Reviews
Guests generally enjoy the hotel's location, decor, and staff friendliness. The rooftop pool and bar area, as well as the restaurants, are also highly praised. However, hidden service fees, expensive parking, and noise from the bar and music are common complaints. Some guests also mention issues with room cleanliness and maintenance.
- Great location and access to local attractions
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Hidden service fees and expensive parking
- Noise from bar and music, especially for rooms near the pool area

Stayed there for a conference, great choice

Hotel location is perfect! Walked everywhere. Hotel only offers valet parking which is really expensive. There are self parking garages and lots around. Had issues with the AC. kids loved the pool. Pool was pretty small for the amount of people at the pool so go early if you want seating or rent a cabana. Room directly in front of us has their smoke detector going at about 2am. Woke us all up including others on the floor. The alarm was going for some time. Husband went out to check and we were surprised there were no hotel staff there to make sure everything was ok. We would have thought with how loud the alarm was and how long it was going there would have been someone there to let the floor know it’s nothing to worry about. That was a little concerning for us. What if it was an emergency? Turns out the neighbors were smoking in their room.

The bathrooms could use more detail cleaning. Found several hairs in various places in the bathroom. Fridge was dirty. We did not use Housekeeping services during our stay but was accommodated when we requested fresh towels. More attention would be recommended to deep cleaning on the rooms.

Hotel is located in a lively area that gets busy on the weekends. Lots of restaurants within a stone's throw. Convention center a short walk away. Room was a good size; the sofa offered a comfortable alternative to the bed as place to lounge and relax. Cleaning staff and concierge were friendly. Front desk not so much. Glass dispenser offering cold refreshing water in the lobby a real plus, as is the separate water dispenser (near restrooms) to refill water bottles. Breakfast at the attached Landshark Bar and Grill was pretty decent (we got a $60 food and drinks credit for our stay). Breakfast not included in price; there are breakfast joints nearby btw. Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay, The pool area was nice but not very big. Had trouble finding a place to sit during happy hour. Pool looks bigger in the photos. Bar and pool staff were not particularly friendly but maybe that was just a one off thing. Some noise and pounding bass could be heard from the street on weekend nights but didn't bother us as we were tired and jet-lagged.

The property was clean and decorated very nice. Rooms was spacious. Restaurants on site. 1. No one told me that I had a $15 food credit a day until I checked my reservation. I had to ask about it. 2. Tv stopped working on day two. 3. The water pressure is so low in the shower and sink that you feel like you didn’t even take a shower. Told them about it at check out because we come in late and there was no one at the desk. They said that they would refund some money back, that never happened. They told me that there’s no note on that and there was nothing wrong with the TV. Of course they would say that. Very disappointed with such a popular hotel brand. I’m glad my stay was only 2 nights.

The room was super clean and the decoration was very nice. The location was very convenient to all the places I need to visit. It was a comfortable stay for a business trip.
- 5/5
Did not like the forty dolar amenity fee added on.
- 4/5
The location was in the centre of the Gaslamp area which was fantastic to get around. It’s around the corner from the baseball stadium which is ideal if you plan to go to a game, which we did! Great fun and really recommend. Pool was good, always got a sun lounger but feel if the hotel was busier it may be tricker to get a sun lounger. We had a great time. Beds are SOOOO comfy! Room was a nice size and spacious! I wouldn’t say there was anything we didn’t like. Just a note that they take a security charge whilst you stay which is a $125 PER NIGHT which is not stated anywhere on booking.com so just be aware of that if booking(We stayed 5 nights = $625). It gets refunded on departure but still something to keep in mind - most hotels is USA do it.

Very well located hotel in the Gaslamp area of Downtown San Diego, very close to PetCo Park for the Padres games and many restaurants and bars. The hotel's Landshark bar was also nice for a drink in the afternoon. The rooftop pool looked fun (although I didn't use it) and the gym was well equipped. 20 - 30 mins walk to the USS Midway; a bit longer to Balboa Park. Nothing I didn't like. The hotel feels like it is a much older hotel that has recently been refreshed (which is fine) but it is not the most luxurious if that is what you are after. With hindsight, I would not have paid the headline rates before the reductions.

The location right in the gaslamp quarter which is full of bars and restaurants. It was also close to the marina. The hotel is nicely decorated and clean. Room are nice too. Good value for money especially for San Diego. Parking is valet at 70 dollars per day which seems like a rip off especially as there is a public parking nearby (unfortunately we only discovered this after!).

I loved the everything about the property except being blindsided with a $70 a night charge fo parking which I think is excessive and should have been made known in advance.

Good location close to a lot of restaurants and bars. And you’re close to the ocean for activities down there as well. Also, you’re close to the stadium if you like baseball. I don’t like what hotels are doing nowadays with Resort fees and parking situation. The amount they charge is ridiculous when you’re spending a lot for a room staying at the hotel.

I liked the decor and how nice everything was. It was a really nice hotel with nice activities. I did not like how we had to pay for parking. Parking for the day was $70, which can add up quick! When I booked the room it said there was a parking garage but it didn’t say anything about paying for it. Sucks

My family and I ate a late lunch in the restaurant and it was delicious. We had a Turkey club, the fish tacos, and Caesar salad all were excellent! Only complaint is the coffee in the Coffee Shop. I’m a coffee snob but even if I wasn’t, it was the weakest coffee. I decided to give it a second chance the next day and ended up adding two shots, an extra regular and a decaf. Still watery! The pool area is very nice but you need to go about 11-noon for a spot. I enjoyed my stay while visiting family in the area. I would stay again.

We had a great time, the Hotel is really beautiful. Loved the decorations and the vibe of the bar. However, when I checked in, I was not happy to learn parking was 70 per day, plus 35 amenities, and a 375.00 deposit for the room. The high price for parking and 35.00 extra a day for amenities? It was money I did not plan on spending. I feel those fees are very high and should be included when booking the room, and parking should not have an amenities charge attached when paying 70.00 a day.

This was my second stay at a Margaritaville hotel and loved it both times (Nashville & San Diego). The hotel has a resort feel which I love. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean and the location was amazing. I would highly recommend!

This place turned out to be better than I expected. We got the premium king corner (Spa) room. It was newly renovated and clean. Loved the huge tub in the bathroom. The pillows and bed were very comfortable. I’m the type to bring my own pillow because I’m picky, but their pillows were terrific!

How close it was to Petco field. The room had a funny smell you could smell when you walked in. The shower door did not shut all the way so there was water all over the floor after you showered. The couch was not very comfortable that was in the room. We did ask for housekeeping to come back one day because we were still getting ready for the day and they said they would but never did.

Great location right in the middle of the Gaslamp quarter. The decor throughout the hotel is also very nice and unique. Our room also had a decent view of the rooftop area so we could listen to the live music from there in the afternoons. Parking is pricey at $70/night but that seems to be the going rate in this area. Our room’s sink in 723 had no pressure so the water only trickled out. The toilet also only flushed about 50% of the time.

- 4/5
Location was great. It was our anniversary so we eat out. The room was nice. Employees at check in were really nice. The hotel was clean. We traveled with our pet. We had to pay $125.00 for our dog which is quite high from other hotels.. The Valet was an additional $70.00, there was an additional fee of $45.00, but they said that was for the water in our room and complimentary margaritas. (I don't think there complimentary if I just paid $45.00) it just felt like we were nickel and dimed. All in all we spent $455.00 when we could have spent less at other hotel near by. One more thing, at 7:00 I was looking for a snack and was told the snack place closes at 6:00?

Everything. Awesome bright decorations. Location in Gaslamp District with nearby restaurants and bars plus the proximity to Petco Park was perfect. 5 O Clock Somewhere Rooftop Bar was lots of fun with great views. We could hear the people in the connecting room. Parking is expensive. We found offsite parking using a third party app.

The restaurant at the hotel was great. The 5 o’clock somewhere restaurant in the pool area had a condensed menu and offered tasty options. I ended up finding a nearby parking lot rather than paying the $70 a night at the hotel. Great location. Will definitely come back.
- 5/5
Great Experience, super fun place to relax!
- 5/5
Staff was courteous and always smiling. Property was lovely, beachy feel downtown. Fun and lively area. Nights were quite. Street parking was ample. Walkable to bars, restaurants and coffee.
- 4/5
Room was clean and spacious, staff was helpful and the restaurant was good. The pool is a great depth for kiddos and we utilized late checkout to accommodate for our port arrival time for our cruise.
- 3/5
Overall, it was ok. Food was good, service was average to bad and pool not managed well. Clearly not a customer obsessed organization. I would stay elsewhere next time I go to SD.
- 4.5/5
Convenient location - just in the Gaslamp. Great room, comfy beds, all clean! They have a pool - small-ish, but good to refresh and just rest. Saw some reviews mentioning homeless - saw ~5 in the whole downtown and area around hotel was quite clean. A bit pricy parking, but you can find cheaper parking couple blocks away.
- 4/5
The burgers were great. Overall cute hotel.
- 3/5
Beautiful, clean ! Very pricey !! Staff we just not very helpful or knowledgeable on questions basic.
- 3/5
The hotel itself is nice. Please be aware of parking fees are $70 a night. Also be aware of the Fiji water that they put in your room is $10. Also, the resort fees are $49 a night. For those who might not be aware of those fees, I just wanna be straight up about them so you are not blindsided like I was. The hotel and the staff were amazing and they are very accommodating. Our stay was nice. The hotel was very busy due to a conference so it was hard to get hot water for showers. There were days where we had to do cold showers.
- 1/5
The showers had mold and soap scum on the bottom fo the doors. There were hairs in the tub. There was significant dirt and dust and hairs behind the bed, above the bed on the headboard (dont detach ew) and it didnt look as though a vacuum or cleaning had been don in quite some time. we left early

- 5/5
We needed a place to stay last minute went on Hotels.com found this gem of a place right in the middle of the gaslamp District. Parking was a little pricey $75 for 24 hours but they did aloud In & Out all day so I guess it did not bad. Other than that, everything was great.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel great location
- 5/5
Everything was great better than expected. Water pressure in the bathroom was bad
- 5/5
Often hotel room hairdryers are not very powerful, but this one was great! there was even a little device to play white noise or relaxing music if you can't sleep. There was a nice roof top pool and bar - this did not disturb me at all as the window cut out all noise. The towels were nice and there were plenty of them. Really comfortable and well equipped room
- 4/5
Area was great, room was clean but staff was very slow. At the restaurant we would wait 30+ minutes for a drink and we left twice waiting to be seated. Also it closes much to early. Same experience at the pool. Slow service and very small pool and extremely limited seating. No organized activities for adults or kids. Overall it was a pleasant hotel however. Bathroom soap dispensers were not working well and sink was very worn out but very clean.

Nice and clean property. Conveniently located downtown and walking distance to do much to do. Pricier side of the spectrum, but I get it.
- 5/5
This place was FUN! It was clean and comfortable and the staff was terrific...very helpful. And the decorations were perfect. We didn't use the pool this time but the area looked inviting. It's also walking distance to Petco Stadium and many eateries, although we ate at the hotel restaurant twice and enjoyed it.
- 5/5
Central location, we used public transit or walked where we needed to go. Pool was a little cold, but warmed up in the sun. Gym had a peloton bike, which was a bonus! Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay again!

- 4/5
Nice hotel but windows so filthy outside made the room dark. Poor service at breakfast but it did taste nice
- 5/5
Poolside was great. Only open Wed-Sun FYI in off season. The happy hour was great as well
- 2.5/5
it was significant hiden cost called amenities fee. they charged us extra $35 per night for this.
- 3/5
Mediocre hotel. Good concept but you can tell it’s a pretty old property that they tried to rebrand. Front desk staff gave me incorrect info about restaurant hours, coffee maker didn’t work and after multiple attempts to request a new one both days , still no luck. Hopefully others have a better experience.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, loved the pool.
- 5/5
Pool was great. Unfortunately the pool bar/restaurants were not open until 4pm.
- 5/5
Wonderful experience! Great location, easy to find and near restaurants and clubs! Keep striving for perfection!
- 5/5
Property was great well kept very clean but full bar was never open until 4 o’clock or after restaurant located downstairs was only open till 11 for breakfast and they closed until four so getting a margaritas at Jimmy Buffett. Margaritaville was almost impossible. Definitely a drawback to staying at this property. Other than that everything was great.
- 5/5
Welcoming staff through our stay.
- 3/5
The room was big and airey, I paid extra for a corner unit. The area around the hotel is nice in the day but at night … its not so nice, homeless, drunk people.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Close to convention center
- 2/5
Clean well designed. Great location Mostly the constant gouging of promotion that came prior to checking in. At least 10 emails …All under the guise of “enhancing our experience “. They were nothing but attempts to up charge. We got there 2 hour prior to 4pm check-in on a Monday. Our room was ready, but they tried to squeeze another $45 out of us to check in early. The rooftop bar was closed…because it was Monday. Closed with a $40 “room amenities fee” Added to the bill, I assume that was for soap?? Curtains?? I thought the Booking.com price was the price…I guess it’s not so. Also $70 to park overnight with no self parking option seems quite grubby as well.
- 4/5
the decorations, the pool area, close to convention center. the receptionist staff, did not tell me about the coffee house, and i feel that was a huge missing, we went out looking for coffee, never left the hotel on that side of the building. Seems that a directory / map could be handed out or have a book of services offered. The coffee cafe was discovered the last day and it is amazing, so I was very dissappointed to find out on the last day.

Friendly staff. Cool vibe

Amazing above and beyond front desk staff led by Dylan Hemmila. He coordinated our room to be decorated for my wife's birthday along with flower arrangements to be placed in the room upon delivery, with the help of a great friendly staff, from the beginning of our stayand throughout. A must stay when in San Diego! Thank you Dylan and Team Margaritaville!

The rooms are fine and the cleaning staff 10/10. The furniture in the 2 queen/double room is way too big for the room size. You had to request a fridge if you want one. They waste space with a “beverage cooler” that absolutely does not cool beverages or work. The shower handle was broken. But if you need - the closet was massive. The walls seemed thick but the doors had a gap under and must have been very poor material because you could hear everything in the hall even just the ice machine. Unless you like wasting money on a place to sleep don’t bother.

The staff was very friendly and personable. We did eat in the restaurant and the service was slow. The waiter did not hide the fact the kitchen was slow and did apologize many times. The room was our concern. It was very small and tight. The bathroom was very oversize. There was a huge jacuzzi tub in the bathroom which made it difficult to get in and out. Also the faucet was barely dripping water. Also, the fridge didn't keep water cold. Overall thoughts were not all negative. I'd stay again but request a different room to accommodate us and pick a different shower set up.

Restaurant wait staff all seem like they hate their jobs. Not frienly very long waits to get someone to even say I'll be with you in a moment. Even when barely any patrons. Over all horrible experiences wont ever stay at franchise again will never recommended

The rooms are decent, but nothing exciting. The refrigerator didn’t work, the tv only worked to watch Netflix, and the phone wouldn’t call down to the front desk. The bathroom was way too dark for my liking, and made it hard to do my makeup. But the bar & restaurant were fun. And the location was great and made it convenient to return to the room throughout the day while eating, drinking, and shopping in Gaslamp.

We absolutely loved the location! Walking distance to so much! We had a great view from our room as well of Petco Park which was the reason for our trip so they kids were so happy to look out the window. Room was big and cozy! Only complaint was the noisy guests in the hallway at 3am but we don’t hold that against the hotel and would stay there again!

Everything closed. No communication regarding that. Only one staff member who was less than friendly. Pool area rundown.
- 5/5
This is an amazing hotel located at the center of downtown with great atmosphere.
- 4/5
- 5/5
We actually didn’t know there was free breakfast. But we enjoyed the restaurant and bar.
- 4/5
It was lovely, except for paying extra to check in early; the room still wasn't ready, and we waited an additional 20-30 minutes for one to become available.
- 4/5
The staff was amazing, however, I did not like that you tried to sell me soap and lotion without providing soap and lotion for my immediate use. Also the parking was too expensive and you did not offer the self parking option. Overall the location of the property in the city was good and the staff was great.

Nice facility. Well maintained. As an older person I felt that a support bar in the shower would have been nice and maybe a slip resistant texture in the tub would have felt safer. We are big fans of walk in showers. Don’t know if that is an option to request when booking.

Loved our stay at Margaritaville! Staff were so helpful and friendly, we even received a room upgrade for our anniversary! Room was spacious, bright and clean with great decor. Loved the rooftop pool and both restaurants. Took advantage of the fun complimentary bikes to get around town. Highly recommend!

It was quick, easily accessible, and most important very very clean. I truly enjoyed my stay, highly recommend.
- 5/5
This was my first time booking a hotel both in san diego and in general and it was a really great experience. I was in town for Twitch Con and it was a very good hotel to walk to the convention center (for me it was around a 5min walk). Staff was super amazing and I was thankful that they could help me with my check in as I was having some issues with having to use my parents card. The rooms were also very nice when I got there. my only small issues (to me they didn’t matter but for some it might) was the walls and music as some other reviews mention yes the walls are thin. yes the music does play a little later than what most places might. However at least for the walls I understand they might be a little thin considering most of the rooms can be joint rooms, and i’m a heavy sleeper and I stay up late so the music didn’t bother me but I know some may complain about it.All in all in my experience this was a very great hotel. Thank you to the staff and management for making my first trip very comfortable.
- 5/5
Good amenities, chill vibes

I loved the decor of this hotel. It was very nice. would highly recommend
- 2/5
Staff was great. Over priced for what you get. Landshark bar in the hotel was terrible staff. Sat down on a Saturday night to listen to the performer there. Sat for 20 minutes and no one approached us for an order. Servers were walking right passed us, and didn't even say freaking "hi" or anything. I had to get up and walk to the server to ask for a drink order. The prices were extremely too much for what you get, when you could walk to any other restaurant and bar and get the same things for less money. Way over priced. The live music was awesome, and there was no one in that bar, except us and few people around the bar buying drinks. For a Saturday night, to not have anyone in that bar says alot, especially with TwitchCon going on. No hot tub. The door to the pool was busted and hard to even open. The staff at the front desk were awesome, the valet personnel were also awesome, along with the housekeeping were great. I will not be back to this hotel again however. There are other hotels in that area that offer way more for same or even less price. We stay each year in that area and look forward to San Diego. We had 2 smashed burgers in the pool area and drinks and came to 169 bucks for 2 people, and the order was even wrong. The rooms were smaller than we had hoped, no view of the city at all. For the price we paid, I could have easily stayed on the bay side with a view of the water. Not impressed at all. Good luck with that place, you are gonna need it.
- 3/5
Small dark room. Had a view of the pool but overall just felt dated and dark.
- 2/5
Pool water was dirty with a film on it. Lots of hair and bug floating around. Room had lot of water damage and dirty.
- 5/5
The pool area was nice. We did not like the view from our room, especially since it was mentioned before our arrival that we were in San Diego for our wedding. The counterspace in the bathrooms in non-existent. The gift shop, especially for being a Margaritaville, was really disappointing. Everything else was excellent though! We would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Conveniently located in Gaslamp district. Expensive valet parking at hotel and street parking is very limited. Comfortable beds. The pool side bar is nice.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel in a great location would definitely stay there again when visiting San Diego
- 5/5
Like everything
- 5/5
Everything was FABULOUS. The atmosphere, the Ambiance, the band, the food, the location was all top tier.
- 5/5
The room was beautiful and so clean and new. Staff were nice and the service from the front desk to the bars and restaurant was perfect. The bed ans pillows were so comfortable and the linens were soft and made the bed a haven.
- 5/5
I'd stay again
- 5/5
Perfect for a small conference
- 5/5
Rooftop bar right on premises so always someplace to relax and hang out.
- 5/5
Music was nice, but the drinks were way too over priced. They would fill the cup with ice then make the drink, which leave almost nothing left to drink.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff, quiet. Shared spaces like lobby and pool/bar area were never too crowded
- 3/5
However, we experienced some issues during our stay; the bathroom sink faucets looked dirty. There was black gunk around the faucet handles. There was also something wrong with the handle in the bath/shower. We couldn’t run a bath for our kid because the handle would slowly slide towards the hottest setting if no one was holding it, making the water too hot. We also had a leak in the fridge and came back to the room after a day out to find a giant puddle on the floor. Thankfully we didn’t have our belongings there. My friend’s room had a bathroom door that wouldn’t slide close and they had to have someone go in to fix it during their stay. Overall it was a decent place to stay, and our kids loved the decor. But would probably steer away next time because of all the inconveniences encountered here.
- 4/5
With that being said, we enjoyed our stay and will certainly come back for another stay. Also, the rooms looked a bit tired and could use a refresh.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, clean rooms, beautiful property.
- 4/5
We were able to check in early and check out late, but of course had to pay a fee
- 5/5
Broken Yolk cafe is my favorite breakfast place . And best place for drinks and fries is 5 o’clock somewhere bar .
- 3/5
The hotel was great. Didn’t like paying a resort fee as there were less amenities than most hotels that don’t charge this. The service staff at the front desk and restaurant were terrible.
- 5/5
Not as kitschy as I had feared. Loved the vibe
- 5/5
Super noisy at all times of the day and night.
- 5/5

Good location, hotel is clean and the staff is accommodating. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Noise isolation though is non existent you can hear everything on the hallways and adjacent rooms.
- 5/5
Clean property, modern vibes, excellent location.
- 5/5
Stayed at the margaritaville hotel in Nashville last year and decided to give this one in San Diego a Try. Was not disappointed. Location was excellent in the Gas lamp Quarter, staff were really friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful stay we will be back
- 5/5
Very clean comfortable property. Walking distance to great restaurants and amazing coffee shop on property.
- 5/5
Hotel was great
- 4/5
Very clean. Friendly staff.
- 2/5
Was excited to stay at Margaritaville until we got into our room! Instant smell of cigarettes like someone had just smoked a pack in there. The restroom was the worst part, the smell stayed in there all weekend, and dirty sink and shower. With the price we payed we were hoping for a cleaner experience!
- 2/5
Asked about room upgrade and was put in a room with balcony. BUT balcony did not access anything, had adjoining wall with pool, so very noisy. Balcony had no view and all we could see was a wall. Would not recommend.
- 5/5
Love the vibe.
- 4/5
1) When I called the main the desk to get some additional towels delivered, I was put on hold for quite some time, probably a good 30 minutes. Not sure if they were short staffed or just forgotten about but those things leave a sour taste when it comes to hospitality. Eventually, we just tracked down a maid and grabbed towels from them. 2) We were given a ADA room, which was probably the only room they had available at the time we checked in (1:45PM). It wasn’t a bad thing but the bench inside the tub made it very inconvenient to shower since it took up nearly 1/2 the tub. Other than those things, I would probably stay here again and get a regular room.
- 4/5
We had a lovely stay. But I was disappointed in the fact that the gift shop closed early and the restaurant closed early. I think the valet parking fee was way too much. And the tub spout and our shower dripped all night long. So that was frustrating to listen to. I was also disappointed in the fact that the day we were leaving, the pool was closed due to a private event. Something like this needs to be addressed or have the patrons informed prior to the stay because this is an amenity that we wanted to use.
- 3/5
It’s a cute place and definitely for an older crowd. The pool was tiny and there was no open chairs. All the food was terrible
- 4/5
our room wasnt cleaned on 2 seperate occasssions despite requests. the area is very convenient BUT it is a smelly dirty entrance. HOMELESSNESS is an issue in the area
- 3/5
Its a decent property , with Parking and resprt fees and ameneties charges and taxes be sure to add about $125 per night stay or more . Pool acess is very limited almost all areas are for pay / rent or ( reserved ) for nobody apparently just cant sit there unless you consume lots of food and drinks there.. Happy hour wasargaritas at 5pm waiter said that was only 5 min at 5:00-5:05 pm ..not what the text they send was .. Parking text is never working and they reply about 5 -10 min later you have to take slip to valet . Overall a basic experience for the higher price .
- 5/5
Celebrated my birthday weekend and my birthday falls on 8/29- Jimmy Buffett Day! Staff is friendly and helpful. Always service with a smile.
- 4/5
Nice property, rooms are a little small but clean. Would have liked if they had more than one elevator. Cabana was nice however pool was very small and wished they played different music. Overall nice experience
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location. It’s close to Petco Park and many restaurants and bars. We walked to Seaport Village and Little Italy. The staff were all very friendly! We had a corner room with really nice views.
- 5/5
You get wristbands for your hotel keys
- 5/5
The room itself was decorated with the most relaxing decor. The bathroom has very limited counter space which wasn’t a deal breaker. The room we were in did have a leaky tub spout.
- 5/5
Overall hotel was good. Pool was small for the size of facility. Busy after a padres game day. Under the cabinets could be cleaned up. We check to make sure our kids haven’t miss placed anything, could use a cleaning under there.
- 5/5
Great atmosphere, comfortable rooms with great fun theming and a fantastic view over petco park!
- 5/5
Loved this hotel. This is where I will stay next time I’m in San Diego
- 5/5
Great staff & fun place!
- 5/5
We only stayed one night but we had a wonderful experience. Check in was easy and the young lady that helped us, Gianna was very friendly and made the check in process super easy for us. Our room was very clean, wonderful and very comfortable.
- 5/5
Neighborhood was great!+++

- 3/5
The hotel is lovely whether you are a Buffett fan or not. Location is excellent especially for a Padres game. Our issues were with the fees, almost 120.00 a day for parking and resort. If you want an early check in it was another 40 bucks. The valets were not helpful at all and there was no concierge, they didnt even know where the San Diego zoo was? Also, our TV didnt work for the entire 3 day stay, a technician was sent up and he just shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do and to try Netflix.
- 4/5
The hotel was nice but the chairs in the room were dirty and we couldn’t sit on them. Overall it’s expensive for what you get. My husband could not use the gym as it was too packed and they have 1 treadmill lol. The parking attendants were nice but it’s annoying to have to wait for your car. Overall a nice hotel but not sure it was worth the money.
- 5/5
Our room was beautiful and spacious, the property is lovely and in a great location, easy to get to. Check in was a breeze. We are at the 5 o lock somewhere bar and downstairs and food and drinks were great! Definitely recommend!
- 3/5
The hotel system was down on our first day of arrival. Despite this, the staff provided us with free margaritas, but there was a two and a half-hour wait for a room after check-in time do to the system being down.
- 5/5
Great stay at Margarita Hotel San Diego! The room was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly, and the location is perfect—close to the beach and restaurants. I’d definitely come back!
- 3/5
This hotel is in a good location. The Landshark Grill is a good place to have a great margarita and some food. Overall, our room was fine, but average. I won’t stay here again - the staff didn’t provide great service.
- 4/5
Great hotel for the price, walking distance to EVERYTHING in downtown, tons of nightlife, restaurants and bars nearby.
- 5/5
Loved it. Only feedback I’d give is that I thought the pool would’ve been bigger and it would be nice if they had a jacuzzi as well!
- 2/5
The property is located in the city center, upon checking they charge my credit card $405 incentives ($100/night, we are only staying one night) also I had mentioned that I added breakfast with the bookings, which they can't figure out, end up giving us coupon for breakfast, I got a text that breakfast place will be closed for private function. Morning comes I pass by the lobby and asked what about out breakfast, they send
- 4/5
We loved everything about our stay at the property except for the moments that we did watch the television. The connection was glitchy and buffered more than one would expect and the WiFi was similar. Small issue when you are out and about but nonetheless it is an area for improvement.
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely, the vibe and location were great. Beautiful decor. The pool and gym were also very good. The only comments for us were very patchy Wi-Fi in our room (10th floor) and literally no place to hang wet towels and swimsuits. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
Rooms were nice and comfortable I wish the pool was open later. After a day of sightseeing, it’s nice to come back to the hotel and relax by the pool but it closed at 8, so we really couldn’t enjoy it.
- 5/5
We loved our stay and will book again !
- 5/5
Clean and attractive rooms ,spacious.Great pool area and public areas.Restaurant and bar convenient and tasty.Close to many places, walking distance. WIll stay again!!!

Very solid place to stay in the Gaslamp Quarter. Great check in, courteous staff, beautiful Buffett related decor, nice pool deck, convenient to every thing in the Gaslamp Quarter.
- 5/5
I really appreciate we were able to check in early. The staff and location was perfect to be out and about.
- 5/5
Credit was misleading
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 5/5
Was great
- 3/5
The room was small but the view of the pool was nice. But the pool and pool area didn’t look clean, our sink didn’t have any water pressure it was difficult to wash our hands. The shower was huge but we couldn’t get hot water. But the pressure in the shower was good. So it really was good and bad. We won’t return to this hotel, But we did enjoy our time in San Diego. Thank you
- 1/5
Terrible
- 4/5
But not kid friendly
- 5/5
Only complaint was the TV as it wasn’t working to get regular channels so we had to steam any TV, if we wanted to watch. Overall such a. Chill and relaxing vibe .. which made for a great vacation
- 1/5
They tried to charge me $45 to check in an hour early. They were so rude about it. When I said that’s not fair they gave me a handicap room. This place is a joke. They have zero idea how to treat people.
- 1/5
Extremely rude staff , never got any Expedia vip perks like promised . Put in a terrible room property was dirty and the staff are the worst . They do not treat you like a guest more like a burden . We heard from a lot of people that hotel used to be really good until margaritaville took over . Very poorly managed we reached out to the manager about our concerns the first night and never got a reply through the stay and still have not got a reply. If you read the Google review that our negative all the responses from the hotel are the same they don’t care same way you are treated when you are there . And they charge you a resort fee they do not tell you about ,

Weather was absolutely perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! High of 70 all week. The hotel was wonderful. Great location, friendly staff. clean room. Super close to Petco Park. Rooftop bar was nice as well. Would highly recommend this hotel for your next getaway.
- 5/5
It was so nice and the staff very friendly
- 4/5
Bathroom could use a refresh. TV service was spotty at night.
- 5/5
Was a great atmosphere for a holiday.
- 5/5
The facility area is located conveniently located close to the good restaurants and the convention center that I was attending for educational events.
- 4/5
Incidental fee and was almost not let check in even though the bill was paid for the room. Too much for resort fees
- 4/5
Close to many attractions. Staff at the bar were great. Beds were comfy and rooms were clean. Would stay again!
- 1/5
.
- 4/5
Had no view. Everything else was goid
- 1/5
Didn’t like how small hotel actually is. Pool was very small, not enough beds, feels like you have to scramble and fight for one. Pictures are a bit catfish.
- 5/5
This is a really nice location if you want to have access to the nightlife or go to a Padre’s game since the ballpark is around the corner. Their happy hour is a little expensive, but having a bar and a rooftop pool is a win for a relaxing afternoon.
- 4/5
I asked for supplies for our room but it took longer than expected.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect.
- 4/5
Outside downtown is mostly for adults(not kids friendly), due to smoke and weed smell, especially evening n nights. No vending machine for late night coke/snacks!! No microwave in room.
- 5/5
Loved our room
- 5/5
We had a great stay. Good location, clean, good restaurants nearby. Our deluxe king room had a nice pool view. We highly recommend it.
- 5/5
10/10 decor. Friendliness. Cleanliness. Pool. Location. Food. Definitely stay here if you’re in San Diego! Loved everything about it! The daily 5pm salut to Jimmy Buffet was the icing on the margarita!
- 4/5
Great location to many dining options. Wasn’t wowed with hotel drink/food prices. They were considerably higher than many establishments very close by. Especially beer prices. If you aren’t drinking at happy hour, you’re wasting money. $12 -14 beers vs $6-7 dollar beers full price at other bars. They also had very limited beer selection and food menu that was sub par and overpriced. Mixed drinks were overpriced $16 and watered down. Pool bar was excellent otherwise for venue, music and good bartenders. Happy hour is nutso if Padres have home games. I’d stay there again, but eat and drink elsewhere. Beds and room are excellent!
- 5/5
Great spot, great location, great service
- 5/5
Stayed here with my wife and toddler. The property was great! Excellent location and definitely worth the price point, will def consider staying here again!
- 4/5
Clean and tidy. Great staff
- 5/5
Great customer service and when I forgot my purse in the room when checking out they issued me a new key to retrieve it
- 3/5
I have stayed at other Margaritaville resorts in the past and this one did not measure up to their standards. There was only one restaurant on the property and it was the fins up bar and Grill with limited menu items. Don’t think about ordering a landmark beer, they don’t have it. Slightly overpriced for the type of property and location. I will stay elsewhere in the area next time I’m in San Diego.
- 3/5
I like the hotel, but, this was just stupid.
- 5/5
Everything about the property is relaxed and enjoyable. The spa rooms are wonderful and the bathtub is huge. Very happy with my stay. My only complaint is the number of loungers by the pool - very few considering the size of the resort. It's pricey, but what isn't these days.
- 5/5
Very nice with great location. Valet was a little slow due to then giving you a number to text, but the call down service wasnt working. Had a foreign object in my omelet in the morning, but it tasted good. Haha
- 5/5
Very nice place. Went for business and despite being busy due to an Elton John concert that night, I walked right up, checked in with no wait whatsoever. Ate dinner at Land Shark Restaurant downstairs where staff was extremely nice. Food was really good as well!
- 5/5
Very cute hotel. Fun colors, summer vacation vibe. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Truly a wonderful stay!!
- 5/5
Amazing service
- 5/5
Quirky, characterful and a joy to visit. Staff were delightful, room was perfect and food was excellent, except, the portions were beyond ridiculously enormous! We would certainly stay again if we ever get back to San Diego.
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
great location. modern.
- 5/5
Very good stay. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Food is delicious. The room decoration is awesome 👌
- 1/5
We were celebrating my fiances b'day and we asked for anything complimentary and they were just indifferent about it and said since we booked with third party there is nothing they can do. The shower was dirty and dusty. The chair had white stains. The corners of the bath tub were dirty. It was a one night stay so we just let it be. There was nothing welcoming about the location.
- 5/5
clean. quiet. perfect

We liked that there was a rooftop bar but the food wasn't great, nor were the margaritas, and the seating was dirty. The lawn chairs around the pool were also dirty. The room was NOT soundproof and you could hear all the street noise from the 9th floor, as well as every door that closed in the hallway. We slept very poorly to say the least!

I would not stay her again

Great hotel!
- 5/5
The bed was a little uncomfortable, but it wasn't horrible. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and provided exceptional customer service. The location is perfect, it's walking distance to so much. We will add the Margaritaville brand hotels to our top 3 places to stay, we travel a lot.

Location. Jimmy buffet vibes, pool, and bars
- 5/5
Great location in the Gaslamp. Parking is a challenge and expensive($65 per night valet). Everything else was perfect! Really good Jueveos Rancheros at the Resturant downstairs. Would defiantly stay again.
- 5/5
Great location! Nice pool and pool bar area. Rooms were spacious and clean.
- 4/5
There was a much-publicized daily happy hour from 4-7pm every day, but when we went to the bar they said it doesn't happen on ball game days, which was every day of the three we were there! Maybe offering happy hour to hotel guests would still be possible and a nice perk? We did receive a $35 food and beverage credit for my expedia status, but no room upgrade. For some reason the room wasn't serviced aside from the first day, which wasn't a major inconvenience. Overall, it was a good stay in a convenient location.
- 5/5
Nice trendy hotel in Gas light district. It’s definitely a vibe.
- 5/5
My only complaint would be that we had to wait 30 minutes for the valet when we departed. We were the only ones waiting. A line started forming because there was no one at the valet desk.
- 5/5
my stay in Margaritaville hotel was absolutely perfect!
- 4/5
Great asthetic and vibes. Beds just too small. Otherwise 5 stars.
- 5/5
Conveniently located near great dining options and attractions. Friendly and accommodating staff. Room was incredibly comfortable and felt a bit like home!
- 4/5
Area was nice. Staff was very nice. All in all it was pleasant.
- 4/5
It was a great stay. Overall staff was friendly. Some of the valets on check out was not as helpful as the ones that checked us in. I was told I could just scan ticket when ready to check out and got a different story when I checked out. Needless to say, didn't get help with my bags, was told that they don't accept texts for valets on Saturdays and when I said I was checking out and was getting my husband, no one even offered to help with bags. They just handed me my keys and pointed to where my car was even though me and my husband's hands were full. Since no one helped and I got lip, did not tip and was not a happy camper on exit. Remember the last thing a guest remembers is the last person they are in contact with when they leave. Checkin and check out staff was great though.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the location and proximity to breakfast spots and the general downtown area. Valet helped me to secure a lost jacket which was lost earlier. They had found it within their lost and found.
- 5/5
Loved this place, it was clean and staff were very friendly. Many places within walking distance to visit.
- 4/5
Great hotel. Loved the poolside bar. Only problem was that our room was not ready after check-in but they did offer us drink vouchers as compensation.
- 5/5
Short but sweet stay! The staff is all very welcoming and I was surprised to receive a text from them after checking asking how everything was so far and to let them know if I needed anything. Great customer service! The place is super cute and I would definitely stay there again 😊

Excellent property in a great area. No complaints about the hotel property nor staff. The hidden fees are what make it expensive; $35 daily resort fee and $65 per day to park.
- 3/5
Great location, staff was friendly, room clean and quiet. Disappointed in lack of wifi service, which included a guest amenities fee of $35/day, water pressure, inconsistent temperature and shower drip
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Really lovely rooms. Clean with excellent service. Friendly helpful staff!! Loved it
- 5/5
I liked restaurant on the property. Land Shark
- 5/5
Staff and ambience were terrific and it was way better than I had expected. We did watch the Super Bowl from the bar area and the staff could not have done anything else to allow us to enjoy the experience any more than we did. The location was excellent as was the overall condition and the rooms. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
The hotel and staff were great! The location was centrally located. It was easy to get around. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our time here. The Gaslamp quarter is fun snd lively and this hotel say in yhe perfect spot to explore.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed the stay here. Best bathtub ever.
- 4/5
Everything about the stay was great! The one and only downside of this hotel is the lack of parking options. You have to pay $65 a day for parking while you stay here.
- 5/5
Clean room. Location was perfect!

Lovely hotel in a great location! Friendly amenable staff. Rooftop bar brillian and happy hour was great Did not want to leave! Great experience

Alex (female) and Alex (male) were both amazing. So we’re Anna, Bertha, Stefanie and Marisol. The front desk staff were great! Alex (male) was so helpful we even stayed a couple more nights and will highly recommend it to friends. He even helped us with what to do and where to go.

It was clean and comfortable. We had an issue with the bathroom sink and someone came right away to fix it. Friendly staff!

Staff treated us like we were VIPs. Pleasant, helpful, friendly. If I needed anything they were accommodating and went above and beyond. Atmosphere is relaxed and chill.
- 5/5
Very cute, clean and fun!

If you’re looking for a hotel conveniently located and walkable to restaurants, shopping and the bay front, this is the place. The staff was wonderful and I would definitely book again!!
- 5/5
Everything was excellent, Ana helped at the front desk and she was amazing
- 5/5
The staff are excellent!
- 4/5
I liked everything besides the fact that there wasn’t a smart tv in the room, so you can’t stream anything. Basic cable in hotels is so 20 years ago. You can do better than that, Margaritaville
- 3/5
Great location and nice pool. Housekeeping not reliably provided.
- 5/5
This hotel was great for our Christmas holiday. It was clean, had great decor, and very friendly staff. The hotel is located in a great neighbourhood and there is a lot of amazing food and activities within walking distance.

The staff was very helpful and nice. The room decor was super colorful and upbeat! The convinces of every was amazing! We will stay again.

They blinds were broken and it was difficult to fall asleep.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The location to restaurants was great and area seemed well managed by street security. As a woman in the city I felt pretty safe.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our staying in this Hotel
- 5/5
Everything was amazing and the staff is wonderful. Funny how the entire time we were there we never heard Margaritaville once, but I swear, as we pulled out of the parking lot the day we checked out, Come Monday started playing on XM in our truck. It was the ending soundtrack to a wonderful trip 🍹🍹

Not sure what VIP option there was for us.

Nice clean place

I had booked a room with a spa tub, and did not get this. The hotel paid for my parking, which was nice but the whole reason I booked at this property was to have that room. I could have easily booked somewhere else with a similar room for cheaper. The shower had the worst water pressure ever. The pool is a joke, super small and not even a jacuzzi. Even motel 6 has jacuzzis. I was very unimpressed. Not worth the price.
- 3/5
Day before we left there was a water leak from bathroom above ours and we had to change rooms due to water coming thru lights and ceiling!
- 5/5
Quick shopping getaway with kids. Paid for upgrade to suite. Well worth it. Even the sleeper was comfy
- 3/5
You will hear every single door shut and they only offer valet parking for $65 and that price is absolutely outrageous. There was construction going on and they never gave a heads up for that. The rooftop bar was nice and the drinks were delicious. The room was clean and beds are comfortable. The staff was nice and friendly. I will not stay here again because of the noise and the cost to park.
