The hotel is generally praised for its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, many guests have noted that the property is outdated and in need of renovation, with issues such as worn carpeting, old furniture, and outdated bathrooms. Some guests have also reported issues with the smell in the rooms and hallways, ranging from cigarette smoke to strange, unidentifiable odors.

The hotel is an older hotel, with 1980s/1990s decor, which is not a problem for us as long as it is clean and safe. There is undoubtedly a systemic mold problem in the hotel. All registers were black with dust (and probably positive for mold spores). I suffer with allergies and woke up both mornings with a horrible headache, head congestion and coughing. The outside pool area was the highlight of the stay. It is unfortunate that the hotel is not better kept - it has a very unique and welcoming layout with the courtyard/pool area and spacious balconies. Breakfast was okay, not too many healthy options, but hot complimentary breakfasts are hard to come by these days, so that was nice. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that suffers allergies or has a concern with exposure to mold.

Everything was good except for we opted for extended checkout time which meant we weren't supposed to check out till 1:00 p.m. and at 5 minutes after 11:00 one of the staff came in and asked if we were checking out today. She didn't even knock on the door she just used her key and came in. The staff needs to be made aware if a room is getting extended check out.

The location is perfect for the Lenovo Center! Front desk associate the evening of our stay was very nice and got us an extra blanket. Showing age. Carpet looked dirty. The staff was amazing, the only reason why I would not rate this facility any lower. Outside of their hotel is old and rundown. The entrance and pool looked comfy and clean. But outside of that, the rest of the hotel was poor. Hallways smelled like cigarettes and mold. The lighting, paint, and carpet were all old and just looked dirty. Rooms were the same as the hallways. My sheets had rust stains. The bathrooms are very old and outdated, and they just looked dirty overall. I would not stay there again. Everything outside of the staff needs work. The hotel does not match up with how great the staff was. Even the locks on the doors were not working properly. One of my staff members mentioned someone tried to break into their room, and their door latch was barely hanging by a thread.

We stayed one night for a Hurricanes game, and this place was exactly what I expected. We didn't really use the amenities, but the front desk staff were helpful, and our room was clean. We walked to the arena (about a mile away). Parking at the hotel was no problem and the breakfast was good (hot food included). TV in our room was kinda small, but we didn't really use it. I suggest bringing your own pillow (ours were very thick).

The staff was super helpful at check-in, We had our small dog with us and they were able to accommodate us with a room on the courtyard. This was a lifesaver, as we were easily able to let her in and out to do her business through the sliding glass doors in our room. Pro Tip: Call the property to ensure you get such a room, as messaging them via Expedia DOES NOT get to them (which they also reiterated when we checked-in) Breakfast is included but we did not wake up for it so I can't give any feedback there. There is not much around though in terms of restaurants/bars, so take advantage of the functional ice machine in the hallway, and the cold mini fridge in your room, and stock up. While the carpet is a bit worn, and the bed springs as well, for a one event night event at Lenovo, it was perfect.

The hotel was in the location I needed, very close to NCSU, with easy access and in a safe area. The room was clean and comfortable, and overall the stay was decent. The hotel felt quite old-fashioned, with carpet everywhere and an unpleasant smell. Although breakfast was included, the food was not fresh, there was very little choice, and the quality was poor.

The room looked decently clean but the smell was terrible. Maybe carpet is too old/ dirty/ wet? I don't know but it was so bad that we had to open the balcony door mostly all the time. The common areas were very clean. Staff was professional. Breakfast options are the same since two years ago (scrambled eggs, pancakes, bread/ bagel slices, sausage, orange juice and coffee, i saw a couple of cereal options. All my family and friends always stay at Ramada because the location is convenient to get to Meredith College and NC State Univ. Parking lot is big enough. Safe place to stay with the family.

This hotel was not great! The inside of hallways smelled like pot, our shower was not great .. the part you pull to go to shower from tub was loose from wall, shower literally trickled until I got fed up and was ready to get out then it only got a little better and made me angry .. the bed was good but the pillows were so small and squared that I had to use all ones on the bed! A cute balcony off room but no chairs.. place seems dated.. elevator looks beaten up.. just glad it was only one night

We were in Raleigh visiting family and did not spend much time at the hotel, only ate breakfast here once out of the 3 days we were here. We love the location for Canes games & short drive to downtown. Property is a little dated, but super clean & well-appointed. Special shout outs to Donovan (front desk) & Nancy (in-house bartender) for going above & beyond, though the entire staff was friendly & attentive. We had a minor issue with a towel rack, but we alerted Donovan & had no other problems. We just missed the pool opening for the season - we were told it was awaiting inspection, which I have no doubt would pass, as it was sparkling & clear. Comfy beds, hearty breakfast offering, and a good price combine with great service. We will absolutely be back!

The only reason this dump receives 1 star is because it is so close to the Lenovo Center. The hotel is severely neglected in all aspects of a lodging location. We pull into the back of the hotel to go to the room and immediately you see trash everywhere. The keypad to enter was intermittent at best and the people before us were waiting for someone on the inside to let them in. Once you finally get in, the smell and carpets throughout were absolutely disgusting looking like they've never been cleaned OR vacuumed. Now go into the room and the carpet is at least vacuumed but still really worn and just gross. One look at the bed and you see stains in the pillow cases. Look up into the light fixtures and somehow those are stained...amazing. Avoid at all costs if you have other options. Didn't see bedbugs but if any place would have them...this is it. We didn't even stay after the show. We just packed up, checked out and drove home middle of the night. I feel like my money was just stolen. Ramada corporate should remove their name from this place. What an embarrassment.

This is the place to stay if you go into Raleigh for a Carolina Hurricanes game. The hotel is within walking distance of the arena, so you save the $35-$45 it costs to park in the area. Plus, there’s a very nice breakfast included each morning. The savings in parking cost, plus the value of our two breakfasts if purchased elsewhere, likely covered 85% of the cost of the room itself.

This place blew me away! I’d been on a long road trip and I usually have good luck at picking hotels based on reviews, but on this trip I’d totally struck out until I got to this property. Literally a flawless stay and a room that exceeded my expectations. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. However, my only concern would be the lights in the courtyard that doesn't work, is DANGEROUS because it is super dark out there without them. Aside from that, it was very clean, the staff was great, the included hot breakfast was good with friendly staff, and I would stay there again because of its proximity to attractions and the convenience. I will highly recommend. Just be aware that this is not a brand new hotel so it is dated. Also, the bathroom in my room didn’t have an exhaust vent reason why I think there was a smell of humidity everywhere.

This is the second time submitting this review, I don't know why the first one didn't go through. The room and bathroom were very clean. The only thing lacking, was no "cubbies" or storage for personal items in the BR, just "counter space" at the sink. However, the towels were thick and plush. The beds were very comfortable with a thin comforter which made the bed snuggly and warm. The breakfast on Sat. was hot and delicious, we got there about 8:45 am. There were hot scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, well seasoned grits, pancakes, pastries, cereal and fruit. Sun. not as many selections, sausage links, no bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, cereal, pastries and fruit. (Please don't forget to tip the cook and the ladies who kept everything well supplied, they worked very hard to keep us happy!) The swimming pool was clean and beautiful even though we didn't get to swim. The lobby itself was very nice with several places to sit and hang out, nice "India" interior decorations and wall paintings. The staff was very courteous and professional. We will definitely be back!

The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable with a light weight comforter which made it "cozy". The bathroom and shower were very clean with nice thick towels. The main complaint is there were no "cubby" holes to store toiletries and not a lot of counter space where the sink was to place them. Saturday, the breakfast was hot and delicious with scrambled eggs, sausage patties and bacon, wonderful creamy and well seasoned grits, pancakes, sweet pastries, cereal and fruit. Sunday: eggs, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, cereal, fruit. ( Please remember to tip the cook and ladies that kept things well supplied, they work very hard!) The swimming pool was beautiful and very clean even though we didn't swim. We will definitely be back!

Attention is NEEDED to cleanliness! Spider webs, trash etc in these areas need real attention: the bedroom balcony, sitting area in court yard and porch, steps, walkway into entry doors from side of building. Thank you…

Dislikes; First room had no wifi due to its location in the back of the building. Asked for another room and staff was more than willing to give us a room closer to the front of building. Second room was much better overall except water pressure in shower was very low. Hotel needs upgrades, water & internet especially. In spite of the issues, stay was adequate due to cost, cleanliness and staff.

What I did like was the walkability to PNC Arena. They now charge a $25 pet fee. The young kid checking us in did not seem to be a dog-friendly person but it sounds as if there has been a lot of inconsiderate people that have stayed recently and have not taken care of their dogs (i.e. leaving them in the room all day during a football game and have left waste in the rooms).

Assuming that is fixed this is an acceptable hotel in the fairgrounds/NC State area. I got it because I decided at the last minute to spend the night in Raleigh so I could go to the second day of an event I was there for. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and I needed something close to the fairgrounds because I was tired from traveling and not sleeping well the night before. If you just need somewhere to sleep and you're not looking for a posh experience (and they fix those doors!) this was fine.

The property location was inconvenient, nothing in walking distance. The property/ my room #119 was not good, the door looked like it was kicked in by the police, the lock was not secure, it was just a half, half broken chain lock, sliding glass door had no lock just a metal bar to keep it secure, it has no screen and it was off track making it difficult to open and close the door. Curtains stained. Toilet clogged, key cards wouldn't work had to constantly go to the front desk to get them rekeyed. Toilet too small, to low to floor, shower rod falling apart. I took pictures of all issues.

Hotel was clean, location was good, rooms are a good size and I liked that there was a balcony. I stayed on the 2nd floor and walked the entire floor looking for an ice machine. Quiet hotel. 24 minute walk to the arena. Safe walk. Room clean. Bed decent. Nice pillows. Tv randomly kept shutting off. Asked maintenence to look at it. They may have come while we were gone because when we got back to the room it was on and never shut off again, so thank you. Gentlemen at check in very nice and helpful. Our second floor bedroom over looking the pool had a balcony which was a pleasant surprise. Didnt use the pool but people were in it and it looked very clean. Bkft was just so so. Microwavable pancakes and sausage but it was ok. Scrambled eggs were good.

Review: This was by far the most disgusting and unsafe hotel stay I have ever experienced. The room I was given reeked of smoke, even though it was supposed to be non-smoking. There were visible burn marks on the furniture and bedding, which looked like fire hazards just waiting to happen. To make matters worse, the room had bugs — crawling on the floor and in the corners. Absolutely unacceptable. I immediately brought this to the hotel staff’s attention, but nothing meaningful was done to correct the situation. A hotel should provide a clean and safe place to stay — this property failed on every level. If you care about your health, comfort, or safety, avoid this hotel at all costs. I would not recommend it to anyone, not even for a single night.

The hotel was a little overpriced for the brand/quality. The front desk staff was the absolute nicest, most accommodating, pleasant staff I have had in the longest time. The hotel itself is dated, but appears to be pretty well maintained and clean. Even the caulk on the tub was clean and maintained well. Dove brand soap and shampoo. My room had a usable balcony, which was nice, although we didn’t use it. Bed was comfortable, and there were USB ports in the lamp bases. The remote control for the tv did not have batteries or a back cover. We just used the controls on the tv. ( we were only there for a quick overnight stay)

This hotel is in dire need of some love. It is old, tired, not as clean as it should be. If you choose to stay here, make sure your room does not have an adjoining door to another room, as it basically means sharing space with a door in between. We could hear every word that was said in the other room. We asked for another room and were made to wait until the next check-in time, then had to check out because we found a pest in our room that I will not name. Some of the front desk staff seem to get triggered when a customer is stressed by the presence of pests, and perhaps should not be in the customer service industry. Would not recommend

This is my third time staying at Ramada Inn, I always stay 2 or 3 nights with my family, I love the location, it is so convenient to access NC State Univ. And Meredith College. We have been outside very late at night and early morning and surrounding seems safe. Bedroom and Bathrooms are clean, even the ones at the common areas. Breakfast is always the same: scramble eggs, bread slices, pancakes, some times you can find muffins. Always have fresh coffee and orange juice cups. The only thing I didn't like this time is the bad smell in the hallway, so moldy, it really made me feel sick. The hotel had these big floor driers fans on the corners of the building. We had this moldy smell even in the room so bad. Borken glass in the parking lot was another thing I noticed and made me feel unsafe the first night. Crew members were just doing their great jobs, they are very respectful but not too friendly, maybe they were just tired... it would be great to get a smile and feel a welcoming environment though.

Asked for a King Accessible room and got a second floor Double Queen. Key cards didn’t work initially and had to go all the way back down to the desk to have them reprogrammed. Corridors are dingy and the plastic corner protectors are falling off the walls. Inside the room there was a convulsing roach that I named Rodney and bits of his friends all over the bathroom (leg in the soap-dish? They thought of EVERYTHING!). Shower head was weird and very low pressure. Towels had holes in them and I felt the need to shake them all out and keep them in the dry cleaning bag just in case Rodney had an intact cousin. Bed seemed clean but it was rock hard and the room had an overall “dirty” vibe to it. Like, you leave the hotel and feel like you need a shower and to immediately decontaminate everything you brought with you before you go back into your house.

Bed was too hard for us. Building is an older building and needs maintenance. Weren’t told elevator wasn’t working- discovered that when we got all the way down the hallway to go to the 2nd floor where our room was. No chairs to sit on the balcony that we paid extra for. No ice machine on 2nd floor. Not all channels listed are accessible- kept saying No Signal. Outdoor pool was refreshing but does need maintenance on it - no trash can out by the pool and the one in the gazebo was pretty full. Didn’t get emptied in the 3 days we were there. Sliding glass door was easier to open than it was to close. Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Dingy halls, walls, drop ceiling could all be improved. The breakfast was lacking in terms of offerings and presentation. The side door into the hotel had a screw in it, and you didn't need your room key to enter, rendering any security null and void, anyone could walk into this place at any time. Granted its a 2 star property, I should have known better. Rooms were clean, but they need to lose the carpeting.
