The breakfast was disgusting and definitely not worth 22$ it is all you can eat so if you’re looking for quantity over quality this option would be a great choice, there’s so many hidden fees and you need to pay for parking if you decide to drive there, the front desk staff were short tempered and unkind to any questions asked. In the listing which was a big draw to why we booked with them was supposedly their fire pits which none of them had propane in them. It was super cool to see the fish swimming around however the walls are incredibly thin so you can hear what your neighbors are doing.

When making the reservation I specifically requested a room with no perfume or fragrances. We had to check 3 different rooms before I could find one that had minimum amounts of fragrances. I then had to wipe down everything to get rid of the rest of the fragrances. The air conditioning trickled out air. Two of the rooms didn't even have working air-conditioning. Older Hotel but quaint.

Ok but I was glad it was only for one night- as a lone traveller I did not feel super safe as the entry to the rooms was via rear unattended door off the parkng lot a long way from the lobby. No safe in room was a big issue.

I made this reservation because our flight out of San Diego was being cancelled. Within 2 hours I attempted to cancel this reservation because the Airline put us in a hotel. The Hotel said I had to go through Expedia, Expedia said I had to go through the hotel. Calling the hotel customer service was a terrible experience, you could not hear them and they had no clue or interest in helping me. I basically received an "oh well, sorry. We are keeping your money" . Expedia was also no help. Allegedly Expedia was contacting the hotel directly and would get back to me. I have heard nothing from Expedia. I will have to dispute this with my credit card.

The location and room were fine. The restaurant was closed. As a result, I had to get dinner in the bar. The bar was filled with a bunch of weirdos. These men kept hitting on me, offering me shots and even though I told them "no" they kept pursuing. It was not okay. I just asked the bartender to wrap my food up to go. There were a lot of dreadful people hanging out at the bar, unfortunately.

We ended up in a room at the far end of the hotel which was overlooking a parking garage under construction. The room was spacious but the bathroom was very outdated. It was also adjacent to a very old and noisy elevator. Not recommended.

Front desk person was rude, said breakfast not included. Would not even bother looking at my contract. Finally, after talking to an Expedia rep, that was taken care of. Skipped the breakfast next day - because it was not even worth it. Room was terrible, AC didn’t work. A maintenance guy came to check it out, said should start working - give it some time. We went out for dinner, came back it was the same. Finally the maintenance guy advocated that we should get another room. Parking fee was separate - that is terrible. They have a big gated parking lot, why charging extra fee. Never ever booking Crown Plaza again.

Staff were so friendly. Laundry facilities onsite. Paid parking. I know it may be legal in this country but the smell of Marijuana was strong on a daily basis. There was a very clear difference with the rooms with a garden/pool view to the golf course view - pool view was clean and well presented however negative was hearing the freeway traffic, rear/golf course view was mostly construction or of the carpark.

We probably should have asked if there was someone to help us get our luggage to the room. It was quite a walk from the front desk to our room. Both of us have mobility issues.

Room was okay. Dining experience was okay. Food and drinks took too long for hungry kids. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Too much noise all around us with bathroom doors sliding, balcony doors opening and main doors being slammed.

Multiple amenities fell short: the bed lacked the advertised pillow-top comfort, the bathroom floor was dirty, and our request for extra pillows and sheets for our son was completely ignored. The building requires a major aesthetic and structural upgrade. While the front desk team was amazing and provided excellent service at check-in, the state of the accommodations ensures we will not be returning.

Security access to the room was very good; no key, no access. Room was a nice large size with two comfortable beds. The bathroom was also spacious and the bathroom products smelled very nice. Parking for the area we were in is a bit limited compared to how many rooms the hotel has. I was disappointed that the only place that one can sit and eat in the early evening was the bar. The bar area was a bit loud and only has two regular height tables, the rest of the tables are bar height and as a small woman only wanting to eat a meal and get some peace at a meal this was not a pleasant experience.

Nothing! We were tired and had to walk a lot to reach our room. We wanted to take shower but the bath tub was clogged. We complained and the front desk lady said they will send someone in 30 minutes but no one arrived and they never fixed the issue. There were no tissues in the room.

Breakfast options are good. For vegetarians at least one cooked item was available along with fruits and juice. Water bottle provided only on the day of arrival. Later it was denied.

This hotel was great and thank you for upgrading us for our honeymoon! We didn't spend much time at the hotel but we got an uber to the old town around 10 minutes away and did the hop on hop off trolley which was absolutely brilliant. The hotel was spacious and clean and all the staff were super friendly. No complaints!

The bathroom needs to be updated. When we arrived the bathroom floor had some old soap bar. We had room cleaned after being there for two days and after cleaning the old soap bar was still on the bathroom floor.

The front desk staff was great, others not so much. No room service, to-go was wait in line to order and wait some more for food prep. I declined that adventure. Room keys seemed to work somewhat sporadically-also confirmed by another guest who noticed my key not working either (as his had not) at one of the entrys.

The rooms are very clean and the property is meticulously maintained, except for one of the elevators. This is one of our favorite properties to visit for a weekend getaway in Mission Valley. There is also plenty of parking in the rear of the property and even though the pool hours posted indicate the pool is closed at 10 pm, I have seen plenty of visitors swimming around midnight or later and the staff pretty much leaves everyone alone unless your being obnoxious. Enjoy your stay.

Genuinely loved staying at this hotel. There was an error with the suite booking from Expedia and the staff fixed it immediately and was very kind about it. The pool was great! Perfect temp even though it was a cold cloudy day. Will be booking again for sure!

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my stay on 4/23-4/24...I was traveling as a single mother with my young son, who is autistic. For a child with his needs, a calm and predictable environment is essential, and this stay was the exact opposite. The guests in the neighboring room were partying all night and became increasingly unruly to the point where it sounded violent. Because of the aggressive nature of the noise, I did not feel comfortable or safe complaining to the front desk at the time, fearing a confrontation. This was incredibly distressing for my son, who was unable to cope with the chaos. On top of the neighbor's behavior, the elevator noise in our room was constant and deafening, sounding like a jet engine. Between the mechanical noise and the rowdy guests, we were unable to sleep before our 5:00 AM flight, which made our travel day significantly more difficult. Given that this was a distressing, unsafe, and sleepless experience for my family, I am requesting a full refund for this stay. I look forward to hearing how you plan to address these serious issues.

We switched to this hotel last minute after a negative experience at another hotel. This one was nice and we felt quite safe. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The gym was small but had everything I needed to complete my workout routine.

We were very disappointed in the condition of the hotel during our stay. The entrance we were told to go through I believe at mahalo the keys didn’t work and the door did not work, it appears broken. We weren’t able to get in and we have a little baby. So it’s very stressful trying to get into your side of the hotel carrying bags and a baby and the door doesn’t work. We had to haul everything to a different entrance to come and find we could only get the key card to work on our room door after what most have been a hundred tries. It was very frustrating and really turned us off from ever staying here again. I hope there is something that can be done to make up for the inconvenience.

This was most likely a very nice place to stay 20 years ago, when Howard Johnsons was booked. Could hear others thru the wall, everything was definitely dated. The TV worked and was large. Was only there from 9pm until had to leave at 4am for my flight. The bed was dry and my rental was still there when i left so end not a bad place. Would i still there again? There are too many other locations around that area to need to do that on purpose. Thanks for the memories tho.

It’s an aged hotel. Besides the size of the room, it barely can be counted as a three and half stars hotel except wonderful staffs. While the room is big, there is no luggage rack. Ended up we have to open up the suitcases on the desk and the ground. Feeling the hotel management kind of gives up. I guess the price reflects that.

The room was spacious and clean, but the hotel felt a bit “dated.” The only downside was that’s the walls were thin. Plus, we had an adjoining room and we could hear our neighbors talking and moving around very clearly.

The front desk is 100% unresponsive to the new text method they use for communication. Every text I sent them was completely ignored. My wife and I called the front desk at least 10 times to get our thermostat fixed. They never picked up the phone once. They will text you many times to see how your stay is, to pretend they care, and then will completely ignore you when you respond to their initial text. There were other issues, but don’t feel like going into them. Will not be returning.

location was cool. simple things didn't work. if you take a console dont even bother trying to connect online. there is no access to the internet. no accommodations either, I asked the front desk for an eternity cable they didn't have one. another thing my kid was sick so I asked if I could take my breakfast to the room they said they dont do that. which resulted in my kid being sick in the middle of breakfast. the shower didn't work had to have maintenance fix it while we were there and still just did a hot fix. I couldn't use streaming services because we could not connect to the internet. we just ended checking out a day before. for a 3-4 star hotel they sure were missing 2 star amenities. I've stayed in cheaper places with better accommodations and services. probably my last time. you gotta pay to park there too

Hotel needs update

Room was dirty, dusty, and did not function correctly. Multiple outlets didn’t work to charge phones, keurig coffee machine didn’t work, shower pressure was so low. The tv remote and air conditioner didn’t work as well. Room was stuffy due to the air not working, remote was not working and kept glitching. Just not a good stay, would never ever stay here again. Also, there elevators are so slow and all broken. This place is a joke.

I realize they are doing some construction, but our room wreaked of cigarette smoke, the tub faucet was loose coming away from the wall, the granite along the sink had a very long and big crack, sticking up above the surface of counter, and only “fixed by filling it in with some caulking.

we stayed here for my birthday, i was honestly very nervous based on other reviews but i actually loved it and will book here from now on!!! the atmosphere was beautiful!! love the Koi fish and all the ponds/ sitting areas and the fire pits outside! i love that It’s all gated in. very secure which gives peace of mind because of surroundings hotels. You need a key card to get through the doors or the gate! The beds were soft! the pillows were super comfy! my daughter had a blast going between joint rooms! they do have a little snack/essentials room, it was very pricey but for a hotel it was expected. THE BAR - My husband and I went down to the bar before closing… the guy was sweet lol seemed like he had a few drinks himself lol. they have no set menu which sucked but he mixed a bunch of random things together that tasted okay. do note. most of the rooms are joint rooms king jointed with a double queen. i wasn’t aware they were jointed rooms. we downgraded one of the kings for a double queen to be next to eachother.

I reserved a king room with a balcony online. But when I went to check in at the lobby, my room was downgraded to two queens, mentioning that the king was not available. However on the site, there were still 3 left. I’m highly disappointed!

We checked in about 730-8 and the went to dinner. We arrived back at our room around 11pm and got ready to shower. My wife went in and shortly after came out saying the shower is not draining and there is a film at the bottom. Also hair came up out of the drain. I tried calling the front desk and let the phone ring around 15x with no answer. My wife decided to finish showering wearing her crocs. I showered after her using the same method. After my shower I sat at the edge of the tub to wash my feet. Early that morning around 7am I used the "contact property" option on this app and didn't get a response. Till this day there was no email response. I went to the front desk and they had maintenance come to the room to fix problems. They fixed the problem around the time housekeeping was going to clean the room. We figured we'll leave while this was being handled. We returned to get ready for a wedding and it was fixed. Unfortunately housekeeping did not clean the tub, and black residue was still in the tub. We cleaned ourselves. Needless to say we will not be visiting this property nor will we recommend this property. We never got a response using the contact property using this app.

The restaurant was closed and parking was not free. Other guests slammed the doors all night long shaking the room and entire floor. Never again

The hotel is very old, only that they remodel it for a better view, but it smells too much of humidity, the Parkin is too big in fact it never fills up and they still charge $25 per night of parking. (I paid $50dlls of pure parking x 2 nights and I only used it one night, I made the observation about that and they still charged me 2 nights. I'm definitely not going back to this hotel. 😡😡

The room had several spiders- smelled and had used face towel hanging on the shower stall. Stains on the floor and sketchy people hanging out on the grounds at 1am. Attempted to check in a 2 pm. Made us comeback at 4. Due to not one available room with a King bed, yet housekeeping was knocking at our door at 8:30 to see if we had checked out. Hotel is old. Need a lot of updating.

Clean room,staff and overall stay

Arrived and told I had no reservation despite the fact I shared the itnerary number and several emails confirming my reservation with the front desk employee. I was told the hotel was booked and no rooms were available. Finally after much back and forth discussion I was told an "exception" would be made.

The property was immaculate and very well taken care of. I think we found our new favorite hotel in Mission Valley. We will be coming back here in the future for weekend getaways in San Diego.

Everything was seamless—from check-in to the overall experience. The pool was nice and warm throughout the evening, which made it great for families. The only downside was the parking area; it felt a bit lonely and basic, and the lighting was low. Other than that, everything was very good.

Room not clean. Sheets smelled dirty. Housekeeping did a poor job of freshening up the room.

The room was clean, the breakfast lacks variety but still delicious. Housekeeping staff was very sweet, and maintenance too! We were surprised with lots of rain during our visit and maintenance made sure to have mats out for our safety. I wish I would of got the man’s name but he made sure we didn’t slip and we’re safe ❤️ we plan to return for the summer, great location and everything is only about an 8min drive zero traffic. I miss San Diego so much , I can’t wait to go back and visit. our entire family will be joining us next trip and we will all be staying here ❤️

Great stay

First time staying here at The Crowne and it was great! Room super spacious and a separate vanity area was a perk! We had a lovely view from the balcony and the bed was perfect! The staff was polite and helpful. Hotel is in a prime location near eateries and the mall. Definitely coming back!

I like this hotel and will go back. It’s big and location is convenient. It is dated and the hot tub was not hot. But I really enjoyed my stay and the staff and customer service was exceptional.

Breakfast was okay. No one was at the host stand for several minutes. Not enough servers for the amount of people there. Took way to long to get coffee, water and especially coffee refills. The carafe left at the table only held 2.5 cups?

The service was terrible especially the front desk and they charged me for parking despite the fact that it was advertised as free when I reserved. The room wasn’t clean at all

Great stay - however in the parking lot out front as leaving I had some wacko try to get in my truck windows down)- telling me all kinds of crazy things getting angry I wasn’t welcoming him in. stay alert. It wasn’t the worse hotel. We did arrive late so we got the first floor. In saying that it wasn’t the cleanest, there was cracks and opened vents along with wiring devices that were left out that concerned us. There was also exposed pipes, and overall was was strange and sort of uncomfortable. The parking was also pretty bad, but it got the job done and bedding was clean.

The lobby was nice and so was the bar. The room was clean. We stayed in Mahalo. The building is old. It was just for one night so it was fine. The staff we interacted with were great.

Once we entered our room, our discomfort increased significantly. We attempted to settle in and rest after a long day, but the uneasy feeling persisted. After about an hour, I made the decision to leave, as my priority as a mother is ensuring my child’s safety and comfort. Both my son and I felt unsafe, and I was not willing to remain in an environment where we felt uncomfortable. When we went to check out and explained the situation to the staff member on duty at that time, I felt that she lacked compassion and understanding regarding our concerns. I felt it was important to bring this matter to your attention, as guest safety and comfort should always be a priority. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve the experience for future guests. We are not from the area. We had to drive back to Los Angeles in the late evening.

Hotel is basic, but clean. I upgraded it to 4 stars because the breakfast was better than expected. Solid stay. Parking is $25 a night but there was $10/night holiday special. $25 a night to me is way too much and that was really my only complaint.

This hotel was such a disappointment. Towels in the bathroom were dirty, A.C monitor kept clicking all night and during the day of our checkout early in the morning, the fire alarm had came on twice which woke us up out of our sleep. I spoke to the front desk staff named Eddison about the situation and he didnt have any sympathy about the situation. He poorly demonstrated customer recovery and I also needed my keys remade since my checkout time was near, as I got to my room, again the keys didnt work. Eddison didn't remake the keys properly which prompted me to call the front desk, again no apology given. This was the worse experience I had so far at a hotel

Unfortunately, this stay was enough to never come back. And to reconsider IHG hotels. We were charged for a room that had a broken entry, and needed to wait twice for the locks to be fixed, as well as the balcony door. (See pictures). The walls were covered in sticky substances. We were told to wait one hour for the swamp cooler AC to work. While “dial 0” produced 5 minutes of ringing, The front desk took about 20 minutes to wait in line.

Outdated, and you feel like you're in an old hotel. The rooms are okay for the price you pay.

This hotel is very clean. The staff are friendly. The property is well maintained and beautiful with flowers and fountains. The breakfast had a variety of foods and was good. The bar area was nice and they have 2 big tvs. I requested a game and they put it on. Our toilet did run and I put in a request for it but nothing changed unless it needed a new part. Overall a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend. It’s also located in a great spot close to many stores, restaurants etc.

This hotel is excellent. From the staff, to the location, to the breakfast and courtyard. The room areas have beautiful Koi ponds and waterfalls with sitting areas to watch the fish. The rooms are clean and spacious. Mine had a balcony allowing me to have fresh air in my room. Parking costs $25. While not free it is cheaper than mostly all other locations. The swimming pool was clean and very nuce. Grass and sitting areas throughout. I will definitely stay there again.

The staff upon check-in and the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. I was not satisfied with my room. I felt that my room had been vacant for some time, as we found many bugs and the air conditioner filters had not been checked/cleaned for a long time. There is no ventilation in the bathroom, and only one wall unit for airflow in the room. The room was decent enough for the two night stay, but for this being a recent “renovation”, they must have neglected upgrades to the rooms.

Great time clean room

Our stay was exceptional in almost every way except our bathroom. One sink was clogged and our toilet didn’t work correctly. Maintenance should have fixed both issues when they came up but they promised to come back in the morning and never did. That was disappointing. Otherwise, the room was great. The location was fantastic. And breakfast buffet was delicious. Paying $25 a day to park was stupid though. I would probably stay here again.

They really need to upgrade the outside. Inside the room was ok, my sink in the bathroom was leaking a little bit. I will not stay here again.

When we first pulled up I wasn’t too impressed, but boy was I wrong. Once you go around to the parking and walk in, the courtyard and center area are so beautiful and calm. One side has this beautiful waterfall with a koi pond. Definitely a zen relaxing place with lots of places to sit. The other side has a large grass area next to the gated pool, which is a pretty decent size. Our room was clean and nice. Bed was pretty comfy. Bringing down to 4 stars instead of 5 because we reserved a room with a king. Even confirmed with the staff in the front. I have a king at home. The bed we got was definitely a queen. Also the shower head was leaking a bit but once I tightened it, it stopped. Other than that, great place. Would definitely stay here again.

Very dated hotel - has a 1970s vibe. Rooms are clean but they also need to be updated. My room faced the parking lot next to loud construction activity from the adjacent property so my room was super noisy. Difficult to relax. The walk from the main hotel lobby to the room elevators - across the courtyard - is very long and laborious especially if you have a lot of luggage. Not the greatest design. Workout room is small and cramped. Won't be staying here again.

It's an older property, but very well-maintained and great condition. Beautiful inside and out. Nice pool and hot tub. Fairly close to the airport and Gaslamp Quarter. Easy Uber ride to both.

I was really impressed with the property, the staff, and the room itself. Booking online, you never know what you’re going to get. This property was over the top perfect for us. The room was incredibly spacious, the bathroom was super nice with the double sinks. The hot tub, we had to enjoy. We will 100% stay here again in the future.

It wasn’t great from the beginning. They don’t honor accommodations and the building, room, amenities, etc. were all in very poor condition. They need an uplift and they need one fast.

The property was great, room was nice, price reasonable. My only complaint was the parking lot is striped incorrectly and the spaces are too tight to park a car in and still open your car door. I had an a__hole park his car 3" from my driver door. If I had not been able to squeeze into the passenger side and side over a tow truck would have needed to move his vehicle.

If in the area for business or just passing by it is fine. Nothing special about it. It is clean, quiet for the most part. Next door is a motel 6 and a golf course. Convenient if looking for a place to stay for the zoo or seaworld.

The location was decent. We enjoyed exercising around the property and loved that we could walk to Fashion Valley Mall so easily. The hotel gym was nicer than expected. Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay with great service, just in need of some major modern updates and with the price per night these should be made.

This is a great hotel but it's a bit odd, from the gate that reminded my wife of a prison gate, to the elevator you didn't know if it would get you to your floor to the fact that we never did find an ice machine on the property. It's just odd but the rooms are spacious and clean and the pool is great. And it's all about location and this hotel is in a great location. Staff was great at every turn. No complaints but it's an odd property for sure.

The room always felt a damp muggy coolness even with the AC on. Room was ok clean but not great, found a long black hair in the bathroom when I checked in. The room was quiet, lobby was nice. Just expected better from some of the other reviews I read. It served it's purpose but wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel is a bit old, but clean throughout, and centrally located.

The hotel is a rundown; nothing like what is portrayed in the pictures. We booked three separate rooms and one of the rooms had no AC. The hotel needs to go through some real renovations. I understand that this is not a five-star hotel, and we definitely acknowledge that that was not what we were expecting, but we didn’t book a cheap motel either and so the quality for the amount paid should be equal.

I love this place, it's scenic with all the grottos, very spacious, huge property, lots of benches and sitting areas in the courtyard and grotto areas to enjoy piece of mind. Lots of elevators, the glass one is centrally located with a beautiful view from above. Affordable and not ridiculously over priced.

Check-in was quick and easy. The pool is nice. Parking lot gets full and spots can be tight.

Overall a great option. It was centrally located to many of the activities we visited for and the pool and central outdoor atrium with the waterfalls was a nice touch and made it feel like a nice retreat. Only thing we rated lower was the towels and that there were no hooks anywhere to hang towels or dry your bathing suit. Good option for the value.

I booked last minute, hadn't had much options. So I took this place. Must say I'm surprised for the 7.4 score they got. I thought it was excellent. The room is clean and big and comfortable, have everything I needed, easy to get in and out of there, nice lobby with a bar. Pool and jacuzzi and balcony looking over. What else you need? . And the price was definitely fair.

First of all a $100 deposit is ridiculous, maybe $50 is suitable. $25 for parking? That should be included in the stay. Breakfast should have complimentary.. there should be some perks when you spend a ton on two rooms.
