Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and convenient location. However, there are recurring complaints about parking difficulties and issues with room amenities such as air conditioning and furniture.

Let’s start with this being a $325 room in RENO. When I walked in the room, it had an odd smell. It turns out there was an unflushed turd in the toilet. Then I left quickly to report to the front desk and the elevator got stuck with me in it for 10 minutes. They offered lounge access as the “apology.” Oh, and the TV would not turn on either.
- 4/5
Parking was poor. Need access to be on the north west corner of the garage closest to the hotel. To walk all of the way to the far side of the garage to get on the elevator is ridiculous.

We lived that our dog was very welcome and he even got a little goodie bag. We also really enjoyed the restaurant attached to the hotel. Parking was also very easy to walk to. One of our keys didn't work and made the elevator difficult to use but other than that nothing.

We loved that we could bring our doggies as they are part of our family! The staff is wonderful, even providing you with a goodie bag for each pet. The rooms were beautiful, we stayed up on the hospitality level and thoroughly enjoyed the evening happy hour and morning coffee/snacks. The location was perfect, and the rooms were modern and clean. There really wasn’t anything that we didn’t like about the property! Everything was great! I will mention that they do have events that can be a bit loud. If you are concerned about that, just make sure you are above the fourth floor and you won’t hear it.

The staff not friendly!!! I pay for continental breakfast didn’t receive the passes. The food is very bad in the service. Terrible. I would not come back to the place anymore for the price. It was ridiculous. The location and the day that we check out, we had a walk like three blocks for a parking lot with our luggage. They didn’t offer the shuttle.

Paid top dollar for a hotel that only had a gym a cheap restaurant and roc climbing… I changed hotels stayed at the peppermill for the same price it had several restaurants… pool/spa, gambling machines, multiple bars, lots of extras… I felt I was ripped off and over charged for a hotel that offered nothing like the rest of the Reno hotels do… I would compare it to a more 6 with a ihop next to it

Walking distance to Reno Ballroom which I’m going to attend an event. Room is huge. There was a welcome message with my name on it on tv screen when I entered the room. So warm ☺️. Bathroom is very clean, updated, and nice. Staff is helpful. I originally booked for 2 queen bed for me and my daughter but the receptionist is very nice to change to a King for myself only. They have rock climbing both indoors and outdoor and the outdoor one is very impressive. Nothing

I’ve stayed at WP four times in the past few years. The rooms are always clean, linens, fresh, hallways and elevators clean. This is a dog-friendly hotel, but you don’t remember that until you see a dog. That’s just how clean this hotel is. The only negative is that there are no microwaves in the rooms. You would have to use the one in the lobby. This hotel is a few steps from the Row (El Dorado-Silver Legacy-Circus Circus) and a block from Cal-Neva so it’s in a convenient location.

Nice well-run hotel close to the Amtrak station. Staff were very helpful. I had dinner and breakfast at the cafe and both were excellent. The staff there were also quite professional. I was generally very happy with my experience there.

The property has been updated recently and it shows! The decor was modern and fun, and when we walked in, it smelled good. Being connected to an amazing restaurant and bar also helped! The bed was comfy, and I appreciated the 11 a.m. checkout (10 a.m. checkouts suck). While there I kept commenting that we need to do this more often. I feel like for Reno overall, which is a free parking kind of town, when you're a guest at the hotel plus staying for dinner, valet should be free.
- 4/5
We were scheduled to have an executive room and we brought our dog and I told them we were but she. We got there they said we can only stay on the regular room with our dog. This is frustrating because they knew we had a dog and didn’t tell us before and had to be in a standard room.

Whitney Peak is a top-notch hotel with a great vibe, delicious food, and cocktails, and huge clean and well appointed room. They love pets too! Everyone was so friendly! Only wish they had a pool.

Whitney Peak was amazing. The hotel is super clean, the rooms are really nice, and the location is perfect if you want to walk around downtown Reno. The staff was friendly and everything felt really comfortable and easy. I also loved the vibe of the place, it feels modern but still really relaxed. Definitely one of the best places I’ve stayed in Reno and I would 100% come back.

Room was musty upon check in don’t think anything of it told hubby to turn on the air. We stayed at that hotel due to a wedding. After the wedding at 11pm the room wouldn’t get colder than 71. We had a few drinks tried to go to sleep, figuring eventually the room would cool. The pillows sucked they seem fluffy until you put your head on it and it goes completely flat. Try layering two, then it’s too much. By 1am my husband was so uncomfortable and so was I we decided to just go back home. Went to the front told them about the AC and that we just wanted to go and were disappointed since we came for a wedding and it was a night away from the kids. The front desk lady seemed like she didn’t care, she said ok I’ll have someone check the air when I’m done with my audit. Meanwhile there is a RAVE happening! We Couldn’t hear it on our 8th floor room but leaving the hotel at 1 am trying to go down the sidewalk that had tons of people wasn’t that great. This is my second time here and sadly I won’t be back. Our room this time had a working toilet fan but the time before (1 month prior to this visit) the fan didn’t work and the fan in the brides suite also didn’t work, which isn’t fun if you have a nervous poo plus people trying to get ready.

The bed was comfortable, staff was nice and quick to any issues, and loved that they had a dog park - not something you see at hotels. Oh and that was such a cool gym they had wish I had a chance to use it. I think that they are quite expensive. They really should put a disclaimer that they charge for dogs with or without ESA letter. I recall being told by another Hilton hotel that all hiltons are not allowed to look at your letter or question as long as you have it checked off you don’t have to pay. So to have a surprise $75 charge is probably the reason I wouldn’t stay again since I travel with my pup a lot.

My kid got stuck on an elevator The window in our room was stuck open, and it was 8° outside, so our room was colder then crap. It took maintenance forever to figure it out so our room was absolutely freezing in the restaurant. Service was absolutely trash. The guy with the ponytail was rude as all can be and so slow, so overall, it was a pretty crappy experience.

Valet team and our Bellman were amazing! Top notch customer service and valet team was able to get my car in and out quickly multiple times during our stay. Front desk staff were also very friendly and accommodating. We love this hotel and they allow us to bring our pets. There is a draft coming through the windows but it is an older building.

Clean, attractive quiet hotel with very comfortable rooms and friendly staff. We had our dog with us and they were very accommodating and kind. There is a mini dog park on the next block so you don’t have far to go to potty your dog. It was quiet There is no sitting are to visit with friends.

Entering our room we thought it was very clean and spacious and decor was modern simple and perfect! We had a great view of Eldorado an even loved that our room was right next to the water station and ice machine. Felt like we had a quick and easy fridge and o quench our thirst. Room had a real cute Magic Chef fridge that I am now inspired to buy. I had too great of a time that I didn’t have a chance hit up bouldering which is amazingly priced for hotel guest. Will definitely stay hear again and take advantage of climbing next time :)

Quieter than casino hotels, low key ambiance and staff, staff not rude or so money oriented as others, very helpful, $20 daily for valet was a ripoff ... 2 moves over 4 days ... they only had to park my car once (at initial check in) and bring it to the door on the day I checked out .... Lot was open ground lot with no security ... Also toilet paper was very thin lol

Room was quiet. Good view from the room. Pets are allowed. Security you have to use a room key to operate the elevator. The grilled chicken sandwich from the restaurant was over cooked, i.e. too dry.

Check in was easy, the front desk clerk was super cool. The self parking was inconvenient, so I paid for valet, because it felt worth it for $12. The room was okay; the bed was very comfortable, but the AC noise was significant. For a very modern hotel, I was stunned the room lacked sufficient charging outlets. Two people with multiple devices...you are out of luck. The one window was small and out of the way, so the room felt unwelcoming. Our floor reeked of weed to the point it overwhelmed our room. I am surprised and disappointed the hotel staff did nothing about it. I thought this was a non-smoking hotel. The late night front desk staff was less than helpful, so I don't know, I think this was my third stay here. I might be back, but despite being a Hilton Honors member if I can find similar deals elsewhere, maybe not.

Lovely hotel with nice staff. Great breakfast. Free apple cider in the lobby over Halloween. Gym could use a tune up but it’s part of the climbing centre so may be out of their control. And nice to be in a place that didn’t have a casino constantly banging away.

There was an event nearby that closed roads, and the hotel gave no clear directions on how to access the building. Calling listed numbers didn’t help, which was frustrating. Off-site parking a few blocks away is inconvenient. The hotel claims to be dog-friendly but has no on-site relief area, just a dog park across the street.

We had a great time here, staff was so nice, rooms were clean but i think the carpet can use a steam/deep clean. Also we wanted to splurge a bit and got this hotel instead of our other cheap options and this is the first hotel that charges us for nightly parking either valet 25$ a night or self parking that's far away for another 12$ a day. Otherwise everything else was great.

Bar/Restaurant closing time on a Fri Night seems a little too early... Restaurant stops serving at 9pm, bar closes at 10pm... If stopping after an Aces Ballgame, not enough time to enjoy a meal and a cocktail or 2 before heading to bed.

Bed comfort was bad. Beds were too hard. Room took long to cool down, never got to were it was set at. Staff in the cafe and at the rock climbing were just rude without a care. It shouldn't take 15 mins to just get a glass of water. The Bell and Valet staff were the BEST!

The staff is the standout here: warm, genuinely friendly, and eager to help with anything from dinner recommendations to arranging transportation. It never felt like “just another hotel stay” — it felt personal. Our room was spotless, modern, and spacious, with huge windows framing the city and mountains. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the linens felt luxurious, and the little touches — like locally inspired decor and high-quality toiletries — made it feel special. One of the biggest perks is that it’s smoke-free, which is a rare and welcome change in downtown Reno. You can actually breathe fresh air as you walk through the lobby. The vibe is relaxed but still upscale, and there’s a cool, boutique feel throughout. The climbing wall outside is an absolute showstopper — even if you’re not climbing it, it gives the place a sense of energy and adventure. The fitness center is excellent, and the on-site restaurant serves a fantastic breakfast and creative cocktails in the evening. All in all, Whitney Peak delivers the perfect balance of comfort, style, and location. Whether you’re in Reno for business, a getaway, or just passing through, this hotel is a breath of fresh air. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the city.

Started out with the road being closed for some sort of gay pride concert on a Friday night. Had no idea how to get to the parking structure, so I called the front desk. Immediately placed on hold, then was hung up on 2 min later. Amazing first impression. Decide to turn down the semi-barricaded street to get to registration. There's about a dozen cars parked haphazardly in front of the hotel. Get close to the curb and the valet stoner makes zero attempt to come to my truck to talk. My buddy has to get out and go to him to ask where to park. He says go back the way you came (try to turn around down a one way street with a dozen cars parked on it) and "keep going left" to get the parking garage. Could not get an address out of this moron. Drive another 7 min to get across the street and park. Walk into reception. I ask why they don't mention that the street is closed or where the parking garage is on their website. No answers from the stooge at the front desk. Room is a glorified motel room. Garbage bed, musty smell. AC set to 64, runs nonstop all night, room never gets below 77. Can hear the awful music in the street still. Great evening! When leaving in the morning, I physically hand the keys to the creature at the desk. Her response is "emailed receipt". Lovely demeanor. Receipt arrives and they deduct $2 for a tourism fee. Never mentioned on Hotels.com or at check-in or c

Good option in downtown Reno. Newer than other properties (renovated) but all of Reno is showing its age. No casino. Onsite restaurant and bar was very good to excellent. No fault of the hotel, but street fairs had the parking garage (other side of the street) inaccessible, you can use the garage for the eldorado for free (.5 block away). Staff was helpful and cheerful. 15th floor lounge is worth it, especially in the afternoon for cocktails and complimentary light snacks. Room was spacious. We had a small suite which was basically a double room with seating area and wet bar (microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker).

It’s right across the street from el dorado casino which is convenient if you want to kill some time and money Its also walking distance to near by restaurants They have one in the hotel if you want to eat in The rooms were nice clean and spacious for a family of 4 Would highly recommend this place if you are visiting the area with family i like that it has a semi kitchen (sink mini fridge microwave and counter table with chairs) The only inconvenience was the parking You can pay extra for valet but you have to park across the street on the right side of the hotel so getting your car in and out was a hassle At least they let you park in the front for a bit to unload your stuff

Nice property in a very convenient area. Upon checkout their staff punched in an extra zero for our room charge and charged me over 10 grand for a 3 day stay. They barely apologized for this colosal mistake and didn’t offer anything in return.

Staff is very friendly and helpful, I love seeing all the dogs that guests bring with them.

There was a music festival in the area so streets were blocked off. It just made it a little difficult to check in.

This was the most money I've ever spent to stay in Reno, and it was also the least satisfying stay I've had in my 8 years of coming. Sure, the staff was friendly and the room was clean, but beyond that, so many things were wrong that it was a disappointing stay. My friends that were also staying at the Whitney confirmed that they had similar complaints. To name just a few, the door frames are so warped that often ruined my room sir wouldn't latch if i didn't PULL it shut. The toilet flushed very slowly and lazily which meant at least TWO flushes per trip. The television is pretty limited on stations and of those, only about HALF actually had reception. The air conditioning was very erratic and noisy and the lighting in the room was terrible.

My husband was in the hospital, so I extended our stay, so we stayed longer so my husband could recuperate. The room was comfortable and the lounge was perfect to have some hor d’ourvres and relax. The hotel is located in the perfect spot. The restaurant is very reasonably priced. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.
- 5/5
Our plan was to stay 2 nights, and travel towards home. However, my husband ended up in the hospital for 4 days, so we extended our stay for 4 more days. The hotel was extremely accommodating to me. The valets were very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were very kind. We definitely will stay here again when we’re heading in this direction. Thank you very much.

Cleanliness could be better- Sheets had hair on them. Had to ask for replacement sheets. One of the sinks constantly overflowing due to the stopper constantly down. Parking- parking lot cost a fee so parked at alt parking lot. Would have been nice to have free onsite parking with walkable distance. Seemed a little far with lots of bags. Staff- super nice and friendly. Restaurant inside even made my son a hot coa coa for free.

Everything and I mean everything cost money. Our room price was jacked up because there was a tournament in town. You have to pay $25 to valet park even though you're staying in the hotel. When you call the hotel they are rude and disrespectful.

ADA facilities were excellent, with well-designed roll-in shower. Highly recommended

This non-smoking non-gambling hotel in Reno includes a huge climbing gym with steam and sauna. Hotel is very well maintained, staff is friendly, unprofessional, and the in hotel restaurant is quite good. This is the only hotel I ever consider staying in when I’m in Reno.
- 2/5
Booked breakfast included with Expedia. After I was there property said that did not mean anything and they wanted to charge for breakfast. In the end they included it because I had an argument with the manager. So be careful when booking this property.

The hotel restaurant is… OK. If you’re foodies, this might not be what you’re looking for, but if you’re just hungry for average food, it’s fine.

First time staying at the Whitney Peak Hotel and all I can say is that it was perfect.

We were traveling by train amd the hotel was within walking distance. We alsi have a service animal and they were welcomed in the hotel.

I would not recommend anyone while visiting Reno stay in a hotel that pretends it’s not in Downtown Reno, and the front staff , absolutely one of the rudest experiences from a front desk employee I have ever had to speak with and was treated less then a human.
- 4/5
I liked the cook at the restaurant Tuesday 1/21 who prepared breakfast. Good cook. Courteous. Prompt.
- 3/5
The property is amazing. The staff was amazing. But Hilton bought the property and a lot of the perks I use to receive, as a platinum member of Hotel. Com are gone.. There was a lot of hidden charges including parking. But I would go back. The room I had was very spacious
- 4/5
Clean and organized facility very convenient to have a restaurant downstairs
- 5/5
We loved this hotel! They were so accommodating to us with our dog, even gave us a good bag for him. My ONLY complaint about our stay was the staff at Cafe Whitney. They seem miserable and are so rude!
- 2/5
I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're looking for a warm shower after a long day. They seem to have ongoing issues with their water heater. I had to make several complaints before they finally agreed to move me to another room.
- 2/5
This was our second time staying here. We chose this hotel because it is pet friendly. We checked into our room around 9 pm. My family was tired and started to unpack and get ready for bed. As soon as they pull the covers back, my kids notice the bed is full of hair. Then we inspected the other bed and it had hair all over, in between the sheets and on the comforter. I called down to the front desk and they offered to give us another room or they could provide clean sheets. We took the clean sheets and decided to change the beds ourselves. The kids had already unpacked and we didn’t want to pack everything up and move. The bathroom was also not cleaned properly. There was hair all over the floor. Not even sure if they really clean in between guests. I would stay again only because it’s pet friendly, but most likely will inspect the room to make sure it’s clean before settling in.
- 5/5
It's close to Amtrak station
- 5/5
Great place to stay for non smokers, non gambling types. We were there for a high school sports tournament and loved everything about this hotel.
- 3/5
The parking is in a separate building that needs to cross two traffic lights, which is not convenient. And a $7 payment per exit makes the situation even worse. The worst thing is that no safety is ensured. The internet is not convenient, which requires registration with true personal information for every device.
- 5/5
Check in was very fast. Front desk very friendly and attentive to our needs. Room was very clean. One nice touch was "Welcome Victor" on the TV when we arrived. 4 star hotel, gym, restaurant, child and pet friendly. 100% recommended!!
- 5/5
Beautiful on site. Gorgeous room friendly staff the parking garage not being connected is a bit of a bummer and while I think that you should never have to pay for parking at a hotel, the fee at the garage is relatively fair.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Super clean. Modern. I would absolutely stay here again. Needs more than five stars...
- 3/5
I’ve been here several times, I like how they allow dogs and there’s a dog park across the street. However, the bathroom didn’t seem Hilton clean to me. And one of the robes had holes in the shoulder area, first thing you see as they are hung up on hangers in the closet. Seems very un-like Hilton quality. Other than that the rest of the hotel was very nice, nice restaurant on site. Valet parking $25 otherwise self parking is kitty corner to hotel and not exactly on site.
- 3/5
Throughout the 20 hour stay, I counted 10 times when staffed answered “no” a a question or request. Only twice did they offer a solution (one was to walk 1/2 a block after 11pm in 23 degree temps). Let’s just say that the valets were the most helpful, positive, and guest-friendly of any/all of the staff..
- 3/5
Heater did not work finally it was fixed

very welcoming place! staff was also great
- 4/5
The room was a good size and relatively quiet, aside from the occasional noise from the street. For some reason there was a layer of cold air on the floor. Location is convenient to many restaurants and casinos. The bed was a bit firm for me.

The hotel overall is very nice, clean, updated, and very convenient. The prices at the cafe were very decently priced. I enjoyed a couple of nice sized lattes for under $3. I would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed here before the renovation and we came back to see everything newly upgraded for my birthday weekend. Upon checking in, we found out that this hotel does not offer free breakfast, does not have free parking, and that they do not have an indoor pool available. First of all, no breakfast!!! That’s ridiculous for the $350 per night stay. Secondly, the parking is $7 each time you go in and out. It’s across the street also, which is sketchy at night so be careful. We opted to just pay $12 a night for the parking fee which is still insane because all the other resorts are free. Lastly, no pool available for the children. Their amenities are not up to par as a Hilton resort. When you walk through the halls, there is an overpowering scent which makes it hard to breathe. The room has a very dark theme gloomy theme. The furniture is not kid- friendly. The living area has very poor lighting which made it hard to eat as a family. And they also did not provide dish soap or sponges so we had to get our own. When we were checking out on Sunday, I called for a courtesy late check out and SERENA told me unfortunately they gave out all their late check outs already. I was in shock considering this request the first denial I have ever received in all hotel history. I asked to speak to her manager and she put ALOJZ hotel operations manager on the line and he also denied my “courtesy” late check out request which furiated the hell out of me. They charged a $25 late fee!!
- 4/5
The room was great except for the wallpaper in the bathroom did not go with the rest of the decor.
- 3/5
Good, though hair dryer missing from room, and surprised with pet fee that was $75 or $100 (!). Staff was uninterested in guests.
- 3/5
Crowded small unwelcoming lobby that was very noisy. It’s in the casino area so noisy neighborhood decor is grey and cold. Rooms are spacious clean and well Equipped but too hot for comfortable sleeping. Took three tries to get front desk to respond. They finally sent someone to turn down the heat but it didn’t work. Room stayed hot. Breakfast restaurant also dark and grey. We went elsewhere Gym is great. Morning staff more helpful.
- 4/5
Great hotel with breakfast as extra. Well equipped gym for a hotel. Also climbing facilities for the more adventurous. Parking a little misleading on Expedia - $7 self parking does not give you in/out privileges. Need to pay $13 for that or valet at $25
