Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its proximity to the train station and other public transportation, as well as its cleanliness and comfortable rooms. However, some guests have complained about the lack of amenities such as breakfast, a kettle in the room, and air conditioning. Additionally, some guests have found the staff to be unhelpful and the WiFi to be weak.
- Convenient location near train station and public transportation
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Lack of amenities such as breakfast and a kettle in the room
- Unhelpful staff and weak WiFi

The room was clean and had beautiful big windows. However, the hotel is located on a busy street. Opening the windows and doors, and spending time on the outdoor deck wasn't a pleasant experience because of the excessive noise and car exhaust. The location is right in downtown Salem within walking distance to a nice walking path and restaurants nearby. The kitchenette is really designed for eating quick to assemble meals, like cereal and heating up pre-made food in the microwave. I wouldn't plan on doing actual cooking.

We love this place, it has become the only place we stay when visiting friends in Salem

Great gem of restaurant. Only draw back is hidden deposit for valet parking
- 5/5
Room was clean, beds comfortable and adequate space with sitting area!
- 5/5
Great location to see a show at the Elsinore Theatre. Valet staff very helpful to find street parking.
- 4/5
Parking is an issue. Unloading zone is in the parallel parking spots in front of the door and if full you are out of luck and must keep circling the block. If valet parking is full them you must find metered street parking. Pay 8 am - 8 pm M - Sat. Tip: don't arrive during rush hour. Traffic is horrendous and you will be circling for a long time. Otherwise great staff and room was nice. Really good Italian restaurant on site for dinner, but the breakfast was pretty bad. Staff there were also really nice
- 5/5
We had a great stay.
- 5/5
At check in parking was by valet only. My room was clean. There was a fridge and a coffee maker(keurig).Maid service was offered every day. I did not have the breakfast that cost extra.I was overall satisfied with the room .

Our stay was fine. The room conditions were fine. The staff was very courteous and helpful, except when it came to getting our room made up. We were assured it would be and when it wasn't, we requested financial adjustments to the cost of our stay. We were assured that it would be taken up with the general manager and we would see some adjustment. When we checked out and inquired of the adjustment, we were told it couldn't be done since we booked through Hotels.com, but that we would receive a generous level of bonus points added to our Hilton account. And that any financial adjustment would have to come from Hotels.com. Easier said than done, since it is not easy to get a return call from Hotel.com. Sigh...

Great breakfast options . friendly staff and hotel close to many restaurants. Nothing

The Holman is a very nice hotel with a great Italian restaurant in the lobby. Initially I was disappointed with the parking but the valet is on top of it. You can request your car via an app and it will be waiting for you when you get downstairs. The Staff is so friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful stay.

Room wasn’t turned over, staff didn’t care. Used towels/soap, trash in cans. Pretty gross for a $300 stay.

We had an amazing time at the Holman. We enjoyed the friendly service at the Front desk by Jessica. We loved our Beautiful Suite with the sitting area and the Kitchenette. We had a very comfortable stay and will be back. Best place to stay in Salem

My room was on the 7th floor, room was impeccable, spacious, nice view of river front park, bed was comfortable like sleeping on a cloud! The balcony was a bonus, the view in the morning while having coffee was amazing! Only downsides to room was the keurig was not properly cleaned from previous guests so I couldn’t use it, and once morning came their was this odd vibration that made it feel like an earthquake, very disturbing as I was told laundry was on second floor and the vibrations felt like that of the laundry on spin cycle to drain. Hotel does not have a pool or hot tub, and no free breakfast as was claimed, had to purchase meal from restaurant. Didn’t see no meal options at check in.

Property has no microwave, no breakfast, and parking is off the street. For the amount of money it is not worth it

Great location to the Elsinore Theatre. Breakfast was so incredibly slow!!!

Always appreciate the huge flowers in lobby. Front desk staff very friendly and professional. Love being so close to big park for early morning walk with our doggy. Overall, room was clean and comfortable. Only wish there were more amenities in kitchen - only had a couple of coffee mugs. Would be nice to have a few plates and utensils - forks and spoons.

Great staff, rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable.

Rooms are small, but they are transparent about it.

You have to pay for valet 32 a day or street parking for an hour, was not in plans for the stay other then that everything was amazingly good.
- 5/5
Checking in was a breeze and the attendants were all very helpful. The heavy curtain in my room was broken but everything else was clean and in good shape
- 4/5
Extremely clean hotel, very updated, with incredibly friendly staff.
- 5/5
Check in and parking was seamless. Front desk clerk was friendly and accommodating. The room itself was beautiful, although there was some traffic noise all night.

Super comfy and spacious rooms. All within walking distance to many great cafes and restaurants and the waterfront park and lots of hiking trails across the foot bridge.

Overabundance of flies outside the entrance. Long wait for one person issue to check-in. Bar does not have cable TV so don't plan on watching sports events

Great staff, top notch hotel with a nice vibe. Lively in the evenings
- 1/5
The outside street noise was unbearable and got no sleep at all. There were cars racing, peeling out, loud motors - could hear everything until 3am. The hotel is beautiful but the noise outside was out of control - it’s a downtown hotel there should be better soundproofing.

Staff were all very kind! Elevators are fast- which is a plus! Area is walkable. Out room had used k pods, and a dirty sock on the floor when we checked in. The bags were just placed near the trash bins, but not in them. I found that odd. I also got charged for my service animal and will now have to call the get that charge removed.
- 5/5
Clean rooms friendly staff
- 4/5
This is a nice hotel convenient to the downtown area, restaurants and the river park. Parking was a surprise on arrival as you only have a choice of $32 valet or paying for street parking until 8P and then starting at 7A. Also, and this is more Expedia’s fault - I paid Expedia an extra $15 for the optional buffet breakfast, which did not exist at the hotel. You have to buy a breakfast separately at their restaurant or snack bar. Neither the hotel or Expedia would refund me the $15 I paid to Expedia for a breakfast buffet that doesn’t exist, and the hotel would not credit the $15 towards a breakfast purchase because I had paid it to Expedia when making the reservation.

Adjacent restaurant had excellent food with good service. Would be excellent but for the cost. A little on the high side for me.

It’s always a pleasure staying at the Holman. The location is great and gives you the ability to walk not only to the beautiful waterfront or simple eat your way though downtown Salem.

The room on the 7th (top) floor was incredibly loud.

Room small for two people but clean. Staff was great. Hotel is great for a one nighter but would be tough for longer stays.

new hotel, big lobby with nice seating area. best hotel I've found in downtown Salem.

Gorgeous hotel! Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean, immaculate rooms with lovely amenities. The restaurant is great too! I’m not really sure you could want anything more.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 3/5
No breakfast, no tv programming, front doors do not stay open no ammenities
- 2/5
When I pulled up to there loading & unloading area I hadn't stepped out of my vehicle before some guy who I assumed worked for the hotel as he wasn't wearing anything to identify himself asked me asked me "what was I doing" umm checking in & he proceeds to tell me I am going to have drive around until I can find an open spot & if I wanted to pay $32 for valet I could do that. I would have thought that as much as I paid there would have been complimentary valet parking, after I circled around a few blocks I was able to find a spot down the block & around the corner nothing like adding more worry to me. I was not greeted by a friendly person behind what looked like a counter top who instead of your normal hello welcome to I was greeted by a no eye contact woman who told me they were doing a shift change & bthen just continued to talk to the other employee of the hotel who also didn't acknowledge me got to the room it wasn't the room I had picked out online, the room was small, and no bathtub the one thing I was looking forward to
- 4/5
Valet only, noisy from traffic, no continental breakfast. Clean. Nice staff.

Fantastic room, staff, and stay.

Decent hotel. Furniture not the most comfortable.

- 5/5
Clean and well appointed.
- 4/5
It is very noisy, but they provide earplugs. Parking was advertised in the listing including valet parking. Upon arrival staff informed me that garage is full and asked me to search for parking on the street myself
- 5/5
The only negative was that the building could get a little noisy - but not a huge deal and not really the hotel's fault
- 5/5
Clean room and kind staff. Only caveat is that the street parking can get full near the hotel at night and you have to drive around the area to find parking
- 5/5
This hotel is sparkling clean. Location is great, too.
- 4/5
Hotel was per friendly, we got a room with a sting area and it was very spacious. No hotel parking lot unless you valet park, we were lucky and close street parking was available and free for the day we were there.
- 5/5
Love this hotel. Chrissy at Reception was phenomenal. Room was perfect. Beds were comfortable. On site restaurant, Gamberettia, has great fresh pasta and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. A block from the river front park. Lots of great little restaurants in the area. This hotel even had a loaner wheelchair!!
- 5/5
Clean hotel, friendly staff, valet efficient. Good location in the Salem downtown area.
- 5/5
Nice, excellent staff
- 5/5
within a couple blocks. Staff was excellent and would bend over backwards to accommodate.
- 5/5
Best experience I had in recent days with staff, room cleanliness and ease in getting in and out
- 4/5
Over all, it was the staff that were the saving grace and brightest part of our stay. They were all so helpful and kind even as we noticed that they were all there working long shifts because they were very short staffed.
- 3/5
Food is nice in the hotel restaurant, nice experience for both breakfast and lunch. Staff is friendly as well. Some of the hotel staff at the reception is cold. The bed sheet looks like used... Shower is not really comfortable. It's a disappointment.
- 5/5
Everybody was fabulous, helpful and friendly. The attached Italian Restaurant was also wonderful.
- 5/5
A great hotel! Very clean, comfortable lobby, friendly staff and well located.
- 5/5
Loved the rooms here! A beautiful hotel!
- 5/5
Great hotel. Super noisy downtown Salem at night. Hotel does provide earplugs.
- 2/5
Received a room with bathroom sink draining poorly. Was switched to another unit and as soon as we opened the door it smelled offensively. Informed night attendant Zurich I was not staying. He promptly stated He was canceling my reservation without any charge. I haven’t received any reimbursement as of yet. !!
- 1/5
Ripped me off. Overcharged. Gave me the wrong room, no refund of over charges.
- 5/5
Valet only parking. The valets are very helpful above and beyond just taking care of the cars. The rest of the staff are very helpful and professional in their duties. I had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is very conveniently located a brief walk from many amenities including the Riverfront Park, and many amazing location at which to enjoy a lovely meal. I did not have a pet in tow but I saw some very well behaved pet guest during my stay. I never once heard barking.
- 5/5
Very friendly and pleasant staff Room service, front desk and valet parking. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a comfortable lodging in this part of town. It was certainly easily accessed.
- 5/5
We enjoyed this location and our room, but the necessity of valet and no self park option was rather annoying. The staff were all friendly and helpful and our rooms was ready early which was great. We also enjoyed the restaurant at the hotel, and the convenience of the little coffee shop in the lobby was great as well.
- 4/5
Clean room, decorated nicely.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel near the river front
- 5/5
The staff was very kind and the room was lovely!
- 5/5
The staff were extremely friendly and answered every question I had. The hotel was very upscale looking yet affordable. The room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Would definitely book here again!
- 5/5
Treated my mom to a complimentary bottle of wine for her birthday and made it a great experience. Room was very clean, restaurant downtown was AMAZING!
- 5/5
We had a great time, room was clean and they have a restaurant in the hotel with very good food. Shoping all around. Would recommend. Parking is available close to hotel.
- 5/5
Comfortable rooms, friendly staff
- 2/5
The sliding doors to the bathroom were hard to open and close the first sliding door before the bathroom I had to leave open as it took two of us to open it back up. The ac unit had condensation leaking from the top and I had to keep wiping up water off the ground the floor seemed to have no sound barrier as the floor above us you could hear any walking upstairs I was constantly worried about making sure my family was walking as quietly as possible and on our part we didn’t know we were right next to some place they seemed to have a concert both nights it was like a rave in your room up until about 930
- 4/5
Room was very small, expect that at Quinta, not a pricey hotel. Otherwise fine and convenient.
- 5/5
Really nice Hotel, downtown urban feel, staff was super nice and helpful. Authentic Italian restaurant on the property was an added bonus, dinner was great. Thank You.
- 2/5
The hotel itself is very nice…new and modern. The location is downtown but the side our 5th floor room was on was above a very busy street…at all hours! We asked for a change of room after the first night but we were told it would be an additional 60$/night for a queen room vs the king we had reserved. That’s terrible customer service. There were ear plugs on the night table so the hotels knows it’s noisy. Bad experience! The hotel parking is limited and the area the hotel is in has a lot of homeless wandering past the off-site and street parking you have to use if the valet parking is full. Staff was not accommodating or helpful.
- 4/5
Good shopping nearby. A good Italian restaurant on the premises.
- 5/5
We had two rooms and both were comfortable, quiet and immaculately clean. One of the rooms overlooked a rooftop green area, which was a lovely view. I was impressed with how quickly the housekeeping staff got to our rooms; every day when we got back from breakfast (This location is excellent for walking to some really good local restaurants!) our rooms had been reset to perfection. The beds were really comfortable; we will definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Quite disappointing you charge for parking in spite of the fact I stayed at your facility.
- 4/5
Was decent, separate restaurant was slightly inconvenient, no assistance at all from hotel, parking was strange and required a bunch of running around.
- 5/5
Courteous staff at the modern hotel in downtown Salem. Conveniently located within the city with clean, modern, comfortable rooms and a delicious room service menu. Bravo!
- 4/5
Pool was heated perfectly and rooms were large. Wish there was luggage carts in the parking garage. Also parking $45/night.
- 5/5
Walking distance from Hoopla basketball tournament restaurant on site was delicious but service wasn’t good. Seemed the restaurant may have been understaffed.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved the suite that we stayed in. The accommodations were beautiful and the staff was incredible! They definitely treat you like family. And having the car valeted was phenomenal! We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location, great staff
- 1/5
Poor communication
- 5/5
Overall a great stay and service was great
- 5/5
Excellent Property!
- 3/5
The upscale Hilton was a mere basic hotel with very little to rave about, the room was dull, the food was mefiocre and the service was marginal at best
- 5/5
Having a kitchen available while traveling with a baby was VERY nice!
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Lots of restaurants, bars and unique shops all within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great staff and fabulous stay. Thank you!
- 4/5
The hotel was very nice. The city is strange and I did not like the area. But the hotel was good and safe. The temperature in the room didn’t go low so it was hot
- 5/5
The inside was beautiful. The location is very close to everything fun downtown. They only have valet parking, which was full when I was there. They are also on the road racing circuit so noise outside can be loud at night.
- 3/5
Beautiful view of the bay! If your room starts with a 6, be prepared to carry your luggage up two different sets of stairs. Also no washcloths or hand towels in our room. Not sure if that is their standard or if it was an error. In general a nice property. 3.5 rating for me.
- 5/5
It was a wonderfully stay, close to many places to with lots of activities. And I was down there for my daughter’s graduation. So getting to stay somewhere that was very close to where it would be was a deal maker. It was wonderful, the staff were very friendly. Only thing is to make sure you tell valet to drive it slow. Somehow killed my battery but it was good after a jump. All in all a good trip.
- 4/5
NIce warm. Atmosphere gorgeous views of the downtown area very friendly staff
- 5/5
Salem is a cute little town lots of restaurant options walkable
- 5/5
Nice, clean and new property with easy access to everything
- 2/5
We stayed for medical reasons and its vicinity to the hospital. Advertised Italian restaurant on site. Which we craved a hot meal after a 2 hr drive. Ummm, we stayed the ONLY night it was closed ?!! I would have rethought some things as many places to eat around is within walking distance but I am mobility impaired.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay at The Holman.
- 5/5
The hotel is very clean. And new. Staff is ver accommodating. The room I was originally given was very noisy and the ac had a problem. Told front desk they immediately arranged another room. Exactly what you expect from Hilton. Restaurant associated with hotel is very nice. Food was exceptional and wait staff was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
Great lobby and restaurant
- 5/5
Staff went above and beyond, staying past 2:00 am to allow me to check in after delays getting to airport in Portland, Oregon!
- 5/5
Front desk staff was very helpful, securing free parking for us.
- 4/5
There were minimal cons about the Tapestry. Parking was a little tricky. When checking in, all spots out front were filled, so I had to circle the block a few times until a spot opened up close enough to haul my bags in, about a block away. There is 24/7 valet, but all of the valet spots were filled. I ended up opting for the valet for the remainder of the stay. (It's an additional fee...no worries there.) The "bottled" wine at the restaurant in the hotel came in crafts, out of a tap, I believe. Not a huge issue - I just prefer to be able to purchase an unopened bottle if desired. The bathroom had great lighting, water temp, and was very clean. The shower did not have a shelf for toiletries. Again, not a huge issue - just a small detail that is nice to have. In the end, I would definitely stay here again if I am in Salem and would recommend it to others!
- 4/5
The overall hotel is very nice, good location but it would of been nice to know they charge you for valet parking when they sound like they are offering it as free or included in the rate already.
- 5/5
This was such a great hotel. The decor, the service, the rooms and dining options were all first rate.
- 4/5
The hotel and room were nice, very modern. The beds and pillows were very comfy! The toilet paper was of the quality of a rest stop, however. The parking garage is valet only, which you have to pay extra for. Or hope you can find parking in a free garage a block away, or find street parking which has limits during the day.
- 2/5
Staff were kind and it’s a nice hotel. It’s clean and in a convenient location. Here are the downers. First, the ac is preprogrammed and I unchangeable other than turning it off. Sleeping was difficult as we were too warm. Secondly we were traveling with friends and the charged both our rooms for the valet parking. We had only one vehicle. They also added an additional unknown charge to our room. Costing us an additional 102.58. I spoke with them twice about this and have yet to see a refund processing. My overall impression is that this might be a regular thing and I wasn’t supposed to notice and just pay it. Lastly, the tv in one of the rooms wasn’t working and wasn’t fixed during the stay. Overall it’s nice but it is overpriced. I’m not sure if we will stay there again and we will be going to the area regularly.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and welcoming
- 5/5
Gorgeous property, room was amazing. Everything brand new and beautiful. Definitely will stay again. Front desk staff and valet very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Absolutely great service by every single person I interacted with. all were more than appreciative to all customers. Breath of fresh air compared to normal dad to day “lack” of customer service.
- 4/5
I do want to share that it was a bit loud, and not outside/traffic, but inside, with maybe the heating system in the hotel as a whole? Lots of continuous rumbling turning on & off. And my thermostat only went between 68 and 70, so I couldn't turn down the heat like I like to at night. I requested a fan from the front desk for some white noise (generally rooms have them in a closet, but not here), and they offered that they have them for sale at the front desk which is LAME. I don't usually complain or leave bad notes on reviews, but it really irritated me about the fan, about the thermostat, and then about the incessant rumbling noise. (I was on the 7th/highest floor, so maybe that's where the hotel's HVAC system is, directly above my room?) Nice place otherwise, but I likely won't be staying here again if I ever find myself in Salem.
- 5/5
I flew in from Philadelphia to meet a friend. When we arrived they have valet parking right at the front door. My first impression the staff was attentive and friendly. After checking in and talking to the front desk staff, they also have a parking pass option at a nearby parking garage for a cheaper price my friend and I selected that option was great! The room was incredibly clean and modern, smart tv equipped lots of outlets to charge devices. I was able to sign into my Netflix account really had all the comforts of home. The King Size bed was perfect. Walk in Shower, lots of closest space for any wardrobe. The Staff did txt me and asked me how my stay was. The one night my friend and I ordered pizza had some leftovers stored in the fridge. The room was not equipped with a microwave but upon telling the staff they quickly brought up a microwave and installed it in the room 10/10 response time. The restaurant in the hotel was beautiful, great food and happy hour daily. I stopped in twice during my stay, the staff was great there too. I did not try the breakfast as we walked around Salem to try local coffee shops and breakfast restaurants there are so many! Shopping mall very close to the hotel I got some gifts to take home with me there. By the front desk they have a colder filled with any beverage you could think of grabbed Gatorade when I was thirsty after exploring all day. Overall was a great experience. I’m very glad I selected this hotel!
- 5/5
Great experience walking distance to Salem downtown venues.
- 5/5
I was there on business and used a conference room one day, as well as staying in a guest room for 3 nights. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I have stayed at multiple Tapestry properties, and I believe this was my favorite. It was certainly the most well-staffed.
- 5/5
Nice property and location beds were comfortable. Very clean hotel staff was polite and respectful.
- 5/5
Second stay here! Great staff and rooms are SUPER clean.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. The rooms are clean and well maintained.
- 3/5
The hotel is in a fantastic location for walking around Salem. Our room was in an interior location with a view of a wall, so not thrilled about that. The bed is comfy but sits on a wooden base that has square edges and sticks out further than the mattress, so I have a really pretty bruise on each leg to show for our stay. Otherwise, the amenities are nice and our room was quiet.
- 5/5
However, we encountered some confusion regarding the breakfast service. Despite selecting the breakfast package for our family, there seemed to be a communication gap with the cafe staff about what was included in our accommodation. The ordering process was challenging due to staff uncertainty about the breakfast allowance terms. The situation was ultimately resolved at checkout, where the front desk staff professionally handled the matter by adjusting our bill to compensate for the shared breakfast, charging only the gratuity. While the food service team was friendly, the dining experience was somewhat impacted by distracting behavior from one staff member, which made the already complicated breakfast ordering process more difficult to navigate. The hotel's physical amenities are outstanding, though some improvement in breakfast service coordination would enhance the overall guest experience.
- 5/5
Super sharp hotel, with a modern look, a nice, clean, well equipped gym, and a terrific restaurant on the main floor. Shout out to the entire staff of the hotel, especially Jessica! We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Salem.
- 5/5
Great place and location if you want to see Salem. Helpful and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 4/5
Wish it had parking garage, pool. The place is nice however not much amenities.
- 5/5
New with a great staff. Will stay here again!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
The hotel was really nice and the staff were all friendly and helpful. They provide earplugs in the room and you’ll need them. The traffic noise is extremely loud.
- 5/5
Everything was great. stayed in room 421. only complaint is when the entry doors closed we would get a crazy noise like the electric lock wasnt working right. if they are battery powered maybe it was dying or something. otherwise everything was top notch.
- 5/5
Easy check-in, the room was immaculate, and the front desk staff person was really great.
- 5/5
Expensive but nice.
- 4/5
The service at the hotel is top notch. The location is super convenient. My only drawback was the comfort of the bed and pillows.

This hotel is amazing, check in was quick and easy, Very modern and right in the middle of everything downtown.

Great downtown hotel—walkable to lots of attractions and restaurants, great running routes at Minto Brown, clean, quiet rooms, friendly staff, nice restaurant and overall a win.

Second, the balcony door didn’t close well on the bottom so cold air was getting in all night. Lastly, the maintenance people were doing paint touch ups in the hall and there were no signs. I must have brushed against it abs it ruined one of my go-to coats. I was very unhappy. We’ve stayed here before and love this hotel. The views are amazing and it’s clean, clean, clean. So many spots throughout the hotel to relax. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Salem but these few bumps were disappointing.

it was great!

Room was perfect, bed was comfy, liked the valet option, and was in a good location.

A hotel at this price should not charge $1.50 for water in the room. Should be complimentary.

My only reason for the four rather than five star review is when we checked in we specifically requested a quiet room. One would think if you had a room available on the top floor that would be the obvious choice, no? We get to our 4th floor room and apparently elephants were staying above us rehearsing their circus routine late into the evening. Very thin ceilings? Is that a thing?

I called and tried to resolve this, management never called back.

Beautiful hotel and room. Parking is either on the street or valet. No garage which is mildly annoying. Would stay here again

My only complaint was the parking situation and that their parking was full and I had to search for parking in the area, but the hotel itself was wonderful and comfortable.

The room with a kichenette was very useful. Loved our stay.
