Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the hotel's location and responsive staff, but have issues with maintenance and cleanliness. The hotel's theme and decor are well-liked, but the breakfast is often described as overpriced and lackluster.
- Great location
- Responsive and friendly staff
- Poor maintenance and cleanliness
- Overpriced and lackluster breakfast

Overall, fine. Parking is an issue, with your only choices being paid parking on the street or in nearby lots, or $37 a night hotel valet parking. In room amenities (coffee, water, toiletries, etc.) were the weakest I have seen similar hotels. Felt a bit nickel-and-dimey, especially considering the room rate.

Front desk staff are great

Very clean hotel, really enjoyed my birthday stay! Will definitely book again! Valet parking is definitely worth it due to location and limited street parking.
- 4/5
The rooms were clean and staff very friendly. The elevators were slow as expected with an older hotel. Bed could use to be changed out and shower could use a deep clean but all in all it was a good deal for the price.

I only have a couple complaints about this hotel. The first one is the False Advertising on the site for a 2 bedroom suite. I book a 2 bedroom suite, since I was traveling with family. But, when we go to the room, it ended up being a bunkbeds in the living room and a king size bed in the bedroom. Not exactly what I would call a 2 bedroom suite. The staff were very helpful in helping me get another room, at a reasonable price, and that room was pretty nice. My other complaint is how slow the elevators move, and that one elevator was out of service. There were many times where the line for the elevators would back up into the lobby, and take a good 15-20 min to catch an elevator to your floor. Otherwise, it was nice place with amazing staff. Good location between downtown Richmond and VCU's campus.
- 3/5
I was a little disappointed with this Hotel. The staff was wonderful and the lobby was very clean and presentable, but the room itself was lackluster. The shower had a huge crack in it, the door frame around the bathroom had rust on it, and the room itself was just mediocre. There was nothing specifically well designed about the room which you’d expect based on the rest of the hotel. Maybe one or two basic cheap picture frames with print art and that’s it. Additionally house cleaning tried to come in our room to clean before check out time which made us feel rushed. There was a fire alarm at 12am which is no one’s fault but the hotel offered no explanation afterward. Overall it’s just okay, nothing particularly special about the hotel.

The food is sllloooowwww (Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares-level slow: 40 minutes at 9:30 pm when there was no one else ordering food for a flatbread pizza) because the kitchen is on a different floor, and the elevators are the slowest I’ve ever encountered, and I travel a lot. 20 minutes waiting for an elevator is a lot. The room was tired, lots of scuffs and signs of age, and the beds were worse than a motel 6. The headboard/head of the bed was downhill from the feet, so as I was sleeping I kept waking up because it was such an uncomfortable situation, and the mattress was quite lumpy. I was there to see a show at the incredibly poorly designed/run Allianz Amphitheatre, which was too far to walk, but also didn’t really have any parking, especially for early VIP entry. If I was ever there again, I’d stay somewhere else and uber.

Be prepared to pay for parking. Worse, you have to pay for coffee in the morning.

Great hotel and staff

This is a very nice refurbished hotel property within walking distance of VCU. Beautiful rooftop bar area. The hotel is well decorated with nice amenities. Parking was slim on street, so we opted for valet. $37 plus tax per day, but nice attendants and fast retrieval of the vehicle when requested. Being a refurbished property, there were a few things which could have been a little better, i.e. elevators are very small, popcorn ceilings, tubs showers instead of the newer walk-ins, etc., but overall I would recommend it. We were able to walk to/from dinner, however a lyft/uber would probably be safer after dark. We had no issues walking, though, since it was daylight. Very nice bar in the hotel lobby with an exceptionally nice and helpful bartender made the end of the evening highly enjoyable for my husband and me.

Great place
- 5/5
The only issue I had was every time I went to use the elevator, it was always full with the cleaners and their carts. Outside of that, the place was wonderful! The rooftop bar was on point especially as the sun was setting. The bed was very comfortable and I felt very safe at this hotel. I would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
The basics are fine. Room was clean. Staff was friendly. Breakfast options, especially coffee, are overpriced (we walked to nearby cafes). We did not look at the gym or pool so we can't comment on that. The rooftop bar is nice and gives you wonderful views of the somewhat dull skyline and surface parking lots of the city.
- 4.5/5
Very friendly staff. Lovely room that was clean and well furnished. Very comfortable bed. The shower was very small. The valet parking was efficient but expensive.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Wish there was parking without Valet services. That took a little long each time I needed my car. I would rather self park.
- 5/5
Great staff. Great valet service all online so makes easy to call up car when needed. Great bar and food available.
- 5/5
Great location. Near VCU, Altria Theatre. Within walking distance of downtown and Convention Center. Lots of great restaurants also within walking distance. Beautiful property. Big rooms, clean, great mattress. Shower has great water pressure.

Quiet room and excellent service!

Great stay, awesome staff , beautiful room
- 5/5
A wonderful hotel and pleasant staff!
- 4/5
The bartender, Macy, offered us her personal Tides pen to help with a grease stain on my husband’s pants. She may have saved them from being tossed! The only reason we didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the bathroom. Although cute, the sink is too small. It’s almost impossible to wash your hands and brush your teeth without splashing water on the floor, plus there is zero counter space. The shower was awkward and the water pressure was way too low. Other than those design flaws it was perfect. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Really nice hotel in Richmond. The staff were very.nice and helpful. Our room definitely exceeded expectations from the huge sectional and super comfy king sized bed, to the 2 full bathrooms and really nice wall art. And they let us choose anything we wanted on the menu for our included breakfast.
- 2/5
Towels were dirty. Replacement towels were dirty. They have a dirty towel problem.

Staff were wonderfully helpful. I didn't eat there so I cant speak on the food.

Location and decor They don’t mention the pet fee anywhere when booking. So to have a 75$ fee sprung on you at check in was quite unpleasant.

Super good service from the first valet to the last front desk agent who checked us out. The suite was huge and ideal for a family with children as there was a bunk bed in the living room. WiFi and TV were both excellent and we felt very much at home.

Also, my 84 year old mom had to leave her room at 1 am bc the fire alarm was going off! No fire, no one knowing what was going on.

I checked in around 8 PM to a corner room and the bathroom was very dirty - hair in shower, thick pink mold along slider door, and bottom of shower was super scraped. It almost looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Told hotel staff (3 folks there) and 2 of them seemed annoyed (which I assume was more toward the cleaning crew, but less than professional). They switched my room and again, it was not very clean (again hair on the floor and in sink, pink mold but far less, very scratched shower). I was too tired at this point to bother changing rooms, though in retrospect I should have asked. The hotel staff is hit and miss in terms of customer service and friendliness. Woman working at bar was super nice and friendly. Amenities are great too. Overall I would not stay here again for the cleanliness alone.
- 5/5
We would go and stay again. The staff was very nice and helpful and very clean and had a food area you could get breakfast lunch and dinner. Or just coffee.
- 5/5
Great location. Nice rooms. Fantastic rooftop bar. Slow elevators!
- 5/5
The room was very clean and spacious, and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They made check-in quick and easy, and always greeted us whenever we came in or out. Street parking was convenient with plenty of close spots available, and the valet team was very helpful and attentive while we unloaded our luggage. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend this property to other travelers.

Nothing we couldn’t handle but there was one time that the lady cleans the room do not knocked the door just opened it. And my husband and I were just getting out the shower. Plus on 5/8/26 our second day there they changed the bed take out the trash but didn’t clean the bathroom. Not even changed the trash from that. It’s not complaint we’re just fine about it. It’s just to make sure other people not going to have the same experience.

I was there for my son's graduation from vcu and wanted to stay for mother's day night. what a disgrace ...
- 4/5
Hotel towels were an issue.
- 4/5
There was only 3 sets of towels, for a room with two queens. When the towels were replaced a bath mat was not provided so we used one of our bath towels which left us with even fewer after our showers. For the most part the hotel was friendly.
- 2/5
Everything just looked old and for the amount of money it was highly disappointing
- 1/5
THE FIRE ALARM STARTED GOING OFF AROUND MIDNIGHT AND KEPT GOING OFF!!! We made it down from the 7th floor, Firetrucks showed up and gave the all clear-only 2 of 3 elevators were working so we walked back up to the 7th floor. Settled back into bed and THE SMOKE ALARM STARTED AGAIN!! We waited it kept randomly going off so we packed up all our stuff and left. I feel we should be reimbursed from the hotel because this ruined our nieces graduation weekend memories as we didn't get to celebrate Sunday with family.
- 2/5
Poor check in. Had to wait for hours. Fire alarm went off from 12 am - 2 am.

Our key did not work with 3 trips from lobby to 4th floor. A very kind front desk worker came with us on the 3rd attempt to see what was wrong. He enlisted an unapologetic manager to finally determine that maintenance was required. I asked if we could get a drink voucher or something to compensate us for our inconvenience. She said she had "run out of drink chips."
- 4/5
I was in Richmond for a conference and the location was convenient. Parking is not included but I parked in a lot less than a block away for a reasonable cost. The design of the hotel is very cool and it seems to be staffed by students. The bar and restaurant looked very cool but I didn’t eat there.
- 1/5
The bathroom was filthy when we arrived — dusty, grimy, and just plain nasty. Conditioner was completely empty. It looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. For the price they charge, basic cleanliness should not be optional. Dust all over the shelves in the Suite, and just all around did not look clean or turned over properly The valet staff was horrible as we were leaving. Rude, Disorganized, unhelpful, and made an already frustrating stay even worse. To top it all off, I was charged twice for the same room, and nobody there could give me a straight answer on how to fix it. Being double-charged for an already overpriced room and then getting no real help is completely unacceptable. I also paid extra for breakfast and never received it. So not only was the room dirty and the service terrible, but I was charged for things I didn’t even get. For over $300 a night, this place was a complete disappointment. Dirty room, terrible service, billing issues, and zero accountability. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

The food menu is very sparse and very fancy. Not many casual/chill options. The hotel was clean, comfy, and cute. Parking is very limited. All parking is at least 2 blocks from the hotel and you have to pay.
- 3/5
Bathroom was cramped. Shower drain clogged.
- 5/5
Parking was quick and efficient. The staff was present and ready to help. The room was clean and comfortable. We didn’t eat there but their cafeteria/store was always busy and that’s a good sign. I highly recommend this place!
- 2/5
Valet parking was awful Friday night with cars lined into the road and attendants were very ill and inattentive due to the influx of guests and cars. I then found my car parked on the road Saturday, unsure why that would be considered valet. Hot water went out Sunday so ice cold showers for all. The food was mediocre and over priced. The roof top bar was mostly people from the street smoking weed. I called for clean towels and received none. No one mentioned that the pool closed may 2025 not to reopen at all. Not the best graduate we've stayed at, but at least the rooms were very clean and cozy.

I stayed here once before and this time was a very similar experience. The staff is nice enough, if a bit disorganized. My room was fine, but noisy. The wifi was awful and I was told that was probably because the hotel was full. Breakfast is ordered at a counter in the lobby and delivered to your table, but my order was lost and had to be placed again. The entire experience was very impersonal.
- 3/5
I want to start this by saying, I’m a Hilton rewards member and frequent their hotels as I travel for business. The Graduate did not live up to their typical standards. The bathroom had no toilet paper holder so you just had the tp on the granite counters that condensate when the shower is running because the exhaust fan didn’t work. The shower basin was covered in these black stains as if someone just dyed their hair in there. There was only one towel on the rack but there was one other one under the sink. When I pulled it out a clump of hair came with it. There was also no ice or vending on our floor even though there was signs and hookups. Now we were barely in the room and it was fine enough to sleep in but didn’t live up to my expectations for Hilton. We called ahead and were told the rooftop bar would be open which is part of the reason we chose this hotel over others but it doesn’t open until next week. Food was decent and the restaurant but there’s better/cheaper options right outside.
- 2/5
Property was per friendly, but the building itself was old and not kept up. The rooftop sitting area was not open in early April when we stayed there, nor was it easily accessible. Not worth the price or the high rating.
- 5/5

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Desk staff was very friendly. Bartender was very helpful with my dinner arrangements. Only complaint is valet staff. He readjusted my car seat and steering wheel and did not put it back. Also kept walking behind me when i said i was fine to ask me to write a review. Actually asked me to get my phone out to do it right then.
- 5/5
Simple, no hassel check in. We arrived late after a 5hr drive they were curtious and pleasant. Held our bags next day while we enthralled on a college tour. Vallet was also great and quick.

This property looked and felt tired. Kind of like a hotel that wants to be a luxury hotel ... but hasn't figured it out or shared that with their employees. The bathroom was dirty with scuff marks on the door and shower and literal dirt in the corners. Peeling wallpaper. The bed's top sheet had a foot-long tear right at the top. That was fun. Housekeeping was hit or miss. We finally had to ask for our room to be serviced. And they were the stingiest hotel I've ever seen for leaving towels and washcloths. One per guest, which is problematic if you spend the day sweaty outdoors and want to refresh before dinner. (I will not re-use a washcloth.) Plus, there was very little place to put your clothes. My wife and I were there for a week and there weren't enough hangers for even her clothes. I had to spread my shirts out of the couch. Plus, there was no bureau or chest of drawers to put your other clothes in so we had stuff in our suitcases all week. There was a neat electric tea pot in the room ... but not once during the week did they leave any cups. They have a rec area with a pool table but ... and this is kind of indicative of the rest of the property ... the table felt was coming loose and the three cues were useless: two didn't have tips and the remaining cue was split in the shaft. Do you need a pool table at a hotel? No. Not at all. But if they do offer one, it should at least be in decent shape. Bottom line: There are definitely cleaner, more modern hotel in RVA.
- 5/5
The property is maintained decently and the staffs are friendly. House keeping was done well.
- 5/5
It was just ok. The room that I received was not what was pictured and described online.
- 5/5
The restaurant and bar were excellent
- 5/5
This place is how a hotel should be. It was absolutely fabulous from beginning to end. Staff is wonderful. Hotel is gorgeous. Rooms are clean, updated and nice.
- 3/5
Late night arrival, so skeleton staff? But grateful person behind the desk helped me with my bags to my room! Room was on high floor with a nice view, but the very heavy unhealthy air hit me hard as I entered. However, the room was very clean and tidy otherwise and I greatly appreciated the Bodum kettle in the room to make tea and coffee. Will say that memory foam mattresses really do need to be turned more often by housekeeping. The way hotel rooms are set up with phones, etc, typically set up on one side of the bed or the other, of course that’s the side everyone sleeps on. As for property amenities, I was surprised that the offerings (mostly drinks) after hours at the little “store” off the lobby were so few. The other odd thing is that tho the floor signs indicated a vending machine area, that area was a gaping, empty expanse. The desk attendant said they don’t have vending. So…? I have stayed at other Graduate Hotels, so I was a little disappointed, but I would absolutely give the brand another go.
- 4/5
Hotel is nice and clean/modern and the location is convenient. Valet, check-in staff, and breakfast staff were all very courteous. Rooms are spacious and I got an unsolicited upgrade to a larger room, which was nice, Room amenities could be nicer, especially the bathroom amenities.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and i didn't have to worry so much about security.
- 4/5
The staff was beyond amazing! Never had a group of people be kinder and I was there with my 84 year old mother and 15 year old daughter! I felt terrible for the single man on parking this morning when he was trying to get 50+ cars out for an 8 am game. Hilton - I am an honors member and please staff better for Jefferson Cup - it is 4 weekends! Your staff deserves that support because you should be so proud of the job they do. By far me best Hilton yet!!!
- 3/5
Front desk staff were not that friendly. No parking, have to pay for valet. Room was clean but housekeeping could be better.
- 5/5

Enjoyed our stay. Tasty cookies.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and bed was soooo comfy. People were enjoying the game area and bar. We had a nice breakfast before leaving. Area was clean and lots of nice restaurants and pubs nearby. Would highly recommend!
- 3/5
Rooms are decent, nothing to write home about, but location is great!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful in figuring out parking for a weekend stay- what would be best on our budget. We got an early check-in (maybe just luck but it was nice). The rooms are pretty standard but they were clean and comfortable. Safety is obviously important- use a key to take the elevator, etc. The game room area is great- lots of options if you want to come and hang out. The location is terrific, especially if you're doing something in or around VCU. Friendly and helpful staff!

This is located in downtown, adjacent to VCU. We could walk to the classes. There is only minimal food service on site, but several restaurant are within walking distance. Parking is valet only and somewhat expensive at $37/night.
- 5/5
This is a nice property. It a bit far from the business center of Richmond but the walkable neighborhood has lots of nice restaurants and coffee options.
- 5/5
I had an issue with the reservation, caused by a computer issue not a person. Staff was extremely helpful and nice to get everything corrected! Some of the nicest and most polite staff at a hotel I have seen, including the valets. Highly Recommend!

Hotel is located in a great walkable community. The desk staff took about 10 minutes to show up for my check in after another member of staff told them I was waiting. The room was adequate but the topsheets were ripped and the bathroom was not the cleanest. Valet parking through electronic notification still took almost 28 minutes to get my car and not because it was in the system, it was because I complained. when the car was brought around, I was handed my keys and told the car was up the street and i could find it. Open space right in front of the door. Expensive price and the negatives outweighing the positives, I would say there are other better options. Oh yeah they had cookies at the desk but you get charged up the wazoo for everything else. Will not stay again!
- 5/5
It was great!
- 4/5
The room was very nice and the staff was courteous and helpful. My only issue was with the restaurant. There were no healthy choices on the breakfast menu -- no fruit, no oatmeal, no yogurt. Only fried foods like bacon, eggs and fried potatoes, though in different formats. I ordered the corned beef hash which was okay (not great) but i would have preferred something healthier. A little pricey, too. Parking overnight a little pricey also.

Cannot possibly say enough great things about the staff at this property. Main desk - amazing. Valet team - killed it. Everyone was so kind, and incredibly helpful. We were traveling with our dogs, who were also treated like royalty. Also - the rooms SMELL AMAZING. To the point, that I'd love to know what they use. Great, central Richmond location. Will definitely be back!

Nice staff- from the Valets to the front desk & lobby bar, + we enjoyed an upgraded room w/ a nice City view,..

The valet parking option was messy and resulted in significant delays and some distress (if not panic altogether) at the end of our stay due to the key of one of our vehicles having been misplaced, but was ultimately resolved.
- 3/5
I was given a handicapped bathroom with no border btw shower and bathroom floor. They provided a bath towel and a handtowel. No mat, no extra towel. Called front desk and requested more towels. 30 mins passed. Called a second time and finally got towels. No desk to work at in room. No free coffee, not even for rewards members.

The front desk was friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy as was check-out. Room was clean. Easy to get to our venue too!
- 4/5
The bathroom was impressively clean! Love the unique decor of the halls, rooms and lobby! Walls are a bit on the thin side but luckily most neighbors were pretty quiet at night!
- 5/5
Staff was amazing, the breakfast amenity was totally worth it. They had a text option and were very responsive. Would stay at again!
- 5/5
Easy seamless check-in and friendly staff. Nice room and decor.
- 4/5
Room was very nice, bed comfortable, shower hot, and perfect location for the event we attended.
- 3/5
Only one elevator working, I had to wait really long several time. I ordered a breakfast sandwich explaining I need it in 10 minutes. She told me ok and 15 minutes later it wasn’t here and I had to leave with my client coming to pick me up. A person came to the car and ask me to take it king of aggressively “seriously? take it dude” while I canceled the order at the counter politely before leaving. The sandwich was cold in the center, almost like frozen… couldn’t eat it
- 5/5
Cute hotel, comfortable and would totally come back!
- 2/5
The photos depict this hotel as much nicer. It was just ok. The hotel receptionist refused to bring us water and utes
- 5/5
Lovely staff, great location, easy street parking.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, great staff and easy walking distance to vcu
- 5/5
Second time staying there as we go to a semi annual event at the Jefferson right next door. We get great value and save money and walk less than a block.
- 5/5
Booked this room for my parents for the holiday they loved it!
- 4/5
Breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had certainly in any hotel
- 3/5
Sad to see how this hotel has gone downhill. Bad elevator, difficult
- 3/5
No coffee maker in the room? For
- 4/5
All of the staff was attentive. *** The physical property needs some repairs (elevators very slow, halls were poorly painted, the room ceiling and walls were worn).
- 5/5
The overall “Graduate” theme was carried out throughout the hotel, and it was fun to see all the decor. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful! We ended up ordering several appetizers and entrees for dinner before heading off to a near by show. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! My only complaint would be not knowing that the hotel was “pet friendly” and when I say that… don’t get me wrong, we love pets! However, one of our family members is allergic and the fact that people enter and exit the small confirmed area of the elevator with pets, the pet dander did cause some allergy issues. This is something that is becoming more common in hotels and shared spaces, not sure how it could be avoided but wish there was a way to almost keep things separated.
- 5/5
Love staying here staff is so nice
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
The front desk and valet staff were nice and friendly. The room had a smell and one of the beds sheets didn’t look clean.
- 5/5
Perfect! Staff was kind and accommodating, this was my second lovely experience at this hotel! ;-)
- 5/5
Very nice
- 4/5
Staff was helpful.
- 5/5
The hotel was clean, relaxing and beautiful. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The hotel also provided a wonderful experience for my dog. My only issue at the hotel was about the breakfast. At the check in process and at the restaurant, we were informed that the breakfast was included. The food and services at the breakfast area were excellent, but just at the time of checkout, we were informed that we had a credit of only $30 per day for breakfast for 3 people. In addition, the hotel doesn’t have any breakfast for $10. We had to pay for breakfast for every day we stay at the hotel and we felt frustrated for hidden fee and information.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and room was ready early.
- 5/5
Nice hotel, friendly staff. I didn't eat at hotel so I can't comment. Nice bar.
- 5/5
Everything was very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of amenities. Great location. Very much enjoyed my stay
- 5/5
Very nice rooms / hallways / common areas; only one of 3 elevators was working and even that was slow - these things happen but those elevators need renovation. Great location.
- 5/5
What an excellent facility! So happy with our stay!
- 5/5
Easy check-in and quiet overall
- 3/5
The shower had hair in it and the Malin and Goetz products were seemingly filled with something that oddly resembled Old Spice body wash. Also whatever cleaning product you're using in the rooms is way too pungent and intense. Staff was great though!
- 5/5
We walked to the Altria Theater which is only a short distance away.
- 5/5
great staff. fun lobby/design. very comfortable room.
- 2/5
Parking Issues and costs. Facilities over-rated.
- 3/5
While the staff was very friendly, the accommodation was average. The bath mat was stained, there was hair in the tub and the valet app doesn't seem to work appropriately when attempting to retrieve your car. Additionally, which is no fault of hotel, but I was woken up at 6am to the smoke detector beeping because the backup battery was dead. I had to remove it from the wiring and slide it under the mattress just to stop the beeping. I'll likely stay at the Hilton a few blocks away next time, even though this is a Hilton affiliate.
- 5/5
Room was clean and neat and staff were great
- 3/5
The day of check-in, everything was great. Friendly staff, nice room, etc. No complaints. The following day for check-out, not so much. For the first time in months, my wife and I were looking forward to sleeping in. Hence why we took a trip out of town to enjoy it. Do not disturb sign on the door and everything. We wake up at 8:40am to someone banging on our door. Now that we can't get back to sleep, we go down to get some coffee. You have to tip in advance at your time of purchase, so I left a 25% tip. I was still in a decent mood. They forgot my order. So as I see all other orders completed over 10 minutes, both women disappear to clean or talk to people at the bar. I had to come back up and then she asked if I was still waitjng on my food. I said no, 2 coffees. Then she started my order. One girl apologized to the other for the mistake, and the second girl told her it wasn't a big deal. Definitely not worth a 25% tip for that. Finally on our elevator ride back up to get our stuff and leave, it goes out and won't respond. What started out as a great experience, ended with us saying it's not worth our time or money to go back. Good luck next traveler. I hope that you have a better experience.
- 5/5
Had a studio suite. Great place to stay. Check in was flawless. Amenities were outstanding. Very clean hotel. I will be back!
- 4/5
Excellent stay. Amenities lacking. No complimentary coffee or anything. For the cost of the room, amenities should be better.
- 4/5
Cafe/bar had excellent lattes. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sleeping area was very dusty
- 5/5
Great room, great staff, great location. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Altria.
- 5/5
Very courteous front desk. Check in was quick and easy.
- 5/5
Extremely clean!!! I stayed at the Charlottesville location before my visit to the Richmond a was very happy. I do feel the menu needs improvement. However it was very convenient. All the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Would stay here again😃
- 5/5
Very nice clean room and all the staff were very polite and helpful. We will stay again.
- 5/5
Incredibly courteous staff!
- 5/5
Good experience overall at Graduate
- 2/5
Wasn’t informed of the pet fee and breakfast available doesn’t mean free breakfast.
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 5/5
Staff was great and very helpful. Loved the front desk staff who gave me restaurant recommendations and the friendly bar staff.
- 4/5
It worked great for the marathon
- 3/5
I find the walls to be thin. I heard the toilet flushing from the room upstairs.
- 5/5
Great staff!
- 5/5
Quick stay for a show, room was clean and quiet, easy check in/check out, and valet parking
- 2/5
I had reserved a corner room. When I checked in the staff told me that the room had been given to someone else. They then gave me a different room with a king. This would have been okay but the shower had no hot water so I was unable to take shower in the morning. I have stayed at this hotel before and had previously had a good experience but this stay came up significantly short of that.
- 5/5
Clean room staff was great as always! Breakfast was delicious & good coffee :) valet was great and lots of walking for my dog.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Great staff and very clean
- 4/5
Staff was excellent
- 4/5
Super comfortable beds! Great lobby restaurant. Loved sitting at the counter for dinner and breakfast.
- 5/5
Yes very much so
- 3/5
The decor and condition looked very worn and needed a complete refurbishment. There was only a minimal place to eat that did not provide lunch and didn't open until 4:00PM. We arrived early from our flight and asked about our room and we were told it was not ready. I asked to be put on a list for early access and was told they would try, two hours later I went to the desk and asked about our room and was told "Oh sorry, yes it's ready and that been the saga of having to change rooms etc.
- 3/5
Room was okay, front desk very nice, lobby restaurant awful
- 5/5
Very nice room, comfortable beds, small bedroom, great staff, onsite cafe. Only thing I didn't like is valet parking only.
- 3/5
My bed was very comfortable
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Walkable to our destination!
- 4/5
the "acccessible" room we were assigned to was lacking. the bathroom in particular was inconvennient to use - the sink had ZERO space around it for storage. elevators were slow and made concerning groans. bar staff on the main level seemed inconvenienced by our pressence in the evening.
- 3/5
Nice hotel
- 4/5
Good
- 3/5
The associate at check-in was distractible and not very attentive to my Q's. No coffee maker of any kind in the room?? Even a Motel 6 includes this amenity. Only an electric tea kettle. How many guests start their day with tea vs. coffee. It felt asvthough this was a way to force coffee consuming guests to go tothe lobby and pay $5 or $6 for a single cup of Joe. In some circles, this woukd be considered a " racket".
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
Food was good. Some quirks to the room layout that irked me but it was fine. Not sure I would stay again tbh. Just not for me. Very friendly staff.
- 1/5
hotel was so tired. I booked on expedia and when I arrived the staff told me the charge didn't go through on my business card. I put on my personal card. I was charged twice. They didn't know what the hell was going on, clearly. the bar tender on the roof was so overwhelmed he basically told a customer & myself he wasnt going to be able to help us.
- 4/5
It was a nice hotel.
- 5/5
I paid for my breakfast at 8:30am. Since I was charged, I didn't have breakfast there again. A little disappointed.
- 5/5
Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Great value with great lobby and room.
- 3/5
While the room was nice and the staff great, the mattress was soft and uncomfortable. Also, the pillows were hard, way oversized and largely useless. The air conditioner in our room was so loud it felt like we slept next to an aircraft. Modern air conditioning is quiet, but these are old and need replacing.
- 4/5
Free coffee/tea in the lobby would have been nice. Elevator issue - only 1 of 3 working. Used the stairs for our 5th floor rooom.
- 4/5
Our second visit. Very nice
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean. Housekeeping does an excellent job. The staff in general were very accommodating and informative. Chef Trent and Cherelle both clearly have a deep understanding of hospitality. Meals prepared by Chef Trent were delicious. Thank you both for being the highlight of my stay.
- 4/5
Our reservation was listed under a completely different name. Took 40 min for us to check in.
- 4/5
Be aware that with construction in the parking deck, there is not enough valet parking for the hotel (which was an unpleasant surprise arriving back at the hotel late at night!) We mentioned that we would be parking when we checked in and there was no warning, just “you’ll deal with parking attendants to arrange that.”
- 4/5
I stay at The Graduate Richmond once or twice a month, and have stayed in several different rooms over the past 2 years. They're very clean, and most of the rooms are comfortable. But for the room price, hotel age, and location, I haven't seen much consistency in the condition of the room I have been put up in, specifically w.r.t. bathrooms (updated vs aging and cfackign at the edges, or lacking aome key supplies) and upkeep of room amenities. Since I mostly just care about the bed and the quiet, I keep coming back. Hence the 4/5 stars.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room and very clean hotel. Very impressed.
- 5/5
Nice gym, very hip property. Comfy beds, attentive staff
- 5/5
Besides this the room was very clean and comfortable, the rooftop bar was awesome as well as the lobby. Would definitely recommend!!
- 5/5
Great staff, vibe, location, and hotel overall. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
- 5/5
The overnight desk clerk was helpful with our medical issue. I did not get his name. October 4th. He helped with transportation issues. Thank you
- 2/5
I booked the Graduate because my last stay at the nearby Hilton was disappointing and I wanted a better experience for our team. The Graduate itself was pleasant enough this time, but the trip was still frustrating because of booking issues. I had paid for breakfast as part of my reservation, but the hotel didn’t have it in their system. I had to pull out my laptop — twice — to prove it was included. That’s an unnecessary hassle for a prepaid business trip. The bigger issue was with my coworker who arrived the next night: • His reservation wasn’t honored; he was sent to the Hilton at 1 a.m., the very hotel we were trying to avoid. • His first room at the Hilton had a broken TV, then the AC stopped working. • He was eventually downgraded to another room in even worse shape, with a leaking faucet. For context, during my previous stay at the Hilton I also experienced problems — a broken toilet seat, a poorly maintained restroom, unpleasant hallway smells, and overall neglect. I even took photos and uploaded them to Google at the time. Knowing this, it was incredibly frustrating that my coworker had to endure the Hilton again after his Graduate booking wasn’t honored. As the travel manager for my company, I test hotels to find reliable options for our employees. The Graduate met the mark on comfort, but the Wi-Fi was weak, and the booking issue forced us to split our team and coordinate late-night room ch
- 1/5
Staff is incompetent and valet is terrible. Do not stay here if you need to be places on time as it will take 30-45 minutes to get your car from Valet.
- 5/5
Every was perfect
- 3/5
Check everyone in. Other than that everything was nice.
- 4/5
The area is safe and walkable but there are not many stores around for quick items like water, snacks, etc except for a small 7/11. There is no hotel store area and the vending area on our floor (floor 5) was non-existent - it was just an empty room labeled vending. That made it difficult if you didn’t have a car like us! However, Lyfts were easily accessible in the area arriving fast and fairly priced. Overall, I would stay again if I had a car but be advised there is only valet parking as an option through the hotel.
- 5/5
Now that ive got that out...this hotel is great. There is construction which only meant a sound during the day, but it was quiet at night. The rooftop bar is amazing. The gym is functional. The area around it is great. I needed to work remotely and the lobby is essentially a giant coworking space. Just clean the rooms by default yall. Clean. The. Rooms.
- 3/5
Roof top views are awesome. Bed - Really comfortable bed and pillows Con: Parking - Use the valet. After being told by the front desk that we can park on the side of the hotel without paying on Saturday as the police don’t ticket there as they know the hotel guests park there, my sister received 3 parking tickets that day. My husband and I used the valet. They were awesome. Hotel manager said that they will take care of the tickets ( fingers crossed that they do). Cleanliness- 2 of the 3 rooms had obviously not been cleaned too well. My room had a party mask left on a chair and a pill was on the floor. My sisters room had a cigarette on the floor (she doesn’t smoke). 3rd room was fine. Overall: Decent stay with an average hotel room feel, not worth the money we paid for it. Nothing exceptional about the room other than really comfortable bed and pillows.
- 3/5
They did not provide tea in the room and then there wasn’t a coffee and tea service in the lobby. There was a restaurant with an extremely long line to buy tea and coffee. Then it took over 30 minutes to get our car from the valet - there was only one guy working and it was his first day. He did the best he could but they were extremely understaffed and overwhelmed. I was trying to rush out the door so I could find tea (since there was none ro be found)- but compound my lack of caffeine with the extreme wait at the valet and the experience was only subpar. The location was definitely convenient but I’d think twice before going again.
- 5/5
This is a very busy hotel due to its proximity to the VCU campus, but the staff manages to be helpful and very responsive. I will make a special mention of the beds that are super comfortable! I slept like a baby on a cloud :-)
- 5/5
Nice rooftop bar/ restaurant
- 5/5
Has a rooftop on 16th floor
- 3/5
On checkout, Hilton (who had gven me a $15 meal voucher as a rewards member on checkin), reversed their postion and said none of that counts when I book thru Hotel.com. I asked why did you even give it to me? Well we have a lot of new employees was the answer. This property is run by children. I'll never stay here again and am sorry I left my Marriott brand where I'm platinum.
- 3/5
I was in a pinch so I decided to try this hotel. The first room was not the correct room. Went back downstairs and got the correct one. Very nice-sized room and it was a corner which is what I wanted. Found dirt as I was beginning to do some work. Curtains and under the AC unit are very dusty. Very small bathroom, the shower was broken on one end. The food in the lobby is delicious. Valet the next morning over 30 minutes. Plan accordingly. Would I stay again, I am not sure.
- 5/5
Rooftop bar was great
- 2/5
Hotel is not in good condition. Bed lumpy and old, tv broken, shower has terrible water pressure. Feels more like a motel than an hotel.
- 5/5
Style and roof
- 5/5
Excellent customer service
- 5/5
Loved the theme, staff was great. Chiquita was extreme helpful and nice. Went out of her way to help me.. Location was great walking to campus but walking back at night was a little dicey but that’s Richmond not hotel. :-) I would stay here again! Thanks!
- 3/5
the hotel had no robes or room service as expedia displayed but thats not their fault, its expedia! so i had to pay extra for no reason and have yet to receive a refund or update . the hotel also attempted to charge me numerous times for the same stay i paid for in advance. The door to my bathroom did not close and the tv was outdated. the amenities such as the rooftop bar, lobby cafe/bar, 24/7 staff in front, and the valet were great touches though, the room was not as expected
- 5/5
Loved the attention to detail. Design is functional and entertaining at the same time Staff is amazing. Loved having a coffee bar on site. Valet parking was well structured but expensive.
- 5/5
This is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in VA! Thank you Graduate
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly
- 5/5
Beds are comfy. Room was clean, but wear and tear in the bathroom. Lobby not very clean even at 7am in the coffee shops--table with sticky on it, moved over and found a pepperoni on the floor.
- 3/5
The hotel was under renovation when we arrived, which we were not told in advance. The rooms were small, with the inability for someone to walk behind you if you were sitting at the desk. The elevators were tiny. The front entrance was cramped for automobiles. The Valet procedure took a few minutes to figure out. On a more positive note, all of the personnel were quite helpful, pleasant and very professional.
- 2/5
The room was dusty. AC left a big wet spot on the carpet. The coffee service in lobby was slow and was lukewarm. The front desk attendant was informative, friendly and polite.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Awesome staff and very walkable neighborhood. Plenty of activities within walking distance. Culturally fluid food choices. Great drinks etc
- 3/5
They have no parking except valet and charged the outrageous price of 37 dollars!!! Apparently they have parking below the building but do not let you park yourself!!!! I was not pleased at all
- 3/5
Check-in/out staff was friendly but made no effort to help with easy requests (like finding a bowl, any bowl, to put water in for my dog). Room was large and clean though the bathroom was small and in need of a refresh as the paint of the shower tray was peeling off. Being so close to VCU also meant the room was noisy, I could hear students at a house party until well after midnight.
- 2/5
Staff was nice, but the hotel was under construction and the valet took 30 minutes. We had to carry our own bags up to the room. The room was an absolute disaster.
- 4/5
Roof top seating area. Able to watch the sun set over the city
- 3/5
Overall, the stay was nice- the hotel is charming, just a few points of frustration.
- 5/5
Very modern and clean The bar is awesome and the whole vibe is amazing
- 3/5
parking is poor. peloton in gym broken. room is tight.
- 3/5
Did not like that they only had Valet parking and street parking. You also had to pay for the street parking from 8am to 6pm. Rooms were on the small side. No house keeping between the two nights we stayed.
- 3/5
I was expecting a better experience than I received. The place was under construction and the pool was no longer there. The staffing at the roof top bar and lobby was scarce. The room smelled of vinegar coming from the AV unit and the sink in the bathroom was leaking. Was unimpressed.
- 5/5
.
- 3/5
Peloton broken
- 4/5
This property was great location to VCU.
- 3/5
Wasn’t the worst ever but annoying and not what we paid for monthsssss ago. That’s why I booked so far in advance
- 5/5
The property was conveniently located near plenty of dining options and the staff were very friendly and professional. They also have a really cool rooftop bar/restaurant. The only con was that the pool is permanently closed.
- 3/5
They were not very accommodating for last-minute changes
- 4/5
i love the decor. More dining options would be great. Very warm in hallway on floor, probably noticed the temp more because only 2 of the 3 elevators worked on a very busy weekend. Other than that, love the property.
- 5/5
Nice facility and very friendly staff.
- 3/5
Old
- 4/5
The construction and lack of parking was very inconvenient tho.
- 4/5
For other people considering booking this type of room, it might be helpful to know that the only entrance to the room is through the “family” side (aka the bunk beds). The preference would be that the door is on the “parent” or “adult” side. While it wasn’t an issue for us, it would have been challenging if someone needed to leave the room while she was sleeping and causes some anxiety to have the entrance be on that side should someone enter unexpectedly, but there was a closure that wouldn’t allow someone to come in. The other thing to note is that there is valet service that is separate from the hotel. There is not parking on the property site.
- 5/5
Good location. Welcoming staff
- 5/5
Very comfortable beds, crisp clean sheets & 3 pillows on queens. Bathroom immaculate. Staff friendly & helpful. Valet parking was prompt. Wooden coin at check-out for free coffee. Roof top bar was a plus!
- 4/5
Construction was overbearingly loud in the lobby area. They did give free drink tokens out because of this so that was nice. Other than painfully loud noises checking in and while waiting for my room to be ready, it was a very nice hotel. The rooftop bar was really nice and the bartender working on 8/10/25 around 4:00 pm was really good and very professional.
- 2/5
Would not let us checkin until 4pm. Atleast 10 other travelers had to wait in the lobby area before they would let anyone checkin. There was very loud construction going on in the lobby so we could not even talk to each other. At 4 pm, all the rooms magically opened up for checkin but now we had to wait in a very long line. Only 1 working elevator for an 18 story building. Valet is expensive, even for Richmond.
- 5/5
Great vibe and experience
- 1/5
Construction noise and odors were terrible. The staff offered no options to location change or solutions
- 4/5
The area parking lots were competitive @ $37. We finally found street parking # ,,$2/hr.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel for an affordable price. Loved it
- 3/5
Fire alarm went off around 930 pm, went down 13 flights of stairs, two staff were at desk acting like nothing is going on. No guidance, no communication, stood on the side of the street with other guests, no staff or management ever came to tell us anything. About 20 minutes after, the alarm was still going off, no fire truck came to clear the building a staff member came out and motioned us to come in, no words, just waved us in. Two minor issues, a big hole in the bath towel and the pump with the conditioner in it in the shower was broken. The guy doing valet was great in explaining to me how the parking on the street worked, I was able to park for free 1/2 a block away. Very limited selections for breakfast, but guy working was accommodating and made my son a "chocolate" flavored coffee. Checkout was easy.
- 4/5
The Graduate Hotel met our expectations: It was conveniently located in the heart of the city, it had character and a history, was affordable and its staff were pleasant and helpful. The quality of the food and service at the restaurants at the The Graduate were an unexpected bonus.
- 3/5
This property has a great location with a friendly front desk staff. The bed was very comfortable and our corner room was quiet. With renovations ongoing at the property expect construction noise between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Additionally, check-in at 4 p.m. was exceptionally slow due to only 1 person initially working. Waits for the elevators can be long as not all are currently in working order.
- 5/5
Always a great stay at these Hilron Graduate properties
- 2/5
The staff helped as much as they could, but the hotel was undergoing renovations. Apparently, the day we were checking in, they were swapping out beds or mattresses in hotel rooms and must have been running behind. We were not able to check in for literally about 3 hours after we arrived well after check-in time. They were slammed at the front desk because of this. Upon asking for some kind of compensation for this, they offered to comp a meal at the hotel restaurant up to $100 for the three of us (myself, husband, and elderly mom). That was nice, but it should have been a policy communicated by managers to offer that up front without a customer having to ask for it given the situation. There was constant jackhammering, so the lobby was so loud you couldn't hear anyone. We used valet parking, so our car was not available, and my mother could barely walk and had just had a medical procedure that required her to lie down all afternoon. We came from out of state to VCU hospital, and we had to try to set her up on a couch in the back of the lobby area next to young guys playing shuffle board. It was crowded because so many people were waiting for their rooms, and the jackhammer noise was unrelenting. It was quite traumatic for my mother, as she had been through a lot, and for her safety she had been instructed to be lying down the rest of the day. We had never in a million years guessed that we would walk out of the hospital and into this situation after booking this hotel.
- 3/5
Nice property but pool is closed and construction going on. Alarm went off and we all had to evacuate.
- 5/5
Room and bed were very comfortable. Nice bathroom and shower.
- 4/5
More food options between breakfast and when the bar counter opens. More food and beverage options as a grab and go choice. We really appreciated the complimentary, self service ice water. There was no vending machines, no ice on our floor. The bed was insanely comfortable! Our room was in a corner and had no outside noise like foot traffic and that was a blessing! Asia was so kind and welcoming. The rest of the staff and construction workers were very hospitable as well. You all need a fly wind deterrent at the entrances. There were so many flies and gnats. The decor was so cool. Loved the VCU Rams and the Arthur Ash tennis prints. The Byrdhouse was so cool. We live rooftop views, so breathtaking. Overall it was a very comfortable stay. Thank you!
- 5/5
I love this hotel! The staff is outstanding and the accommodations are fantastic.
- 2/5
Find a different place to stay.
- 3/5
Then the cars keys weren’t working. It literally took 4 trips to the front desk to get into a room. I was very frustrated.
- 5/5
Excellent stay. My only complaint is I had to wait until they found someone to check me in. No one was at the front desk. Two people finally came by but did not have a login to the computer??? It took 20 minutes before they found someone to check me in.
- 4/5
The staff was very kind and the location is great
- 5/5
Great stay
- 3/5
But check in was extremely chaotic. There is no early check in so we pre check in and told to come back at for along with many other guests so at 4 pm most everyone who did the same were waiting in line to check in, with only 1 clerk to do so. Then we had no hot water in the morning. It was definitely not a good experience. We have stayed there before and liked it.
- 2/5
Room not available at check in time due to short staffed housekeeping. Pool no longer in service.
- 5/5
great location
- 2/5
Didn’t know the rooftop was closed. Was the only reason I booked so it was a waste of money for one night
- 2/5
Didn’t like they couldn’t accommodate an early check in. Didn’t like only one operational elevator and constant hammering and drilling. Didn’t like the bathrooms were dirty and had ants. The wooden coin for a free cup of coffee to make up for everything felt more like a slap in the face and disingenuous. Will not stay there again.

Only one elevator was working during the entire stay, there were no ice or vending available on any floors, and the room was not made up or serviced. Otherwise this hotel was great, I think they were just having a tough week!

-Heavily delayed Checkin. Was told multiple times I was the first person on the early check in list over the phone - finally made it to the hotel and watched the attendant write my name down for the first time! Would have HAPPILY paid more to check in early - was never an option. -Rooftop bar closed on Tuesday and opened 25 mins late on Wednesday. - Loud construction all 3 days -Lobby bar closed both afternoons -No general store in the lobby. No drinks or snacks - had to walk to 7/11 -Room uncleaned both nights -No ice machine Worst hotel I’ve ever been to and I’m posting the same review to google

The staff that I encountered during my stay were all friendly and responded to any concerns. The room overall was nice but the bathroom had a small sink with no counter which made it difficult to have things available on the sink for washing up, brushing teeth, etc. This hotel is in a good location and is very close to the new ampitheater. Also, just to note, the hotel is undergoing a renovation so the construction noise was still going on at 6pm when we left for dinner. There is a note about this on the hotel website.

This location isn't accommodating for out of town visitors. I was notified while in the airport in Phoenix that my room was being refunded and moved to another hotel. I booked this room with other family members as a family reunion after the baby shower we were attending for my nephew. I was told that my room was rented to rooms that was under construction . However, my room was made available to an AAU basketball family occupying the hotel. I confirmed my room the day prior to arrival ..verbally with the front desk. I am beyond upset , we spent money on flights , hotel rooms only to be in town for less that 48 hours for the event. It cost us more to secure our accommodations once we arrived in town. Unexceptable!!!

The graduate moved out reservation to another hotel without telling us. Unacceptable

Room not available due to construction, they notified us as we’re checking in

Roof top bar like but wasn't open. They should tell you plus under construction. Parking service was unsatisfactory. Paying tip they wanted to tag on a fee!! Bad enough to pay but tag on a fee to parking attendants!!! Get a new service

To be honest I was pretty disappointed in the Graduate this time. They had 3 weddings booked the night we stayed. Not sure why they would allow this, it can't be easy on the staff. Everyone was checking in at once and the line was wrapped around the lobby. There were check wedding welcome gifts everywhere. The room looked like it had seen better days. The wall has been patched/painted but needs to be refinished.

The worse ever stay of my life. Unprofessional staff, old and unpleasant building and room, out dated evaluators. One of the 3 broken and just the wait for an elevator was 5-10 minutes. Expensive room and only valet parking at $37 per night with no other choice. I will never ever stay here again or recommend the hotel.

I walked in thinking I’d get a clean room but instead there were dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Also, hair was in the shower. When I mentioned this to the housekeeper, she just handed me new towels and told me to leave the dirty ones by my door. She didn’t even offer to grab the dirty ones and as I grab the old ones, she walked away. Furthermore, the sheets were very thin and blankets should have been provided in the room. In addition, I was rejected from entering the Byrdhouse on the 4th of July because they were “at capacity” but said if I was meeting someone I would be able to enter. Make that make sense. I’m a paying customer and was turned away from something a paying customer should have first dibs on. Lastly, I was under the assumption the pool was going to be functional and it was not. It was empty. Had I known, I would’ve stayed elsewhere. A major incentive to me was the pool during this heat. I’m very disappointed in my stay.

I usually enjoy staying at any Hilton but I can't say that about The Graduate. Positives the decor was unique and stylish. Negatives were the pool was closed, turned away from the rooftop deck twice due to overcrowding. Nickel and dime customers. Almost $40 for valet, which was a long wait, even had to pay for a coffee. If you can find a spot on the limited streets you had to walk by homeless people laying on the sidewalks. It was disappointing.

It was a good stay. It’s in a great location for any business af VCU. Easy walking distance. Hotel is dated and a little old. Dust in the corners and behind furniture. Good hotel, not great.

Lamps, picture frames and air vents were dusty. Some cleaning details were missed. Unfortunate the pool is closed.

I have stayed in many Hilton hotels, but will avoid them in the future if they choose to nickel and dime you for everything. Staff was friendly and welcoming to all.
