Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. The breakfast is also a highlight for many guests. However, there are frequent complaints about the outdated decor and furniture, as well as issues with the HVAC system being noisy or not working properly.

Plug in kitchen dead. Couldn’t make coffee. Lamp in living room dead. Tv remote needs replaced. Shower drains slow where it’s half full in 5 minutes. Sausage and scrambled eggs were worst I’ve had in years.

We stayed on the first floor and the hallway smelled was so bad. It was as though guests had urinated throughout the hallway. The staff couldn’t do anything and were aware of the issue. They could not offer me other rooms because they were all sold out. I wished they would have called me ahead of time to let me know there was a maintenance issue and I would have tried to find another place to stay. Instead we had to deal the entire weekend with the horrible smell by putting towels on the bottom of the floor opening but the smell was even coming through the ventilation. We had to be out of the hotel as much as possible to avoid the smell and couldn’t even enjoy the pool or other amenities.
- 4/5
The room itself was nothing fancy, but clean. We got the two bedroom suite, which is perfect for my large family. The only complaint was that the bedroom doors had no lock. My main complaint with this hotel is the breakfast. The eggs were fake and cold. The coffee was literally undrinkable. It was like burnt mud! I would rather have free parking than the free breakfast. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. I really appreciated that. I would stay again since it is one of the few hotels with a two bedroom suite.

I stay here every three months to see a medical specialist, I have stayed with both my family and by myself. I always pick this hotel because it is clean, the staff is very nice, and it's in a very clean and safe neighborhood. There is a pool for the kids, but with the windows closed in the room you don't hear much noise at all and it is very quiet at night. The breakfast is a typical hotel buffet style quality but they do have a lot of options and it's free! And the suites do have a full kitchen for extended stays. I do wish they had magnifying mirrors in the bathrooms though, how's a girl supposed to do her make up? That's probably my only complaint.

Great place for a four night stay. Close to everything in northern San Diego. Very clean and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and easy to start the day with.

The property is well located and very comfortable! Breakfast is plentiful and delicious and the pool/patio area is beautiful and serene. What we like most about this property is the staff (front desk, breakfast, maintenance, etc) are all warm, personable, professional, and responsive - ESPECIALLY BRYANNA AND ISAIAH at the front desk. THEY make this a five star experience by going out of their way to exceed expectations!! That we couldn’t stay longer!

The breakfast was fine, but this property is definitely in need of some updates. Perhaps they could also get some hdmi connections to make the space more modern.
- 3/5
Big room was nice. The hallway smelled like dog pee. Expedia says check in at 3 and out at noon. Hotel stated that was wrong.
- 1/5
AC was not working. Got moved to a different room which was a lot small but no discount or anything. Smaller AC had a working AC but not very good as it never got below 76 and it was super loud. Then got charged $15 for no explained reason.
- 2/5
Staff were very kind and helpful, and it was nice having breakfast each morning. But almost all of the outlets in our room didn’t work, so we had zero working plug-in lamps, and one TV didn’t work. Luckily the few installed ceiling lamps worked. Had to try about 10 outlets to finally find one that worked to charge electronics. There were also quite a few stains on the carpets in our room.
- 4/5
The rooms, location, and breakfast were amazing. I was not aware that I had to pay a $125 refundable deposit and $150 for two cars to park in the parking lot Parking fees of $125 for two car's seemed like a lot

we had a 1 bedroom suite and it was spacious with the bedroom separate for those going to bed early. The breakfast room was great and well spread out and kept clean. There were many choices. The pool area was nice. The location felt remote with nothing around it like a restaurant or store. We felt it was hard to get to.

Check-in was easy and quick. Daniel was very friendly and helped us immensely! The room was clean, smelled fresh, and didn’t have any chemical cleaner odours. The breakfast buffet was great and had a variety of selections. It was only a 20 min drive to Seaworld and there were lots of places to visit and eat nearby. La Jolla was also only about 10 mins away. Highly recommend!

Rooms are a bit outdated and smelled musty, staff came and deodorized it which was good. Hotel location is great, staff was great & breakfast buffet was good! Thank you!

We had a grest time and the chuldren loved the pool.
- 5/5
Everything was good pool was nice
- 3/5
Now the negative. The bathtub wasn’t draining well and my husband unclogged the drain from wads of hair and gunk. Our ceiling fan didn’t function at all. The kids were missing a chain on their fan and couldn’t change the settings. Lastly there was a crack in the kids bathroom sink.
- 5/5
The double bedroom was a great place for my family to stay! Having three beds, plus the couch hide-a-bed was wonderful!

I wouldnt stay here again. Had to change rooms. There were carpet beetles in our one room. Things were broken. Killed bugs.
- 5/5
I don't know why charging a fee for parking is necessary, as there appears to be ample space for it. However, the nightly rate here is pretty reasonable compared to many hotels in the general area.
- 4/5
Clean room, nice staff… was a little disappointed that breakfast meat was corn beef & not bacon/eggs. Requested an additional pillow via text & was supposed to have one delivered after the houseman came back from lunch, but did not receive.
- 5/5
Everything about our stay was perfect! We stayed in the 2br/2ba suite with 2 queen beds in one room, a king in the other, and a sofa bed. We had plenty of space and everything in the room was clean and worked well. Breakfast was the standard fare (eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit), and was well stocked every morning. Coffee and tea were available in the lobby all day, and the little shop was convenient (albeit pricey) if you just needed a quick snack or drink. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. I have zero complaints!
- 5/5
Wifi was stayed connected but was a bit slow.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay the place is clean and the staff are very friendy. Breakfast was good too

Good clean. Large rooms.

Your customer service was rude and abusive.
- 1/5
They didn’t give me the room that I had reserved The door wouldn’t open . After we went to breakfast, we came back to the room and the door still wouldn’t open. My son had a soccer tryouts game and we arrived late. I had to leave the door open because the maintenance worker told me to, so I had to leave it open with my personal belongings inside.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel, staff is courteous.
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 5/5
Three icks The pillows are horrible. Don’t have a great sleep due to neck issues due to the pillows. Second …. Wear earplugs Weekdays there seems to be some Type of construction and loud delivery trucks. Don’t sleep on the side where the room is next to home garden hotel Lastly, I checked out and received a receipt. An hour later, around 12:40pm, they called me to ask if I was checking out. Otherwise…. We would totally stay here again. Gotta give props to Isaiah. kitchen staff is amazing! They clean up and refill quickly. Rooms are spacious, and clean! We were greeted daily, respectfully and with a smile. They did not pass up a salutation. Isaiah checked in all of the time to make sure all was goo. He was very nice. He even had to deal with a sarcastic customer when we checked in and he handled it with grace and respect. Elevator was working. Lots of Parking. Breakfast is the best. Kudos to whoever came up with the breakfast ideas. That salsa is amazing. Very tasteful. Monday morning: chorizo con papas (potato’s and chorizo), eggs, flour tortilla, Jalepenos, shredded cheese, country potatoes, sausages, Several cereals, Waffles, bagels, oatmeal, overnight oats, Muffins, toast, cut fruit, bananas, apples, yogurt, coffee, apple juice, orange juice … they had so much to choose from. Even more that I am able to list from my memory. On Tuesday, instead of chorizo and potatoes CHECK MY YELP LOLA B
- 5/5
Easy check in, great room with a kitchenette
- 4/5
Clean room, good staff service and full buffet breakfast breakfast.
- 5/5
Every thing great
- 3/5
Room was clean and nice. Just was a little uneasy, there where a lot of van 6 from Texas (not sure if they were ( ICE Agents) I am an American citizen but what is going on right now I didn't feel comfortable with my stay. Didn't even go to breakfast because I didn't want to run in to them at all
- 3/5
The hotel overall is nice and clean. The worse part is the breakfast. I’ve stayed at many other homewood suites, this is the worse breakfast offered. There were very limited items.
- 4/5
The room was clean, breakfast was good and everybody was friendly and helpful!!
- 3/5
Hotel was in good condition, room was dated, bathroom and shower was old and outdated, maybe something you’d see in the 60’s. No service in the room during stay. Breakfast was good.
- 3/5
Breakfast was terrible, no fruits, no vegetables! Just apples. No meat.. Just eggs - no taste, cereal and oatmeal..
- 2/5
This hotel is severely lacking in housekeeping services. We stayed for 5 nights and never once had anyone come and clean our room. We ended up having to go to the front desk for new towels and toilet paper. (Our bathroom was completely out after having our family there for days.) Other guests were leaving their towels in the hallways, and the front desk had a stack of toilet paper ready to go, so it apparently wasn't just us. If given the opportunity to redo my choice, I would not waste money going here again. The staff was nice, and the breakfast was good, but there are several other properties nearby. (Also, be warned that if you try to use the pool at night, there is a guy who likes to sit nearby and smoke right next to the pool.)

I enjoyed the service. The staff was great. The dining staff was excellent. The food was good very nice hotel and I loved Batman to deliver towels and toiletries. The next time I visit San Diego I will be staying there again.
- 5/5
Everything is great EXCEPT they charge $12/night parking fee. Seems out of line and excessive.
- 4/5
The parking fee for guest, shouldn't it be free?
- 4/5
The young woman on staff when we arrived, late at night and tired, was delightful. The room was clean, if tired. Otherwise what would be expected. We were just there for an overnight and it met our needs.
- 2/5
We were put in a room that was across from a stairwell door and an exit door. The noise from the doors woke us up several times a night.
- 5/5
Loved this place
- 1/5
The room was so so cold no heater wasn’t working
- 5/5
Easy check in, great room.
- 5/5
We were very impressed with our rooms and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
The coffee in the lobby was cold the 2 times we tried to get some during our stay, which means they don’t even bother to check it. Our room was a good size, but on day 2 we noticed a funky smell when we got back. The next morning it was worse. It turns out the cabinet under the sink was full of trash bags from a previous guest. That’s disgusting to think their cleaning crew doesn’t even bother to open cabinets during their supposed cleaning. I can’t even imagine what else they didn’t clean in our room. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
- 4/5
Staff were pleasant. Room was clean. Didn’t get confirmation on my request for no down bedding. three pillows were fine, one was down. Bathroom sink had a bad smell periodically when turning on water, not sure what that was about. Otherwise a nice visit and we will be back
- 5/5
Everything was Fantastic!
- 5/5
Premium room and breakfast, excellent customer service
- 5/5
Excellent stay at this Homewood Suites. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will be back!
- 4/5
Microwave is old and low efficiency. Full size refrigerator is awesome.
- 5/5
Warm food was very cold
- 4/5
The location was perfect for my business trip and the space was large and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit dated and the beds, not as firm as I would’ve liked.
- 1/5
I extended my stay directly at the front desk, not through Expedia. The employee gave me a clear rate for the extra nights and even processed the extension for me. But when I checked out, the final receipt was way higher than what I was told. When I contacted them, they tried to blame me and said I “should have extended through Expedia” — even though their own front desk staff handled the extension and confirmed the rate. Their excuse made no sense, and they refused to honor the price they originally gave me. The lack of transparency and accountability is extremely disappointing. If you stay here, double-check every charge because they clearly don’t stick to what they tell you. I won’t be returning.
- 4/5
Staff was nice. The room was clean and the breakfast was decent. Only removed a star because the hallways smelled bad like musty everytime we walked down. And the bathroom door opens to the tiny spot you have to get ready which was not good when two people were trying to get ready at the same time
- 4/5
Seemed a little overpriced at $200/night. Stayed there because it was 5 minutes drive to my son’s apartment.
- 5/5
The suite was comfortable and well equipped with all that we needed for an enjoyable stay!
- 5/5
The room was clean and very comfy. Check in was fast and easy, staff was very pleasant. I enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
Room was extremely comfortable. Friendly front desk staff. Easy parking. Safe location. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
Spotless room and amazing staff
- 4/5
The staff was superb, and the property is great. Housekeeping is every other day and the day I had it it was below standard. Bathroom sink was not cleaned, kitchen floor was not swept, and all the trash was not taken out. The complimentary breakfast was nice, but the hash browns were hard as rocks. All this being said, I would stay there again. Very nice location.
- 4/5
It was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay there.
- 5/5
Very comfortable suite. Enjoyed the hot breakfast.
- 5/5
nice clean and room was perfect for the family , Erick front desk was awesome
- 4/5
Overall satisfactory. Staff was nice. Room was clean. It kept a roof over our heads. Everything was very outdated, breakfast was poor and bedding was very “papery”.
- 5/5
It’s not the most modern, very 90’s looking but the bed was comfort able, the tv has good options and the price was right. The breakfast was great: coffee, muffins, bagels, eggs, potatoes, waffles, juices.
- 5/5
We had a great time at this hotel. They have a nice breakfast and adequate parking. Nice place to relax and spend your vacation.
- 4/5
Quiet area and easy access to I5
- 4/5
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is good with healthy options (e.g., chia seed with oatmeal pudding) and there are good dining options within walking distance. The room was clean with comfortable beds. Our only minor complaint is that the dresser drawers kept sliding out on their own and the window in the bedroom required a metal pole to keep it open.
- 5/5
The lady at the front desk was so accommodating and helpful with my two disabled sons.
- 5/5
One of the best administrations which has executed for customer relevant services and conveniences.
- 4/5
it was fine, ok?
- 4/5
Breakfast was good, only 1 thing to complain about was the air conditioning was not working well it stayed between 78 to 80 degrees but the ceiling fan helped.
- 3/5
The air conditioner is noisy and the bath tub is not clean. The property needs some update. Room is big and staff is nice.
- 4/5
The breakfast was good.

The whole overnight stay experience was great, clean and well appointedroom👌 The only two things I personally did not like: 1. The hotel charges for a room single parking space fee and it is not disclosed unless you ask, at checkout. Another way to increase room fees, but appear more competitive 😏 Sad to see that, not like it used to be. 2. Continental Breakfast was over by 9:30 am, I feel 10 am is more accommodating to guests 🙄...
- 5/5
Very clean and friendly staff!! Spacious rooms. Nice common areas. Will come back as needed!!
- 5/5
The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and quiet. My stay was peaceful.
- 3/5
Property is located in the middle of a business park. Nothing nearby for food. Deli at Hilton garden In only open from 9am to 1pm!??
- 5/5
Our entire family stayed here in multiple rooms for my brothers wedding and we were so welcomed! Mari at the front desk is one of the loveliest people I’ve met and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed!
- 3/5
Bathrooms in the rooms need to be renovated
- 3/5
This Homewood suites was just ok. Rooms were not updated, housekeeping and trash removal you need to request every day or they won't come - they only did our beds the last night of 5 that we were there. The front desk questioned our need for 5 towels in our room and that they are used sparingly. The pool was fantastic. The breakfasts were perfect and just enough variety! No one mentioned a 12 dollar a day parking fee but we had to pay regardless. We had a great stay the 3pm cookies were a lovely surprise! We'll probably stay again.
- 5/5
Free breakfast :) 2 bedroom 2 bath is life saver with family of 4
- 3/5
Appreciate for accomodating mewith shower chair for being disable. The location where they placed me was noisy . Kids and people were running beteeen the hallways and bagging exit door till 1030 pm. Requested for wake up call for morning 530 am for my flight but they forgot to wake me up . Not planning to stay in such location again
- 3/5
A relaxing stay overall
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 3/5
Hot humid days in San Diego and the common areas were not air conditioned. We were told the manager could only adjust the thermostat. Luckily the AC worked in the room. Our room was older with dust in the corners of the bathroom and wear and tear.
- 5/5
Room was good but the hallway and lobby or anything outside of your room was not air conditioned and it was 83 with stuffy humidity made the free breakfast very hard to even want let alone appetizing or to go or do anything else in the building . None of the staff speaks English so if you need help good luck asking if you don’t speak Spanish. Outside of these complaints I was happy with the room the location the condition.
- 4/5
The bathroom could use some hooks for damp towels or for a personal item. Breakfast offers many choices. Next door the hotel offers a bar/restaurant.
- 5/5
Cozy and convenient for getting to and from hospital.
- 4/5
My family of 2 adults and 2 children enjoyed the big space for a 2 queen and 1 pull out sofa suite. The decor and bathrooms were outdated (sometimes had to flush twice) but it was clean and usable
- 3/5
Breakfast horrible, powered eggs, yuck, need real pig bacon, to cheap, thats why you buy turkey, if I stay there again definitely going to Dennys for breakfast.
- 5/5
We had a great stay. The small kitchen was a big plus for a quick meal after a day in San Diego
- 5/5
comfort
- 3/5
The room size was great clean and big. The breakfast was not what I was expecting not a lot of variety.
- 5/5
Beds are comfortable. The staff is so nice and accommodating. Outdoor pool & jacuzzi was clean and open late.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Location, staff, and breakwas was delightful! Renovated and clean 👍
- 5/5
It was nice and clean. Great hot breakfast options.
- 3/5
Pool and hot tub were unusable. Cloudy and yellowish. For $400 a night I’d like to be able to use the pool. Front desk said they’d call when a room was available and they didn’t. Room was ok but the pull out couch wasn’t great. We had to call for a blanket. Breakfast was good. Probably not staying there again when we go back to San Diego.
- 5/5
This hotel was great, very roomy. lots of drawers. Perfect for families!
- 3/5
Great staff, rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast was good, except they did not offer any non dairy milk alternatives for cereal or coffee.
- 3/5
I wish the response time would have been better
- 4/5
Overall, the property was great - the room size was perfect for my family of 7. Only issue I had was the AC wasn't working in the living room, so we had to use a fan to blow cool air into the living room.
- 4/5
The hotel breakfast offers a wide variety of foods; it's all mediocre at best. There are many restaurants within a few miles but nothing right nearby (other than the Hilton Garden Inn next door), Parking was $12/day.
- 4/5
Food was good, room was clean, pool and spa were nice.
- 2/5
Hallways carpet very dirty, floors all cracked, calling from desk the answer, dresser don’t close, shower low water pressure, door handle coming a part as you see in the pictures and plus they change for parking in the middle of nowhere. It the soy.
- 5/5
Room was nice and clean. Responsive and helpful staff
- 5/5
easy checkin, clean and nicely maintained property. We stayed two night in room with kitchen. We had two small kids and it was really nice and spacious room with pull up sofa bed which kids could use to play while we cook in the kitchen area. Water pressure in the bathroom was nice. Breakfast was good spread of fresh food and fruits.
- 4/5
It is a good place to stay. The only disappointment is housekeeping didn't come even once during our three day stay
- 5/5
Was a nice, stay with clean rooms and great guest services.
- 5/5
strongly recommend
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Easy stay for La Jolla or Del Mar visits
- 5/5
Daily complimentary breakfast and easy access to laundry facilities made our stay relaxing.
- 5/5
Pool was perfect for the kids to enjoy and the hot tub for the parents. The room had no issues. Queen bed with pullout couch. Staff was always very courteous from beginning to end. No issues. Stayed with 2 younger kids and 2 adults.
- 4/5
We had a great time
- 5/5
Good stuff and good service. I recommend this hotel to everyone.
- 5/5
Great place in the San Diego- Del Mar area for a reasonable price. I would definitely stay here again. Nice neighborhood that felt safe.
- 5/5
Excellent. Will stay again
- 4/5
I would advise the kitchen staff to be friendlier toward the guests.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service and fantastic rooms!
- 5/5
Customer service was great. Rooms are nice.
- 4/5
Overall very comfortable. The room was a bit noisy from neighbors and the sound from the pool area. The shower drain was clogged too.
- 5/5
Very nice and accommodating staff.
- 5/5
We had a great short stay as usual! Thank you!
- 4/5
Good experience
- 2/5
I had booked a room with two queen beds. I was told that they were all taken and we needed to use a pull out couch. That is not what I payed for. They gave me the 12.00 dollar parking for free. It was the first time I had been in a hotel that my friend (in the same room) had to pay for wifi. I am a Hilton member so I did not have to pay. I was disappointed.
- 5/5
Jonathan in the front dest was very nice & helpful .
- 5/5
The service is great and the front guest Mattie is wonderful
- 5/5
Room layout and full kitchen were amazing for our family
- 5/5
Very clean and relaxing
- 5/5
Everything was excellent, the staff was attentive and helpful, the food was great.
- 5/5
Hotel was very quiet and clean. Staff was very friendly and greeting. My family would likely come back if visiting. Thank you!
- 4/5
The location is to isolated from restaurants, gas stations and shops. Had issues with my room, but Jonathan the night employee was great and they moved me to another room, which was good.
- 2/5
The room 213 had an awful smell and the staff was not able to address or change our room, they were genuinely concerned but the odor definitely ruined our stay. I have stayed at the property multiple times and will definitely think twice again about staying here

We really enjoyed our week stay there. Suggestion: Drivers coming to pick us up would benefit from a sign directing them to the right after turning in the driveway off of the parkway, then left around to Homewood Suites. Several waited for us at the Garden Inn instead right after coming into the parking area.

Our stay was good. They were remodeling some things on the first floor but we never heard anything and they kept the area very clean. We felt safe parking and walking in, the room was clean. We enjoyed pour stay.

I had a bad experience at this hotel, I rented 2 rooms. The AC wasn't working, it was extremely hot in the room and when I reached back to my room it was 78 F , no maintenance was on call either.

Hidden gem. Arrived late (1030 pm) but reception was as fresh as if it was daytime. I was welcomed with great enthusiasm. Room upgraded and very comfortable. Plenty of space to move. And omg, that breakfast. I did not expect carnitas breakfast, hot sausage, well made scrambled eggs, waffles

The property is going through renovations but they do not address the quality of the rooms and the bathrooms. Only carpets, wall covering, etc. is being updated. The bathroom plumbing is poor. While they're going through this, the breakfast area is over crowded and there were no tea bags or hot water later in the evening. There is a hot water machine but it didn't work. I also recall it didn't work on prior visits.

The staff was wonderful. The young woman at the front desk was the greatest.

I requested early check in weeks in advance. On my arrival I was told room would possible be ready at 1:30 or 2pm. The room was ready after 3pm which the room was not well cleaned and had a dirty mop smell. Manager on duty Rosa was suppose to contact me which never happened.

The hotel was undergoing renovations the entire time we were there. They were planned renovations and we should have been told so we could switch to another hotel. Then one day the water is shut off for 4 hours. The room was poorly kept and showed a lot of wear. The kitchen barely had cooking utensils. I will never stay at a Homewood Suites again.
