    Have stayed here before. "Renovation " has been going on for 3 years. Great location, average property, some staff are not helpful. Marriott needs to take it over, get the upgrades done, work with staff to improve attitude

    This property is a disaster; it's an old tired facility and it's undergoing some rehab, so it's extra bad right now. We were assigned to a room right next to one undergoing remodeling,so everything was a mess from the elevator to our room; most lightbulbs were out, the bathtub was horribly stained, the construction workers woke us up early, the TV broken, etc. After the first night, they re-assigned us to another room that was handicap enabled, and at least the TV worked; but I had to shower and shave in cold water, and the sink had no counter top for toiletries, etc. Avoid the property at all cost.

    The Fairfield in St Charles IL (across from Geneva Commons) is amazingly improved over the last year under new ownership. The building and the rooms have been refreshed and that prior 1990's aging decor is GONE. New place is beautiful. Still under some renovations at this time, but the refresh is excellent. The staff is another area of upgraded improvement! Michelle, the GM, was so helpful on the phone and in person. Consistently. If you've stayed here before and been disappointed, give it another try. Well worth it.

    Nice entrance, they had a good breakfast Upon checking in the gave us a room with someone else belonging in it, went back and told them it was someone else room, but he said the room was not occupied. Gave us a different room bathroom was dirty room had a funny smell and A/C didn't get cold enough. Only stayed the one night because it was late already and found a different hotel the next day.

    The room was good. Plenty of room. The bathroom needed some work. However they had several crews working on up grading the bathrooms, they just didn’t get to my room yet. The free breakfast was fantastic. The staff very friendly and helpful. Good place to stay.

    The room was really nice, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Breakfast was very good. Staff was outstanding. The shower was nice,but the water never got hot just Luke warm. The place is being remodeled and the pool is closed. Would have been nice to know that. I usually go to the hot tub and go swimming so that was disappointing. Otherwise when they get done it will outstanding. We will definitely go back.

    The bed was clean and comfortable. I was unexpectedly told that my bank card would have a hold of £89 for “incidentals” that would be refunded 4 days after checking out. It took 10 days after we checked out to be released. In addition, the hotel charged me twice for my stay, admitted it was an error on their part and again didn’t release the funds back to me for 2 full weeks when I was back in the UK. Staff were hopeless at dealing with or escalating the issue. Marriott did not return calls or respond to urgent email. In addition, the hotel is tired, decorated badly, our bath was painted over which had flaked off and left brown stains over the floor of the bath. The price of the stay did not reflect the poor conditions.

    They are obviously updating. Carpet was new, bedding was very nice. It was quiet on the 3rd floor at the end. Everything worked properly. Breakfast was as expected with some nice additions. It was very comfortable and I travel,to this area often so this may be my,home away from home. I often travel with my dog and they do not accept pets.

    There were other problems as well. Although I booked and paid for three nights through Expedia, the hotel claimed that only one night had been paid for. I had to contact Expedia to clarify the reservation, and even on my checkout day, the payment issue still had not been fully resolved. Overall, this was a very stressful and disappointing stay.

    The hotel is under renovations, so the pool was closed, the elevator was in rough shape, and the construction work was noisy. The toilet in my first room didn’t work and we were moved to another room with an extremely loud bathroom fan. At 7:15 am the construction began with hammering, followed by the grass being mowed at 8:00 am, and housekeeping attempting to clean the room at 8:15 am.

    Breakfast was fine. The property wouldn't let my wife and daughter register until Hotels.com gave the authorization to get their room. Maybe my mistake--but it should have been immediate when they arrived. I had the reservation and they had my card info. First issue. Then--the property--elevator floor covering was shot and taped up--clear duct tape. The walls were filthy in the elevator as well. The hallway--exit sign hanging by a wire--ice machine exterior filthy and was in-op.--garbage can overflowing next to the ice machine. The bathroom counter was dirty--dust covering the vanity. The beds were good however. Neither myself or my family will be staying at this property again. On a good note--your rep at Hotels.com was very helpful with the registration process and spent almost an hour getting the property manager to let my family get their room. They were in the area for an funeral--a very tragic situation nonetheless. I demand a credit of some sort--it was just that bad ! Maybe the entire set of charges .

    The first thing I noticed was the floor in the elevator had tape on the floor to hold down the Vinyl flooring. It looked disgusting . Then my duvet was dirty w a few stains and crumbs on top. The toilet is too low and needs replacing. Overall the place is old and I would never go back. The breakfast was very good and the staff attentive. Oh and my mini fridge gurgled loudly in the middle of night.

    I booked this room 2 days before and then read a lot of negative reviews on the fairfield site that is was dirty and run down . I will say while the hotel is a little old it wasnt bad. But there are a few things that really bothered me. I asked about coffee if it was avalible 24 hours a day at the desk and yes it is. Each morning at 430-5am the coffee was ice cold . I see someone sitting at the desk so its not like they are too busy.to refresh the coffee sitting there .This happen 3 days in a row. I also like to excercise in the morning before work the excercise equipment is pretty new and has a tv on each one but none of them are connected to a antenna so I excercise to hotel music :( , The dirty towel bin was full all 3 days and no new towels avalible. The breakfast was ok I did compliment the nice lady making it but right at 6am things were still a little cold unfortunetly I had to be out the door before 7 am . Lastly my first entry to the room had a smell of smoke while the whole room didnt smell like this I did notice this as the first thing as I open my door . I really sets a bad impression . It is visable they a working to improve but the little things like cold coffee and no clean towels or tv in the weight room are just so simple to take care of but mean some much to the traveler

You can tell they train the staff to say it's out of order to all guests. Like it's just a given. They let the eggs run out early at breakfast every day.

    We are currently teaching my three year old son how to swim. Part of that process is swimming more often with him. When we were looking at hotels we really wanted a hotel with a swimming pool. I chose Fairfield Inn because they advertised that they had one. Upon arrival (July 2nd 2025) we found that they drained the pool. It should be illegal to advertise something you no longer have! The staff were new and untrained. Our receptionist struggled to get us booked into a room. While we were out to celebrate the 4th of July (2025) a cleaner threw away my son’s soiled clothing that I left in a plastic bag. The cleaner, however, didn’t throw out all of our actual trash that was in a trash can. The room smelled of some sort of chemical treatment. Worst of all the side door used for entry (supposedly only to people who have key cards) was broken and left open permanently. I did not feel safe with it open and our room being right by that door. I would not recommend staying at Fairfield Inn.

    Room was billed as a suite, but was super small.we needed to use the pull out sofa, but you had to climb over the sofa bed to get to the bathroom. Cracked tiles in bathroom and not enough towels washcloths for 3. Pillows were small and flimsy. No abily to charge via ethernet cable, like other hotels have had available for years. Pool was being repaired but they did not say anything about no pool till my 14yr old grandson went looking for it. Breakfast buffet was very limited. Will not be going back.

    Loved this property! The breakfast was more than what we expected. It was quiet, clean and Kim the hotel manager was amazing. She was so sweet and very accommodating. The rooms were a bit dated but renos are on their way. Shopping was a quick uber drove up the road. Definitely will stay at this location again!

    Our room 324 had a stain on the bathtub… really needed to be changed out. The air vent in bathroom needed to be dusted. Otherwise, service at breakfast was very friendly and accommodating. Front desk was pleasant as well. Shopping plaza are very close as well, so if you forgot something, no worries… easy to find all types of stores close by.

    Tired property. My bed was worn down and soft. Room is not quiet - could hear neighboring rooms as well as outside traffic. Bathtub needs to be reglazed; looks disgustingly dirty. Pool is empty and appears to have construction material in the room. Water shut off at 8:00 am. Had to ask reception what was going on; maintenance had shut it off to do some work - hope it was emergency work otherwise timing is bad. Had to check out and head out for my day without a shower.

    We have stayed here several times. Not once has their whirlpool been in order, and this stay - the pool is closed as well. The bathroom needed many updates (the sink sprays water everywhere, the tub is rusty and chipped, etc). Overall, the whole place was dirtier than usual. Leaking / dripping water in the lobby, hallway carpet unraveling, room door chippped up and the room needed cleaner walls and paint. Just disappointed.

    1) Pool was scummy and very cold. When informed staff that the pool wasn't heating, they said the pilot light may have gone out. I saw the Maint person and he said someone more qualified would need to be called to light it. Stayed for a week and never got better. 2) The Ice machine on the 2st floor was broke. I asked at the front desk and was informed to use the machine on the 2nd floor. 3) The fridge in the room was worthless. It was designed to work for 2 hours and then shut off. Supposedly there was an 8 hour mode, but never got that to work. When informed the staff, they laughed and agreed it was worthless. 4) There was a storm the last night we stayed, and rain was dripping inside the window. I placed a towel to soak up the water so that the AC didn't get shorted. In general, the place is old and needs serious maintenance. However the staff was friendly and tried to help wherever possible

    This is an old hotel with antiquated furnishings and fixtures. They use a lot of air freshener to mask the funk. Seems to be below the average standards of Marriott properties. Needs an update badly.

    I specifically booked this hotel (and paid a premium) so we could use the pool and hot tub. We were not informed prior to that the pool had been out of service (and we were actually told that the hot tub was always in disrepair), so that was a let down. The staff was nice enough and the rooms were clean enough.

    Front desk people were nice. Their snack area needs replenishing and no vending machines on my floor. No microwave in my room which would've been nice to heat a frozen dinner, but it did have a mini-fridge. (Grocery across street if needed) Room very clean, bed & pillows comfy.

    The A/C was on inside the room that I was given. The thermostat was reading 57. The temperature outside was -14 below. I had to increase the thermostat to make the room warm. I notified the front desk but we told him it was gradually increasing but still freezing. The toilet got clogged up also, but I managed to unclog it by dumping water with a wastebasket, the air dryer wasn’t working either or it could have been the socket in the washroom. For all that money I spent, I expected way better room accommodations prior to my surgery at Delnor Hospital. Never again will I stay in your hotel

    The hotel has a perfume in the halls that is somehow sent through the air ducts. Very noticeable. The rooms don’t have a scent though. The washer in the guest laundry worked. The dryer didn’t. Had to figure out what to do with two wet loads of laundry. Not fun. The tv in our first room didn’t work so we got upgraded to another room. Good service! Poor maintenance. The rooms had dim lighting. This is the only hotel within many miles. Wonder what would happen if a competent competitor came to town? Location is great. Walk to shopping and restaurants.

    Expected the property to be more in line with other Fairfield’s I’ve stayed in. Seemed to be in rather shop worn condition. Rooms were clean but dated. Time to get rid of tubs. Too hard to stand in, slippery and traction appliqués had been removed. Holes in wall that were poorly patched and unpainted. Light fixtures very old and basic. Room A/C was adequate but not great. Common areas (halls, Lobby, dining area etc. we’re not conditioned at all. Had one box fan on floor in the lobby. Not up to the task. No USA Today or major newspapers. Just the Kane County local paper. Complimentary breakfast was good. Selection was good with a lot of variety. Don’t know what I should expect with everyone raising prices and blaming it on Covid or inflation. No bed bugs so that’s a win!

    Shower was slippery and I fell out of shower and onto floor. Luckily held onto grab bar that minimized my fall. Nothing broken, but a little sore. Taking pain killers. Told front desk about it - and staff said they were “aware” of the situation. suggest anti slip on tub

    My first room has ac that wasn’t working. The staff were great - proactive in getting me a new room promptly. I really didn’t like that there was no bar or even a larder to buy a beer from. The bath tub was shallow and stained. Best thing about the hotel - the friendly and helpful staff but the hotel itself - very basic. Not good value.

    This was the biggest waste of money. When booking hotel there was no warning that the pool was out of service, which was an amenity that we hoped to use. Also the room was filthy, stains on lamps, walls, carpet. The room smelled of cigarettes and mold -and the water coming out of the faucets smelled like well water. I will be contacting health department and the better business bureau for false advertising and obvious health code issues. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH . I cannot believe how much this disgusting hotel cost, such a waste.

    It was okay. The property is old and needs updating but they keep it pretty clean. The breakfast is a typical continental breakfast. The location is convenient. The staff was very polite and helpful. I would probably stay again.

    The front desk staff was not trained fully to use computers. I tried to call there twice for a reservation and the phone rang at least 10 times, so I used Expedia. I did call for an earlier day and then we added a day at the end and that resulted in getting new reservation numbers and our room keys changed each time. My husband had gone down to the lobby to add a day and the next day, the front desk said that they had no record of this on their computer, and that is why our room was not cleaned again. In 5 days our room was cleaned twice. We had to go to the front desk to get towels twice. The room was very clean when we arrived. The place is very clean except the front lobby windows are so dirty.. It is a very comfortable lobby to wait for a ride, but to have look through those dirty windows? We were there 5 days and they were never cleaned. Planters were half planted five days later. I am a gardener and it was so tempting to put those two dozen dying little plants sitting on the sidewalk into the planter, and weed their garden. The original garden is very nice but the weeds are as big as the plants now. The food was good. Eggs and sausages were hot and mini spinach quiche were good. A good selection of foods and beverages for breakfast. Not sure if this was new management problems, but they need to get their act together on the front desk. Beds are soft, so if you like a firmer mattress like Hilton, you may not get it here.
