Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests praising the staff, cleanliness, and breakfast, but also expressing concerns about the property's condition, noise, and parking. Some guests reported issues with the rooms, such as bad odors, outdated amenities, and uncomfortable beds.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean rooms and facilities
- Dated property and amenities
- Noise from other rooms and outside

The place was OK, the breakfast was not good, no protein , coffee didn't have any creamer, only 2% milk, fruits were old, bananas were black spotted , the room had a mildew smell, carpet was outdated and stained, the things that could be changed were great, the bed sheets, the towels! Shower was great strong flowing stream. Parking was full after a certain hour.
- 5/5
It was clean from the room to the bathroom. Hotel breakfast was hot. Staff was super helpful and provided more towels for us as we requested. Super close to everything like Mission Beach, Midway, etc. The hotel was near lots of gas stations and quick food spots which was helpful if we needed a late night snack. Will stay here again if I come back to San Diego.
- 1/5
Disgusting room. Will never recommend this particular place, not sure about other properties of La quinta
- 5/5
I was comfortable Everything was good
- 3/5
On a plus point the breakfast choices were good. Re parking I’d advise to park on the lower level which is more spacious than reception level. If I was in the area again think I would look elsewhere away from the freeway.
- 3/5
The bed was super comfy and the room was clean but pretty neglected (our microwave was sitting

Little difficult to find. Breakfast could use a little help…maybe add various types of yogurt. What you had was fresh and good.

- Buffet breakfast was decent. Not much meat options besides eggs (scrambled or hard boiled) and two of the days, there was sausages. We stayed for three nights and had breakfast for three mornings - Parking is tight if you have an SUV. Most parking is covered. Nice that parking is free. - Nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room, plus a single serve coffee maker (not a Keurig). - Pool went as deep as 5.5 feet. Jacuzzi was nice. Towels provided right before you go to the pool. - Vending machine for snacks and drinks, but no store in the hotel, but not a problem since other convenience stores were a walk away. - Good deal for a simple room with good amenities, free breakfast and free parking.

However, the staff was very kind and available. We stayed 5 nights and every day had fresh towels, rags, fresh linen and it was vacuumed and the trash taken out. Not a bad price for as long as we stayed and a convenient location to our activities and excursions. It is an old hotel so many updates would do it some good.

Had a great stay here for my one night in San Diego. Location and parking on sight out of the sun was nice and convenient. My room was spacious and clean, bed was comfy, and it was quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

Nothing Upon arrival, the room had a strong foul odor, and after being moved to another room, I discovered a large urine stain on the bed linens. Additionally, the room floors were dirty, and the kitchen area appeared poorly maintained. I also observed food that had been left out from earlier in the day being served again the following morning, raising serious health and sanitation concerns. Given these conditions, I do not believe the accommodations met reasonable cleanliness standards.

The hotel needs updating, and there was some mold in bathroom. Staff was helpful, breakfast ok, parking excellent.

Super affordable, good location & the guy at the front desk was super friendly.

0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. On a sketchy street with many unhoused hanging around. Tight parking spots. The room was gross, hair left behind. The chair in the room had stains all over it. My children even mentioned how dirty it looked. The furniture was beat up. LOUD morning construction every day. The pictures on the website do NOT reflect the condition of the room. The ironing board and iron were probably from 20 years ago. DON'T DO IT.
- 3.5/5
I liked that they didn’t kick us out after the pool was closed. There’s a sign on the wall stating the hours and me and my girlfriend we there for like 10 minutes after because someone was in the whole time. We got to hang out and not get told to leave. It was cool. I also like that I could bring my cat. The location and the overwhelming parking lot.

Breakfast was very good
- 4/5
It was close to place we were going
- 4/5
Room was clean, but definitely needed some touch up paint on the wall and chairs needed to be wiped down. Breakfast was not what you would expect. Eggs were cold, sausage looked like it needed some liquid, had to wait for coffee, not as much selection as other properties we have stayed at. We did go on a busy holiday weekend but the price was more than it should have been for the property itself
- 3/5
Staff was super friendly and helpful, property is in a sketchy area especially at night you have alot of homeless and tweakers smoking in the parking garage, carpets were really dirty . The room carpet was really dirty , ceiling had a Crack and looked like it was going to leak or cave in. Holes on the wall. I think this place needs major upgrade . U really get what u pay for here in this area. Was not our first choice to stay at .
- 5/5
Breakfast was acceptable
- 4/5
Mattress was awful
- 4/5
The onsite parking is very cramped and not easy to navigate. The garage closest to the lobby is very limited and extremely difficult to get in and out of. Better off to park in the slightly larger garage on the other side.
- 2/5
This property was extremely run down, the carpets were filthy, there were tiles missing from the bathroom walls and everything felt dirty. The surrounding areas are very unsafe and as a female solo traveler I did not feel comfortable there. The staff was very sweet and understanding but I only stayed one night and left due to the conditions.
- 4/5
The room was clean, and the staff was always pleasant and helpful. Beds, sheets, towels, water pressure - all those sorts of things were great. But the hotel is in a tough location, as it's parallel to the I-5 on-ramp, near a boarding kennel for dogs, and directly between the main roads and a dispensary tucked just behind the hotel. The hotel definitely needs a major overhaul. Things like the fitness room were poor (every cardio machine needs repairs and maintenance), the grounds always seemed dirty, and the front desk looked like it needed repairs and an upgrade. Parking is iffy at best if you have a large truck or a high-clearance vehicle. Probably not staying here again.

I had a way better experience at La Quinta Inn at Miramar. I thought they should have the same level of cleanliness, but I was wrong. The hallways have a strong odor; the room was better, but it's clear they missed several spots, and it wasn't as clean as the Miramar location. I won't book this motel again. I work in La Jolla and stay there two nights per week, so I checked many motels, but the La Quinta Inn at Miramar has been the best so far.
- 4/5
The breakfast was okay, some hot items were cold but overall good breakfast.
- 3/5
The property is old and parking is very tight
- 3/5
It’s near a rental car place.
- 3/5
Place is clean and and older building. Food okay but barely warm.

Hot tub and pool were very nice. Breakfast average. Didn't have fresh fruit every day. Sausage was just ok. Room was very nice.
- 5/5
Everyone very pleasant

We all enjoy the stay

Everything was ok, seemed a bit unsafe outside of the hotel, the rugs were very filthy and had a scent, we had to leave the A/C on to filter the smell.

Staff was very friendly and my room was clean. The breakfast was tasty and the eating area was welcoming. Parking was easy.
- 5/5
Great space for a one night stay
- 4/5
They did change our towels and refresh our bed in a daily basis. The shower was great. Lots of pressure and hot water. The outside of the hotel has a lot of trash like homeless people lives there. It may not have technically been their property but they could clean it up to help the neighborhood.
- 5/5
Breakfast and workout area was the best part
- 3/5
I will not stay at this La Quinta Ince and suites again. Breakfast was skimpy and cold well before the clothes of breakfast hour. I came out of my room one morning to find Truly Nolan, the pest control company spraying inside the rims. I am sure I’m not the only one who is extremely sensitive to the toxins and upset that this was not stated before I agreed to rent this room.
- 4/5
Room is clean, breakfast is “okay”
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay
- 4/5
Everything was good besides the parking was a hassle.
- 4/5
The staff was excellent. The room needed minor repairs
- 3/5
Breakfast could be better
- 1/5
Room is too small and when I complaint about that there is a smell in the room at the time of checkin. They mentioned to me that they can refund my amount but at the middle of night finding another hotel would not be easier. Customer service is poor.
- 5/5
The breakfast was good they keep the common areas clean and the staff is very friendly
- 4/5
Staff was friendly.
- 3/5
good
- 4/5
Do not feel noisy, however Room clean good size quiet with standard amenities. King sized bed along with sofa bed. Bed sheet and blanket for the sofa bed are not in the room, so need to request. Breakfast was decent. 2 leveled parking; top one connected to lobby, tight turn to get in or out. Bottom one accessible from back side street that have a few homeless people.
- 3/5
Breakfast was not the best. No actual waffle maker which was disappointing.
- 5/5
Excellent

Pet friendly
- 1/5
Miriam was so trouble and not nice , room so dirty , bad additude
- 3/5
Not very nice area surrounding the hotel some homeless at the sidewalk, and the rooms kind of old need some renew as well as the common areas of the hotel.
- 3/5
My room was nice enough, and spotless. The lobby is quite shabby and makes a poor first impression, but the staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is very small. But the breakfast offers many items.
- 3/5
I am not sure the breakfast bar is good.
- 3/5
The hotel was located in an area that was less than ideal…. Although, It was close to the local attractions…. I only notice a few homeless during our three days in San Diego, and one of the homeless living in their car was about fifty feet from the hotel….
- 5/5
Good spot to stay at

The breakfast is terrible. The food is cold no matter the time you eat, right at 6:30 when it starts or at 8:00, it's cold. The selection is none existent and is the same thing day after day. Heads up breakfast is from 6:30 to 9:30 weekdays and 7:00 to 10:00 on weekends, so of you are an early raiser this probably isn’t the hotel for you. The housekeeping staff were friendly otherwise the remaining staff were unapproachable and unfriendly, which is the opposite of what you expect of hospitality personal.
- 4/5
Location not in an easy location to reach. No parking by the front lobby to be able to check in before parking car in garage.
- 5/5
Breakfast , clean and spacious room
- 3/5
there were homeless people outside the building at night and a few questionable characters doing business out of their cars.. the are was not the greatest, but the hotel itself was ok.
- 5/5
Very nice place , room was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good to start the day.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Stayed for one two evenings. I didn't like the parking situation, but that's just me, I don't like enclosed parking lots. The room was really nice, clean and bed was super comfortable. The water pressure was good, hot and the hotel was great for the evenings I was there.
- 4/5
Clean quiet room with nice breakfast
- 2/5
The carpets are filthy....the neighborhood is somewhat sketchy...the hotel smell ..

Breakfast: Limited options and staff unable to assist more importantly my elderly mother got food poisoning from the milk/milk creamers that arenised for oatmeal in this case or coffe. She became violently sick and ahd to get medical attention and still recovering to date. Please be advised in regards. Pleaae allow this to reflext our portion that goes towards the price we paid, please remove wjqre we got wock and have otvreflexted oncour etau
- 3/5
Pictures don't match the sketchy feel. Parking sucks. So does breakfast, typical industrial themed food, cafeteria food-like product. Poor lighting in room, 1st floor rooms have on street, ground- level windows, fresh air wasn't an option. All Wyndham properties seem to be subpar
- 1/5
The hotel and room we're nothing like the pictures. Run down and poor upkeep.
- 5/5
The room was great 👍
- 3/5
The breakfast wasn’t the best. The room seemed a little run down and dirty in the corners.

Staff was very friendly but the carpets in the hallway could use a good cleaning.

Nice staff and cleaned.

The room was adequate and clean. The bathroom sink was very slow to drain and it left residue. The carpet could hav been vacuumed daily.
- 4/5
Nice room, free breakfast was pretty bad
- 3/5
Very noisy from highway. Also very outdated
- 1/5
Booked through Expedia and found out during check in that they were suppose to have a power outage from 10pm to 4am. Cancelled my room
- 4/5
Overall a good stay. The room was comfortable, and breakfast was good. Housekeeping was regular, but the floors were never mopped — only vacuumed. Otherwise, everything was fine.

- 4/5
Nice front desk staff. Room was clean
- 5/5
Great place. Great staff. Super clean!
- 1/5
The stay was good breakfast was fine. I had an experience where I was looking for my glasses and that ran into the checkout time roughly 11:45 when I left the room. I couldn’t find my glasses and I was looking for them in the room. Front desk called to get out of the room and I told them my situation, asking if anyone turned in glasses which they responded by hanging up on me. I eventually found my glasses by the pool which I left the night before. Then upon getting home from my trip I see that I was charged an extra $250. My experience with the staff the last day really put a sour taste for the trip.
- 3/5
Exactly that much
- 3/5
The breakfast area was very dirty, the person cleaning the area looked like she doesn’t like her job and never cleaned up tables or anything.
- 4/5
Room was quiet and spotless. Parking spaces were really tight and difficult to get into. The hotel is a bit worn and tired. The breakfast was excellent and well thought through. The staff was really kind and helpful.

This was literally the best hotel i've ever stayed in John at the front desk is amazing. All the women at the front desk are amazing. The room is excellent. The service is beyond comprehension and we stayed for a few weeks.. in this price range, I would highly highly recommend this hotel for anything you need in that Mission

Clean Room & Staff amazing.
- 3/5
Hotel looks old and run down. Definitely needs some love but good stay overall
- 5/5
Nice rooms, clean and kind staff especially John the evening clerk.
- 4/5
Nice and clean, great customer service.
- 2/5
The doors were creaky. The shower curtain was too short - the water leaked all the way across the room. When the 'do not disturb' sign was hung, staff would slip printed papers under the door every morning asking guests to call reception if anything was needed. This seems counterproductive for a hotel promoting environmental initiatives.

Excellent location and superb access to the highways
- 5/5
The room what station is clean and a very relaxing view just to indulging close to the beach and other convenient amenities, such as food and recreational activities definitely a strong recommend!
- 3/5
Room was okay, they don’t service it, unless you request it and it’s a charge
- 3/5
Limited parking. Inconvenient to enter driveway., narrow and accident prone location .
- 5/5
It is near around evrything..
- 4/5
Convenient to where we needed to go and allowed pets. Right off freeway so easy access to get on/off freeway. Tight parking spaces made it challenging to get in/out. Breakfast included. Coffee was not very good and not hot. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
The room and staff were fine. Location was much worse than expected. Complementary breakfast bar was much less than expected after being at other La Quinta locations.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice, room was clean.
- 5/5
It was convenient
- 5/5
Easy check in
- 4/5
My room was clean, and it was real quiet which I like.

Our room was not cleaned nor were our beds made on the 1st night. We specifically asked that room be cleaned the 2nd night and still not done.

Short and sweet it was good and have the best prices compared to other places

Room was clean and great for my pet. Hallway carpet was stained.

Everything of the hotel was great. However, the location had homeless people and in the morning when I went to my car, there was a homeless person sleeping next to my car.

- 3/5
Room was decent
- 5/5
Very accommodating and friendly
- 3/5
The room was fine. There was an odd smell when we first walked in but I carry Lysol spray which took care of that. This was an ADA room and the shower leaked so bad we needed to get several pool towels to mop up the tile floor. The complimentary breakfast was the worst we've ever had. The potatoes, sausage patties were hard and the potatoes were unedible. The best thing was the english muffins....the bed was fine and we slept well.
- 5/5
The breakfast was very disappointing! Powdered eggs, hockey puck sausage. But it was very nice to be able to bring my dog there.
- 1/5
This hotel was in a homeless areas, saw lots of homeless camps directly behind my room. When I arrived there was no one at front desk and had to wait for over 30 minutes. My room smelled terrible and was dirty. I’ve stayed at other hotel chains for this same one and never had a bad experience. Do not recommend
- 4/5
clean place.
- 5/5
The room is spacious, unlike the parking. I need help to get out one time. I really the room it has balcony.
- 4/5
Friendly staff good breakfast
- 2/5
I have always had great success at LaQuintas and I do not like giving a negative review! Property was difficult to find. Parking sketchy. Front desk staff was on phone when checking in and it was obvious I distracted their conversation and was spoken to rudely. It did not seem to be a ‘happy’ inviting place. Old hotel tried to be refurbished. Needs work.
- 2/5
Rooms were alright but the hallway smelled weird. Not to mention their cleaning staff left our room unlocked so anyone could have gone into our room to take our stuff. Their front desk is on the second floor. There were a couple of people hanging inside the parking garage trying to get inside the building (assuming for the free breakfast). Felt a bit unsafe in general but they didn’t cause any harm, just don’t be alarmed if they try to catch the door behind you.
- 5/5
Great full breakfast
- 4/5
Parking was r real limited for big truck beware
- 1/5
Room smelled like mold, so damp and gross. Had to open the windows everyday to try and air out the smell. Pillows were worthless and hotel had no extras to give to us to use.
- 5/5
The customer service was great, room and bathroom was very clean.
- 5/5
The price was excellent the room i got was very large everything was clean and welcoming the area has some food options not too far from the beach either and for the price this stay was worth it for me i recommend it, dont expect 5 star breakfast. but the stay was awesome
- 1/5
We bring our own bedding when traveling and it now smells like mildew. Hotel had that wet dog smell that clearly transfers into every fiber you bring in there. Yuk yuk yuk were tossing it all
- 4/5
Nice staff. Noisy location. Smell a lot of chemicals used. Good beds.
- 4/5
Front desk is very friendly, rooms, bed & bathroom are clean. Breakfast is do-able. Everything was good except, windows were dirty 😔 we had a great view, but it was gard to see out because of dirty windows
- 4/5
Clean room
- 2/5
Would not recommend this hotel. Overall run down, pictures are clearly outdated (or edited). There were multiple incidents with strangers in the parking garage, a few being quite scary situations and the staff brushed it off saying they'd "go chase away those people". Our initial room smelled horrible and the room had not been cleaned. I was moved to a new room that was at the very least clean. Our new room had a neighbor who was actively doing drugs in the parking lot (intravenous) and then was slamming her door and yelling at imaginary people in the hall for hours at night. Upon telling the front desk I was told to call them with each incident and once there were enough reports they could intervene. I asked if they could come up to the floor to see what was going on for over 20 minutes they said there was nothing that could be done. The breakfast area was so dirty and the coffee was cold, we only tried eating there 1 of the mornings and refused to step back in the breakfast area, gross. We stayed our full reservation but were very happy to move on to another La Quinta in the area that was SO MUCH BETTER FOR THE SMAE PRICE. If Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has a standard for their franchises, this would get a giant F.
- 5/5
From the outside, the property looks pretty dull with the grey walls but once you enter the property, the lobby is inviting. Everything is clean immaculate the parking area is a bit cramped and tight, but there seems to be plenty of parking. The hallways are are clean and uncluttered the room overall gets a B-, in my room, the paint was not matching and some wall repairs was left undone, but overall the room is very clean. Smelled good.
- 4/5
Hotel was great but the location seems very questionable. Trash piles by the garage and street, homeless people walking in and eating breakfast in the lounge
- 3/5
Liked that it was pet friendly. Staff was nice and helpful. Room was not as clean as I would have liked it.
- 1/5
Flithy hallway
- 4/5
Nice and quiet.
- 3/5
We state because of pet policy. Pets are welcome!
- 4/5
The Breakfast Bar was very poorly and just had service for very short time and no one from the staff had any spirit of service!!!!!

Bathroom had patchwork done and never painted over bathroom was not finished painted it had parts where it was a different color. along the hallway had patch work done where it was a different color. when we got there and walked into the elevator there was a big cockroach in the elevator a homeless man in the 1st floor parking garage by the cars. soap wrapper in the shower from previous guests.
- 4/5
The air conditioning was fine
- 3/5
Power went out around 8pm. Tv didn’t work for an hour. Lots of homeless folks wandering around the property… all over the parking garage.

And everything is good except the breakfast area personal, the las couple times including today they were so rude and bad attitude to the costumers. Very disappointed ☹️
- 5/5
We stay one night and even we arrive very late no hassle check in.
- 4/5
The pool and hot tub were nice but the area needs an update/refresh. Overall, it was a decent place to stay and our front desk agent, John, was very nice and professional.

- 2/5
This hotel was not as advertised. Old run down and first room was dirty.

We had issues from the start. At check-in we had a 2-hr wait for one of our rooms. One of our rooms had ants and when we called it in to the frint desk, they didnt come till 2 days later (we stayed 5 nights). Then the elevator broke down. We were moved to another floor. The front desk guy was very helpful and tried to his best to accommodate us. We understood that these things are out of his control. One of the front desk ladies was rude, when we called about room service. The food wasn't the best. The coffee was always cold. There was no microwave available to at least warm the coffee and other food. The hot menu food consisted of sausage , eggs and watery biscuits and gravy. There was no variety. The staff food storage area was also questionable. The hotel is right next to a car repair shop, which was noisy early in the morning. It is also right next to a busy freeway exit. So there was lots of traffic as you exit the hotel.
- 2/5
Not safe for families. Drug addicts sleeping by the parking lot. Drug parifinalia on grounds. Hotel had Very dirty carpeting badly pee stained and smelly in the hallways. Unsecured and unsafe parking. Worried about my car getting vandalized the entire 3 days. Or attacked!
- 5/5
Great central location to get to the main attractions we wanted to see. The room was large and clean. The elevator broke on day 2 so had to use the stairs. Luckily, it was only one flight up. Breakfast was nice. I would definitely stay here again.
- 1/5
Worst stay. Elevator was broken had to drag bags upstairs. Didn't get the room we paid for. At 5 am garbage trucks came and were loud enough to wake the dead. Surrounding area is filled with vagrants. Stay elsewhere.
- 3/5
I like the convenient location of this property and the free parking. The hotel is showing its age. The third floor hall carpets were particularly stained in a number of area. The room furniture was in average to poor condition. The room felt generally clean but is sure didn’t sparkle. The bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water and water pressure. Overall I was disappointed with my stay.
- 5/5
Beautiful property. So many activities and places to eat. The food was delicious at both the dinner and Quixote. I loved the concierge text line for guests. Poolside service was excellent. The bed was so comfortable and of course the room was just as cute as the rest of the hotel.
- 2/5
place was dirty. walls in shower had a lot of hairs. counters were dirty. microwave button broken. ac leaking outside makes a lot of noise, a lot of homeless people outside
- 4/5
The breakfast was pretty good. The staff were courteous and helpful. The area around the building is difficult to navigate to get to the hotel and some areas are not pretty to look at.
- 3/5
Parking was awful but available without a fee which was nice. The pool area was not being cleaned as the same garbage on the deck was there from the first to last day. One day there was someone from a motorhome in the hot tub. Not clients of the hotel. We did call and report the hot tub had something that looked like a paper towel around the filter. The next day they revel it but left it on the pool deck. It never got cleaned up. Breakfast Was adequate. I chose to go the cheaper route for this trip. It was an okay value.
- 2/5
This made sleep impossible. At check out when the front desk asked how my stay was I said "not great, I didnt get any sleep" and explained the noise. Front desk nonchalantly said "I will let maintenance know" without an apology, inquiring more about the situation, or offering any compensation.
- 4/5
Had good breakfast, quiet.
- 4/5
It was a nice stay. We enjoyed the hot tub each day. Free parking was nice. Breakfast was good but staff struggled to keep up with replacing food items. All in all a good deal.
- 1/5
Property is run down. First room we got was not cleaned. Second room was smaller. Not a lot of parking. And the second night there was a noisy dog inside the hotel. Staff didn’t do anything about it for like 4 hours.
- 3/5
The location is behind a freeway and pot facility
- 4/5
Convenient location, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Parking is sometimes difficult. Breakfast is okay but could use some variety and maybe longer hours. Nice to have a laundry room available, pool area could be a little more inviting. Overall a good hotel for the price and would stay there again!
- 4/5
4th floor a bit of road noise otherwise good and no issues.
- 2/5
The property to me was scary looking
- 5/5
Very easy check in. Good prices free breakfast would definitely stay again if in the area
- 4/5
There are too few parking spaces in the hotel, and there are too few parking spaces, which makes parking very inconvenient. There is no obvious sign at the entrance of the hotel!
- 4/5
The area around the hotel is sketchy. The first room we had was dirty and the carpet was stained everywhere. Our neighbors were loud, yelling for hours and I went to talk to the staff. They moved us and that room was great. It was clean and nice.
- 2/5
The location of the hotel itself seems in a not so great area. The parking is really tight, the breakfast prep area looked really dirty. The room itself was okay, but the shower certain rod was pulling away from the wall in the bathroom and the shower head itself was not flowing properly and the tub was creaking with every small step made while taking a shower. We could also hear everything/everyone in the hallway at all hours of the night.
- 1/5
Bed was right next to the AC and was lou
- 4/5
navigating to the hotel was a little tricky the first time, after that it was easy.
- 1/5
I had spoken to the 3rd party reservation about shortening my stay and they had spoke w/ hotel and they had confirmed if I checked out at 11am I would get a refund for the last night. So thats exactly what i did, i spoke to two women at the front desk and informed them about the early check in and they guranteed me I'd get the refund for the last unused night.
- 4/5
It is just average
- 5/5
Great hotel, clean, family friendly, kids enjoyed the pool. Close by to amusement parks.
- 3/5
The front desk was helpful
- 3/5
Unfortunately, our room had a significant ant problem. We woke up to find ants covering the table. Additionally, after handing over our used towels to housekeeping, they were not replaced, which was disappointing. Pros: The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently located near the highway, with an In-N-Out Burger just around the corner. The room itself was spacious and comfortable.
- 2/5
Location, conditions and dirty
- 5/5
Parking spaces were narrow . Other than that all was ok
- 1/5
Ants, mold in bathroom, rusted matress',did not accommodate rooms next to or even on same floor even though I followed how I was told to call back and request day peior and morning of arrival. Made watching little ones extremely difficult. Trash all outside. Oh and don't forget the explosion in the parking near our car.
- 1/5
Room, though on the 4th floor has terrible odor of sewage. Room has ants.
- 3/5
We did not stay at the property as we felt very unsafe and had concerns when checking in at night. The staff didn't do anything to provide reassurance, just that we wouldn't get our money back. As there was nothing that could be done, we notified Expedia and left.
- 5/5
Loved the shampoo , conditioner
- 3/5
Staff were friendly. The room was clean with a few ants in bathroom. As some people mentioned, the outside of the place is a little sketchy but feels safe once in the building.
- 4/5
The property is in a good location as it is central to almost every activity around San Diego. The staff was nice, and the rooms comfortable and clean. The only thing I didn't like was it was a little noisy traffic wise and there were always tiny ants in the bathroom.
- 4/5
When we arrived our room wasn’t very clean but they came and cleaned it again.
- 3/5
The immediate location of this hotel was poor form many reasons. Later looking at others comments one likened it to having ghetto feelings and I unfortunately must agree. I would rate the experience as a 5/10 and found it unbelievable that there were several people rating it at 10/10…no way! Really makes us question fake ratings!!! It was on a strange road that depending on what direction you entered it was hard to find. There were also homeless people issues all around and some incidents around the hotel. Limited parking was also an issue with some frustrations. Inside the hotel the hallways were not clean, stains on floors in many areas, and some damaged walls made me question upkeep along with questions as to the levels of cleanliness. The rooms were ok, except some worn furniture damaged fixtures, and paper thin walls, especially where rooms had adjoining doors. When someone came into an adjacent room I was astonished how I could literally hear their conversation very clearly, and they didn’t seem to be talking loud. This lack of privacy was troubling. The breakfast was very basic and the quality wasn’t that good, to the point that we skipped it on subsequent days. The price was wayyyy to much for the experience and I would definitely not go back even if the price were 1/4! The best thing I can say is that the water pressure was nice and strong, but practically everything else was disappointing. Unless there are no other choices I would pass on this place!
- 4/5
Great location.
- 3/5
Breakfast options were pretty limited, eggs super salty. Room pretty clean. Parking was horrendous. Staff fairly friendly, night shifts worker was sleeping at the front desk around 5:30 am. Saw a transient person being escorted out of the lobby with her belongings in trash bags when we arrived.
- 3/5
Location was poor! Breakfast table was empty most of the time
- 4/5
I did not have a car so I can’t comment on parking. For me it was a good location because near the metro bus station. 7 eleven across the street , next to McDonald’s and Starbucks down the street. The breakfast was decent not busy all everything looked clean. The room was spacious , looked nice but noticed small details in the room and It did have an odor . No water machine to refill water. I asked for water machine and the front desk ask me to use the juice machine that has water 🤔 I didn’t even bother . I asked about the pool and the receptionist did say it was open but we did not use. We took the metro to old town sand Diego historical park . From the hotel it was about a 5 min walk and 3 steps once u jump on about 8min ride. Also used the metro to go to balboa park. We used the metro line since we did not have a car it’s 2.50 one way or 7.50 all day. Back to the hotel it was okay no issues except for the fact that my room had a bit of an Odor and couch had small stains and lip over priced .
- 3/5
This hotel is "ok" but considering the price, it's sub-par. I know, it's San Diego... However, I don't know who manages that place but no room was available when we came in at 7:15, then we were sent to a room that wasn't done... not to mention that the party coming in just before us was sent to a dirty room first, and then to another one that was occupied. In short, chaos. An another case of a property owner or manager hiding behind the on premise staff ?
- 4/5
Everything was clean and up-to-date in our room. It smelled nice and was comfortable. The building itself is old but that’s charming. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was the area outside the parking structure. Lots of trash and debris clutters the area alongside the driveway. It looks as though homeless people use the area regularly. It’s unsightly and it makes the area feel unsafe. Perhaps the locals are so used to seeing it that they don’t notice, but I’m betting that guests notice.
- 5/5
The hotel staff were very accommodating and kind. There was a random person near/around garage area as soon I informed staff they were right on and removed the individual. The area is quite, our dogs enjoyed their morning walks. 15ish minute drive to mission beach, in&out burger is walkong distance. We would stay again!
- 5/5
The rooms were very clean and spacious. Centrally located.
- 3/5
This area that this property was in didn’t feel extremely safe and it wasn’t walkable. The room itself was very average and smelled bad, like old trash kind of. There were ants on the bathroom counter and in the bathroom sink. Not a ton, but 5-10. The front desk girl was really rude on the phone when I called to ask for a later check out. Overall it would be fine if you were just stopping for a quick night on a road trip or something but I wouldn’t go for a family or couples vacation.
- 5/5
We’re still here I’ll let you know
- 3/5
It was nice but getting older and not as clean as I prefer.
- 5/5
Excellent housekeeping service!
- 4/5
It was a good stay. Only hiccup we had was that when we went to check in there wasn’t a worker in site. No one at the back of the front desk. I waited around for 20 minutes for someone to show up and the guests that were waiting before me had said the front desk had been empty for a good 20 minutes before I got there. That was a little annoying considering we had just driven 6 hours and were anxious to get our room and rest. Other than that it was a good stay ! The breakfast was good variety and the room were clean. The sheets are a little thin and lack quality but overall well worth the price!
- 5/5
Nestled in a great area close to pacific beach and I-5.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay. Even though you’re right in the middle of the busy city and close to freeways you cannot hear a thing in your room. It’s nice that in n out is across the street for a quick meal. Free parking which is not common in the city, breakfast was warm and constantly refilled by attendant. Rooms were clean and updated, lobby and dine in area also all very clean. Overall perfect stay. Hotel matches the pictures. It’s all well kept.
- 5/5
Enjoyable 😉 😉 😉
- 5/5
Its our first time staying here and it was great.
- 4/5
The continental breakfast was bot the greatest kids did bot like anything they had.
- 4/5
Staff was very helpful
- 3/5
Parking is insane. The spots are so small you barely have any room to open your car door. The first night we were there, a homeless guy was wondering around the parking garage and doing things to cars. One of the nice things about the hotel is it is not that far from the beach. If the price was a lot more reasonable, I might stay here again.
- 5/5
Very good service. Location is nice. Parking can be tough. Overall I would highly recommend it.
- 3/5
Breakfast wasn't good. Limited options and it was the same thing every day. Parking was a challenge being that it was located on a hill.
- 2/5
One of the rooms had bad smell like when there is trapped moisture, there were ants in our room . The rooms are very outdated and the pictures are very misleading and probably filtered. The staff was friendly. Good part was it was only one night otherwise I would have left
- 3/5
Breakfast had tepid coffee. Only bread and mini bagels and frozen waffles. Black bananas, instant oatmeal and cold cereal. Rubbery scrambled eggs and sausage. Hard boiled eggs. Every day same crap. Maid made bed but never left coffee packets always had to go to front desk to ask for coffee packets. 4 floors but only one ice machine in garage on second floor. Sad sad sad.
- 5/5
Great. Easy for a over night
- 5/5
Loved it
- 3/5
Hotel was clean, and staff was friendly and accommodating. Ok hotel on a budget. Breakfast was not good at all; dried up scrabbled eggs, rubber sausage, and frozed Belgium waffles you warm up in the toaster. Oatmeal was stale. The Gym was a treadmill, and a recumbent bike, along with a crossover machine. When we returned on our second night, our room smelled like sewage. The hotel was fully booked so we slept with our window open and got a different room the third night.
- 4/5
Okay stay
- 3/5
Outside and surrounding like ghetto
- 1/5
Very bad ……
- 4/5
The staff is not
- 3/5
The room was a little dirty in different areas, the bathroom had random hairs stuck to things like the tissue box, and the toilet paper was 75% used when we checked in and that did not make me feel like we had a clean bathroom and room.
- 5/5
Good hotel. Nice service
- 3/5
The hotel is best described as dingy. The little details of cleanliness were missed. The corners were dusty, the bathroom floor was covered in water spots like it hadn’t been mopped properly, the shower definitely could be cleaner, the toilet paper wasn’t even folded over like you get in every hotel. The staff wasn’t super friendly, not rude to me but I did witness a customer complaint and while he was talking the person behind the counter was texting. The breakfast was pretty sad with very little variety of food. I know I will never stay at this location again and I doubt La Quinta will be in my future either.
- 3/5
The windows were open when we got there. The room snelled bad. I think that is why the windows were open. Expedia this is not an 8 star hotel. More like a 3
- 3/5
The hotel was decent enough. My room was clean and it didn't have any funny smells. They cleaned daily. BUT, the parking was what I did not like. Up top the parking is tight and filled up quickly. The bottom level has more space, but they allowed a man to loiter there. I saw him three different days outta 5. He was sitting on the ground with drug paraphernalia all around him and he was nodding out had slept there overnight. I didn't report him because he didn't bother us, and the camera could clearly see him. He frightened my 10 year old granddaughter though. I had to get up early and move the car if I had to park in the bottom so that she wouldn't see him again. Was a very very disturbing site.
- 5/5
Good stay
- 5/5
The room and service were great. If I have one complaint it would be the breakfast, didn’t match the pictures shown, but still ate as we had a long day ahead. Overall stay was excellent
- 3/5
This hotel is very old and in dire need of an upgrade. The hallways had stained carpet and looked dirty. Our room smelled musty with very old furniture in bad need of a makeover. The hotel location is terrible. The nightly rate was similar to the rate we paid at a Marriott in Orange County that is also rated as a three star, but there is no comparison. The Orange County location is far better in all respects. Would rate this San Diego location as a poor 2- star and cannot recommend it.
- 4/5
It took 4 hours for housekeeping to prepare our 2nd room at check in. we arrived at 3:30 PM and our 2nd room was not available until after 7:30. We spoke to front desk several times to get it available when we finally did. Housekeepng was great after our 1st day.
- 2/5
Staff very pleasant to work with and receptive from front desk to the cleaning personnel. Overall property in good condition. However, the beds were very uncomfortable and it’s been 4 days since my stay and my back still hurts. We rented 2 rooms slept in four different beds, and unfortunately all 4 of us left with bad back pain and it still lingers.
- 3/5
The breakfast was terrible! Management needs to supervise the preparation of meals.Potatoes was served that raw and uncooked. Someone is going to get sick if there is no oversight in the kitchen.
- 4/5
I did not care for the mini fridge temperature or the microwave's lack of power.
- 4/5
The parking structure is small and difficult to park.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Parking can be very compacted.
- 5/5
Keep it up!
- 3/5
The location is up on a hill and off of two busy streets. There is no designated dog relief area. No grass, even a patch of dirt. Just pavement. When I asked at reception where to take my dog, the response was, "Anywhere outside is fine". I've always picked La Quinta because of their pet friendly policy, but this was very disappointing. All in all, our stay was comfortable. Room was clean and staff was friendly.
- 4/5
Would have liked if they told me about the deposit before arriving. Hotel smelled a little musty and had 4 mini pillows instead of regular pillows which was weird. Other than that the stay was alright.
- 3/5
Parking is not suitable for the size hotel.
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
Breakfast could have been better.
- 4/5
Little difficult finding entry to property. Rooms/facility very clean.
- 4/5
Free parking. Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Love it
- 3/5
On the plus side, very convenient location, the staff was very good, the AC was quiet, and the room updated.
- 5/5
Rooms are always clean and comfy.
- 5/5
It was very clean and parking was good.
- 1/5
Breakfast was the worst of any hotel i ever stayed in
- 1/5
I feel like I was catfished. It was not a great experience at all. To top it all off the coffee gave me diarrhea
- 3/5
- Very conveniently located right off of the 5. Was a 15min commute to UCSD campus while we were there. - It's pet friendly! We brought our cat for the trip (his first), and there weren't any issues. It's $25/night extra for the pet. - Hot tub was pretty great to use. It was too cold to hop into the pool, but it's small. The "it's okaaaay": - Breakfast option was limited. Wed and Sat options were biscuits and gravy which was pretty good. Mon - Fri was sausages and eggs only, no bacon :( They had pre-made waffle squares you could toast (square eggos?) - The facilities weren't that bad, but they were definitely aged / been around. - Laundry facilities were okay. $3 for wash and dry, each. There was no coin exchange machine. We happened to have some coins but that'd be nice to have.
- 5/5
Very pleasant experience
- 3/5
Next to a busy street. Odd noise turning on and off, most likely nearby units a/c going on and off. Property was not dirty but mostly very worn. Carpets long overdue for replacement , furniture well used. Last but not least is the parking space or lack of. The designers must believe everyone drives a mini cooper.
- 1/5
First off, I have stayed at many La Quinta properties and have had great experiences. This one was a huge disappointment in many ways. The rooms were disgusting, very dirty. The breakfast was terrible. We ended up having to go out for breakfast. The parking garage was a nightmare with very tight spots and homeless people hanging out all night. We felt very unsafe and will never stay at this place again
- 4/5
We had a pleasant stay. Good price. Close to major highways. Staff are friendly and tool extra of us during our stay. Overall it was a great spot. Parking is hard due to space but otherwise it’s a great experience.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean, quiet, and I had no issues with anything in the rooms or on property. Good experience!
- 3/5
Overall very friendly desk staff, but a very under whelming experience for La Quinta. Firstly the parking conditions are a nightmare, there is limited parking spaces and when the spaces are full guests are advised to park on the side of the street, this obviously leaves the vehicle susceptible to accidents from the very narrow street and possible break ins which of the course the hotel waives all responsibility from. Then on top of that the parking spaces are so narrow and cramped that having an suv like we did made it difficult to navigate not to mention figuring how to leave enough space your car doesn’t get door dinged. Check in was smooth and easy but when we got the room the keys did not work. We let the front desk know and he came up to test the door, turns the key pad was broken as his master key did not work on it either. That was concerning to us because it makes you wonder how long ago was the room actually cleaned. We were moved to a different room and though while clean it was very shabby, the furniture was damaged and walls had holes and the floor was clearly not mopped. The breakfast was “continental” with cereal, oats, boiled egg, bagels , and a premade waffle as an option. The only hot option was dry biscuits with watery gravy and soupy box eggs. Overall this place is only sufficient for short over night stays as quality of the property doesn’t support much else.
- 1/5
The only good thing about our experience was the lady who checked us in. She was pleasant and nice. The place was very smelly and carpet in our room was very dirty. The bathroom sink was clogged, and you had to wait 20 minutes till gets drained.
- 4/5
Hotel is in a great location just off the highway, with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. the beach is just west of the hotel. The hotel is in need of some upgrades, older fixtures, appliances and paint. Only one elevator for entire hotel.
- 4/5
Spa was to small.
- 5/5
Room bathtub needs updated Food was like warm but edible
- 3/5
The room wasn’t clean, hairs in the bathroom and bed
- 3/5
It was good priced however a little hard to fwt to as it's tucked away
- 4/5
Parking wasn’t the greatest
- 3/5
Good Location
- 4/5
Although parking was available, space was tight. Didn't always enjoy having to navigate leaving the propertyl.
- 4/5
We were in and out so it was okay for a night
- 5/5
It was a great stay my kids, wife, and I enjoyed the stay. We recommend it
- 3/5
The hotel was okay, the parking is a bit of a squeeze, and the bathroom wasn’t very clean. We had noisy neighbors.
- 3/5
This property is really old inside and out. Specially the carpets. Smells no good.
- 4/5
Very good location with comfortable room and nice bathroom. Definitely consider coming back on next trip to San Diego.
- 2/5
Our room was dirty, bathroom had a bad smell, very unclean. You get what you pay for. Staff not so friendly, breakfast wasn’t that great.
- 5/5
Convenient to freeway, pool & hot tub the kids loved. To cold out for me. Air conditioner fan clicked on and off all night. Didnt find blackout curtains until we were checking out so all of us were awake as soon as it got light out.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 1/5
Thin walls, we could hear everything from the next room. The room didn’t feel clean
- 1/5
Scary place.
- 5/5
Perfect for my needs. Easy to get around with car. Close to airport. Clean!!!
- 3/5
The house keeping didn’t come when we requested.
- 5/5
Lived it thank you so much
- 5/5
Good hospitality
- 2/5
Old and yuck
- 4/5
Free parking and breakfast. There are two parking lots. The top parking lot is where the front entrance is located, and is usually full by night. We usually parked on the lower level, there is a card carder to access the hotel. We did noticed on two occassions there were homeless people hanging around the lower parking lot. The hotel is clean, and the staff is friendly. Right across the street is In-N-Out. Short drive to San Diego Zoo and Sea World.
- 5/5
affordable and convenient!!!
- 1/5
Found fecal matter and pubic hair in bed
- 5/5
The hotel was great. Staff was very helpful and nice. I didn't like that the parking was so tight and not a lot of it. We were in a large vehicle so we ended up using UBER so we wouldn't have to move the truck. There is really not much around as far as food choices but overall it was a great stay. Beds are very comfortable and the room was very clean and organized.
- 3/5
very clean. breakfast was only served until 9:30 so we didn't participate. Parking is a bear. We rented an SUV that just didn't fit in most sites. Staff is efficient but not friendly. Even though the hotel is located near several busy roads, it was very quiet.
- 2/5
The breakfast was lacking, no ketchup, no fruit except green bananas. The floors in room were dirty around the edges. Shower curtain inadequate, needs to be bigger or two of them, water on floor. Sports teams noisey, goofing off hall way and sprayng soda all over floor, next day floor was very sticky. We called the desk but she was all alone and counldn't do a thing to help. We were located right next to elevator and heard it all night. I booked really early and shouldn't have been given such a room with this bad location!
- 5/5
Clean rooms, very convenient location, near to zoo, sea world
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
The room was clean and the staff was courteous and helpful. The area around the hotel was noisy and somewhat dirty
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was great, the shower was nice, and breakfast was more than enough. Free parking is a plus, but since the garage doesn’t have a door, you might see some homeless people nearby—I’m not sure if they do anything else in there. The staff was nice, and I had no issues. There’s an In-N-Out and McDonald’s about a block away. Not sure about how walkable the area is, but it’s right by the freeway, so you can get almost anywhere in San Diego in 15-20 minutes. I’d definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
We are repeat clients. Been here before. The facility’s ok. The only issue we had was parking. We felt that the lowered level parking was not secure and the upper/lobby level parking is very cramped.
- 5/5
Comfortable bed Definitely will stay at La quinta again
- 5/5
Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
It was dated and sorry. The furniture was dinged up and the carpet was very stained. The neighborhood was not very attractive and the freeway runs right next door. Very basic. Keep your expectations low.
- 5/5
Close to freeway and shopping and Jackie at the front desk was wonderful, made me feel welcome and explained how the parking works because I got lost. Very patient 🙏
- 4/5
Affordable and very convenient access to freeway
- 4/5
Walls are very thin. You hear the showers running, kids jumping on beds above you. They allow dogs in the breakfast area where a patron was feeding her dog bagels from the breakfast bar
- 1/5
We were given a room next to the industrial laundry room which was quite loud. Additionally we’re awoken by loud music playing at 5am. The furniture was in rough shape and location wasn’t ideal.
- 5/5
Nice place! Room a bit dusty but overall decent place
- 4/5
Convenient location, reasonable price
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet.
- 3/5
either outside or next door was very noisy. Loud music and talking til after midnight. and the smell of marijuana got inside our room
- 5/5
Great stay. Yummy continental breakfast. Parking can be a pain in the but however. Would absolutely stay again.
- 5/5
Great value
- 4/5
The staff was excellent. We had a late check-in (10:00pm), and it was not a problem. Also had a very decent free breakfast onsite. This is 3rd or 4th time I've stayed here. I would stay again. The "bad" some of the furniture is worn, and some of our neighbors inside and out were a bit noisy (nothing your staff can do about that). Overall, I would recommend this place.
- 4/5
Nice basic comfort, very clean. Located in unappealing area, but good if you have a car.
- 5/5
My first time staying and will be back to stay again. Clean and very peaceful
- 3/5
I stayed 2 nights for a work trip and only spent time at the hotel to sleep. It was fine for what I needed-which was a safe parking lot as I was out very early and back quite late-and the room was clean. I can't speak to anything else other than the young lady who checked me in was nice and helpful.

Everything was fine as could be expected. Not a fan of the morning breakfast though. They could do better

The room was a very nice king bed. Everything was nice, except the room smelt like an ashtray. It was supposed to have been a nonsmoking room. It was hard to get comfortable with this smell. I checked in late and was tired; otherwise, I would have asked to move.

Comfortable room, but the morning dumpster pick up was very loud outside. The breakfast was just okay, but we were thankful it was offered.

If you’re normal, frugal, no fuss, want a comfortable bed/hot shower over instagramable/ be seen spot; then this fits the bill.

Everything was really good. It was my first time there. It was a little difficult figuring out where the lobby was. The sign is very small.

Not enough parking, not enough soundproofing and lack of attention to details

Stayed with wife and our 2 year old. Everything was clean, service was great.

The inside of the hotel is nice or what to be expected for the price point. There is limited parking however, you get there early or on time you should have no problem securing a parking spot. The area around the property is questionable no sidewalk really it’s kind of squished in between industrial/by the freeway.

Great stay and a clean hotel. Staff was excellent. Parking is tight but free and well lit. Also convenient to all things near the beach at half the price.
