The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean and in a wonderful location. My favorite part was the spa.

The water pressure is very low in every room . We thought it was our room but they told us it was every room . The pools inside the spa areas were dirty . The floors in our room were dirty too. The beds were comfortable.

I LAST STAYED HERE IN 1976 AND IT WAS RUN DOWN. NOTHING HAS CHANGED EXCEPT FOR THE WORST.

When we checked I. Around 2:30 we were told our room was almost ready when in fact it wasn’t ready until after 4:00pm. Had they been honest with us we could have walked into town and looked around rather than sitting in the lobby all that time. Of course, the girl who first checked us in, left at 4:00 and the new person who had zero personality repeated all the paperwork I told her I had signed. Finally she found my papers and without apology she handed us the keys. The bell man was helpful and pleasant. The property needs some serious updating.

Our front desk greeting was less than welcoming, however most of the staff was kind and helpful. The property is clean and yet shows wear in the hallways and some of the furniture. That being said, the room was clean and linens and towels nice. Our room had a patio facing the pool, which was convenient and nice. The pool activities were resort like with music and "speacials" through out our stay. The best part of the resort was the spa and the extra amentities which came with the services. The lap pool was quiet, the hot tubs while in use, were not crowded, the indoor pool was also uncrowded and all drew a more quiet crowd. We did not eat at the resort, but rather walked into Safety Harbor. I thought the price was reasonable and would stay again.

The room was huge and in a very quiet part of the resort. The walk-in shower and massive rain shower head was amazing! We had a nice view of the Bay and I was able to watch the sunrise each morning from the balcony. The resort grounds were very well maintained and within walking distance to great restaurants and shops. The hike from the lobby to our room was very far. We were on the fourth floor and on two occasions, the elevator was not working properly.

I've been visiting this resort for over 20 years and love it so much! There were a few things I noticed during this visit though, that I was a little disappointed with. Front desk and spa desk staff all pretty much had a bad attitude. The bartenders and valet guys were great, however! And things (room, shower, deck, pool deck, and pool) in general felt dirty or unkept. The food was fantastic. We ate at both the pool and the restaurant near the front of the resort.

I liked the valet was an option. I enjoyed the spa area because check-in is at four, but I was allowed to use the spa to get ready for my BTS concert before checking in which was amazing because it allowed me to get to the BTS concert on time. I don’t like that check-in was at four at least three years a little better. I didn’t like that there is no continental breakfast scene that I paid almost $400 for one night. I feel that should’ve been something that was included.

We enjoyed our stay and would certainly look to come back! The pool, restaurants, and bars were all good. The spa and amenities were enjoyable. Easy parking options and really fun 3rd Friday experience on property with music and in surrounding neighborhood. There were some areas around the resort that weren’t in great condition, like the Athena Tower elevator which had a terrible odor all weekend and the a/c in our (bath)room was very loud.

Absolutely gorgeous and unique place to stay in the quaint town of Safety Harbor. Very walkable area with easy parking. One of our favorites!

I had an amazing time! The staff was so nice and I loved the spa! No complaints will definitely recommend and come back!!

Historical and upscale property with large spacious rooms. The pool area is dated but functional. Plenty of parking and friendly staff. The food was excellent.
- 5/5
We love this classic resort, and we come back every time we are in the area. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, large, and comfortable. The beds have cotton sheets, which is rare nowadays. Our walk-in shower had the biggest rainhead I have ever seen! The historic spa is, of course, the main highlight at this location, and it does not disappoint! Large steam room, sauna, and cold plunge pool in the women's area. I wish some guests would follow the rules and shower their sweat off after they steam and sauna BEFORE entering the plunge pool. I think they need to make a bigger, clearer sign. Maybe just say to shower each time you enter. All three of the swimming pools are nice and large. The spa treatments are good and reasonably priced. They use mostly organic products. The Fountain Grill always serves up very good and tasty food, but there is also a wide variety of food within walking distance. Great location!

Safety Harbor is a wonderful spa with all the amenities you would want. However, as a person with mobility problems there are a few issues. There is too much walking with long hallways with ramps that lead to various areas of the building and are difficult to navigate. If you're not lucky enough to get a handicapped designated parking spot the walk into the building is also long. The hot tub water was very hot, a little too hot for me. The jets were strong so strong I began to float and people had to come to my aid to help me out! The buildings are older but well preserved with clean spaces everywhere I went. The decor is elegant. The workers were all very nice and extremely helpful. My massage was wonderful. Every spa treatment you can think of is there along with robes, lockers, showers and changing rooms for both men and women. Great restaurants and drinks for your choice. I'm sure the Easter Buffet was delicious but it cost a bit much for my pocket at $97.00 per person. Safety Harbor was an enjoyable weekend experience. But be aware and careful if you have mobility issues.

Lunch was amazing and the mid-day service was great. The improvements they've made since I was here ten years ago seem amazing. Our room was very nice though the floor didn't feel clean, and the A/C barely worked. When I called the front desk for help, the woman working the front desk around 8pm was very rude. She was even more rude when I tried to order room service. I could find no directory so I hit 0 to try to get connected. When I said I was just hoping to get connected to the restaurant to order room service she said "this isn't the restaurant, this is the front desk so I'll transfer you" in the most rude and annoyed tone I've ever heard from a hotel staff member. Ordering room service was easy and the food was delightful. We didn't get any spa treatments this time. Overall a very nice stay but the rude front desk employee is not up to the standard I expect from a resort of this caliber.

I like the 1920’ s vibe. Was in town for a wedding so didn’t have time for spa treatments. Pool look beautiful but couldn’t get a lounge chair as a hotel guest. The room furniture was old and beat up. Could have also been laid out a little better. The walls were also thin, I could hear the next rooms conversations, plus being above the music and by the elevator was noisy.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Our first-floor poolside room was incredibly convenient, allowing us to enjoy the pool with ease. The rooms were clean and comfortable, making our visit relaxing and enjoyable. While daily maid service would have been nice, we received service as requested, and the staff was always friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect—just a short drive to Tampa airport and Clearwater for spring training games. We also loved exploring the charming town of Safety Harbor, which offers plenty of great restaurants and unique shops. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant and convenient stay in the area.

Great massage, room a bit dated and missed a few places when cleaning.

I understand the hotel is part of the community and should serve it as such, but perhaps a limit needs to be placed on how many drinks non-guests can order / better vigilance of cutting those off who've had one too many... When a "regular" is identified as "Drunkie Dillon", perhaps it's a sign that some policies need to be changed for the benefit of all.

The spa services--massage, facial, water aerobics, salt scrub, etc.--were exceptionally good. The spa staff were courteous and kind. The hotel check-in process and was totally unacceptable. I was initially assigned placed to a poolside patio room, despite having reserved a balcony room. The manager--someone named Sylvia--then reluctantly placed me in small annd spare balcony room in the tower, where the balcony door was stuck. Maintenance tried to fix the door; but despite adjustments, I was still unable to open it. The manager rudely told me the fault was mine--the door was fixed but I was unable to open it, presumably because I am small and a senior citizen. She then gave me a balcony room in the main building but charged me $40 more than the price of my original room reservation. I objected strenuously, but Sylvia was unmoveable and very rude. She never once made the slightest apology for my discomfort through this process. The add-on fee was outrageous under the circumstances, and Sylvia was beyond disrespectful. May I add that I showed Sylvia the confirmation I had received for a deluxe roo m with balcony--not either a balcony or a patio, but specifically a balcony. I and members of my family have been vacationing at the spa for many yesrs. Unless I receive a refund for the extra $40 a night, I will not be returning and I will not recommend the hotel to others.

This property is very tired and in need of TLC. We had a very loud rattle in A/C unit - no way anyone could sleep with the noise. They technically fixed the a/c but it was still soooo loud so they moved us to new room. It's just really tired place - wobbly lamps, loose facets, old bathrooms, chipped paint, Smelly hallways - it's needs a lot of TLC.

Man at the front desk is definitely not the warm and friendly type. The smell of something dead greets you when you enter the elevator. Enter our room which is very underwhelming, floors look dirty, outdoor patio and 1 chair are dirty and unkept. The best part is our supposedly freshly cleaned room has about 10 squares of toilet paper. We were definitely put in the junky building of the hotel. Not worth the price of the stay AT ALL!!!

Front desk was very welcoming. Room clean and well appointed. Lovely water views. My only complaint was the soundproofing was probably the worst I’ve ever experienced in a nicer hotel like this. It sounded like my neighbors were in the room with me and I could hear every toilet flush from above and next door very loudly. I’m not sure if this was due to my being in what appeared to be a connecting room with a door.

locartion Room Smell loike musky - Dinner came out with hot wanted kettles that had discolored water in both kettles. Our room was right in a loud door. We could not leave the hotle arking the morning of our daughters baby shower bc the %K race had us blocked in... there were no signs for a way to exit and we had to go back inside to find domeone to find someone to move a temporary gate for a rear exit. Not a hotle I want to stay at again.

The facility was highly recommended and was conveniently located for our purposes. The room was very comfortable and clean, but it could use some updating. Only negative of our stay was the first day; after traveling since very early morning, we went to the hotel restaurant (which was practically empty) for lunch. The food was good, but it took 35 minutes to receive our meals, a basic salad and a grilled chicken sandwich. Fortunately, we were not on a strict schedule, but the server had no way of knowing that.

Very old hotel. The Athena elevator had a really toxic smell in it. We had to cover our noses when we used it. There was mold visible on the walls. We put out the breakfast request before bed with our selections and time to deliver. They never brought it. I called them an hour after it was supposed to be delivered and they hadn’t even started making it. They weren’t even apologetic. They actually acted inconvenienced. So I just cancelled it. I would never recommend it to anyone. The check in was easy and they were nice though.

First night we arrived, the first room had a strong smoke smell , so they agreed and moved us to another room, then that room had no hot water. The next morning we got a call that they were going to move us again because they had pipe issues. We were moved to a third room. When we came back to hotel Saturday night, we were exhausted to only see the bathroom floor was flooded. I was beyond tired to complain at this point and didn’t want to move for the forth time since we had a flight at 5am. When I brought up to the manager‘s attention, how inconvenienced this was to be moved three times in less than 24 hours, he said there’s nothing he can do about it, that he didn’t know anything that was going on. It’s so unfortunate how bad our experience was in safety harbor.

This year the only New Year's Eve entertainment was the $259 special event deal. There was NO entertainment in the regular bar/lounge area this year, like the last 2 years with the Latin ban from Tampa. That was very disappointing! Not everyone (especially older folks) can pop for $259 each.

The staff were certainly not warm and welcoming. Not one smile from the lady that checked us in, she seemed very stressed. The room was freezing cold. I called maintenance and front desk several times, when he finally came, he said it was because it was old. The water from the shower was barely a trickle. Also, on day of checkout, 11am housekeeper knocked on room door telling us we would charged an extra night if we did not leave immediately. We were not impressed, we used to frequent this property but we will not return, there are far nicer, welcoming hotels in the area. I am also a Wyndham Diamond member.

The staff were certainly not warm and welcoming. Not one smile from the lady that checked us in, she seemed very stressed. The room was freezing cold. The front desk confused our reservation. They told us we had 2 reservations that were prepaid. We spent about 2 hours trying to figure this out and contact whoever we needed to resolve this. There was only one reservation and their wrong information caused us to spend about about 2 hours trying to resolve this. They said the reservation was a third party named hotelbeds.com, which I have never heard of. It was very stressful because we tried to cancel the phantom second reservation before the check in date, the date we checked in. Thanks for any feedback.

Unfortunately we had to check out soon after we checked in as the room was not only dirty, but the shower nozzle was broken, shower head was full of mold, the sink hot water handle was not working, the ceiling was coming down and their was a puddle of water from a leak in the ceiling. We had two rooms, and the other room had no air conditioning and the staff was unable to connect us.

The room we stayed in was in an old and run-down section of the hotel. Only 2 very flat pillows provided and mattress was uncomfortable. No complementary water provided and when I called front desk to ask about water, I was directed to a water filter machine by the elevators that didn’t have cups. I expected that even a basic room from a facility that sits directly over a mineral water spring could afford their guests with 2 small bottles of water. The outside pools were not heated, perhaps broken. The outside tiki pool’s complimentary water jugs were empty and when I brought it to the attention of staff-it remained empty and I had to wait in line for a water refill each time. The Safety Harbor area is charming and I’ll plan on a return trip.

The pool area was spacious and pretty clean. The room was clean. I asked for more towels since they only clean the room every two days and I was only there two nights, and I never received fresh towels. The tv was missing the cable and I could not get local news. That oasis was fixed right away. There were no 50 minute massage slots open only 25 minute massages. The whole reason going there was to relax and get a massage and I didn't get a massage. I probably will not go back there.

The resort is old Florida style. It could use some updating, but it's a nice relaxing place that has everything you need.

This is a beautiful historic property. It reminds me of the way Florida resorts used to be. Service everywhere. It's very clean, and offers everything. Breakfast room service is available along with a pool patio bar and a solid menu of favorientertes from the restaurant. I had seen some other reviews commenting on a door hinge with rust on it, or other imperfections. This is an older property with old Florida charm, plus it sits on the waterway. What would one expect? Here's what you can expect. An excellent stay with food and drink available everywhere at all times, actual doormen, entertainment, a quaint downtown with some pretty surprising fun activity on the weekend evenings, pleasant staff, and very clean accomodations. Very nice stay, and we will return.
- 3/5
Location is nice. Close to shops, restaurants, walking path, etc. Free parking! Rooms were big, but the door had to be pulled shut forcefully. Filled out the card for breakfast, hang it on the door, but never received and was told it was due to them not knowing which room it was. I am not sure why the person that pulled the card would not have written that information, if it was needed. I thought I had done my part. Great burger at the pool though. It wasn't anything fancy. If anything the structure itself could use some attention inside and out.
- 4/5

This seems like it was once a pretty top-notch resort, but it's a little rundown. The AC system in our room wasn't really working: when we arrived, it was on the coldest setting and couldn't be lowered. A technician fiddled with it, said it was an old system with a lot of problems, and set it in such a way that it then never went below about 75 degrees. The heating system also kept the hallway at a chilly 60ish. Both the sinks and the shower had to run for a full five minutes before even getting warm. On the plus side, room service was incredibly prompt, surprisingly reasonable in price, and delivered by really friendly staff. The valet parking guys and bellhops were all really great: friendly, helpful, very professional. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and well-appointed, if the furniture was a bit dated. We had a meal at The Fountain grill, and the staff who tended to us were really great, especially considering that our little one was being very fussy. We apologized for her loud behavior, and staff were incredibly understanding about it. Overall, I'd say this place has seen better days, but they still offer what counts: old-world hospitality. I would definitely go back, even with the cold room and clunky hot water.

Well, let me start with what I didn't like. The people at the Front desk were professional (to a point), but also NO passion or heart. Were kind of rude and looked down upon, if you weren't dressed like money. My five days there I spent a lot of money at SHR. I'm thinking this next guy was the manager at the restaurant (older gentleman / bald, with glasses) and this guy was very rude. My son and I have been sitting at a table for 25 minutes with no one helping us (This was the Saturday before Mother's Day), and he had to make a little sarcastic remark about after the 25 minute-wait, he says, "Now look at all the attention you're getting." I had to deal with dirty looks the whole time. We paid and we tipped well, even though this is the customer service my son and I were getting. Very disappointing. Okay, one bright spot was "Eddy," very nice and outgoing. And shout out to the nicest and genuine people in that resort was "Housekeeping." Also, the resort had "Spectrum" internet, ...and that was "always" cutting out. This was horrible. So what went well? Besides some awful customer service, the food was "Amazing." BEST eggs benedict I've ever had. Drinks, pool side were fabulous, and I liked the amenities that came with the resort, even though the messuages were fully booked and the young brunette lady there didn't bother to tell me the next available appt. The location of this Resort was great and our room was wonderful with exception of couldn't watch any local news.

Our room and the hotel lobby were very nice. The pool deck was the dirtiest I've ever seen. We could'nt get over how dirty it was. Very disappointing because the food and drinks at the outdoor bar were very good. The spa area is in need of renovations. It looks shabby unlike the beautiful lobby. One of our outdoor patio chairs was ripped and we couldn't use it. We requested a new one but said they didn't have any replacements. The hotel wasn't fully booked. They could have borrowed one from an unoccupied room but didn't choose to.
- 1/5
Hotel told us our reservation was canceled when we tried to check in. Despite having a email from Expedia with hotel confirmation number. Front desk staff insisted that we no longer had a room 45 minutes later the hotel rebooked a room for us. However, every stay at Safety Harbor spa and resort there has been an issue. For the air conditioning not working to room being cancelled.

I have stayed at this property several times before, and it has always been great. This time not so much. I dumped my stuff in my room and went out to dinner, but when I came back, the room was full of mosquitoes. I walked into the bathroom when they were gathered around the bathroom lights and around the toilet. I found a tissue and managed to kill a good number of them probably around a dozen also, but there was still some in the room. I didn’t ask for a replacement room because it was late. After 10 o’clock, and I was tired from my travels. When I woke up the following morning, I was covered in bites. When I mentioned this on checkout, the person behind the desk didn’t seem to care at all. In fact, he could barely even look me in the eye. Unfortunately, it is the nicest place to stay in Safety Harbor, so I will probably end up staying there again. However, you can be sure that if there are mosquitoes in the room, I will demand a replacement room.

Just stayed for one night - had a family member from up North passing thru FL so I booked us a night here. I’m a local & have stayed here before, like 10yrs ago. I love this resort! Beautifully landscaped, great pool, tiki bar area. Loved our room - 4th floor gives gorgeous views of both the pool deck & of Tampa Bay! Wish we had more time here but this inspired us to do it again in the future for longer time. The location on the water & next to the Main Street district in Safety Harbor was perfect. Thank you!
- 4/5
The property was well-kept with plenty of activities. The pool area was convenient and the restaurant prices were modest and affordable.
- 3/5
May need additional improvement. Dirty carpets, walls falling apart, moldy smell.
- 1/5
The front desk staff are very rude and not very friendly. I am totally upset with our reservation. First I had the splash package and then they said I didn’t. So they charged me for the first day after we already had food vouchers
- 4/5
TV didn't work. Water pressure too low.
- 5/5
Loved the property!
- 2/5
This hotel was so very cold in hallways and rooms. Another traveller also complained but they did nothing. Temperature reading 58-60 Also staff are aloof and rude except for waitress Molly and cleaning staff.
- 3/5
For $400 a night, I was expecting a better quality hotel. The location is great but just be prepared that the rooms seem very old.
- 5/5
I liked the spa and restaurant.
- 4/5
Safe, quiet area.Clean resort and property. Was not greeted by front desk upon entry, did not feel welcomed!
- 5/5
The perfect place to rest and relax. Sweet town right next door. Wonderful food and staff. None of the over the top usual resort fees like valet parking. Very comfortable rooms and huge gym, spa and classes. A rare find in these days of overpriced hotels in noisy locations. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
I was there for 5 days. Staff polite and professional.
- 5/5
Great location and amenities
- 4/5
Front staff needs to be attentive. Bathroom needs some renovations
- 2/5
This was very frustrating which I did state. They did not offer me anything for the inconvenience so I asked what can be done about this inconvenience and then I was offered a lunch voucher which I appreciated. I booked the 80 minute Swedish full body massage. I was brought to a treatment room that was right next-door to the outdoor area where there was an extremely loud baby shower going on. There was music and someone on a microphone and I then requested to switch rooms for the treatment. My masseuse was willing and we did switch to a better room. However, my treatment ended up being only 70 minutes versus the 80 minutes. This doesn’t sound like a big deal however when you are paying $175 for a massage plus $46 for the service fee -10 minutes is a big deal! The massage itself was just OK, however, what threw me off was that my masseuse reek of cigarette smoke, especially her hands which was very distracting and caused me to have a headache . They provide each client with a locker however it was very annoying because my locker key kept malfunctioning despite me following directions and not getting it wet. I had to keep going to the front desk for them to come and open it for me.
- 4/5
Great location and staff!
- 4/5
Overall this is a great place to stay. The main reason is the hotel's location. Once you arrive, you never need your car until you leave. Everything is very walkable. The hotel is in bad need of updating. It does seem clean but everywhere you look seems to be outdated. Great amenities. Just wish they would work on freshening things up some.
- 5/5
Beautiful view from the room, despite the construction. Very friendly staff.
- 3/5
The facility was attractive and we anticipated a much nicer stay than we experienced - especially for the price we paid.
- 3/5
The hotel states they redid the rooms last year. I doubt that. The carpet looked 25 years old and stained. The walls dirty and baseboards rotted. I stayed one night having paid for an ocean view balcony. It smelled. Id pass on this one.
- 3/5
Wifi was poor, the grounds were great and the quiet was perfect
- 1/5
One beaten down property
- 5/5
Great little property in the heart of Safety Harbor. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. The staff at the hotel was always very helpful and courteous. Rooms were large and clean - if only a little dated. But the hotel has a lovely charm to it.
- 4/5
Older building nicely furnished, lots of features. Great proximity to dlowntown

- 5/5
Great stay. Thank u.
- 1/5
Disappointed there was no parking available ended up parking in the street. Did not know that there was a resort fee upon checkout thought that was all included in the price found a cockroach in the room. The pillows smelled of bleach and were not very comfortable. I would not recommend those prices.
- 2/5
The hotel was nice but it has a stench that carried on the bottom floor. In our room enjoying a show , a roach ran across our breakfast ordered from room service! These two instances made our stay horrible and specially choosing the venue after some research for a nice place near the water.
- 5/5
The rooms need updated, but we’re clean. Perfect location, rest food was phenomenal. Restaurants were phenomenal. Great location.
- 3/5
Liked end unit of Terrace view over the Pool, but Partial Bay view with giant palm trees blocking bay view, butler's pantry with sink, efficient. Outdated bathoom with tub, thin walls can hear next door guest like they were in the bathroom with me/ heavy doors that slam all day.too noisy. Stayed before in the older tower bay view above tennis court, not noisy but very outdated.
- 4/5
Property was very nice however the rooms need to be updated. Otherwise everytjing was really good.
- 1/5
Never again!!! Old and decrepit hotel with the rudest front desk staff.
- 5/5
Always classic charm, beauty and excellence. A 1920 historic landmark maintains its updated features and offerings.
- 4/5
Was well maintained, lots happening at resort
- 4/5
Wonderful New Year's Eve party.. The band was amazing and so engaging 💙 The room was convenient but needs to be renovated. Noises in bathroom plumbing and it smelled like sewer gas. Breakfast buffet was okay but bacon was limp and sausage was way over cooked. It was SO cold in the dining room we had to go back to our room to get a sweater. Told 2 people and they just said Yes. We only come for New Year's Eve.
- 3/5
The view was beautiful, but the decor was dated and the pillows were AWFUL. The AC wasn't able to keep the room cool and even with the dehumidifier running the room felt damp and muggy. Hallway reeked of marijuana. No microwave.
- 5/5
Beautiful place with walking distance to everywhere. Great restaurants too!
- 4/5

Room had a nice view but old and can use an update but it was clean, plenty of towels and large. Pillows were fantastic for sleep! Overall a nice property.
- 5/5
Only stayed one night so couldn’t experience everything resort has to offer, but enjoyed our stay! Would stay again!
- 4/5
The property is in need of some TLC. Our room was staid with old carpeting and furnishing that needed refreshing.
