SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Point Richmond

Excellent customer service by Estefany at front desk and Leticia at the breakfast buffet. I thank you both for making my stay so comfortable. I will be back and I do recommend this hotel. The rooms are clean, big counters, nice hot showers.

Beds were comfy I was placed next to the freeway and other residents that apparently lived there.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed, sorry that I really have to let you know. First, the hair dryer was broken and the front desk refused to fix it or provide it right away. My daughter had to sleep with wet hair. Second, the bedsheets were stain (blood) on it. And it is very thin blanket. Third, there are many mosquitos in the room. Fourth, the sink faucet is very hard to turn on and off. Fifth, the towels are dirty. Breakfast is the kind that it is totally ok if you miss.

The location is close to the freeway, there’s Chevron next to it and with free breakfast. The place looks run down and needs updating, based on the row where I stayed. Light bulbs were missing in the bedside lamps, ripped blinds, floor was filthy. Floor looks clean, no debris or anything visible. There was gritty stuff by the doorway and when I spilled something on the floor and wiped it… OMG the paper towel I used turned BLACK due to the floor not being mopped overtime! Gross!

Room is clean and nice. Price is very reasonable. The only problem is the noise of the traffic from the freeway and the diesel gas station, very noisy even at night.

Property was clean. Room was nice and clean and updated. Breakfast was good with a lot of choice. Worker super noisy even though the mgr put us upstairs we could still hear them being loud. Because of the area we Felt a little unsafe.

If the pool was open it would be nice and rooms well not a good place to relax you get wake-up at 1 am 2 am 3 am loud nice from cars and smell of mariguana people talking and lighting goes in the rooms

The air conditioner isn’t cold enough. It’s just more on the fan.

most of the furniture is old and damaged. smell of the room was very bad. toilet paper and towels were short. have to request more than one time, in general i will never visit that place or recommend it. to no body.

The clothing rack was inside the bathroom, which is not practical because the steam from the shower affects the clothes and causes them to develop an unpleasant smell. The toilet did not have a door. The water pressure was weak, and when I tried to adjust the shower water to make it a little warmer, the shower handle fell into the bathtub. The only thing I was satisfied with during my stay at this motel was the staff, because overall there was very little attention paid to the area around the rooms, and in general it did not feel very safe.

To the general public, please just spend the extra 100-150 extra and purchase different stay different place or city, Room was easy to access however the room was humid and had a terrible humid and smoky smell, the room has not been maintained in over 20 yrs or so. Place felt extremely cheap and non safe, I dont blame the worker that was there , housekeeping not there fault, its the owners of that hotel. I will never-ever stay at this place again, I do not recommend for anyone to stay here , let alone a single female. Secure locks to doors flimsy and cheap. Just stay away and beware. Only positive thing out of 3 nights , I took advantage of a Continental Bkfst in am . Other then that I would prefer an updated and clean room. NON Humid...and clean and sanitize entire room or rooms on campus. NOPe Never Again......

The room smelled like marijuana. The pool was closed. Lots of spiders in bathroom and the 2nd day employee came to bring clean towels while we were gone and then the room smelled like marijuana again!

Crazy noisy especially on sides facing road and freeway. All king bed rooms apparently face the roads.

What i enjoyed about the place was its quietness. The place does need some up keep, but for the price I paid it was ok.

I've stayed at no-frills properties before, but they didn't advertise as more than that. The SureStay was the definition of overpromised and underdelivered. There might be more expensive properties closer to downtown Richmond, but the extra cost is worth it.

We got in after 11pm. The front desk was closed inside. Had to speak to attendant through the window. Difficult to understand where to park and enter the hotel. The property looked run down, light shined in around the door frame, area and air conditioner were loud. Bed was confortable. Breakfast was mid. No elevators. Little over priced. Staff was pretty forceful about breakfast ending and patrons to get out at precisely 0900.

Leticia in the breakfast room very kind, always attentive. Demi, Gabriel, and Sarai thank you so much for the room service, and the extra coffee pads. I recommend this hotel, they have full breakfast, clean rooms and there are no homeless around.

Too much noise from the highway and streets around, despite being non smoking you could smell people smoking everywhere and particularly in the middle of the night, the rooms were not properly insulated against noise/smoke, I do not recommend

I wasn’t expecting much for the price I paid. Free parking and breakfast is a plus. But I felt a little unsafe. Initially, the door wouldn’t lock behind me (good thing I checked), the screws on the door stopper seemed not very steady, there were 3 police cars patrolling the area at 10ish at night, I smell pot outdoors, and shower pressure noise was loud for a long while. But I see a couple with a little girl next door so maybe it’s ok for others.

Everything was bad. Cleanliness, very noisy in front of door. Even if it’s free don’t stay there. That’s why we booked another hotel in Berkeley and moved out from there.

The lock on our room did not and ultimately lock my family and the hotel manager in the room. The window on this first floor was nailed shut. It was a fire hazard. We left within 1 hour once the got the maintenance person to get the door open.

I enjoyed the location because of its easy access to the freeway. Someone was yelling loudly outside of the building around 2:30 am.

The location is convenient, but in a sketchy area. As soon as we opened the door to our room, there was a strong weed smell despite it being a “no smoking room.” The gentleman at the front desk was accommodating. He gave us a key to a new room. However, that had a faint smell of cigarettes. We went back to the front desk and he offered to use air freshener. We ended up leaving to stay elsewhere.

The staff was very friendly parking security The room has horrible lighting the beds were not comfortable sketchy area rooms need remodel, first night was fine but second night there was gun shots the third night there was a physical fight outside my door at 2AM my kids were woken up and were scared if you can I recommend just spending more and getting another hotel it’s not worth the value. The rooms were clean but they need a remodel the paint is coming off the walls the fabric on the headboard was coming off the flooring is stained and chipped the bathroom looked like it got the landlord special walls are so thin I can hear peoples conversations perfectly so sleep was pretty hard I had to put a sound machine for my kids to be able to sleep if your looking for a quick pit stop this place is great but if your going to stay a couple days with kids I don’t recommend staff was great though

The room was decent and it was nice have free breakfast. We arrived and our room was given to another person who the front desk claimed had the exact same name, only later to find out that was not true. It took about 45 mins before we actually got the room we paid for only because someone canceled there booking. I would not stay here again.

Filthy room. Floors hadn't been mopped in what looked like years. Strong smell of Marijuana as soon as we opened the door. Staff was average. Not very friendly, but not rude. Parking was spacious and nice. Although we were afraid to leave anything in our car. Pretty rough neighborhood.

Location to where my event was is good. On the outside the property looks pretty nice and inside it was clean. The room decor was shabby. Lamp shades wouldn’t stay straight. USB outlets were torn out of their socket. Lighting was poor, except for the bedside reading lamp, which was good. The main problem was that there was a noise, kind of like an electric sander in the ceiling, that lasted day and night, making it difficult to sleep. I should have requested another room right away.

My intention is not to disparage the hotel, but simply to provide a few details regarding areas they could fix to improve. 1. The hotel claims to be a Best Western—and it is evident that it once was—yet they are using photographs from that era for both the lobby and the guest rooms; the current reality, however, is far removed from those images. 2. The staff member who assisted us was polite; in fact, they switched my room because the original one reeked of cigarette smoke, despite the entire hotel having a strict non-smoking policy. 3. Aside from the smell of cigarette smoke—which was also present in the second room, albeit to a lesser extent—the room appeared clean at first glance; however, there were cobwebs, small bits of trash on the floor, and general grime. 4. There was excessive noise coming from both inside the hotel and the outside environment; loud, construction-like noises persisted throughout the entire night. 5. The entire hotel would benefit greatly from a fresh coat of paint. 6. I would recommend this hotel not for family trips, but rather for people working in construction who simply need a place to spend the night.

Room was clean, outside signage is dark and makes property appear closed or abandoned. One set of towels available in room. Front desk only had a large towel available, had to wait until 9am to get more. Late for work as a result.

This was a no frills room that’s rough around the edges & halfway remodeled. My room smelled of weed & was extremely loud. If you stay here choose a double queen or above to get away from the freeway entrance are as there is a constant flow of loud semi trucks coming from the port day and night. The room on the second floor I stayed in also had a humming/buzz like someone was cleaning the carpets or woodworking on the other side of the wall. Everything was fairly clean & the staff super friendly. Free breakfast is consistent & decent.

The location was near my business. It was clean, comfortable and had a large television screen. The pillows were okay but I brought along my own since I prefer feather pillows.

Bed was comfortable breakfast was OK Location was great. Only a few minutes from a park near the beach freeway access is very close. Need more rooms with roll in showers there is only one king size room with Rollin showers

There were three of us in the room, and after insisting they find something, they eventually managed to find only one towel that I had to go to the front desk to pick it up myself. Some bath items were not available, but housekeeping was very helpful to replace shampoo, and offer more coffee in the room. I smelled some smoke, at times, due to guest next door, not enough to complain for a one night stay. There is wear and tear about, outside and in, but the rates was very reasonable, I felt safe in my room, and the property is very close, walking distance fact, to a charming downtown Point Richmond, which I found so nice, plentiful, informative, excellent choice of food and art and the locals are very inviting to newcomers. I will return for more adventures, including hiking and photography.

The guy who checked me in was a little rude. But I think that was just his personality… I don’t like that this place didn’t accept cash deposits. I think it’s unfair to the people who might their money. Which is something you can tell this location has an issue with regularly. I didn’t care about my deposit. But the way they continued to overly explain it without me even addressing it myself, let me know this. I also didn’t like that they put me upstairs. All the empty rooms on the first floor… Why put me where people can see me coming in and out? I’m a female traveling alone…. Anyways It was quiet. Room was clean enough. Breakfast was okay.

This is a Motel six level motel masquerading as a Best Western. Breakfast was awful, don't park your car under the power line out back or it will be covered in bird turd. Also, you will hear everything the people in the adjoining room say- which means they will hear you. Crappy motel, not coming back.

Room did not look sanitary. The minute I walked in the room smelled almost like a moldy scent. The restroom was disgusting I did not shower because the shower looked filthy. I had to go to a friend that was staying at a different hotel and shower there. It was very unsafe there was people outside fighting and smoking weed. When I checked in the man couldn’t even explain to me exactly where my room was so I had to drive around until I found it! I would definitely NEVER stay here again. I was in town for a wedding and Saturday morning I had to take all of my stuff with me in my vehicle because of how unsafe the area was. I did not even want to go back to sleep there Saturday night but I only went because I had to check out Sunday morning. This places description is definitely deceiving!

When I checked in the man couldn’t even explain to me exactly where my room was so I had to drive around until I found it! I would definitely NEVER stay here again. I was in town for a wedding and Saturday morning I had to take all of my stuff with me in my vehicle because of how unsafe the area was. I did not even want to go back to sleep there Saturday night but I only went because I had to check out Sunday morning. This places description is definitely deceiving!

The pool was dirty with cigarettes packages among other things floating around and used diapers lying in the sitting area. Staff was outright rude. Rooms were dirty. We booked because of the affiliation with Best Western, a brand we used to trust. But after this experience we won’t make that mistake again.

We had to fight with the door to shut it. We were in and out of the room in less than 5 minutes and asking for a refund.

Traffic noises as well as other guests. Complimentary ear plugs provided. Friday night sounded like drag racing along the street; we felt uneasy but not unsafe. Sirens eventually chased everything away. The rooms and facilities are showing wear. The bed was big, comfortable, and changed daily. The location was great; just where we needed to be!

According to him, those 2 women Do Not stay at the hotel and were partying at another room....so he chased them from the property. They told him they thought the party was in my room....like really? I’m staying second time with my family first time service is better this time no towel no shampoo and conditioner they bring the towel not a clean dining area service is not good overall so so they can do better then the service they provide

I didn't tale photos, but the front desk is not friendly and rooms okay for price and location. Breakfast was okay. This hotel is for truck drivers not for families. Due to it being close to fwy.

The the big big man in the front desk doesn't have any personality . He is not suppose to be in the front desk. It's kind a depressing the area. The pool is dirty. No plate at the dinning area for the breakfast. It looks like there not happy at all.

This is the most disgusting place. The room was not cleaned had hair and dirt all over. The floor had red gum stuck to it. When i asked the front desk if they could clean the I was met with hostility.

The floor was so filthy our feet were black. I washed the floor myself and the towels were black after. I went to tell the staff, he said nothing but did give me the new towels I requested.

This best western was one of the worst I’ve ever stayed up. I have always been a fan of best Western hotels, but there was mold in the bathroom ceiling and tub. The floor was filthy, and when I stood on the towel to walk around, it was black on the bottom of the towel. The room smelt like cigarette smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. Would not stay there ever again.

The worst Best Western I have ever stayed at. Mold all over in the bathroom and ceiling. The floor was filthy. I think the best thing here was the name brand shampoo

I stayed here w my kids… I wish the pool and pool area was clean - the pool was dirty had sooo much dog hair… the room was clean. They only gave us 2 large towels for 4 of us - I had to ask for extra. Breakfast was good on the 2nd day. They had sausage and eggs. In the evening and following morning there was a really strong smell of cigarette and weed coming from the adjacent room next to us.

The front desk was almost never available in the front, always at the back. The lounge area, on Friday Morning, there was not enough food for all guest plus there was not enough large plates. We asked and the lady said. Oh its for 1st come first served basis. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Very good service but I feel like they're missing some details, like the bathtubs. But everything else is fine.

Overall, for the price a good stay. Some sketchy people walking around the property all afternoon and evening, some being told to leave then coming back immediately. Lots of garbage around the parking lot. Pool area and rooms nearby seemed nice and more welcoming. Breakfast was sufficient. Had to switch rooms twice because the first two smelled strongly of smoke. Staff we very nice and helpful. I would stay again for the price we paid.

We tried to check in early , cost us $40 , we had 3 rooms total So once we paid for one they let us know the others can check in , in a hour . Like, okay I guess we paid $40 already. Also requested extra blankets but didn’t get them, area wise kinda scary . And the vending machine scammed me .

This hotel is in a sketchy area and they do not close all of the gates at night. Yes, they do have cameras, but closing the gates. It would be a little bit more secure. The guy at the front desk at check-in never got up out of his chair. He rolled it around everywhere, he needed to go.

We asked for a non-smoking room at the time of booking.

Stay here if you must, but not if you can avoid it. The breakfast isn’t great as non-guests can access it and use their bare hands.

Room was comfortable and the staff was very nice and responsive to what I was asking. Breakfast is a solid 10👍. However, the area and the outdoor condition of property is poor. Need new blinds in the room for sure...

Probably the most problematic thing was the proximity of the train switching yard. The train yard was two blocks away, so quite a bit of noise.

Not much surrounding hotel but a few blocks away was a great bar and small shops. Room was great. Breakfast not the best but doable.

Two separate sets of keys would not open our first room. The maintenance worker had to let us in. The room smelled funny, almost like covered up smoke. The window shade was torn and falling apart and there were paint chips all over the window sill. Our second room was better but walls are thin. They had a sign that said “complimentary ear plugs” but there weren’t any. Noise was mostly coming from outside.

Remember how I told you where we stayed (Richmond) seemed “rough”? Even the room was ghetto like. The black out shades which covered the front window (no curtain) were torn, the microwave was broken, barely “any” water came out of the shower, the Kleenex box was empty of tissues, there was very little lighting in the room and too dark, they had no hand towels and only thin wash clothes and towels, blanket on bed was paper thin and frayed (I was cold all night). Also, there was no real shower, only an “area of the bathroom “supposedly indented” where you turn the shower head on. Consequently, water got over the whole bathroom floor! You also had to stand on uneven flooring to use sink, since next to shower area so half of the floor in front of sink was higher and half lower. And bathroom sink was cracked, and one office chair, no comfy chairs to sit in. Oh, and also when we checked in @10:15pm or so, besides paying for the room, they required a separate $50. payment in case we damage the room (which if we don’t they give back but obviously it will take a few days to get back into our account).

It was a lot busier this visit. Love staying here.

Terrible experience. My mother-in-law tripped and fell in the front office. Your floor panel in the front office is lifted. I will file a report. Your can check the camera.

The room was clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was okay. It had a good selection of items.

It was quiet and no problems, other units were very approachable.

We ended up not staying there. Because when we arrived the place looked like it was a homeless camp. But, we still tried to see if it was nicer on the inside. It was nicer but smelled like they used some kind of deodorant to cover the musky smell of mildew. Would not recommend to anyone until they clear up the smell, and the trash that is left all across the property.

Customer service was friendly. The property itself is very unkept, could use some cleaning and room itself needs some updating. The sheets were old as well as the curtains and everything in the room. Stayed here for a quick stop to rest over night.

We left within 10 minutes. The door didn’t lock and a sketchy man came to the door trying to get in. The electricity was flickering and the inside of the room was filthy. Definitely not for families.

Its a cozy enough spot. A little loud being that it's right off the freeway but that's to be expected. The room was clean enough considering the price however they could really work on their beds. They make a strange metal noise when you sit or get up

No napkins in the dining room. No Kleenex in any of the rooms. Front desk is variably, friendly, depending who was there. Also, ended up next to her man who was wheelchair bound, by himself and very sick. Ambulance was called out in the middle of the night. Apparently he had been there for some time and had an extended stay even after the ambulance was called out. Probably, should not have been given the room directly next door We were in the hotel for four nights.
