The room has a connecting door between two rooms. They should have informed us about that beforehand. The walls are too thin, and I can hear everything from the room next door. The breakfast is terrible. I paid an extra $17 just to eat there. However, the server is super nice. I feel bad that she has to work there when the breakfast is so bad.

I like the room it was very spacious and beautiful. The view was also great. I didnt like that towels was sitting out in the hallway. And the bartender seemed a little frustrated. Also the pool may need a little bit of an upgrade.

We stayed two nights and had no housekeeping services for our entire stay. Nobody came to empty trash, bring fresh towels, or make beds during the entire weekend. I'm also not confident of the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The air vent in our room looked like it had not been cleaned in a while. There was a discrepancy in our original booking cost and what we were actually charged. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights. We were billed $399 for Friday night even though it was not a holiday or special event and $229 for Saturday night. That's a $170 difference even though both nights should have been the same weekend rate. The hotel did not respond to my inquiries for clarification. Another small issue - there was never coffee in the coffee machine in the lobby. It was a very disappointing stay, which unfortunately has made me not want to return to a Holiday Inn hotel. The front desk staff was polite and friendly - that was about the only positive of our stay.

The front desk attendant told us my reservation was cancelled because I checked in late in the day and I didn’t call to notify of a late check in. We had to drive over 3 hours from Richmond and arrived past 11pm, only to be told then that they gave up my room to another guest. The attendant didn’t even offer to find a sister property for us. We had to find another hotel about an hour away at that late hour. Not friendly or helpful front desk attendant.

On the website it states that the swimming pool is open, but it was not and there was no sign showing that they were closed so this made me have a terrible stay

Staff was nice and welcoming. I loved the covered gazebos for individuals that do smoke and how close they were to the entrances. Dog friendly atmosphere wad also a plus! We did have a situation where, when I came out to smoke after dark, an individual that was on a bike was just loitering by the back parking lot. Obviously did not stay at the hotel but we immediately told the front desk and was told it would be handled. Maybe a on-site security guard since the hotel is secluded from site ( at least in the back parking lot). Also breakfast we paid for was really sub par.

I appreciate the consistent quality of Holiday Inns, however, I do wish they would consistently offer breakfast as part of your stay. Breakfast is listed in the amenities, but is not included; a buffet breakfast can be purchased for an additional fee. The hotel was clean and the accommodations were quite comfortable with the exception of the small refrigerator not having a freezer section. The staff were friendly and lovely and I enjoyed my stay. My room had a lovely view of the Appalachian mountains to get me excited for my day of exploring.

I loved everything about this place Parking could be better

The first thing I saw when I walked to the door with my bags was trash left in the room, the bed was unmade and clean, and there were dirty towels and washcloths in the bathroom. Not only could they not accommodate by cleaning that room for me because housekeeping had left for the day but I also lost the mountain view I paid for because I had to change rooms after I put all of my belongings and the dirty room. They asked what they could do to make my stay better but we're unable to accommodate by giving me a discount on the room because I booked through the third party meaning you at booking.com All they offered was a free breakfast which was not well enough for me to compensate for the inconvenience.

Downsides: limited healthy breakfast options. The surrounding area isn’t pedestrian-friendly (few sidewalks/crosswalks), especially for those with disabilities, and there was some trash around, though it felt safe. Overall: Great views and cleanliness, but room for improvement in breakfast and walkability.

The room wasn't cleaned properly and there was dirt in the corners and sometimes stuck on the bathroom floor. Bodywash was empty. They charged for breakfast, but it was all cleaned up 15mins before the end time. Also, you have to pay for water, as they don't provide complementary water bottles. Overall, I would not recommend the place.

The room was relatively clean. A little dusty. Blanket and sheets were very starchy and stiff as well were the the towels, they needed some fresh linens and towels with fabric softener. The TV would not connect to the internet.

Location was great, near local family. We needed a wheelchair for an emergency in the middle of the night, and after some searching, the staff found us one. So grateful. Coffee in lobby was great! Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, especially the floor. Otherwise, very good and comfortable.

Everything was fresh, clean and smelled nice. AC worked amazingly. Big pillows were GREAT, made the bed and sleeping more comfortable. Only complaint was lack of water pressure at shower head, but this seems to be the norm everywhere.

The reason for the terrible rating despite the excellent conditions is that I was there for a convention half an hour into the quote about half an hour into the convention. We received word that we were being thrown out. The convention was canceled. I have gotten your money back, but still, it was by no fault of our own. It was because of the hotel.

The room was quiet on the 5th floor. The staff was friendly. The hotel had parties both Fridayand Saturday until 2am with DJs. You couldn’t enjoy anywhere on the first floor because of thumping subwoofer. It was very loud. Even outside seating areas couldn’t be enjoyed because of how loud the music was.

I was put in a different room than what I paid for because I had my dog (a 10 pound, non shedding pomapoo), and the room was unfortunately dingy and unkempt. I don’t know if maybe they don’t put as much quality care into the rooms on the pet floor, or if every room is like that, I can only speak to the room I was in. The room overall felt dirty. There was human hair all over the place from the beds to the tub. The toilet seat was broken. The outlet between the beds was coming out of the wall, literally just dangling there. The lamp covers were either broken or just didn’t fit b/c they were also just hanging off the lamps. The tub was not clean enough to feel comfortable taking a shower. I only spotted 1 bug in my room, so I guess that wasn’t too bad considering. The building itself like the hallways and elevators seemed old and grimy. I was grateful to be just a 10 minute drive from the hospital (my reason for being in the area), but I wouldn’t stay there again.

They renovated the rooms but didn't bother updating the shower/tub from the 1960s. The heater from the 1980s kicks on in the middle of the night and sounds like a blast furnace. We payed extra for a room described as "mountain view". It was a view of the side of a hill. It should have been called "Noisy boulevard view" since semi trucks and sirens start going up and down the road outside the window at the crack of dawn.

All the exterior doors were unlocked It was unsafe The elevator was filthy The floors by the elevator were filthy there was a bunch of dead bugs by the cooler area by the elevator as you go into the room it looks clean but as you look at around the bed it's filthy around the bed by the wall is filthy there's dead bugs on top of the cooler we stayed in this hotel for 5 days and when they did come into the room all they did was make the bed and wipe off the top of the dresser area they would slap some new towels on the counter in the bathroom around the toilet is filthy there was urine on the toilet that never got wiped up The sink interior never got wiped out The floor never got swept or mopped in the room the little table next to the chairs in the corner of the room never got wiped off The body wash in the shower emptied and they never filled it there was what looked like a feces stain on the couch in the corner of the room that took us three times of telling them about it for them to get it cleaned up on the bed skirt on the side of the bed skirt there bodily fluid on the bed skirt and as we checked out we told the guy at the counter at the front desk about it and he did not apologize he did not offer money off of the room or anything and he rolled his eyes at us

The interstate is very close by, so traffic noise was an issue. Otherwise, the room was clean, comfortable, and service was great. The morning breakfast server went over and above to make our breakfast.

I would not pay for the breakfast again. For $12 I can get better hot food at the dirty Waffle House across the street.

The beds are hard and noisy. Housekeeping staff doesn’t speak English. There was construction that we didn’t know about until we arrived in the middle of the night. I had a sick child who only wanted to sleep but was hard with all the noise during construction. Also continental breakfast would’ve been awesome.

Hotel was under some renovation. Dont ever plan to eat at the hotel. Breakfast was horrible. Worst I've ever seen. The rest of the hotel was as expected. The beds were very comfortable. As for cleanliness, it was fine, but I refuse to bring black lights to really inspect. I'd rather be blissfully ignorant.

Called downstairs early morning with air not working. Was told we would be contacted in regards to it within 15 minutes. No one ever came! My husband cleaned the filters that were nasty and re installed. The air began to work better. Beds were hard.

Better than my last stay in 2022. Renovations have really upgraded the hotel and it was a pleasant stay.

They took top dollar for a hotel that is under construction. Restaurant in hotel no staff, lousy food. Breakfast was way overpriced and again under staffed. Orange juice tasted like it was made with powder. They should return at least half of what I paid. There was nothing on the web site stating the conditions there.

They were working on the building so areas were closed everywhere. Blackout curtains would be nice

Hotel is currently receiving a refresh, but room was clean and great. However dont count on the resteraunt, its in need of a rehab also. Pool area is closed and under construction as well.

The Roanoke Inn at Tanglewood is undergoing a renovation so there was lots going on but the staff was helpful and friendly and the room was in its usual clean and comforting condition. It’s such a convenient location to refresh with everything you could possibly need nearby.

The water takes forever to get hot.

I was not notified that the hotel was under an extensive renovation when I booked it. There was construction dust and debris in the common areas and the staff seemed disinterested. The room was clean, but the breakfast buffet had sat in the warmers way too long and was almost inedible.

We had a 2 night stay n house keeping never came in to clean. We ran out of towels n wash rags. Communication from from desk to stayers was not the best.

Building was under construction the whole time we stay thru Christmas. Noisy. One elevator was out of order. They change the floors in the rooms from carpet to laminate flooring. When some above you closes a door or drops something, it sounds like a Bonn went off. I have stayed in this hotel for over 16 years. My family lives near by so it’s been convenient during holidays. We ate dinner in the restaurant one night and the bar tender was also the waiter. Over 3 hours waiting for food and drinks. Still gave him a 20 % tip. Not his fault that the hotel was also under staffed. Sadly, I will never stay here again and if it wasn’t for my family and Christmas, I would have left after the first night.

Moved rooms 3 times due to hvac issues. Housekeeping made the bed once, no trash pick up or coffee left in the room.

Monday morning we spoke to the head of housekeeping and all she could tell us was that something like this had never happened before and that none of her staff admitted to removing our belongings; and Tonya even insinuated that we both threw away our personal belongings on purpose. It makes me wonder how nobody touched our things but yet my wife’s hair dryer moved from the sink area to the shelf in the closet next to the hotel’s hairdryer. Maybe a ghost since its Halloween? I did escalate this to the hotel GM Tracey and she stood firm with her staff and that we were just making this up. Needless to say we will never stay at an IHG property ever again.

Place was dirty. Was move to two different rooms due to poor maintenance. Staff was not friendly. Overpriced and was charged more than my booking total. Would not recommend this location. Oh, they also allowed dogs to stay there. You can tell when you enter the room. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE…

Art, the desk clerk, was as friendly as can be.

Undergoing renovations which was not disclosed beforehand. Our room was quiet but furnished and decorated reminiscent of a nun’s cell—cold and sterile. No carpet, only faux wood covering easily cleaned with a mop. We were very unimpressed. On the positive side, the shower was excellent.
