Reviews
The Bahia Resort Hotel is praised for its beautiful grounds, convenient location, and friendly staff. However, there are consistent complaints about noise, parking difficulties, and outdated or unclean rooms.
- Beautiful grounds and convenient location
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Noise issues, particularly from weddings and nearby traffic
- Parking difficulties and unhelpful staff during check-in
- Outdated or unclean rooms
- Inconsistent service quality

Clean rooms and very family friendly. Close to the beach. We love it at The Bahia!

Clean, friendly professional staff, great location.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent and well as all the amenities. Very family friendly with tons of stuff to do for everyone. Would definitely recommend. 5 stars!
- 5/5
Property was great!! Loved the space available in room. Hot in bedroom so it’s obvious why they put a fan in for air movement. Clean and comfortable. Room service was pricey but worth it after a long day and not wanting to lug kids out before dinner & fun. Hotel check-in attendant was TERRIBLE. lackluster. Looking at his phone and definitely NOT creating a Bahia you’re going to love this place. I would guess he’s been there toooo long and forgets WE ARE ON VACATION! Make it great or at least do your job. Smile and tell me how great this place is. Don’t just put info on counter run my card and say next. I believe his name was Daniel.

We loved our stay the Bahia. The location is great —5 minutes to SeaWorld and a 15 minute walk to Mission Beach and Belmont Park so we didn’t have to worry about finding a parking space on a busy weekend. Brunch at the Dockside was delicious, the staff were incredibly friendly. I appreciated the room upgrade without even asking. It was a pleasant surprise! They were also accommodating to my request for late checkout. I would definitely stay again! Thank you!
- 5/5
We had such an amazing time at the resort. The kids loved the seals, paddle boarding in the bay, bon fire at the beach and lots of pool time!
- 3/5
Stayed three nights, trucks/heavy equipment on property woke me at 6:30 AM every morning. And another round at 7:30AM. Not guest focused.
- 5/5
Very clean nice for family

Do not let the "resort" label fool you; this is nothing more than an overpriced, outdated hotel. I have absolutely no clue why people gave this place more than two stars—it is honestly impossible to understand how anyone could rate it higher. Staying here was a massive disappointment, and I deeply regret not choosing a much cheaper hotel with a pool near Mission Beach instead. Family of 6 - 2 rooms! The Bad: Outdated & Musty Rooms: The rooms are incredibly old and have a horrible, moldy odor. To make matters worse, they don't even turn on the AC before you check in, so you walk right into a hot, stagnant room. Broken AC: The air conditioning is terrible and completely stopped working in the middle of the night, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Overpriced/No Amenities: There is no complimentary breakfast—expect to pay an arm and a leg if you want to eat here. Underwhelming "Resort" Features: The pool is completely basic and nothing special, and the "beach" is entirely useless. Safety Concerns: There is no enforced speed limit on the property. This place is vastly overrated and absolutely not worth the premium price tag. Save your money, skip the headache, and book elsewhere.

Overall it was excellent. Staff was friendly, food in the restaurants was very good, location is great and room was very nice. However, patio doors and bathroom shower faucets need updating and were difficult to use.
- 5/5
Nice place to stay. Close to the beach and food. A short drive to groceries or other food places. Nice pool
- 3/5
Good location. But very old room. Most uncomfortable sofa bed
- 5/5
Beachfront rooms were great.
- 5/5
would recommend some additional handicap parking. Other than that, my visit was fantastic.
- 5/5
I loved my time there! It was a solo trip and I felt safe. My room was clean and the staff was beyond courteous and helpful. Awesome, drinks, dinner, and sunset! I want to being my family there and have the experience of the bay outside our doors and the ocean within walking distance. Thank you for everything.
- 2/5
The property is in desperate need of a face lift
- 4/5
Would recommend to stay at this resort.
- 3/5
Location was nice
- 3/5
Confused on the pricing I was looking at the total price which $1100 plus and minus the $200 credit I was looking at $900Plus. but at the property they charged me for the taxes and fees, and you guys charged me for the rooms and when I was searching, I was looking for pool, breakfast, kitchen and parking. but when I went there the breakfast was separate.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing. Rooms are small but clean. Beachfront is highly recommended.
- 4/5
The 2 queen suite was comfortable. Large enough for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The resort is close to the oceanside, walking distance. Parking is cramped. The double bed regular room was too cramped, and I had to upgrade. Also wasn't very clean. The upgrade was cleaner. Disappointed with the beach description. It is a bay area, lots of boats. Good for small kids maybe or just to lay out.
- 5/5
The swimming pool and hot tub were both very clean and well maintained. There was a bar near the pool, but it closed at 5:00 p.m. each day. It would have been more convenient if it remained open until at least 8:00 p.m. The Airstream that sells coffee and breakfast items was not available for a few days during our stay, but when we were able to get coffee there, it was very good. The gift shop also had a great selection of items. We dined at Bianchi, and the food was delicious. We also enjoyed being within walking distance of Belmont Park, which was about a 12-minute walk from the resort and provided a lot of family fun. Overall, Bahia Resort is a wonderful place to stay. The location, amenities, and beautiful surroundings made for a memorable family vacation, and we would gladly stay there again.
- 3/5
Room and facility was okay. The location was great for Mission Beach access. The room was clean but dated. It worked but wasn’t exceptional. Staff was okay and friendly. Has to ask for things that could have been available at check in.

Wonderful views and plenty for the kids to do. Amazing location. Walking distance to the beach, taco shop, liquor store, and other souvenir shops!

We like the location and the grounds to the property. The bay/beach activities are also convenient.

- 4.5/5
The location, the staff, the surroundings, it felt like we were in Mexico or Hawaii jungle vibes … everything was a surprise, the views, the trail you walk, the trees, the seals, the pool, the restaurants!! The bathroom was tiny and smelled very weird, even my kids complained about this. and the prices for food/drinks inside the restaurant are INSANELY high
- 2.5/5
I liked the location. They never gonna give you a good room, if you hadn't booked directly from them.

Private beach Small bugs near the parking lot. Location- Not too many walkable attractions.

The property was amazing. The seals are adorable. The restaurant had great food in both dockside and the pizza. It was amazing to sit on the private beach in great chairs and table. The pool area great. The location could not be more perfect. Mission beach steps away and close. Perfect stay.
- 5/5
Beautiful place. Only stayed one night but had great food and service. Beach cottages are nice touch. Great little get away.
- 2.5/5
The restaurants were very nice, reasonably priced, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The room was in terrible condition. The carpet was filthy, the wallpaper was peeling, the furniture was broken. The room was not designed for extended stay. The layout and the size of the bathroom made it tricky for a family of three to stay comfortably. There was no storage in the actual bathroom. We had to use the bar area for toiletries . And housekeeping only came once. One day we were gone from early morning till 3pm and they still hadn't come. We chose Bahia because of the activities, but they were a lot less impressive in person. The private beach wasn't someplace we wanted to get in the water, and the cabanas were very dirty. I don't know how often they clean them but we didn't want to touch the pillows. There is a small playground, there is a pickle ball or tennis court, we never used. The garden is a nice walk through and the seals were fun. There were no paddle boat rentals and the riverboat only runs on Sunday. They are renovating rooms, but ours clearly wasn't. I don't know how many are already renovated, but they shouldn't be using the rooms that aren't if they are in as bad condition as ours was. I have stayed at some really cheap hotels with better rooms than this one. We mad ethe best of it and had a great vacation despite the room and lack of activities. It definitely eas not a resort room, and was not worth the money. We would only stay again if a renovated room was guaranteed and the price was dropped significantly.
- 4/5
Property beautiful!! So much to enjoy!! Rooms were just a tad outdated and not many working outlets. Some rusty areas in bathroom. But other than that, everything was wonderful!
- 5/5
The ebst part of this Hotel is the location. I love that it is on the Bay and only a few blocks from the Ocean. Close to great restaurants and somer action.
- 3/5
We liked the beach view a lot. What we weren't happy about was the fact that the staff were not upfront in telling us that they assigned us to a room with stairs. All they asked was if any in our party has a disability. They wish they were more upfront in asking how do we feel about being assigned to an upstairs room with no elevator. Honesty plays a big role in customer service. So we declined the upstairs room because of my son's preference. He liked the previous rooms that we had before where the beach is easily accessible. Long story short, our room took a good 1 hour from the check in time to be ready. They were nice to offer us a snack voucher "for free" while waiting for the room. It could've been nice (again) if the voucher was indeed complimentary but it wasn't. They charged us for the snack in our final bill.

I like the area of the hotel, it was central to the different theme parks that my family and I did together. But I didn’t like was the overall amenity of the room, when we first showed up, there was broken glass in the refrigerator. The exhaust fan on the bathroom did not work. The pullout bed was incredibly uncomfortable for my mother-in-law. There was a huge gap underneath the entry door which allowed for a lot of noise to come in. Overall, it was an OK day, but if the rooms were in better shape, and the small things were addressed, it would’ve been a great stay.
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay.
- 2/5
Great location but not well maintained.

Was comfortable and clean. Property was amazing. Would definitely recommend
- 5/5
We were in the back of the resort that backs up to Gleason Road. There were many people living in their cars on that side of the bay. We had no issues but I think it's important to let quests know that there is homeless people living that close to the resort. Especially for the price we are paying for the suites. Overall, we had an amazing time and most likely visit again, but will be a little choosey about where our room is.

We liked the size of the room. We originally booked a room with a view but were changed. I had been messaging months in advance to make sure with zero response. Our room over viewed the parking lots full Of homeless people. Room was musty and not clean found food and legit finger nails under the living room dresser. The beach for the hotel was dirty lots of trash the picking beach was cleaner which was sad since there were lots of homeless. Least it was all walking Lack of communication from property and what they take for incidentals was a little upsetting since I wasn’t prepared for that much but I get it. We were also supposed to have a kitchenette that didn’t happen and no items to eat off of, I pinch my Pennie’s and everything that we were prepared to get we didn’t get. However if you use your incidentals you’re pretty much seen as at risk and they take more from your card. Again I get it but for a holiday weekend and we only spent 220 out of the 600 little upsetting. Just would like better communication. Staff were nice but again the rudeness when we asked about why they took more were rude and we were told because we can. Policies were vague, we just tried to make the best of the rest of the trip for what you pay for a room you don’t get anything no food included, no drinks I mean a dirty room. We got more and a much nicer room at a holiday express. For a resort I would have expected better which is what we were hoping for the experience. O well least the bed were comfortable and the room space was great. We choose it for the reviews but it really is not family friendly more of a business meeting and adult place who wants quiet. We did have lots of families the few I spoke with were also in the same boat as well feeling like we all walked on eggshells. I have little kids and I’m super strict especially in public but even when they are walking being quiet it still felt just off I dunno if your a mom you know what I mean. We won’t be staying here again which is a bummer we had high hopes.
- 5/5
The room was clean except we did have a single roach. The bathroom sinked filled quickly and needed to be unclogged. Otherwise, the room was visually clean. The staff were kind and accommodating. We didn’t use the beach really but, it was a wonderful bay view. It’s a family and pet friendly hotel which we loved. Being able to have our dog with us made it that much more enjoyable. We ate at Dockside restaurant which is pricey but the food is good and the service was excellent. It was a perfect short distance from Seaworld. Overall, we’d stay again!
- 5/5
Overall good experience except some of our appliances in the room were not working, they need to upgrade the TV to allow streaming compatible. More options for coffee and refill them every day. Pool and bay were great!
- 5/5
I had the jr.suite facing the bay it was a beautiful view. The room was extra spacious. The distance from the resort to the beach and restaurants was about five minutes walking. The pool was heated and huge. The Jacuzzi was also very large. I have kids so having a huge pool was necessary. Great stay and definitely will be back!
- 4.5/5
I really enjoy the location being in a center of Mission Bay. Having access to the tennis courts, gym and pool was definitely a plus. Prior to my arrival, I communicated with staff about having a stove/oven in the room and I was confirmed. Yes so I brought a lot of food since it was a long stay comes to find out there was not one so a lot of food was wasted.

The staff was great. The beach access is wonderful. The two things I wish I had known about was our extremely out dated and dirty room. The carpet, smell and ripped sheets felt like i was staying at a motel 6 off a freeway. If you are to stay DO NOT get a room in the back. The low fence and short bushes made us feel extremely unsafe. I was shocked. At night there were people sleeping in thier cars and drunk people just feet away from your sliding glass door. Those two things will stop us from ever going back. If it wasn't for those two things I would give this place an absolutely glowing review because it was beautiful and the staff were all so very nice! It felt like who ever owns or manages it is cutting so major corners.

Staff was great. Property is beautiful if a bit weathered. Close to beach and right on bay. Recommend for a reasonably priced getaway versus other SD Bay hotels.

We enjoyed the restaurants and view of the bay! The landscape was beautiful. The room was small and the bathroom look like it needed more cleaning. It is an old hotel. The service and staff were helpful and pleasant to talk too! Overall it was a fun place to stay.

So here’s my honest review . The resort is perfectly located. Steps away from own beach , garden is gorgeous. However here’s my take: for as much as we paid for our room and the additional “resort fee” each day. The rooms were very dated ! Old carpet, old furniture, horrible water pressure in the shower , awful glueing toilets. Cheap single ply toilet paper , 0 space in bathroom vanity , vanity sits at an angle where no matter what u put next to the sink , it slides into the sink. Hot tub closes at 10. That was frustrating. We stayed 7 nights . Although we did enjoy our time , I’ve stayed in nicer resorts with much better rates . Rooms just need major updates . Sort of suprised that this resort didn’t have laundry. (Only paid per garment dry cleaning ) staying 7 days , playing in thr water etc - we had to make two seperate trips to a local laundromat. Another negative, when we booked we were told there were two sea lions on premises. They weren’t . Pretty disappointed in that. The trailer / airstream that serves breakfast was pretty good . No matter the room the views were great . Walking distance to Belmont park. We will stay again next year, for an entire week- but truly hope they invest in some updates , Laundry machines and BETTER TOILET PAPER !

The Bahia is right on the water in Mission Bay. The view is nice particularly if you like looking at a bunch of docked boats. We chose to stay this time in room with a garden view. It’s a beautiful garden with a small waterfall, palm trees, and patches of grass. The garden was quiet and relaxing. My only suggestions for improving the room are to clean the carpet and to add some additional lighting because it was a bit dark for reading.

I love the view from our room. It was so peaceful to look out and see the bay and all the water activities going on. We also walked as many times as we could through what we called the secret Garden, which is where I think the weddings take place the fountains in the water and the ducks and flowers were beautiful. The weather wasn’t great. It was a little too cold to sit at the beach, but that’s not the Hotel‘s fault. We enjoyed the pool.

This place is one of the best ocean front places I have been. The staff was amazing and the room was spectacular. The beach on the bay was killer. Sailboats everywhere, and wild life was amazing. Very close to Seaworld and they have a good selection of room if you don't want water front. The store is super clean and good stuff. We are planning our next trip very soon once we get more PTO.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean with beach front access. Full size refillable shampoo/soap/conditioner and plenty of towels was appreciated! The only draw back was no microwave, so getting a box for leftovers is less useful. Onsite restaurants were delicious and very convenient, the duck pond, hot tub and pool were excellent. Altogether a great experience!

Stay here if you want to pay hundreds for no rest/sleep due to constant noise. What unrelaxing view of a noisy public beach! No where does it say weddings may be held above your $400+ a night room until 12 am. Stay here if you don’t want rest and want to pay huge sum of money. Fights yelling and loud music and animals roaming in our hotel view because a PUBLIC beach was our view. Extremely misleading website and photos. So disappointed. Hotel security was no help and told me to call the police. Never in my life have I had to do that during a vacation. I would have paid more for a different room if I knew all of these drawbacks for the one I picked. Zero stars. Nothing good here. Money grab. Attached pic of people that got locked in the public beach and the made their own way out at 1am no security in sight because they don’t monitor the public beach. Extremely dangerous surroundings

Needs renovation immediately
- 5/5
We stayed 5 days. The staff was amazing. The beaches were cleaned daily. For the big events, they had security atthe entrance to keep out event patrons so the hotel patrons had plenty of parking. We rented bikes to go ride on the boardwalk, which was 2 blocks up from hotel, then we were able to keep them in our room. Overall-great experience and would recommend to anyone.

Walls are very thin. As a “resort” we did not expect to be disturbed by noises outside of our room or to be woken up by the sound of lawn mower.

There was construction around our room and not much for a view. The room looked clean, but we have small children and when we took clorox wipes to the kitchen and bathrooms, the dirt showed as well as the fridge was not wiped fown.

Good for kids with the pool and amenities. Rooms are dated from the 70's-80's but remodeled recently. Floors were obviously never cleaned because you walk around barefoot on the laminate floor and your feet turn black. Beds are really hard and uncomfortable - we all slept horrible there. Hoping it was just that one room but we would really think before going again because of that. This is close to the an inner ocean bay which is good for kids and close to the shops and Amusement park.

If you’re looking for a place to truly disconnect and enjoy a peaceful beach setting without the crowds, this hotel delivers. The private beach alone makes it worth the stay, and I would absolutely come back.

Property is old but well maintained. Our room was clean and quiet, but it can be busy on weekends. Have stayed at this property several times and usually have no issues, very easy to walk down to Belmont Park and public parking if needed

- 3/5
Potential but underachieving. We were disappointed to learn a week before that the pool would be closed for two of the days of our stay. The sister property was offered and nice but still a drive.. The hotel itself is dated and needing some upgrades (loose toilet seat, patio door heavy and hard to close, flickering light in bathroom). The prices are hard to justify that sort of quality. Location great, beach great. Food options good.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, breakfast at the restaurant was delicious and the ambiance was amazing, staff at all levels were friendly and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
- 4/5
Staff, from the front desk to the on site restaurants, were great- friendly & helpful. Grounds are beautiful. But, the $48 resort fee is ridiculous and the public park outside of the hotel draws a lot of people living in vans and homeless people.

Front desk was not nice. They cancelled our reservation and the realized it was their mistake and crammed 6 adults into one very small room and said it’s the same from we reserved. The pictures shown are not the rooms you get. We have stayed here for over 40 years. Just a disappointment to what we used to get. The front desk staff was not helpful and didn’t even apologize for cancelling the reservation. Or trying to help us get the room we reserved. Those really had gone down.
- 5/5
I liked agility of the reception desk Team. I was surprised as our bedroom has a shared balcony. I didn't expect that. I made complain and Team was agile to solving that. We got the bedroom with shared balcony. Actually It was a part of bigger apartment. Fortunately It was not occupied and we got the whole appartment.
- 5/5
Great location, private beach, great food at the restaurants. Short walk to Mission Beach which is awesome. Outdoor Pool and hot tub is a nice feature to have. Overall Great place to stay
- 5/5
The room and grounds were immaculate the staff was helpful and friendly
- 4/5
The rooms are old and it felt very stuffy the entire time we were there, regardless of AC setting ! Also, the first night we were there, there was a fight or something right outside our room that went on for like 20 minutes! People yelling in the middle of the night. The dockside restaurant is over priced IMO and the waiter was kind of rude/snippy. The beach area was decent. Our favorite part was the pool/hot tub. Kevin at the bar was great too. The scenery for pictures was great and the pickleball courts were awesome as well! Overall okay but not the nicest place regarding upkeep.
- 5/5
We loved the beach front location. Would come back again.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
They put on the best Easter egg hunt! Perfect for the kids.
- 5/5
Heated pool and Spa were great as our kids cannot resist a swim in the pool. Staff of the hotel really went above and beyond!
- 5/5
Staff were amazing, I had a delayed flight for the next day and they were so nice about it. We did come at a time where they were touching up the property, such as cleaning the pool, reconstructing the seals location and a few other things. The beach was still amazing and there were a ton of other things to do to keep busy! The staff are very accommodating - I couldn’t have had a better stay!!
- 5/5
Great hotel, fun stay and perfect weather
- 5/5
Great location
- 3/5
Faucet not working, shower not working, clogged sink, hard to get hot water from the shower
- 5/5
Great get away for my husband and me.
- 2/5
El ventilador en el baño no funcionaba, el cuarto estaba enfrente de donde los empleados descargaban mercancía osea queen las mañanas hacían mucho ruido. En el baño solo dejaban un rollo de papel, ni me pareció lo suficiente.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly
- 4/5
Property is really lush and gives off Polynesian vibes although could do with a reno
- 4.5/5
Superb
- 5/5
Very friendly
- 5/5
Beautiful view of the mussion bay. Close to the beach and many great places to eat and do things
- 3/5
Which is why overall I am giving the resort a 3 vs a 2 star. The reason why is the room wasn’t 100% clean throughout the stay. Housekeeping didn’t come back after we requested them to. The room was allowed to fill up with trash and dirty linens over 2 days. If I hadn’t called down to request housekeeping I’m not sure when or if they would have come back. Also when I initially had to call to adjust my reservation it took 3 separate front desk people to take care of me, and it came down to their discretion and not a policy. Finally the pool onsite was closed which should be a discounted rate for guests.
- 5/5
Drapes were broken in room.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
The beach, tennis and pool were very nice. The location was awesome, walking distance to Belmont Park and mission beach. I’d advise to not stay in building 4, it’s the furthest from the lobby (they have a golf cart to drive you but it’s not always available) and it’s probably closest to trash or something, you can hear trucks backing up first thing in the morning.
- 5/5
The staff is beyond welcoming and friendly. Wonderful experience.
- 4.5/5
Superb
- 5/5
Celebrated our 30th Anniversary and stayed 5 days and 4 nights and Tim at front desk made it more exceptional with another of upgrade, cost an extra $50 a night but I’m glad we did. The location of property close to everything.
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
yes
- 5/5
Peaceful and enjoyable
- 5/5
Bay view room had a great view, carpet and drapes very outdated and need to be replaced, remodeled.
- 4/5
👌
- 3/5
The suite had a bay view, but the trees blocked it almost completely. The suite was far away from the main area. It needs a remodel — feels like a '90s Hilton. There was only an AC unit in the main room, and none in the bedroom! There was a kitchenette, but nothing in the drawers- no napkins, silverware, plates, dish towels, etc. There is no elevator to the second floor. The gift shop was very limited for eats and drinks. Both restaurants were better than expected--a high point! Would not return at any price.
- 4/5
Great location and the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and nice. The elevator in the hotel is like amusement ride [scary} and the bathroom in the jr suite was a little small otherwise very nice
- 5/5
Really everything we wanted. Beautiful view. Good size suit. Close to SeaWorld & beautiful beaches. The private beach was really cute too.
- 4/5
Cons: the rooms desperately need updating. Half of the things in the room were broken. The hotel advertises a kitchenette but there’s absolutely nothing this would allow you to cook meals (no pots, cutlery, plates, etc), only a microwave. Room gets cleaned every 3 days.
- 5/5
This was an amazing trip.I wanna go back again
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the Bahia Resort! The pool and pickleball/tennis courts were fun and not crowed! We loved the Easter Brunch. Fun place to stay for families!
- 5/5
Family friendly with many onsite activities and near by dinning options
- 5/5
The rooms were spacious and very clean. The entire property was well kept. The staff was friendly.
- 3/5
The room was outdated and bad lighting. Our room did not offer view, balcony or patio. Shocked as you can see pics and rooms show at least one or another.
- 3/5
Good location, friendly staff, provided necessities when asked Parking was hit or miss, and the direction of traffic is misleading.
- 3.5/5
I requested a specific sink configuration, and not only was our request accommodated, we were also given a recently renovated room that was much larger than expected. We had a great view of the public beach in the towers. While the rooms are a little dated, the staff were great. We only tried the breakfast "airstream" option, which was delicious but very high-priced. The Bahia is a great option if you want to walk to Belmont Park, Mission Beach or many neighborhood restaurants. Rooms and common spaces were a little dated. Food at the restaurants and sundries at the store were on the high side, even for the area.
- 4/5
A lot trash around the bins
- 4/5
The resort is in a great location! Walking distance to the Belmont park and beach. The amenities are great! We especially enjoyed having a tennis court on site. The property was older but the upkeep was good. Our kids like the seals that were on the property. We enjoyed our week stay, the only thing was that it can get noisy at night with people party at the beach or in rooms around. It was a great value stay.
- 3/5
Things needed to be updated…sliding doors were hard to open and close lights in bathroom flickering, drains were slow
- 5/5
Great location, family friendly and great staff. There’s a public street and parking along side of the hotel residences. Gets loud and questionable activity from the vans, cars, trucks,,dogs etc
- 5/5
Clean, beautiful, loved the resort and Bay Area. Will def be coming back
- 5/5
Tim checked us in and was very friendly, efficient, excellent costumer service! Clean rooms!
- 4/5
We were here Easter week. Front desk was awesome! Upgraded our room upon arrival. Our room was ready early. The food at the restaurant , fish tacos, delicious. Restaurant service excellent. We didn’t do the Easter Brunch because it was unreasonably priced. A breakfast for four would have been the same as three nights stay. If the price were lower, we would have dined there for Easter. The area around hotel was not great. The boardwalk area was dirty and sketchy. We spent time at La Jolla instead. The hotel itself was cute. The outdoor food truck was very good!
- 4/5
Overall a very nice stay. Beautiful
- 5/5
Oceanfront view was awesome...definitely coming back
- 5/5
Staff was really friendly
- 5/5
Love the property, friendly employees and a lot of options nearby.
- 4/5
This was a nice family-friendly hotel. It was fairly quiet, except that our room backed onto a public park There was a nice pool and hot tub, and plenty of facilities, but away from the main area, the place had a motel vibe. Staff was kind and attentive. We had a minor maintenance issue, and the maintenance man was at our room within 5 minutes of our text request. Appreciated having a bathtub in the bathroom, but the toilet was very low to the ground. Would stay here again. The location, near the beach walk and just across the street from the ocean, was extremely convenient. Outside grounds (landscaping, bushes, flowers) were quite lovely. We really liked the hotel for breakfast. Parking lot was narrow and hard to navigate at times. Noise was occasionally an issue.
- 3/5
The good: -A large portion of the grounds are beautifully landscaped. -The front desk staff are wonderful overall. -The beds and linens are nice, which is tough to maintain at a beach hotel. The not so good: -This hotel is NOISY: -I expected the road noise from Mission Bay Drive, which was very notable from 7-10pm most nights. What I didn't expect was the noise from the resort staff, -
- 5/5
So much to do onsite and nearby area. Beach within walking distance. Staff were wonderful and caring. Went the extra mile to send milk and cookies to my son on his birthday after he fell and broke his arm while on vacation.
- 5/5
The Bahia Resort was a great place to stay with our two kids. The staff was friendly, the resort was clean, they offered a lot of activities, and the location was great! We would stay there again.
- 4.5/5
The coffee/breakfast area was cute but very slow service.
- 5/5
This is our third time staying here,it’s a great location. You can walk to the restaurants on property or off property. Beautiful grounds
- 5/5
Amazed not only by the resort, but the entire area. It is a real beach town, authentic in a way that most California beach towns just aren't anymore. The staff was absolutely on point and made our stay comfortable and easy from arrival to departure. The grounds were immaculate and thankfully not needlessly opulent. I've really only had an experience even close to this at much more expensive resorts, and to be frank, I like this one more. The restaurants on site were absolutely delicious and priced fair. The park across the street was perfect for warly rise kids before beach time or Belmont park (a five minute walk). Really though the thing I want to really get across is the total vibe of the area...heck, I was on zillow planning our future at one point! Cannot say enough, 10 stars, amazing, will do again, absolutely recommend.
- 5/5
So, I recommend staying here but plan for the ludicrous security hold, and keep an eye on mystery charges.
- 3/5
Highlights: seal rescue, morning coffee truck, easy beach access, staff was fantastic and very helpful! Hot tub was nice and clean! Improvements: we had a parking lot facing room so minimal time on our patio, our lamp between beds was difficult to get on and then eventually didn’t work when we returned to our room the last night, the outlets are very strangely spaced and were inaccessible for one of the beds which was inconvenient.
- 1/5
Rooms were not clean Super small and old. No counter space.
- 4/5
didn't really like the parking situation. Our room was way at back and parking limited. We paid when really didn't need to if we parked outside the hotel, but wasn't informed til later that we could have had that option.
- 4/5
I was disappointed since I booked and paid more for two queen beds, but when I was there it’s all booked. They they downgraded me to a king room with the price of the queen. Also we paid for the parking and there was not really safe since someone broke into our car and break the outside handle. They said it’s wasn’t at there property, which we are sure it was. Other than that it was nice place to stay.
- 3/5
Second, they charge a $48/day "resort fee" on top of what youre already paying...apparently the Wifi is part of that, but hardly worth taking the time to log into it. Last, bring your own coffee. They do supply two k-cups (and one decaf, but that doesnt count) and powder creamer, I would love to see the resort fee go toward a little better... But you can buy a $6 cup at 7am from their food truck... All that said- on a good note - the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pool was well kept and maintained and clean. The beach is kept nicely groomed as well. And its a very short walk to the ocean beach, amusement park, and lots of shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
The photo promotes a slider with patio seating for the resort room, however, our room did not have this. The location of our room was great. I would say all rooms have easy access to the beach. The gift shop was very nice and had aloe when we needed it! Food on site is spendy. We wished for a microwave but we did have a small fridge. Pickleball was a blast! Be sure to take the scenic route through the middle of the property! I felt very safe walking around and over to mission beach at night too!
- 5/5
Older property but very clean. Would return!
- 5/5
Great room, great location, great amenities
- 5/5
Great calming place to stay
- 4/5
Our King Suite w/Kitchenette room did overlook the beach, however there is a road between the property and the beach, so not really the best. The Kitchenette had full cupboards, a toaster, mini fridge and a sink, but didn't have any dishes, utensils, or glasses so brining your own food or groceries back to the room is a bit useless, we had to get some to-go utensils and soup cup from the restaurant so the kids could have toast and cereal in the mornings.
- 5/5
Super nice and fun resort. Nice bed, great staff. So many things within walking distance. There's a stupid curb thing by the check in area that is not very visible and we definitely ran into it. Not fun. Other than that we're totally would stay here again. Restaurant was fancy and delicious
- 3/5
Pictures for this hotel were not at all what we experienced when we got there. The property was not very clean, we did not get the room and experience we thought we were going to have. The property seemed rundown. We expected the more resort like experience, with staff on hand, but that was not the case. We had a suite for a family, and we had to ask for everything from towels to toilet paper. The location was not bad. Close to the places we want to go.
- 5/5
This was a great resort. The staff was great. It was perfect for our first trip to San Diego as a family of 4 with two teens.
- 4.5/5
Friendly and professional staff-good location for exploring San Diego area Decor is slightly dated, but comfy
- 5/5
We loved how close it was to Belmont Park and the beach We wished there was a cheaper breakfast available with our stay.
- 1/5
Some areas of the "resort" are nice with lush greenery. The beach area provided by the resort is kept nice and clean. The Bianchi restaurant was good. Free daily water bottles in room (when they actually got replaced). Rundown room - broken closet doors, broken toilet paper holder, general dingy feeling, even though there is a kitchen there isn't so much as a wine opener or roll of paper towels provided. Housekeeping- stickers left on counters from last kids to stay in the room, took all towels and never replaced, had to call at 10:30pm for toilet paper because they never replaced supplies, 2 coffee cups, 2 water glasses & 4 towels for a suite that sleeps 6. Location- paid $1000 a night for a "bay suite" which looked over the parking lot to the public beach side of the "resort" meaning underneath our room was a constant rotation of homeless people smoking & living in vans. Apparently if you need a suite with 2 queen beds, this is the only view they offer.
- 5/5
Location and upkeep was amazing. Staff was very professional and was impressed with the pool man and young lady that were there every morning doing their job with a smile. I loved it!!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice and staff were all very attentive and helpful.
- 5/5
Great stay. Staff was great at check in and the Bianchi restaurant.
- 5/5
Great rooms very good location and friendly staff. 10/10
- 4/5
Staff was pleasant but not the most friendly. They accommodated requests quickly however, including getting a bottle opener and microwave. Rooms were a little musty smelling. Property was very beautiful. Food prices quite expensive especially the on-site restaurant. Hot tub was overloaded with people
- 5/5
Everything was phenomenal and outstanding about this resort and stay! From the pricing, to the location and amenities; will definitely be coming back for a longer stay. 10/10 highly recommend! Very clean and quiet location. Perfectly placed not to far from everything you’d want to do in the mission Bay area
- 4/5
Everything was really nice at the resort we really enjoyed our time great for families
- 5/5
the room was big and spacious didn’t get the room i wanted but it was still nice overall
- 5/5
Great location for us. Very walkable to bay, ocean, restaurants etc. staff was lovely. Beds were heavenly
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff was amazing.
- 5/5
The staff was great, friendly and accommodating. The resort is beautiful and most relaxing. Room was beautiful, comfortable and clean.
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was great
- 3/5
Staff was excellent! Breakfast at Dockside as well as drinks at Bianchi were awesome. Greet location as well! The room however was very outdated and smelled a bit musty.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Amazing location, cleanliness, and accommodations on the property. Our weekend was amazing and left us with the desire to return.
- 3/5
I give it three stars because no coffee available , everything closed at 9
- 5/5
Martin is an exceptional part of your team. He made us feel welcomed the moment we walked in. Bahia Resort just became our San Diego Hotel. Can’t wait to come back.
- 5/5
Fine
- 5/5
Yes!
- 4/5
Restaurants are a bit pricy though we had to leave site to go eat. We would stay again though for the scene
- 5/5
Good value for a 60+ yr old resort
- 3/5
The room was good, it just had a smell that i can not describe but it was bad in room 126.
- 5/5
Everything was super clean. Staff was phenomenal! Quick walk to the boardwalk. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Perfect location. Excellent rooms.
- 5/5
Good times
- 1/5
Very outdated hotel right off the ocean, very sad. AC was under another balcony so the water drops from upstairs was tapping ours keeping us up our whole stay. Food was expensive but wasn’t bad. I would spend a little more and stay somewhere else. Kinda looked like a retirement home.
- 4/5
CONS The escutcheon plate for the shower arm wasn’t attached to the wall. The bathroom vent doesn’t vent very well. The toilet paper dispenser is behind you, when seated on the toilet. The bathroom light is an unusual edge-lit, LED style, and it was 50/50 on whether they would flicker. The bathroom faucet was a cheap laminate style. The “stainless steel” veneer was potmarked with holes from the hard water. The wallpaper and carpet could use a refresh. The sliding patio door was a bear to operate, requiring a strong pull to slam it shut. The patio door lock didn’t have any tension in it. After “locking” the door, you could simply pull it open again and the latch would give way. The staff were generally indifferent. I encountered maybe a dozen on my stay, and only two greeted me (one was the desk clerk at check-in) PROS The grounds are lovely! I enjoyed the landscaping throughout the resort. The rescued seal habitat brings me great peace to see them enjoying their lives, sunbathing on the rocks. The duck pond is extensive, featuring several winding streams that loop to it, as well as 3 decks for viewing. The shuffleboard pavilion was awesome! I wish I had time to play a round. My 1st grader loved the playground, especially with its rock climbing elements. It was too cold during my stay to get into the water, but the private beach and pool looked inviting and well-maintained. Go for the resort, not the rooms!
- 5/5
Great customer service and rooms were clean, modern and roomy
- 3/5
The room was clean and very comfortable. There was no face towels or wash clothes in the room when I arrived but that was taken care of with one phone call. I also found left over food under the cabinet next to the toaster. Other than that everything was fine with the room. Parking gets hectic at night but the view definitely makes up for it. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would choose this hotel again in the future.
- 4/5
Location
- 4/5
Yes very clean and staff was great.
- 5/5
All the staff goes out of their way, the resort is in the middle of everything. No need to drive out. So many delicious restaurants in and close. The rooms were perfect. We enjoyed every minute there
- 5/5
Wonderful staff. Gorgeous facilities
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful - the staff, room, location. We didn’t go in the pool because we forgot swim gear but wanted to! Next time we will come in the summer :)
- 5/5
Amenities, location, great for families
- 5/5
Amazing place
- 4/5
Spacious rooms
- 5/5
Clean spacious room. Engaging, beautiful grounds. Nice large pool and hot tub. Friendly staff. Great location.
- 5/5
Our stay was awesome! Beach front room, quick and easy guest services and super clean property! We will be staying here again
- 5/5
Yes amazing
- 5/5
The room was perfect. The staff is amazing.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Nice location with reasonably walkable area. My only concern was walking back to room at night... lighting very poor so easy to get disoriented. Room was great with lovely balcony overlooking beach/bay. Was worried it might be noisy but not a problem. I will likely stay here again.
- 4/5
Friendly service! Great waitstaff and restaurants. Pool is beautiful. Lots of families with kids so it is loud. Rooms could've been cleaner and more updated, stayed in 238 and 239. Dirty bathroom floors and peeling wallpaper. Room 238 was particularly musty and a bit damp feeling. Would definitely request a bayfront view unit next time.
- 5/5
Love it here 😍
- 4/5
Everything was good, except sliding glass door in room outdated can can hear every little noise from outside specially at night we can hear people on the bay very loud around 2:00 am and also we didn’t see security staff at all.
- 5/5
Beautiful property and excellent amenities.
- 5/5
Great for value!!!
- 4/5
Staff super nice and helpful!! Great property!! Will stay again.
- 4/5
We would definitely stay back on the property away from check in again. Both times we’ve stayed the rooms are very clean, the property is beautiful, the staff is wonderfu, and the restaurants have very good food and service.
- 3/5
Over all good place to stay. Conveniently location to Mission beach. Hotel was built on 60s. It showed. Lightning in room wasn’t the best could be brighter. Safe didn't work at all. Room fronted a public park. There was a person living in a RV. Water took a long time to get heated
- 4/5
Christopher at the front desk is awesome. He gave us a lot of suggestions for different restaurants and was just cool to talk to. The rooms are a nice size and clean. The toilets are really small (and round not oval so guys, sorry) The hotel is old but the location cannot be beat if you want to walk to Mission Beach or bike to Pacific Beach. Overall we would stay again. Just wish they would update the rooms a bit and seriously, put in better toilets. Rest is great!
- 5/5
Front desk was very helpful when checking in
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and kitchen was nice but missing a sponge and wine opener. Clean room but the fires on the beach and RVs next to us put off a lot of smoke and exhaust. We will definitely stay here again but more in the center of the property.
- 2/5
The room kept shutting off power and the tub never drained properly. Kids next door was screaming along with their parent constantly. Not the greatest stay here.
- 5/5
Our room had an incredible view overlooking the water and the bridge — waking up to that scenery every morning was unreal. Truly a picture-perfect stay. Huge shoutout to Steven at check-in/concierge — he was outstanding. Super friendly, helpful, and made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. He went above and beyond and really set the tone for the whole trip. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Would 100% stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing coastal getaway!
- 4/5
I wish the website was more upfront about which amenities were available or not in January. For example, the Belle cruise boat was not running and the grab and go breakfast trailer was only open 2 mornings of my stay. Also, what’s the point of separate resort fees? Just include them in the room fee.
- 5/5
The hotel was great! The views were amazing! But the staff was absolutely top-notch! The people were super professional, super friendly, and knowledgeable, and took great care of us. We had seven rooms for three days and everything was amazing.
- 1/5
For paying a resort fee that no one ever mentioned until checkout we will never stay here again 👎
- 5/5
Beautiful and ni
- 5/5
We loved this resort and would come back again! Great for families and anyone needing a central location to explore San Diego.
- 4/5
The room was musty but clean
- 3/5
Rooms are old but mostly clean. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Too many people in the hot tub with screaming, splashing kids so not very relaxing. Pool is great. Lawn maintenance and waste management show up before 8am, even on weekends, so no chance of sleeping in.
- 4/5
Pretty good resort with a pool, tennis courts, however we found it a bit too expensive. The tennis balls were also old (depressurized).
- 5/5
Yes,so pleasant and smooth experience with kids with me only.
- 5/5
We stayed at Bahia Resort for a week. We enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean and spacious. Also, we got bay view. Resort was clean and wothin blocks away of mission beach. It was great experience. Staff was friendly too.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Great location and specious rooms. Property needs updating both inside and out side.
- 5/5
My room opened to a green belt and then the beach.
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly and we loved the room. Perfect size for me and my adult kiddos. Location was convenient and we’d definitely come back.
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly and helping.
- 5/5
Great room.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the service was absolutely awesome. I appreciate the staff and the readiness of keeping with the guest requirements at all times. Thank you.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly, food in restaurant was good, room felt old and musty
- 3/5
Room and amenities. This resort is outdated and needs upgrades. It Doesn’t give the resort feel, it’s just a normal hotel.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and beautiful property
- 5/5
Resort was great. Few downsides to note is that the hot tub was not working, the cabanas on the beach were missing cushions, etc.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing, this is the perfect place for families. Will definitely be back!
- 5/5
The pool is exceptional.
- 4/5
room was nice location was incredible , the bed was not comfortable hard to sleep ,. got a upgrade to the ocean view suite which was very nice unexpected! thank you Bahia Resort ,. My Girlfriend must have the room dark which it was only problem was the bed every think else was great thank you
- 5/5
We love the Bahia resort every time we stay
- 4/5
We chose this resort for its location which was great for morning walks and easy
- 4/5
Room was spacious and view was nice but very noisy
- 5/5
The room was larger than normal and it was amazing. The amenities are great and the food was fantastic. The staff were really accommodating.
- 3/5
The pictures Expedia uses are not accurate. We booked a bay view and ended up with trees that blocked out any view. The room only had slat blinds so it never fully got dark at night due the extreme lighting in the parking areas and decks. The resort in itself is fairly nice but it is budget for the area. The dockside restaurant was pretty good (pricey). If you book on Expedia you aren’t guaranteed anything from this hotel and they will not change your room/accommodation under any circumstances. If I went back I would book through the hotel 100%
- 3/5
Location: 5/5. Located on the water with plenty of activities and direct beach access. Food: 4/5. Dockside food is good and restaurant staff are friendly. Rooms: 1/5. We had the bay view double queen rooms. The views were beautiful, beds were comfy. However, the rooms had a dank musty smell that we could not overcome during our entire 3-day stay. The carpets are filthy and need to be replaced. The bathrooms were small and in acceptable condition but could be better. The patio access from our room was great. Room service and housekeeping: 5/5. Quick and efficient
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Very clean
- 1/5
They charged my for my deposit without return
- 5/5
Would stay here again with my family
- 3/5
We booked a bay view suite and the view was obstructed by trees, with the photos online not matching what we got. The room was old and dated, with the carpet seemingly old. The property amenities are good and the staff is friendly.
- 5/5
Very nice resort and family friendly. Although furniture could get a bit upgrade or new paint, all appliances and amenities are good to utilize, private beach is quiet and spacious. It is more for paddle boarding or kayaking as the water is very calm, no wave, which is also perfect for kids if you are bringing them. I would not recommend the restaurant so drive out of the hotel to get food instead.
- 4/5
This is a lovely hotel on the bay. It has Hawaiian vibes, spacious rooms, dining options, pool, tennis courts and even seals in an enclosure. Walking distance to Belmont Park and the beach.
- 3/5
The room smelled, the glass door was dirty, so was the whole room. The location is great, I’m not sure if we were just given a dirty room. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are spacious as well.
- 3/5
Loved the size of the room and the kitchenette especially the size of the fridge. Free parking which is amazing! The seals were a hit with the kids. The few draw backs were as follows. We found a lot of water in the bottom drawer of one nightstand which was promptly taken care of but a little unsettling. We also were placed on the 4th floor right below the ballroom (with 2 small children) with a wedding scheduled the time that we were there (not there for the wedding) which meant we had loud noise in our room until 10pm (pretty sure we were right under the DJ/Dance floor). No laundry services on site either which was a bummer since we have smaller kids who sometimes dirty multiple clothes a day but we made do.
- 5/5
Very Good resort, take note the reception area closes from 1:30 AM - 4:30 AM.
- 5/5
We loved our stay. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite on the private beach side and it was so amazing! We didn't want to leave. We sat on the patio and the beach bed and enjoyed the view most of the day. The only drawback would have been being on the public beach. We drove on the side we would have stayed had we not been upgraded. There were vehicles that appeared to have people living in them right up against the property fence. We may have had a different review had we stayed on that side of the property. It's very unfortunate for the resort as they may not have any control over it. Should we stay there again, we will have to be willing to spend the extra money to stay on the private beach side or hope to be upgraded again. :)

Very nice
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly hotel was very very clean!
- 5/5
Beautiful in every way
- 5/5
The room was great and the place is so relaxing. I wish the food was a little better for the price but will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Loved the resort and its location but the room wasn’t that clean and I had to request a broom to sweep off our patio. Besides that it was great and the people that worked there were warm and welcoming.
- 4/5
Location was good!
- 5/5
Location was perfect!
- 5/5
Super happy with my day. I will be coming back. The stuff was excellent as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
- 5/5
Martin, Christopher and staff were amazing. Great stay in a great location. Would definitely go back.
- 1/5
We are huge believers in communicating directly with management rather than publicly. Have reached out three times with no response. Bottom line; We loved the front desk and check in experience and were fascinated by the bugs- both cockroach and silverfish - in our room. Silverfish is not a big deal. Cockroach more so. Maybe the most surprising thing is management not replying to our surfacing it to them, with video.
- 5/5
Great experience. We would return.
- 5/5
Room is very clean and comfortable. The staff at check in were very nice and helpful
- 5/5
Check in process was great. Staff was kind and accommodating. Studio room was very nice with a beautiful view of the bay. The only downfall was we attempted to dine at Dockside and never was greeted by a server so we left after about 10 minutes. Menu was limited as well. Other than this dining experience we highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
We had a great, relaxing time!
- 5/5
- 5/5
Great location, pet friendly, spacious room to accommodate my family of 6 plus our Dog Baby. We enjoyed the private beach and heated pool. Celebrated my daughter’s birthday with this hotel stay and would definitely recommend to others. We can’t wait to plan another stay at Bahia Resort!
- 5/5
Everything was great.
- 5/5
Awesome staff, Andre at the front desk was on top of his game. When he found out, it was our anniversary he provided a credit to be used on my dinner at the hotel. Our room was awesome overlooking the bay harbor. I definitely will return there for my next San Diego visit.
- 5/5
It was a great room with a great view! Everyone on staff was very kind and helpful
- 5/5
Nice view from the hotel room!
- 3/5
$50 resort fee but nothing but a pool and hot tub. Not worth paying additional $110 for two night's!!!
- 4/5
Great view, clean room, would definitely stay again
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Great, fun staff! Enjoyed the pool, bar, and Halloween cruise. Only negative was the smoke alarm low battery started alerting at 6:30AM. They came very quickly and changed it out. I got back to sleep within 15 mins.
- 2/5
It was not what I was looking for.

- 4/5
Room was clean but definitely needed more lighting in the room, very dark with only 1floor lamp & 2smaller wall lites by nightstands. We had garden view & in order to get adequate lighting had to open the drapes during the day. It would help to have a sheer curtain & keep some privacy from walkway with drapes drawn.
- 2/5
I reserved Bayfront and was given limited bay view from across the street....not what i had reserved.....very DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
- 5/5
Wonderful, as always!
- 5/5
Helpful and professional staff at all levels!
- 4/5
If the rooms were updated this would easily have been 5 stars
- 5/5
Loved this hotel that sits right on the water! Staff was friendly and accommodating, easy parking in front of your room, good restaurants, and located in a lovely area of Mission Beach!
- 5/5
We enjoyed the ambiance of our suite, especially the more private than most lanai. We looked over the boats in the marina, shore birds flying over, & the sky colors with sunrise and sunset. We were happy to hear the roar of the ocean waves from sitting outside as well, and the walk over the ocean walkway was only several blocks. We especially enjoyed our Dockside breakfast. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Every staff person we had interaction with were very welcoming. We would love to return.
- 4/5
Check in was quick and easy. We enjoyed our room and the pool area.
- 5/5
The staff were incredible, our family will definitely stay at The Bahia again!
- 5/5
Beautiful Beach front hotel, clean and wonderful staff! We definitely come back !
- 3/5
rooms need modernization. You do not have enough outlets to charge two peoples electronic devices. The bathroom had a large chip in the toilet tank cover. the floor was filled with hair from previous stays. its very dim in the bathroom. theres no vent to take steam out of the bathroom.
- 5/5
Perfect
- 1/5
Staff was awesome. The rooms had issues with cockroaches. The resort said they were water bugs.
- 1/5
Our bathroom toilet paper did not have a holder. It was just sitting on the counter. When I told the staff they said they’d send someone up to fix it, I waited no one arrived. It never got fixed. If you are looking to book this hotel, this is the kind of customer service you will receive. Cleanliness: Our room was in the tower across from the front desk. The interior of the building looked like it had not been cleaned or maintained since it was built. It was in poor condition, the dust was so thick on the plants, mirrors and staircase. Overall it was very disappointing and overpriced. The only good thing about our stay was the beach access and chairs.
- 3/5
Room was not as Clean as i would have expected, I had to ask for a clean fan for the room as the bed rooms don’t have AC they only have standing fan.
- 5/5
Hotel is great. A lot to do and see. Beach access is great. Beautiful view. Family friendly. Our room was directly in front of playground, which my kids loved! And I loved too because I could watch them from my room. My only complaint is that room did not have a microwave. Which with kids, is not great. But we made it work. And overall, we still loved the resort and enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be returning.
- 2/5
Room was old worn carpet with damp smell. Hair left in shower from prior guest(s). Cheap k-cup coffee off-brand with only 2 paper cups and 2 incomplete coffee kits. Sliding door locked with large air gaps between doors. Small fridge was noisy. Loud music either from park outside door or wedding at venue was unclear
- 3/5
The room was very dated and the floors were very dirty.
- 5/5
The staff was super friendly, and they upgraded my daughter and I into an amazing suite. The pool and hot tub are awesome with poolside food you can order, the beach is right there and does have a secluded section. The breakfast restaurant was delicious as well. Would definitely come again.
- 2/5
There were cockroaches everywhere!! on the floors and some flying!! This can simply be addressed by spraying the property against insects. The water at every pool was hot! Clearly no circulation of water was happening. Would not go back.
- 2/5
House keeping didn’t come to clean our room until the last day of our stay. Asked for clean towels, and they threw them in our bathroom without taking the old ones out or emptying the trash. Door handle on our door was broken; asked for it to be fixed. Upon coming back to our room, our door handle was fixed, but our door was left cracked open, allowing anyone to come in to our room where all of our belongings were.
- 5/5
Our annual mission beach / bay trip this is our spot . Amazing food options . Room has everything you need . Walk outside and your on the bay . This is our secret spot and reminds us of Hawaii . My kids love the summer family movie night they offer at the pool . They love that we don’t have to walk far to the beach we just stay at the hotel on the bay .
- 3/5
Does not live up to their website! Nice beach but v noisy (next to a public car park & beach with car alarms going off & delivery vans reversing) & they target weddings (they’ll literally move you off the beach for a wedding) & rude / insulting reception staff. It’s unkept with stained cushions. San Diego is lovely but we recommend Dana Resort! We filled in a hotel survey almost 2 months ago & no one has bothered to respond. If you stay here, bring ear plugs & bug spray. We chose this hotel for a 3 day anniversary break. Don’t be fooled by the website, it’s nothing like that.
- 5/5
Staff was so friendly! Our room was a little far from the beach area but other than that we enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
Charming hotel for a quiet getaway
- 5/5
Good choice
- 5/5
Loved the bay view room and the space of the room. Was very clean and the private beach was a plus! Great service and friendly staff. Kid friendly resort, great for families.
- 4/5
Better to be on the other side !!!!
- 3/5
If you need ice you need to leave the building walk across to the lobby area and get ice next to the lobby. They do have a couple restaurants on site and they are next to the bay so you have a nice senic walk.
- 4/5
Place was nice. I would say that the resort could use some tender loving care. Very outdated rooms. Everything could be made over. Over all good experience.
- 5/5
The harbor seals were amazing, and my daughter loved them! And the restaurants on site were very tasty! Their gluten free pizza was one of the best I've ever had.
- 4/5
But our stay is so great because we will definitely go back again.
- 5/5
Loved the staff, they were so kind. Lots of family activities everyday. Can't wait to go again!
- 4/5
PROS: good location, quiet during the weekday, friendly staff, great pool, comfortable spacious room, easy parking CONS: very LOUD on Friday and Saturday due to weddings. We specifically called and asked for a quiet room and which one we should book- they told us the garden rooms would be quietest. Well… those overlook the wedding reception area, aka extremely loud music til 10pm. Rooms are a bit outdated. The AC kicks on and off which is annoying at night. The suites do not include any silverware, dishes, or anything that you would want in a kitchenette. I would consider staying again, but not on a Friday or Saturday night. Lots of parties in the rooms, wedding vibes, not the quiet family friendly vibe.
- 2/5
The view is great but the rooms are outdated
- 5/5
Great location and staff were wonderful. Service at dockside was a true highlight. Our kids even commented that the staff were so kind. The only let down was the dampness / humidity in the room. We left and most of our belongings were wet.
- 4/5
Nice view and relaxing
- 3/5
The pools towel policy is strange as you have to identify your room to get one from the dispenser but the return is just a mass bin but they say if you don’t return then you’ll be charged. Not sure how they verify you did or did not return over someone else. Probably won’t return.
- 4/5
Loved the our room that was on the bay. Nothing so great about the room itself (2 star), but the 5 star location and view did it for us. The restaurant itself it good, with their happy hour offerings. The pool was packed even in September, I guess no longer a slower time?! All in all nice place to stay.
- 5/5
Clean rooms and helpful staff. The facility is beautiful. Worth every cent. Will stay again.
- 3/5
The Bad: Drinks were very weak and excessively expensive. It is extremely loud outside the room with cars and motorcar d people roaring all night long. Shower was very difficult to get goi mg because you have to pull with all your strength to get the knob up to make it go in the shower pressure was very week.
- 5/5
It was beautiful time! Excellent!!!!
- 4/5
It’s a great family place to stay, most because of the Bay Area, but the resort fee should be excluded since it’s so outdated and the surrounding areas are poorly kept up by the city. I went for a walk early morning and the streets and parks were filthy not to mention all the homeless there. In the room, the fan did not work and they didn’t have extras so it was really uncomfortable sleeping.
- 5/5
Beautiful flowers. Clean, great beds!!!
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice from the front desk to all of the restaurants. We had an amazing time. We will be back and I will let everyone know what a great place it is to stay!
- 1/5
Sadly, The resort was very old and rundown, dirty carpet everywhere, outside and inside. We paid extra for a Bayview, but there was a big tree outside of our window completely covering the view. We couldn’t even see the water. A worker came the day We were checking out to bring the new pillows and told us to put them in our bed in our dirty sheets to be ready for the next customer.! I told him we weren’t checking out for an hour, but he made me take the pillows and took my old ones while we were busy trying to check out. He said someone would come later to change the sheets. Gross. The tiny fridge was leaking a brown liquid all underneath it and onto the floor the morning we left. there was a whole bunch of kitchen space but no dishes at all no dish soap no tea, towels or dish cloths. The resort beach was not as nice as expected and neither was the water there. We left and went to other beaches to go swimming. There was no air conditioning in the bedroom or bathroom and it was suffocating hot trying to sleep. They provided a fan in the room before we arrive because they already know that this is a problem! The air-conditioning unit was really noisy. The pullout was really uncomfortable. Every night we returned Someone had taken our parking spot. We were extremely disappointed in our stay. We couldn’t wait to get out of there.
- 3/5
It’s a nice place only downfall is the rules of the jacuzzi was not restricted, there were a bunch of kids In there. Also, why chart for return towels in the kiosk when they charge for resort fees. Anyhow just wished there was a free continental breakfast, that be nice. Overall it is a nice place.
- 4/5
Very dated…. Towels were very old
- 3/5
This place is very family friendly. The room were clean and spacious. The pool did get crowded with crying toddlers, but the beach was amazing and not crowded at all. I only gave it 3 stars because I was charged $20 3 days after I checked out. When I called to find out why, they said a pool towel was left in my room-which it was not-I made sure of it! They said they would reverse the charge but it’s been 2 weeks and they still have not done it. I think this is a way to make extra money.

- 5/5
Love this property. You will feel like you’re in Hawaii. Beautiful grounds. Great location to water sports, nightlife everything in walking distance. A special shout out to Benjamin at the front desk. So helpful and accommodating. Great staff!
- 5/5
Areived a little after 4 and was seen immediately and was provided with the room i was so joping to get. Clean and easy to get to the bay right from the back yard from our suite. Amazing place. We'll definately be back.
- 3/5
Our room was not nice at all very dark and there were cockroaches in bathroom . Love the grounds but not the room
- 5/5
I absolutely loved this resort! The staff was super friendly and helpful! I didn’t get a chance to explore all of their amenities but from what I could see, they were really nice. My only two complaints are the ice machine and the shower. The ice machine is outside near the lobby so it was a mission to get ice. The shower was a standard shower head with low pressure. I would have loved if it was a detachable shower head with a handle. I have super long and thick hair so it takes awhile to rinse out normally at home so with the low water pressure it took way too long. But, the views of the bay were amazing and I loved being right on the water. My friends and I are already wanting to plan another trip!
- 5/5
The property, staff, and stay was excellent.
- 5/5
Excellent resort. Did a staycation that felt like a vacation. Grounds are gorgeous and the rooms were lovely. Highly recommend.
- 4/5
Staff was very accommodating. Restaurant's at resort were alright. Good location
- 5/5
It is a wonderful and safe place for families. We loved the pool and the convenient location, as we could walk to the beach. The staff was very accommodating. I hope to return someday. Highly recommended for families.
- 4/5
The only bad thing was the mosquitos that were in the room when we arrived. We were able to switch rooms.
- 5/5
we got a complementary upgrade for our weeks stay and where so happy with everything at this property! sean was awesome and the whole staff was great thanks so much
- 5/5
Everything was great! They even did a cookie platter for my daughters birthday! Such a beautiful place we would definitely stay there again!
- 4/5
The hotel rooms and grounds were well designed and at one time looked like top quality accommodations. The edges are now a little worn and some things a little out dated. That being said, the beach area, pool and staff were amazing and the pride was great. I’d come back for sure. It’s situated close to everything you’d need for a long weekend with the family.
- 3/5
Location excellent. Carpet so dirty left stains on socks and bare feet. Only one ice machine in whole facility
- 5/5
Every staff member we came in contact with was warm and friendly towards us. They offered helpful information with a smile on their face. We felt very welcome here. The private beach was amazing. Even though it was a very busy weekend we were not overlooked.
- 5/5
Perfect..!!
- 5/5
The property is older, but well kept. It is a beautiful resort setting with palm trees everywhere and a private beach (on the bayside). Staff was incredible and it’s a block from mission beach. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant was also good. There is also a new restaurant that we didn’t get to try, but it has pizza. We will try it next year when we return. Thanks Bahia staff. You were great
- 3/5
Nice big rooms and free lobby water options. Pool was average motel style and hot tub just ok. Staff was not knowledgeable about the area and the walk to beach would be a lot with kids and would have to cross highway. Breakfast not included but tasty/expensive food truck on site. Nice bay with artificial sand beach and seating and ambiance. Decent for the price.
- 5/5
Love the fireworks from SeaWorld every night at 9
- 5/5
Excellent checkin perfect room
- 5/5
We personally loved it and found it extremely family friendly. The literal only thing that I think would have made it better would be working water stations to wash our feet off after going to the bay. We felt bad tracking sand all over the place.
- 5/5
My family and I loved the proximity to the beach and Belmont Park. The grounds were very well cared for. Food at the restaurants on site were very good. We appreciated the bar on the beach the best!
- 4/5
had a staycation with my niece that came into town. Showed her around the sites. The hotel was nice, but a bit dated in the suite. It was still very comfortable. The only complaint I have is the Wi-Fi was not working well.
- 5/5
.
- 4/5
The resort was nice. Clean and had a tropical vibe. very loud motorcycles constantly going by. High priced onsite restaurants( 26 dollar breakfast sandwich ). Lot's of good options close by. Nice view from clean comfortable room. Was able to check in early at 2 pm. 4 pm regular check in.
- 3/5
Paid for a 2-Queen Bay View Suite. Room had zero view of the Bay because the landscaping is so over grown. Property is very old - rooms are very old and outdated - air conditioning in main living room blasts from an old unit and bedroom has zero a/c. Asked for an hour later checkout to accommodate our late flight and they would not accommodate. Would not stay here again for the $.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, lots to do within walking distance. Great restaurants
- 3/5
Cool place. Room was okay. Kinda dirty, visual stains all over carpet and couches. Kinda funky smell. Cool area nonetheless
- 3/5
Overall it’s a beautiful place but the building is old, the mattress is okay, the AC is old and makes so much noise it was hard to sleep. The pool is not that big and full of kids. I would not recommend for a couples get away. I think it was too much money for what I got.
- 5/5
It was a great experience. The rooms are nice and clean. Delicious Italian restaurant, highly recommended.
- 5/5
Beautiful location. Great pool and hot tub. Staff was very friendly and helpful. One bed was creaky and worn out. Room smelled faintly of pets although I did not reserve a 'pet friendly' room. All in all a good location and resort.
- 4/5
All good.
- 3/5
I feel like they gave us the worst room in the resort. It was very crowed. We asked to speak to a manager so that we might possibly switch rooms. No one ever called us. Housekeeping completely skipped us the first day and the second day, it was 4 pm before they came, and only after we called. The tvs aren’t smart, so you can’t watch a movie. It was a very different experience than we had last time.
- 5/5
We had a great time visiting to celebrate our 31 year anniversary! The grand kids came by and loved the beach. We were also able to walk to Belmont Park and Mission beach. We will definitely stay again!
- 2/5
I have been coming to property for decades. Came for the Bahia belle. Was closed do to maintenance. Was given a room on public side of beach. Was very noisy from public. And ice cream truck. We all woke up at 8:00 am to more loud music on beach. Room was clean but had smell of sewage in bathroom . I think because pipes are old. I recommend if you do come to request room on private side.
- 5/5
We loved it was pet friendly and walkable to all local beaches and restaurants.
- 5/5
I liked the landscaping, the bay beach and the easy access to the ocean.
- 5/5
Booked 2 rooms for 1 night 4th floor, bay view, spacious, clean, comfortable beds, with ref and kitchen facilities, safe and walkable to the public mission bay beach, used the swimming pool and fitness gym., private beach area. Front desk friendly.
- 4/5
great staff and property but don’t expect to see exactly as the pictures
- 4/5
Beautiful property, walkable to shopping food and the ocean. Booked a suite, we had no dishes or paper towels. The restaurant was overpriced for the food.
- 5/5
Very convenient, unique property, and relaxing atmosphere.
- 3/5
I'm sorry but the property was old for me. The brochure was prettier than the property. It was a nice touch having the sea lions on the premises. I will not be returning to this hotel. The room was spacious though, however it was dirty. When we arrived we found food under the couch, a balloon remnant under the ac unit, the cleaning lady did not sweep and left us with dirty sheets.
- 4/5
Perhaps their could have been more options for eating.
- 3/5
Its a basic hotel- not a resort vibes. Pool gets crowded.
- 3/5
Way overpriced, had to pay 2 different gratuities at the restaurant over $200 added to my bill
- 4/5
Good service
- 5/5
We spent 4 days without needing a car, walking distance to great food and entertainment including SeaWorld. Staff was so helpful and kind.
- 5/5
The room was clean, property well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. We liked that there were cabanas, chairs and umbrellas available for guests at the beach. Two restaurant options, a cafe and a bar at the beach and at the pool for drinks and food. As well as towels for the pool. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful property
- 5/5
Such a fun family friendly place!
- 4/5
Very convenient, not a lot of breakfast options- Dockside very overpriced. Hotel is nice and well kept- however it can be loud with motorcycles between 10-11 pm leaving the amusement park and beach. Don’t waste your time if you want to swim at Coronado beach (sewage from Mexico) go to Mission beach
- 5/5
It's fantastic 👏 thank you 😊
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
All
- 5/5
This is a great place... You can stay on the resort and have plenty of activities to do and services available or your just a short walk to shopping, dining and entertainment. Service was amazing.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay! The room was amazing and clean, the restaurants were really great, and the breakfast coffee shop was awesome! The staff was so friendly! Great place!!
- 5/5
They had their own beach area with their own small cabanas for the guests
- 5/5
I like the fact that your backyard is Mission Bay so you can walk over to the water. Also, the firework display from SeaWorld was great from your porch or from the bay
- 5/5
The location of this hotel is wonderful! Located with easy access to the Bay Area and the oceanfront boardwalk. Beautiful area and location. Highly recommend. Also offers free parking for guests.
- 5/5
Excellent for families! The pool and hotel’s private beach in the bay were fantastic. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Their food was great. The rooms were a little dated inside. 5 minute walk to Mission Beach and the boardwalk.
- 5/5
We are local who decided to do a staycation. Love this spot! Thanks
- 3/5
To my surprise the only time my room was attended to during my 5 day stay was when I contacted the front desk to request that the trash be thrown out on the 2nd and 3rd day of my stay. I was told during check in that the room would be thoroughly cleaned and linens would be changed on the third night which did not happen. The trash was thrown and fresh towels were brought to our room only because we requested it to be done. Room service took an hour to deliver food to the room after ordering. They did not have any diet soda.
- 5/5
Very good customer service especially the housekeeping crew.
- 4/5
Perfect for rest and family friendly
- 5/5
The grounds are Beautiful and even the Gardners are so friendly The restaurant staff is excellent and the food very good.., Infact for our stay we never left the grounds of the hotel. Room was so great .. All in all made my stay for my birthday a great Perfect experience
- 5/5
Great resort with good facilities
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay, we’ll be back.
- 2/5
We were placed in a room that reeked of smoke (174). We asked to be moved and were relocated to a much better room (118) and it had a private beach directly outside of our room. We asked for more towels and unfortunately a huge huge huge cockroach came out of the towels which I had placed in the bed. It crawled behind the bed and the staff showed up after a few calls. They did not locate it so we had to. I’ve room for a third time in 2 days. Very unsettling and disturbing. Almost ruined our whole trip. Still very uneasy!!!!
- 5/5
Luxury
- 4/5
The property boasts an exceptional geographical location, with immediate access to the beach. However, the room decor appears somewhat dated, and the sofa bed offers suboptimal comfort. Nonetheless, the service provided is truly commendable.
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
Amazing beautiful and more
- 5/5
Very peaceful.
