Best Western San Diego/Miramar Hotel

The hotel was a pleasant surprise. One of my party initially got CA room that had been smoked in. BAD! Staff was great and the breakfast was fine. Didn't like the signs all over saying that Best Western was not responsible for damage to or theft from the parked cars. I'd rather have the security problem fixed.

Too bad, because everything else was fine.

Not the best for multiple nights, decent for a quick stay. There were stains on the blinds and couch. AC sounded like it was going to takeoff. Pictures do not match actual environment. Breakfast is advertised to be served until 9:30 but at 9:15 they were packing it all up and were rude when asked for plates.

Everything was good breakfast is as good as an economy choice hotel only negative is that maintenance decided to shut the water off in our room and I had to call front desk to get it back on but they handled it with ease and got it back up quick. The parking lot is a little narrow.

The lady who checked us in was so nice! I believe her name started with an M. She made us feel so welcomed. Breakfast was really good. The room is adorable. The parking is a little tight but manageable. The only thing that should be improved is cleaning corners in areas like the bathroom ect. We will definitely stay here again, it was a lot better than expected.

This location is so ideal when it comes to places to eat, places of interest, all within 20 min. from this hotel. Lastly, surroundings at this location feels very safe. Which is why I'm giving this place five stars.

The place was so dirty had roaches and I am allergic to them thank goodness I had my epipen with me .so upset well me and my husband arrived late to San Diego airport and wanted to rest didn’t want to drive home so late and tired but did not get any rest because of the strong smell of roaches and the reaction I had!!!!!!! We always had a parking spot. He looks clean. The only drawback was some of the outlets did not work in our room. We loved how the windows opened up and let some fresh air in. They had a great breakfast hot. The beds were very comfortable. Would stay here again.

The woman working the desk on Saturday May 9, was absolutely wonderful. She was helpful, understanding and compassionate in a time that was extremely difficult. She will never know what her kindness gave our family. She was working the day shift. Thank you so much, the rest of the stay was great. Room was nice and quiet.

The hotel smell terrible. It smells like a drain or mold it needs to be demolished. I booked for a king size room and they said there aren't available. The breakfast it's fresh and good, the area is nice and quiet.

Great property, they don’t do room service unless requested which is honestly a huge + for privacy. If needed an extra towel, I could just walk to the front desk and they are more than accommodating. The daily free breakfast was better than most free breakfast hotels I have been to. Overall, a very nice genuine stay. Good distance for what San Diego has to offer, large uber population. A nice hotel if you want to be away from the city but also very close to the city at the same time.

Upon checking into 1 of our 2 rooms, it smelled like smoke & dingy. There were 4 flies! Staff said they could not change our rooms because they were booked the entire weekend. Refrigerators in both rooms were not working at all! We had to throw out food! Toilet in 1 of our rooms kept clogging after every use! They brought a plunger & left it the entire 3 days stay! Every day we had to ask for replacement towels. After coming back from dinner, 1 of our rooms door entry-suddenly had wiring hanging out of the bottom! My son (who is an active Marine) had to do a sweep of the room himself, because staff was unable to come immediately! And they NEVER came! He ended up sleeping in that room instead, as a precaution. The TV remote wouldn’t work in 1 of the rooms. We just ended up not watching. Unfortunately the only thing good about this stay, was the free breakfast. After all of this, they had the AUDACITY to still charge us FULL price in the end!! Worst hotel experience of my entire 49 years!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER STAY AT “ANY” BEST WESTERN!!!! DON’T RISK IT!!!!!!!

Room was dark, the window drapes broke and couldn't be opened. It felt like being very enclosed without window being able to let in light. Window drapes were very dirty. Sink was clogged, not fixed during the 5 days of our stay. The hair dryer was old and no hot air, it gave us allergies with the dust it had. Same with the air conditioner. They were out of toothpaste and didn't prepare for full occupancy. Room service is on demand as they claimed were full on the weekend and can't service everyday. The most positive is the beds were pretty comfortable and shower water was hot.

The breakfast was okay. The food was a little rubbery. Consider serving scrambled eggs more frequently than the omelettes, which were very firm. Maybe pancakes sometimes instead of waffles every day? I typically love waffles but again, these were very rubbery. The room had a strong odor - it smelled like people had smoked cigarettes in there. This was compounded by a very musty smell that didn't dissipate even after leaving the window open or running the ac. The smell lingered in my hair even after leaving the room.

We arrived late, and there is no parking on site, we had to park on the street, which does not feel safe. The breakfast menu is sufficient, you can make your own waffles, so that is nice. The bathtub is not clean, you can see black spots on the rug, and our shampoo bottle is emptied. Also our reservation is for three people, we don't have three complete sets of towels.

I liked the location and staff. The cleanliness was also ok. I would like to highlight a couple of areas for improvement. Despite requesting a non-smoking room, the room had a noticeable smell of smoke and alcohol, which affected the overall experience. I hope the hotel can ensure better adherence to guest preferences and improved room freshness in the future. Additionally, for 3-occupancy rooms, it would be very helpful to have a foldable divider or partition. This would provide added privacy, especially for guests who may need a separate space to change comfortably. Such a feature would greatly enhance convenience and make the stay more comfortable for groups, particularly for women.

The tv in the room was set to only sports stations. Couldn’t get it changed. The door didn’t shut unless you pushed or pulled it hard. The step up into the room should be red or yellow to alert and draw attention in room 326. The place is great. I enjoyed my stay. I will return. Just some suggestions to fix for the next guest in that room. Excellent Breakfast

Room was clean and quiet. There were people in each room beside me and I never heard them. Breakfast was good, just super busy. It was 20 minutes away from downtown, zoo/Balboa Park, and close to Miramar Base. For the price, I have no complaints.

This hotel worked well for my quick trip, but it is a bit dated and the surrounding area is limited on things to do.

Parking was free and I didn’t have an issue finding a spot even when getting back to my room late one evening. It’s a little tight if you have a larger vehicle, but there’s street parking too. The room was spacious and clean. King bed was comfortable and the room came with the standard amenities like fridge, microwave, iron and blow dyer. Coffee maker if you drink coffee. Wifi worked great – forgot to capture a speed test and the AC worked really well. Had to turn it off because it worked so well. Breakfast included but I didn’t partake. I had plans to eat elsewhere. Friendly staff both for check in and check out. For the rate, it’s a good value compared to other spots I looked at in the area. The only nitpick I have is the bathroom is dated and though the water temperature was nice and hot, the pressure wasn’t as hard as I prefer. Overall, happy with the stay – convenience over luxury. I’ll definitely consider staying here again.

Our room had hair in the shower drain, sticky residue on the remote, never had enough towels for the number of people staying in the room, not enough parking, had to provide my own body wash and conditioner, and the breakfast was lacking as some of the items were not available. The front office told me I had to come ask for a new key to the room every night because they would stop working. Come to find out that she just didn't know how to program the key for a multiple night visit and it was expiring everyday. It wasn't the worst experience I've had but basic amenities were missing that would've made this stay more pleasant.

I was not particularly happy to see a certain dictator on the tv my last day at breakfast and deeply disturbed that he had recently caused the deaths of many school children, but it was my bad that I didn’t sit facing opposite the tv and just emotionally regulate enough not to make some audible comments about his cruelty & what I perceive to be extreme corruption, so when I checked out the very kind & lovely lady with long black hair, who had said really encouraging words to me shortly after I checked in: she wasn’t rude and did not act judgmental to me; she just had a slight look of surprise and that was my fault since she may have heard some of my grumbling comments regarding that, at breakfast. I was by no means yelling but ppl close could definitely hear me, even though she wasn’t close enough and I probably wasn’t anywhere near loud enough for her to hear what I was saying. The prices here are a little too high for me most of the time, but it’s worth it if you can afford a little more: rooms are very nice, very clean: some of the most comfortable beds anywhere in SD and an awesome breakfast with a lot of different options.

Price was decent. It’s hard to pull in and out of the property into the main road because there were lots of big rigs that were parked on the side road, it was hard to see the oncoming traffic.

It’s old , needs lots of improvement. I was informed they only clean every 3 days unless requested otherwise . Rooms are dirty , it stinks . It’s more of a motel than a hotel. . They charged a $50 deposit which was not listed when booking . They lack parking . The entire place was just a mess . The only reason I booked it was because of free breakfast and free parking , but I was truly disappointed.

Other rooms have very small and low toilets, someone like me appreciate the high toilets. Agustin is one of your staff personnel and he is amazing and very helpful. Sonia, Zulema & Marjon are very friendly. The breakfast is very good too and a lot of varieties of food. Thank you for your service.

My stay here so far has been wonderful- clean, comfortable rooms. Attentive staff. The person who first checked me in was friendly and super helpful (his name might be DK?) and the manager who helped me with extending my stay is super kind & awesome too. The breakfast here offers a lot-hot items with protein and just a nice variety. Would definitely stay here again. To me, the main things that make a stay great are: staff, cleanliness of the room and how comfortable the bed is and this hotel is definitely excelling at all of those!

For the price it was fine. Large room, comfy bed, large TV, big fridge. The facility is run down and also seems to be plenty of groups of laborers who “live” there. Much better than the comfort inn property next door, stayed there on an earlier recent trip.

I thought the lobby setup and layout was nice. The lady who checked me in was totally helpful ensuring i could get a room with the best proximity and safe location to park my motorcycle. Housekeeping came knocking at 10:30. Likely because we had the closest room to the breakfast/lobby. Breakfast was so-so but all in all, I'd stay again.

Breakfast had their own yogurt machine with four different toppings. There were eggs and fancy Hillshire Farm type smoked sausage with salsa, cheese, and ham toppings. They also had regular sausage links. Room was quiet and clean. A/C was very cold. Shower was very hot and came to temp quickly. Smelled good. Parking was very close and well lit. We had three young kids and they enjoyed the pool. Will stay here again!

I stayed six days. Spacious and clean room with a couch and large TV. Very comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was not very tasty and low quality even though they served eggs, potatoes, and sausage. The staff was nice and parking was free. It was a little ways from downtown but worth it due to the room and price. I would stay there again. Miramar has plenty of good options for restaurants.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel due to serious maintenance and safety concerns. There was water leaking in the bathtub, which made the bathroom extremely unsafe. The area around the bathtub was slippery and bubbled out, creating a clear tripping and slipping hazard. Getting in and out of the bathtub felt dangerous, especially for anyone with mobility issues. Overall, the room was poorly maintained and clearly not inspected properly before guests arrive. These issues made the stay uncomfortable and raised concerns about basic safety standards. Given the condition of the room, this hotel does not meet reasonable expectations for cleanliness or maintenance. I would not recommend this hotel until these problems are properly addressed and guest safety is taken seriously.

I asked for a room change and the staff accommodated me immediately, which I really appreciated. The second room was quieter, but the AC unit made a loud rattling noise and wasn’t as efficient as the one in the first room something I had to get used to. Despite those issues, the hotel was decent overall and a good value for the price.

Clean room

Both rooms had a bad smell/ordor. The carpet needs cleaning as well as the sofa. It had lots of stains and smelled bad that we didn’t sit on it without using a towel. The staff was ok but the pictures were deceiving and made the rooms look better than were.

Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. Free parking was a plus. Wish they had pack and play for our grandson and it was a bit rundown but that’s reflected in the room price.

I was given a handicapped accessible room. I did not ask for that. The shower was disgusting. The shower head was loose and it wouldn't stay up. There was a leak in it, and water dripped onto the bathroom floor and flooded the whole bathroom. The shower curtain was cheap and ineffective, and did not hold the shower water in. There was mold all the way around the bottom of the shower where the shower walls connected to the shower floor. The room had the smell of mold. Also, I got a rash on my foot from the bed sheets, and I'm having a hard time getting rid of it. I hope I don't have to go to the doctor.

The room was clean, the restroom was not so clean the sower curtains were dirty and my 89 yr. Old mother had trouble using the toilets they were too low and the bed was too high since she has knee problems, not great for handicap cap.

I walked from the shower to the bed and my feet were BLACK! And it smelled horrible. I thought it was a hotel but it gave more of a CHEAP MOTEL !

Desk chair in my room stuck in one position (low). Rough busy place. If you don’t want to catch something don’t stay there. Seems like a Truckers stop. It’s hard driving out of the driveway truck's blocking the view of the exit.

Staff was very nice. The only issue I had was that the water wouldn't get past luke warm, but other than that the place was great. This was my second time staying here and I will definitely stay again.

I’ve always been a fan of Best Western, and this location truly impressed me. I stayed here for 3 weeks with my mother after her surgery, and it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the housekeeping team kept everything spotless and restocked. The room itself was quiet, comfortable, and so well maintained. The hotel had everything we needed—great lighting and mirrors throughout, a nice pool, washers and dryers with easy phone pay, and a convenient location near parks and shops. Breakfast was good, and the entire space felt safe and inviting. I even enjoyed walking up to the third floor just to take in the peaceful view. Leaving was bittersweet because this hotel felt like home. Everything was phenomenal, and I can’t recommend it enough. I’ll definitely be returning!

Expedia listed this property atop choice in the area. nothing could be further from the truth. Virtually none of the employees spoke english. You may notice that I did not check "Limited Dining". That's because there was no dining. The lobby was locked down at 9:00p. If you needed something you had to exit the hotel and ring for help. Good news is I will never stay in a Best Western again and will never, ever book with Expedia

Do not stay in this hotel go somewhere else. Do not vacation much wasted my money at this hotel chain and regret every moment of it. The toilet seat was not connected very well to the toilet so when you sat down, you slid around, when you got in the shower, there was black looking mold in the shower and it was a shower tub. Insert there was not properly mounted so it felt squishy in plastic key, the sink would fill up with water and take forever to drain, there was black stuff on the shower curtain that looked like poo, we found a bottle of lotion sitting on the ground by the TV, and don’t ask about the TV. It is impossible to switch channels and they don’t get very many channels And the air conditioner just look at the pictures of the air conditioner. I feel like I have some sort of weird viral infection now because I had to breathe in nasty air, and there were particles in it that look like mouse droppings because it was so dirty. They say they have breakfast. You’re better off eating from the gas station down the street, we ate a waffle the first day and never went back other than for coffee. The breakfast was disgusting and I was with a teenager that would eat anything and they said it was gross. Because of the cleanliness and the operations of this hotel, I will never say the Best Western again. The staff seemed like teenagers so I was worried if I complained that something could happen and I would not have a hotel at all. DO NOT STAY HERE.

As always, Best Western offers the best value for your money. The room was very clean, and the hotel itself was clean as well. The staff was friendly and helpful when I requested something. The breakfast was very good with lots of options to choose from. I love the fact that the beverage bar was open all day, so I could help myself to coffee or tea anytime. I always choose Best Western and they never disappoint.

Perfect for a last minute one night stay. Breakfast was great. Old building, rooms smelled old but still decent. My only issue was the heights of the toilet and sink, very low.

There’s not much around this particular hotel as we were staying in the top gun area of Miramar California. We picked this location specifically because we could get to many different sites in a relatively quick period of time due to the proximity of the hotel to the various freeways in Southern California. I am very much like the best Western. They had a lovely pool. The breakfast was quite extensive offerings and many of those offerings were hot. The staff was really wonderful. They were all very friendly and sweet and helpful. We chose an end room that had an extra window which really made a wonderful difference cause the windows open and we could get fresh air. Room 345 was particularly large and had two queen beds. There’s not much to walk around as the area is mostly industrial but it’s next to several different gas stations and you could get on Highway 15 immediately if this is the type of property you’re looking for I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a walkable area this is not it. You might want to stay in downtown San Diego or closer to the beach if that’s your thing.

My stay at the Best Western Miramar was a nightmare. The hotel itself is run-down, dirty, and poorly maintained. The carpets were stained, the bathroom smelled bad, and the overall condition of the room felt neglected. What really made me uncomfortable was the environment around the hotel. There seemed to be people hanging around who were clearly not guests, and the place felt unsafe. I saw suspicious activity in the parking lot at night, and I later heard about car break-ins happening there. It honestly felt like the hotel was attracting drug users and shady characters. I did not feel safe leaving my vehicle outside, and walking back to my room after dark was unsettling. On top of that, the staff did nothing to reassure me or address the security concerns. For the price they charge, this hotel is absolutely not worth it. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor service, and unsafe atmosphere, I would highly recommend staying elsewhere.

This is a place to stay for a comfortable bed, hot shower, (they have the small travel size toiletries, so bring your own), and it’s generally quiet. Literally, a right turn onto the I-15 freeway, but you don’t hear any of the freeway traffic. It’s in a convenient location with plenty of restaurants nearby including the Little India plaza with great Indian food. Carl’s Jr. right next door for a quick bite to eat and gas station right on the corner. I stay here regularly. Easy parking too.

It was what we needed for our trip. A place to sleep and shower. Beds were comfy, bathroom was exceptional. Parking lot got full pretty quick at the end of the day but wasn't hard to find parking. A lot of blue collars working out of town here. Breakfast was good, they have different stuff everyday, and the kitchen staff was very attentive. Always making sure there was enough food out and stocked. If you need an inexpensive place to stay for a few nights, I would recommend this place.

The entrance road was congested with construction vehicles, making it difficult to enter or exit. Parking was satisfactory. The staff who checked us in were great. However, the toilet seat was quite small, and our room had an unpleasant smell, although the air conditioning worked well.

The young man at the front desk was rude. I called expedia right away and asked to look into a different hotel. Bottom line the Hotel charged me one night and refunded the extra 2 nights. Was out $190 for peeking in a dirty room and it was early when we arrived. To early for check in. If you have children this is definitely not the place to stay.

Buggest issue was with the condition of the carpets was aweful. My room smelled like dog pee. I think they need to instill a policy of having designated dog friendly rooms so that the pet lovers who are used to pet odors can stay in those rooms and those of us who aren't can avoid it. The door of my room was so hard to open that we had to hip check it to get in and slam to close after. We complained about the smell and door and were moved.... but the next room had the same issue with the door.

A simple night's stay. It was fine. The parking lot is pretty small and it was hard to park. Fortunately, we have a handicap placard and there was one handicap spot. It didn't seem that there was air conditioning. Fortunately it was not needed.

This property wasn’t in the best area but the bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked amazing.

The staff was very kind and welcoming but we were not impressed with the room. The room smelled musty, had mold and hair on the bathroom ceiling, cigarette burns on the bedspread and couch, the outlets on the side of the bed didn’t work, and the carpet was filthy and left us with black feet. I would not stay here again.

The photos online looked great, but the actual condition of the hotel was nothing like the pictures. To make things worse, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I asked if I could see the room before checking in, she abruptly said, “I’m canceling your booking.” Very disappointing experience overall. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

We returned late to the hotel after a long day only to find the shower would not turn on. We were checking out the next day so we let management know as we were leaving and asked for a discount. The front desk said they would contact management, but we never heard back.

Room smell moldy and the elevator is too old and smelly. Also the floor was sticky. Pool was not heated. Not recommended

Cigarette burns in my blanket, basically a shower curtain for my “comforter” and I got a rash from whatever body bar they had given us to use.

Few weeks prior to our trip we booked a room with teo queen beds, and upon arrival were given a room with just one king bed. We approached the front desk and was offered a refund to go book somewhere else or a partial refund. Since we didn’t have anywhere else to go we decided to stay and try to use the pull out bed in the couch. The first room had multiple brown stains on the sheets and crumbs. We asked for new sheets, but they moved us to another room next door that had more crumbs and spiders crawling inside the sheets. Won’t be coming back.

Property old but it reasonably to stay

The hotel was clean and nice. We had problem with hot water several times but the staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was also good.

Staff were friendly. Breakfast was just run of the mill but hot and plentiful. Might stay there again, but probably not, would like somewhere with inside entry rather out, which this has. Close to freeway, easy to get to.

The hotel itself needs some upgrades, but the staff made the stay 5 stars. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful every step of the way. The first room we were in, the A/C didn't work, but the fan was blowing. The maintenance man thought it was working but when I disagreed, he immediately verified with the manager that we could switch rooms, and then stayed and helped until we were set up in our new room. Breakfast was good and everything was pleasant.

The staff was helpful and accommodating however the hotel itself was a bit rundown and the water situation was bad- temperature in shower never got hot and the water pressure was terrible. The sink water smelled like recycled water.

Had a great experience. The room was very clean and looked newly renovated inside. The price was excellent, especially considering it was just a 15-minute drive to SDSU for graduation. Highly recommend for a comfortable and convenient stay!

I had a last minute stay at around 11pm. Josh at the front was quick to check me in. Also helpful in finding me toiletries since I had brought nothing as this was not a planned trip. They have ample parking and I was able to park my 10 foot uhaul safely. The rooms are large and clean and the breakfast is welcoming and filling with a variety of choices. This has been my second time here.

The picture is not the hotel. No heated pool. No jacuzzi. And only 3 story’s high. Absolutely nothing to do in the area and not a great neighborhood. I don’t understand how they are affiliated with Best Western

We were on the first floor, I started itching, so I looked under the bed and there’s lots of pet hair. I had to ask for another room on the second floor and it was much better though it could have been better.

In the pictures it shows there’s a hot tub but they must have taken it out and they just have a table there now. There was a gap under the door so a breeze and some light came through. Very noisy but my door faced the pool so it might be because of the echo.

A nice size pool and a very enjoyable breakfast, would definitely come again! :-)
