Breakfast was so...so. not the best or the worst, they had protien. I did not use the pool but seen others use it. I would definitely stay again

Nicely updated, but same low rate. Good breakfast. That area of town has also been renewed making it very walkable. We enjoyed an evening stroll down by the college. However, there's some street noise from occasional loud cars and mototcycles at night which woke me up a couple times.

Clean The AC was too too loud, can’t control the temperature and the air blow straight to my head when I was sleeping.

Definitely worth staying at, and especially for the rate. Very clean rooms tastefully done, swimming pool, and a nice/simply breakfast spread. One minor deal would be to have a coffee/tea option in the room. The room I had...the A/C wall control unit didn't work, rather had to use the A/C unit itself by standing on a chair to turn it on & adjust the temp & fan. Will stay here again when passing through Redding.

On the website, they have that they EV charging stations but they don’t. They have ability for you to bring your own extension cord and equipment and plug into a 220 outlet so they kind of mislead the EV charging that’s OK if you’re gonna be parked overnight but if you don’t bring your own equipment you can’t plug-in.

Rooms were recently renovated and very nice. Our shower had some rust stains in the bottom but otherwise everything was in good shape. Pool area was wonderful. Only other critique I had was the railing to go to the upper level of rooms was wobbly. Breakfast had a good variety of items.

Really great little motel. I couldn't get a room at my usual hotels due to the holiday weekend, but the Lodge was GREAT! So clean and well done, and the staff was so nice.

The breakfast is fairly typical motel breakfast.

I have stayed at thunderbird for the last three years and the upgrades to the room was so cute, and so clean. The breakfast was decent too but good for a free breakfast. It was also super comfortable and cozy.

Helpful staff. Urban setting — the only ambient noise was trains passing. Opportunities for dog are very limited, but we would stay there again.

Highly recommend this Inn! The place was spotless, and being right downtown meant we had access to great restaurants all within walking distance. The cleanliness of the rooms also stood out as a major plus.

This property has been re-done since the last time I stayed here. It was clean and very nice up to date furnishings. Bed and pillows were comfortable. I would stay here again. Love that you can walk to coffee and all that down town has to offer.

It was very easy late night check in . Room was clean and had a fresh vibe to it. Staff was very friendly and helpful . We will choose to stay again .

It was mostly just an ideal location. The pool was absolutely freezing cold, the breakfast was very sub-optimal food, and overall it’s just kind of a cheap motel.

Lovingly renovated and updated 1950s motor lodge with easy parking in the middle of downtown. Just a few blocks to the new Public Market and numerous dining options and shopping. Did not use the pool but it had a nice seating area that would be great in the summer.

Clean and modern room, updated nicely from my previous stay. Reasonably priced. Plenty of space and easy to work if needed with numerous charging options. One drawback is my room was next to a busy street, and between the heater/AC unit and the bathroom window, there was very little noise protection. I needed a white noise app to get around that. This will often be a top choice for me if i'm in Redding.

The two level lodge was newly remodeled we know because our room smelled heavily of paint. I made my hubby spray his cologne to help out so I could sleep. Night one did not help, I was up all day with a family event early the next morning. The outside noise is horrible. There’s bars on the bathroom window, which I appreciate so much when the bar fight from literally across the alley started. I thought oh here comes the bullets. I was too scared to go out to our truck to get something! When the officers showed up out bathroom was a huge red and blue disco light. We had paid for both nights so we went back I died I was so tired so nothing bothered me then. There’s great food around actually just across the street, Dos Gordos. Ate both nights there. There’s a nice doughnut place just next door. Every thing else was trash. The lodge is trying to make it be a nice place, but with their surroundings it tough to be really happy there. The pool was down of course still cold and raining. The pantry for Continental breakfast was just that. Nothing to write home, we went to McDonalds down the hwy. There’s a Coke machine and ice machine at the office. That’s the whole property in a nut shell.

A/C fan was quite loud & was difficult to sleep with for my kids. Breakfast was completely picked over by the time we got there & no egg free options for food allergy kids so that was disappointing. Didn’t get to take advantage of the pool or surrounding areas. Room was clean & nice. Staff was super nice & kind.

The Thunderbird has been nicely remodeled and was very clean. Parking was easy and convenient. The lady that checked us in was so nice and accommodating! We only stayed one night but were very comfortable.

it was clean and looked like some remodeling had been done. the first thing was the heater, no matter what fan setting it was on, it sounded like a jet taking off, very loud. just trying to heat the room from 66 to 72, not even sure if it hit 72, every other time it would blow cold air and it was only on heat setting. the other thing was the cars, trains and just random people walking down the street being loud, should've known better it was in the city and thats my fault.

Property was newly remodeled, very nice, very clean. Nice. Unfortunately the location lends itself to a lot of street noise and the heating unit was very loud.

Our room was perfectly clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable and it was very quiet at night. During the day and early evening you can hear some sounds from the street but nothing disruptive. There is a very good 24 hour donut shop a short walk away that was too tempting to resist. We will definately stay at this hotel again.

Loud noise and no breakfast

The woman who checked me in was friendly and genuinely helpful, the room was clean, the location is near several restaurants (I went to the sushi place across the street and had an outstanding meal), and I really appreciated that the breakfast room was clean and stocked.

My partner stepped on a roach getting out of bed in the morning. Also, that was the worst excuse for a continental breakfast I’ve seen.

I have been traveling for over 50 years and had the worst hotel experience ever at the Thunderbird Lodge. The rooms are fine, nicely updated, but the room next to me was rented to a group for a party. I never went to sleep as I heard every word of their party until 3 00am. I am requesting a full refund!

The recent remodeling and updating of rooms and facilities makes this a great place to stay. The rooms are always clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. The motel is centrally located in downtown in a safe walkable neighborhood.

We were on bottom level of the newly decorated section of the motel. I appreciated the cleanliness. But with no carpet it was extremely noisy from the people above us. We heard every step, movement of furniture, etc. also if you’re a lite sleeper there was street noise. Breakfast choices were minimal. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The room was quiet, clean and the blinds were excellent for keeping out light. The breakfast bar was sparse, but this wasn't important to us.

The motel is being renovated throughout. Our section was fresh and clean. The air conditioner needed to be replaced and that would make it as good as any. One of the main drags was right behind us with plenty of shopping and night life. Only draw back was as in most cities now you feel a bit uneasy with the panhandlers.

This is a basic little place in a perfect location. It is not the Ritz Carleton but it worked for us just fine on our road trip from Portland to San Francisco.

If you’re not picky and need a place to land for the night, this is similar to a motel 6. Probably wouldn’t stay there again, but they are getting remodeled and the staff are very nice. I think it was clean enough, just old and worn. It’s been there since the 50’s so it has some nostalgia vibes happening.

No A/C in 100 degree weather. Everything was old and dingy. The bathroom was disgusting. Pool under construction and closed for the whole summer. Photos very misleading. We got a refund and left. Don't go here!

I booked this hotel because of the pool and because I needed a quiet place for my conference call in the morning at 8: 30. I was woken up at 7:00 with someone running a gasoline-powered leaf blower on the sidewalk in front of my door. At 8:30 my entire room was shaking because of the jackhammering removing the sidewalk around the pool area. Needless to say the pool was not operational and nobody told me. I complained to management and was told nobody could do anything to help me.

Truly a gem is this small town. The RV was spotless and special welcoming features. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked. And we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor deck attached to the RV and along the small creek. Could not have been a happier stay!! Wish it could have been linger!

My son had a very comfortable stay at the Thunderbird Lodge. His only difficulty was that upon returning to the hotel at the end of a long day, there were no open parking spots in the lot so he had to circle around the area at night to find a place to park.

Out of all the places we stayed during our 4-night road trip, this one left the best impression. The room was small but very clean, fully equipped, and everything worked perfectly. What stood out most was the very pleasant scent in the room — not musty or neutral, but genuinely fresh and welcoming. The only downside was that it felt a bit warm inside. Breakfast is included, but it’s quite simple — coffee, hot chocolate (no tea), a few types of juice and water, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, and several kinds of bread. It’s not a large spread, but definitely enough to start your day. We arrived late at night and were worried when we didn’t see anyone at the front desk — but luckily, there was a bell to ring, and a staff member promptly came out to check us in. Huge thanks to the kind and helpful manager! 🔔 Suggestion: It would be helpful to have a sign near the reception letting late arrivals know to ring the bell — we were genuinely concerned we might not get in. Overall, it was a great experience — clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Would happily stay again!

Due to family friendly restrictions, i wont show the pictures showing the injury, just the broken chair. I hope this leads to the owners making better choices in their purchases.

The Thunderbird was nicely managed by the front desk manager. They are doing renovations, but it wasn’t particularly noisy. I was able to park right in front of my room which I liked. There are a few restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance. The coffee maker was difficult to figure out, or perhaps broken. But I always bring my own Mini Keurig. It is reasonably priced for the accommodations.

It was a good stay. Room is a little outdated but comfy. Bed was a bit uncomfortable, but nothing too bad. I would definitely stay again!

Customer service was great and breakfast was clean and easy. Rooms are very dated specifically the AC and carpets. Beds were uncomfortable and very hard. Gaps in door and frame and from the AC wall unit made it to be pretty noisy from passing vehicles. However, it is in a great area though and inexpensive.

After a long day on the road, a hot shower and comfortable bed were top priorities and we got them. We were able to charge our EV and the donuts and coffee next door started our next day of driving off perfectly.

Broken aircon and located to the very corner of the room inside the closet, bathroom door was hard to close and noisy. The receptionist gave us the wrong directions where the restaurants. We went round and round the neighborhood. We asked compensation but not enough.

This is an excellent location for downtown walking and site seeing. The lobby staff were friendly, informative, and helpful. The room is a bit dated, but reconstruction was underway in the back half of the property. We’d stay again if in the area.

Decent hotel, as expected for the price. The breakfast was not amazing but the room was fine, the shower worked well, the AC worked well. Great location! Rught next to Heavenly Donuts!! I would go back.

This place is not like dirty but it is old and I wouldn’t say it has been maintained and needs to be renovated modernized. There were bugs in my room.

The air conditioning was a little noisy. Next time we need a room we will be going back.

The hotel seemed a little old, but room was clean and in good condition. We arrived 9:30 pm, and appreciated the front desk was open 24/7.

Its located downtown in Redding so there are things close by. It is pet friendly, but i didnt see anywhere to take my dog out except in an alley or out to the street. Typical of any downtown area, there is road noise and people hanging around. The motel itself is very clean and our room had new paint and floors. The bed was fine. Overall, one night stay was fine.

Best place to stay without breaking the bank

Thunderbird is a well-run Heritage motel in the heart of Redding, a great town.

The property is a classic in town! But there was no hot water for a shower in the morning!

Furthermore, our room was not well cleaned and had a buildup of dark dirt and filth on the bathroom floor, especially in the corners. I will not be returning to the Thunderbird Lodge as it was unpleasant at best.

Great place for a one night stay on a road trip. It was safe, clean, quiet, and affordable. It’s right in the heart of downtown Redding, so there’s tons of food options that are literally only a 5 minute walk away

The fall who checked us in was great, a keeper. This place got 4 stars only because it’s not new and sparkling. It is very clean, well maintained, and a deal for the money. Would stay here again!

Older property, but well updated. Everything was good, except - bring your earplugs. Train whistles all through the night. Convenient to everything we wanted to do.

Spent one night in Redding on my way to Riverside. The Thunderbird Lodge was reasonably priced and met all the requirements for a nice stay.

Room is clean and safety property. Prices is reasonable too.

It’s good if you need to rest for a night.

Front office staff are amazing, surrounding area at night not so great. TV was broken and shower was pretty small. All in all good stay for short 24hours.

Decent place to spend a night or two.

It was ok for an overnight stay on the way to Washington. Nothing special about it but it was ok for 1 night. It was nice to get a bagel on the way out. Not sure if the pool was in service but it was visible.

It was a bit noisy because of traffic and nearby trains, but the hotel itself was good and the room was comfortable and nice.

I was booking my hotel for the night as we were driving… I made a mistake and selected the next day. Because I booked right at 6pm and hotel policy is no refunds and changes after 6pm charge you a full night again.. I was panicked and couldn’t get through to a live person at Expedia. I called the hotel while I chatted the virtual assistant… the gentleman at the hotel said no problem and gave me the phone number for Expedia… within just a few minutes everything was resolved with no additional cost.. now for the room, quite clean and comfortable. Literally right downtown and in walking distance to many places to eat! Will definitely stay here again

The motel was very clean and pleasant. The only drawback was a freight train blowing its horn and road noise during the night.

Advertising restaurants on property, but the t was closed.

Neat retro property. Clean, nice staff, facilities had a facelift.

The heating and cooling unit was very loud and had a tough time cooling the room.
