I would not recommend stay here. Not even if you are an employee of the local hospital and need somewhere to stay for one night.

There was supposed to be a hot tub and pool, as advertised l. Was filled in with dirt. No coffee or water

No outside lights in parking lot. Room had foul odor and bedside light wasn't working (switched bulbs and that wasn't the issue). Attendant was friendly and building undergoing reconstruction was understandable for condition of hallways where work was taking place. We left before breakfast hours.

This was by far the WORST hotel stay. I had two rooms and one smelt so strong of fresh paint my son who has asthma ended up having to go into the doctors the next day. The other room ac unit did not work and when I went to tell the receptionist she had her headphones on watching videos. I had to reach over-the-counter and put my hand in front of the computer screen to get her attention. After she switched my room, it was no better. The AC unit did not work in that one either and there was absolutely no sleeping in as the working cruise to the rooms next to mine we're working bright and early at 8 AM with music blaring.

The location The hotel we booked have been under renovations the whole stay. We were never informed of this until we checked into our hotel room when we got here. We’ve had trouble sleeping in the morning due to sounds of power tools etc. Being used very early in the mornings. We are also the room closest to the work they are doing and have dealt with all the smells and debris from the renovation and I’m appalled. We never knew they were under renovations or else we would have booked somewhere else. I can’t even let my toddler walk outside of our door without him stepping into all the debris and asbestos..I’m very disappointed..also the cleaners didn’t even come to take our trash until my mom had to go track down the lady on second shift and ask. She also informed the front desk. We checked in Saturday and our room never was cleaned or maintenance until Wednesday.

The suite was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The barhroom was clean, but had a dated tub and shower. I suspect there was some black mould in the ceiling above the shower head. A dose of Chlorox might do wonders.

Never any staff at the desk when needed. Almost every day I had a problem I waited 30-60 mins for a staff member after working on my feet all day.

The lady at check in was very pleasant and friendly. She also helped us out as to where there is somewhere close by to eat. The shower was nice. The tiny pillows. The staff was very friendly. Check in was a breeze. Location is nice. The bed was hard as a brick. The paint was peeling in the room 321. Every plug on the lamps in the room were not useable to charge devices. Those plugs are slam wore out. The T.V in the room had a horrible picture quality and the cable channels listed on the provided channel guide did not match the actual small amount of channels avaliable. Example it stated HBO was an option, it was not. The ice machine on the 3rd floor didn't work. Also the coffee provided durring breakfast tasted like brown water. Hope these will be addressed by the property owner.

We showed them the confirmation email with the reservation number but they still said they didn't have a reservation even if they confirmed it was the right hotel. They didn't want to help and we had to leave and to reserve another hotel nearby.

Location and staff well front desk was good. The room had dust cobwebs everywhere ceiling all over curtains, paint falling off ceiling in bathroom ,toilet runs none stop. Food was under the bed and table, the toilet paper holder was under sink and floor nasty.

The breakfast is usually really good but I'd like to see bacon there. The beds were so comfy that I slept so hard, my husband and daughter said I snored loud. LOL

THE FRONT DESK EMPLOYEES, BOTH DAYS WERE 10/10 VERY POLITE, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.. The lady working the breakfast buffet was very sweet and helpful also. I only dealt with one housekeeper when I had to get trash bags but she was also very friendly. The staff there are the ONLY reason I gave ANY stars. The entire hotel was dirty, trash all in the hallways, food and crumbs on the couch in the lobby. There was a blood spot on our blanket. Some of our towels and washcloths were also dirty and had to be switched out. When we folded out the pullout sofa there was what looked like broken acorns or some sort of foilage all over it. There were hairs all in the beds and hanging from the blow dryer. We had to buy cleaner and disinfectant spray to clean the entire room. The towel bar in the shower was missing, so it was just two nasty looking open holes in the shower wall. Our kids basketball team stayed on the 3rd floor above us, their rooms were the same... also, when we arrived and the entirety of the stay the entire third floor was a cloud of weed smoke even though all of the rooms are nonsmoking. The view from our window was of their courtyard area where the pool is.... there were probably about fifteen dressers or nightstands and lamps thrown around outside and about 40 mattresses just sitting outside that I assume they were going to bring back in and use when they finished the renovation on the first floor..... I'm sure at that point they will be full of mice and other rodents. Whoever owns this hotel obviously is not concerned with having return guests.

The staff was awesome. Housekeeping has a little to be desired. There was dirt buildup in the corners and dead bugs under things. But other than that it was a great place to stay, including a wonderful breakfast.

Breakfast was very nice--liked having some eggs especially. The breakfast area was nice with plenty of room with a good view too. The location of the hotel is in a good, safe area very near the Lewis-Gale hospital. In summer we think the swimming pool and hot tub area would be very pleasant. We visit this area often and would definitely stay here again.

I like the hospitality of the Front Desk workers. I like how quiet and quaint this location and hotel is in Salem, VA. I did not like having dirty towels left in front of my hotel door. They were there, when I arrived. Housekeeping had left them. I did not like the smell of urine on the sofa.

Staff was kind and professional. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The only issue I had with the room was the sink faucet broke off when I tried to turn on the water. The other major problem was that there was construction going on throughout the building, which made it noisy at times and also made the building smell like chemicals.

The hotel is under a much needed renovation and you could tell. The ice-machine on our 3rd floor room did not work and it hasn’t worked in a while. I’m glad they are renovating it because Tina good hotel that needs renovating!

Very nice accomodation. Very clean, spacious room. Very well appointed breakfast menu. Of special note.....front desk attendant. Michele H. was extremely pleasant to deal with. She really went over and above to welcome us and ensure we were comfortable. Some people are extremely well suited to the service industry, and Michele is one of those persons. Her dedication to her job alone will keep me coming back when I'm in the Roanoke area.

Only thing I can say is the views were beautiful My daughter and I stayed for 1 night which we checked out this morning. I spoke with the front desk representative and let her know what happened this morning around 1:00. A guest was banging on doors yelling and cursing which scared my daughter. When I tried to use my room phone to call front desk phone didn’t work. We didn’t sleep well and my daughter had a bad night after the commotion.

I love getting up in the morning, knowing that there is breakfast ready. The beds are so comfortable. The staff is very friendly. I just love everything about it. This was my second visit but not my last visit.

The sink had valves that were almost turned off so almost no water. The cable in our room got 5 channels. When i asked about the other 35 channels we were supposed to get i was told some rooms are finicky. Not a solution. Mattress was worn out.

I went to the front desk and let them know but they didn't do anything about it,me and my family stayed for 3 days without TV for my kids..

We stayed at this property one night on our way through. Overall it was passable. The beds were comfy and clean, but the room itself needed attention. The front desk staff was attentive, but they seemed to be the only people on the job when we arrived. We slept well. Breakfast was passable, but the breakfast staff was inattentive, and the amount of waste from the breakfast dishes was a bit disturbing. The property seemed very tired, like it was once very nice, but has fallen on hard times and the current owners don't care about it. It's okay for a single night, but it felt like we were overcharged for what we got. We will most likely not stay there again.

Also the bed was super hard and uncomfortable. The manager was a jerk and refused to give us our money back even though we couldn’t get cleaned up. Would NOT recommend

Hotel could use a facelift.

We had a very poor experience with this property. The staff were the only good part. Check in took over 30 minutes, because there was a long line, and only one staff. The room was very poorly maintained. I don't mean dated, that's not a big deal, but broken stuff, stained items, things falling apart. The room was so damp and musty. The bath towels almost felt damp from it. The entire first floor area we were in reeked of marijuana and cigarette smoke. All the way down the hallway and into the rooms. The couch in the room was very dingy. We had planned to use the pullout bed, but we didn't feel comfortable with how dirty it was. There were people noisily arguing in the hallway all night. I would definitely not stay again.

Lot of wear and tear. Stale smelling room. Shower was dirty and the shower ceiling needed rep repair. I will stay elsewhere from now on.

It was clean, hot tub not working, (we picked it for the hot tub). Bathrooms definitely need updating. Ice machine not working coffee maker not working.

My 15 minute experience here was highly disappointing. We checked in and rather quickly checked out upon finding brown splatter stains on the walls in multiple places, dark grimy smudging on the bathroom door, a brown unknown substance in the tub and some mysterious and unwanted substances staining the couch. It was all very uncomfortable and I probably wouldn’t even recommend this to anyone my worst enemies.

Low 2-star…slowest check-in I’ve ever had. Attendant seemed to be on a personal call the entire time. property images depict a clean, warm, inviting property…reality is the property is aging and needs a deep clean and fresh paint. Floor smelled like dive bar. Room smelled like a cheap air-freshener

The facility was overall nice. The pool was enjoyable. Our bathroom was somewhat clean but we almost slipped in the bathtub several times. Room was spacious. Queen bed with pillow top was too soft our backs hurt in the am Room 312z

One night stay wasn’t bad at all. Did catch what I believe to be an employee smoking weed behind the trees. Front desk staff was great. Room was neat and tidy. Pool area is a little dated and hot tub was covered - non operational.

Breakfast was fine. Powdered eggs not what I expected.

Easy and close to the venue

Don’t count on breakfast. Most of the buffet was empty. They don’t have enough food, staff, or space for this hotel. When I complained to the manager, he told me it was complimentary and not something they had to provide. Then he complained that we had a family of 6 in our suite even though that’s what we made a reservation and paid for. When we had arrived the night before after midnight they did not have enough bedding for the six of us. The staff was kind and helped us but the manager was completely unhelpful.

I don’t understand how this property has such good reviews. It was so dirty and smelly. The breakfast area was filthy, the floors were filthy everywhere, old candy wrappers in the room, the bathroom floor was visibly dirty and sticky. The only clean thing I could find was the beds.

At least one morning, we appreciated not having the TV blaring at us during breakfast.

Breakfast was worst I have ever had at a free breakfast hotel and that had to take an effort. Beds were clean and comfortable.

It was okay for a overnight stay. Wish it had updated amenities

This is an out of date and broken down property. Elevator broken and stairs were the only options to get to various floors. Pool not in service and no plans to fix. Hallways smell bad. Rooms out of date, bathrooms not nice at all looks like it’s never been updated. Bed is firm and lumpy. Torn curtains. Staff at front look pretty rough too. Couldn’t wait to check out of this hotel.

The check-in was super easy. The check-in attendant, Quanesha was polite and smiled when greeting us. I've stayed here multiple times and have enjoyed the facility. The pool is 3-5ft, serves it's purpose. My littles enjoyed it.The breakfast is good, I like making my own waffles. It's bed bug free, but did have a few ants this recent visit. It's quiet and the beds are amazing. TV stations a little shotty. Nonetheless, very good hotel for the price. Will return.

This property was terrible. It was dirty, curtains torn, microwave & fridge didn’t work, hottub didn’t work, trash in fridge and trash can upon entering room.

These beds were probably the most comfortable beds that i have slept in, so that is a huge plus. The hotel and rooms were more run down, and had a musty smell. While the room was bot well maintained it was clean. The staff was very friendly.

The breakfast was good, but the buffet ran out of many of the items. Overall, an ok hotel, but it needs a bit more care in order to be more than that.

The staff at this property were wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The property is quiet and safe feeling. The room smelled like weed from the time we got there to the time we left. It never did not smell like it. We didn't complain about it we just dealt with it. The room was clean but just didn't smell clean. The breakfast was okay. They had waffles but no forks to eat them with even when asked. They may have just run out and the waffles tasted a little sour. I would probably stay somewhere else if we ever go back.

Let me start by saying the two young ladies that I encountered at the front desk were very pleasant. The hotel needs some serious updating! There was a moldy smell on the floor that I stayed on when exiting the elevator. The wall was cracked, the curtains were torn with holes in them.

No working hot tub, door, elevator, bugs in room, and wreaked of smoke despite the no smoking signs. Front desk daytine shift was awful as well.

When we first arrived, the room we were given had an awful dog urine small. Thankfully no fuss was made to move us to another room. While the location sufficed for a quick one night stay, there were deficiences in the bathroom - the sink was broken, no towel racks, the toilet was leaking and the seat was broken.

Cleanliness overall was ok, but definitely could be better. Elevator was broken. Ice maker on first floor doesn't work which we found out after we carried the cooler down the stairs. Breakfast was a decent variety but they were out of forks which just seemed like one more disappointment.

We cut our stay short after seeing black mold on the bathroom & bedroom ceilings and mold on a lampshade. Housekeeping did an excellent job cleaning the suite, but they cannot be held responsible for mold. The elevators were out when we arrived. They were waiting for a part. The breakfast was ok but the juice was mostly water and the chairs needed to be reupholstered.

Our room was a little musty and smelled a little Bathroom toilet seat was not properly installed and would fall off.

When i arrived for check in, they said my room wasnt clean, but yet it was. There was a lot of confusion. Then about 9pm i pulled the sofa bed out to make the bed to sleep. There were no sheets for the sofa bed anywhere. So i walked out to the front desk and asked for sheets. They did not arrive to the room with the sheets until 10pm. Earlier, i went to purchase 4 bottles of water. The staff expected cash. I did not have cash, it took them a good 10 minutes to figure out how to charge my card. The elevator was also broken.

I liked that the front desk staff gave me a 1st floor room when I told them that if their elevator was out of order, we could not climb stairs. I did not like how low the toilet was, the ripped curtain, the small size of the refrigerator, and the worn desk chair.

The beds make sleep a dream, the first room they gave us. We couldn’t get the TV on the front desk. Person came to work on it. She FaceTime to her manager and he couldn’t figure it out. There was no phone in the room so they moved us. The elevator was broken. The ice machine on our floor was not operating and the orange juice was mostly water. I will not stay there again.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, but the elevator was broken. The ice machine on the 3rd floor was also broken and the phone in my room did not work. The AC also did not seem to be working in the lobby area, but was in the rooms. Definitely an older hotel that needs some upgrades.

Elevator didn't work. Hot tub didn't work. Rooms need a refresh. Paid extra to have the amenities.

Spacious room. Excellent on site breakfast. Many choices available. Great location.

When we were there in March, we had a nice room. May have been updated. This past weekend was not as satisfactory. The carpets were filthy. My white socks were black after walking on the carpet in our room. Couldn't let water run in bathroom sink. It would fill up and take 30min. to drain. Toilet flushed slow and the TV selections were boring. Elevator not working, pool was not cleaned No lid for ice bucket. For an accessible room, the tub sides were so high it was hard for me to get my leg over the side to take a shower. Have back and leg issues and was inconvenient. Some staff was friendly and some barely spoke to you. Not as impressed this time as we were the last.

The stay was okay for the price

Not very clean, old linen, old and soiled carpeting. Definitely needs improvement.

It's an older property, and it shows. Elevator was broken. Staff was mostly great, though.

I was surprised they didn't have wifi, and the pool wasn't opened.

Sticky carpets

The hotel was apparently being renovated although I saw no evidence of this. The carpets are incredibly old, worn out and stained. The phone in our room did not work, the elevator did not work, and the shower head only had about 3 streams of water coming out. The toilet seat was not stable and the doors and walls were in terrible condition. The photos are not from this hotel. Had I known this place was in such terrible shape I never would have paid to stay there.

The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The staff were courteous and helpful. The free breakfast was okay but not up to the standards of other similar hotels.

The physical building could use some TLC. The elevator was not working and the electrical plugs in the room could be changed out due to when we attempted to plug in our chargers, the outlet was loose and stretched out.

Very outdated and uncleanly. Our towels had yellow and brown stains, it smelled musty and damp in our room, and the couch didn’t look like it had been cleaned in years.
