Near railroad tracks, and big dumpsters, resulting in big noises, which were especially disruptive in the early morning.

I would not stay here. The towels and sheets were not clean. I could not get my room changed because no one was answering at the front desk. Even for a budget motel this bad.

Good enough for an affordable stay. Midway between SFO airport and Palo Alto where Stanford U located. Very convenient with lots of shops around such as Trader Joe. I will stay there again.

It's a small place and the furniture looked a little dated. But it was quite and next to some nice shopping areas.

I tried setting up my laptop in the room. There was no power outlet next to the small table that was squeezed between the AC unit and the bed. I needed to work, so I began rearranging the furniture in the room to get access to the outlet. This is where it got bad… I moved the bed and under it there was a large amount of yellow powder strewn on the carpet. Insecticide/repellent? I went to the front desk and showed her a picture of the powder that was strewn under the bed and told her I was concerned about this powder, and this room condition was unacceptable. She said “oh that’s just to deal with the bugs.” (*Stunned they admitted it casually). I was right about what it was! What if someone’s kids stay in the room and are on the floor getting exposed to it?? I told the staff that I needed a room change or I would be canceling my reservation with Expedia immediately and filing a complaint. They gave me a bigger room. (*Wish I did) New room had: - no shampoo or conditioner - paper bath mats - <12” of clearance between bathroom door and bed - burns on comforters - fridge door didn’t close -dirty towels were consistently stacked outside my door on a chair

What really upset me though is that she told me explicitly to call Hotels.con and she will refund it bc they hadn’t charged me yet. I do so, she told th she wouldn’t, and the. Ghosted me on follow up calls. This was all outside in the rain at 8am. These people are awful, take the off your site:

the inn is not a chain and is staff is always friendly . i support local business . I am happy for on site parking near rooms . Glad rooms are street level and no need for stairs/elevator . local motel in downtown dining shopping san carlos area . Am lucky dec 6 last minute reservation . I sheltered here , my job nearby .the inn is small , fits right in the downtown plan ? Bed and pillows above average for me .so is the mini fridge-microwave / heater-ac / cable ,too.

They are always nice and accommodating, and you get what you pay for. It is not extravagant, it may or may not be to your liking as it is not new or newly decorated.

I’ll be honest, it is not the greatest place to stay. The staff is super nice, the location for me is super convenient, but other than that if you aren’t getting it for $65/70 a night… I’m not sure you would agree with the value. Again, staff is super nice and pleasant, I just wish it was a little nicer.

The room was filthy. The microwave had food splatters, and fridge door had food gunk. Did not microwave after seeing the condition. One towel’s corner was literally shredded with worn. I had to put towels on carpet floor to walk around. Carpet felt so cringe. Only space I was comfortable to touch was bed. Left without even the shower as the whole room felt so dirty, dusty and musty. Probably the worst ever motel I have stayed. Couldn’t give any lower than 1 star

This place needs a lot of work, the staff are friendly place is nice on the outside, but this place needs an upgrade. And a deep clean. As soon as I opened the door the room had a damp feeling, and I instantly knew bugs. Moved the microwave a layer of dust not a big deal but showed the cleaning effort of the place, moved on to the refrigerator and under it as infestation of cockroachs. That too not a big deal but if i was going to stay three nights I would need to treat the room. Went to home depot got some bug treatment and cleaning spray and a tarp to sleep on. Cleaned everything doors bathroom, and table scrubed every nook sprayed should have got a discount for the amount of work i did, but whatever, after the deep clean I felt comfortable enough to sleep and had a very pleasant stay.

It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Except for the bed, everything else is dirty and old. The towels are almost worn out and no longer white. Don't walk on barefoot and avoid touching anything.

The property is very outdated and not clean. The toilet was fthy, the towels were stained and I moved the nightstand looking for an outlwt and there was garbage and papers there indicating no one has moved or vacuumed there in quite some time. The sheets seemed fine, but the bedspread did not seem clean at all. I think they need to do an overhaul and invest a little money in some necessities. I

There should Always be two bed sheets to sleep in between them for sanitary reasons. There was only one sheet on both beds. I had to remove sheet from one bed, so I would have two sheets to sleep in between. Room had a funny smell. I won’t ever be returning.

I wouldn't stay here again. The door lock opened by a key and the lock seemed loose. The furnishings were dated and worn but the worst of all was the bathroom sink faucet which barely trickled water. When I tried to brush my teeth, I had to take a plastic cup filled with water from the the bath tub faucet to rinse my mouth.

Seen this place plenty of times never stayed, but the price point was great at like 60$ for a single night at my halfway point of a 2 day drive. From the outside looks good. I am only reviewing room 4 the one I stayed in I can’t speak on the others but it has no key card it’s old school locks which is charming, opening the door I was hit in the face with the smell of a sour turd. I almost left but but I needed rest. The lady at the front was sweet and charged no deposit only my card number for incidentals, there are none in this room tho. It had 2 beds and they were made up but looked less than average. Dark and dingy the walls were peeling and crumbling the tv has comcast Xfinity, microwave and fridge, big bathroom hot HOT! Water. The curtains had seen better days and matched the outdated comforter.. it seemed like a good room to hold up in for a couple days with a bag of party favors and a pro but that wasnt my intention this time lol this room lacked but where it lacks I see opportunity. Although the heater didn’t work there was a space heater in the room. It’s not hsrd to fix so I did it just needed he condenser cleaned off and the thermometer sensor thing cleaned snd reseated and it got luke warm. The thing about this room.. new beds, hvac, curtains, re stain the furniture and interior restoration re: paint repair walls/ceiling, this would be a hidden diamond and for what it could be, I’ve stayed in similar rooms on the coast for upwards of $1000 a night. Reaction SCI!

The property was very unkept with dirty towels hanging on the balcony assuming from a roofing issue.

Great location right off of Laurel St. Very convenient location. within walking distance of well, : everything, Lucky California grocery store, Shell gas station, Jack in the Box and of course all the great botiques and stores up and down Laurel St, including USPS. It's a small but cozy no frills hotel but our room did have brand new carpet, a little refrigerator and a microwave, which was nice to have a cold drink close by and some way to heat up our left overs. The staff here was very friendly which is always a good thing when your in a new location. Long story short, considering the great location and low rates the hotel was perfect and honestly, you can't ask for anthing more.

It’s a cheap place to stay. Overal a good experience. The AC worked well and the bed was comfy. The neighborhood surrounding seemed safe and quiet, but the bathroom was dirty and had a leaky sink. Around the shower was dirt and hair, and hair inside the tub. One of the sheets was stained as well.

No fancy ..economical for me. Mini fridge adequate for frozen pancakes and tv dinners ...uno.. Freezer portion always small. Fridge kept fridge stuff cold , no complaints. Cable lots channels.window heater went down....portable heating waiting my arrival and just as toasty. Hot water YES! The regulars who stay here ...peaceful , happy ,too ? Why not.

The person who checked me in was quite friendly, gentle, and graceful. I genuinely appreciated the clean, warm room on a cold night with temperatures approaching below freezing. I shall visit, again, in the near future, San Carlos Inn.

The bed was firm for good back support and soft enough that when I relaxed I could feel the tiredness of the day drain into the bed. The carpet should have been replaced 10 years ago it was below the quality of the rest of the room. I entered the room around 3:30 turned the a/c and it cooled down within 1/2 hour. Since my truck is my life while traveling, I am concerned about security. I was parked within10 steps of my door and did not hear much after turning the TV off. Overall very good experience.

Terrible motel in all senses. Smelly and dirty carpets, dirty and broken air conditioning, depressing colors, old bed linen, terrible lights in the room, old everything. My bed had only one sheet and when I complained the front desk person lazily gave me one…. And I said “you want me to put in on”?!?! After a while she got another lazy person to her who simply put my pillow on the floor!!!! I decided to sleep as fast as I could and hit the road in the early morning without even showering… who know what I would find there!

When I first checked into the motel I thought it was going to be a wonderful experience but I can quickly see owners were nosy pushy and all about money it's easier for two days and when we went to extend the room the second team the lady told us they had somebody going to be checking into a room at 1 the room was completely empty they gave us 45 minutes to pack up and we had a lot of stuff in there we've been homeless and we are pretty much everything and making threats to us that they were going to call the cops and all kinds of stuff when they literally gave us 45 minutes to pack up and leave the owners had a room right next to ours where they were constantly listening to me and my boyfriend having sex our conversations there is even a little hole in the upper corner where they can see into a room from upstairs it was a horrible experience these people need to get a life they're perverts sick people

It was pretty dirty. The carpet was sticky and the room smelled like cigarettes. There was a piece of paper on the bathroom foor saying "bath mat". We did notfind that useful. We arrived really late but a woman did answer to give the room key, though not talkative at all.

I've stayed here a few times over the last month. The staff is friendly, courteous and accommodating. I travel to San Mateo two days per week and I plan to stay here once or twice weekly if a room is available.

If you are a person of color DO NOT! I repeat. DO NOT spend ypu $ at tgis establishment. Im a Aftican American. I applied online. The owner is Indian. At first there were NO room available. Bit i already paid. As soon as I walked in she was rude. I felt my business wasn't "welcome" there. Thebn she had me watched my staff & law enforcement. I swear this happened. Its WAY NOTE THAN THAT. But I wont bring it up. I went to another place and was treated like a human paying customer. Like everyone else who IS paying for a room. This hotel bevause of the RACISM that goes on here i give San Carlos Inn a 0-10. And im not done with them yet. Trust me. Good day.

We drove to San Carlos to visit our children and grandchildren. We needed a place to sleep, shower, and read before bedtime. The Inn is simple, clean, and has a comfortable bed, a microwave (evening tea!) and fridge (morning juice.) We needed nothing more. We felt it was well cleaned before our arrival. I called at the last minute to see if we could cone a day earlier, increasing our stay to four nights, and there was no problem. We will stay here again. N/A

Booked a single person stay was assigned to a double bed queen room. Was told only to sleep in one bed otherwise I’d be charged an additional $50. Wow this place is a dive. Save your money. Was afraid to stay there, the Health Department needs to do a inspection (definitely wouldn’t pass). Tub not clean could see human skin, various hairs inside and on walls. Asked for another room informed I’d be charged additional $10.00 for upgraded to a king bed. Tried to pay with credit and a debit card was told to go to a bank and get cash. ???? Really! Then it only got worse... I just couldn’t stay, I went looking for Jesus, Joseph and Mary the barn was definitely a better choice!

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room had 2 beds and I was instructed that if we used the 2nd bed it would be additional charge. That’s not sanitary especially in COVID to keep the same bedding guest after guest. We were told that we got 3 complaints which I didn’t understand due to us going to bed at 11pm. Call after call telling us to check out before even the check out time. Room was dirty. I lysoled it and even found suitcases and clothes left by previous guests. We had a half roll of toilet paper for 2 days and even though I try to be positive these are the facts of my stay. 5/10. That’s being generous

This is a classic motel perfectly run by caring folks. It is just 10 rooms of convenience and perfect for a business mission or to use as an extra guest room. My family and friends have rediscovered the simplicity of motels when easy access to your car, and fast in and out are part of the draw.

The room did not have a working heater and it was cold. The bathroom had a paper bathmat and the towels were very small and thin. The rug was dark and had holes where it had been burned. It was billed a 3star place but only deserved 1/2 star.

Who rated this as 3 stars. The soap was as thin as a cracker. There was not shampoo n conditioner. Had to ask for extra soap. The bath mat was a thin paper. The room was cluttered and smelly. Disgusting.

The room was very dark, it can use more light. They can provide better linens. It is definitely due for an upgrade. However, if they did upgrade, then their price would match the rest of the area.
