    The Marriott Hotel in downtown Richmond is in an excellent location to visit the city and take in its history and culture. This is an older property and it does occasionally show its age at times. We did find the staff to be very helpful in addressing and resolving any issues that arose. They made our stay very pleasant and we would definitely return there.

    The rooms were clean. Any request we made was attended too. The breakfast in the VIP lounge was fairly good. The only one negative thing I can say about the place negatively was on Sunday morning. The VIP lounge was not stocked, and breakfast, which was supposed to be available at 7am, was not quite available at that time and there were several conferences starting early that morning in which hotel guests were attending. At 8:30, some of the drink items were still not stocked.

    Good proximity to restaurants and the convention center, beds were comfy and room was clean The room was very small and I think their queen beds are actually fulls. Our heat was broken and they put us right by the elevator bank so we could hear the elevators moving all night. The lobby restroom was also very dirty, with clogged toilets and ran out of TP. There was also no one at the front desk when we tried to check out.

    Breakfast should be free to all guests. I don’t know if I’ll like the buffet items so I shouldn’t have to pay $22 for it. At least offer bagels and cereal and if you don’t offer free breakfast add a microwave to the room

    Great staff! Excellent service. I requested a room with ADA Accommodations. The hand bars were in the bathroom but there was a heavy seat that had to be put into the standard tub by me. When I put it in the shower curtain no longer worked so all the water from shower ran out onto the bathroom floor, which I had to towel up. So, that seat is pretty worthless to a person with mobility issues like me. Also, there were no instructions for the thermostat.

I’d did not get a notification that my room was ready until 9:30pm for an event that started at 6pm. I ended up parking 2 blocks away and changing in the car. Highly disappointed!

    The stay was great. The amenities were not aligned with what is on the website. There was a pool listed with spa. I asked the front desk personal and they said it hasn't been available since covid. Also the day I arrived there was some type of wedding going on and most guest were on the 18th floor. all the decorations they has on their garments (small tiny items and shiny strings) were all over the floor. The staff did not vacuum the floor at all the entire week I was there. And yet for some amazing reason, your staff has gone above and beyond everywhere else.

    The only thing I had an issue with was parking. Valet was offered and a private parking garage. The hotel should work with the patking garage owners to have a flat fee for hotel guests. I had to pay $18 twice for less than 30 minutes each time.

    The room was nice and the aesthetic of the hotel was very nice. The fact that I had to wait for 45 minutes for my reservation to be found even though I provided a confirmation number. I was ready to go to go to my room and had no choice but to wait. "The system had to be updated" If they are going to participate with Booking.com, the transfer of information should be seamless.

    It was conveniently located near the venue our concert was at. But the cost of parking was a bit of a downside. Parking for a weekend costed $60. Indications that the room hadn’t been vacuumed fully before our arrival. We were also told by multiple locals to not drink the tap water or brush our teeth with it but hotel staff never mentioned it.

    Great location, clean and quiet. Loved having a Starbucks in the lobby! Parking is either very expensive or a pain to get. If you pay for valet parking know they will park your car on the top of the garage in full sun, save the money and self park! The bellman wasn’t very helpful and was rushing me to unload and move my car once he realized he wasn’t getting a tip as I didn’t need his services.

    Me and my fiancé stayed a night here as we went to see a show at the local amphitheater, hotel was beautiful and staff were very helpful, however after the fact I come to find out that the hotel had charged me alittle over $700 on 2 separate charges. The lot is attached to the hotel but isnt affiliated with Marriott. 24 USD for a 2 hour parking is ridiculous and overpriced. Otherwise, the Marriott Downtown Richmond was awesome. Super friendly staff and Lucia is a great cleaning lady, super nice and a great worker.

    The property is great, and the staff is excellent. However, there is no area on the guest room floors that feels refreshing due to issues with the HVAC system. I had my AC set to 66 degrees, yet the room never cooled below 72 degrees, making it uncomfortably warm. Outside of the air conditioning concerns, the property itself is decent.

    I initially made a reservation via Expedia only to receive an email that I needed to call the property and confirm my reservation. When the property was called, I was told I had no reservation. I re-booked with Expedia only to discover that the property found my original reservation, then would not allow me to cancel either without paying a fee. The whole place is run by incompetent individuals who are exceptionally rude to customers. I will never stay here again and will lodge complaints with corporate.

    We were excited to have MClub privileges however, it seemed that EVERYONE had access and jumped on the few hors d'oeuvres that were available. Most guests just ordered food from Valentino's which was delicious and highly recommended.The free water in the MClub came in handy since it was about 100 degrees with extreme humidity. The service was extremely accomodating, giving us late checkout since my husband was feeling ill. We are Bonvoy members so that may have something to do with it. The room was standard king with pullout sofa, nothing extra special. Our first night, the shower had only scalding hot water from the main showerhead. We were able to use the wand to adjust the water temperature without burning ourselves. Once we figured that out, it was a wonderful, clean shower. The next day it was much better. Overall, it was a decent hotel that I would stay at again mainly because I know what I'm getting ahead of time. I felt safe and there were no bedbugs.

    My family had a great stay at the Richmond Marriott! The parking garage located at E. Marshall and 5th St connects to the hotel via breezeway and is centrally located close to the amenities of downtown. The M Club Lounge in the lobby was a wonderful perk that we enjoyed very much!

    When I got out of the shower, the first towel I grabbed, after I unfolded it, found it to be covered in vomit. I called downstairs, and received MP pass and 5000 in Marriott awards. My entire stay should have been free after finding a vomit covered towel. And BTW, having MP pass, gave me a free breakfast, that every other Marriott does for free, anyway. Not a big deal. Actually ridiculous. And every single housekeeper I tried to talk to, didn’t speak a word of English. Illegals. You hire illegals. That’s against the law. I was nice about all this, because I had already paid to stay there. Never again.

    My room was comfortable, but it would have been helpful to have been informed that my room was ready as requested. Lots going on due to graduations and proms. Parking was not easily accessible for a senior citizen and valet parking cost was not suitable for my budget.     We booked this stay in February for a king room. When we arrived, we were informed that there were no king rooms available. This was our first trip since my husband was diagnosed and started treatment for cancer, so this was a little disappointing. The television would only play the welcome to Marriott and no amount of pushing the buttons on the remote would make it do anything other than turn on, off and play the welcome to Marriott. On the positive side, the room was clean and comfortable. I only visited the Starbucks, so I cannot comment on the restaurant.

    During our recent stay at the Marriott, we experienced an incredibly dissatisfying and disappointing series of events. Despite arriving well after the official check-in time, our room was still not ready, forcing us to wait unnecessarily. When we expressed our frustration, the front desk clerk attempted to offer an alternate room, but it had smaller beds and did not meet our original reservation requirements. In an effort to make amends, Marriott provided a complimentary appetizer at the on-site restaurant, yet even that gesture fell flat when the restaurant staff failed to seat us despite the space being nearly empty. To top it off, once we finally got into our room, we discovered there was no remote control for the TV. The combination of these issues made for a thoroughly disappointing experience that fell far below Marriott’s usual standards.

    This was incredibly frustrating, especially after a long day of travel. There was no clear communication about why the delay occurred, and no effort was made to provide adequate compensation or a sincere apology for the inconvenience. Waiting this long for a room is completely unacceptable for a hotel that markets itself as a premium establishment. I expected much better service and organization from the Richmond Marriott. Unfortunately, this experience has left me hesitant to stay here again or recommend this hotel to others.
