It was clean enough and the location was great. Front staff was not there when I got there and I had to wait to check in which was an inconvenience.

I didn’t see that you MUST contact the motel 24 hrs before your reservation even though I HAD A RESERVATION; therefore our room was not ready by the 3pm check in time when we arrived. We were told we had to wait up to 40 minutes after for them to ready the room or we could take a room with smaller beds and no price adjustment. The desk clerk was not helpful nor did she seem to care. Fortunately while we were deciding what to do there was a shift change and Rebeca got us a room the size we paid for and was very friendly. And did advise us it was a handicapped room with a roll in shower. We didn’t realize that would be a problem until we showered and there was a river on the bathroom floor. It flooded both days that we used the shower. Mopping up the floor in a $200 room was not pleasant. The motel was very close to the beach which was great; however the room itself was old and in need of remodeling (see pics) . It was clear this motel was renovating some rooms, hopefully this one is next. It was very quiet which was a nice surprise. Overall I don’t think it was worth the price unless you are staying several nights and need beach access.

The location was amazing. Very short walk to the beach. We had a "bungalow" room which was very big with an awesome shower. We would definitely stay there again! We had absolutely no complaints about our stay.

We’ve been staying here for years and it was reasonably priced and clean. Beach is half a block away and the parking is included in the price. We stayed here this week and it is no longer reasonable price wise and they were renovating the property so there was not ample parking and it was noisy because of renovations. The property is worn down so it needs renovation but our room was small and run down and not reasonably priced so I will be looking elsewhere when I visit relatives in San Diego.

So the first time I stayed here it was very nice. Parking is hard to find always. However, this time I stayed. There were no plugs, refrigerator did not work, air conditioning did not work. They offered to switch my room however it was late in the evening and we had dinner reservations. Also I went to get ice and no bag for the ice bucket. Really. No bags in the room for your laundry. Construction I was not aware of. So half the parking was taken and very loud in the morning. I think they should have to tell you on the app. I will be looking for a new place to stay. The pool is advertised as heated. It is not heated. Dirty all around the pool and old nasty furniture. It’s not lie this room is super cheap.

The room was excellent! The Beach was very close, excellent location and close to a huge Variety of Bars and Restaurants. Definitely Will be back! 😎

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very basic rooms, perfect for the surfer (or anyone!) looking for a landing pad. Can’t beat the price for location and ease to the beach.

Rooms need renovating. Toilet not secured to the floor. Water leaked all over the counter from handle of faucet when water was turned on in the sink. Staff was friendly, but really no amenities to speak of. Vending machines down the hall we’re quite expensive. Swimming pool was one block away at a sister hotel. Would not stay here again and would not recommend. The only positive was the location, one block away from the ocean.

We arrived and the floor we were place on was under construction. Loud music, banging etc. the room was so bad. Mold, broken floors, dirty, the toilet wasn’t attached to the floor, the sink didn’t work, plumbing didn’t work correctly, A/C didn’t work, fridge didn’t work. No clock, no phone in the room… I could go on but I was shocked for what we paid for this room. We asked for another room and were told none were available but if we left they’d refund the remainder of our stay (4 more days). We arranged with VRBO and they agreed to the refund as well but after leaving and settling else where PB Surf refused the refund. This room was not safe or livable. It should have been included in the remodels and not been rented. Absolutely disgusting in so many ways. Only benefit was the location.

The beach was steps from the hotel! Although there was no balcony the proximity to the beach was worth it

Arrived an hour after check in & room wasn’t ready. They gave us an ADA room because they didnt have a king size bed available due to the construction

Stayed for 4 nights with my 2 adult sons and daughter in the double bed room. The staff was able to find a cot for one of the siblings to sleep on for an extra $10 a night that worked out great. Very close to the ocean but have to walk 2 blocks to get to the beach. Not a big deal since the walk way was always bustling with people and I like to people watch. They have a pool but it was at their sister hotel 1 block away. That wasn’t mentioned on Expedia or at least a didn’t see it. Regardless, we didn’t even go to the pool because we were at the beach everyday. Parking was fine except one night I had to find parking on the street because spots were all taken. Not a lot of time spent in the hotel except to change clothes and sleep. All and all we had a great time!

Great access to the beach. The room was clean. Everything was good. The lady who checked us in and out at the front counter was amazing. The parking was great. We parked right next to our room and kept the spot all three days. You could see the beach from the upstairs balcony. The bathroom is small, but so are we so it was fine. For the price, we were very pleased. I have to mention the pool. It's at their sister property one block away. Very basic. Small, no spa, and not heated like they claimed. It was not open when we got there a few minutes after 10 even though the sign said it opened at 9. The lady at that front counter needs to take a lesson from the lady at the front counter of our Inn. She was not pleasant and acted put out when I asked to have it opened up. Otherwise, nothing but positive for the three days we were there.

Our room was nice and clean the outside of the property was in disarray. Parking was difficult and there is no pool on site. Several inconvenient blocks is a pool you can use. There was no BBQ on site either.

Checked in and checked out within 20 minutes. Dirty, smelled of mold, roach in room. Moved to another room. Just as bad. Old, ripped furniture. Stained rug. So disappointed as it is in a great location. Couldn’t leave there fast enough.

Arrived to find the whole place under major construction. Was initially given a tiny room under the stairs next to the office, that smelled heavily of mildew and had banging from construction directly overhead. Was moved to a different room only after a long discussion with a rude and unhelpful staff person. The new room had less noise, but no overhead lights and only one small lamp, so had to use my phone light. On our second afternoon of a 3-night stay, we found there was absolutely no hot water. Let the staff know and they said they'd send someone to fix it. It was not fixed until the next morning, but was out again by that evening and never fixed, so we had to take ice-cold showers. Additionally, the advertised pool is not on or even near the property; it's a block away. The room was also never cleaned or serviced during our stay, so we had to go ask at the desk when we needed towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc. Overall, this was a deeply terrible stay at a very high price point.

Stayed here recently and had a great experience! The place was super clean, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the room was even better than the pictures online. Everything you need is within walking distance—great food, drinks, and the beach just minutes away. Definitely recommend!

Steps from the beach! Huge plus! Family of four, we got a basic two queen room, which was clean. A/C worked well. Bathroom was small (not a big deal), but the shower was big, which is great. Water pressure great. My older kids enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard to chill outside. Not a big chain hotel, but they're clearly working on providing good rooms as I noticed a few rooms were going through a remodel process. Would stay here again.

Was pleasantly surprised with the room (104) - recently renovated with modern touches which was very nice. The exterior is dated and the parking situation is terrible. The hotel is truly in close proximity to the beach and everything.

Checked into an uncleaned room. Then had no parking, despite my parking pass. Then was checked in to a new room with a clean bed but the shower trickled and did not get hot.

So awful. Do not stay. Was ridiculously priced for what you got. The room stank, like seriously terrible smell. Location is good but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. I paid $390 for one of the grossest places I’ve stayed and I stay in a lot of hostels around the world. Don’t do it.

Our room smelled horrible as if someone puked, and then they over cleaned it with bleach, only a very small window in the shower to open, stepping into the shower it smelled even worse! We told the front desk staff, and after she finished her calls on her headphones in Spanish? Not sure if it was work related? Kind of awkward... but, she let us go look at the only other available room which was next to construction (like 10 workers hammering and banging around) walked in that room and it smelled just as bad... but more moldy/musty. We ended up leaving because we couldnt stand the smell of either room. The front desk girl was understanding and kind about it. Also no mention of the pool? Did not see it nearby? Also property very run down (I'm assuming that's why there's construction? Maybe they are remodeling?) But, i felt like the photos did not match what we saw/experienced.)

Our only complaints have been that the bed wasn’t as soft as we both personally like and they were renovating all the rooms next to us. But other than that everyone was super polite and friendly and we loved how close everything was. The room itself was very clean, easy to find everything and the sounds of the ocean were nice to hear at night. The shower was very spacious and anytime we needed towels they were very fast! Just overall very nice experience. Definitely will stay here again when we visit PB

Good price for the area. Very close to the beach just a short walk away from the stores / restaurants. I’d say it is fine for a 1 day stay. Our room was fine but the bathroom was moldy and smelt of mold really bad. It was obvious they are remodeling a lot of the rooms but we got an old one.

And for being along Mission Blvd, it was fairly quiet at night. In our previous stays we were in a room with a small breakfast nook. We were in a smaller room this time and missed that extra amenity. We did notice that the toilet in our room kept running. And the parking lot is pretty tight; when large vehicles are parked there it can be nerve-wracking to navigate out.

Check in was right on time and the attendant was friendly. there was ample parking chairs need to be changed out, could use a more comfortable chair instead of high tops for reading and meditation. my showers did not have soap. the surge pricing for the weekend was totally unwarranted as there were rooms available as well as at the sister location

the location Everything was broken! The lights, the mirror, the bathroom door wasn’t locking. The mirrors were not clean, the bed had stains on it and hairs were literally everywhere like on our pillows, the toilet paper!!! The towels!! The location was great that it was in pb but I honestly don’t think I could’ve stayed here longer than one night.

This issue and all they told me was that they let the maintenance man know and he would fix it soon. However, it never got fixed and I needed to go the office every time I needed to be let into my room so they could use their master key to let me in. Overall , very inconvenient

Awesome location right around the corner from the beach and shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and check-in was super easy. The only thing I will say, they do not have a pool on their property. You have to walk a few blocks down to another hotel to use the pool. Also, they only give you two very thin blankets on the bed. Very good for the price I will say!

It was an OK place to sleep but the beds are hard and the fit and finish of the place Is lacking. It's an older hotel that's been remodeled on a low budget. But the location made up for it. We will stay there again!

I called the front desk multiple times to report the excessive noise and it never ceased. The noise was so loud. The room was very run down. Lights not working/burned out, wallpaper ripped and torn on the wall, doorhandles falling off. I will never be staying at this hotel again.

We were there from Friday to Monday and no one from housekeeping cleaned our room, emptied the trash or offered us fresh towels the entire time! We have been staying here for a number of years but will be looking for somewhere else next time!

The room was not as advertised when I ask about it she said to call you then finally she after I told her about the room I had before she offered another room for 30 dollars a night more the two women were not polite I will just say you are only paying for location noting else I will never return to this motel again!!!!

The staff was very helpful and accomodating when I needed to extend my stay. Location is fabulous and the property is welcoming. It's not fancy, but a great choice if you want a casual spot close to the beach. I will be back.

The most disappointing thing is probably the TV being so old mine didn’t have any streaming services and the normal TV channels (the screen itself) was so grainy that I didn’t bother. If youre someone who likes to come back to your hotel room at the end of the night and flick on some TV I wouldn’t recommend this spot. And the wifi was offered but was so slow I ended up using my cell data anyway. As a female solo traveler the layout of the hotel rooms aren’t particularly the safest as anyone can walk up to your room door. In saying that the room was clean and house keeping was offered whilst I was there. The location was pretty good. And the staff were friendly so no complaints there!

The room had a foul odor and a huge cockroach was crawling in the bathroom. The office staff was not friendly at all. Upon arriving I was asked for ID & Credit Card without hearing a please or thank you.

The Inn is a no frills place to stay that is very clean and is close to everything if you’re looking for a fun PB vacation.

The biggest plus is that its close to the beach. The outside area was nice to have since there was no table in the room. The downsides were the carpet was wet when we got there and was wet the entire time. The rooms were decent and they dont have their own pool, its at the sister property.

The check in person was super nice, and the stay was lovely.

We enjoyed the property because it was so close to the beach. Our room was right by the street, so it would get noisy at times.

I had a great stay at PB Surf Beachside Inn! The location is unbeatable — just steps from the beach, coffee shops, and great spots to eat. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a quick getaway. The staff was welcoming and made check-in easy. I especially loved being able to walk out the door and catch the sunset on the beach within minutes. Perfect spot if you want a laid-back, beach-town vibe at a reasonable price. I’ll definitely stay here again!

we stayed two nights and the first one was a 5/5 but the second night there was a drunk guy beating on the door next to us for over 2 hours and no one ever did anything about it

Nothing about this property was good. Roaches in the room. All shower handles/door handles were loose. Staff was very rude. Stayed 2 nights. After the 1st night, the cleaning lady entered my room and tries to make me leave. She wanted to argue with me about their mistake. Fruit was to be provided for breakfast. Informed they were still waiting on management to bring it. Not enough parking. Had to park a block away at a different hotel and walk back where all homeless come at you asking for a cigarette or money. Much nicer places to stay for the same or less money.

I like the convenance of location to beach. Clean sheets and towels. No cold water in the shower or sink. The room was hot. It took hours to cool down.

Unfortunately the hotel is not well taken care of. Room floor was incredibly dirty and the courtyard is crowded by people smoking all the time of the day and the night.

I was completely disgusted with my first room and they moved me to a better room but not by much. Like someone smoked an ashtray and turned on the AC full blast. Idk who these people reviewing these things but they have a low bar. Location is its best trait. I’ll never stay here again though. Dirty, dirty, dirty everywhere! Gross!

The area is excellent! You’re literally steps away from the beach. Rooms are super clean!!! But the rooms are a bit outdated. The hotel itself is really cute.

The location can't be beat.A block from beach and a lot of drink and dining options nearby. The room was beyond tiny. Bathroom was a box and guests and property was loud. The sister property (Pacific Shores Inn) a block away, (where you have pool access as it is not on the property as advertised) offered a free night stay past 3 nights and accommodations looked much more spacious.

I was opted onto a Lux charge of appx 49.00 and did not receive any luxury amenities. Can I seek a refund?

This was a perfect stay and we got what we expected from the reviews and the price. We did not have any issues finding a parking spot; it was great that it was included. Small annoyances in the room like a sticky bathroom door but overall would stay here again for the location!

Office staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms are outdated, especially for the price. Soap dispensers in shower empty. Great location, close to the beach. It wasn't a bad stay, but definitely over priced for what you get.

Being just three or so blocks from the beach and promenade is the greatest asset of this property. The staff happily accommodated my request for a ground floor room. Plenty of dining options in walking distance. There is very limited parking on the property. Room was very small and did not have a chair or even a small desk. That would keep me from returning.

Rooms are clean. Old pipes leaves smell in bathroom. Housekeeping really good about trying to help out the situation. Parking can be difficult. Not quiet due to traffic on street and floor above you.

The rooms have NOT been renovated like it states on website, smells of sewage, no lighting whatsoever in rooms, (even the lighting around the vanity mirror didn’t work)the bed is uncomfortable with minimal linens. Mind you we were upgraded 3 times in the first hour of arrival and these were still the problems we encountered. When we complained to front desk their solution was to tell us to make the best of it, buy candles to light the room and they came and sprayed the shower with air freshener in hopes to help with the sewage smell. They also offered me their bathroom in the office to get ready for an event I had that evening because my bathroom was so poorly lit. To think I was supposed to gather my makeup and toiletries and head down to their office bathroom! We paid 750.00 for two nights up front through Expedia and all that was refunded was 200.00. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ ON EXPEDIA and for sure stay clear of this property

Nice place, great location

We've come to this property for years but on our most recent visit, it was disappointing to see that it has not been well-maintained at all. Big crack in the sink, toilet that barely flushed, wall paper peeling off the wall, terribly hard uncomfortable mattress, not enough blankets or pillows. It really felt like camping. I will not be back sadly.

Tried to check in early 30 mins. Room wasn't available. She checked me in and will call when ready. No call Came back at 4pm and keys were on hold. Room never got cold because ac is directly facing the closet. Bathroom smelled like moldy rusted metal. Never staying at this hotel again

Got room upgraded to neighboring motel

Check-in was later than I was told, room had no table, or chair. People were walking past my window yelling into my room, cars along the street were extremely loud in my room, front desk receptionist was extremely rude, and cussed me out at 6am in the morning when I asked them to stop the people from screaming in the room above me.

Property manager was able to accommodate our needs with the room. It’s our 3-4 stay at this hotel. Just a walk away from the beach.

The hotel was clean, strong smell of bleach-had to air out room. Room very small and dated. Looked nothing like the pictures online. Asked for ice machine and its a blick away on another property. Hotel was conveniently located to beach and restaurants, once we found a tight parking spot we didnt have to move car all weekend.

The people who work the front were as helpful and warm as day old toast. It was also lame that the didn't provide free coffee at both locations. It was served only at the other property. Our room smelled bad, and was barely cleaned. However, the location was great!

They were able to put me in another room because they had me in a third floor room and no elevator. Parking was down the street at another hotel. No ice machine unless you walked to the other hotel down the street. No one said it wasn’t working until you asked should have been disclosed when checking in. The room was in a hallway with no view except the wall or alley.

Parking was terrible here. They told me if I couldn’t find parking I could park at their sister property a block or more away. When I asked if I could park in a certain spot they said “idk “ LOL. Just ridiculous

Love staying here cause its just a short walk to Pacific Beach without having to cross a major street. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. I will definitely be back again soon!

We stay at this hotel every year, we usually have a great experience but this time around it wasn’t the best. We got to our room after checking in and the room smelled musty/mildewy. The floors were dirty and sticky. There are no amenities but we love the proximity to the beach.

I wanted to give five stars due to the location, the staff's welcoming attitudes, and how clean they kept it, but having only one sink in the main hallway for most of the guests to use was more inconvenient and awkward than expected.

It was amazing! There were a few issues when checking in, but nothing that the sweet desk clerk couldn’t handle. The walls are thin, and my neighbor needed a CPAP, but you can’t beat the location. I loved being two blocks from beach access and the lock bench!!

The walking distance to local restaurants, bars and beaches are so convenient. The parking is included yet very snug for trucks and suvs. Beach towels are available upon request at the front desk. Bathroom has clean towels, shampoo & conditioners on the wall in the shower, soap bars provided smells great. Neighbors are very respectful. The staff are very professional. The snack machines available next to the ice maker. Bring your own bags for ice. Highly recommend this place. Thank you we had a wonderful experience.

Could not find parking at the hotel

Motel is in an ideal location to enjoy what PB has to offer, beach, bars & dining.

Good location for wonderful walks on the beach. Parking is not guaranteed; only downside. My family lives down the street so it is a great place for us to stay.

The lady at the front desk wasn’t friendly. Spider webs everywhere and not to mention in the bed. Left a day early couldn’t even spend another night because of that and the room smelt like bleach the whole time. It was muggy bleach smelling. Felt like I wasted money on the room and should have went somewhere else. Honestly want a refund for the whole experience. Walls are so thin you can hear people constantly talking at the late hour of the night and couldn’t sleep. I would never come back.

The location cannot be beat. Half block to Pacific Beach and restaurants bars and coffee shops. No daily maid service and no food service at hotel site, hotel is a little tired. Great price for a clean hotel with friendly staff. There is some street noise but you need to expect that when you're in a busy part of town.

Staff was amazing! I forget her name but the female receptionist who was working with dark hair on Friday went above and beyond for me and my mom while we were here. Location is perfect, not in too busy or crowded of an area but next to the boardwalk and all the restaurants and shops

I’m already familiar with this hotel and area and it’s a great little place tidy and steps from the beach.

The only negative point is that there is no cutlery or just 1 plate and bowl set to eat from, apart from that the place is great and I'd stop there again

Upkeep wasn’t the greatest for the price but convenient location. 2 minute walk from the beach and within a 10 min walk from multiple dinning options, grocery store, clothing stores.

Nice place for a getaway. The room we stayed in needs a lot of upgrades, for example the mattress, the mattress is very uncomfortable and you could feel the springs. Carpet needs to be cleaned, a lot of stains and the mini fridge was leaking oh and pillows were to flat.

This was an amazing little beach side hotel. The front desk was extreme friendly and helpful. We also loved how close it was to the beach and so many lovely cafes and restaurants. It was clean and roomy.
