    Just there overnight for a quick stay. Didn't get to use the pool or any amenities. Check in was easy and parking pass was helpful. Can't say much about the decor of the room could use a little help like the light shade was torn and wondered why the table tops were all scarred. Could be really easy to just put a piece of laminate on top. Very basic room very basic price can't complain about that. Look like they've updated the bathroom which was good. Could use a little work.

    Honestly the pictures look to nice, no microwave, looks very very cheap. Not that clean, furniture beat up and old, room smelled like straight bleach. Just not worth the price..... just not the greatest not coming back again

    Hotel is dated. It's obvious they've been working to improve the rooms, but still needs a lot of work. Peeling paint, worn table tops, sloppy paint work, all make it look poor.

    There was not anything i liked. I can say the parking being close to the room was nice. The room was in complete disarray in that every piece of furniture was broken. The chair, the ac unit, the office chair, the table that was supposed to to be a dresser of office desk but was just a broken table. The microwave had rust on it and there was garbage in the room. The police came and pointed there guns right at us as they were extracting a different hotel guest after she had thrown everything out of her room onto my car.

    COCKROACHES!! COCKROACHES!!! Upon arrival to my room I found 3 cockroaches in my bathroom. I shrugged it off and did not see another one… Until the next day, when I felt something crawling on my arm while I was sleeping. Sure enough there was a baby cockroach on my arm. At this point i don’t know if I’m disgusted, pissed off, or both. All the front desk offered was to switch me rooms (as if they’re not in the walls) I didn’t get a sorry or anything. Then the “manager” of the property tells me she will give me a discounted rate on my next stay…ya well what if I didn’t want to come back?! Well, I was curious just how much of a discount she would give me so I checked rates and her “discounted” rate was still higher than some sites online. NEVER STAY HERE!

    I am writing to formally demand an immediate refund for my recent stay at Hotel Iris due to unacceptable room conditions, undisclosed disruptive construction activity, and a complete failure to reasonably address the situation. Upon entering the room, it smelled strongly of smoke. This alone made the accommodations substandard and inconsistent with what any guest should reasonably expect from a hotel stay. I will be more than happy to show you the air freshener receipt I bought to try to remove the smell.  More serious, however, was the construction activity that began next door at approximately 6:54 AM. I have timestamped video evidence documenting loud drilling, sawing, and demolition-related noise while guests were attempting to sleep. This appears to directly conflict with local noise regulations, including: Sec. 36.408. Hours of Operation of Construction Equipment Except for emergency work, it shall be unlawful for any person to operate or cause to be operated construction equipment: (a) Between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Construction activity occurring at 6:54 AM is plainly within the prohibited hours unless it qualified as emergency work, which it did not appear to be. At no point prior to check-in was I informed that disruptive construction would be taking place adjacent to occupied guest rooms. Had this been disclosed, I would never have agreed to stay there.     Disgusting! 3 cockroaches in the bathroom when I first got there. I knew the place wasn’t the best to begin with so I shrugged it off. Then didn’t see another so I rebooked for the next night. That’s when everything changed for me. I took a nap and woke up to a baby roach crawling on me. That was enough. Then I ended up finding 6 more baby roaches in the bathroom area. When I told front desk about it she didn’t offer me anything except “a discounted rate” on my next stay…which she tells me was $138…I go online and find a better room for only $98. Terrible service, disgusting rooms, will never stay here again

    This property is ran down. We paid extra for jacuzzi tub but wasn't able to use it for 2 days due to the fact that ceiling has a leak. The bathroom was covered in water, hey roaches and spiders which my husband got bitten by one. The walls inside were filthy dirty we had no towels or blankets. Had kids running up and down the stairs two or 3:00 in the morning. A lot of drug activities in and out of the hotel. The pictures of the advertise online or phones that is not how the roads look inside. The furniture was outdated and my back is killing me because the bed was horrible. Not only that they came inside the room and we weren't in there and semi tried to clean up the room when we didn't ask them to do so. Once I brought it to management's attention she tried to deny everything. The towels that we have inside of the tub and on the floor was removed so I knew someone been in the room complex. I wasn't accommodated for anything I don't recommend this to anyone. This hotel was designed I believe for prostitution nothing more nothing less

    The rooms are covered in dirty walls and stained sheets with cigarette burned bedding. You also don't know there's a $200 deposit upon check in. I thought normally establishments only keep card on file, this place takes it immediately. The staff aren't friendly upon check in nor check out. The headboard is covered in a sheet. The furniture looks damaged and worn out. The bathroom sink was improvised with a raggedy piece of wood to help stabilize. All in all, just nor cleanly enough

    Unfortunately, my stay was significantly disrupted by a neighbor and their roommate who argued loudly from 9:00 PM until 4:00 AM. Despite the television being at full volume and two dogs barking throughout the night, security was unable to resolve the issue after my calls at 1:30 AM and 4:30 AM. It was clear that these individuals were not concerned with basic social etiquette or the comfort of other guests.

    They were 10min late with our check in. Our neighbors had 2 noisy dogs. I will say when I called to bring that up they had security come. Employees were nice. But the hotel is dingy.

    The place is not like the pictures advertised. You are not getting the quality that the pictures portray. We ended up checking out early, didn’t get any sleep. Everyone around us was living in the hotel and it was loud. 2 guys knocked on our door around 10pm looking for someone. No one slept and I’m sure there was a drug deal outside our room around 2am. The employees at the desk were nice and I’m guessing they know things are out of hand.

    Stayed here 9 years ago, and this was kind of a let down. It has become one of those places that people live at with loud barking dogs, in need of a refresh in the room. I went on the budget and got what I paid for. Please fix the fire alarm from chirping in the morning, not worth any price for that.

    The value of the night was affordable. I didn’t like that the room was dirty and it smelled musty. There was a leak under the sink and a mouse that was half alive roaming under the bed. My poor kids got super scared when they saw the mouse moving across the room. This property used to be clean and nice, I wonder what went bad.

    When I first arrived I noticed a mildew smell and it seemed like the room was not properly cleaned before my arrival. Also the main feature of the hotel room was the Jacuzzi tub which was covered in stains, three different types of tile on the wall indicating plumbing issues. The hot tub drain plug was not attached to the tub and the drain plug provided did not work and could not prevent the water from draining along with several of the tub jets not working made it impossible to use the Jacuzzi tub feature which was the whole attraction of the high priced room. Also during my stay I seem to notice what might be black mold in the bathroom. Also due to the rain the roof of my room was leaking water from the ceiling and onto a table and floor which had my cell phone, tablet and several hats on top of it and underneath it. Needless to say they were all covered in water when I woke up in the morning. And I did not get woken up by my alarm because the water that was leaking from the roof damaged my cell phone. And on top of that my room and maybe all the other rooms possibly lost power so I had no AC or heater no lights no power for the majority of my stay. Parking lot and pool also flooded along with many hotel rooms on the first floor. I could not even call the front desk because they had no phone due to the power. The lots of power and cell phone damage caused me to wake up later than planned and caused me to miss important meeting. This was honestly one of the worst experiences

    The images provided of this hotel are very misleading. The property smells like urine and cigarette smoke. The room we were given smelt like a previous smokers room, felt humid and looked like it was given a landlord special. The entry door looked like it could easily be broken open. There were a lot of odd people walking around the parking lot and most of them were chain smoking inside and outside of hotel rooms. It’s a small sketchy-people-filled hotel in the middle of a bunch of well known chain hotels. Not the best place to stay in San Diego if you have small children and family members with asthma. They wouldn’t refund us for our stay when we decided to take our business elsewhere due to these reasons. You’re better off sticking with a well-known hotel chain and paying more per night if you prefer to breathe well and feel safe sleeping at night.

Upon entering there was a powerful Clorox smell covering up a moldy smell. The front office smells of mold, too. The board under the bathroom sink is rotten and lots of rust and old molding in the bathroom. The towels they provide are minimal in size and quality. We found one huge cockroach , thankfully more. We had a room close to the street and it was loud from traffic. They power washed the upper level right above us leaving a waterfall over the sidewalk. There is a pool but all the pool furniture is broken or unusable. The jacuzzi is not working. This seems like a very old, not very well maintained property.

We went through hell to find another place to stay. I didn’t feel safe. The bed had stains on it. There was a large roach, flies in the room, stains on the bed, the walls and bedding are dirty and the shower had a leak. The trash cans outside were overfilled and full of flies. Overall a 1 star rating, especially for the price. Highly recommend not to ever book here.

    This MOTEL was in between all these big names hotels on Hotel Circle…. But paying for $150 A NIGHT was not worth it! We laid in bed and watched a roach go up the wall.. then it went behind the refrigerator. Moved the refrigerator and there was a cluster of dead and alive roaches! I asked to change our room- They were fully booked. Asked to spray the room while we left for dinner- doesn’t seem anything was done to our room when we came back. Asked for a refund or compensation- they said i went thru a third party so they couldnt help me I WANT MY MONEY BACK! $350 for two dirty nights! I was too afraid to leave my suitcase open! We put everything on the bed whenever we left the room! Never again.

    When I arrive there were two guests in the lobby seeking refunds because they refused to check in to dirty rooms. I got my room and upon entering found it. It cleaned it ready - including literal blood on the walls of the bathroom. I went to the front desk and asked for another room. The second room was just as bad. Both were absolutely filthy. I then went and returned my key. The front desk staff told me I could contact hotels.com and ask for a refund just like the other guests did. When I contacted customer service I was told the hotel has a “no refund policy” and that they would contact the front desk to ask for a waiver. Which aligned with what I was originally told. Once I returned the keys and walked out - the on duty manager refused to allow the refund. She admitted that the rooms were not clean or ready to be issued. She then said that even though there was no rooms ready - I could wait for one to be cleaned with zero indication of when that would be. I politely declined and asked for the refund to be processed since my family would not be staying there. I was told absolutely not and to “take it up with your bank”. So I am. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel - the pictures do not match the actual conditions, the bait and switch is very deceptive. They have a no refund policy because once they get your money - they expect you to just deal with it seeing as how neither their management, customer service, or hotels.com will help you if you decide not to stay

    This was the tip of the iceberg of issues stemming from poor maintenance. There was a hole in the floor cold air was coming out of, and the tile kind of gave when you stepped on it. There were cigarette burns and drywall patches everywhere. The toilet rocked when you sat on it. The wood furniture had stains. The hot tub outside was boarded up. The ice machines were by the outdoor pool, and looked dirty. Amenities were hit and (mostly) miss. There was a refrigerator, a microwave, and basic cable in the room, but not much else. I didn’t know how much I would miss bad hotel art until I was staring at a bleak blank wall. Climate control was a smelly wall A/C unit, and the blankets were thin. I can sleep on a rock, so I can’t attest to how the mattress was. I found myself missing things like tissues and convenient trash cans you would find at any other motel. It was also loud. Some people were getting in their car and yelling all night. We could also hear people in rooms around us, and housekeeping vacuuming.

    When I arrived, I was driving a U-Haul and it would not fit under the awning for hotel Iris so I had to go inside of the Marriott parking lot and go all the way up and around into the Iris parking lot… The guy at the front desk was helpful.     This place has a lot of homeless around the area. Every time I left my room someone always asked me for change or in one case a socket wrench. Also every night someone kept knocking on our door asking to come in. There was a dead spider and another bug in the middle of the bathroom. The tub had a rag in it stuffed in the drain, and whenever we took a shower water got all over the floor, which if you don't lay a towel beforehand you will slip like I did, the tile they use has no grip. The desk had paint on it and the drawer handle was missing on one of the drawers there was what I can only assume was chocolate (didn't further investigate this) on the floor.dropped an earbud behind the nightstand and when I went to move it I found someone else's piercing (possibly belly button) another thing to mention when we first entered the room it reaked of weed we kept trying to get the smell out but couldn't. Also be aware that they charge $100 deposit and $11.95 per night "service fee" I didn't receive any service during my stay. Also the hotels home page at the time that I booked, mentioned no service fees and as per SB 478 and AB 537, they are to have full transparency with any and all fees included in a guest's stay. That being said the only positive aspects of this place is the jetted bath tub and the front desk staff the gentleman who checked me in was nice and polite same goes for the young lady who checked me out she was also informative when I asked about the $34.95 charge.

    Had car issues and needed a place to stay for the night since it was too late to drive. Found this place on hotels.com and made reservation online. First, guy who checked me in barely spoke English and it was very difficult to understand his accent. Then he told me there was a $100 deposit that I wasn’t made aware of when I made the reservation. He gave me my key and when I went to the room the key wouldn’t work. I had to wait for him to come see what the problem was. The property wasn’t well lit and there were a lot of suspicious individuals roaming around which made me worried for my safety, so I waited for him in my car. When he got there he opened the room with his key and sure enough the rm had obviously been used and not yet cleaned. I had to get back in my car and drive to the reception again so he could give me another rm. This time the key worked, thank God, because it had gotten very late and I was exhausted and starving (no food available at hotel, not even a vending machine or snacks). Rm smelled so musty it made me nauseous. I turned on the AC and good thing I was carrying an essential oil that I put on the vent to freshen up the room. Rm was clean enough but definitely old and in need of updating. Didn’t trust taking a bath in their jet tub; who knows if they disinfect well. Made extra sure all locks worked and moved desk in front of the door. I could hear people passing by all night so I barely slept and felt very unsafe. Maybe drug deals happening? Want $ back

    Checked in, asked about the pool and hot tub, there wasn’t a hot tub like they claim, get to the room and it smells, the sheets are dirty, remote and tv don’t work, we were given two towels for four people and an additional deposit for this crap hole upon arrival. Don’t recommend!!!

    This place is a dump. It’s nothing like the pictures show. The furniture is in bad shape. The wood floor was broken.The tub was dirty and it had hair in it. There is a lot of people walking around the parking lot in the middle of the night. Did not feel safe.

    There was dried up blood stains on the bed and shower tub. There was about 100 nat flies flying around. It was absolutely disgusting. I ran out of there. I walked in the room and left. The room was gross.

    And to top it all off my room reeked of chlorine that became apparent was used to try and hide the HEAVY smell of cigarette smoke. Burn holes on the curtains as well. If youre on a steep budget, then i guess this is your best best. Free parking which is nice. Other than that I think I'll just save some more money for a better place next time.

    This property is super dirty. Even had roaches. I couldn’t see myself sleeping in the bed. So we left after an hour. Rooms don’t look nothing like pictures. Smelled horrible as well. I got catfished.

The tv had bugs coming out the back, hole in ceiling, bed ruffle stained, chair cut and no stuffing, microwave so gross, floor disgusting several stains, drugs, prostitution, room smelled like animal and strong pot smell. Front office was smokey from pot and cigarettes, signs about trafficking. I left and contacted hotels.com. Also ask for them to take it off site.     The stair was fine. The thing I had a problem with was I was charged $100 cleaning/security deposit when I checked out the guy said that he had returned it and I have yet to receive any return from the hotel or hotels.com so I need somebody to tell me how to resolve this.

    The room was not clean, it had a bad odor I had to buy a lysol and put all over the room, there were insects in the bathroom, no trashcan in the room or the bathroom, the furniture was damaged and the restroom wall like they made some repairs and they look unfinished, very bad experience… there were also people like living in the room nextdoor and we could smell cigar odor all night…and a lot of noise.

    Completely outdated, I felt like I was catfished. The room looked nothing like the pictures shown here. The shower had no shower handle, no curtain when we used the shower the bathroom looked more like a wet room bc water was everywhere. The parking smells like urine. I was very disappointed

    We arrived right at check in time; were asked to wait 45 minutes for our room. Finally the former “guest” vacated with several large totes and bins and a police escort. THEN the carpet shampoo guy went in THEN cleaning staff. The room was rundown, very stinky and not that clean. The beds were uncomfortable and felt and smelled damp. The shower is a safety hazard—the bathtub floor literally moves under your feet causing immediate dizziness. Finally, the outside/landscaping was also rundown—there was a used syringe right outside our door.

    This Hotel is by far the worst Hotel experience my employees had. I rented 4 room for 1 night and it was so bad my employees couldn't stay the night. There were cockroaches all over the Hotel rooms. It smells very bad and very musty. When I called to the front desk to make a complain I was told there is no housekeeping and they hung up on me twice. My employees had to pay additional $10 per room, not sure why if it was paid in full.

    Sunday while I was trying to rest, the grounds keepers came and trimmed and leaf blowed for 2+ hours Although the clientele was not great, that's not a huge deal. The cops were called and arrested someone in the parking lot, blocking the entrance in or out of the hotel. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had.

    I stayed at this hotel back in 2018. It was decent at that time, since then it has gone down hill. They need to do some major upgrades to stay competitive with other hotels in that area; otherwise I would never stay there again.

    I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone. The place is so run down, and looks more like a low end apartment complex that have really rough people hanging around. The supposedly non-smoking room smelt like nothing else but old cigarette smell and dust. The room was in terrible condition, and the front staff was not pleasant to deal with at all. We did not even end up staying in the room and left right away. Save yourself the time, money, and disappointment by going elsewhere.

    I’ve stayed here many times and never got a room like this. There’s no art design or drawing on the wall, purple accent sheets did not exist. My room had a conjoin door with the room next to me. I could hear the conversation from the wall next to me, I’m sure they were able to hear me as well. Horrible experience, are they under new management? Plus I was charged $100 for what? They never gave me a reason!

    I’ve stayed here a few times in the past. Every time I stay I get a different room with different weird things. This time my bathroom!!!! It was a jacuzzi tub with a shower head…..no curtain. In the past I’ve had TVs not work or uncomfortable beds….i don’t know why I keep coming back, but I think this was my last stay at hotel iris.

My second room the toilet was loose and I thought it was going to fall over. The mattress was lumpy. The other people staying in the hotel were strange and loud. This is a very bad hotel

    NO maid service, despite the fact that I put out the Maid Service Requested card. When I spoke to the desk staff all I got was vague assurances that the room would be looked at. That and a post-it note with the promise of a jacuzzi room at half price during my next stay. Right. No letter head, no name of who gave it to me, nothing to indicate that this was a legit offer. No discount or other remuneration was offered to make this right. The room did not feel safe, was not cleaned during my stay, and looked like the leftovers from a bad rental agreement. Seriously disappointing in every way. Will not be staying with you again.

    Hotel did not have hot water. I was told ro contact Hotel.com to get credit. Hotel.com did not respond to my email. The only response from Hotel.com was to contact my local hotel. Hotel.com is quick to take your money but if there's a problem with your reservation you won't get any help. The local hotel did what they could. I reserve a suite with jetted tub. Shortly after I made reservation the local hotel called and told me there was no hot water. They said they could not issue credit and that any credit would come from Hotel.com since reservation was made through them. Hotel.com contact was through online chat from which I got no response. The local hotel switched us to a regular room with hot water but at a lower rate. Hotel.com did not respond to any of my inquiries. When you click on the "help and support" it refers you back to local hotel. The local hotel took care of the room situation on their end but Hotel.com didn't take care of credit on their end. Hotel.com only works if there are no issues. If anything abnormal happens Hotel.com is no help. There's no phone number to talk directly to a real person. Everything is online where they can blame things on computer. I will never use Hotel.com again. I'm going to tell everyone I know that Hotel.com is no reliable. It's better to contact hotel directly to make reservation. That way you can contact the hotel reservation desk and solve the problem. My hotel manager was very helpful and available throughout the whole process
