La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Richmond South

The room was typical for a hotel and the bed was not the comfiest. But the reason I am giving 5 stars is I left my expensive wireless earbuds in the room. I didn't even notice they were missing when the hotel called me an hour or so after I checked out. They walked me through how I can ship them back to me and were very accommodating and responsive in this stressful time. Big props for the cleaning staff for grabbing them, and the front desk for communicating with me. Having them be this helpful even after checking out is above and beyond.

Old hotel bed hard as rock

OK, so first the room is very very clean. The staff is firmly Ish however they use Fabulosa to clean their building and the entire building was overwhelmed with the smell of fabulous so and if you were somebody who has an allergy or respiratory issue, please be aware that this could trigger it. That’s the only reason I’m given at the reading I give it because we had to leave after an hour we couldn’t tolerate it. It triggered my asthma.

We have stayed at many La Quinta's as we have small dogs. Some are newer and clean and nice, and some are disgusting. This one has some upgrades to an old building. Everything was ok, although the paint and corners of the room were not great. The plugs worked the tv worked the refrigerator worked and it was clean. We were very happy with this location as we had just left a gross and overpriced La Quinta the day before in Charleston, SC. This location is $25 for pets which was very much appreciated. The desk clerk was nice and helpful. The breakfast is never great here, the usual fake eggs, etc.; but gets you something in your stomach.

There were paper towels stuffed in the area about the air conditioner and also paper towels stuffed in a hole above the mirror. The worst part was that there was no hot water in the shower.

I probably would not stay at this hotel again. It was too far from my daily stop. The vending was unavailable on 3 rd floor. Elevator was creepy and floors and corners of main floor dirty. Bed was comfortable. Much needed.

Perfect for a one night stay while traveling. Comfortable and clean room, friendly staff, pet friendly without exorbitant fees. Breakfast was typical for continental with warm options (waffle maker, egg, sausage patties, cereal, fruit, yogurt, english m I fins, muffins). Would stay again.

Front desk was short and rude! Not helpful. Bed was good. Room was old and needed updating.

Room was extremely dated and run down. Ripped window coverings and badly worn furniture , sticky trap in the bathroom added to the overall bad vibe. Also, the smell /use of room freshener was overwhelming. Big boxes stacked in the lobby looked terrible. Front desk person at late afternoon check in was friendly and efficient.

Clean room, nice staff, solid breakfast. I stayed for a soccer tournament and this was ideal for a stay where you’re not spending a lot of time in the room.

My biggest issue was with the condition of the property. In the room, many things were damaged and worn. Half the closet door was missing, doors and furniture need replacing, painting is needed in many areas of the place, water pressure was low and water was not hot enough. Beds were comfortable and the breakfast was acceptable.

It is close to richmond inner city which is why we were in town. There is gas, fast food, and parks near by that are worth a visit. Right off the high way it is easy to get to and overall feels pretty safe. First. The hotel doesnt have enough parking for visitors, or even their staff for that matter. After arriving back at the hotel around 11 pm. The entire lot was full when we asked where to park the attendant said to park on the side of a road that very clearly had a no parking sign posted. The only other option was the business behind the hotel which is some car repair place. When we asked about parking there she said we would definitely be towed. She herself was parked right infort of the entrance to the hotel because there was no parking. Also there is a car for sale in the parking lot thats clearly been there for a while and they havnt had to towed away. The tub inside room was nice however had clearly been painted over as it was chipping and peeling. The tub in the bathroom and the jet tub used the same drain stopper so i had to move it a few times which was just weird and also made it so the jet tub was hard to drain stop. A hole in the closet door, ripped curtains that were also stained with something black. The yellow and dark blue or black walls make the space feel like a dungeon. The bed was hard as a rock mostly just spring board with a metal frame underneath which made it feel like sleeping on a camping cot. The sheets and linens were clean which was a plus. Breakfast was what you expect from a hotel the same thing every morning. The breakfast bar area was well kept and clean. For the price I paid i expected more quality even on the edge of richmond a large city. Ive stayed at this chain of hotel before mostly on beach trips and had a great time however this one has made me want to look at other places, especially with a comfort in across the street for almost 100 dollars cheaper for my weekend trip.

Clean room but very loud bed. Everytime i moved the noise woke me up. It was a metal base that would make a loud pop.

I liked the location and the rooms were spacious Parking was limited especially since it was overbooked while we were there. Breakfast could have been a lot better, it was the same for all 3 days boiled eggs, French toast sticks and sausage. Mattress was a lot firmer than I’m used to had to adjust to it.

The hotel was remodeled from an old building. Some of the rooms have obvious signs of patchwork, and others have signs of broken walls and doors. The rooms and bed amenities are clean, but the beds are squeaky. The gym is extremely small, and the free breakfast includes hot items like boiled eggs, sausages, and toasts/waffles.

The staff was very friendly. It was a convenient location for what we needed to do.

The convenience of Highway 95 and close to my family. I stay here occasionally when I’m visiting. The breakfast is pretty decent and the service is great. I didn’t bring my fur ball this time but love that it’s pet friendly. I have stayed here before but this time I was given a room that needs a complete make over. From the couch to AC unit. It also needs a thorough cleaning. I probably should have score this visit lower but I know there are better rooms than this one on site from previous visits.

I booked this trip for work later on in the week. The only thing good about it was its location. When I arrived the lobby was nice. However, when I reached to my room I noticed that the elevator made a noise when the door opened as though there was a cable loose and was going taut every time the door opened, there were pry bar marks on multiple doors including my own indicating forced entry, there were fingernail clippings in the recliner, mud and dirt in the office chair, the refrigerator had a hole in it towards the top of the door, the shower curtain rod have been ripped off the wall multiple times and had not been replaced properly, the sheets and replacement sheets I asked for both had cigarette and cigar Burns on them, there was hair in the bathroom tub, and the drain for the bathtub was chipped and broken as well as the seal around the tub itself was peeling away from the wall, I stopped looking for things to find. After that I must have took at least 12 pictures. I will never stay at Wyndham again.

For a handicap room requested the bed was very high and difficult to get into.

The whole hotel is much better than most. It’s modern, the gym is a little bigger than most, the pool actually looked nice. The room was spacious, spotless and comfortable with no smell. The climate control worked without too much noise or too much direct air blowing. Loved it.

Lobby was empty and two receptionists there. The lady was worry because she was thinking too much abput how to get out of there and the gentleman was just smiling. No one say hi or “i will be with ypu soon”. Finally, the guy acknowledged me and the check in was fast. Room was big, clean. It needs repairs in the bathtub and new furniture. There was a beep constantly during the whole noght and I could not find from where it came.

The elevator dmelled like a skunk (really) The bathroom sink faucet sprayed water all over the place when you tutned it on and we had a cold shower. We were in room 212.BREAKFAST did not include scrambled eggs. We will not be back.

The hotel is older than it seems online and was worn. The bed made a metal crashing sound every time you rolled over or stood up. Noisy all night in the hallway and outside.

Everything was good and clean. The breakfast was excellent. Our dog was able to stay with us which was a plus! The only thing I didn’t like was that the room’s AC was loud so it was a bit noisy for a good night sleep. We were only there for a night so it wasn’t that bad!

Same room as the last time when I had very hot water. This time lukewarm was the best I could get. Also, the same piece of toilet paper or tissue that was caught on the leg of the bathroom sink last week was still there this time. A bit more attention to cleaning would be useful.

We paid almost $150 for one night but got the Super 8 experience here. We could smell the mold in the room and everything was dirty and outdated. I don't recommend it to anyone and will never book again.

We were told the hotel was under construction, but that was a positive aspect, because we could crack a window open. Had to change the room 2 times because of the old AC and moldy smell. They had the air purifier standing in a hallway, and when I asked if I could borrow it for my room because it was moldy, they said no. But at least they didn’t refuse to move us. Otherwise the rooms were clean and everything else was ok.

Room was ultra clean, including the bathroom. Bed was very hard so my back was not happy but one night was tolerable. Breakfast was ample and well stocked. When I went to leave, lady at desk said "are you checking out? Just throw your key in there" And she gestured to the basket on the counter. Again, no smile or asking if I had been comfortable, etc. She just disappeared into a back room.

Room was ultra clean, including the bathroom. Bed was very hard so my back was not happy but one night was tolerable. Breakfast was ample and well stocked. When I went to leave, lady at desk said "are you checking out? Just throw your key in there" And she gestured to the basket on the counter. Again, no smile or asking if I had been comfortable, etc. She just disappeared into a back room.

Possibly the worst beds ever. Mold in the bathroom. Just dirty in halls/lobby in general. The staff was very nice though.

I’ve always had good experiences at La Quinta but this hotel was terrible! I can look past it being old and outdated but there are unpatched holes in the walls, room smelled like old smoke, AC barely worked, large 1.5” gap under room door, bathroom sink didn’t drain and would were playing music at 1am.

The room we got with our dog was dirty, dusty, patches and holes in the walls. The lock on door looked like it had been broken into before. The lobby area looked nice, the front desk man was very nice but the room needed a major cleaning and repair.

Breakfast ready by 6 AM, so we could get back on the road. It was great. Plenty of hot and cold and tasty choices. Microwave in room. A little bit showing age, but nice towels and hot water. No complaints for price and stop from Philly to GA.

The people here were very nice, the room was average. The flooring was nice, the bed was nice, sheets and comforter were very clean. Some of the furnishings and paint was a bit dated. A couple of the lights were so bright white (need a softer tone) it was annoying. Great TV, decent channels. This room (103) was the strangest layout I have ever seen at a hotel, but I was there to sleep. Breakfast looked good, but didn't have anything. I think for what I got, I overpayed...but if I had the need to stay again in the area, I would go there again...just not this room.

Nothing to like about this Laquinta, the place is absolutely filthy. It should be reported to the health department. The only reason i stay was becsuse it was late and i was exhausted plus i have a dog.Not a good place. I'm requesting a refund.

I arrived at the Hotel hours before check in with no where to go. I asked the gentleman inside would I be able to check in early and was told that the Hotel doesn't have early check in. I had to sit in the parking lot for 4 1/2 hours to check in. I was very upset and my two sons was also.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. They are pet friendly in that the pet fee is a lot less than many other hotels in the area. The hotel is right off the road and there is minimal space to walk dogs but poop bags are nicely provided. The one negative was the "breakfast rules." Pets are not permitted in the breakfast area, which makes sense however, food is not permitted outside the breakfast area. So, if I am traveling with my dog, and I can't bring my dog to where the food is yet I can't bring food to my room, then I cannot enjoy the free breakfast. Maybe the creation of an area for customers to eat with their pets or allow food to be brought to hotel rooms?

Remember, you get what you pay for. The place was just okay. No frills. I'd stay again if I'm just needing a place to crash for one night.

Would not recommend. Front desk complained of children not even a hour of being there . Rooms were dirty , no hot water . Breakfast was horrible. Definitely wouldn’t suggest bringing children here or even yourself . Oh yeah they had water bugs as well.

We were disappointed in this La Quinta. We’ve stayed in them many times and this one although relatively updated, wasn’t clean. Our bed was clean, but the bathroom faucets were dirty, and the hallway was filthy.

We had to switch rooms 3 times because it was either not cleaned well or smelled of cigarette smoke. The breakfast was not great, except for the waffles. The beds were so hard my back was in pain.

This is probably one of the worst La quintas I’ve ever stayed at. The room was dirty, smelled of smoke (even though it was non smoking), the couch was broken, there was sticky stuff on the floor. I couldn’t get the heating/cooling system to do ANYTHING, not cool or heat. Oh, and if that’s not bad enough, it is LOUD! You hear EVERYTHING! I did not sleep at all!

Room had strange layout and you had to step up to get in. Walls were paper thin and could hear everyone around me.

The place very dirty and the room very dirty the chair broke I made a complaint last night for full refund to my credit card if not I’ll make a case with my credit company..

Our door was broken the first night and we didn’t know. My family was in there and the door was unlock all night. When we got back they moved us down the hall but animals was near us and I don’t like animals and our new room was dirty too. Overall bad experience

Property could stand some improvements. the air conditioning unit was missing some of the controls and info on how to turn it up or down. and the closet doors were difficult to close with clothes in it.

Beds were comfy, room was clean, allowed our puppy to travel with us. Service was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Excellent staff. Had to extend our stay and they made it seamless. Good breakfast. Better than the Wingate we stayed at the weekend before in Blacksburg. Room was clean. A little outdated, but in good shape. Could use a new showerhead. Only real bummer was the outside noise. Our room was in the front of the hotel on the top floor and we could hear parking lot conversations, the highway, and the loud speaker announcements from the flea market across the street starting at 7 am Saturday amd Sunday. Otherwise, close to food and stores and worked out well for our trip.

Repairs needed in the room, the curtain holes, and especially the bathroom. Rust, missing wall parts, and grime buildup.

The breakfast was okay.

We was in town for a wedding so the stay was nice. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly. The room was fine and the breakfast was actually pretty good 👍
