Desiree Heveroh rescued an old Veteran who had a bad day basically. She has mad people skills and should get a raise! Thanks to Carmen and Anna for a spotless room! Absolutely recommend the Hotel Mac! Very thoughtfully appointed! Best stay in the Bay! Outstanding area food and shops and parking. Laid back, easy does it! Sweet back porch! Treat yourself! And thanks again, Desiree!

I’ve stayed here many times, but never in a suite. It was so big and beautifully decorated. It is truly an amazing place!

I love this historic hotel in Point Richmond. It honestly feels like home to me as I’ve been there so many times. With contactless entry, it’s private and simple to use. It’s in the heart of point Richmond where there are many local shops and restaurants to walk to. We love it here and would not stay anywhere else in this area.

Complimentary cookies and apples. Decent coffee. Interesting neighborhood. Hit all the essentials.

Spacious room with a nice patio and bathroom
- 4/5
Lovely patio/deck but gets a lot of sun so it would be nice if there was an umbrella over the table. Otherwise we were very satisfied with the accommodations in the lovely town of Point Richmond.

The restaurant that is at the property is a separate entity but part of the building and is nice. Dinner is great. Breakfast needs work. $94.00 for seafood omelette that was good and biscuits and gravy and sausage and eggs that was not so good. Staff was nice.

I've been staying at the Mac for several years when I visit the Bay Area. I appreciate the upgrades that have been done over that time, such as a better HVAC system in the original hotel, and adding a fridge and microwave to those original rooms. The contactless check-in always works great, and the gated parking is very convenient (and included with the room price). I love staying in Pt Richmond which has good restaurants just a short walk from the hotel, and the beach a slightly longer walk or drive away. The community theater is also very fun! It's a quiet, peaceful and artsy little town.

Staff was great, the bar downstairs is nice and the food is good. It has changed ownership so not what we were expecting but it was still a decent stay. The rooms were very clean. The soft towels and robes were a nice touch. The TVs were tiny and the one in our living room was in a cabinet that the doors blocked. It was impossible to watch unless you move the TV to table in the room. Each room is significantly different in design but if they have multiple available they will let you see and choose. I wish they were all a but more the aesthetic of our room which was vintage but felt more designed while others were a little kitchy and dark.

Weve stayed here twice now and have had nothing but great experiences bot times. The staff is friendly, the rooms are lovely, the hotel is clean, the restaurant located below is very good, and the area is nice and filled with everything you could need.

We arrived in the dark and had trouble finding our way. No fault of The Mac, more of a senior citizen problem. They were very responsive on the phone and help us find our way. I so appreciated the excellent service and the room and the bathroom were beautiful and comfortable. Excellent shower, Senior citizen accessible.

As for service, with only one service person who can't be available 24/7/365, it is hard to receive the service needed. On the one day we asked for room cleaning, the cleaning staff missed our room. We came back to the room after a really long day and wanted to shower but had no clean towels. We had to wait until 10:30pm to receive clean towels. This isn't a service rep or cleaning issue; these are all management issues, which is unfortunate.

Wonderful historic hotel in the Pt Richmond area. It’s charming, clean, and walkable to many nearby shops and restaurants. It is my absolute favorite place to stay in this area.
- 2/5
The town is very cute. Feels like a time travel or Midwest. Unfortunately, the employee who works as the greeter needs a refresher in hospitality. Overall it’s an outdated and over-priced place to spend the night.
- 5/5
This was a lovely stay in a darling town. The room was super clean and cozy. We felt very safe and comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is making sure you call the hotel if you have any special request at all, and to make sure you have check in instructions . Do not just message through an app. It is a contactless hotel, so it felt more like an air BNB than a hotel in regard to communication. There is no front desk, etc. It is an excellent place to stay!
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
We only stayed one night, but loved our stay. We used self-check in and parked in the gated lot. The room was clean and nice and we walked to breakfast the next day.
- 1/5
The entire experience was strange parking across the street a code to get in the building a code to get in the door no Front Desk no Staff, the manager was in the hospital apparently managing the phones. I asked how to start the fireplace and she said it was just for looks then during her texting was completely rude. No customer service and I will never stay there again.

No breakfast. Wasn't expecting one. This is a very interesting hotel. We stayed in the Annex, which is a little hard to find. It does not look impressive from the outside but the interior decor is beautiful and unusual with high ceilings, wood panelling, a nice sitting room and eating area, brand new bathroom with marble floors. Compared to what you get for twice as much in Berkeley, or SF, it's a good deal. We needed a clearer idea of where the annex is in relation to the main building. Finding the parking lot in the dark is also difficult. The shower door in our room did not close properly and so water leaked out all over the bathroom floor.

A lovely hotel! So comfy, clean, and beautifully decorated. I enjoyed the restaurant downstairs and cafes in the neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

This place was quaint and very clean. the bed was comfortable and had great little details around the space.

Very happy customer.

We arrived at night and it was a little bit hard to find our unit. However, once we got in, it was very nice. Just be sure to read your instructions all the way through before you get there and it will be much easier.

This hotel has three closely-located buildings; the original hotel and then two large-ish buildings across the street which you access from a different avenue (Railroad Avenue). We stayed in the closer Annex building, which appears to have three guest rooms. Our room was perfect, clean, and quiet — even with the railroad running parallel to Railroad Avenue. Two free bottles of water; auto-cup coffee/tea, kitchenette. Very comfortable and cozy room. Recommended that they provide more than the single roll of toilet paper which was already opened and out - could not find another one inside the room. i suspect the room attendant missed that accidentally. Great shower. Comfy bed. I would not recommend the limited-space gated parking; just find some street parking. There is ample street parking on the Railroad Ave side for the two other buildings; parking is sketchy because homeless folks live in the cars in the ample parking, and spend the day tinkering - they were not intrusive, but it was something we were not accustomed to seeing. There is no hotel lobby per se - they do “contactless entry”. We received an email with door and room codes and only communicated with staff through text. Early check in and late check in are available for additional fees, which you may be charged for if you use your door code earlier than check in at 3 pm or after checkout at 11 am, unless you have advance permission. We would stay here again, despite the learning curve.

Nice, clean, and surprisingly beautiful room! The restaurant is also amazing!
- 5/5
Very nice and clean room. Comfortable! Everything was contactless, so I never saw anyone.

It is in a cute part of Richmond, an area we'd never explored before. Lots of interesting shops. The room was narrow with only one window, so despite a tall ceiling, it felt claustrophobic. A skylight was undoubtedly created to open things up, but for me, it just introduced light directly toward my eyes, interrupting my sleep. Others may find it just fine.

This is the second time we have stayed there and a few things need to be fixed. Unfortunately the fireplace did not work and that was half the reason we booked that particular room. The TV in the bedroom is way to small and does not have the same channels that the living room TV has. Both remotes needed batteries. The bedroom wall socket cover fell off when my husband went to plug in his phone charger and on the other side of the bed both sockets were full, no place to plug in a charger or anything else. Restaurant was wonderful though.
- 4/5
A cozy room in an historic hotel. Very spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely restaurant right downstairs. The hotel is in the middle of a cute Main Street. Would stay again!
- 1/5
The hotel rooms are not actually at the address they give, they provide the real address on your check in date. The actual address is on a sketchy street riddled with homeless people along train tracks. I arrived alone at night and outside of my room was a man in a ski mask staring at me as I tried to gather my things. Terrified, I went to the restaurant they own in tears trying to figure out what to do. A host at the restaurant got in my car and drove with me to the other building to escort me in. Totally uncomfortable, but very nice of him to help me. There is no front desk or onsite hotel staff and it does not feel safe. It is extremely loud, as trains pass by outside your window all night long. The walls are dirty, the vents are caked with dust, the bed was so hard and uncomfortable, the phone and refrigerator do not work. The hotel will charge you a cleaning fee for pets even though they don’t tell you about this until after the fact. They claim to be pet friendly but there is a secret set of rules they don’t divulge. Hilariously, my dog is a service dog who absolutely left no trace and they are illegally trying to charge a cleaning fee for him being there. I am taking legal action. An all around nightmare of a place that tries to profit by using the “gotcha” business model. The receptionist finds joy in being an awful human being.

The convenience of staying at this hotel is amazing
- 3/5
Room had a lot of rotted wood around the baseboards. Heater took very long to warm up room. But the bed was comfortable! Very convenient check in. Just needs some TLC
- 3/5
The room was very clean. Some maintenance attention: There were a few burned out lights bulbs, carpet stains, shower door didn’t shut leaving a space for water to leak out. There was a kuerig coffee maker on the desk. However, there was no way to plug it in. I had to move it to a different location in the room to plug it in. The entrance door to the Annex needs maintenance attention. It does not shut and lock properly which is a security concern. If you don’t mind loud train noises, this is the room for you. They do leave earplugs for you in the room.
- 5/5
We enjoyed a lovely dinner at BiamcoVerde, then a wonderful play at Masquers, stayed in a beautiful room, then enjoyed breakfast across the street, and shopping around town. Four thumbs up!
- 5/5
There are several properties associated with Hotel Mac. We were in the Annex which was a very nice well kept building. It is near a railyard so there was some noise related to that. The hotel provided earplugs which neither myself nor my husband used and we both slept well.
- 4/5
Pros: ambience (charming), on site gated parking, location, on site Italian restaurant and bar, comfortable bed. Cons: no in-room temperature contol that worked, small( (28") TV with no high def, no person to talk to.

Our third stay here at this cute hotel for an annual overnight bike trip. We like the gated parking lot and close restaurants options. We previously stayed in main hotel and carriage house; were in Annex 202 this time. Room size is perfectly fine, but a much smaller bathroom in this 'economy' room. Stairs to room have two 90 degree turns, so if you have heavy or big items, consider a different room. AC struggled on a very hot (near 100). Our room was 87 degrees when we arrived at 5pm, and was still 82 at 9pm when we returned from dinner with it on full blast. Very nice that ear plugs are provided, but the train noise seemed less loud than our previous stays. As usual, the contactless instructions were complete and very clear. If it is your first stay make sure to read thoroughly as there is no front desk.

My daughter lives very close to the Hotel in Point Richmond so it was convenient. Room was clean, comfortable bed and I enjoyed the coffee in the morning. The directions and keypad codes were clear. It was nice to walk to everything...restaurants, cafe, shoping etc. Cute town! I was in the Annex part of the hotel right next to the train tracks. The train was unbelievably loud and seemed to stop for sometime. I understood why the hotel owner left ear plugs. I did use them.
- 5/5
I will definitely be staying here again!

One room was not cleaned when we arrive

My daughter and I stayed here for a night and we were delighted by the nautical theme of our room, the spaciousness, cleanliness, and coziness. It was such a bright, welcoming, and comfortable space that we wished we were staying longer. The hotel was incredibly accommodating, too, when we needed to ask for something extra. It was a bit of a splurge for us but everything was so easy and pleasant--it was totally worth it.

Spacious beautiful comfortable room. So easy to get around and lovely areas to explore nearby. Good communication between us and property management
- 3/5
No interaction with any staff except via text. Parking was in a gated parking area a block away, not very convienent when hauling several bags. You are given 4 different codes - parking lot car gate, parking lot pedestrian gate, hotel main entrance and room door. I am glad when I first left the room I checked to see if my door was locked when I closed it...it wasnt. Took me a bit to figure it out, but I had to press a button on the inside of the door for for to lock. This is an important piece of info that should be given in advance. I could have easily walked away with my door unlocked. Although the parking lot was gated, there were no security cameras visible anywhere. Neighboring parking lots had them. The gated area would be very easy to jump and therefore break in and steal your vehicle. It is a false sense of security. No where to unload at the hotel unless you double park and risk a ticket. You need a code to get in the main hotel door, but the neighboring restaurant has direct access and the elevator is not a keyed, so again a false sense of security. I cannot recommend this hotel and will not stay here again.

It would be nice if there was a reception or someone to talk to. Having to call someone is not as convenient and staff was not always friendly or helpful. Nice to be able to walk to coffee shop and restaurants. Overall recommend the place!
- 4/5
Room was very clean and check in and communication was excellent. The only complaint would be the shower. There wasn’t a tub, so when you showered, the floor would get all wet. Walls are thin, so you were able to hear other guests quite well. Area is really cute with lots of shop and places to eat within walking distance.

I was disappointed that we asked for a room with a fireplace and we got it, but it didnt work. I never saw anywhere on line while reserving, that the fireplace was inoperable. Our room was lovely and we enjoyed our stay and would stay again! How can I order a couple Hotel Mac coffee nugs? Those are awesome!!

Another great stay at the Mac!! Centrally located. Extremely clean and great staff. The restaurant below and bar is extremely good. Highly recommend.

To many gate codes. Room was pleasant to be in. Manager could have been more helpful. Housekeeping staff were very courteous and helpful. To much train noise.

Close to the Baltic Kiss!

Very comfortable with a full kitchen
- 5/5
Very clean, well-appointed room. The staff/management were great about communicating with me (via both email and text) the check-in procedures (altered a bit because of COVID). And they graciously allowed me to check in early when I arrived ahead of schedule. When I go back to Richmond, The Mac will be my top choice for a place to stay.
- 5/5
- gorgeous, tiny period hotel, only 10 rooms. Rooms were comfortable and nicely-appointed with period furnishings. Coffeemaker and fridge, both big plusses. - terrific Italian restaurant and bar. - great location right in the heart of Point Richmond. The bad: - management is pitiful, and that's charitable. The hotel is run by a manager who lives in the hotel. We apparently mortally offended her by asking to check in early, although we told her we were OK with waiting if we could drop off our bags. - a few hours later, when we were able to check in, we used the door code to enter the hotel. We weren't sure where to go (it's not marked), so we asked a housekeeper where the office was. She pointed to a door. We knocked, and the manager opened the door a few inches and said, "This is my personal residence. Why are you here?" I told her we hadn't paid yet. She insisted Expedia had paid, and since we had no interest in spending any more time with this person, we left. - I asked for noon checkout instead of 11, and unsurprisingly got a speech about how this couldn't be done. - at 11.00am and 3 seconds, the housekeeper knocked. We told her we had called an Uber and would be out soon. Clearly the manager had her knock at exactly 11 to make a point. She did. We will never return to the Hotel Mac, and will tell anyone who will listen that (1) this is a terrific place and (2) its management is so bad that it's not worth the effort.

Great place to stay, close to family & great eating
- 5/5
The room was large, clean and well-appointed Several interesting businesses are close by.. No check-in staff.
- 5/5
Cute, clean room with modern updates yet smalltown charm in walkable neighborhood with tons of character, food and hospitality. Highly recommend the Kaleidiscope cafe for coffee and pastries! I did not park or drive so I can't comment on those amenities. It is near railroad so if you are a light sleeper then may have issues although ear plugs were provided!
- 4/5
The room wasn’t ready at 3pm they were cleaning until 4:30. Every thing else was good.
- 4/5
The building and interior hallways are beautiful – it's historic decor is fantastic and well up-kept, quite a view like no other. The images in the listing are as what you'd expect (though for my booking there was a slight mis-match with the actual room, had no fireplace). Check-in was a tad bumpy (decidedly, it was partly my fault). I didn't recognize beforehand that the process was contactless – a text message sent all the information I needed. The manager did try to call and left a voicemail but I was in an area with no service thus missing the notifications. Did attempt to call both property phone numbers but did not get through until I realized. Amenities were spot-on with plentiful of standard expected items like quality bedding, linen and other appliances such as a safe, iron, fan and drinks (e.g. Keurig and pods). Toiletries were provided too albeit on a more limited basis (toothbrushes were not provided). Entertainment was streaming but the property WiFi was slow (works tho). Around the neighborhood there's a lot of small, local businesses with a friendly community. Didn't get to explore too much as I was just passing through while traveling. I understood the manager was unavailable during my stay due to a personal matter. The experience thus wasn't all perfect but I hope things can get better and love to come back again.
- 4/5
This is a nice neighborhood, close to good resaurants
- 3/5
Glad that the restaurant on the ground floor has reopened so you can go down to enjoy their AC and have a drink. Room 306 overlooks the parking lot, and has only one window that opens. Since it was unusually hot during our stay, we attempted to turn on the AC using the thermostat in the room which showed it at 81 degrees. When we sent a text to ask about the AC we learned there isn't any, "use the fan in the closet and open the window" was the reply. The TV is a streaming service, so finding local news is not so easy. Also due to limited electric plugs, if you plan to stay here bring a power strip and be prepared to move the furniture and unplug other things (the alarm clock) so you can charge phones and computers. This place must have a problem with trespassers and theft of items in the rooms - we received a stern warning with our check-in instructions that "all items are inventoried during room turnover and any missing items will be charged to your credit card", also "do not let anyone follow you inside - if they say they forgot their check-in code, tell them to ring the doorbell for help." The gated parking lot had two vagrants sitting inside the lot hanging out. We were informed by a friend who lives nearby that they are "regulars" who roam the streets.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel in a very interesting part of Richmond. Near the ferry to San Francisco. Hotel has convenient parking and nice, clean rooms. I also liked the check-in process, which was done via texts and codes.
- 5/5
Great stay, comfy room, awesome shower.

Got a suite, very continental american furniture. A beauty.
- 5/5
It is a period hotel in wonderful downtown Pt. Richmond. There is a nice sandwich breakfast place across thw street, two mexican restaurants, and an italian restaurant opening soon in the same building. The Baltic Kiss has live music and a good bar with good food as well. It is a convenient place to have friends stay coming into town to see music locally and not drive after.
- 5/5
This is our second time at this hotel. We found it by chance last year on a road trip and sought it out again this year on a road trip to look at California colleges. Hotel Mac is a historical hotel with so much charm and character. It is so refreshing to avoid chain hotels and find gems like this. Check in is contactless and easy to navigate with free, convenient parking. The town is walkable and the charm continues there. In a short outing to find dinner, my family saw people going into a play, heard live music and had several choices for dinner including Thai, a taqueria, pizza and a pub. The hotel is very quiet with spacious rooms. We had everything we needed with classic decor and a keurig machine. It was clean with a lovely view of the town. Little Louie’s across the street was delightful for breakfast. Hotel Mac is a diamond in the rough!
- 4/5
The pullout couch in the kitchenette area should be replaced with something more comfortable because the bar is extremely hard to sleep with. Bedding in the master could be replaced: we’ve stayed three times in the past two and a half years and it’s been the same pillows and comforters. Also a bedside sconce lamp has had black tape around it for the same amount of time. Bedside phone does not work so why not remove it since we do everything with our cells anyway?!? The area with restaurants and bars is very walkable and has some quaint little shops to peruse.
- 4.5/5
Great, quiet location for a reasonable rate for the Bay Area. We were warned about the noise from the train station across the street from our section of the hotel but it wasn't much of a nuisance.
- 5/5
Very cute room. Hotel had a nice vintage look and feel and was very clean. Check in and check out was automated and very easy.
- 1/5
We were asked to leave after giving an honest descriptions of the property such as smoked smell in the room which caused us to leave the window open which added loud noise of the train running next the property. Also, what we saw such as a drunk and homeless person next the property. A person who refused give out her name said that they can't help what's outside such as train tacks or the homeless people. We were not asking for the change we simply described the real things we saw which is standard things when you write the reviews. So, they only want the stellar reviews and if not, they will say "this is not for you".
- 5/5
Really cool cottage feel. Clean, cozy and recently upgraded. However several blinds were broken. I was on ground level off a side street. Anyone could walk along the side of the house and fully watch me inside. I had to cover them with towels. Hotel failed to disclose its right next to a train track. Loud trains all night. But, I would stay again if they fix the blinds.
- 5/5
Our room was so clean, comfortable and was easy to get everywhere we wanted and needed to in the area. We are planning on staying there again!
- 4/5
Nice room. Small but comfortable. It felt like a cozy B&B.
- 4/5
Nice place, clean and in good working order. Would be even better if they offered some bottled water on the room. That would seem a reasonable expectation for the price level.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and spotless room with lovely little touches. Contactless check-in instructions were straightforward and we had no issues with anything during our stay. We look forward to staying at hotel Mac again in the future.
- 1/5
It was supposed to be my 3year wedding anniversary!:( My husband and I left the place and went back home.
- 5/5
The rooms are perfect and adorable. The sheets are so so so soft, the beds are so insanely comfortable that I had trouble getting out of them. Very homey and comfortable! You feel safe and at home when you’re there. The area is scary at night but that’s not the hotel’s fault. Everything about the hotel is great!
- 5/5
My only complaint is that the lovely fireplace did not work. I knew it was going to be a rainy day and really looked forward to sitting in front of it. Either do not mention there is a fireplace or else out state in the description that it is merely decorative.
- 4/5
Nice room very spacious n loved the tub and my view... A bit costly... The only problem i had with my stay was the price of it.
- 5/5
the suite in the annex building was amazing! staff/owner was extremely responsive and helpful with everything. parking and location was easy access to point Richmond. had a great time and would definitely stay in that room again!
- 4/5
Check in did not go well. This was our first stay at Mac since the epidemic. We (two couples) we're unfamiliar with checkin policies so we rang bell for help at the outside door. A lady came and seemed put out to have to help us decipher the email instructions. She was very condescending toward us. When my wife pointed this out we were told we should stay elsewhere! WHAT!? We just needed help with email instructions. We did get checked in. Rm 201 was beautifully remodeled and had a kitchenette with coffee maker, fridge, and micro. Very nice. Friends stayed in original Mac building. They had no coffee maker, and NO HEAT. A portable heater was provided after they complained. We stay in the area 4-6 times a year with 2 to 3 couples. I would think the Mac could use the rental of an extra 8 to 18 rooms a year.
- 2.5/5
Very nice and comfortable room in Point Richmond. It’s super noisy at night because the train track is very close and trains go all the time. In the morning when trains stopped the local maintenance worker started blowing leaves right under our window. It would be appreciated if he can postpone his activity and do it later.

We stayed in the Annex. It was a nicely decorated and comfortable space. The neighborhood felt safe and is very walkable. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Room 307 was fabulous. Loved the neighborhood. Excellent Thai restaurant down the street.

Lovely accommodations

We arrive late and room was located off site. Small room and small bathroom. There is no refrigerator or coffee maker and tea pot. I had a problem getting inside of building and I could not find anyone to help me. Do not trust reviews. I will never return

No breakfast available at the hotel. Breakfast across the street --at Little Joe's -- was very good. There was no heat in the rooms.

I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Mac. Check-in/out were super easy and contactless. Parking was right next to the hotel in a gated lot which I appreciated. I was staying there alone and I felt very safe. Cute area to walk around in and less than a ten minute walk to the water to enjoy the sunset.

We stayed in the Annex Suite and it was clean and well appointed. Very comfortable for family of 4. Nice kitchen and small patio. We didnt cook because there were too many great local places for food and drink to walk to. Very affordable, unique hotel with gated secure parking.

Really well equipped cute room in the Carriage House, with a comfortable bed, great shower, good area for walking to the little town for shopping and dining. The only thing I would have liked is a plug in kettle to make tea, for those of us who don’t drink coffee. Overall very good experience!

Hotel is a delightfully throw back to simpler times.

There was no coffee in the room BUT you walk out the door turn right and walk right in the back door of Little Louies Cafe, good coffee and lots of treats.

I expected a lot from the reviews that I read online and we were very pleased with our room and the property overall. We’re planning another stay in about 3 weeks

Beautiful comfortable room & good entry instructions texted to me before arrival
- 5/5
Instructions for getting into the room were emailed, and the contactless entry worked seamlessly The area of Port Richmond feels like a small town, and was very pleasant to walk around. The room we stayed in (HighCliff) was a delight. There was no food available at the hotel (restaurant no longer open), but there are a couple of small neighborhood grocery stores nearby and several eateries nearby for dining in or take out. The room had a fridge which was nice, but unfortunately the ice maker fridge at the end of the hall was comepletely frosted over and unusable. We cycled to the property so we did not use the parking area.

Nicely appointed room.

I must admit the situation was a result of my own error. The emailed instructions were thorough but they were also a little challenging to read. When we arrived we erroneously parked in the green gated lot behind the hotel. After putting in the code the gate opened but we had not realized it was due to a tenant leaving at the same time. After parking and trying to exit the parking lot, we realized we could not get out and had become trapped in the gated lot! I reached out to the Hotel Mac number provided and they promptly called me. This is the only part of the Hotel Mac experience that was not phenomenal. The person on the other line (the Hotel Mac representative) preceded to tell me that I clearly did NOT read the instructions emailed to me and that they clearly stated where to park. I must admit I was taken aback by the condescending tone and way the individual was speaking to me. I asked if we could start over, apologized for my mistake, asked them to please refrain from telling me what I did wrong and if they would please help us get out of the parking lot. They agreed to help us but only after they finished what they were saying (condemning me for not reading the instructions) and then quickly said they needed to get off the phone and call me back. We figured it out and I let them know via text. READ the instructions!!😊

It's set up so you never see the staff at all. You can text for help if necessary, but there's no one around to answer questions.

I loved it here. Contactless check in, very quiet and the room was super cute. I would definitely stay here again. It’s an older building but it had a lot of character and a good vibe. My one complaint is our AC wasn’t working and it was seriously hot in that room. The room came with a portable fan but I forgot it was in the closet until the next morning😭. I look forward to coming back.

this property is a hidden Gem!! very room is immaculate and charming with unique decor! Such a bargain and the hospitality was 5 Star! great service and local village charm

We stayed at their carriage house property, across the street from the main hotel. Quaint property in a quaint neighborhood-nicely appointed. Their contactless check-in was perfect and everything was ready for our arrival. You can hear the trains nearby, but that was something we felt that just added to the charm of not being in downtown SF with all of the city noise. Very enjoyable stay and we look forward to returning on our next trip to the bay area.

cool old bldg and the off site rooms were great as well. Nice parking for guest staying.

This hotel is a gem, clean as can be, and great rooms!

Quaint, private, beautifully furnished.

We stayed in the Carriage House Annex and it was really nice. It is across the street from a rail yard and when the window is open, it can get loud, but closing the window solves that. Would stay here again the next time we're in the Bay Area. Great little neighborhood, with great places to eat, including Little Louie's steps from the front door.

Very nice and cute property and room. I only wish we could have spent a little more quality time to enjoy it even more. Unfortunately we arrived late in the evening after a long all day event in Napa. We would certainly recommend Hotel Mac to anybody wishing a nice place to stay. Perhaps we can return someday. Thank you to Desiree who assisted our late arrival.

The stay was wonderful! My family visited from out of town plus out of State to celebrate my wedding day. The historic hotel was perfect!

Great little boutique hotel! Clean, well kept up, nice sized room and bathroom. Reasonably priced. Bed was comfortable. Would gladly stay again

Repeat visitors to this charming place.this time the room was a bit noisy (room 202 in the Annex)... toilet was gurgling and heater system was running even if i turned down the thermostat. But we will come back again, and try another room.

The studio was nice and spacious. Clean and big bathroom too. However, my room was right on the train yard and it was really noisy even in the middle of the night. There is no reception either and you get a code to enter by email.

I don't text. Upon arrival at 7:00 pm, there was no one on site. The first phone # told me to text for directions. The next one got me a person who told me she had texted me the day before. She walked us into the hotel and to what she said was our room; it was already occupied. She corrected that. She was very helpful. If you require knowledge of texting to check-in, you should tell people that.

Management was very accommodating and able to store my suitcase for a few hours. If you want coffee, you’ll need to go to one of the nearby shops in town. Hotel Mac is a favorite when visiting the Bay Area.

Charming historic hotel. Beautifully renovated. It is a classic that we will visit again and again.
