This is a great place to stay if you are attending Marine boot camp graduation. The shuttle service is fantastic and the entire staff is very helpful.

My room was very clean and super quiet. I wasn't sure with it being on the highway but it was great. Close to the airport and nice store to pickup snacks and things. Gated underground parking along with small area at ground level. All doors and gates required room key so felt very safe. Very comfortable bed.

Charger for electric cars was free! Huge advantage for us. Staff was so helpful and they have a shuttle to Old Town. Only downside was being so close to the freeway we could hear all night. Had to download a fan app to drown out the noise.

Great hotel. Professional and freindly staff. Airport shuttle readily available, and prompt when called for. Drivers- Nick, Vangie, and Kylene super professional. Front desk staff seemed to be always busy, but would take time to acknowledge you and reassure you that they would be right with you- good job. Utilized the fitness room, which was more than adequate for me, and its clean and organized. Will stay again if I am ever back in San Diego.

For a one night stay it was good. Traffic noise is a bit rough, and shuttle only runs every hour. Other than that it was good for a quick lay over.

The only complaint I have was that outside doors to the room hallways and the room doors close automatically and they all closed loudly so it got loud and echoed when people came back to their rooms late at night. Also, the beautiful patio shown in the photos with tables and umbrellas is actually right next to the freeway so it’s very noisy and not as inviting as the picture depicts. There is, however, a nice little sitting area near the pool which we used every evening. I would definitely stay here again — I would just ask for a room not near the outer door entrances.

Room was clean & comfortable. Beds were good. Room had a microwave & refrigerator. Bathroom had a nice walk in shower. TV worked great, which does not always happen very close & convenient to the airport & the San Diego Zoo. Area is somewhat industrial so having GPS is very helpful to get around.

Only one washcloth for 2 people; you could hear everything going on in the rooms when in the hallway. Doors had very little soundproofing.

I enjoyed the pool and was pleasantly surprised by both the comfortable temp and the quiet/all to myself experience 😁

The breakfast area was the most impressive, fully loaded, well supplied and super super clean! The attendant Dolores that handles the breakfast bar is meticulous about the presentation and overall impression of the lobby and food area. Ulises the lobby attendant is super helpful and nice.

I felt at home!

The breakfast was decent with alot of choices. Fresh fruit, assorted breads, eggs, sausage, pancakes, juices. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Although this property sits parallel to a major highway, you could hardly hear the traffic. Quiet hotel, great location.

This was absolutely the best Holiday Inn Express I’ve ever experienced. Staff folks were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the breakfast good and the free shuttle to the airport was much appreciated. Also note that the property is a pretty short walk to San Diego Oldtown. An excellent choice for a short stay in San Diego

The hotel was centrally located to many great attractions. Although the freeway is right there, once you are in your room, you do not hear the noise from the room. The walls are thin though so there is a lot of noise from the hall and from people around you in other rooms. The breakfast is just ok, but convenient for something quick to eat. Staff is wonderful!

Our stay was very enjoyable. It was a smaller boutique hotel feel. There is a free shuttle to the airport and also they'll take you to Old Town, an area with restaurants and shopping. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would give the staff 5+ stars for their service excellence. The rooms were well kept and clean with a mini fridge and microwave. A free breakfast was included. Very good variety, hot and cold options. There was also 24 hour coffee and fruits available in the lobby.

The location was perfect! Just one freeway exit away from the downtown area and tucked into a neighborhood just across from the airport. The little gift shop/mini-market off the lobby was well stocked with snacks, essentials and souvenirs. The pool area was very clean and well maintained and there was also a separate courtyard. The desk staff was efficient (not overly friendly). The shuttle service was excellent. The ride to the airport was very short (15 min) and right on time. The shuttle driver went out of his way to return the backpack my husband left in the shuttle . Thus could have been a missed flight disaster! My grandchildren and I proceeded through security ,praying my husband would be able to fetch his bag and meet up with us. Thanks to the driver for answering his phone and getting the bag back in time for my husband to make the flight! With a 6:00 am flight, leaving the hotel at 4:39 am we were not able to take advantage of the complementary breakfast. It would be amazing if there was an option for to-go bags with yogurt, breakfast bars, fruit?? Or, even similar items for purchase would be nice.

I’ve been a Hampton Inn loyalist for a long time, but I may need to reconsider my unjustified avoidance of Holiday Inn Expresses. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, the shuttle was super convenient, the free breakfast exceeded my expectations, the bed was comfy, and the in-room desk area was great!

The shuttle service was a major plus, as they were very flexible with airport timing and even drove guests to other locations around town such as the Marine Base nearby. They were also very helpful in holding my suitcases for the day after checkout. The lobby is beautifully decorated and clean, and the breakfast was very nice. As for the room, the shower was very clean and drained well, and the rest of the bathroom was well-kept. However, I did encounter a small bug in the bathroom, and unfortunately, my sheets, pillowcases, and towels had some stains on them. Apart from these small details I had a great stay overall!

There is a $25 fee for parking and the hotel is literally right on the highway. Other than that, it was fine for a quick overnight to get to the airport.

We booked late so we got a handicap room. It was very big, but the shower was very difficult to use. We were on the first floor and we could hear everything of the people above us. Them walking, talking… It kept us up at night and woke us up early in the morning.

The airport shuttle was great, the pool was heated, the room was clean & quiet, even with the highway close by (super quiet AC and bathroom fan), the breakfast was awesome with lots of variety and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. We stayed there to attend my son's Marine graduation. This hotel was perfect. We were able to shuttle everywhere we needed to go. The staff was incredibly helpful! I highly recommend this hotel! We will stay again when in the area.

It’s a great place to stay. The first night it was quiet. The last night I could hear people pushing their luggage on the cement walkway and I could hear them coughing and flushing the toilet so I didn’t sleep well. I was in a room that was an outside entrance that I heard all the noise. The first night was inside hallway room.

We arrived late (after 11pm) - the gentleman working the front desk was very friendly and efficient. Got us set up quickly and we were in our room quickly. Nice to have a little "shop" for snacks and drinks before we headed to our room. Shuttle to the car rental place (and the airport) was very convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

We travel to San Diego by Amtrak and get around by the trolley. This hotel is between the Old Town transportation center and the Washington Street trolley station. We made the mistake of getting off the trolley at the Washington Street station with our luggage. I had not realized that there was a hill to climb to get to the hotel. That was challenging for me. I would recommend to others traveling by train to take an Uber from the Old Town station to the hotel. When we checked out of the hotel, we took the hotel's shuttle to the station, which worked out great.

So noisy all night with other guests running and laughing loudly outside our door, a large group of guests drinking and smoking heavily in the patio area being aggressively loud. The breakfast was subpar super salty and cold and no juice the machine was broken the coffee was so bitter too. No one unlocked the pool so we couldn’t use it. The staff were so nice though. Very helpful.

I would recommend this place for families with kids (there’s a pool and lots of space to run around) or a solo traveller who doesn’t mind noise. I’ll try another hotel next time.

Nice room. Good breakfast. Convient free shuttle to the airport with a very nice driver. My only issue was I couldn't get the wifi to work, but the selection of television channels made up for it.

The location is situated perfectly in proximity to whichever transportation you decide to take. Although it was very close to the airport the noise control in our room was good. Those are the few worth mentioning of the positive side and on the negative side are many to out weigh the positives. We booked for two rooms, but got a room with 2 beds and double doors that was supposed to separate the beds. The doors did not work making my stay extremely uncomfortable. The toiletries were not sufficient for our weekend stay. Over priced for a room with double beds. Staff was not friendly at all by far my worst place I have stayed at.

We could not have asked for better service and warm and inviting atmosphere. All the staff treat you like family…so welcoming and considerate. We came for our daughter’s Marine graduation and we’re so thankful for how helpful and informative this hotel was. They shuttle you to and from the base and it makes things much quicker than if you were to drive yourself to the base. The hotel is extremely clean and is beautifully kept as well. Breakfast is well kept and they clean tables quickly as people finish their breakfast so that all can have a clean table to sit at. There is also a lovely sitting area for visiting on the patio which is perfect for just getting a moment to watch the life going on around the busy area. They even have a mini convenience store inside that is well stocked if you happen to have a craving or a need. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

They were very welcoming and top notch service from the hotel, its shuttle drivers and making you feel welcome and they were just as proud of the new marines as the families. Highly recommend staying here. They took care of us and it was a lot of people and never once saw a fault.

The shuttle service was excellent - Picked us up at the airport and, if you have a marine graduating, they will take you to the base and pick you up. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was average but very clean and has a refrigerator, microwave, and safe. Plenty of towels and a very good modern shower.

We loved having the airport shuttle. They shuttled our family to and from the MCRD for both family day and graduation. The hotel offers shuttle to a few restaurants. The rooms were so clean and the beds are really comfy. The staff are always helpful and so friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely come back again.

The room was pretty clean. It was pretty bare bones. Nothing special really. It was a very small room with one queen bed. The staff was ok. Not bad, just not super inviting or friendly.

The swimming pool was wonderful, and the breakfast was excellent in the morning. The gentleman working at check-in was great. The lady working in the morning of our checkout on Monday 29, 2025 had no name tag and did not seem like she wanted to be at work. She probably should have stayed home for the day. She seemed bothered that I approached the front desk to tell her we were checking out. Service with a smile is not her specialty and she was short and very unfriendly.

Best place for families who have a Marine graduating!! This is our second time in one year to be here for graduation. Our oldest graduated last year and the place we stayed was too far and not a good location. This time I booked with Holiday Inn Old Town and from the minute they picked us up from the airport we felt welcomed and the transportation to and from was so easy! They take you to the base and pick you up. They also shuttle to airport, Old Town, and a couple other places. This was so nice and convenient! Nick, Art, and all the staff were so nice and welcoming! We even got to ride in the Telsa a few times and that was super cool. 😎 Much better experience than last and having the shuttle was so worth it!!! Thank you for a wonderful stay, Semper Fi 🇺🇸

Very clean and welcoming

The property is located right by I-5 and all the two-bed rooms are overlooking it. They tried to accommodate us as far away from it as possible but the noise was still unbearable unless you keep the windows closed of course. The parking downstairs is probably no more than 30 feet away from I-5 with no noise barrier. The noise there is horrendous, and they charge a parking fee for it.

The hotel picked my sister and I up at the Car Rental at the airport and brought us to the hotel. The next morning we took the shuttle back to airport at 5am and it was prompt and fast. Great night sleep. Unfortunately we left before breakfast was open - next time! Thanks!

Was clean. Had a difficult time getting AC turn off

At first I was a little worried because I could easily hear people outside the room and upstairs, so I was expecting not being able to sleep but the beds were so comfortable that I slept so good. Room is super clean, LOVE THAT! Staff super nice. Breakfast is ok, not amazing but good enough to get you ready to go. Hotel is literally next to the freeway but the windows are great quality because it did not bother us. Love the location, not too far from anywhere we wanted to go.

However, I am very unhappy with the way the billing was handled. My boss had paid for the first night at the online rate of $437.00, and then we paid for two additional nights at $548.00 each. While we did receive a refund for one night, it was only for the $437.00 rate instead of $548.00. This means my company was charged $548.00 twice when we should have only been charged once at that rate. This is not only incorrect but also unfair—especially given the additional stress we were already experiencing from airline issues. I hope management will review this situation and make it right.

Very convenient to airport amd freeway. Friendly staff and great coffee bar and breakfast. Fitness facility perfect and outdoor patio very relaxing. Also concierge store was fully stocked with everything you could want toiletries to wine and snacks. Thank you for a great stay!

This is a very well kept, clean and quiet Holiday Inn express. When I return to San Diego, this will be my primary choice to stay.

I was fine with all of it. Everyone was courteous, my pick up driver was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. I thought I would need outside services to get to the airport but I didn’t.

What I like about the property was it had everything I needed and it was close by old town restaurants.

We went for a Marine graduation. They picked us up from the Airport, quickly. At check in we were surprised that they offered a shuttle ON THE BASE to bypass the security, saving a TON of time. Art, and Alex have SPECTACULAR customer service. we had an issue and they switch rooms without question. turned out to be construction that had nothing to do with them, but they still made sure we were happy asap. they offered shuttles to certain areas and if needed also a taxi service. I will highly recommend this for 5 stars for all military families. Getting to the airport was also the best experience leaving as well!! awesome experience guys, really!!

Due to delayed flight, we missed the shuttle by 2 mins. Then when we arrived at the hotel, we were told the elevator isn’t working. We had 4 large bags. Then when we got to the room it was a handicap queen room, we booked a king standard room. We were told it’s the last room.. very poor customer service..

Housekeeping staff came into my room three times before I checked out ( on time, at 11 am) I told them politely no thank you the first time, no big deal. Two more times they came into my room and asked me what time I was checking out. I understand they have a job to do, but as I was about to check out a little bit of privacy would have been appreciated.

Property was clean and well kept. They do provide a shuttle to the airport and convention center while I was there for a conference. The only issue with that is that they told us the shuttle picked up at the conference every hour on the hour and it never actually did.

The bathroom had a leak and our floor in front of the bathroom was always wet and there was a constant bad smell coming from the bathroom. The bedding was ripped. Most of the USB outlets were broken. The staff were unfriendly.

If you want to be in old town don’t stay here!!! It’s a good walk to get there and it’s sketchy especially at night!!! They are trying to capitalize on old town without being located there. Try the best western , you will be right where the excitement is and can walk there. This holiday Inn is right next to the freeway. Inside the noise level was good, but outside the noise was extreme at times. The shuttle drivers are friendlier than the staff and are very accommodating. The airport shuttle ONLY runs on the hour, so plan accordingly! The family that owns are at times nice, but seem very burnt out and need of an injection of purpose. Overall a decent hotel but I wouldn’t It come back. There are better choices out there, especially if you want to stay in old town!

Came in late day and great service to get us to our room and settled quickly.

Stayed overnight on a layover. The location was close enough to the airport. We utilized the shuttle, the driver was timely and pleasant. Breakfast the next morning was well rounded, there was something for everyone. Room and property were clean. It was a perfect stay!

Had a Good experience while starting there

Absolutely awesome stay. Every single employee is thoughtful and caring. The cyber truck is so fun to ride around in. Nick and the other driver are a class act. It was a very nice breakfast with delicious coffee and a nice little convenience store to get bottled water etc. I’ll definitely stay there whenever I go to San Diego!!!

However the shuttle service was EXCELLENT.

We had a request for a wake-up call which didn’t happen. Got a second call to the room about transit to the airport and told the clerk we are on the way down. We arrived 1 minute after the departure time and bus was gone. We asked the clerk now what and he just shrugged his shoulders. This was bitter everyone else was great.

I didn’t like the fact that I paid a parking fee without being told there was one. The lady at the front desk said she would refund it but I still got charged a hefty parking fee and surcharge for the room

We drove to San Diego from MT for our son’s graduation from Marine Corps bootcamp. Our stay was comfortable and worth every penny. We all spent time in the heated pool to relax before retiring for the evening.

Shuttle service is hands down the best quality that we utilized. It allowed us to enjoy the area and know what we would like to do when we come back because it was such a great experience!! Shuttle service to old town.
