Nothing Dirty, smelled bad, bugs, mold

It was cheaper then most rooms and the restaurants near by were good. When you first get there men and creeps are staring at you. It's dirty in and outside of the rooms. That night there are places to eat near by and that was pleasant. But someone tried to get into our room. The lock was on so we were ok but unsettling. The cleanliness was not apparent the people didn't not know how to clean.

Cheap motel. Old run down, not nice area. Room and bed was ok.

Incidental cash hold is $100. Got back after a check that we didn't tear it up or smoke in the non smoking. Our particular mattress was someone's favorite, it had that will developed groove they get when someone has finally broken it in. Clean. Cheap. Helpful staff. Continental breakfast had juices, coffee, bread/toast, and bite size muffins; that's all.

Everything was great on the property it’s just the hot water wasn’t hot enough it was like warm turned cold!!!!

This was overall a great little affordable hotel to stay in keeping it under $100. The outside looks a little rundown but the room was great! It was spacious and everything worked. No issues at all and no weird smells or anything. I would stay here again for sure and it’s close to downtown and Elmwood park for going to a show. Thanks guys!

I am ashamed to say and yet I feel it very necessary that people are told about this place and I know that this probably will be swept under the rug but definitely shouldn't be, but that place has bedbugs and when I said something to the owner about it, he got upset and tried to blame me for smoking in the room on a bed that I never slept in, because there were 2 beds in the room and refused to return my 100.00 deposit, and I called to get help on the matter but they were more worried about me filing a civil suit than they were people health, I am very disappointed and I know I should try to go to court about this but I am so disappointed, I have never experienced anything like this in my life, I don't know what if anything will be done about this, but something must be done and I have to assume that they don't get the complaints because of the large amount of drug activity, but id hate for a child to experience what I did, I liberally have one crawl in my eye, scared to go to the doctor

I really like that they have comfort height commodes. Please correct the accessibility statement that the property is on a single floor. We were lucky to get a first floor room because we are accessibility challenged and wouldn’t have been able to get up the stairs. It should show no elevator so people will know to make a special request.

Great stay overall! The hotel is quiet and very clean, which made it easy to relax after a long day. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the price was very affordable for what you get. Even though there’s no elevator, everything else more than makes up for it.

We stayed at this place three years ago and then last week. It has gone downhill. First of all the lobby just reeks of Indian food. The room also smelled bad. Yes, it’s cheap, but there are other options around. Will not be back.

Not very close to the old downtown, and like all Econolodge's, a bit run down. Staff was friendly and professional, and we passed a very quiet evening. (Being next to a cemetery probably helped.....:) Room was clean and bed was comfortable!

Road noise from cars is very high around the clock.

We had a really quick stop here in the middle of an road trip. We arrived at midnight and left early in the morning. This place was perfect for this. Clean, affordable and comfortable, we felt very rested to get back on the road.

This place was terrible. Expedia showed a rating of 8.6 which was absolutely way too high. Closer to a 4.0. The place is run down and needing of major repairs. There was no breakfast to speak of. Only a couple of pieces of bread for you to toast and the. Food area was a mess.

The staff deliberately assigned me a room, even though they already knew that the shower and toilet were out of order—specifically because the main water valve was shut off. The faucet in the shower room didn't have a handle at all. The microwave was dirty, and some small, stone-like particles—possibly limescale—came out of the coffee machine.

The Econo Lodge is exceptionally convenient to I-581 and the Berglund Center which is directly across the road. Staff was friendly and the room was nice and clean. They offer a continental breakfast but this property is a no-frills type of accommodation. Still, the location, price point, and convenience make it a great choice when in the downtown Roanoke area. Will certainly stay again.

The outside looks a bit rough. Could definitely use some updating. The rooms were good. They were clean. Bed okay. Needs new pillows. Has a nice mini fridge with a freezer. Daughter played in a tournament at Berglund center so the location was great! The staff was nice. Continental breakfast just okay. Had working ice machine which is a plus. Most don’t anymore. Vending machines for soda. It was a decent stay.

The staff though, you can’t beat the staff, seriously a wonderful place to stay and a home away from everything else while we find our new home:)

The room was a plan. The floor was uncarpeted and very cold. The curtains were ripped to enable pulling them over the lock to cover the window. The tub was still draining when we checked out. For the price it was liveable.

It was a high traffic area, but the parking lot was fenced in on 3 sides and we never saw any problems. It was a continental breakfast, nothing fancy, but everything was fresh and the couple that manned the desk were "johnny-on-the-spot @ refreshing it as needed. They went out of their way to be friendly and helpful in all aspects of the stay.

We reserved a room with 1 king sized bed. We were given a room with 2 queen beds. The room next to us was empty and it had a king bed.

The location was great!! All the amenities were there and the front service was great but there were multiple spots that were not clean that was a big turn off. There were stains on the walls and chairs. Fridge had old food stains. The room was supposed to be smoke free but there was definitely a strong smell and pretty obvious it wasn’t cleaned throughly. If and that aside, it had potential to be a very comfortable stay!!

I entered the room with a foul odor, trash left behind from others just under the table and the primary light burned out. It’s noisy from the 6 lane street along side despite being as far back a possible. It’s more of a halfway house than a place for travelers making for awkward solicitations and noisy neighbors. The staff were nice though and I needed a cheap mattress to sleep on

They charged me $20 for having my dog, and the room smelled like an ashtray! The AC smelled of mold, drapes were torn and worn, and bed smelled like a used diaper. Glad I was only staying one night!

If I could give zero stars I would. No one there to check in when we got in around 11:30pm. We were greeted with meth heads in the parking lot. Incredibly dirty, was obviously not cleaned between guests. Smells like cigarettes and room was humid. Floors sticky. Weird drips on the walls and furniture. ROACHES! I took photos to complain at the front desk but there’s nobody there to complain to. Wish I could have my money back. I travel a LOT and this was by far the grossest room I’ve ever stayed in.

Clean. Shower was nice, and hot. Three pilliows for each bed. Right across the street from the Concert Hall.

Downtown Roanoke is just a hop skip and a jump away. The facility appears clean. The staff and guest both were friendly. Beds are comfy and they even offer a complimentary breakfast. Great service for the price.

It was an old motel. Not really well maintained. But it was quiet at the motel and they did exactly what was offered online.

Parking lot at the property was undergoing a resurfacing, which left folks scrambling for parking in a congested area. This made late-night parking difficult as folks were concerned where they could park safely.

My wife and I booked this based on an almost 8/10 review online. Also, based on the price. We didn’t even stay the night. We checked in and went to the room. The hotel is in a sketch area, is more worn down than the photos depict, has no sound proofing (I.e. hearing every vehicle, siren, yelling, gunshots), the beds are terrible, the rooms have outside drafting, the bathroom ceiling is 7’, and it’s just in rough shape. In no way should this be its rating / price. We left before trying to sleep, unfortunately we paid in advance and didn’t offer a refund. For only a $25 increase in price, we chose to stay at the aVid hotel down the road, and it was a step into straight luxury. This hotel is not worth its cost and not worth its rating. Try something for $25-$40 more.

Love this hotel. I have had to stay there quite a bit the past couple months. My granddaughter has been in Carillion Hospital for kidney cancer an this hitel has made things really easy for my stays here. Their price is affordable an the hotel rooms are extremely nice. Staff is awesome. That will be the only hotel i stay at when i come here unless their sold out.

Stayed here while taking the VA Bar Exam. It was convenient, clean, and comfortable.

Room was not very clean. Little trash on floors. Stains on walls and doors. Also, I had my cat and was told by front desk staff that I would have to change rooms after 4 or 5 days because of the cleanliness. Mind you, the room was cleaner once I cleaned and sanitized it even with the cat. I was staying for a work assignment. It seems that there are many people who actually live on the property.

Owners are super nice. Facility is a bit run down, but the beds are fantastic. Unusually comfortable for a Motel.

The owner would not let me eat my included breakfast in my room. I did not get to eat breakfast and was then hungry when I had to drive home. He personally followed me half way to my room, and upset me. It caused my blood pressure to jack up from the traumatic experience of him following me to my room!

My own mistake was not checking if this hotel had an elevator, but nice lady who had came into office to get a working remote helped me carry my bag up the stairs as I have many health issues that making stairs hard just getting myself up let alone carrying a bag up too. First room had a person staying next door that was smoking outside the rooms which the Air Conditioning was pulling into my room, so I called the front desk and lovely young man was able to move me to another room. Overall okay place to stay with helpful staff .

The rooms were normal, but clean and pleasant. The proprietor has very helpful, letting us leave bags there for the afternoon.

The staff was nice. The room was run down. The mattress had a big stain on it and It was dirty in between them. Breakfast was very limited - Bagel and dry cereal. The area did not ‘feel’ safe. To just sleep for the night, it did the job.

The amenities in the room would have been better than average, if they had worked correctly. The refrigerator was larger than average and included a freezer. The microwave worked, but the timer was broken. The air conditioner was very noisy. It was beyond control of the property that it was on a busy road and noisy roadworks were underway at night. It is pet friendly and we were able to bring our beagle on the trip.

The room stunk. And then when we went to the office they was 3 cops and van there loading a bunch up. I left and stayed in a different hotel bc I wasn’t feeling safe enough to stay there with my son. Also when you lift the mattress big pee stain. So no way I was staying there or ever telling someone to stay there.

I was very pleased. Daman was friendly and helpful at front desk. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Location (Civic Center for Conference) was ideal. Room was clean and comfortable. I will definitely stay there again when in Roanoke.

Strong smell of smoke

It was nice for a brief one night stay.

Very good for the price. Very accommodating and they let me have my dog with me for an extra fee of $20. I would recommend for the thrifty person that needs a nice place to stay.

The room was fine, but there was night construction on the street in front. I checked in at night alone and the guests were loud and attempting to talk to me. The noise could be heard all night within the room. I was warned by a rideshare driver that this was a sketchy part of town and to be careful of people in this area. You definitely get what you pay for.

I paid for a smoking room and paid extra for it to find out on check-in that one was not available. I was still charged the smoking room rate. The TV would not work at all.The room was decent and appeared clean, but your bare feet were very dirty after walking on the floor. Staff was pleasant.

The staff was super friendly and gave great suggestions for local restaurants. This is the closest hotel to the Berlin’s Center and is walkable. The room was adequate and clean. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because after dark there were groups of men hanging around outside the hotel. As a single female traveler, that is a little unsettling.

We were traveling and had a late night 2am check in. Motel was cheap so wasn’t expecting much and only needed a place to get a few hours sleep. The check in staff was very kind. But unfortunately our bathroom had two cockroaches in it upon arrival and felt unclean to the point where we couldn’t shower. It was late with kids so we sucked it up but woke up to someone creepily honking and driving around motel at 4am. I began to feel uncomfortable. Drifted back to sleep and reawakened to someone arguing outside our window about their dog. We left asap!

Check in was fine. The clerk was nice, but thats all that was good about this hotel. The entire facility was rundown and in need of some serious renovations. The room smelled terrible, even after the clerk grabbed his can of air freshener and went and sprayed the room while I was checking in. There was black mold all throughout the room and bathroom. There were used syringes scattered all over the parking lot. Stayed here because it was cheap and I was on a budget, but my recommendation is to spend just a bit more for somewhere thats at least halfway decent.

the electric switch plate between the double beds was broken which exposed interior outlet pieces. Escutcheon for shower head and bath faucet had 1/2 inch gap from the wall. Wall area behind water controls appeared sunken in not flush with rest of the wall. Room door had broken safety chain and lock. Sewer gas emmission from sink and bath drains. ceiling repairs flush with rest of ceiling possible signs of earlier flood issues.

Spray a little Clorox in the shower area.

Nice updated room

The family in charge is very kind and welcoming. We had no problems during our stay and this is our second time staying. The rooms are surprisingly nice and look just like the pictures. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, and super convenient to all things in Roanoke. Definitely where we're staying from now on

Overall the facility met our immediate needs, which was reasonable price and good condition. The bed was adequately comfortable and the linens were clean. However the facility was old and in need of fresh paint and mopping of the room floor. Again, the hotel fit our needs for a quick overnight stay, and I do recommend it to budget aware folks.
