Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Mission Valley/Zoo

I typically don't write reviews but this was the first place we've stayed at where the service was really underwhelming. We had a family of 6 staying at the hotel and requested extra towels. We initially used what the room had given no problem but when we requested for more towels the next day a staff member said they would bring it to the room. That staff member then proceeded to go home and we never received new towels. No big deal we figured we'd follow up later. At night we came back and again reiterated that we needed towels to which the front desk replied I'll see what I can do but we have no staff just me tonight. I also let that staff know that even though we were paying for parking we had to park on the street because the parking lot was full. The following morning at breakfast in the lobby area, there was a staff member named Alyssa, who was asked nicely if she could refill the water stations for the guests. She replied back "ok" and proceeded to stand back against the wall and chat with other servers. She did not refill the water until towards the end of breakfast roughly 30 minutes later. I'd understand if they were busy but she stood against the wall the whole time. Maybe to some these might be small things but I like to think in pretty understanding even in underwhelming conditions but the service was just poor. Staff were very unresponsive and we won't utilize this hotel again.

I had a broken shower handle in my room. I accidentally grab onto it thinking it was secured but it was not and I slipped and fell. Notified the staff and they said they was to send someone to fix it but nothing ever happened or follow up

What made the experience even more frustrating was being told to remain in the same room because they had supposedly “changed the carpet” within just a few hours. Please be honest with your guests — it is hard to believe carpet replacement could happen that quickly. Instead of transparency and proper accommodations, we felt dismissed and misled. Unfortunately, this experience caused unnecessary stress for our family, and we expected much better customer service and honesty.

Good value for a lowkey stay and was very good with our toddler. Separate living area made nighttime easy - she would sleep and we would be in the living area watching tv. Breakfast is included, and coffee and tea are avail all day and night which is great! Cleanliness of the room was great, no complaints. Bed and pillows were comfy and AC was cold water pressure of the shower head wasn’t that great but it’s okay. Over two days, I noticed that some trash (bottle caps and receipts) weren’t picked up by housekeeping. So I picked them up and put them in the trash. One room left their breakfast plates and mugs out of their door and it stayed there for two days. No staff retrieved them. If staff do not retrieve those items, it should be communicated to guests. Other than that, it was a great stay and would stay here again if I visit San Diego.

Very good the only thing is they can even give me free parking I stay 3 nights 4 rooms pay for parking over 300 just for parking is crazy

The facility was very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this place over and over again.

The entire hotel is really nice but also needs very minor details taken care of to give the 4-5 star experience. Small things like broken outlet, loose tile in bathroom, missing cover to key entry on room door, the lighting in the bath and bedroom is very poor. BBQ knobs are stuck and had difficulty using it. The Fromt desk staff on more than one occasion when asked them to address one issue or another responded with “I honestly don’t know. They don’t let us leave the desk” this person easily could have simply said “let me get the right person to help you”

The couch also had a fold-out bed which was really handy for extra space. The free breakfast was actually fresh and had tons of options to pick from. Definitely a solid stay!

The hotel is nice, however the shower in our room had wads of hair on the wall and pubic hair on the floor. I had to clean the bottom of the shower myself so I can quickly bathe my toddlers after a long day at sea world. I spoke to the front desk as we were checking out and they did not provide any assistance, discount, or refund. It made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room and I will most likely not be staying at this hotel again as I do not expect to have to clean the room myself when I check in. We had already dragged all our stuff inside the room, unpacked and had two screaming toddlers by the time I noticed the shower which is why I decided to just clean it myself instead of asking for a room change and having to move everything again. However any assistance would have been better than just saying “oh im sorry about that”. I have a photo as well of the hair on the wall. On a better note the location is convenient with easy access to freeways and shops.

I liked the variety of options, including a good selection of fresh fruit, and I always love a waffle maker! There was a decent fitness center, and a lounge with a pool table was an unexpected bonus We were disappointed not to have a hot tub

Well I would love to give a better review but we booked and paid for a ADA room because my husband is an amputee and is not yet able to use a prosthetic. They did not have an ADA room nor did their sister hotel. This meant my husband was unable to shower. There was no compensation and we had no option to cancel and go elsewhere. The parking situation for handicapped vehicles was also very little. The only space we could find was at the back door which you could only use once you had a key so multiple parking moves. There was a nice breakfast bar and coffee and tea available 24 hours. Afternoon staff on checkin was nice and tried to help. I had to talk to the morning desk person and she was incredibly rude! Definitely didn’t feel like Hilton service.

The breakfast was good with a good variety. Just didn't like that they charged $27.00 to be able to park on the lot for the hotel.

Breakfast was mid, first day they served waffles but were out of syrup. Dinner was great but wish I knew ahead of time that they served it.

This location was seemingly clean and organized. Check in was quick and easy. Family friendly, and generally quiet stay. Enjoyed the morning included breakfast. Room was spacious and love the kitchenette. Some parts of the room looked run down. No room service for a 2 night stay.

I paid a premium price expecting better from Homewood Suites. Instead, I found a used, damp cleaning towel with holes in it left on my bed by housekeeping. This wasn't a fresh bath towel – it was clearly a rag used for scrubbing surfaces, and it was sitting right where my head would go. I immediately told the manager. Their response? They did nothing to resolve the issue. No apology, no discount, no room change. They simply said they would "bring extra bed sheets" – as if the problem was a missing sheet, not a biohazard left on my pillow area. A dirty, hole-ridden cleaning rag on the bed is disgusting. A manager who dismisses it is unacceptable. I did not receive the basic cleanliness or customer service I paid for. Would I return? Never. Stay elsewhere.

Breakfast was convenient but just okay. Parking is not free. It’s $27 a night or you have to park site or on the street for free where there was several homeless people walking around and sleeping.

We were a party of 5, and had forks enough for 3. The pillows are flatter than the beds .

We loved the location as it was close to zoo, Balboa Park, Old Town and an easy drive. Parking was the only challenge as the spaces as small but we always found a space. It is awkward that most of the spaces in front are for Benihana or valet. I wish parking was included and not an extra charge.

Staff was great. Parking was good and close. Place was wonderful. My only issue was.. the bed was really mid. Food was great. I have no issues besides the bed really was .. ehh. Sheets were clean, but pillows and bed seemed budget which was strange compared to everything else. Squeaky and seemed like a spring bed from the 90s.

Rooms were not clean at all. Couch was stained and ripped. Flooring and walls had spills and splatters. Room extremely dusty. Pool we were told was heated and it was not. Pool chairs & exterior stained and dirty. Housekeeping every other day.

The hotel itself was very nice. Clean, staff was great. But, the outlets in the bedroom did not work. Everything had to plugged in the kitchen. Only a slight inconvenience. Overall stay was good.

Front desk Gloria was a gem. Sweet, informative, and quick check in considering how late we arrived. We stayed in the queen studio, it was spacious, full kitchen, shower, sofa bed, it was a good size where you didn’t feel everything was close. Definitely a good layout. Breakfast was delicious, different items each day, fulfilling and something for everyone. They also serve dinner, we didn’t try since we were out all day but good to know. Dog friendly, only down side is they didn’t have a location for your down to handle business in property. I would definitely stay here again.

Building is old, was missing accessible bar in our shower we had to ask for our room to be cleaned and clean towels, trash was always over flowing by the elevators

The parking shock 😳 $27 and then you have to pay zoo parking now too … $16 so, not sure if it’s worth it money wise. The parking garage $27 had rats in it. I think the parking is way over priced and you really have no choice if you want a smooth trip because they share spaces with Benihana restaurant and the street parking is full.

Not much! The rooms were fairly clean but all furniture was outdated. Front desk showed little interest in us at check in. The room had a huge blower in front of our door which was drying a leak next door! Smelled of mildew. Bed in room was broken ( old bed) and outlet were all loose and didn’t hold a standard plug. Room smelled like weed and cigarettes most of the time that we were there.

Awful customer service, there was an issue with the room that the staff said we would be compensated for, even with giving us Hilton points for the future, which never happened. They lied to us to get us to go away, and ruined our vacation as a result. There are many hotel options in San Diego, do not patronize this one.

Lovely staff, good breakfast. I liked that they had coffee 24/7. I could not get my heater to work. I would turn on the heater and cold air would come on.

Location was great! The breakfast was pretty decent I have never had chicken sausage before it was different. The last day we were there they had sausage patties and hash browns which I really enjoyed.

The rooms were clean and bright. Staff politely and knowledgeable. I couldn’t connect to the WiFi in my room.

No one came to clean our rooms. I asked the staff she said we were not on the list and then she said she would has her manager but no one ever came.

First night they told us they over sold the suites so they put us in a studio instead of the one room suite but changed us to a bigger one the next day. Good breakfast and the happy hour in the evening was great. Housekeepers were great

1. Door from living room to bedroom kept on opening and in spite of complaining for the same almost every day, they didn’t bother to fix it. 2. Mattress was very weak for any back support. Again they did not bother to fix it inspite of written complaint. 3. Room dishwasher was leaking all the time when in operation mode - they fixed the leak once but it again did so the next time it was turned on. 4. Breakfast was worst - fruits and Oatmeal were not re-filled after they finish the first time. So good luck getting anything if you go after an hour of breakfast start-time (even though it is well before the breakfast end-time)

The parking spaces are ridiculously tight around the hotel, that once you park, you can’t open the doors! Plus, there was additional charge per night for parking, which was not expected. The breakfast kitchen is utter chaos with things placed around in no proper order and people literally walking over one another to get an item! The kitchen staff were always so rude and had no interest to listen to what people needed. Very rude to kids as well when they asked anything. All food gets over 15-30 mins prior to closing time and they don’t bother to refill on time. If you ask for refills, they either shrug and say no since they are about to close, or refill with a completely new item, where everyone again plays tug of war to get it! Felt like a low budget kitchen show! The rooms were spacious and beautiful but aren’t maintained well. Our kitchen had a heavy stench and i had to boil coffee and later buy a room freshener and keep near the sink to get rid of the smell. Our bathroom sink could not drain water, so there was water backing up and filling the sink any time we opened the pipe, which was gross and yucky! I never felt clean coming out of there! Our room telephone lines weren’t working either! For the price we pay for Homewood Suites, this was an extremely poor experience. Homewood Suites in other locations are way better. So this location needs to up its game!

The rooms were clean. Housekeeping was wonderful. They were very helpful with towels, etc.. I like the fact that it was very close to San Diego zoo. And close to the valley mall. We are looking forward to staying there again very soon.

Our first impression was with the night staff it was one younger lady and she was not knowledgeable nor friendly. This hotel cleans rooms every other day which is insane to me. Breakfast is very poor not a lot of variety especially with children. Over all I don’t think I will go again

Very good location, easy access to several restaurants in the area. Zoo, Balboa Park, Bay, all within a few miles. Parking charge of $26 per day for quests was very high. King rm was very large including kitchen, But King mattress needed replacing, was sinking on one side, and made loud noise like broken springs.

Fast internet, food was good, everything was clean. curtains had some tears ,parking was easy and an Asian restaurant was in the parking lot, so I ordered food and walked over. there were homeless tents by the freeway, but i never saw anyone and felt very safe and peaceful. shopping centers were 3 minutes away in 3 different directions. I plan on staying here again.

There was a single hair in the sink, but that was no big deal. The outlets by the beds are worn out. The plugs won't stay in, we had to use the usb. But they don't have usb c so we couldn't use the chargers by the bed. We called for extra pillows and they had none, they were locked in housekeeping and the night staff had no key. The breakfast sausage was wet. The tortillas were hard on one side. All of this is nit picky stuff. Overall it was great.

Room was big enough and very clean

The hotel and rooms were perfect. What made the stay exceptional was Samantha. She went above and beyond to welcome us to the property and provided excellent care for myself and family. Will definitely stay here again especially if she’s still there.

The staff are responsible and polite. However, the hotel is quite old. The sofa is worn out, and the mattress on it feels like the springs are about to poke through the fabric. There is some mold in the bathroom. Breakfast is typical, nothing special — like in most hotels. Overall, it’s okay for a short stay, but the price doesn’t match the quality. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the zoo

"immediately." I packed back up, and I realized their immediately not the same as mine, and had to take my meeting in the smelly room. At 3:20, I was able to move. The new room had a broken lock that kept locking me inside, and a toilet seat that with a surface that was peeling and decayed, and a bathroom door that could not open all the way because the floor was uneven. They replaced the lock and toilet seat, and I stayed in this room. The maintenance person was very nice, however the front desk staff acted like this was not a big deal at all. For the two night stay, I paid $510.96. Note they still charged me the $50 for the very inconvenient "early check-in" to a urine-smelling room. This location also charges a $26/day parking fee, $22.68/day for something called a "transient occupancy tax," and a total of $3.91/day for the San Diego TMD fee and CA Tourism fee. This hotel is not a good choice when there are many others nearby.

Large clean comfortable rooms with free coffee all day long in the lobby and free breakfast everyday. We stay here anytime we’re in the mission valley area.

Convenient to SeaWorld and the zoo. Parking can be difficult as it’s shared with Benihana’s. The room we were in had a very loud air conditioning unit.

We booked a 2 queen handicap roll in shower. Called and confirmed earlier in the day that we would be in late but still coming. Arrived and the gave us a king non handicap room. When we complained at the desk the staff member said take it or leave it and refused to speak to us any further because we complained that they gave our room away. We tried to explain we have 3 people and and handicap person that needed the roll in shower. She told to talk to the manager in the morning but there nothing she can do and to not speak to her any further. She also told us it was $65 to park on property while the website said $26. She told us to park on the street. I have never been treat so badly at a Hilton property. Also the bed was hard as a rock. My handicap spouse wasn't able to shower because it was not and ADA shower. NEVER AGAIN staying here

Stayed for a week. Had suite with 2 queens and a pull out sofa. Great location. Close to Target, TraderJoe’s shops and restaurants. Clean rooms although room service is every second day and bedding isn’t changed. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. Pull out sofa was not comfortable. My teenage son had terrible sleeps. It was very warm while we were there and AC had a hard time keeping up. The breakfast is very repetitive and many things are out after the first hour. Tea and coffee available 24hrs. Manager reception with light meal and beer Mon/Tues/Wed. Downstairs is an adequate gym with treadmills, elliptical and weights, a game room and a laundry with 2 washers and 2 dryers (3.00$ for each)

This location is across parking lot from Beni Hanna's so if you want a nice dinner it's convenient. Maid's & staff very friendly. Asked front desk for late check out day before and they told me no so I don't know if I should have asked for late check out when I booked my trip instead. We did laundry on site in basement so very convenient for extended stays and they had a machine near front desk to get quarters for laundry. Only thing they didn't have was a hot tub/ jacuzzi

The only thing that made me rate it a 4 was the room wasn't ready at 4 and because we were traveling with 2 toddlers that was unacceptable.

Room was nice except the carpet in the room was sticky, and mattress was very uncomfortable. We did not sleep well.

The parking didn’t have to park outside the hotel it’s inside the building I felt safe going down the elevator to my car ! I also loved the breakfast and how everything is close by like restaurants, dining places, and shopping stores around literally just a mile or 2 away !

Excellent property!!! Everything was great about our stay. It was a family outing and the suite was perfect for us all. The boys loved the breakfast and the pool and we enjoyed our privacy. The location was also close to the freeway so it was easy access to get on the road.

Great place to stay. The proper Was top notch and very nice. Luxury feel. 24hour coffee was my fave. Breakfast was great too. There is a bbq next to the pool available for cooking which is a plus.

Extremely clean What a world of difference it was to have separate sitting area and kitchen (a full kitchen) and the bedroom suite and vanity area. I am extremely impressed and when given the chance will be staying again. Family girls trip was a sucess thanks to the Homewood suites

Food quality, service, and selection was below average

The property do not have daily housekeeping, so that is certainly a negative point. Some of the staff members are rude, which makes an impact if you are travelling with family.

The suite was good sized, but our AC was broke from the time we arrived. We had to have them come 3 times before they decided it needed to be replaced but couldn’t be done until we checked out. It was humid and stagnant in the room because, of course, the windows can’t be opened either. We got the suite for the pullout for our kids, but they were forced to sleep on the floor around our bed because the room had a ceiling fan, which allowed some type of relief from the stickiness in the air. The bathroom had an ant problem as well, so they woke up with ants on their sheets. And let’s not get started on the parking. It is $26 dollars a night and like being in the hunger games. If you are lucky enough to find a spot, don’t leave again because it will be gone and you will be forced to park on the street about a mile away because even the street parking is taken. It was pretty much an awful back to school trip for the kids. This place needs to figure some things out! But, the staff was super friendly and there is continental breakfast which is always nice.

The receptionist was welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was well attended. The room (306) however, was really cold upon our arrival so I turned up the thermostat and also noticed a smell that could have been carpet cleaner solution. The rest of the room was clean, it was until I pulled out the sleeper sofa that we noticed a faint urine smell. As the room began to warm up a bit the urine odor got stronger. My husband and I spent the night on sleeper sofa so our grandchildren would not have to be breathing in the urine odor. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sleep through the night since the smell got stronger. I didn’t call the receptionist since I was told housekeeping staff left at 9pm. and switching rooms would have been a hassle since our grandchildren had already fallen asleep. I do regret my decision of just dealing with the smell through the night. Upon check out, I did inform the front desk receptionist about the urine odor, she politely apologized, however, I do hope that the room gets a deeper cleaning so to avoid any more guests deal with such issues. I’m aware that your company allows pets in the rooms and hopefully you can do a better job in making sure the rooms are clean and odor free. Thank you

We had to change rooms because things were broken in the first one. Holes in the furniture and curtains. The second room was similar to the first. It was fine. I just think a little overpriced for location and condition of the rooms. Breakfast was delicious and room service is only every other day, which I can appreciate. We were only there two days so no room service.

The customer service was really good at the property.

This hotel is in within a 20 minute driving distance to most popular attractions around San Diego. It is not walkable, though. Lots of amenities like Target, Trader Joe's and restaurants are nearby. The hotel room itself was fine except for the two interior doors not working properly. The one dividing the rooms was so loose it would not close and the one on the bathroom required immense strength to close. The breakfast is available with a lot of options, but the eggs and meat selection were ok. Overall a fine option for families, but could be a little better.

I used to stay there several times in the past. Spacious and clean rooms. The desk staff is nice. The change to the past is that room was more quite anymore. There was a noise around midnight from the upper room, dog barking in the morning, repeatedly. The staff shouting to each other on the breakfast area in the morning, the breakfast man even whistling almost every morning in the breakfast area....

I chose this Homewood Suites for its good ratings and location centrally located. It is close to a freeway entrance and made it easy to get around San Diego. However, I have to comment that the walls for our room were so thin, that the noise level coming from the adjacent rooms next to us and above us was unbearable. I am a relatively light sleeper, so hearing people walk around above us and the conversations and activity next door to us made it very difficult to get any rest while in the room. I noticed the issue as soon as we checked in and quickly ask the front desk staff to change rooms, but unfortunately they said the hotel was all booked and basically gave me the shrug and "there is nothing we can do" comments. I was hoping it was an isolated incidence of noise, but it didn't let up the entire time of our stay. I don't think we were alone either in dealing with the thin walls as I noticed a nearby resident also standing outside his door trying to determine where the noise he was experiencing was coming from. The problem is that all the walls are too thin. Noise was coming from above us and around us. I think this is a fatal flaw for anyone considering staying at this hotel. When you have many families traveling to this destination and trying to enjoy themselves (which I don't fault), but the rooms are so poorly constructed that I could literally hear what people are saying (no privacy), we ultimately checked out a night early because it was so bad.

Amenities looks good in the pictures. But it wasn't as advertised. Lights on the living area inside the room is not working, kitchen doesnt have enough bowls in the kitchenette. No towels by the swimming pool. But the ladies in the front desk both checking in and out were the sweetest and very friendly.

Very friendly staff upon checking in. Quiet, clean atmosphere. Once inside room: very stiff and uncomfortable sofa in sitting area, padding on chairs was so worn out you sank into chair, cheap very thin toilet paper in bathroom. Breakfast in morning didn’t get any better. Too expensive for amenities!!

Great area to stay in just 15 minutes or less from downtown

The beds and linens were not great. The mattresses are past due for replacement and the linens were jokingly called prison blankets during our stay. The room was quiet enough and the room had plenty of space. The pool was unheated and tiny, but we were expecting that based on reviews. The breakfast was great and the service was good throughout our stay.

Parking could be better.

The hotel was great-close to everything, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast was great. The parking situation would be my only complaint, nightly parking charge. This should be included in the nightly rate, in my opinion.

This place is amazing we arrived pretty late at night when we went into our room notice the stove was not working I informed the front desk and immediately they moved us to another room any also they gave us a courtesy discount from our parking fees for the inconvenience love this place will definitely visit again

Room was spacious enough. Sinks hardly drain. Parking is a joke. Pay $26 per night yet there are no spots to park. Spent over an hour waiting to park. 2 cribs were not in room as requested. They brought them then forgot a mattress. Had to wait for that too.

2 queen bedroom is huge, the separate living space w couch was great. But family member said the pull- out bed was very uncomfortable, so just slept on the couch. Bathroom also huge, it was clean but the wall paper was peeling off, needs updates. The parking lot also is big and busy, fyi you can park on the street overnight instead of paying parking fee. Also dont let the photos fool you. The pool is lame and breakfast not good, just basic. But over all, good for the price and location close enough to the university.

Overall, this property was decent. I was surprised at check in that I had to pay a parking fee - my fault for not reading everything or remembering but I still think it’s a rip off for any hotel to charge for parking. We were told by the very pleasant woman who checked us in that if we could find street parking then I could turn the pass in and there would be no charge. We immediately left after we dropped our bags off and when we returned we found street parking. We turned in the pass. This receptionist looked at my husband like he had three eyes and said well, you will need it tomorrow. So we said if we did need the garage we would come and get the pass. But again, because we arrived later in the day we found street parking. So, guess what? I was still charged for parking. So annoying. At the time of this review I’m still waiting to see what charges are going to hit my credit card. I hope the third receptionist did right by us and removed the charges. If they did, we will return as we visit San Diego quite frequently. If not, there are plenty of other hotels to try out.

The property was in a wonderful location The food was Amazing, but the customer service was terribly, we were staying for two nights, the room wasnt cleaned and we requested for some toiletries, which were even not delivered, the sliding door of the bedroom was very hard to close, we told the management and nothing was done.Apart from that the room was very spacious and accodmodative

This is a beautiful hotel with very nice amenities. We enjoyed the full breakfast each morning, as well as the reception on Monday night.

We stayed on the 3rd floor and found ants everywhere—on the sofa bed, both beds, kitchen counter… it was disgusting. When I told the front desk, they weren’t even surprised, which tells me they knew about the issue but still gave us the room. Totally unacceptable. The hotel is also noisy in the mornings and the breakfast is very basic. The receptionist offered a one-night refund as compensation, but we NEVER received it. This feels like a total scam. Shame on Homewood Suites for the poor hygiene, dishonest service, and lack of accountability. We’ll be reporting this to Hilton and the authorities.

The rooms were nice and it was very comfortable after a long day of walking around SeWorld. The breakfast the next day was wonderful. I would definitly stay here again.

It was okay if you just need to sleep and get in you car and drive. The sheets smelled bleach. The gym has no fan, very warm, and no sanitizing wipes. The personal covering breakfast was rude.

The location was convenient. The original suite was located under loud mechanical equipment on the roof. When we asked to be moved, they only had a suite with two queen beds. The sliding door to the bathroom would not lock. The breakfast offering was somewhat unusual; carnitas? Coffee was good.

Me & my family loved it. It was nice, clean & spacious. Loved the full size fridge & provided kitchenware. Had an incident where one of the kids clogged the toilet & the front desk had someone up to our room within 10 minutes. Outstanding service, will definitely stay here again in the future.

We love staying at homewood suites in mission valley. It’s centrally located, about a 15 minute or less drive to all our favorite spots in San Diego. They also have great coffee service at all times of the day.

We hqd an issue with the light flashing on the smoke detector. We called the front desk, and Sam had helped us immensely with the situation. She suggested covering it with a sticky note and provided the sticky note. Sam also made us new keys to see about moving to another room to see if that would possibly be better. She helped us immensely and was extremely accommodating. One of the best experiences ive had staying at a hotel.

Our stay at homewood suites was comforting. It was exactly what we were looking for to suit our family. The room was clean and up kept. The complimentary breakfast provided was a nice and had a lot of options.

Great place to stay with easy parking. They had appetizers in the evening. Pool was heated. BBQ grills needed an update and to be cleaned. The area is not what it uses to be. Its a little dirty and has a homeless issue. Still close to seaworld. Great pet friendly hotel

Honestly I was a little worried at first sight considering the area that surrounds the hotel looks kinda sketchy, but the hotel itself was very nice. The suite was perfect for what we needed for our short trip to San Diego- great location, had a large fridge in room, a bath tub for our little one, and morning breakfast. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. A nice surprise was that the hotel offers an evening reception with complementary appetizers and drinks, and the server during this time was great and very personable. Food wasn’t really ever hot, but still very nice to have that option provided for us.
