractions. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful time! Walking distance to many places. Loved it!
- 3/5
Clean room and quiet if you are facing the inner garden. Someone was smoking inside another room so the whole floor smelled bad. Breakfast was good but way too expensive (26$ + taxes and tips for 2 eggs with 3 slices of bacon and a toast). Overall a great experience in a nice neighborhood, but in the end felt a little too expensive for what it is.

Clean and simple. Excellent staff! The whole process was super smooth. We liked it so much we stay again at the end of our trip before we flew out the next day!

Room was clean, staff were amazing, also breakfast was very good.
- 4.5/5
Great location, good bar and restaurant. Valet was very helpful . View of the bay was good Nothing
- 5/5
Yes the property is completely pet friendly it is 100 bucks per dog. They give you a little treat box
- 5/5
Doorman and bellman. Great concierge, check in a breeze , ice and water dispenser in hall. Very friendly staff.
- 4/5
didnt like the light coming in from the courtyard at night.
- 2/5
Overpriced at check
- 5/5
There were dishes and people‘s beer left outside my door for two days. I tried to get room service the first night and called three times with no response than the front desk so they would call me and they never did. I ordered takeout and when I got there, they never called to let me know and they had no coffee machine in the room. You had to order it and I never got a coffee machine delivered used to be my favorite hotel ever but I think I’m done.
- 5/5
Location was fabulous! Staff was friendly and very helpful. We will stay again!
- 4/5
Nice room, area around hotel lots of amenties
- 4/5
Our room was excellent and very clean. We loved the restaurant. The HALLWAYS are horribly cold!!
- 4/5
We really enjoyed our stay overall. The doorman was particularly helpful at the hotel! And it was in a great location. The room was quite nice and very clean. The only thing that was a little bit frustrating was the check-in process. It was sometimes hard to find people at the front desk, and they seemed to move a bit slowly and not greet you quickly. Otherwise, a great day! Would definitely return!
- 5/5
Amazing stay!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
We had such a great experience here. Great front desk service, large rooms with comfy beds and great views- ours was of Alcatraz. Ample sized bathroom with good shower. Wonderful housekeeping!!! The lobby is absolutely adorable and super fun and comfy to sit around. I've never used a lobby more than here. Free coffee station in the morning. The hotel gives two coupons for a free glass of wine and 15% off in the restaurant. We only got the bread appetizer, but it was good. There is a small museum attached that details the space, which was a former cannery. It's located across the street from the park that separates the beach and Ghiradelli Square. Located close to mass transit stops and great restaurants. Definitely recommend the breakfasts at both Buena Vitsa (known for their liquor coffees) and Surisan (has both American and Korean style breakfast options). My only complaint is the tiles on the ceiling as you enter the room, the spaces between them need to be dusted!
- 5/5
Walkable to see the sights! Clean and comfortable beds!
- 5/5
Great hotel for exploring the city! Perfect location and charming, comfortable Room.
- 5/5
A nice Boutique hotel close to the Warf.

Great room with great location
- 4/5
Really cool hotel right on the water front. Great location, awesome building Bathrooms feel like they haven't been updated in 30 years! Cool stylish hotel but the bathrooms are like from a cheap motel
- 5/5
Very nice stay, would recommend.
- 5/5
This place is an ideal stay to experience San Francisco. We had a family of 4 with a toddler, and we found it very close to everything we wanted to see. We went over to Fishermans wharf, we walked down to union square, we got on the trolley so the car was rarely needed other than our trip to Muir Woods and the Giants game. The valet team was very quick with service. My only minor complaint was "city view" just ended up being a view of the building next to us so don't go expecting an amazing view of the bridge or Alcatraz. Overall, a great stay!
- 5/5
great stay, clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
No pool
- 4/5
Room was spacious and clean. Whole hotel could use a good sprucing up. The restaurant (although we did not eat) but we sat at the bar is a lovely space. Location is great- far enough from the very "touristy" area of FW but lose enough to walk to little Italy and up Lombard Street heading into Polk street- highly recommend.
- 4/5
Overall a nice stay and good area to explore but expensive

Lovely hotel in a convenient location. 10/10 would stay again
- 0.5/5
The hotel is really has perfect location and both common spaces and rooms “are styled in tasteful nautical accents”! But!!! But!!! The “featuring views of the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz Bay” promised by the room description turned out to be a window facing a cable car stop, with a narrow strip of water visible in the corner. There were no amenities in the room, no bathrobes, no slippers. About half of the items had price stickers on them — meaning you’d have to pay if you used them, lost them, or, heaven forbid, took them with you: on the water bottles, on the plush seal on the bed, on the umbrella… To top it all off, in what was supposedly a cleaned toilet before your arrival, there was a fairly substantial piece of toilet paper floating in it. After that, the little machine on the desk — kindly offering a cashless way to leave tips for the hotel staff in case you didn’t have cash — triggered nothing but Homeric laughter… Another curious innovation at breakfast was sprinkling an Italian frittata with Greek feta cheese and adding a generous portion of fried potatoes on the same plate… well, okay — their chef is an artist, that’s how he sees it ?

Overall - great location. Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Restaurant was really good. Loved the lobby to play cards at night with the kids.
- 4/5
Great area
- 5/5
Argonaut went above and beyond for our recent birthday stay. The room, location, staff, amenities, restaurant, etc. were first class! Always on our list for return visits. N/A
- 5/5
Very good
- 4/5
It is listed as a spa, it doesn’t have one. Other than that is a great place to stay.
- 4.5/5
The Argonaut Hotel is in a wonderful location, right on Fisherman’s Wharf. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Bed and pillows were super comfortable, and despite being in a busy area, it was a quiet and peaceful experience. The restaurant hotel, The Blue Mermaid, left a lot to be desired. While it’s convenient for early morning grub, it’s overpriced for the quality of food you receive. You do get a $15 daily credit during your stay, which is helpful, and the service is decent. But there are better food options nearby for less (the Buena Vista, for example). My only other critique has to do with the general “perfume” of the hotel. I was surprised at the distinct smell emanating from the lobby and hallways on each floor. It wasn’t an unpleasant smell, but it was really strong on certain days. As someone who’s sensitive to perfumes, this was a drawback for me. While I appreciate an environment that smells good, I prefer to not have distinct scents super prevalent in the hotel I’m staying. This is just personal preference, however, and may not be a negative to everyone.
- 5/5
Yes this is a touristy area. But you go tell the sea lions, gulls and fishermen that. They dont care! Easy ubers, trolly, waterfront walking and up the hill from here is not horrible.
- 5/5
Great hotel, location, and service
- 5/5
I have stayed at several hotels downtown San Francisco and this hotel is my absolute favorite. Beautiful nautical style interior that is cozy and welcoming. The staff is phenomenal with front doors being opened for you by a doorman, front desk, restaurant, and bar staff are so friendly. The hotel restaurant food was also surprisingly delicious for breakfast and dinner, it was far from the typical hotel food. Compliments to our waitress she was incredible. The bed was comfortable and the room large and nice. The location is also perfect, within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf and on a safe strip of road with plenty of restaurants, stores, and things to do. I will definitely be returning!
- 5/5
So close to Fisherman's Wharf and lots of restaurants and shops. Very walkable to other parks of the city - although be prepared to walk uphill :-)
- 5/5
Employer super gentil
- 5/5
Everything was great just parking and amenities are expensive
- 5/5
The Hotel itself was amazing. I had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The hotels' nautical theme and style looked great. The restaurant was delicious and everything I wanted was within a 10-minute walking distance. I would definity stay there again.
- 5/5
friendly staff
- 5/5
Perfect stay. Clean and bright. Great employees. Restaurant was great. Loved every minute.
- 5/5
Such a cute boutique hotel and centrally located. It is at the end of Fisherman’s Wharf -away from the cheesy part of the wharf. We walked everywhere.

Everything was wonderful and we were able to upgrade to a beautiful suite. Excellent location - can’t be beat!!
- 5/5
Absolutely stunning! The hotel is beautiful and comfortable - a perfect landing spot for a quick trip to San Francisco. Thank you for the wonderful service!
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Excellent location. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
It’s a bit loud
- 2/5
We booked our reservation through Expedia and after doing so I called because I had read that valet parking was included which they confirmed over the phone. When I booked, I had also upgraded to courtyard view, but since we got there late at night, I didn’t say anything after I had seen that we had a view of their AC units. It was too much of a hassle to move rooms with two little kids, so we decided to stay and not say anything until checkout since we paid an additional fee. The agent told me that valet was not included because I booked through Expedia even though I told him I had called to confirm the same day after booking and their courtyard was not accessible, nor was it a true courtyard because there were no seats or anything. It was a rooftop with AC units on it, but he claimed it was their courtyard.
- 5/5
Room was immaculate and comfy. We dined at Scomas for dinner then had a wonderful breakfast at the Blue Mermaid
- 2/5
Room was not ready when we arrived. We were told to change for our date night in the hotel bathroom. Once we got the room, toilet worked intermittently. Shower door wouldn’t stay closed. Then in the morning cleaning staff tried to open the door despite it being marked as do not disturb, which was two hours before our check out time. We got a $100 credit toward their restaurant, but overall not a good stay. Plus the bed was uncomfortable and the A/C barely worked. Will not return.
- 2/5
Room was ok. Could be cleaner/updated. Elevators are slow. Neighborhood is noisy at night. Didn’t love the restaurant. Also seemed dirty. Service was friendly and professional.
- 3/5
Great location. However, service was poor, especially considering they are an upscale establishment. They over promise and under deliver. It was the first and only time I would stay there.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Excellent location!
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
Clean room, good facilities, friendly staff, great location.
- 5/5
It was clean, nice, great!!
- 4.5/5
Perfect location. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Room was clean and amenities were well kept up. Hotel doesn't meet the "luxury" prices, but I guess you're paying more for the location
- 4.5/5
Great location! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well decorated. We will be back. The bathrooms could use a remodel.
- 5/5
Everything was great, friendly service and professional stuff with support , one of go spot in SF
- 5/5
The lobby decor was so fun and went with the vibe. The Mermaid restaurant was tasty and convenient. The drinks and bartender were also a good time. Super happy with the location, lots to do in the area and walkable to a lot of places. Would stay again and recommend to family & friends.
- 5/5
Thanks for stuff. It will be one of places for me when I go back to SF.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Very friendly people. Nice hotel
- 5/5
The stay was very nice and the food was good as well.
- 5/5
Great room! Hotel is close to everything.
- 5/5
Loved the location. Restored canning factory transformed into a luxury hotel. The bartender Jeff is so friendly and gave us superb advice about what to see and what places were t worth the trouble. We were so glad we followed his advice to visit the San Francisco Science Academy. Amazing experience. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Housekeeping came every day. Loved it. What’s not to like?
- 5/5
Even if you pay a little more for Argonaut compared to some other hotels near the Fisherman’s Wharf, you will not be disappointed! Got for it and you’ll thank me for the recommendation. We will definitely come back!
- 5/5
el hotel es lindo limpio todos muy amables definitivamente volveria
- 5/5
Hotel was a surprise. Enjoyed my stay thoroughly
- 5/5
It was nice but the theme was overwhelming. I have no negative thoughts here. I do not like theme based experiences. The location was very good.
- 4/5
Ok hotel in a good location
- 5/5
Cheerful spacious room. Nice staff.
- 3/5
A great location! We enjoyed the historic feel and proximity to Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman’s Wharf! Did not feel much enthusiasm in terms of hospitality and the room was small with a strange shower. The lobby and restaurant were very nice! Would recommend if only for the location; but definitely not a luxury hotel! History buffs will enjoy the adjoining Museum and there is a nice Wine Tasting Room in the same building!
- 5/5
Go and stay!
- 5/5
Great location, clean, and spacious!
- 5/5
Room was very clean and neat. Restaurant was amazing! All staff was very attentive and friendly. The location is great too!
- 3/5
The employees weren’t helpful, the bed was uncomfortable,
- 4/5
Perfect location, helpful staff, easy valet parking but very expensive!
- 3/5
Very helpful staff at the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel needs staff who can attend the customers.
- 5/5
Great place
- 3/5
The location was very nice.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, clean room
- 5/5
Quick check-in. Room was ready early.
- 2/5
The heating in our room did not work so we had to sleep in 58 degrees with a 3 year old toddler. The space heaters that they brought to remediate caused the breakers to flip so we had no electricity in the room. At 4am, the cleaning crew emptied the recycling bins (glass) outside the hotel and we heared it all, for about 20 minutes. Lastly, the alarm on the radio woke us up again at 6:30am. Net, we slept less than 4 actual hours, with a 3 year old. All of us were miserable and trying to talk to the manager has been impossible since he was nowhere to be found. Don't stay in room 203...
- 5/5
Very spacious and classy
- 4/5
The staff were SO nice and responsive! The booking was very misleading though, warning: the valet charges you $75 per night and gives you limited alternative parking options- welcome to San Francisco. Room was clean, beds were cozy, they had a phone charger, but an accidental 8:45am doorbell by the housekeeper was annoying. It was awesome being close to Ghirardelli Square and fisherman’s wharf - super convenient.
- 5/5
Great spot
- 5/5
Beautiful entry. Nice staff. Rooms are decorated with a tasteful nautical theme. Great location to restaurants, Alcatraz, and Ghirardelli’s. Very comfortable beds.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing. The rooms and the entire Hotel is really cool. Enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay eith amazing staff
- 5/5
Absolutely amazing hotel!

The check in staff were attentive and friendly. This hotel is so nice we appreciate the attention to detail. We enjoyed having The Blue Mermaid close by and a lot of other great shops and restaurants. Can’t wait to come back!

- 5/5
Great staff, convenient to the wharf
- 5/5
Wonderful atmosphere, very festive for Christmas. Great staff and wonderful having restaurant on site.very welcoming, comfortable and warm ll be back!
- 5/5
Great location. Nice rooms with tons of space. Great restaurant and lounge. Parking was expensive ($50 per day with self park and $75 per day valet). Other than that great customer service!
- 1/5
The staff, the lack of heat, the quality of the towels.
- 3/5
It would have been an excellent rating, however the fire alarms went off at 2 am and guests were forced out to the street in freezing temperatures! No fire or police responded, no hotel staff in sight! After about 15 minutes, the alarms stopped and we went back to our rooms. I was not able to get back to sleep. It would have been nice for someone on hotel staff to tell us what was going on! Hotel should have offered guests free breakfast at the very least!
- 5/5
Staff excellent, location for us was great. The quieter end of Fisherman’s Wharf. Boutique feel stay in an historic area. Hotel was old Del Monte packing facility. Interior is awesome. Elegantly done.
- 5/5
Great location, excellent staff.
- 5/5

- 3/5
The hotel is a bit loud and the rooms could use more lighting
- 5/5
Fantastic location, clean, large rooms. The staff are great. Met all of our requests and gave great advice on things to do and see in SF.
- 5/5
Wow! What a stunning hotel. Extremely clean, quiet, and exceptional service! Located right in the heart of the wharf!

Great place
- 5/5
The Staff was extremely friendly. I needed an upgrade to a handicap room and the staff was very accommodating. Our view of the Golden Gate Bridge was amazing. I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Was overpriced for the room you get but a very nice hotel nonetheless
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable. Great to be so close to the water. The area is more touristy than other areas in SF.
- 5/5
Very nice stylish, warm and cozy hotel. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Location was excellent, and our room had a pretty view of the bay.
- 5/5
The room was clean, staff were all helpful and overall great. The doormen greeting us upon exit and return was pleasant. The daily credit towards the restaurant and the unlimited water bottles were much appreciated.
- 5/5
Great Easy Great
- 5/5
If you are visiting San Francisco for the first time and clueless on where to stay - this is the perfect place at FIsherman's Wharf. This hotel offers golden gate view rooms and Alcatraz Island view rooms among others. It also offers a $15 credit at the restaurant each time you dine and thats a good deal considering the food is outstanding at the property. The service is immaculate to say the least, starting from the warm welcome at the front desk to the concierge persons and the housekeeping staff everyone was very kind and polite. TLDR: Book this place for a wonderful san francisco trip!
- 4/5
Young man assisted us with bags on arrival was excellent. So were staff at door.

- 4/5
Decent. It a super touristy hotel. Would not recommend for a business stay.
- 3/5
The other properties behind it better value for your money!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
The hotel was perfect, great location, clean and in a spot that was easy to get around Frisco!
- 4/5
The hotel was in a prime location and the check in and check out experience was wonderful. Our room had dirty coffee cups and no conditioner in the shower. The restaurant staff could have tried to be welcoming - but that seemed to ask a lot. Aside from that, everything was very clean and we would return
- 3/5
The hotel was solid but could have been cleaner
- 5/5
amazing room, great staff
- 5/5
Great room. Great view. Great front desk and housekeeping staff!

The Argonaut was perfect for my short stay in SF. I’ll definitely be back!
- 5/5
Great hotel service but as for bar service was disappointing
- 5/5
Nice place. Valet parking $75/day kinda pricey.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Return stay at a great hotel! Clean, comfortable room; friendly and helpful staff. Sure it’s a busy hotel in a busy area, but convenient location…great area to walk along the waterfront.
- 1/5
Room was very loud with traffic/trucks outside.
- 5/5
location, location, location. friendly staff, clean rooms, restaurant on site, valet parking.
- 5/5
The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean. Great location. Our second time staying there
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was pleasant
- 1/5
Was charged a "guest amenities" fee of 42 dollars per night inc taxes. No choice. They tell you this at checkin. This is to cover complimentary stuff which you would expect in hotel booking cost. Coffee in room and use of hotel wifi. Rip off. Book elsewhere.
- 5/5
Staff from Door Mann to bartender to front desk were amazing! We will definitely be back
- 5/5
Great hotel, but know you're in a tourist area and that brings a lot of noise with it

We were so happy with our stay at the Argonaut. Our room was very clean, and cleaned thoroughly each day. We used the fitness room, and were pleased with the variety of equipment provided. We had a spectacular view of the Warf.
- 5/5
Wonderful location for fisherman’s wharf, restaurants, trolley and cable car. We had a view of the Golden Gate Bridge from our room. Very nice hotel. Very quiet. Good restaurant attached to hotel and other amenities.

I wanted to give a 5 star review based on that alone. However, our room was not cleaned for two days and when I went and made reception aware the supervisor was quite rude and intimated that I may have been at fault by not making the cleaners aware that I wanted the room cleaned!! I had left the light on for 2 days that said,’please make up my room’. Not sure what further measures were required! I was told that they couldn’t do anything about my room that day as the cleaners went home at 4 pm! It was now 6pm. I was so gobsmacked in an American hotel where customer service is king, to be given that response. They did relent and gave money off but I was really disappointed the way that it was handled. Also, on our first day the carpet throughout our floor had, what looked like, Shake n vac sprinkled all over it. Only problem. It was left like that for 2 days! It looked unprofessional in such a totally beautiful hotel to have white powder all over the carpet. All the guests on my floor were discussing it and mystified why this would be left this way and considered acceptable in such a prestige hotel. I wanted to really love this hotel experience and it has great facilities. It just needs better management and staff that care.
- 5/5
Perfect location! Beautiful boutique hotel and the staff was top notch! We had a wonderful stay and we would stay here again for sure!
- 5/5
Charming hotel in ideal location central to restaurants, shopping, and sight-seeing opportunities.
- 3/5
Room was slightly dated. Very few options for food near hotel. Staff were lovely and helpful with check in.
- 4/5
The 3rd floor elevator lobby smelled like vomit and there was carpet deodorizer on the rug- we guess trying to deodorize. It was pretty bad. Otherwise staff was friendly, overall hotel was nice and the location was great.
- 5/5
Beautiful property and very friendly staff!
- 4/5
Great location, fast check in, however check in is late, 4pm and even if room is ready you can’t get to your room without paying $60 fee.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
Location of hotel is awesome. The staff were all wonderful. Love the hotel.
- 5/5
Pretty good inexpensive option if you are staying in the area!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and room with view of the bay. Close to restaurants, shopping and things to do.
- 5/5
Lots of great restaurants around. My wife loved all the 5 Star service
- 5/5
The hotel was wonderful. Location, staff, rooms, and atmosphere was top notch.
- 5/5
Charming, great location, friendly staff
- 5/5
Safe, quiet and great location and customer service was excellent
- 4/5
I was a cool old industrial builidng in a watefront location. Not much facilities.
- 5/5
Wonderful location. Clean and beautiful hotel, friendly staff and bed super comfortable.
- 5/5
The perfect place to stay when visiting San Francisco. It’s advertised as an airport hotel on Expedia- not recommended. It’s over 10 miles from the airport and the traffic in and around San Fran is ridiculous. To be safe you would need to allow 2 hrs travel time.
- 2/5
Staff unfriendly, issues with aircon- never resolved.
- 5/5
Very central to all tourist spots. Restaurants very expensive around the area including the restaurant inside the hotel. Easy to get Uber and walkable to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, Ghirardelli and trolley. Kinda pricey but rooms are spacious. Fridge and coffee available in the room. Will try other hotels next time.
- 2/5
I requested to fix the bathroom door that it makes noise and the conditioner in the bathroom does not functioning, but nothing happened and they did not fix it.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay at the Argonaut Hotel! The staff was friendly and they were very accommodating. Location is a bit touristy, but very walkable and easy to get to other parts of the city! A huge plus is the valet parking - parking in SF can be very tough, so that was a big reason why I picked this property. Room was nice and spacious. Overall, a lovely stay!
- 5/5
Pleasant and accommodating. Only problem was one of the elevator was out and we had to wait a long time for the one elevator that was working
- 5/5
We lived the Argonaut. Perfect place to explore the City. Pristine clean, comfy beds, good shower, and very convenient. My daughter however, had a bad experience because the room next to her was extremely noisy. With kids and parents. She barely slept for each of two nights. I felt very sorry for her since our experience was so different. Buyer beware I guess. I would have complained but she is not that person.
- 5/5
Loved the beds! Very quiet rooms and overall, an excellent stay!
- 5/5
Great area
- 4/5
Thank you.
- 5/5
Great location and a nice property. Close to a Fishermans Wharf, the cable cars, and numerous restaurants.
- 4/5
Lovely hotel and great reception seating area with open fire. We weren’t made aware of the discount or allowance in the hotel restaurant sadly on check in so missed that perk. Room nice and comfy ~ shower over bath always a bit of a pain but that’s personal preference. Great selection of snacks and drinks in mini bar. Thoughtful selection. Great location for walking along the front and easy to get everywhere. Would come back!
- 5/5
The Argonaut is in a great location to see many of San Francisco bay area attractions, all within walking distance. The hotel is clean, quiet and safe, with great hospitality service.
- 5/5
Great location and nice-sized room.
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
Nice hotel, great location
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Fisherman warf is a little sketchy.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, and safe environment. I would choose this hotel every single time.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Great for kids!!
- 4/5
Hotel was located in a great area, with easy access to Fisherman’s Wharf. Staff were very helpful. Parking was easy, though expensive if using the hotel valet service. Room was comfortable and clean. Only downside was an accidental fire alarm at 4 in the morning which meant we didn’t sleep much.
- 3/5
This property feels more like a tourism factory than a hotel. Completely impersonal, quite unfriendly check in. Rooms are fine and relatively quiet. But the whole property is devoted devoid of character. Stay here if you want the convenient location, but not if you want a nice hotel experience!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Elegant,great service and beautiful building
- 5/5
Loved the Argonaut! Great location and such a cute vibe!
- 3/5
Valet lied to me. Said he tried but my truck wouldn’t fit in their garage even though gps showed it never moved. I picked this hotel based on valet service
- 5/5
Didn’t like hidden fees and added taxes. Also didn’t like cost of parking. Too high! Liked location and cleanliness/comfort.
- 5/5
The Argonaut is a great place to stay, easy access to all the attractions, The Blue Mermaid has a great menu, we had multiple meals there and enjoyed everything. Staff is great, any questions just ask. Would easily book here again for a future trip. We have stayed in all the major chain hotels on the wharf over the years but the Argonaut is the nicest by far, had a great 3 night stay! Thanks
- 3/5
Overall, we had a decent experience staying at the Argonaut and loved how convenient it was.
- 5/5
Excellent location, walkable , nice hotel architecture and Mr. Domingo was very kind and helpful A+++
- 3/5
NEAR PIER 39
- 4/5
Argonaut is one of my “go to’s” when I’m in San Francisco. Great location for walking around and it’s easy enough to grab public transit near by.
- 5/5
This hotel has it all! Beautiful unique rooms, remarkable hospitality and perfect location.
- 5/5
It was terrific
- 5/5
Perfect location and beautiful lobby and rooms. Staff was excellent.
- 5/5

Great location, friendly staff
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful! Rooms are so nice and clean. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Great location. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Great convenient

Mixed bag. Great location, especially for Fisherman’s Wharf. Walking distance to trolleys, Alcatraz ferry, and more. Nice hotel but not much in terms of extras or amenities. Some staff nice, some not. They told us we’d have to pay $75 extra to check in before 4:00 pm! Totally ridiculous when the room is sitting ready!!! Most front desk staff were not particularly friendly. They have a restaurant, and we went to get drinks and no one came to serve us. We told the hostess who said someone would come soon. After 15 minutes we left. Totally rude. There is no reason to stay here except for the location. Side note - sadly lots of restaurants have closed in the last few years in the area. It’s so different than it used to be.
- 5/5
The staff were awesome very attentive. Clean & nice view. Only negative was slowness at restaurant. Food yummy but delay in taking order getting drinks refills but staff still friendly. I think just need to be more attentive. I would totally stay there again.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful and a great location. We walked to Ghirardelli, pier 39, and Fisherman's Wharf. We also walked to the Palace of Fine Arts but that was longer. There is a merritime museum onsite and a restaurant. But also lots of food places nearby. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Love the nautical vibes of the property. Calm and quiet, rooms soundproof is a plus. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Beautiful building, great location close to fisherman’s wharf and cable cars. Very helpful and polite staff. Would stay here again ✅
- 1/5
Did not have room type booked available. Tried to downgrade me into a tiny dark room without any compensation. Told me it was either that or I could leave and they’d refund me. I had to find another hotel at midnight after traveling all day. Would not book again!
- 4/5
99%. The lighting system was different... They might have explained that there was a privacy light to press. Then I'm not sure if I was to turn on another for service but the room was not cleaned and I had asked the maid in the hall if she could clrean the room. She lost a tip. She would have gotten one for each day.
- 5/5
Amazing property, loved the room and the location was WOW. Special thanks to Stephanie at the front desk, she was sensational.
- 5/5
Parking in general isnpreety exp

Great property and location
- 4/5
Hotel was beautiful. Had a great time.
- 5/5
Its very convenient and the area was safe and clean. The hotel had great ambiance and trendy decor. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The room was larger than it looks in photos. The fridge held a ton of leftovers and waters. Beds and pillows were comfy. The only complaint is....the shower tile grout and around the shampoo/soap dispensers inside had mold and mildew that needed attention. The rest of the shower and tub was clean, probably hard for housekeeping to get inside the shower for a proper clean. We will definitely stay again! Great hotel!
- 4/5
Hotel was great. Unfortunately there was only one chair in the room. My wife and I could not sit and have a coffee/drink.
- 5/5
- - - Strongly recommend they add an eco-water filling station & get rid of the single use plastic water bottles that they hand out at check in.
- 5/5
loved staying here lots of character, clean and great location. we also enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in those big comfy chairs in the lobby.
- 5/5
Wonderful location

Great location and clean!
- 5/5
Friendly professional staff
- 5/5
Our stay at The Argonaut was fantastic, the staff were really helpful and friendly and the location was excellent.
- 5/5
The hotel was really nice. My only complaint was in the restaurant where I had a white milk soup which was supposed to to be clam chowder. Worse clam chowder I’ve ever had- and no taste of clams. Just little crunchy veggies and 3 minuscule pieces of clam. Other than that- our stay was very comfortable.
- 3/5
Hotel was nice. Very expensive for overnight parking and additional fees we missed on booking thru hotels.com
- 4/5
This hotel ended up being better than I thought. If you're a super light sleeper like I am, you may have issues unless you get a "courtyard" room (just inner walls & a couple plants.) My room was on the street but on the very backside of the hotel. Day time was still noisy but night was quiet enough. Beds/ pillows sup comfy. Inside dark/ no natural light but nice & clean. Only had drinks at the restaurant & they were so bad we sent them back. Didn't try the food. This was disappointing. ALL employees were nice & helpful. BUT our stay was tainted by a BUNCH of sneaky & undisclosed extra fees. They advertise valet parking as $75/ night (you have no other choice if you have a vehicle.) But when you checkout they charge you a "tax" on the valet so it ends up being $85/ night. Just be upfront & honest & say it's $85. Then all the other taxes/ fees also, which isn't necessarily the fault of the hotel. However they double charged us for parking. When we tried to call & discuss both the front desk guy & front desk manager tried to tell us the bill was correct & to just accept it. It was only after we didn't let up that they acknowledged & corrected the mistake. But even the correction they didn't fully refund us. Whether that was an honest accident or another sneaky attempt to extort more money, I'm not sure. They did eventually fix that as well but it required yet another phone call on our end. This truly soured the whole experience which was otherwise wonderful and pleasant.
- 4/5
Decor in rooms was very nice! Location was great! Not so happy with amenities fee and concierge! She was good about discounts, but not so much on information! Pretty expensive I must say, but I guess it is all about location!!
- 5/5
Great location right between the popular wharf shopping and Ghirardelli square. Spacious rooms. Enjoyed our bay view. View of the Golden Gate bridge was an added bonus
- 4/5
I really like staying at this hotel. The only drawback is the lack of staffing for the valet parking because it’s your only option. It can be greatly impacted especially on a Saturday afternoon.
- 5/5
Always a beautiful experience.
- 5/5
Can't beat the location of the Argonaut. Walking distance to so many great restaurants and sights..and classic cable car boards right next door! Hotel restaurant is excellent for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Super comfortable rooms, great bedding, and the huge lobby with fireplace is perfect spot for morning coffee or late cocktails! Our 3rd time here, and we will definitely return.
