Perfect for my staycation, walking distance from little Italy and the pier. Excited to come back for my next vacation.

I was a bit surprised there were only stair in the garage. You either used the stairs or the garage ramps to get to the lobby. Also most Best Western have a breakfast buffet but there wasn't one here. Thankfully there a Starbucks nearby. They did offer you a discount coupon for an Argentine restaurant for breakfast.

Great experience staying at Best Western Plus Bayside, San Diego. The property/rooms were clean and well maintained, and the staff was very courteous and helpful. Five stars!

The location was excellent. Walking distance to Little Italy. Close to transportation and bay. Parking was expensive.

Air conditioner was a little bit loud on startup but that's really the only issue. It was a fantastic stay. Highly recommend. Near alot of great restaurants.

It was in a very good location. Right downtown, close to everything. Easy access to train station and airport. Big issues at check in. First, check in time was 4 pm and there were no rooms available and I had to wait for house keeping... this has never happened to me in my life. Second, AND HUGE, I paid for my room in advance and they had no record of my payment so they charged me A SECOND TIME. They did fix it immediately. But I had to prove it showing them my receipt and credit card statement. They tried to blame it on Bookings.com, but I've used Bookings for all my travel arrangements since 2000, but have never stayed at a Best Western and I've never had any problems with Bookings.

The amenities mentioned in their description turned out to be completely false when we arrived to the property - they didn’t have valet parking, didn’t have breakfast as a service available within hotel premises and didn’t even have drinking water bottles available.

liked the room itself, comfortable king sized bed with a small balcony. liked the convenience of having a fridge and microwave. great location as well, near the train station and little italy. got a parking violation within one hour of our stay. was told by staff we could put our parking pass in the car at any time, this inconvenience caused some stress. the shower temperature was not hot at all, plus it was difficult to adjust temperature. there was a loud banging noise within air vent, very jarring to wake up to in the middle of the night.

I had a very pleasant time. My room was very clean and the staff was super kind and respectful. Will be sure to stay there again. Thank you

This was not the location which I planned to stay the per night was above what I would have paid at my preferred location ant the free breakfast which I would have gotten was not offered at this location also I was not allowed to change to the other location with the same name because I had prepaid and the hotel refused to cancel my reservation I was told that I could to my preferred location but I would need a new reservation and incur a new charge

NOTE: Despite internet searches indicating this hotel has a shuttle to/from airport and to/from cruise port, there IS NO HOTEL SHUTTLE.

I dislike going out in search of breakfast, so the fridge enabled me to eat in my room.

The fire alarm rang for a couple seconds at 5am and then immediately stopped. No fire/emergency in the hotel, must've randomly glitched or something, but it was quite startling. Rooms are a bit pricy but on par with the surrounding area.

The Best Western Plus Bayside in San Diego is our first choice for stays when we are in town. The front desk staff at check in and check out were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, had a good view and included a mini fridge. The bedding was soft and the bath products were terrific. Parking on site was convenient and safe. The location of the property is just blocks away from many dining options in Little Italy.

Loved the bay view room. The room was perfectly clean! We loved the close access to Little Italy & portside. We also loved the mocha/coffee machine access at all times. We will definitely stay again!

We didn’t end up parking on-site, as we read ahead of time that the fee was $30/day and spots weren’t guaranteed. We ended up reserving a parking spot in a nearby garage from spot hero for a fraction of the price. The steakhouse next to it looked delish and I’m kinda bummed we didn’t get to try.

I was extremely unhappy with the hotel. The internet didn’t work, and I was there for work, so I couldn’t get my job done. I complained to the lobby, they connected me with the internet provider (FOX), but they couldn’t fix it. I had to walk across the street to Starbucks to get my work done. Additionally, the staff was not friendly. I would never stay at Best Western again. On top of that, Expedia caused me a lot of problems. There was a glitch in their system, showing three itineraries. How could I have three hotels at the same time, checking in and out simultaneously, half a mile apart? I got charged and had to call five or six times, yet my issue still isn’t resolved. I’ve sent five emails and received no resolution. I will report this to the BBB and leave a bad review if no one gets back to me.

Great location downtown. Secure building with room card access to lobby from the street at night and to elevators up to the rooms. Loved the free coffee center in lobby with lattes/mochas/etc.

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a perfect location close to the port. It was clean and quiet. But best of all was the staff who patiently answered all my question about restaurants, taxis, etc. It was a pleasure working with them! I will stay there again!

Excellent staff, kind and professional and helpful especially when I had a challenging situation with unfortunate illness during our stay. Our room was comfortable and clean. For a 2 star property, this punched above its weight. The location is really optimal for harbor activities ~ just a few blocks to walk to USS Midway, Maritime Museum, and public transit. This property is largely well maintained, with just a few opportunities for updates (for one, damage to a baseboard surrounding the check-in desk could be repaired for a stronger first impression). The complimentary hot beverage maker in the lobby was a great touch! The pool was a lovely space, but temp was a bit cold for outdoors in January. The hot tub felt awesome! Grateful for our stay here!

The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and looked recently remodeled. Bed was a bit firm for my taste, but the mattress was sealed with a nice cover to protect it. Shower had amazing pressure and hot water.

We unfortunately had a really negative stay at this hotel. Check in was really easy, and we were charged $30 for overnight parking. When we got in our room, we unpacked and my husband went to take a shower. We had no hot water. After running the shower for 10 minutes, we called the front desk. A lady told me that due to low occupancy they needed to turn knobs to turn on the hot water. She told me to let the water run for 10 more minutes and then to call back if it didn’t work. We waited 10 minutes and the water was slightly warm, so I called the lobby again. At this point we were already late to our dinner reservation. A man answered the front desk and told us that he would come up to our room. We waited until he showed up and he acknowledged our ongoing issue. He told us that we could shower in another room if we wanted, but since we were already late to a dinner reservation, we didn’t have time to pack up our entire room and switch to a different one just to shower. He told us to wait longer and call back in the morning if the problem persisted. We ended up missing our dinner reservation and went out to try to salvage our night with no shower. In the morning we still had no hot water. Since we had been spending so much time on the bathroom running water, we began to notice what looked like blood splattered on the wall and on the door jam. The comforter also had a brown stain on it. We left in the morning after taking a cold shower and we will never be back to this hotel.

I want to give a shout out to the hotel staff (especially Jovan) for accommodating our room requests on the spot. My friend and I booked our stays separately and we wanted rooms near each other, and they were able to accommodate this request. They were very patient and professional in helping us and we really appreciated that!

Bathtub was clogged. Water did not drain. Vending machine on 6th fl, where my room was located was not working. Had to use the lobby vending machine. No elevators in parking garage. Had walk annd roll my luggage fien the cramped parking structure. Other that room was clean and location was great, walking distance to little Italy.

Staff was very helpful in helping understand the rail system and help us find places to eat. Cons - There is no continental breakfast, nor the breakfast go bags. For the price of this hotel I found that very lacking. They now have restaurant next door that is Very expensive for toast, eggs etc. You'll have better breakfast options about a block over at the Harbor House, but they also are not budget conscious. Parking is a premium Pro - underground locked garage. Con - Pricey.

Hotel worked perfectly for my stay. Room was clean and comfortable and a great location. Lots of restaurants I could walk to and also close to the trolley and the harbor. Staff was all nice and helpful.

I loved the coffee machine that was in the lobby that dispensed cappuccinos/ hot chocolate and coffee! The area around the hotel is very walkable with a restaurant next to the hotel and a Starbucks across. There are many restaurants and cafes just a couple minutes away and the ocean was about a 10-15 min walk. I would recommend this hotel to others, 5 stars!

Beautiful place with amazing views and not to mention that the staff is extremely friendly. Definitely a comeback destination for us!

It was also an easy walk to the Petco stadium. It only took us 30 minutes to walk there . Very close to water front 5 minutes walk . Would stay here again . Some of the streets did smell like urine especially by the train station as a few homeless were around there but you were never bothered by them .

Near the boardwalk and the bayside view was beautiful! I was able to see the ocean and ship from my hotel.

Everything was excellent with the area the service. And even with complimentary coffee and special coffee’s like Mocha and Latte. The pool and hot top was nice too and open late which it’s a big plus. The one thing I didn’t like was the shampoo, conditioner & body were not good at all. We had to buy our own cuz neither was with using. That will be my only issue they would need to improve.

Pleasantly surprised. Room was nice and up to date. Even had both USB-C and USB-A ports in each nightstand and the desk. Room was clean and well equipped. Amenities are negligible Small pool tightly surrounded by rooms, extremely small fitness room, no breakfast. But if you want a well equipped room walkable to all of Little Italy and other downtown areas, it's a great room for the price.

The hotel is right in the middle of the city close to every sites and the hotel has big rooms with all what you need excellent place to stay

I don't understand there is a coffee maker but there is no bottle water. Other hotels provide a couple of bottle water for the coffee every single day.

Parking is okay. Coffee maker in lobby was nice. No complimentary breakfast. Room was clean, beds comfy, was pressure in shower was great.

Overall satisfactory stay. Property was clean and well maintained and staff were helpful, jacuzzi was awesome and friendly and location was pretty ideal. Only gripe is that for the price charged I expected more updated modern rooms, especially bathroom that for the most part was a couple of notches above a motel.

Walking distance to the light rail

The hotel was in a great location right in the middle of downtown San Diego. It is about a quarter mile walk away from the marina. There is no beach access for swimming/walking through. The beach access is across the bridge in Coronado Island (which is beautiful, about 15 min drive). There are homeless throughout the downtown area. However, my family and I never felt unsafe or threatened. Also, the hotel has a nice and safe parking area. It is worth the $30 a day fee. My family enjoyed the pool & spa. Very clean & located in a nice private alcove. The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious & clean. The view of the ocean from our room was gorgeous. I would return to Bayside again.

Excellent location for 4th July long weekend. Short walk to waterfront and Little Italy, plenty of ubers around for longer trips. Comfortable room, microwave and fridge handy, good service. Would happily stay again.

This place is right on the corner of little Italy we only stay here when we visit once a year. Great restaurants, walking distance everywhere.

Perfect location to walk to Petco Park, Gaslamp Quarter, Embarcadero, and Little Italy.

Great price for the location: parking is a bit tight but nothing terrible. Hotel was definitely very safe—only way to access anything besides the lobby is with a keycard! Only issue was when I booked through Expedia it had the hotel listed as breakfast provided—there is even a sign in the elevator showing “Breakfast Provided” but it is misleading, borderline a lie. The breakfast is available at the very pricey restaurant adjacent to the hotel with a 10% discount. Almost $20 for three pancakes is outrageous in my opinion even in a downtown restaurant of a major city. Ended up having to spend more money than planned because of having to pay for breakfast (not at the restaurant because as I said those prices were unbelievable.) Overall very good experience, nice pool, fantastic location near pretty much everything you could need for a great trip to SD!

This hotel was very close to the sante fe depot station and within walkable distance of little italy so it was a perfect location. parking on the property was an extra charge but the parking garage was very convenient to have and easy in and out access throughout the day.
