The DEXTRO Little Italy, BW Premier Collection

My only complaint is the mattress. I usually love a soft pillow-top bed, but this one was so soft that it offered almost no support. It felt like sleeping on a waterbed (minus the water). Unfortunately, I woke up with my back feeling wrecked for a couple days. If you have any back issues or don’t sleep well on uber soft mattresses , you may want to look elsewhere until the mattresses are replaced. Otherwise, it’s a solid budget-friendly option.

It was the perfect pitstop.

Good stay with comfortable bed. Room was slight wear and tear. Ceiling had a stain that could have been cleaned up. Hotel right by freeway so you can hear the cars driving by in room.

The remote didn’t work, the phone didn’t work, and we had to ask for more towels by calling on my phone to the front desk and they told us house keeping comes every other day but never actually came to clean the room. The parking was a mess and I had to pay $45 a night. The breakfast was included but the day we came down for breakfast the lady said it wasn’t and she had to check at the front desk to make sure. We tried to go 2 more times but all the food was pretty much gone by 9am.

Hotel was clean and well maintained. We were 6 blocks from the trolley to take to Petco Park for a Padre game. Continental breakfast is not complimentary-$20/person. Parking was $45/day.

The toilet also became clogged during our stay. Although maintenance responded quickly and fixed it with a plunger, it was still very inconvenient. Another downside was the parking fee of $45 per day, which I found excessive. On our last day, I had breakfast at the hotel. It was a simple meal of eggs and bacon, but about 30 minutes after leaving, I became very sick. I'm not sure whether it was a stomach bug or if the food wasn't fresh, but it was an unpleasant way to end the stay.

The parking spots get filled up so fast. Even after paying for parking, it was sometimes hard to get a spot. Maybe they need to add more parking facilities to their current one. Outside of that, what an incredibly nice experience it was.

The location is very convenient to Little Italy, less than 10 minute walk, also a few more blocks and you're at the bay, right at the "Star of India", so very easy to get around. The hotel is very well maintained, our room was great, very comfortable and clean, bathroom was very nice. Bar and bar staff was very nice and friendly as well. Only issue we had was the refrigerator pretty much froze everything we put into it. We even turned it all the way down to the lowest setting we could. Otherwise, no issues.

This is a great budget hotel . Bed was super comfy, room was nice for what you pay and they let me do early check in which was nice . It’s in the middle of downtown and right off the 5 so it’s a little noisy outside at times . If that bothers you or you prefer it to be more quiet I suggest staying elsewhere . Otherwise my only complaint was the parking costs . It’s pretty pricy at $35 a day but that seems consistent with most other hotels located in the area .

It was great to have onsite parking without dealing with a valet. The underground parking level was easy to navigate.

Parking was awful. people were taking up two spots at a time while there was minimal parking as is. I was blocked from leaving at one point from cars cramming themselves into spots that were even allowed !! It was so upsetting

The staff were always very nice, which we appreciated.

Housekeeping is very inconsistent with when they come. Door are very close together, and close loudly. Convenient location. Did not eat any meals here.

The property was on a corner so not a whole lot of property but well maintained. The only diwn fall was 35.00 charge to park in their garage.

The lobby smelled really nice, the room was okay, nothing spectacular. we did have a hiccup, someone next to us was smoking cigarettes. The staff were prompt in addressing the issue. The one thing I did not like about the property was the parking, it was very tight parking, so beware if you drive a larger car or suv

The room we had faced the fwy, it was way too noisy. One staff out of three that I somewhat had interactions with was nice another was decent. Lack of interaction with one was because he didn’t seem to see me in line to check out and he opted to help the party in line (if there was one) behind me. Property and room was clean and conveniently located, but too close to the fwy. Parking lot was fine, smelled like weed when I drove in. I did like that we were able to walk to Little Italy. Again, room was clean. I stayed at 613 and the other party 913, 3 stories above. Even though I book both rooms together they were not able to get us any closer (I checked in first and lady who checked me in said she would be able to get us on the same floor but not adjacent). We both enjoyed the sunset view and the gas station and freeway and cars racing at night.

One working elevator made the stay annoying. Staff were friendly. 35 dollars for parking on property is ridiculous and should be included with the stay. Great location though but I’m sure there’s something better around. Would not stay here again by my own will.

Baseboards were dusty when we first got the room. We stayed for 7 days, the view from our room was fantastic. Unfortunately only 1 elevator was working which was a hassle because we were on the top floor.

1. There was only 1 elevator that worked for the entirety of our stay, which is ridiculous for 3 days. 2. The room had no mirrors other than the bathroom. 3. The room had terrible lighting. 4. The telephone in the room was not connected to a working line. In order to get in touch with staff we had to call on our personal cell phones. 5. We also noticed that out by the pool there was a bee hive, which flooded the pool and surrounding area with active bees. 6. We were also charged a $30 daily parking fee, absolutely insane for guests staying at the facility. 7. It was very concerning about the transients in the area, definitely didn’t feel safe walking around the neighborhood. I wouldn’t recommend or return to this property in future.

Our room was great and the staff super helpful. Only issue was that one of the elevators was not working so made getting to a high floor room a challenge. The staff directed us to a service elevator which definitely helped ease congestion.

If I could rate this hotel zero stars I would. There’s no way it should be considered a premier hotel. For starters there was only one working elevator for a 14 floor building so many people like myself had to use the stairs because when the elevator would finally come to you it would be full. I was on the 6th floor and it was very inconvenient to have to go up and down every time to get to my room. The room looked like they shined up a turd, there was nothing nice about it. It smelled like someone had smoked in it before and you could hear everything through the walls and outside. It sounded like the window was open it was so loud during the night. The staff were not helpful or friendly and the pool looked like something from a motel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone especially considering it was 180$ a night.

Also, we had a fake fire alarm that caused us to run 5 stories at 11 PM

Convenient place to stay and very walkable to Little Italy. My only complaint is that the room was NOISEY! We faced to interchange and listened to cars and trucks all night. I'm not sure if it is lack of insulation or poorly insulated windows, but it was LOUD. The survival hint I would recommend is to turn on the AC (no matter the temp) and turn the fan to "on" so it runs constantly - the white noise helps.

Both of my beds had 2 big yellow stains i was curious about, my phone in my room did not work.

The hotel was in a great location that allowed us to walk almost everywhere! The room was very nice and there was breakfast available for purchase. Overall, we had a great experience in San Diego and at the Dextro!

1.) One out of the two elevators were working so the wait for the elevator was ridiculously long and people were packed in there like sardines. 2.) Thought the restaurant menu would have been larger, but there were only a few items to choose from. Overall, I'd definitely book again here.

Location is perfect. Walking distance to Little Italy and right off the freeway for all your other adventures. Payed but safe underground gated parking. Hotel is older but bed is comfy. AC unit is loud but tolerable.Has a small pool and pretty well equipped gym. Would most definitely stay here again for the value and location.

Staff was the best! Without the staff service a business is nothing. Everything else in the room was nice clean bed, clean restrooms, complete amenities that I needed which is not a lot. The price is a bit high however it is a clean nice hotel. I would come back.

We were pretty much in and out all weekend but it was very clean and seemed to have a lovely breakfast offered.

In the pictures it perceives a much better hotel and you get there and it was just so run down. Needs some work. The room we stayed in was a bay view it wasn’t bad. The parking situation was terrible. The angling of the whole parking structure was off because the hotel is in the size of a circle. One thing that I will say was excellent is the customer service!!

The property is right over the freeway with the airport close by. The windows were fantastic as you can't hear a single thing outside. The parking garage is small and to exit is confusing. The owner of the hotel does not own the parking garage. The cost is $35 a night. It was easy in and out. The staff was nice however there wasn't any service to the room while we were there.

Reserved a room with bay view and didn’t have a bay view. There is only one elevator for the whole place. Waited 15 minutes for an elevator in the am and the it stopped on every floor. Then it was too full so when it stopped people couldn’t even get in. It is in a decent location to get everywhere. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

It’s my first time in San Diego and I am so glad I chose this hotel! The staff here are amazing and helpful! My luggage was delayed but the staff here helped receive it. They are kind and warm. Will recommend to friends!

Check-In was a breeze. the staff was top notch. extremely helpful and kind. the room was clean and well stocked. beds were very comfortable. they have a bar there that serves males. the bartender was incredible breakfast which is only $20 was exceptional buffet. I enjoyed my stay very much and this will be my go-to hotel in San Diego

Super welcoming staff, fast elevators and in a great location, within easy walking distance to Little Italy and San Diego downtown, the harbour and transportation. But be sure to ask for a room that doesn’t face the highway like ours did. It was super noisy.

Great location. Easy to walk to the convention center and very close to a bunch of great restaurants in Little Italy. The breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful with any questions and were very nice and super friendly. The entire place was clean and had a good vibe overall. I would stay here again and I highly recommend it to anyone!

Hotel was clean, friendly, quiet, convenient parking ($35). Easy check in and check out . They do have a pool and fitness center. We had a room on the 12th floor. Everything was great. Close to petco park.

The room was very clean, no bugs, room included an ice container and items for coffee as well as the bible. Plenty of drawer space. Restroom had plenty of counter space to do makeup and the room itself had lots of plug ins. The room felt very safe and secure as you had to have certain keys to get to levels, etc… staff friendly and the counter had cold water to fill bottles and snacks for purchase. Wish they had a free breakfast but that’s ok I knew they didn’t going into my booking! 😊

I liked that it was easy to access off the fwy & that it was close to a lot of attractions. What I didn't like was that we were in the middle of a busy part of the city & lighting in the bathroom was dim. It was a very nice & modern bathroom, but if you're used to putting on your makeup & doing your hair in the bathroom, I hope you have good eyesight.

This hotel is conveniently located near Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the rooms are well-maintained.

Check in time was delayed until 6:30pm. Reservation stated check in was at 4pm.

The bed was very comfortable. Staff was super accomodating and the drinks at the bar were affordable and strong. A few minor issues like: the iron and ironing board were both broken and parking was terrible. All things were fixed when brought to the staffs attention so I would still recommend staying here.

The buffet breakfast offered is $20 a person- you’re better off walking to a cafe in the mornings. The “City view” room was not worth the price. Area was close to a handful of restaurants and a 35 min walk to Balboa Park. If you’re scared of homeless people on the streets don’t book this hotel. Rooms do not have microwaves and we had issues with our sink and toilet not flushing/draining properly. They fixed the sink but our toilet only fully flushed every other flush…weird and frustrating. I recommend renting a car, Ubers were pricey. There’s a small bar in the lobby which was great for a night cap drink. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my friends for what we paid. 7/10

Staff attending us, was so adamant about fixing this issue. It was almost implied that booking the travel thru Expedia wasn’t recommended by the hotel front desk. When asked to switch rooms due to the compressor issue, as mentioned above. Expedia should work with these partners to treat their guests equally, as it would have been if the reservation was made through the Hotel’s website. Expedia, please do a better job. Losing trust in the service.

The location is the best, super close to everything. 5 minutes away from MCRD if you’re planning to attend a Marine Graduation. Rooms were big & spacious, super clean & staff was lovely. Note - parking & breakfast are offered but NOT included in the reservation. Parking is $35/day and breakfast is at the on-site restaurant for $20/person. Either way still better than parking elsewhere or eating somewhere else. Would defintely stay here again.

It was hard to access and the rooms were in a circular building so the wind sounded like it was whipping around a lot like a train noise.

Looks like a weird location tucked right beside the freeway, but just a couple of minutes walk to Little Italy, so an excellent location overall. Nice views of the city, particularly from the top floor. I walked everywhere: Balboa Park, Little Italy, the waterfront. Easy Uber/Lyft from the airport. My top floor room was spacious and comfortable.

Breakfast better than others hotels, it was good. Lady from Philipines very nice and kind in restaurant. Location OK; easy to move but too much noise because is besides the freeway. Room is Ok but its not clean everyday, we stay 2 nights, it has to be requested but there is small message at the reception. Pool small Outside noise. Room no that big as photos. Pool not nice as photos.

Room was tidy and had a home-y feeling. However, I was unfortunately placed at a room near the freeway, and could hear cars roaming in and out during the night through the A/C vent system. Also, the hotel ADA entry door would have its motor rewind itself internally every now and then, making significant noise. Aside from that, this hotel is still a solid spot to stay at if you plan on staying in downtown San Diego.

Very unique building and great location. We chose to not pay for breakfast add-on for the full stay, but did do one morning. I would not do the breakfast again unless they improve on the offerings. The rooms are cozy, our room had some minor cosmetic issues that need to be addressed otherwise the say was good. This is located right off a freeway ramp, so great location. Staff was very responsive whenever we needed something. Would stay here again.

The hotel itself feels modern and comfortable, with clean rooms and friendly staff who made everything easy from check-in to check-out. Loved the city views and how close everything was—definitely a great choice for exploring San Diego!

The room I stayed in was an accessible room because that was all that was available. I had one bed and it was super comfortable for my three night stay. The room was clean and well kept. I could not hear any of my neighbors only when they closed the front door. My favorite part of the hotel was its proximity to everything in downtown San Diego. I was able to walk to Starbucks for breakfast and to little Italy for dinner, as well as quickly hop on the freeway when needed.

We stayed here because of the great reviews and they still exceeded our expectations. Every member of staff was 10 out of 10! Great attitudes, friendly, super helpful, and the rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Location was just close enough to uber everywhere within a few mins but not too close. The property felt safe and quiet and awesome views. I don’t even want to try staying anywhere but the Dextro! Thank you for the great experience! We will definitely be back!

Staff was amazing. very nice room. Mine was facing the bay, which was really nice. My only critique is that I was really looking forward to my room being clean when coming back from eating and running errands and it wasn’t I had to ask for fresh towels it was a little disappointing, cause I really like for my room to be clean when I’m gone, but everything else was amazing.

Check in was great…but all downhill from there. I booked this place based on ratings and was sorely disappointed. Small things like non-functioning power outlet, one packet of coffee to a dead phone. Typically don’t use room phone, but when awakened by loud partiers in the room above, I would’ve preferred to call the front desk but instead had to go down (in my pjs!). Only to be given earplugs and told “we’ll check but Fridays here are raucous!!” The hotel is situated near i5 so between the whooping and hollering and the traffic noise, an awful night’s sleep. If you’re coming to party this place is fine, but there are a lot of other hotels to choose from.

The room shower was stuck so we had to wait for someone to come that was on a break. Then 2 times on the middle of the night we had to call reception to ask the other guess in our floor to keep it quiet cause they where partying in the hallway at 3 am. Twice. We couldnt rest.

Everything was excellent

The first room they put us in was not what we had paid for which was supposed to be a king bed on top floor with city views. Instead they offered us a two double beds on the freeway side which was like sleeping on the freeway…almost. In the morning I tried to take a shower and only the hot and boiling hot water worked and could not turn the shower completely off, it was a constant dripping of water onto a metal plate so you can imagine the noise.

Loved the location and the staff was friendly, helpful. Never saw the “restaurant” open. But otherwise a great stay and would recommend.

The room was great; it was very clean. My only complaint is that the water in the shower wouldn't get very hot. Other than that, it was great, with a perfect view of the city.

I was extremely unhappy with the hotel. The internet didn’t work, and I was there for work, so I couldn’t get my job done. I complained to the lobby, they connected me with the internet provider (FOX), but they couldn’t fix it. I had to walk across the street to Starbucks to get my work done. Additionally, the staff was not friendly. I would never stay at Best Western again. On top of that, Expedia caused me a lot of problems. There was a glitch in their system, showing three itineraries. How could I have three hotels at the same time, checking in and out simultaneously, half a mile apart? I got charged and had to call five or six times, yet my issue still isn’t resolved. I’ve sent five emails and received no resolution. I will report this to the BBB and leave a bad review if no one gets back to me.

Dislikes: Parking was not sufficient even though we paid $37 for parking , parking space was very narrow. Our room was supposedly with bay view, but only a glimpse of bay from far distance and mainly the gas station view. Heater was not working, only making loud noises, called help desk but no one answered until 6 am. The person who answered my call at 6 am apologized to me in appropriate manner. Overall, we would not like return to this place in the future.

Room was small, restroom had a foggy sliding door that did not lock so you could see the silhouette of the person using the restroom & bed was too soft for my comfort. I woke up quite a few times bc of it. The room though was clean, mini fridge was a plus and $20/person breakfast buffet was definitely worth it. Food was delicious, fresh & staff was amazing, both in the lobby and in the buffet area.

Room was very small and triangular in shape. Overall OK, but the ceilings were supper low and it felt a bit claustrophobic at times, but we only stayed there for a night so no big deal. What is a big deal is the $30/night parking fee. Homeless seem to roam around the front entry making it a bit sketchy.

I was born and raised in San Diego. I was in San Diego this trip because my birth mother was placed into hospice care 16 December 2025. The last thing I needed on this trip was the added stress caused by the poor customer service I received. Do NOT ever stay here

The property was very exceptional, nice and clean environment. The staff were very friendly, and the general manager was super helpful and polite. Asked us if we need anything to find him personally. Room was clean with comfortable bed. View facing the habor is interesting.Outdoor facilities is well coming, nice sitting area. There is an adequate gymn, with treadmill , benche and various free weights, all and all fantastic to get a good workout. Staff are courteous and polite. I would stay again.. lastly the place is close to public transportation, metro train and the busses.

Modern Smallest rooms

We had a very comfortable stay in this hotel. The location was convenient enough to walk to the city center every day. The staff was very helpful, and the rooms were cleaned daily. Excellent value for the price. Highly recommended. Nothing major, it was generally good. If I could change anything: - Add more bedside outlets. - Add ceiling lighting to the rooms. - The translucent sliding bathroom door is an interesting choice, to say the least. I'd much rather have a regular door instead.

Room was old and just fine. The waitress of breakfast was excellent in service. But the manager, as checked in, questioned our booking of breakfast included. After showing the booking confirmation, he then accepted. Their system did not have correct booking information.

Centrally located hotel in the Little Italy area. Rooms are big and well appointed. Staff is always on hand and very friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Deposit is $150. Parking for 24hrs is $35. If u want to extend the parking for another day it’s $70 more ? Ridiculous parking prices im glad I only stayed for one night.

Excellent bedding, with the most comfortable bed and pillows I have experienced in a hotel. Everything was clean, up to date, safe, and each staff member was so kind and welcoming. Good for a quick stay

Enjoyed my stay, the cozy bar in the lobby was great to relax in the evenings, staff was excellent. My only complaint would be the breakfast - it was over-priced at $20 and the food was rather cold. Most hotels include breakfast with their room rate, and if they want to charge for it, $8 or $10 would be more appropriate.

My room was extremely clean and well taken care of. The general manager (Vebi) was very friendly and helpful. The bartender was extremely personable and overall the staff was kind and willing to help me with directions and information on things to do in there neighborhood. San Diego was a beautiful city to visit and I highly recommend staying at the Dextro Hotel.

I reserved a king room got a queen handicap room. breakfast was an additional fee and very limited. When registering there was no parking fees upon arrival was informed 50$/day parking. Staff were friendly and informative. Hotel was well kept.

I didnt have breakfast or utilize any of the on site facilities so cant comment on those. A couple of things though ive was only available on the 2nd floor and we were on the 15th fl although they had a machine on th 16th floor which wasnt working. The phone in the room didnt work asked front desk to look at it but no one came. The water pressure was not great either and in room ac unit was loud.

The hotel seems like it was renovated recently. it was for me a 7/10. the bathroom shower floor was a little dirty/stained and the water pressure was pretty bad (low). We did not use the bar or breakfast so i cant comment on that. parking is available on site in a secure area. it was only a ten minute walk to little italy!

Truly one of my worst property stays. The bathroom fan didn’t work and when it did, it turned on at 4am and made the worst loudest noise I’ve heard and I could not sleep. The property is placed in a weird section so you can’t safely walk anywhere. The parking garage cost me over 150$ for my 5 day stay which was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever paid. Front desk people could not answer my questions and didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing half of the time. Would not book here. I try not to complain but I hope you save your money.

Had to pay $35 a night for parking and the spots were so tiny and hard to navigate for mid-size and bigger vehicles. Very limited dining in area. No hot tub with pool. Value of what you received for price was average; nothing set the property apart to make it special or a good value.

It was centrally located,. I had private car and they had parking in. It was perfect for me, the rooms were comfortable and clean. Pretty view.
