Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel. The spacious rooms, particularly the two-bedroom suites, are a highlight. However, some guests express disappointment with the breakfast offerings and the condition of certain rooms, noting the need for updates and maintenance.

- Disappointing breakfast
- Rooms in need of updates and maintenance

Breakfast was OK. There was warm water in the shower. I stayed for three nights and the room was never cleaned. The floor was not vacuumed nor the towels changed. I have to clean the bathroom and toilet by myself. There weren’t toiletries and I have to go and buy soap. I made the front desk aware of the failure to clean my room up the first day and nothing happened. When the second day of the same, the person in the front desk, a young man, though it was funny and laughed at me.

Great weekend at Residence inn Salem, excellent breakfast, spacious room with kitchen where we could make our dinner.

Grocery shopping is a 10 min drive away. Breakfast is included and, well, it's highway hotel standard, dry bagels, yoghurt and scrambled eggs. Staff is friendly, parking is plenty.

The rooms were clean and the bed was super comfy. They did charge for daily parking which was not noted when booking. The are seemed safe, I felt comfortable traveling in and out of the gotel while traveling alone.

Everything was fantastic. The elevator was broken but the front desk clerk offered to bring it all up and did

Although the room was clean, we paid for a suite for a group of four and the room was small, did not have enough towels, the pillows were flat, the fold up bed had little to no cushion and you could feel every wire and metal bar through the cushion. Also the thermostat kept dropping to near 50 degrees.

Fantastic place to stay!!! Everything was absolutely perfect! Room, breakfast, pool, all top notch!!!

I love that we could book 2 bedrooms with two bathrooms with a kitchen! Sooo useful! Parking fee? I’m not a fan.

Pleasantly surprised and grateful for a clean and quiet room when requesting at last minute during family emergency. Staff was great.

Staff was very friendly. Room had signs of age, but sparkling clean. Breakfast was fine. Easy parking.

I travel a lot for work, and I don’t need luxury—but I do expect basic cleanliness and things to function. This place missed both by a mile. From the start, it felt cold and unwelcoming. It looked like it had been cleaned, but clearly just rushed. Trash areas were dirty, and the overall facility felt neglected. My first room? Coffee still sitting on the counter, toilet that wouldn’t flush, and visible grime. Maintenance told me it’s “normal” to hold the handle down for 30 seconds and sometimes flush twice… and then proceeded to explain how toilets work like I’m the issue. It gets better. Windows don’t open—and you wouldn’t want them to anyway because you can’t even see through them. They’re completely clouded over, and the window tracks clearly haven’t been cleaned in who knows how long. Found someone else’s hair on the counter too. I switched rooms. Slightly better—but still dirty and run down. The dresser drawers don’t stay closed, so when you walk by, you end up smashing your knee on them. That’s not just annoying—it’s a safety issue. This isn’t about being picky. This is about basic standards: clean rooms, working plumbing, and a little respect for guests. None of that was here. If you’re thinking about staying here—don’t. There are plenty of places that actually take pride in their property and care about their guests. This isn’t one of them.

Room heat wouldn't go above 65, never really herd it turn in. Could hear everything from the neighboring room. Coming and going. 2" gap below the door, everything in the hallway was loud. Could constantly hear the road traffic too. Worse night sleep. Bed was good, room was big. But not great comfort.

Mold in the bathroom, doors with holes, poor maintenance overall in the room. First room was non smoking we had to leave due to the smell, thankfully staff was helpfull and switched room. Would not recommend specially staying with children.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly. The room could’ve been cleaner , there was trash in the closet and lots of dust. Breakfast looked fresh every morning.
- 4/5
We didn't stay for breakfast. Our dogs were anxious all night and so we were relieved when the sun came up and we could leave. We live in the country and it is very quiet. They aren't used to the noise of the city . Since we were only there overnight, there wasn't anything to dislike.

The room with a separate bedroom was fantastic. I like to sleep in and my husband can go watch tv in the other room. Check in was great. BUT- the room upstairs was SO loud.

We truly appreciated the warm welcome we received upon arrival. Tim and a female staff member at the front desk (whose name I unfortunately did not catch) were both incredibly welcoming and informative. Tim went out of his way to help accommodate us, and the staff member in charge of breakfast was especially attentive and kind. Their hospitality genuinely made our stay more comfortable and memorable. I stayed for a total of three nights. I initially booked two nights and later extended my stay by one additional night. On my second day, I was away for most of the day and was surprised to return to a room that had not been cleaned. When I contacted the front desk, I was informed that housekeeping is only provided every other day. This was unexpected, as it is the first hotel I have stayed at with this policy. When the room was eventually serviced, the cleaning appeared incomplete. Upon checking out, I noticed a significant buildup of lint and debris in the bottom corner of the bed, which raised concerns about the overall thoroughness of the room’s cleaning. This experience made it clear that housekeeping standards could be improved.

- 4/5
Nice room, friendly staff. But charging to park your car in the parking lot was over the top.
- 2/5
The staff were nice, but the stay itself was disappointing. The walls were thin, and the noise from neighbours and barking dogs went on all night. The bed was uncomfortable, which made it hard to rest.
- 4/5
Staff was great! The room was spacious and homey. Loved that! Neighbors upstairs where loud and up through out the night stomping around. Sad to have people ruin a great place
- 5/5
some wrappers in room left on floor room is nice size but does not smell so great - smells musty or stale think needs an ozinator
- 5/5
Room was very clean!
- 5/5
This was a great hotel with friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and amazing breakfast options. Overall, staff were very accommodating and helpful. It was a wonderful experience.
- 4/5
Staff was nice, pool was warm but the TV was disconnected and no one was there or willing to help fix it sadly
- 5/5
Perfect nights rest before flight out of PDX!
- 1/5
The guy who checked me in was great. My room was so Dani with cigarette smoke I woke up with a sore throat and clothes smelling. I told the lady at the front desk and she could care less and said she would tell housekeeping...didn't even acknowledge that I paid for a disgusting room.
- 5/5
Everything was great, especially in comparison to another hotel close by that we stayed at for a week also.
- 5/5
Awesome staff, room and breakfast. Wish I did not need to pay for parking.
- 3/5
Front desk staff at check in were excellent. HVAC issues necessitated a portable ac in the room. Not all that great. Fridge made tons of squeaking noises. Not the greatest area. With ac going out window of first floor, just didn't feel all that secure. It was fine, just needs some tlc.
- 5/5
Rooms were very spacious
- 3/5
Great staff, average breakfast, A/C not working on hot days.
- 5/5
I like the room it is nice but it is diffenatly isn’t a $360 room..
- 5/5
Clean, spacious room. Great service. Some freeway noise throughout the night.
- 5/5
I liked how spacious the suit was. I had guest join me for dinner and I loved how welcoming staff was to them!
- 3/5
Not so, family summer vacation and pool was closed.
- 3/5
Charging for parking is a scam at this location. I will pick a different hotel next time.
- 5/5
Will come back in a few weeks.
- 3/5
This was the view out of our window.
- 2/5
Our room was very close to the freeway and was noisy. Maintenence did not follow thru with fixing tv that was not functioning upon arrival
- 5/5
Close to I5, Denny's down the street
- 5/5
This motel was very nice and clean. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend
- 5/5
Love the 2 bedroom suite, it was perfect for my daughter bday party.
- 5/5
Quite pleasant and comfortable
- 5/5
Great experience, only notable issues were the out of order elevator, which was not working for our entire stay of two nights, as well as the laundry machine being out of order for the same amount of time. Otherwise very clean, safe, everyone was friendly and kind, and generally a very good stay!
- 2/5
If you select any hotel within the same star rating, there really isn't a lot of difference so the little do matter. We selected this hotel because Residence Inn is known for having good breakfasts. Boy were we wrong. One of the worst we've had in a while. No protein for the hot food. They had what looked like an Egg and Sausage/Bacon muffin sandwich, but there was only egg. The scrambled eggs were ok. The egg soufle was overcooked and dry. The waffle maker did not properly cook the batter. Half the waffle was undercooked, the other half was doughy. Very disappointing.
- 3/5
Overall the property seems nice. My negative experience was other guests constantly opening and closing their doors all night. Not very well insulated so you could hear each little thing. Otherwise I’d stay again but maybe request a room on a floor besides ground level.
- 5/5
Had a long stay because of a medical procedure. The staff was wonderful despite their uncomfortable conditions in the loyy and common area that was without heat for an extened period of time.
- 5/5
Fireplace in the room was nice
- 3/5
The staff at the desk were amazing. However, our ice maker didn't work and neither did our tv. The lady at the desk said she would let maintenance know and they would be up in 30 minutes. Nobody ever showed up. They did give us ice when we went to the desk. But having a toddler on a long weekend of sports and no TV sucked!!! They were not sold out and should have moved us rooms
- 5/5
Good family suite opthons with plenty of space and privacy. Breakfast was good.
- 4/5
Toilet did not flush, apparently broken mechanism
- 4/5
It was a nice quiet place. The pool isn't in the best shape. There's no guest laundry. I paid for 2 guests but there was only myself.
- 5/5
A little outdated but overhaul a very comfortable clean and friendly place to stay
- 5/5
We appreciated the full breakfast and the ability to cook our own evening meals.
- 4/5
It was close to where I needed to go. It was also economical
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Our room was comfortable. Breakfast was good. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great spacious area
- 4/5
It was a nice hotel but not the nicest Residence Inn we’ve stayed in.
- 3/5
The room was small- hard to walk around the bed & the living room area had a kitchen table that was really wobbly. We came in around midnight, got settled & went to sleep. Woke up with ants on the side tables & the floor.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Staff was very friendly. Very homey feel. The only thing needing improvement was the breakfast.
- 3/5
GREAT STAFF, and doing all they can to keep a worn-down Residence Inn going. Building situated far closer to interstate than apparent on booking, and constant noise from that not restful. Moved rooms twice, first because the air conditioning not working, second because of noise levels from freeway at all times. (And third room had a slow-flow, partially clogged toilet that had to get fixed.) WONDERFUL STAFF doing all they can, but too much deferred maintenance means this Residence Inn is sub-par and not worth the cost.
- 1/5
We booked a 4 night stay about 6 months ago to visit friends. After arriving and finding out that we had to pay for parking and that there was mold in the bathroom we decided to switch hotels. We then discovered that we were overpaying for the room as well. The pool was very small and we ended up not even letting the kids swim as there was not room. We moved to the hotel across the street with a bigger room, bigger pool and 1/2 the price. Plus free parking. We will never stay in a Residence Inn again. Also the staff was super unhelpful when we voiced our complaints but did tell us that if we did not stay the night we would be charged any way.
- 5/5
the staff are very friendly and made the breakfast hour a bit flexible to suit our needs. The first day check-in was though chaotic and one family had to wait for a room for a couple hours because their room kept being given away to other guests. The lobby is very comfortable and welcoming for group events
- 5/5
Property was very nice. Staff at the desk were very helpful. Breakfast was decent. Would stay again if in the area.
- 5/5
Safe. Accessible. Friendly.
- 2/5
Stay away. Old and smelly. The AC is so loud that it's hard to sleep. Pictures you see online are deceiving. So disappointed by this place that we are going to stay away from any Residence Inn from now on. Since it carries the name Marriot with it you think the place would be kept in better shape. Comfort Inn right across from this place was better.
- 3/5

- 5/5
This was the first time we ventured to take my son in his wheelchair on vacation. The size of the room was easy for him to get around and all of the accommodations in the room and around the facilities were open enough that we could navigate with him with ease. This isn't common everywhere so we appreciate when others look our for a family like us.
- 5/5
Area is quiet.
- 5/5
I had a wonderful stay. It was a quick trip for a Graduation Celebration !
- 5/5
Very good location
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Room exceeded my expectations. Had more space than your typical room in a hotel.
- 4/5
Good hotel to stay at
- 4/5
We were very pleased with this property. Clean, really appreciated the two bedrooms suites. Also appreciated the number of handicap accessible rooms, which is a very important factor for us.
- 5/5
It was clean and safe.
- 5/5
Great location for Enchanted Forest and pet friendly!!
- 2/5
Room we stayed in was run down a little bit. Obvious stain in tub. Several patching work on doors that was very plainly visible. Missing lampshade. Breakfast was very disappointing, way less selection. Not like it used to be.
- 5/5
The room is spacious with everything we need.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly even when we found a snake inside
- 5/5
I loved my stay, hotel is clean, bed was soooo comfortable, employees are top tier! Loved my stay even woke up and had a good free breakfast ! Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
I liked how fast and easy checkout was and the room was in immaculate condition, 5 out of 5!
- 5/5
The front staff were absolutely wonderful.
- 5/5
Stayed for State Basketball tournament very convenient to all the facilities.
- 4/5
Need of an update in my opinion
- 2/5
No problems overall, but a $100 pet fee for a one-night stay with a small dog is ridiculous.
- 5/5
There was some wear in the bathroom but everything seemed pretty clean and smelled fresh and clean. The water heater was replaced while we were there and when we went to use the pool that day it smelled a little questionable and the water was sitting stagnant. I believe that was a one off situation because of the work being done. The only other complaint I have is that they charged $12/day for parking which I was not informed of when we checked in. I think it likely that was the case the year prior as well but I had not remembered that. I like and recommend this property. The staff is friendly and attentive and we like the property and the breakfast.
- 5/5
Todo está muy bien
- 3/5
While on this property multiple items needed to be addressed. Smoke alarm in king room was covered with a plastic bag. King room had door lock reversed so someone could be locked into the room not out of the room. Dirty flat surfaces in the room. Queen room tv never worked. Second floor clients were extremely loud and jumping on the floor through out the day and night. Unsatisfactory for an established hotel like this.
- 5/5
We all liked the convenience of the location, and the size of the room.
- 5/5
We brought the kids and the pool was a hit. Nice staff and clean rooms.
- 5/5
.
- 3/5
This was not worth the money to stay. The bathtub was dirty and stained with what looked like blood. There were crazy smells of weed, taquerias, and raw sewage. The pool was scuzzy and just not what was advertised. Was only here one night and that was too long.
- 5/5
The night manager, Tim, was incredibly thoughtful. We checked in late and he heard us say that we hadn’t been able to grab dinner so he brought us some snacks so we could eat a little before bed. Tremendous customer service!
- 4/5
The elevator was cringe - on the third floor it said only three people can be on the elevator, but the sign was not posted anywhere else. We feared at times if we would make it to the designated floor. Overall, it is a great place and we will stay again.
- 3/5
Ok for a quick overnight stay during a road trip
- 4/5
Front desk staff were kind and friendly. The room was clean and quiet. It was a pleasant place to stay.
- 5/5
Good place for the price
- 5/5
Friendly hosts!
- 3/5
Bathroom was dirty, mainly the shower.
- 5/5
Quieter air conditioning Nicely appointed room and kitchen. Good breakfast.
- 4/5
The property was very nice and convenient for our over night stay. In the room there was several lights that did not work, the dresser drawers were dirty as well as the top of the fridge.
- 3/5
Too much road noise from I5 on our end of the building. Toilet seat was broken and would not stay up.
- 4/5
This is an older hotel, and the rooms actually smelled a little mildewy. They were clean and comfortable though.
- 5/5
Very comfortable and spacious
- 4/5
Nice area
- 3/5
Clean facility, but it is showing age for a place that advertises having been recently renovated. Two TV remotes before we got one that worked. What is up with being charged for parking?
- 5/5
Staff is very friendly and incredibly helpful. Rooms are clean.
- 5/5
Tim and another gentleman were kind, friendly and super helpful. The woman who was working at the front desk, however, was unfriendly almost to the point of rudeness or ignoring a person. All of the other staff and facilities were great except the gym. The gym was pretty filthy and needed attention.
- 4/5
The hotel itself was nice and clean with spacious rooms. The reception staff upon check-in were unfriendly and acted as if i were an inconvenience to them. The room was great, but could use a little more care in making sure the soap, body wash, etc were stocked. Deapite the reception staff at check-in, i would stay here again.
- 5/5
The room is spacious with a little kitchen. Good location.
- 1/5
I have two special needs kids and firstly they gave us a room where the air conditioner was not working and we had to again change the room with great difficulty and now they charged us twice for that stay I don’t think they have any synchronization between hotels .com and residence inn Salem so if you could please help us with the refund issue thanks
- 5/5
I loved staying at this hotel during our recent stay. It served our purposes in every way which made it seem like we were at a home away from home. All of the utilities came in handy for us and the staff went above and beyond for whatever was needed.
- 4/5
Expedia said there was a hot tub we didn’t find one. Pool was clean but needed maintenance.
- 5/5
Lots of freeway noise
- 5/5
I always look forward to staying at Tbe Residence Inn at Marriott. The staff makes you feel right at home from the moment uou walk through the door and all through your stay. The rooms are always cleaned to inspec5ion and the linens on the bed are like brand new. They offer contactless check in which is nice for those of us who are a little more cautious. If your traveling, especially as a family. There is no other place that i would recomend but fhis place. Thank you again for an amazing stay. My 4 yr old daughter cant wait till our next stay with you guys.
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful, and the rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. The girl at the front desk was so sweet and very accommodating. The pool was closed, but they had partnered with the hotel next door to use their pool. Will definitely stay here again if ever in the area.
- 3/5
Not as cleas as expected
- 5/5
Nice room, clean, space for everyone
- 5/5
The suite was beautiful and fairly priced
- 4/5
It was an ok property. The safety lock was broken. The couch had rips on the sides, run down. The front desk staff was super though and made the stay! The rooms were so-so and if it wasn’t for the staff we wouldn’t have liked it. The furniture was way run down. Especially the couch. The lock not being there was not ok!
- 4/5
We love that we could bring our dog. The suite gives us space to spread out. Our TV didn’t work the first day but they came to fix it the next day. Very friendly.
- 3/5
Hotel was fine, only complaints were shower was dirty and the suite had a second shower that was also slightly dirty and had a shelf in it that needed to be repaired
- 4/5
However... It took two phone calls Monday evening to get a shower curtain installed. It was missing when I arrived. Upon getting the shower curtain and crawling into the shower, I discovered the bottle of body wash was empty. The only small bar of soap was out beside the bathroom sink, impossible to reach from the shower. Also, there was no shower cap available, standard in a room of that cost.
- 4/5
Receptionist on the day of arrival was excellent. No good on the day of checkout. No customer service at all.
- 3/5
Clean room Crowded bedroom(had to turn sideways to get to the other side of the bed Pillows had no support Their breakfasts used to be why we stayed there. But now with Covid-19 they offer a Sack breakfast Which was a little pre-packaged muffin and a small apple. ( I was told it was supposed to come with a bottle of water and a granola bar) Could have used some protein.
- 5/5
We stayed for my Ninas 70th birthday. The area was quite and the room was well keep. We did have a problem with the sink draining slowly, but other then that it was very pleasant. Also and In n out is about 15 mins away.
