Bed was too soft, hard on the back for sleeping.

I love the pool was actually heated as stated, the breakfast was amazing and they didn’t cut it off right at 10 and the location was beautiful!! It’s not that I didn’t not like anything. The only thing I would change is to extend the time on the pool. We had long days and would get back late and unfortunately not be able to utilize the pool.

The rooms and lobby were clean and relatively well-maintained. We didn't have the opportunity to use the pool or gym, but we enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the staff did a nice job keeping everything clean and stocked. The hotel was a very short drive from the main road, which has plenty of of restaurants and retail areas. I would stay here again the next time I'm in the area.

Room next to the elevators was horrible due to the fact they were terribly loud and grinding and needed service. Receptionist at night was brutal and rude. Morning staff were all wonderful, helpful and cheerful. Parking spaces were in abundance, breakfast was fresh with excellent healthy food options. Refuse any room that is by the elevator and switch hotels.

However - this is the "big however" - the horizontal rolling/French door to the bathroom in our room was installed improperly without the necessary stops. As I closed the door to the bathroom using the metal door handle, the door kept moving past the door frame, causing bruising and blood on two of my fingers, which were caught in the doorway. If a child or another person of lesser physical awareness or someone simply closing this door with just one finger without expecting a problem were to use this horizontal sliding door, they would either severely bruise, break, or sever a/multiple finger(s). It really is that severe of a problem. We reported this problem to the staff and it is unclear whether it will go up the chain far enough to effectively resolve. Everything else about our stay was very good. Yet, to prevent substantial and potentially life-changing guest injuries (and major hotel liabilities) this hotel needs to fix the doorstops on this room (228) and examine others to be sure that everything is safe. Thankfully I only have two badly bruised, painful fingers. It could have been much worse.

We did call a month ahead to ask about pool they explained it was getting repaired, verified a week before, informed pool was fixed, it was not.

The room had a sliding barn door for the bathroom, which was odd and bulky. The breakfast was amazing! Not a fan of how the tv worked or the channel list. Room was clean and quiet. The mattresses were a bit too soft for bad backs. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Room was not cleaned even every other day they promised. My keys I checked in for 3 days only made for first day. First room they game me had smoke smell. Second was in better condition but chair was missing. Towels was yellowish not super clean looking first bad experience in Hampton inns I’m not usually picky that much. 3 days stay no room cleaning might caused it. I won’t come again to this location I was there for work trip

We stayed here while driving through the area. So glad we picked this place. It is reasonably priced, and worth what we paid. Probably the best breakfast we’ve ever had.

This place is a hidden gem! Just off 81 (literally) it is easy to find. The town of Salem is a 5 min ride away with places to eat. Beds are comfortable and shower is hot. We’ll be staying here again!

The tv didn’t work in the kids room, so they just used their devices. All in all, it was a poor experience and I would never stay there again.

No real issues with property. Area around location confusing to get in and out. Breakfast was filling but a lot of the food was not kept warm enough so a little cold. Staff was friendly at front desk.

We were disappointed in our stay based on the amount we paid for our room. Our toilet was broken, our sheets had dirt in them and had multiple brown stains in them, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the lady that checked us in was rude to us.

The hotel was excellent and I guess you get what you pay for-rates were higher because of college graduation. It was a nice facility- kept clean, modern, friendly staff, good breakfast, quiet, large room and the best restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay again.

What a fantastic hotel, and the staff was superb! This is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. And the heated pool was wonderful after 10 hours on the road. Will absolutely stay in again!

Do not get a king size bed room at this hotel, I was told at checkout that all of these rooms are right on the other side of the wall to the elevators. I checked out at night because the bed in my room shared a wall with the nosiest elevator I’ve ever heard. Unless you have the tv volume on 50 (if you can sleep through that) you won’t be getting any sleep in those rooms. Instead of staying the night that I paid for already, I left because of how loud it was in my room all hours of the night and drove the 3 hours home.

My wife was so disappointed that we ended up here instead of Peaks of Otter campground. It's a nice, sterile, hotel. No particular character. The breakfast was adequate but like the last big, sterile place we stayed. It's right off the highway, so no walking around

The lady who checked us in was super sweet and friendly. Her name was Libby and she gave us ideas of who delivers dinner in the area. Rooms were clean and beds so comfortable. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash pumps in the room were really good quality products. Will stay again.

I was in NOLA in the hospital with my mom who was fighting for her life throwing up blood for 7 hours finally ending up intubated for 5 days and requiring a stomach tube on the day I was supposed to check in. As soon as I realized I had forgotten to cancel, I contacted Expedia and the hotel asking for compassion and a refund. I offered to send the hospital papers or whatever they needed. They refused to refund even one of the two nights. I pray no-one making this decision ever has to go through what I was going through and try to remember something as trivial as canceling a hotel room.

This hotel was wonderful! I’ve been to other Hampton Inns but this is by far one of the best. The hotel itself is very clean, and their gym has a decent amount of equipment to get in a regular workout. The room was very spacious and comfortable and with plenty towels and comfortable bedding. Would definitely stay here again!

Parking lot lights lit up the room. Paper thin walls. Lumpy pillows and center sinking old mattress. Dogs barking. This was not a Hampton Inn in quality.

We like that it is right off 81 and there are so many dining choices.

Staff was friendly and courteous and hotel was clean, but...the hotel is nearly finished with a renovation and there were a number of issues we found with the room. The room is large sized and had two queen beds in it with a lot of room left over. Rather than use that space, it was just left empty. Which wouldn't have been bad if it had some better amenities. The wardrobe closet was small and we couldn't hang a dress or pair of pants in there because it was too short. There were no drawers to put clothes in. The bathroom did not have a vent fan, so it became very steamy when showering. The common breakfast area is not set up for families, almost all of the tables were two-person seating. Because it was Virginia Tech grad weekend, the rates were jacked up nearly 300%. The room cost us $381, and the same room a month later is $138.

I had a dog with me. I did not search down to the cost as my experience has been $20-$25 extra. I was very surprised to be charged $75 extra for my dog. Will not be staying at Hampton Inns with this high charge. Plenty of highly rated hotels that charge much less.

Excellent stay for a night traveling through Salem Va. Free breakfast had excellent selection of items. My only problem was our room was right next to elevator which wasn't a problem until the elevator started dinging at 6 am. It didn't wake up my wife but I'm a light sleeper. So, if you're easily woken try not to get a room next to the elevator.

The hotel is in the process of remodeling, and, as such, lacked some basics in the room. Specifically, in my room the most missing items were window drapes. All that was provided on the room window was a small curtain hanging on a shower rod! Needless to say, that didn't do much to block out the light. However, the breakfast area was fully remodeled and very open and bright. Also, the hot breakfast was very good.

The hotel is at the end of their renovation and the room was not completed. The hotel room did not have proper curtains as they did not cover the entire window. The make shift curtain was held up by a shower curtain rod. The lights from the parking lot at night and sun streamed into the room. In addition to this, the smell of new paint, glue from new carpets was very evident and could irritate those that are sensitive to these odors. They should have shut down the room.

The room had a very musty smell which was not great. I think the carpets could use a good cleaning and maybe the air filters changed. The beds were comfortable and the staff was very nice. Breakfast buffet was fresh.

Hot water was barely warm, room had a funky smell without a/c on. Locked out of our room with a bad key & had to wait for 10 min for one of 2 attendants to wait on us. Was suppose to be in a online meeting making it worse. Seems clean, updated nicely, but the smell is right off the elevator.

Only issue room staff need to monitor shower supplies. Was a late night planed overnight took on only limited items shampoo being left in car to only find the shampoo pump empty. Otherwise wonderful stay.

Very nice location, great staff, lovely breakfast. Some minor critique of the room, 407, that we stayed. The barn door that closes on either the bathroom or the closet was a little diffficult (heavy), and potentially dangerous. I was leaning into the closet to retrive a shirt when my wife came out of the bathroom, pushing the barn door into my space, almost clocking me in the head. Also, the bathroom is missing a towel hanger and the main light switch next to the door is flaky and possibly a fire hazard. That said, we plan to stay here again for our next visit to Salem.

My onky suggestion is to make sure the windows are shut. Ours was ipen and there were stink bugs in our room.

After a bad experience at a Comfort Suites Salem (Wildwood Rd) branch last year, I moved my business here. Both my wife and I were pleased with our stay. While many hotels having decimated their breakfast offerings during covid, we were pleased with Hampton Inn's relatively comprehensive breakfast offerings - a pleasant surprise!

Pleasant stay. The room was clean, comfortable. The rooms could be more disabled client friendly. Higher toilets and more grab bars.

Our room was right above the doorway. Window blocked by awning, parking lot light shining through the whole night. Not enough parking! Every single space was taken.

We were an extremely late check-in due to traffic. We were traveling with our 9 month old. We called to let them know we would not be in until after 1am. The staff had the pack ‘n play all set up in our room so we could bring our little guy right up to the room and put him back to sleep! Thank you so much!

Perfect for our one night stay

I prefer this location as it's close to my Aunt's house and it's usually very quiet, but not this time. I was there for my aunt's funeral and was awakened several times Friday night by surrounding noise (doors slamming, showers running, etc.) The bathroom door in my room was in need of repair as it was very difficult to slide. Following the funeral I received a call from home and had to check out early so I only stayed Friday night.

The service at the front desk and breakfast was great! Everyone was very friendly. The room smelled wet and had some mold on the bathroom ceiling and wall. The breaker room was attached to our room and the light coming through was really annoying when we were trying to sleep.
