Other than our key not working after going to the front desk 3xs everything was fine. The breakfast was nothing to write home about but better than standard. The people in the hotel were very respectful as were the staff. The room was clean and smelled neutral. Pool was old and outdated. But it was fine for the kids.

It was very clean, and the breakfast was great. I was in town for Pride Lit Con, so it was a great place for an overnight stay.

We have stayed at this hotel several times when visiting richmond. We have always founded to be very clean, comfortable, and we absolutely love the pressure in the showers. The staff has been very friendly and the breakfast was adequate. It’s a great location and I highly recommend it.

During check-in, I happened to overhear the receptionist explaining government rates and ID requirements to the guest ahead of me. As a government civilian employee, I asked—mostly out of curiosity—whether any such rates or considerations might apply in my case, while also noting that I had booked through Expedia and understood if they did not. The response I received left me somewhat uncomfortable. I was told there has been abuse of government ID usage and that stricter enforcement may be coming. While I understand and respect the need for policies and preventing misuse, the tone of the interaction made me feel as though my inquiry was being viewed with suspicion rather than as a simple question. This was a personal trip, and I was not attempting to improperly seek benefits—only asking for clarification. To be fair, the receptionist remained generally polite throughout the interaction, and I completed check-in without issue. However, the exchange left me disappointed, as the manner in which it was communicated felt unnecessarily dismissive.

Booked a double queen room for one night for a friend's wedding, requested early check in because we needed time to get ready. They didn't have it available which was fine. Asked if we could switch the type of room if something else was available. The lady at the desk (didn't catch her name, she has blonde hair) was able and happily willing to accommodate that, and it allowed her to help someone else out too. Worked perfectly and we were so grateful she was able to help! Room was clean, quiet except a dog barking in the hall in the morning (not the hotel's fault) and some riff raff in the parking lot (also not the hotel's fault- it's next to a gas station and another hotel), breakfast was good. Overall, it was a good experience. The beds really are not comfortable. We were both in our 30s and woke up feeling like we were run over by trucks. But it was a quick trip and this hotel met all the convenience needs.

They gave me room that hadn't been cleaned at all. Inside the room was a filthy very bad that even had a chunk of ear wax on it. Both trash cans in the room were full and the one in the bathroom had used female hygiene products.

Great for business travel

Free parking a plus. Breakfast was good. Staff helpful and friendly. Convenient for us for whatever we wanted to visit. Easy off and on interstate I would recommend this hotel to people visiting places in Richmond.

When i entered my room, it smelled like fryer grease. Someone enjoyed cooking in the room. Bathroom towels were stained. Chair had food wiped on it. Oh well.

Everything about the hotel was great! There were two areas of concern, the pillows just were not comfortable in the water pressure in the shower was nearly nothing. But those are minor and everything was great!

From the time we came through the entrance that night, the front desk person was kind, professional and smiled. That means a lot when you're tired from a long drive/ride. There were also lots of snacks to purchase in the lobby, free hot breakfast in the morning and the Holiday Inn was close to a gas station as well as close to restaurants and the main highway. Our beds and pillows were very comfy. The temperature controls worked perfectly and were adjustable. I love that the shower head was adjustable and the water temperature was great for soothing a tired body. Check out was a great 12:00, so if you made it down for breakfast, you still had time to get a little more shut-eye before checking out. The staff person at front desk on our departure was also very pleasant and professional and cleaning staff were quiet as they went from room to room.

While the rooms looked a little outdated, the beds were comfy, the pillows were great, and most importantly, the room was clean. The breakfast was typical, but tasty. Holiday Inn Expresses are quickly becoming one of my favorite places to stay!

Staff was great. Access to hotel a bit confusing, through a Sheetz parking lot. Drain in bathroom sink was slow. Elevator broke, but was quickly repaired. Not a bad hotel, but a bit too expensive for the quality, in my opinion.

I always stay at this Holiday Inn when visiting Henrico. The staff is friendly when checking in and helpful when something is needed. Rooms are clean. The breakfast buffet has a nice selection. Plenty to do in the area.

The staff member was very rude and arrogant. From the moment I checked in, I felt unwelcome and even considered canceling my booking. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism and unwillingness to address complaints significantly affected my stay.

This place was very clean as well as our room. Our toilet tank was not flushing right and would fill up and overflow. They did come in and replaced the handle which helped but did overflow again after it was fixed during the night. We had to use every towel and they did not come in and clean the room and clean up the towels after we cleaned up the water. I thought the price for a Holiday Inn was a little pricey.

The coffee machines were frustrating because they were slow to brew coffee one cup at a time for a very busy breakfast room. One person would take up both machines and a line starts to form for people just needing coffee.

There was a note in the elevator that both of their ice machines were broken and you could go to a hotel nearby if you wanted ice.

Accidentally booked this room in Richmond but wanted one in Charlottesville. The two hotels are owned by the same company but Brian, the front desk clerk, refused to let us move the reservation to Charlottesville. Pathetic. Practically begged but “no”. Expedia was willing but not the hotel.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean and comfortable lobby. Rooms need new sheets, comforters, and shower curtains as there were holes in each and stains in the comforter - they need to replace the items showing that much wear and tear.

They need to mind their own business! I left my dog in the car for a brief period with food and water. The outside temp was 30. The car is his home and he was protecting it. Some people had to complain as they approached the vehicle and he barked. Don’t stay there with a pet !!!

Overall everything was great but the new coffee machines are slow and there is often a line. Also there is no option for half and half coffee other than making a cup of each and mixing.

Over top of the bathroom ceiling was a very loud, vibrating machine. So loud that I couldn't sleep. Don't know if all rooms are like that, but room 413 is. DO NOT stay in that room!!!! 2 nights, $340 dollars!!! Overpriced and terrible!!!

I had to ask for clean towels because no one ever came in to clean. The third day someone at the front desk had made a note to have it cleaned but when I got back that night no one had been in. I don’t drink the coffee in the room - if I had I would have been out of luck after day 1. I don’t eat the free breakfast or ask for the sheets to be changed. I just would have liked some clean towels!!!! I’m wondering if your cleaning staff isn’t showing up because they’re afraid of an ICE raid. It’s really a shame. Definitely different from the other times I’ve stayed there.

The room was clean. The shower was the most memorable part of the stay. It was phenomenal! The water pressure was just right with generous flow, no stinging small streams. I didn't have much time at this location, just in and out but I do recall the breakfast was well done.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a serious complaint regarding an extremely upsetting and discriminatory incident that occurred during my stay on October 26, 2025. One of your employees, Brian, called the police on my family and me — a group of people of color — for absolutely no reason. We were simply standing outside the hotel, which three of us had paid for, when he decided to accuse us of being in a “domestic dispute.” None of us are in a relationship; we are family. When the police arrived, even they were confused as to why they had been called. It was humiliating, unnecessary, and deeply offensive. To make things worse, Brian added false accusations to our reservation notes, as the morning staff later informed us. He also falsely claimed that there were multiple noise complaints from three different rooms on our floor — even though camera footage and door logs would clearly show that we hadn’t been in the building for hours. We were actually at the hospital, waiting for heartbreaking news about the passing of a loved one. For Brian to treat us this way during such an emotional time was cruel, racially motivated, and completely unacceptable. I am furious, hurt, and demanding accountability. I fully intend to press charges, escalate this issue to corporate, and expect a formal investigation into Brian’s actions and how this situation was handled. This was racial profiling and a gross abuse of authority — no paying guest should ever be treated this way.

I had some issues with the air conditioner not working properly, and they immediately let me move my room and even let me pick some free snacks for my trouble.

Perfect for quick stop after dropping our son off at UR. Room was clean, shower was great, breakfast had many options and price was affordable.

The hotel itself was good. Breakfast was great! The toilets in the bathrooms of the rooms were really low to the ground - not ideal for taller and/or older people. The construction around the hotel made for limited parking especially handicap accessible spots.

The breakfast included in the price was good for this type of accommodation. A reasonable mix of hot and cold food, and the presentation of the buffet was acceptable. If you're on the road with the family, this will save you $30-$40 and an hour or so compared to eating out. We didn't use the pool, but it looked fine and was a good size. The kids would probably love it. For a utilitarian stay in the Richmond area, I can endorse this hotel.

The air conditioner made a loud rumbling noise

Not so good - refrigerator was not on and working and had no freezer, water pressure in bathroom sink was very poor, pool noise outside window at 11:00pm - male teens. We also stayed on the 3rd floor week before and the water pressure was very bad at the sink in the bathroom. Shower water pressure was fine. That refrigerator was working find and had a freezer.

Upon arrival, there was no attendant present, and I had to wait to check in. It was disappointing to see that the young lady on duty seemed to be the only staff member available, as she was busy closing the pool. Additionally, on August 9th, a male staff member later that evening told my sons to "shut up" while they were enjoying the pool, further stating that he couldn’t receive another complaint. This experience fell far short of my expectations for customer service, especially after a long five-hour drive. Throughout the day, the other staff members did not make me or my family feel welcome, as they appeared to focus more on other guests. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

They are building a gas station right beside hotel and construction started right at 8 am and very loud, not able to sleep in at all and the carpet was dirty and smells

Short Pump is a great town. This hotel was way above average. Great breakfast, great bed, great coffee. Highly recommend this hotel.

Room was very clean, staff was nice. A lot of hot food breakfast options. The pool was closed during our stay. The hotel was tucked away and in a safe, quiet area.

The room smelled of mildew and had a musty smell

Had issue with cleanliness of lobby. I arrived at 10 pm and the floors were dirt and sticky, they needed to be mopped along with the elevator floor. Other than that my stay was fine.

I love this hotel. I stayed for 4 days and it was great. The front desk staff was great. The kitchen staff was great. The items they had for breakfast every day was amazing. The only problem I had was the the house keeping staff never cleaned or did anything in my room at all. I even told the front desk and they told them to clean my room and they still didn’t do it. I had to go get fresh towels daily from the front desk staff. The day that I was leaving they came to clean my room and it seemed like they had an attitude about it. That is my only complaint about this property.

The front desk guy was rude I have never been to a hotel where they are not willing to give extra pillows.

Staff was excellent. Very nice and pleasant. Easy check in. Room very clean. Had an odd odor and I let management know. May have been the AC. Close to restaurants etc. Will be even better with sheetz being built next door. Would stay again.

Great breakfast. Great front desk staff. Clean. The pool is nice. Only downside was a rather sizable sheetz construction project making it a little bit difficult to enter and exit the property. Summer 2025.

Bad things: Internet (wifi) down most of the time and according to other guests, an ongoing issue. Crap shower heads that need cleaning from mineral build-up, no powered vent in bathroom.

We checked in July 19th at 3pm. Due to the weather we lost power facility lost power at 7pm. No AC in this heat was unbearable to sleep. We left the hotel at 8am and still no power. Very uncomfortable night

My sister and I stayed here for a night during our annual "sister trip!" We loved the room (very clean and smelled nice), the service was fantastic, and the breakfast the next morning was perfect--especially the coffee! We would absolutely stay here again!

Power was out. Did not get to use the room at all. They had no generator or any other means to relocate us.

Our stay was pretty good but on our last night the power went out and we were without power for at least 12 hours with no idea if we were goi mg to get the power back. Not amazing

It started off well but a couple hours in a thunder storm came thru and there was a power outage and there was no power for the rest of the stay and I understand that it’s out of the hotels power but I feel there should be some kind of reimbursement the hotel should give for the inconvenience

Please remember to pay attention to the door signs or lack there of. Room wasn’t cleaned even though the was no sign on the door. We were gone all day and came back to no clean room or towels.

This is our 2nd time staying here! We enjoy the cleanliness and the breakfast and also that the staff are very friendly. We will be staying here every time we travel to North Carolina.

This day was fine, I had a few ants in my room, and there was a smell coming from the plumbing

I booked a room with a king bed as I always do. After checking in and going to my room, I saw that it was a room with two queen beds. I went back to the desk and was told that is what they received from Expedia. The clerk said they did not have any king rooms available. My confirmation was for a room with a king bed. Who made the mistake?

To be fair this property is in good location and has comfortable bed. However, the rooms are not properly maintained, umpleasant odors, no hair dryer, brown water out of the faucet, no ice machine, junk breakfast to go.

Property experience water pressure for the bath room sink was very very low and that’s a negative. The refrigerator froze all items in it and it was broken to extent that if was difficult to open and close. Equally important the pillow ms on the bed was horrible totally horrible!!!

I think it started with the location .. just a tight area for the hotel but it really wasnt a problem . Second i would say the room jusy felt so so small and also the bed was hard as a brick . I stayed at this property before and dont remember the beds hard like that.... my towels was old .

The stay was amazing and even with little bumps like a broken ice machine the staff did everything to make everyone comfortable. I forgot simple things like toiletries and they had everything i needed
