Super 8 by Wyndham Portsmouth - Norfolk

When we arrived and got to our room it smelled of cigarette smoke, marijuana and mildew. There was no comforter on the bed and two very sad looking balled up pillows. The shower did not work properly and the bathroom didn’t look like it was properly sanitized. The door to our room was very hard to open like it was stuck shut. The air conditioner did not want to stay on, looked at the plug and it was not flush to the wall so when you turned on the AC it would shut off. Mini fridge was sweating on the inside. Very sketchy people outside of the room under us at all hours and looked like two cars in the parking lot were broken into and had plastic over their windows! Left for a few hours to attend a concert near by and came back to a very thin blanket balled up on the corner of our bed, which kind of freaked us out. Pool has no water in it and is very small. Checked out the next morning. We could not continue our stay there because we did not feel safe!

The room was adequate. I was bookedfor three nights, but on the second night I was transferred to another room without my consent. Staff moved some of my property and apparently misplaced it. Management has not been responsive to my concerns. Not a pleasant experience.

Awful.. AC didn't work at all, charged me an additional $3 amount to stay there after Expedia said the whole amount was paid, took 10 min to get anyone to check me in on the outside of a locked office.

The room was pretty clean, but strongly smelled of cleaning chemicals lingering throughout the room the entire stay. So heads up to my fellow people with sinus issues. Upon staying for the night, It was loud! Most hotels/motels have quiet hours after a certain time but my neighbors (on all sides: To my left, my right, and below) were out all night being loud. So I was in and out of sleep that night. I recall being so tired when I was woken up that I decided to just go get breakfast at WaWa next door and checkout early. Was supposed to be a quiet solo night to study but will try a different location next time.

Room wasn't clean, had mold, yellow gunk on walls, smelled gross. Cigarette burn holes in sheets on the bed. Walked in, looked around, gave my key back and left.

I paid for a king size room a 2 MONTHS in advance and we checked in after midnight. I was too tired to go back down and figure out why I was given a queen room instead. The next morning, I went and asked the employee why I was given a queen room instead of what I paid for. The man proceeded to tell me it was because I checked in “too far “ after the 3pm check in time so I couldn’t get a king room. I told the man that is ridiculous, I paid in advance for a king room and I would like what I lad for or he could refund me the difference. He said he couldn’t do that so I told him okay, well please give me what I paid for them . He just looked at me like I was asking him for something that was impossible. I sent a message to the property management via booking and will be calling first thing after the holiday to speak with management.

People were selling dr*gs right outside our door we had our newborn child with us. At midnight some woman was screaming about how she gave someone head and didnt get her dr*gs. Be careful if you rent a room here. It was a last minute room we had no choice but to stay here.

First I would have given an higher score but I ordered a non smoking room and must've gotten smoking cause it reaked of cigarettes smoke. Sink was clogged with hair and shower head didn't work properly but they switched it out ASAP. Staff was excellent. No encounters with bed bugs so that's an 5 star there towels and rags were overwhelming used we just bought our own. For the price and area it's in 3 stars Staff gets 5 stars overall 3

Staff was great and had wonderful dining suggestions for people coming from out of town.

The front desk was efficient but not necessarily friendly. The property was run down and noisy. Towels and bedding were thin and worn. There was a lack of outlets No blinds or curtain on the window.

Stay far away from this horrible place! Staff will give away your paid and reserved room! Then claim they cannot accommodate you because the rooms are “full” and awaiting for other guests to “check in”. Staff has horrible attitude when asked “why was my PAID room given away?” He clearly did not understand as he said “it wasn’t given away”…well, obviously I didn’t have my room I paid for. They tried sticking us in a “suite”. This suite was large…basically a whole extra room added but empty and no extra bed as we needed 2. Lights in bathroom did not work. Light switch and electrical wire just hanging. Terrible mold! Sheets with what appeared as blood stains and burn marks. And workers are horrible at keeping the place “safe” as you can clearly see drugs being dealt/used and prostitution. Steer FAR AWAY from this place!!! More like a place for locals that are either drugs or prostituting.

Hot water didn’t work in my room, bathroom door didn’t close, not to mention the traffic at that hotel alone. So much noise outside my room from an altercation outside. I don’t plan on going back there,, I left to check out at crack of dawn before my actual check out. I honestly at that point wanted a refund, very uncomfortable there

OMG the picture is sooo photo shopped ! The bathroom ceiling was falling in and brow stained! I I wouldn't have gotten in soo late because of weather delay! The bed was clean. No bugs we saw! The area is madness people up all night drinking and cussing! I would have left but I was leaving today ad yesterday I was gone until 9pm because I was going to Survivor the show auditions! My husband slept in his clothes ! We definitely was on Survivor! The pictures lie!

The pool was dirty. Rooms were smelly. Room was clean. Barely had any bedding and pillows. Very thin bedsheet. Mold around tub area.

A soon as we pulled up late at night we saw so many drug and prostitution deals happening. Every spot of the property was damaged in some way. The person at the front desk tried to trick us in to paying again. We had to look for a new play at 1am as we felt unsafe even being in the parking lot. Lost out our money for the booking but it was definitely worth it over losing your life and belonging.

Bathroom was absolutely filthy,kids running around screaming all night, waited 30 minutes for someone to come check us in and ended up having to call to get someone to come to the front desk

The pool was not available and I received no laundry service and it was difficult to reach a staff member when I needed some help. If you go out of your room on the morning before the 11:00 am checkout to go to the store or somewhere else and come back to your room, your room key doesn't work anymore so I had to go to the front desk and have them re-code the key to get in my room.

I didn't get any housekeeping service during my stay from 4-1 through 4-4. I left before my reservation was done because I had not received any clean towels from the housekeeping staff and the office manager kept putting me off and didn't try to accommodate me with some linen and towels. And he gave me a room that the bed was not made up yet and the TV was still on and the door was missing the safety latch above the deadbolt lock. The motel had no ice machine so I had to go to WaWa for ice. Also under the bed and on the sides of it was very noisy because it was made of thin metal material and made quite a bit of noise when you sat on it or bumped the sides of it.

I would like a refund. I also got bitten by bedbugs in the rooms were not clean very disappointed.

The room smelled like cigarettes from time to time. The toilet paper holder was broken. The shower had what looked like rusty from the overflow drain to the regular drain. The shower faucet was leaking. The bathroom door wouldn't close. The ceiling light in the main area was flickering.

I did NOT like my stay. It was so HORRIBLE and HORRIC to th point I did not stay. I arrived and instantly it felt off, it wasnt anything that I expected. However, it was my first time in the area. So, I dropped my things off and made it just in time to my reservations that was previously set. So, I dropped my belongs off and made my way to my destination. Upon my arrival back to the room that I booked was examined what I found, I did NOT want to even bath in the room. I immediately called the front desk and received no answer. I then walked to the front office to the attendant there. I informed him of my room he instantly was on defense (I was automatically, because why the tension) sir. I shared what I have discovered, he followed me to my room. The entry of the room indicated forced entry, from the looks of it, this matter has taken place several times.The wood to were the lock is placed to secure security was completely damaged. The bathroom resemble a abandoned room. Lastly, I pulled the sheets on the very bed that I was suppose to rest in, had blood on the sheets, hand prints on the background. Keeping it P.G per adults you could imagine my thoughts. Trafficking (at an all time high, and prostitution possibly) any form of neither O was NIT STAYING AND I DID NOT CARE. Upon the attendant assisting per his energy refunding my funds (paid cash) he DID NOT want too. A different room was then offered to me, I attempted to move pass the experience that was occurring to the point I agreed. However, I requested to view the room before accepting. As the employee opened the door to the replacement room, excuse my language piss (urine) spots were passed visible on the comforter. I was completely over the visit/experience that was taking place. I immediately declined for my funds. I was told to wait for the manager to arrive the following day, whom lives on the premises. I the contacted the law enforcement for assistance. No change.

1 wash cloth 1 towel for 2 days . The tv you had use the volume button on the tv.the tv wouldn't come on when we first got there.the room smelled like someone being smoking in thee for years. The more I sprayed the worse it got. Another family has the same complaint. The young lady that worked Sundays was very nice.

Bed was comfy SKETCHY LOCATION. someone tried to get into our room. Not somewhere to stay unless you’ve packed more than clothes.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean room, could have had more amenities (blow-dryer, iron). Not sure if a lot of working people stay there but several times horns were blowing as early as before 7 am and other room doors opening and closing waking us up.

He is the rudest when I reported theses problems to him he got upset denied everything and told me and my kids to leave just yelling at us we are homeless and had our our belongings with us 3 suitcases and other things we had to pack up and he was rushing us expecting us to be done packing in minutes which was impossible. He got mad because we were still packing called the police on us and completely lied said we weren’t trying to leave when he clearly seen us packing up while he stood in the middle of the door kept saying hurry up. He scared my kids and all. I talked to the officer and explained to the officer what happened the officer then said to me that he’s always getting calls from that hotel because people are always having problems out of that man. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone please go elsewhere

The shower pressure was hard couldnt adjust it so there was alot of water on the floor while showering. Certain wall sockets did work. I was u.avle tobuse the microwave unless i moved it to another location in the room.

I went around 9am on July 3pm to ask for another room because the people over me were making too much noise the guy at the counter didn’t want to change it. I even wanted to extend it but he said he would give me another room neither and he was very rude.

Terrible!!! Just terrible, A/C barely worked, no one was ever at the front desk. It took us 30 mins to check in cause nobody was there. The pool was not open. Couldn’t even get clean towels.

Terrible!!! Just terrible, A/C barely worked, no one was ever at the front desk. It took us 30 mins to check in cause nobody was there. The pool was not open. Couldn’t even get clean towels.

The room smelled of cigarette smoke and the furniture was broken. Good thing it was just a pit stop for our vacation. I did complain to the customer service who did nothing to improve our situation.

I unfortunately had to wait to check in almost two hours after the posted check in time. The headboard was dirty and the hotel (I ordered non-smoking) reeked of cigarettes. The pool was not open which was a surprise, and the TV was broken and didn't have a remote.

Before I got there the money had came out of account before I even checked in then asking for $50 deposit upfront too which I wasn’t expecting then the pool is closed and it was noisy it was really run down just wish I could get my money back cause it wasn’t worth over $100 a night

This motel was absolutely disgusting and scary. I ended up not staying bc it seemed too dangerous. I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH HOTELS.COM because of this experience. This hotel should be condemned!!

The room was unsanitary. Blood on sheets & other body fluids. The bathroom were not clean, the shower curtain had mold on it. The towels were dirty (I bath my daughter & I with my hands ) !

The sheets were very old, dingy an worn. The a.c buttons didn't work. Bugs crawling around. They charge a 3 or 4 dollar hotel fee. The rooms are very over priced for the quality of the hotel.

Our door stuck. The bathroom door was messed up and didn’t close all the way. The pool was not open if it’s not going be opened then why say u have a pool that was one of my main reasons for choosing there. The whole place needs lots of upgrades. This place was super nasty and every room smelled like smoke. My son has asthma and can’t be in the room where everything smells like smoke. I told him unfortunately we cannot stay. He said I’ll have to call to get my refund. However when Travelocity tried to talk to him he refused to approve the requests. I hope someone sees this and never stays!

After the receptionist finally finished her joint we were able to check in. Found the room to be humid, bugs in the bathtub, and the vanity cracked. Everything overall looked very dated and a nice smokers yellow, which is odd for a smoke free facility.

Very disappointing the place is very disgusting and dirty it look like the room was slept in for a week and never get cleaned. The top layer sheet looks clean but if you peel the layers back then you will vomit . The manager said it was a non smoking room and man I tell you he was a damn lier

Sheets and doona were stained heavily. Plaster falling from the ceiling. Horrible neighbourhood. Bums asking for money daily. Homeless everywhere. Should’ve googled Portsmouth VA and Super 8 before booking. It’s basically the dregs of society.

Dirty rooms, no cable tv, no washcloths. Stopped up sink. Yellow and brown tub. Was by myself but I would never allow my family to stay here. Just awful, if I could rate a 0 I would.

There was a $25.00 refundable deposit demanded upon checking in to the hotel. There was additionally a $3.00 non-refundable service fee attached to the check-in process. Neither of these additional fees was mentioned or annotated upon my Hotels.com prepay for this booking. The room was filthy. The bedding was dirty. The towels and wash cloths were dirty. The shower curtain was filthy. The water was lukewarm initially, but rapidly turned cold. The furniture and fixtures were delapidated, old and broken. I was supremely uncomfortable during my stay.

The room was ok. There was only 1 outlet in the bedroom and it was on the floor. The shower didnt get hot, warm but not hot. The tv didnt work and there were cigarette burns in the blankets. It was sketchy with people right out by our door that were drunk or on something. Probably wont be coming back.

So much better than before!!! Rooms need a little more work on them. Was upset about not being pet friendly.

It could use better housekeeping. Some of the sockets didnt work. The bathroom light nor fan worked.

Very rude and not understanding, canceled my booking (which if it was explained to me nicely wouldn't have been a big deal) talked down to me and interrupted me. Made sure he was louder when interrupting me.

This property is minimal service. No soap or shampoo in the rooms. TV did not work, wifi password did not work.

There was no lock on the door to the unit you could see light through the door on the unit

the room was filthy the bathtub was discusting the tv didnt work after watching the repairman for 45 min while he fixed it we just wanted to go to bed and had to wait for him to fix it people knocking on our door at all hours of the night looking for someone loud parties in the parking lot all night couldnt sleep kept looking out to see if someone was screwing around with our car the place was gross and if i hadnt of paid in advance i would of rather slept in my car the place was a complete dump

I booked two rooms they only let me check in one the one I was checked in was very dirty the toilet had stains on the seat and in the toilet

The manager on duty moved the room - but still didn't feel right nor comfortable so we did NOT stay the night. I thought that by being a Wyndam property it would be better - but no. I did not feel safe.

The staff was very helpful

The rent was low so I didn't expect an extravagant room. However, we had to body slam room 242's door to open it. To get out we had to pull very hard on the knob. The TV didn't have service, the toilet rocked, there was only a sheet on the bed, no blanket, and the smoke detector was chirping. I called the front desk and when the manager came to fix it, he took the dead battery, hung the smoke detector back on the wall, said good night and left. We checked out the next day, even though we rented for two nights.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!!! PICTURES ARE NOT ACCURATE AT ALL!!! Staff was rude and hotel is disgusting, mismatched furniture, SOOOO DIRTY!! Everything about this hotel was falsified! Looks like a place that hookers frequent!! Sooo gross!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Places is a dump, all the out-lights were pushed in the wall or hanging and not secure. Room liked like an ash tray, and its a smoke free room they claim. Staff was not friendly and didn't listen well. Door was sticking and didn't open right or close properly. I had several allergy attacks here, towels are all brown stained. Tv in room worked off and on, lots of dead bugs in the corners of the room, looked like it was never cleaned. Bed and pillow quality is terrible.

Property is old and very outdated needs a lot of improvements. Staff is great and very helpful.

I like their Customer service. Very helpful , cooperative and respectful.

When we arrived men standing around all over just looking also not a single car in parking lot next morning there was 4 cars that did stay what a joke couldn't understand the neighbor motel was fantastic

Place is beat is every way, door wouldn't open right ,or close right. AC didn't work tv didn't work frig didn't work, toilet leaked dirty bed sheets. Stains everywhere. Stinks. Shower didn't work right. Towels dirty.
