The room smelled of smoke, the towels were worn and dirty looking,the pillows and bed linen were the same way.You really need a Bio hazard suite to sleep there;The bathroom was super disgusting stains in the tub,the toilet leaked and it wasn't mounted properly.By the looks of it the staff lives there............AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!

The room was not clean, there was hair in the sink and flicks of toothpaste on the mirror. The bathroom tub/shower was so bad we didn't feel comfortable showering in it. The toilet paper roll had 8 squares of toilet paper on it and we had to put the new roll on ourselves. The back of the bathroom door was coming apart and there were dust bunnies in every corner. I was happy we only had to be there 9 hours!

“My experience at this Econo Lodge was extremely disappointing. Upon check-in, I was given a room with no functioning lock on the door, which was completely unacceptable. When I requested to switch rooms, the new room was no better – the TV didn’t work, and the towels provided were a discolored, dingy brown, far from what I expected in terms of cleanliness. To top it off, the next morning, the staff banged on my door loudly and aggressively for checkout, making the experience feel unprofessional and downright unpleasant. I would not recommend staying here.”

I was driving from NJ to FL and the traffic was horrible so I stopped at this hotel. I thank the gentleman that checked me in and my room is really lovely and clean.

It was a rather old property. The bathrooms have old stains on the walls and did not look clean. Towels are thin and only provided 2 of them. There is a Waffle House across the street so that was convenient for breakfast. It was ok for one night but I wouldn’t want to stay any longer than that.

I had filtered my choices to include free breakfast but found out they did not offer free breakfast when we got there. Check-in is not inside - it's a window open to all weather.

Okay but dated. Fairly clean. Average pillows. Good A/C. Only had 1 half roll of toilet paper. Thankfully didn't need more. ;) It is what is. Staff was very nice.

The front door had big air gaps. There were dead cockroachs everywhere. You could feel the springs in the bed. The bathroom door got shut and couldn't open it.

My daughter was traveling alone and tried to check in at 10:30 PM. The property couldn't find her reservation and told her they were completely booked. Not sure if it was hotels.com fault or the property but they were not sympathetic and did absolutely nothing to help her. They sent a young woman out to her car to deal with it herself Very unsympathetic and unprofessional.

When I tried checking into my room, they couldn’t find my reservation even though I had a confirmation number. So I had to pay for a new room. I Should’ve known at that moment to go elsewhere. I also asked the front desk to borrow scissors and they told me they didn’t have any but I could see them in the pencil holder.

When I was booking online, I still had some concerns about it, as some of the reviews are not that friendly. Actually, I was here, I am quite satisfied with it. Everything is very nice, it's clean, quiet and convenient. there are many restaurants nearby and it is very close to I95.

Check-in was done at an outside window with manager behind a "bank like" protected shield and the lobby door was locked. The floor was sticky and dirty and our sheets were still damp from washing. Hotel information indicated a continental breakfast would be served in the lobby but when I tried the door it was locked and then they told me to go to the Waffle House across the street.

The smoke detector was missing. The wood floors hadn’t been mopped in ages. Just an hour of walking around in socks and our socks were filthy. Several of the towels had stains and/or holes in them. Had to clean the tub again. The key to the room stopped working some time in the morning looong before check out. I guess you get what you pay for.

The hotel was in a area convenient to stay close by during Covid-19 so we did not have to be out in public no more than we had to the staff was very nice and the room was comfortable for our stay

Then my family woke up in the morning early to get ready to leave and the place had NO WATER..so no bathroom, shower ect. I contacted Expedia twice to try and get a refund and they kept claiming they could not get a hold of the property manager..I spent over an hour with customer service both times.

The comforters had like 10 cigarette burns in them. The room was solidly on the low end of quality. And the shower didnt work which was a real down to the stay. The toilet could barely flush a piece of toilet paper and deff not a number two.

2. The 2nd floor room had a damaged door lock, it took two trips to change out the lock. 3. The breakfast was non-existent, they only had coffee and one lonely breakfast bun.

easy check in, friendly front desk staff. checked in late on friday night and early saturday morning. not somewhere i would stay for an extended period but for a place to lay my head it was fine. staff was very nice and accommodated a late check in.

The towels looked as if they were used to clean a floor or even a car, washed and then fI led and put in the room. I wonder how clean the brown blankets really are. I always brought my own pillow and blanket. There have been renovations and several rooms have had some updates however they installed laminate wood flooring on the upper level and my lower level room was so loud from people walking. I was woken up so many times from the upper room coming in at 1 am, leaving at 5 am and then room service cleaning at 7 am. I had a horrible night of sleep. I put up with all of this considering the price until this weekend. We booked ahead directly with the hotel and requested an upper room to avoid noise. We got there, went to our room and as soon as we walked in, there was a floor heater between the beds. The room was well over 90 degrees. We turned it off and then noticed water all over the floor. Something had flooded and the laminate wood flooring was buckled up. We immediately left and requested a refund. I will never go to this hotel again.

the room was booked for a performer who left the media box in the room the hotel is actually giving us the runaround about returning it. Disturbed on a regular basis by a drug addict trying to get high because he thought and assumed we were drug dealers. Not happy at all but grateful for somewhere to stay. Definitely will not be going back to this establishment

They advertise continental breakfast but when we went to eat there was no breakfast. Our room was not cleaned when we returned during our first day. Housekeeping claimed that there was a do not disturb sign on the door. We did not put the sign on the door. The young male staff member had poor customer service skills.

I was in town looking for a cheaper room for one night. I wasn’t looking for anything luxurious.... just a comfortable bed, AC, and a working shower. The AC was broken make it very hot and sticky in my room all night and when I went to take a shower the next morning the shower head would spray all over the bathroom. I will not be back.

The AC was broken make it very hot and sticky in my room all night and when I went to take a shower the next morning the shower head would spray all over the bathroom. I will not be back.

Very clean and accommodating, great experience. Big bathroom and big bed. Was the nicest bed I have slept on while visiting five different motels on my trip. Only problem: not enough parking spots associated with the motel.

The rooms were well kept. The refrigerator in the room didn't work, but I called the staff and they replaced it with a new one. Overall it was not bad to stay there and would stay there again.

I arrived at the hotel and checked in. I am one of those people that check out my room before I get settled in. The first room I received the refrigerator was making a ticking or tapping noise and I suffer with migraines and hear everything. So, I asked to change rooms and it was done with no hassle which was awesome. Econo Lodge has come a long ways in 20 plus years because it’s been that long since I’ve stayed at one. I would recommend the chain because the rooms were very nice and affordable. There was a love seat in the room, a small desk which I needed, and microwave/small refrigerator. The room was clean the only complaint I really have was the around the bath tub near the wall needed to be recaulked and the bottom of the tub has something going on with it like it was resurfaced. It was clean and so I could live with it.

Very nice staff! Hotel needs some maintenance and repairs, but overall it was functional and perfect for our overnight stay.

The Econo Lodge was a decent hotel for the money. It was clean but the carpeting had scars, like burn marks, in a few areas. It made me want to always wear my slippers. Very few amenities in the room, just soap and shampoo. Nice TV with cable and mini microwave with fridge. As for the bedding, the spreads were nothing more than blankets which were wrinkled but acceptable. I personally think standard bedspreads look better because the lay neatly on the bed. Pillows were crappy, shape-wise. Sheets and towels were clean. As for the overall appearance of the room, it looked dated but was acceptable. Bathroom needed a better or more professional looking caulking job, but, again, it was okay for the price. I didn't need it, but there was no iron or ironing board in my room. My friend had one in his room. There was also no "Do Not Disturb" door hanger in my room. I had to use a door hanger that discussed the option to be green by not replacing towels and washcloths everyday which was fine with me since I was a single.

I will definitely stay at this location again when i come to Richmond just because that man made it a great stay.

Was in town for the Nascar race and we chose this hotel as it was close to the rack. When we checked in Hemal Paatel greated us so warmly and was helpful giving us tips on were to eat and even made us aware of discounts by using our room card. The room was spacious and clean and well use it again.

I have been using the same hotel for 6+ years because the price was decent and it was close to where I needed to go. But every year it gets worse. The hotel needs a facelift. The bathroom counters are nice but the caulking aorund the tub on the floor, the broken towel rod above the toilet (who hangs clean towels above a toilet) was broken, the wall was horribly patched under the sink. This will probably be the last year using this hotel and I will pay more for quality, cleanliness and comfort.

The room, however, is right next door to the laundry room. From this room, you can hear the washing machine cycles, especially the spin cycle! Laundry started around 8am Saturday morning. You can also hear footsteps from the room above. Fortunately, the guests above us were not noisy and that didn't bother us. It could be worse if there are small children playing/running. When the hotel is booked, parking could be an issue towards late evening. For a room with a king size bed, I would have expected more than 3 small square pillows. We probably could've requested more, but we were tired and made do. The bed was comfy enough. This hotel is about a 12-15 minute drive to RIR, so convenient for attending a NASCAR race. Cab service was quick to arrive. Two cap company's have business cards in the front office. The 3 front office staff I worked with were courteous, attentive and helpful. Before check in, I received a confirmation call. During that call I realized I reserved a smoking room. I prefer a non-smoking room and asked if we could switch. At the time of the call, I was told a note would be made to my booking and if one was available when we arrive, we could switch. But, the hotel was booked and she could not guarantee it. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at 10pm, that a non-smoking room was available. Overall, a pleasant experience and we would probably stay there again.

Told them I wanted to cancel we'd be traveling farther before stoppingr so didn't need the hotel and an hour later received an email CONFIRMING my reservation. hadn't passed the hotel yet so stopped at the address to check and yes the room was canceled. received an email that i'd checked out the next morning as well and never spent the night. strange....at least it didn't show up on my CC.

The hotel was overall clean. There was no musty smell. The pictures do not adequately represent the hotel. When I went for breakfast, there was nothing more than toast and some pastries, no cereal like in the pictures. For the price, we would likely try another hotel in the area.

When I stay in a motel, I don't expect it to be like a fine hotel, so I temper my expectations. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by Econo Lodge Richmond. The room was clean and the beds surprisingly comfortable. I believe there were smoking rooms nearby, but no smell from them penetrated my room. For a quick, one-night stopover, I was quite satisfied.
