Hampton Inn & Suites Rochester Downtown

The hotel is located in the downtown area by the Play Museum. The parking lot can get full toward the evening, we luckily found a spot but something to be mindful of. Check-in was a breeze, our room was clean and nice. The bed and pillows are terrible - mattress is hard as a rock and the pillows are pretty useless. The bathroom was nice, we had a walk-in shower. We had also upgraded to the room with a wet bar, only because it didn't seem that every room had a fridge and/or microwave. It was a great sized room, several places we could put our luggage out, and the desk was a nice to have. All in all it was nice and in a good location, we just didn't sleep well because of the bed.

Very clean place and nice rooms.

The breakfast was unimpressive, but the staff were excellent. Our closet doir was off the track and the toilet toll holder was loose. Every time we used toilet paper, the toll would fall off. But the staff responded to our complaints quickly and without complaint.

Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, and great location – walkable to museums and restaurants. Only criticism is that the water pressure in the shower was extremely low. I’ve noticed this in other hotels recently too— I am encouraged to see a hotel conserving resources, however, low flow faucets can be installed that maintain decent water pressure.

The hotel and staff were wonderful! We planned a trip to The Strong Museum which is literally right next door. It was all by 1 minute walk, best location to visit this museum - specially with small children. The breakfast options were good and food was delicious, something for everyone.

Bathroom floor needed cleaning. And bed was horribly uncomfortable.. was given a handicap room.. and bed seemed to be to accommodate that. Lower on one side and horribly uncomfortable.. staff did offer to change room but wasn’t able as affair we were there for would have been missed.. Why put someone in a room like that if you had other rooms to begin with.. have stayed here before but will not again.. For the price room should be clean too

We stay here every year because of how great it is and how convenient it is to go to the Strong Museum next door.

Had to use the overflow parking across the street. Just have to make sure you have everything you need from your car before parking. There was an issue with the TV in the room. Great breakfast and location to strong museum. Pool was cloudy and had to shut down one day during day time. although 4 year old had great fun and made friends. Bunk bed not comfortable, bunk bed room very tight not a lot of space for 2 and 4 year old to move around.

Room was updated, spacious, and clean. Free breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. Parking lot was small but you can park in the museum of play lot and get it validated at the hotel.

The breakfast had so many options. There was a choice of oatmeal, waffles, cereal, fruit, sausage, potatoes etc. The location couldn't be more perfect for people who are visiting the strong museum. The pool area was very clean as were the rooms. The area surrounding the hotel seemed to be "up and coming". It felt super safe. Will definitely stay here again.

All was perfectly fine. However, shower water pressure is dismal.

Wonderful and clean room. Excellent ans fast check in. Parked right across from the strong museum. If there is no parking you can use the parking garage at strong and get ticket validated. Very accommodating and child friendly. Loved it!

Needs improvement: Customer service needs improvement, breakfast was understaffed, difficulty finding staff for replenishment during breakfast. Staff seemed, flustered during breakfast, breakfast time was very understaffed, the garbage bins were overflowing. Would have appreciated the option for plain egg omelette as folks have pepper allergies. Also with a variety of ages at the pool many older kids were diving around the smaller children. As a family friendly hotel this should be monitored better. Also the pool looking a bit murky almost every day.

The room was spotless, but the cleaning staff seemed to have overlooked the minifridge, which still contained leftover food from the previous guest. Unfortunately, the food had gone bad, leaving a foul odor. I chose not to bring it to the hotel staff's attention and instead quietly disposed of it myself. Apart from this minor hiccup, my stay was pleasant.

Came to Rochester for the strong museum and chose this hotel due to its proximity. Check in and check out were both very easy and fast, the room was spotless. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great for the kids. We had dinner at Lila’s and I loved that they had a kids menu; we did not have time to use the pool during our stay but it looked great. Overall we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

If I could give this place six stars (one more than normal), I would. Everything was perfect. Location was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast even had certified gluten-free items (Udi's). The room was so quiet. The place was very clean. The amenities were amazing. The on-site restaurant was amazing. The decor and vibe was fun and pretty. I loved all of it.

We love staying here! We went to the strong museum and it was conveniently nearby (walking distance). Breakfast is very good and it is very family friendly! We have stayed before, and I would stay again.

The hotel was cery modern, updated, clean and well maintained Their pool has wonderful accessibility for all bodies who like to swim (a built in ramp that my toddler enjoyed splashing on). The water was a little cold in the pool, but we *did* go swimming in december 😆 we visited the strong museum for my toddler's bday but at the end of the weekend, she said swimming in the pool was her favorite part of her wbole birthday!!! Thanks for helping her have the best day ever! ❤️ breakfast was really busy, so guests should get there ealy for the s'mores waffles!! 😀 shout out to the breakfast staff and the guys shoveling the snow every night during our stay! Thanks for doing such a good job!

We did have dinner at Lila's, the restaurant in the hotel - it's pricy but the food is excellent!

Stayed here with my family. Loved that they had rooms with bunk beds which was perfect for our family of four. The breakfast was decent and the kids had fun using the pool. Also a block away for the children’s museum. Recommend this hotel.

Great place to stay with the kids. Directly across the street from the Strong museum of play. Less than a 1 minute walk. If you stay there on a weekday, they usually let you keep your car parked in their parking lot.

The hotel itself is very beautiful. Customer service was very pleasant. Parking lot was a little small, but I appreciate the overflow. I was able to park in smell, parking garage and a validated my ticket. definitely will recommend to others and looking forward to booking again.

I loved how clean this hotel was and how easy it was to go to places. It's a pretty artsy little city with amazing restaurants nearby. The pool and gym were also great. Who knew Rochester was so cool?

All the employees were very polite and accommodating.

Good location, spacious and modern bedroom and bathroom. My toilet flush button stopped working, not clogged, and I had to call maintenance, by the time they came the flush button was working again. Very nice to have free parking, although the lot is small. They validate if you park across the street in the museum parking garage, but they close the garage overnight. Breakfast was nice.

This hotel was very clean and clearly managed well by the staff. Special shout out to Silas who checked us in and was very personable and professional, as well as the Manager Alyssa who was very helpful helping us explore a potential extension of our stay. Each person, from the young lady who brought out fresh coffee to the housekeeping staff were very helpful and kind, and that matters a lot for the guest experiences. The room itself was very clean with little touches like l rose in the Kleenex box that just made it feel special. They also welcomed my fur baby and they don’t use down pillows which was a relief!! This will be my first choice whenever I come to Rochester for a visit.

We really liked the hotel. Clean, beautifully urban, great service, and a great location. I would have given it five stars but for the wi-fi situation: you needed to sign up fo the Hampton promotions program in order to get it for free. It felt like an insult, and didn't do it.

Absolutely loved our 3 night stay here as we were visiting the strong museum and Seneca Zoo. We enjoyed the swimming pool and the breakfast had decent options. Will definitely be back again

Surprisingly, breakfast was not different from hotels for which we paid 90 dollars and it was extremeley busy. Also, no fruit options. So, to say that it offers a buffet breakfast is a stretch. We were lucky to find a spot in the parking lot, but it was the last one. Not conveniant at all. If we had arrived two minutes later, we would have had to park somewhere else. Staff was ok, not super friendly. Also, because I booked through Expedia, I could not get my Hilton honors points.

Only small issue was with breakfast, it stopped at 10 and we came down around 20 til and could hardly get to anything because staff was stocking and had cabinets open and were cleaning up. Other than that, great stay and great location.

Pool was a huge hit with my kids (nice and shallow). Tasty food at the bar. Our room was clean and the bunk beds were very convenient for traveling with kids. It’s across the street from the children’s museum!

It was the best stay. The hotel was clean. The workers there were all so friendly, professional, accommodating and always had a smile on there face. The restaurant and breakfast buffet was great, food was excellent. The beds were so comfortable. On another note, It is located in a very congested area, so if you are looking for a more relaxed area probably not a good choice. We went for medical reasons, so it was perfect. Everything is so close. Strong Childrens Mueseum right across the street. Would go back!!! Thank you to all employees for making our stay great!

A very nice hotel right in the heart of downtown Rochester

The hotel was very clean and super close to the strong museum! The only downside is that the parking lot is fairly small. But there were additional parking at the strong museum (and free if hotel guest)

I loved the hotel and room overall. The only thing is the juice served during breakfast could be a better quality; it was not good.

The hotel location was perfect, just a 6-8 min walk from the venue I went to. This is easily the nicest Hampton Inn I have stayed in. My room was a corner room on the second floor that had an outdoor area with table and chairs. It would have been a great place to hang out with friend if the temperatures were at least 30 deg warmer. The room was very large and modern. Also, this is the only Hampton I have stayed in that offered a free shuttle to and from the airport. It is also the first one to have a pool, sit down restaurant, and bar. Another unique feature was the room and restaurant areas had numerous plugs and usb ports to charge a device or laptop. I might return to Rochester just for the hotel experience.

Our second year staying at this property did not disappoint! Family friendly, great breakfast buffet, perfect pool for little kids, proximity to the Museum of Play can’t be beat - if you’re staying in Rochester with kids, this is the only hotel I’d recommend.

We liked the breakfast, bunk beds and pool. It was across from the Strong Museum which was convenient. We asked for extra blankets as there were no quilts on the bunk bed but they never brought them. They gave us a note the first day that they couldn't clean our room because they were short staffed so maybe that's why.

Perfect location for a family with young kids. Strong Museum right across the street. We booked a room with a king size bed and a bunk bed for out kids which worked out really nice. Good breakfast. My only complaint is the pool was too cold.
