Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its convenient location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with hidden fees, maintenance issues, and inconsistent service quality.

- Maintenance issues in some rooms

Good location. Nice modern property
- 5/5
Staff was extremely professional, polite, and attentive. They even printed out my PSU graduation ticket while taking care of several people. I stay in hotels frequently. This is the best stay I have experienced in months.
- 4/5
HVAC could not be adjusted, staff gave complex description of system which boiled down to you cannot change! Room was cold and never warmed up.
- 5/5
I stayed here one night. Great place and I would definitely stay here again. It looks like they have a ton of stuff to do as a family or solo. Two thumbs up.
- 5/5
The breakfast is very limited. This one can be definitely improved.
- 5/5
Great hotel, happy hour was great. Games and outdoor seating are fun amenities
- 4/5
The property is centrally located, with friendly helpful staff at front desk. The room was small with very little drawer space for clothes and had to ask for hangers in closet. They did bring them right away to the room, included breakfast was plain: begel, yogurt, cereal, no juice- coffee, tea or water. The bathroom was not real clean, and kinda of dingy. The mirror was great, had a small space in center that stayed clear when using shower. The gear closet was intriguing but we did not "borrow" anything but heard others say it was good. The outdoor space was wonderful with nightly stores. The waitstaff and bartenders were not very attentive and did not seem happy to serve. Had to go to bar both times and they were short with us when we tried to order. The $40 night garage is super small with super small parking spots, they had 2 electric spots for charging. Overall, pleasant stay due to location and front desk staff- mainly OZ.
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff. Evening s'mores was fun, but breakfast was disappointment. Good location and good parking. Would come back again, definitely.
- 4/5
The hotel was fine. Nice to have breakfast and the yard was pleasant. Great Location. Good for a trail run in Marquam Park. The only problem was the pillow top mattress, which every hotel now has. If you want coffee in your room, you can request a coffee maker.
- 5/5
Hotel Zags is a cool stop while in Portland. The place itself is clean and comfortable. Staff are personable and helpful. There is a very nice patio to hang out on, and the lounge spots feel like a living room. It has a bit of a retro vibe in an interesting way. The location is near the light rail, and Pioneer Square in addition to the waterfront are easily walkable. A continental breakfast gets the day started along with a nice roast coffee. This place has been on my radar for awhile, and I would definitely stay on future visits.
- 4/5
I was not impressed that they expected the guests to make their own beds instead of having housekeeping make the beds by default. You must request housekeeping if you want it. If you use a wheelchair, be aware that their accessible rooms are very small in terms of space between the beds and around the beds, and the beds cannot accommodate a Hoyer lift under them. The beds are very soft and may not work well for certain disabilities. They have no roll-in showers, only tubs, if you need two beds in your accessible room. However, the staff were very helpful in moving the beds so that I could navigate the room better. All in all, I would stay there again, keeping in mind the extra charges that are not listed on the reservation.
- 5/5
Very much enjoyed our stay! Right downtown and easy to get around without a car :) The patio and arcade were fun :)
- 4/5
It was an okay experience for a brief stay for its convenient location. Breakfast was simple. A downside is that several of their furnitures are old, e.g. the ceiling in the bathroom, the edge of the sink table, and the iron board

Stayed one night at Hotel Zags. I got a quiet room and had a great nights sleep on a very comfy bed. I also did a "build your own smores" plate which was pretty fun and the kitchen gave me a carton of milk to wash it down. The cold continental breakfast bar in the morning was fine but I would not recommend it for someone who is diabetic. Overall it was a really nice stay and next time I have to be in Portland overnight I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great hotel! Great location..great price...tons of amenities...bar, restaurant, free pinball games and lots more!
- 3/5
The location was very nice and everything was within close vicinity. T
- 5/5
Great outdoor space and game room. Fantastic for families or groups of people. Close to transit. Food nearby.
- 5/5
Very good customer service from people at front desk my whole 10 day trip
- 4/5
Breakfast, front desk personnel (except manager) All the stuff in the library was cool, but I really didn't have the time to take advantage of any of it. Would have been a better value for me if that was optional.
- 5/5
Very fun property with lots of perks. Happy hour, games, gear lending, pinball machines, bikes. Super hospitable staff, including CiCi and Elsa! The HVAC is old and wonky but the staff worked with us to an acceptable solution.
- 3/5
This hotel has great amenities for the whole family including a s’mores hour from 7-8, a room filled with free rentals and great activities for kids. It was clean and beautiful. That being said, no one warned me that the HVAC system is connected to the heat and anytime it is colder than 55 outside the heat overrides the thermostat. I set the thermostat to 67 and tossed and turned all night to wake up in 81 degree heat!! My staff supplied solution? To turn off the air completely if I wanted to sleep the following night. I found this to be a bit stressful and worried I’d get no sleep for a second night in a row. It only went up 5 degrees instead of 14 when I turned it off but I wanted to warn anyone who might be staying here in the summer so they could avoid having the same issue. Clean hotel with great amenities though, and great value for the price! I just wish I had gotten more rest.
- 3/5
For what it worth it was close to theaters, and downtown attractions. Now moving forward. Parking was 40$ a night and a 35 dollar destination tax that was not included in the original booking. Bring our one night stay to 225. The room was a king size bed but unable to change temp in room, as well as the tub was installed wrong having an uneven floor. Breakfast was included but for how much we paid for a room we were left wanting. Cereal options were box cereal, and only prepackaged food. Nothing prepared in house. Lastly there was a woman being kick out during our stay, which added entertainment but was slightly disturbing.
- 2/5
Hotel is conveniently located. Loved the arcade room. Room is on the smaller side. Was not happy that they didn’t have a coffee machine in the room. The thermostat in the room automatically set the temperature to 86 and we were roasting in the room. The continental breakfast was a let down with just some store bought bagels and cereals as options. Parking charges works out to $70 a day with all the additional fees and taxes.
- 5/5
I was looking for a hotel near PSU, and the Zags was a great option: convenient location, good value for money, and good service. I wish breakfast had more options than just the continental.
- 4/5
Breakfast
- 5/5
Loved it. It was clean and safe. I'm a solo traveler and I loved that. I felt totally safe and the staff was really nice
- 5/5
This was a delightful place to stay. The courtyard has a wide range of games and activities and a play area for small kids. In the evening, being able to relax there and make s’mores was such a treat. The room was comfortable and spacious. I had an issue with my room being too cold but the staff quickly brought a space heater. Service was excellent. Would stay here again.
- 4/5
The location is great on the south end of Portland. It’s very close to the Saturday farmers market at PSU. It’s easy to get too many nice restaurants in the area and also to walk into the main part of downtown or down to the riverfront. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is not very good. The hard-boiled eggs as the protein is less than to be desired, especially if you’re there for multiple days. they do have some yogurt and other selections of bread and cereals.
- 4/5
The play room Cleanliness Friendly staff Bar tender was too new and drinks were not good
- 5/5
Great location, very clean and really fun things to do! The parking feels steep, but I understand the cost. They have EV chargers in the garage, but the two attached to the building near the entrance are out of order.
- 5/5
Not only were the staff so incredibly nice but every single one of them was so well dressed! I mean incredibly dapper. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this hotel and honestly I was very impressed! My room was nice, it was very clean. We did the s’mores downstairs which was super fun. The little restaurant is really cute and attached all in all a great time.
- 4/5
Everything was good - need more electric chargers - we were only able to use once in the 4 days
- 4/5
Welcoming and fun environment. Easy access to quick continental breakfast. Paid parking is expensive. Clean rooms, location close to many downtown spots. Basic and clean rooms.
- 4.5/5
Location was perfect four our needs. I loved the shuffleboard table and the games. The complimentary cold breakfast was depressing
- 5/5
The property was beautiful, I loved what they did with the outdoor space and the food was delicious.
- 3/5
Bar staff was the best part of our stay at the hotel. Location was great, patio beautiful, but property was average. Had room issue and the hotel staff was very quick to relocate us to alternate room. Staff were very helpful but needs some attention to facility.
- 4/5
The room we stayed at does not have a smart tv.
- 4/5
If you are traveling with family there is also games in the lobby for enjoyment.
- 4.5/5
The only thing that was not up to par was the water pressure in the shower, it was not the worst I’ve experienced but it could be better. Would still stay at this hotel again without hesitation.
- 3/5
Nice location and decent hotel overall. There were some issues but overall I would stay here again. I like the available amenities including the patio, restaurant/bar (though it closes super early), and the items available to borrow/rent. The staff were nice enough and helpful. I liked the location and found it to be pretty convenient. The bed and bedding were comfortable. However, there were some obvious signs of wear and tear in the room. One of our bathroom towels had a large hole in it and our rooms fire alarm malfunctioned our second night so they had to move us to another room. They gave us a $30 discount (waived one night of the amenity fee) but that did not feel like an appropriate adjustment for the annoyance and inconvenience of having the fire alarm go off when we were already in bed and then having to call the desk, wait on them to arrive, wait on them to find us a new room and get the keys, and then pack up and move all our stuff into a new room.
- 1/5
We had prepaid for the room and parking and at check out were informed there was an additional $40 fee for amenities which we were not aware of and not included in the Expedia quoted price. Needless to say, we were not happy and the day manager waived the fee. They also informed us of a $60 deposit fee at checkout which will be reimbursed after check out. We will not return.
- 4/5
I really like the new games available in the main hall. Parking is very limited and there isn’t a way to know if the underground parking has any spots before paying.
- 5/5
Love this hotel! Beautiful, clean property, full of fun games and activities and offered s’mores at their fire pits in the courtyard in the evenings. So fun!
- 3/5
Poor
- 1.5/5
I liked the bed and pillows. The hotel looked cute. I didn’t like that the hotel advertised having a gym and it doesn’t. You have to walk a couple blocks to 24 Hour Fitness. The heat didn’t work. It appeared they only had air conditioning. I was pretty cold. The food didn’t look appetizing. I didn’t want to eat their breakfast. The staff in the kitchen wasn’t nice to me. I’m suppose to return to Portland in August. I will not stay at Zags. I got an Airbnb instead.
- 2/5
The room was freezing cold, we had to request a heater!!
- 5/5
Games, restaurant, place to check out bikes or camping picnic fishing gear and much more. Soap wasn’t filled in the shower
- 5/5
We have stayed here multiple times - great place for a trip into Portland!
- 2/5
The room was fine. Clean with a comfortable bed, towels, and a strong shower. Check in staff was not friendly. The advertised EV chargers were mostly inoperable (3 of 4 out of order).
- 4.5/5
HVAC system is not controllable by room. On check-in our room was 57 degrees. When I asked, I was told due to the age of the building, only AC or heat could be on for the whole hotel and to open our window. No extra toilet paper, had to ask for it.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Great location for the Keller, restaurants and public transportation. The staff at the desk were very helpful and covered and secure parking was a plus. The bed was VERY comfortable.
- 3.5/5
The staff were truly helpful - our initial room had an odd smell and they were so friendly in helping us find a new room. The location is great if you're going to a show at the Keller Auditorium or wanting to visit PSU. They also offer a parking garage, which is great. They have fun stuff to do, there's video games and s'mores and bikes to rent. The hotel needs some TLC and the rooms were in need of a thorough cleaning. Our first room had an odd smell (we could tell the previous guest's scent lingered), and our second room had makeup stains in the walls (really), the bathroom smelt of plumbing, and there was an empty box of wine in our closet. Also, the bathroom door was incredibly difficult to open and close. The carpets were dingy. Just in need of some deep cleaning.
- 4/5
The customer service wasn’t that good.
- 5/5
The room was great although light on drawers if you like to unpack like we do. The restaurant downstairs and the front desk had friendly and helpful staff. Best of all, there are three free pinball machines in the lobby! Fun to play anytime and a great conversation starter with fellow guests.
- 5/5
Great room in Portland in a convenient location.! Fun s’mores night on patio with cool gas fire pits!
- 3.5/5
Good location Shower was inadequate, pillows were hard. The worst was not knowing that it costs $40/night to park.
- 5/5
The continental breakfast was well managed and efficiently operated by a dedicated gentleman
- 4.5/5
I loved the parking, and longe area
- 3.5/5
Bathroom door would not close. Other furniture was in poor condition.
- 4/5
The lobby and amenities here are wonderful; and the restaurant and outside patio areas are huge pluses. The staff was mostly very nice; however there was a tall black woman at the front counter who was fairly rude meanwhile every single other staff member was very very kind and helpful. The parking situation here is terrible, and don’t bother talking to the front desk about the parking you pay $40/night for. If you don’t fit in a space and you’ve already paid for parking, DON’T park in the monthly parking. Overall would stay here again but I’d also like to check out better places.
- 4/5
The only area the hotel falls short is breakfast. Every morning, the coffee was empty and it was hard to locate staff to fill it, which took a LONG time. Food selection is extremely limited, other than boiled eggs, there was no protein and the toaster didn’t work. If you have food allergies such as celiac, you could have a yogurt and a boiled egg only. The room itself was very clean. The microwave is located by the elevators and the rooms are very cold, which is great with the soft bedding. Parking was simple and easily accessible.
- 5/5
Loved the location and the place.
- 5/5
The game room was a nice feature. Who doesn't love retro video arcade games?
- 4/5
Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Staff were super sweet, s’mores in the evening looked like fun but we had other plans. This was a great location to walk to the Keller for a Broadway show and so many great restaurants near by. Perfect staycation for us!
- 5/5
It is a really fun atmosphere, staff was wonderful!Loved pinball machines.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
We stay here everytime we visit my daughter in Portland always a pleasant stay. Clean and cozy.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, quick response by maintenance when our smoke detector beeped low battery.
- 5/5
Was great service, would definitely be back there whenever I’m back in Oregon. Was walkable to many places like the museum and some places we decided to have for dinner
- 5/5
Great stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was okay.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, and staff was very friendly and helpful! The hotel itself was so nice, and their game room was so cool!
- 3/5
At arrival we weren’t notified of any amenities or the breakfast time or parking pass needed. The bathroom wasn’t dirty per se but there was hair from the previous people at the tub and round the toilet seat. The room itself was very nice with a great view.
- 5/5
Nice area, convenient location, and nice hotel with bar and restaurant.
- 4/5
Property was nice, great location, staff was very helpful and polite. I wish breakfast was better and onsite restaurant was under staffed and unable to accommodate us for dinner.
- 5/5
Lovely room, very quiet, great location, friendly helpful staff
- 4/5
i encountered an unfriendly staff person but otherwise everyone has been nice
- 4/5
Great check in, convenient parking (right under the building), friendly and helpful staff. Ok continental breakfast fare. Arcade games, a room of stuff to check out and use—I thought about grabbing the guitar. Only issues were a very slow draining sink and a toilet that wouldn’t flush unless you monkeyed around with the tank innards. I mentioned this and they kindly offered to waive my “amenity fee” which had been included in the Expedia package price. Overall a nice experience. The room was otherwise great with a comfy bed. Would stay again!
- 4/5
Knowledgeable and welcoming staff was attentive to the needs of their guests. Since the A/C was being fixed, they provided a good fan. Excellent restaurant with hard working servers. Hotel has various equipment (bikes, cameras, fishing) to rent. This place is in a fairly central location that walking around is manageable.
- 5/5
Everything was great. The room was very nice and staff were very helpful. It’s right in the central of downtown Portland so it made travels very convenient. I liked that they had a garage parking lot, it made it feel more secured and safe.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Everything is perfect. Strong recommends.
- 3/5
First room was not cleaned unmade bed trash cans were full and bathroom was messy second room was clean but the pant in the bathroom was peeling off the walls and the faucets still had smudge, including the tables next to the bed in a empty plastic bag was underneath the curtains
- 5/5
Staff was nice, rooms clean, restaurant food just ok
- 5/5
Hotel Zags is a very nice hotel. The staff is friendly, the hotel is close to services and they provide games for free.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. Always stay here
- 5/5
Clean and family friendly staff! Breakfast could be better. Staffs were super accommodating
- 2/5
Towels, soap and shower gel never replaced or was empty the entire visit
- 5/5
Loved this place when it was the Modero. Love it more now. Great staff. Great location. Great room.
- 4/5
Good vibe in common areas but rooms showing age. Breakfast was bland with little choice and no healthy options. Rooms are not soundproof. Can hear voices from next door and the noise from buses and street car is loud. Shower and tub was so so.
- 4/5
Hotel is family friendly and the staff are very helpful and kind. Lots of fun amenities - we especially like the s'mores and the game room. Parking is convenient. Room was comfortable but the shower was a little dated and very low water pressure.
- 2/5
Not very friendly staff
- 5/5
Friendly attentive staff, rooms were clean, plenty of on property activities.
- 5/5
The room was nicely appointed and very clean, the onsite activities were great, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the location was highly convenient. Overall, a great stay. The only thing I didn't like is that there are no stairs to the rooms. The elevators are a bit small and a bit slow and I would have just preferred to have just taken stairs to and from the room. Otherwise, it's a really great value.
- 3/5
The rooms to me are not new ,you can tell.its an older hotel . Staff is lacking of knowledge about surrounding area. The washroom doors dont lock and door doesnt close fully so there is a gap if you are dtaying with a friend if u want privacy innthe wshroom it a little uncomfortable. Outside patio os nice if its summer. And there is a $40 destination fee u have to consider when booking
- 5/5
Car had issues and the staff helped as much as possible, great people. Nice rooms.
- 5/5
The Zagz hotel had a lot of great amenities, game room, puzzle table’ free arcade machine. There’s a restaurant on site. The drinks are decent however the food not so much. The continental breakfast is lacking to say the least, there was coffee, hot water, but no tea. The host was generous enough to go find me some teabags in the rooms. There was no fresh juice. They had cereal, granola, prepackaged yogurt, bagels, muffins, and boiled eggs. They offer a s’mores hour from 7pm to 8pm, which is cool. We didn’t get to partake in it but very nice offering. They have a lot of free items you can use yoga mats, kayaks, all kind of stuff in the lobby. No fitness center on site although the advertisement of the amenities on site listed that they had a fitness center on site and also one that they partnered with 24 hour fitness which is just a block away though. The riverfront is only a few blocks away easy walking distance. There’s a MAX stop right outside of the hotel. I’m not sure which line it is. I believe it’s either green or orange. I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN.
- 3/5
The amenities fee were not worth it
- 4/5
Very welcoming to dogs and kids. Convenient for lots of things in town. Enormous selection of games and such things to help occupy time. Parking is at a premium and there is a charge - most downtown Portland hotels are the same. A downside is that there are ZERO hooks or racks in the bathroom for either clothes or wet towels. This is a problem if you don’t need/want room servicing every day. And if you have multiple people in the room. Rooms not terribly soundproof. Breakfast really was VERY slim and they kept running out of coffee.
- 4/5
The breakfast was adequate but not expansive. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. My kids loved the classic video games and smores nights.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff, enjoyed complimentary smores on the patio, arcade and box games, pinball. Would love to go back.
- 4/5
The property is definitely older. The amenities were great except there wasn’t a pool. The free breakfast was nothing to brag about. The best thing about the stay was the exceptional hospitality that was shown by the staff.
- 4/5
Only 2 complaints about our room. The thermostat could not be self-controlled, so was unable to change the temperature and fan speed. Also unable to open the window, so room was too warm and air was stuffy.
- 5/5
Super nice front desk
- 4/5
Nicely refurbished hotel in a convenient location.
- 5/5
Booked last minute and it was perfect! Staff were nice and welcoming. Free breakfast was a plus! I love the gym it was the 24 hrs fitness(they dont open 24hrs though) walking distance to a lot of place. We walk to apple, dr. Martins , luclac vietnamese kitchen. It was raining so we have to uber bag not bad at all. Will stay here again.
- 5/5
Very personable staff lots of amenities too bad missed the smores!
- 5/5
Great room. Clean. Always love staying here.
- 5/5
Friendly staff continent location nice place
- 5/5
Very nice and comfortable room. Everything clean and in working order.
- 5/5
The room was clean and bed comfy... the staff was amazingly helpful and kind!
- 5/5
Los cuartos estaban limpios y e
- 5/5
We loved our stay at hotel zags!! Such a fun and unique space, filled with things for the whole family to do. We didnt bring our kids this time but absolutely will next time. Its so family friendly and game filled. We especially loved the amenities and being able to rent out items, like a guitar! Solid for a traveling musician. The food and drinks were delicious as well! We'll be back soon!
- 5/5
Check in staff we're impeccable and extremely helpful. Amenities in room and activities in the lobby were outstanding
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and just some fun amenities we didn't quite get to enjoy. Looking forward to our next time. Great location.
- 2/5
The breakfast was very poor and worse than a cheap motel. Restaurant is basically burger and fries
- 5/5
Great place with great amenities
- 5/5
Room, view, staff, pet friendly - I am definitely retuning as this might be one the best places I’ve stayed in PDX.
- 5/5
Beware that Expedia mentions a Desitnation Fee charge, but the hotel calls the charge a Guest Amenities Fee. You are getting charged for all of the amenities, so be sure to use all of them. Some other notes. Parking is expensive, and any VIP credit is only good for one night. The breakfast doesn’t have many options if you have dietary restrictions. (e.g., gluten-free options), so be prepared to dine elsewhere if you have dietary restrictions.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff was really professional and nice.
- 3/5
We used to love coming to the zag. The staff used to be wonderful and friendly where they would ask us about our stay. What brings you to Portland? And you should check out this place. The person checking us in was cold and not friendly at all straight business. This would also be the first time there wasn't a coffee machine in the room of any hotel I've stayed at. Was informed at check out we could've requested one at check in but they don't keep them in the rooms anymore due to people stealing them. And not sure why plastic sheeting on the carpet where you get off the elevator.
- 5/5
Location
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Staff was super nice. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was decent. Really liked having smores for an evening treat. Really appreciated knowing our car was safe in the parking garage below Thanks for a great stay : )
- 3/5
The bathroom ceiling was falling apart. There were a lot of surprise charges on my bill. Parking is $40 per night not per stay. The breakfast is pretty basic and fine if you can eat gluten. The access to the 24hour service was great and free pinball is always fun!
- 5/5
I loved it loved Kyle. He was our excellent all the staff was very wonderful. Love the fact that they’ll give us s’mores and get to do it at night. Everything was excellent.
- 2/5
Staff were wonderful but hotel was cold and uncomfortable. Cost for parking was absolutely ridiculous… it cost me equal to the car rental to park. Unsafe shower/bathtub set up. Now others in my group didn’t have the same problem with shower however we were all cold throughput the building. Strange since we are Colorado people and cold isn’t an issue. Trying not to whine but a very disappointing stay…
- 5/5
Staff were great. Lyle was the best.
- 5/5
Kyle at the front desk was amazing. We really appreciate him. We will book again here when we come again
- 5/5
The vibes at this hotel are amazing. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, cozy and inviting spots to sit and hang out everywhere you look. The rooms were spotless and appealing. My only negatives were: no coffee maker in the room, no locks on the bathroom door, and the breakfast pastries were pretty stale. But the price and location was right and I'll definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Clean and friendly
- 5/5
Lovely staff members, they were all very friendly. Loved the access to games, gym voucher for local gym. Room was clean.
- 5/5
We were traveling with kids, the arcade and game room were selling points for me. The kids loved having something to do and there was something for everyone in the game room. Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Staff excellent. Careful of all extra charges. Room is clean but vents makes loud noises when heating comes up. Rooms need update.
- 3/5
The free breakfast could have a slightly better offer in terms of variety. I understand and appreciate that it is free however if you offer it should have a bit more variety. The room was good but could hear a lot of noise from the room next to us and above us
- 5/5
Room was just right. Hotel offerings were great and atmosphere very cool. Set in the heart of Portland, within walking to everything!
- 3/5
The hotel was very clean. It’s advertised as family friend and it was, the free arcade and games was perfect for my kids but unfortunately the room was very small for a family. I was also not aware I would have to pay extra $20 for parking and $30 for amenities which are usually included in the price of the room, anyhow breakfast was part of the extra charge and their “continental breakfast” was horrible! I hade stayed at a holiday inn the night previous and they had an amazing spread compared to this place that had muffins cereal and milk… anyways I would not recommend.
- 5/5
Many amenities that were worth the stay
- 3/5
Someone with mobility issues should not have to go all the way down to the lobby to get a cup for water to take their medications with. The bed needed to be about 4-6 inches taller. Even the furniture in the lobby was low to the ground. Ok for kids but not adults. The bagels were hard and the coffee bitter for the continental breakfast. Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
VERY friendly staff; EXCELLENT room!
- 3/5
No coffee maker in room, limited amenities in room, but room was clean and in good condition. No cups at all in room. Great location for event at Keller Auditorium. Parking was good.
- 5/5
Welcoming and warm staff, great amenities and lots of fun extras!
- 3/5
Front Desk Staff was really pleasant. The hot water didn't work in our sink, and the bar staff was not friendly or knowledgeable.
- 3/5
Can I say The location is good, and the staff are friendly. The bedroom I stayed in was fine, but the bathroom was not clean. There were black spots (which looked like mold or stains) and a dead bug on the shelf below the sink. The shelf also looked dusty, so I did not use the towels stored there. I informed the front desk on the first night of my stay and requested that housekeeping clean the bathroom. I even texted them photos of the sink. However, the only thing that was done the next day was that the trash can was emptied. This was very disappointing. I think a 4 star hotel should be much better than this. ChatGPT said: Yes—you can say that, and it’s clear, but if this is for a hotel review or a complaint, it will sound more polished and effective with a few small edits. Here’s a refined version that keeps your meaning and tone but reads more professional and balanced: The location is good, and the staff are friendly. The bedroom I stayed in was fine; however, the bathroom was not clean. There were black spots (which appeared to be mold or stains) and a dead bug on the shelf below the sink. The shelf also looked dusty, so I did not feel comfortable using the towels stored there. I informed the front desk on the first night of my stay and requested that housekeeping clean the bathroom. I also texted photos of the sink as requested. Unfortunately, the only action taken the following day was that the trash can was emptied. This was very disappointing. I expect
- 3/5
Ease of check in was great. Pre ordered items not in room at arrival.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff upon arrival, great food.
- 5/5
The room was absolutely adorable and perfectly suited to our needs. Everything felt thoughtful, cozy, and clean. The roll-in shower was a standout. It was spacious, spotless, and incredibly easy to use, which we truly appreciated. We also loved seeing the games and communal touches throughout the hotel. While this trip wasn’t exactly a “fun and games” kind of visit, it was nice knowing they were there. Hopefully next time we can enjoy that side of the hotel a bit more. The only area that fell short was breakfast. The options were very limited, drink choices were basically just milk and coffee, the hard-boiled eggs were unfortunately not great, and the toaster was jammed with old muffins for two days straight. It felt like an afterthought compared to how well everything else was handled. That said, the overall experience was warm, comfortable, and incredibly accommodating during a vulnerable time for us. Hotel Zags is a charming, well-located spot with a lot going for it, and we would absolutely consider staying again.
- 5/5
The hotel was such a cool space. Very unique
- 3/5
Tub looks dirty,Staff good, WiFi down and no break fast in day they return portion of our fees to compensate us.
- 5/5
Extremely friendly staff and the goodie bag for my pup was a nice holiday touch. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
A fun, boutique hotel on a good block in Portland.
- 4/5
Nice vibe
- 3/5
Soundproofing between rooms was not perfect. Complimentary breakfast was not decent. Didn't know the parking was not free. Overall, it was fine.
- 4/5
Loved the interior of the hotel & all the fun amenities they had like s’mores making but just wish the free breakfast had more options.
- 5/5
Such a fun stay! Hotel had so much to do and was very unique
- 5/5
Great deal! Perfect location.
- 5/5
Very clean room and many good amenities.
- 5/5
The safe parking. Friendly staff & clean room. Loved the festive decor.
- 5/5
Staff is amazing! And we love all the additional amenities pin ball machines, s'more bar, and the snow ball fight. They make a vacation next level.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, convenient location, good customer service, parking on the lower level was affordable. Bed was comfy. The pillows were marshmallows…not my favorite. The channel selection was kind of lame but who cares as we were not there to veg in the room.
- 5/5
Beautiful space. I had a wonderful time by the fire talking with friends and enjoying the wonderful environment. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. A great place to stay.
- 1/5
I hated that they had hidden fees. There is
- 5/5
Are you kidding ? everything was more than perfect
- 3/5
The room left a lot to be desired, especially the bathroom. The toilet seat was peeling and didn't fit the toilet, so it was askew and moved every time you sat on it (also noticed the lobby bathrooms had the same issue). The bottom of the tub had low/high spots so it would move under you when you showered - creating a very unstable feeling. The bed didn't have a fitted sheet - it was a flat sheet tucked in, and it wouldn't stay tucked as you slept on it. I know this is an older facility, but I think some care could be put into the rooms to make them a touch better.
- 4/5
No room coffee!
- 3/5
Although the staff is great, check in was great , the primary reason i booked the hotel was availability of EV charger but after reaching there, i realized that they just have 2 out which 1 was occupied and the other one was not working. So the whole point of booking a hotel with EV charging was moot. I could have stayed some place else with cheaper rates and similar amenities.
- 5/5
Friendly staff:) helpful too!
- 5/5
Staff customer service and friendliness was top notch!
- 5/5
I wish that they offered a real breakfast. It would really make a huge difference in customer experience.
- 4/5
Parking was safe and staff was friendly and helpful
- 2/5
The water was luke warm at best. I was shivering in the shower.
- 4/5
Didnt use the parking service. Used public transportatiin and that was easy and right out the door.
- 4/5
The hotel overall was a wonderful place to stay and Alex at the front desk helped with our special requests. My only complaint is their 3rd party answering service. They did not have correct information on the front desk contact number and their hours. They said check out time was 9am when it is actually 12pm. Also the email they gave me to the front desk was not correct.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff. Good location.
- 5/5
All good
- 4/5
Parking felt safe and secure
- 1/5
I booked this thinking it was a good deal and had a convenient location. However the price I booked was not the price I was charged. Upon checking out I was charge a long list of extra fees which hasn’t been included in the original price I booked at. They charge a 30 dollar a night amenities fee for s’mores, water bottles (which we never received), breakfast (which is bagels, muffins, light yogurt, bananas which are so green and tasteless that I thought they were plantains. Eggs only appeared the second day. Teabags were hard to come by. No cheeses at all although they list that. Not a good spread by any standards. The beds were very hard. The arcade had three pinball machines - two of which were out of order, miss Pac-Man and a few others. There were no microwaves in the room so you had to go down the hall for the shared microwaves for the floor. The ice machine in the lobby was a brick of ice so we couldn’t use it. Only one car charger in the parking garage was working so that isn’t something they should be advertising as a perk. The garage exit gate doesn’t work so you have to drive up the entrance gate at your own peril. After being charged an additional $150! dollars, this hotel wasn’t any cheaper than the better hotels in the area. Book if you likely will use the s’mores, arcade and rental bikes but if not you can get a better deal elsewhere. I was also supposed to get a $20 parking voucher but was charged full price.
- 3/5
It needs a good refresh and updating the $30 facilities fee is a scam just another way to get Customer’s money. There was no value for that $30 amenities. Not sure what those entitled I didn’t use any no coffee in the bedroom coffee with included continental was terrible hotel wasn’t very clean. Customer service was OK but definitely does not look as nice as the listing I would look elsewhere unless you’re on a tight budget, but you want something OK.
- 5/5
Clean room, helpful staff, great amenities. Enjoyed my brief stay.
- 5/5
Great friendly staff, clean rooms and the activities they have to do on site are a plus!
- 4/5
The room was clean. Loved the smores.
- 1/5
PARKING = BAIT + SWITCH. They OVERSELL their parking. If you go out, when you come back, you may not be able to park. They refund what you paid for it, but you're suddenly left trying to find another place to park your vehicle late at night. Several other guests returned from concerts, etc, and were faced with the same dilemma.
- 1/5
I stayed at this zags hotel Nov 3-6. Less than 8 channels. Gave me 2 Roku for my Tv and didn’t Work. Gave me a new room with no controllers and tv still didn’t work. Stains On chairs. Wall paper peeling in bathroom
- 4/5
Pretty ok. Great location, friendly staff, clean room with excellent bed and quiet view. Not a place to stay if you have allergies. Down pillow and ducts need cleaning. Toilet paper is the worst, so bring your own. Continental breakfast more limited than says on website. Website also claims you can order hot if you want. Should be you can order out. I will return, because of location, but will come prepared.
- 4/5
Great location. Easy walking distance to mass transit and downtown shops. Quiet room. Felt safe and secure. Easy parking. Would certainly consider staying again.
- 5/5
MY FAMILY AND I LOVED THIS PLACE!!!! They have so many things within the hotel to do, including toys and a play area for kids. Staff was amazing and the parking was extremely convenient. Will definitely stay again
- 4/5
We stayed here before my son left for Army. It was fine
- 3/5
Jay was amazing ! They was reliable and helpful! The room was okay. But there was a few times I think the sink was clogged and there was black stuff all in the sink. Also the shower was definitely clogged standing in a pool of water showering. Also the garage doors were broken so it was definitely an inconvenience to get in and out easily.
- 5/5
I stay at the Zags whenever I travel to Portland. It is conveniently located, affordable, clean and friendly.
- 5/5
Staff were great
- 1/5
Right when we arrived, we noticed a strong smell of gas in the building—especially in the basement parking area and continuing into the elevators and first floor. We reported it to the staff and were told they were aware of it, but they “didn’t know where it was coming from.” That alone was unsettling. We also got stuck in one of the elevators twice and had to pry the doors open ourselves to get out. Clearly, the building is not being maintained properly. The bathroom on our floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in some time. The ceiling had chipping paint and what appeared to be mold. The room itself felt old, musty, and worn—not at all like the polished presentation online. One of the most concerning issues was the design of the sliding bathroom door. It overlaps with the closet door, so when one opens, the other closes. It’s very easy to get your fingers caught — and unfortunately, my partner did. He lost part of the tip of his finger and was bleeding. When we tried to call the front desk for basic first aid, the phone in the room didn’t even work. We went downstairs to report what happened, and the response was incredibly disappointing. There was no apology, no sense of concern, and the manager was not available. The lack of care around a clear safety hazard
- 4/5
Helpful staff. Convient location. Nice beds.
- 5/5
Everything was great even parking!
- 3/5
Courteous staff and cool amenities
- 1/5
I travel quite a bit and this was the worse hotel I’ve stayed at in years. The room was dirty, especially the carpets. The bathroom shower was clogged. Even basic things like sufficient towels weren’t in place. Also, the front desk staff were rude and cold. I noticed they didn’t greet returning patrons or make eye contact with them (myself included). Just a bad stay overall.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, good food, clean & comfy room, fun video/pinball games and easy walk to our concert venue.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Great rooms. Funky downtown hotel that’s beautiful
- 3/5
The staff itself was wonderful. The room itself was a bit outdated and stains on the carpet, but it was definitely functional for our needs. Unfortunately, while we were there the gate to go out of the self parking garage was busted so we had to take a risk and go basically out through the in And luckily no problems occurred. It was just a minor inconvenience. Did not like being charged the extra $30 for the amenity fee per Day as we did not feel it was worth that. Did not seem to be an option to not pay for that. At this point, I’m unsure if we would stay here again.
- 1/5
Bathroom disgusting. Could hear other guests through walls. Continental breakfast lacking.
- 5/5
Great place, staff is great too!
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and it’s affordable for the area that the hotel is in
- 5/5
Great location for our trip!
- 3/5
The breakfast was continental (not complementary), the wifi was slow, and the parking garage was broken in a dangerous way. There was also a ring camera in the room that felt violating.
- 3/5
The hotel itself is pretty nice. Walking distance to everything downtown. Relaxing outdoor space, good bar, free pinball. The hotel rooms need an upgrade. They felt dirty and had an odor, maybe musty.
- 4/5
Under the toilet seat was unclean
- 1/5
I checked in about 10pm w a reservation. The room was freezing cold. I eventually located an open window behind the closed drapes. The bath mirror was cracked and glued together, the bath sink was cracked down the middle. I found brown lumps on the carpet that were obviously from dog doo doo (smell), carpet was not vacuumed and had dog food I kept stepping on. Breakfast was cold cereal, apples, muffins and bagels. Not my idea of a 4 Star hotel. Sadly disappointed!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
A unique and fun place
- 4/5
All the staff and guests are kind.
- 4/5
Great location. Great amenities. So close to public transportation makes it a plus! Great staff.
- 5/5
Broken gate. I did not know there is breakfast
- 5/5
Really great staff, easy to walk to or bus, rooms are smaller but clean, loved the shared space and free evening smores
- 1/5
And $30 for an amenity fee? What amenities are there? The poor excuse for the breakfast? Or the $8 waters in the room? Or the lack of an ice machine on each floor? Lack of a microwave in the room? Also, back on the breakfast, when we saw how poor the continental breakfast was, we decided we’d order off the menu since the prices seemed decent. Stood there like a clueless idiot for awhile before anyone even acknowledged us, and then got served a jimmy dean breakfast sandwich and a stale frozen burrito with mystery meat. This hotel has so much potential, it has an amazing location and a great atmosphere as you walk in, but it feels so shady and gross to be charged for the lacking amenities, and to pay that much for parking with one EV charger is absolutely ridiculous. Just avoid this one!
- 5/5
Really cute hotel with fun amenities. Would stay here again.
- 4/5
“Amenities” said gormet coffee in rooms. There was no coffee at all. The breakfast was mostly cereal. We did get free water, but for $30 each, we were disappointed. A few years ago we loved this hotel. Now the garage exit door was broken and things seemed a little “tired.”
- 5/5
Cool games and gear rentals!
- 3/5
Parking is not monitored. I paid for parking and was unable to find parking in garage in basement. Exit door nonfunctional. Continental breakfast is definitely lacking. Bar was excellent. Amenities were excellent. Staff very attentive and eager to make the stay excellent.
- 2/5
Bathroom was not as clean as it shouldve been. Receptionist uneducated about local landmarks/streets. Specific requests not honored (asked for top floor, assigned 2nd floor). No travel-size amenities such as lotion, makeup remover cloth, etc
- 3/5
The staff were super friendly! The room itself was fine with a nice mattress, although the AC can be a bit loud if you’re noise sensitive. The biggest issue was the quality of the wifi. At least in my room, the speed was barely usable to watch YouTube at a low quality.
- 4/5
Eclectic vibe
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 4/5
Great option; great location; property is in great condition; staff is awesome. Internet connectivity is problematic, though.
- 5/5
We like clean room, friendly staff and healthy breakfast. We will go back again 💕
- 5/5
I love Hotel Zags! This was my third time staying here. Great staff, fun decor, cool courtyard, comfortable room.
- 4/5
the breakfast was missing lot of items, no complains tho
- 4/5
First room smelled like cigarettes, but they quickly moved us to a new room which was goid.
- 5/5
Lovely
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel with funky vibe. We got there too late to take advantage of all the extra amenities so show up early!
- 4/5
Lobby games.
- 5/5
Awesome place to stay
- 5/5
Cool spot, great value, friendly staff
- 5/5
Surprisingly a fantastic location and hotel!
- 3/5
But there are drawbacks. The staff is young and inexperienced; they gave me wrong directions for a restaurant 3 blocks away. I was awakened at 3 am by the loud guest next door; when I tried to call the front desk, the phone did not work. I told the manager the next day -- she told me I should have Googled the hotel from my iphone and called them on it. No apology. Service? Not. When the hotel contacted me for a review, I wrote a critique as above; no one contacted me with an apology or at least a sympathetic comment. I will not be a returning guest.
- 5/5
The hotel staff were amazing. My room was clean and perfect.
- 5/5
Very cool garden with firepits and s’mores, alongside a cool bar/restaurant. Service was friendly and exceptional. Rooms were great.
- 2/5
Breakfast was limited, garage didn’t work, cleanliness was
- 4/5
Great front desk staff, poor maintenance and housekeeping is almost non-existent
- 5/5
We thoroughly enjoyed the space for games, Smores, dance on Saturday p.m. Rose & another young women were phenomenal in storing our luggage so we could do some sightseeing & come back a few hrs. later. They were labeled properly & were available when we needed to leave. They should both get an A+
- 4/5
The hotel itself was cool, like a modernized motor inn. Free pinball! A good bar. Comfy outdoor space. Nice amenities. However, the rooms are ready for renovation. The carpet was stained pretty badly, and the bathroom tile too. The tub/shower is really outdated. But yeah I'd stay again for the free pinball.
- 5/5
I always look forward to a trip to Portland because it means a stay here. Great central location, attentive staff, comfortable rooms.
- 2/5
Complimentary breakfast is misleading advertising. No fresh food - stale bagels, Costco muffins, cereal & milk, and boiled eggs. Could at least get a waffle maker… Good things - service was nice & responsive when we asked for reclean, sheets, etc. The common area has events like dancing & smores, keeping things lively. There’s many games and activities that can be checked out at the front desk which is entertaining. But the actual amenities felt 2-star unfortunately
- 4/5
Good location
- 5/5
Great hotel. Very clean, location is good. Our room was right next to elevator and we didn't hear it at all. I loved the games in the lobby and the courtyard.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and a lot of amenities.
- 2/5
1. Dog friendly hotel with carpet instead of vinyl flooring. I got severely bitten by fleas in the first room and had to transfer to another room. Both rooms had stained carpets and smelled like dog. 2. Parking lot is very small and there isn't enough turning radius to park in some of the spots along the walls. There are a lot of large pillars and several spots are reserved for monthly parking tenants. A lot of the outdoor level spots are blocked off with cones. If you have a large truck or if you arrive on a weekend evening, good luck finding parking. 3. Continental breakfast is pretty bad. There were some bagels and cereal, coffee/tea, Dannon yogurt, and cold boiled eggs. 4. You get 2 free water bottles that are supposed to be in the room fridge, but they were not there. There are two $8 bottles on the desk. Don't mistake those for the 2 free water bottles. There is no water bottle filling station. 5. The air conditioner sounds like a turbo jet engine. It woke us up continuously throughout the night. My husband said it should be called "Hotel Zucks" instead of "Hotel Zags". Pros: 1. Windows open so I could dry some clothes and get some fresh air in the stinky room. 2. Staff were friendly and helpful. 3. Lobby area with arcade games was nice for families, but we didn't use those amenities. 4. I like that instead of a small, underequipped gym, they give out day passes to the 24 hr. Fitness 1 block away. We also used the opportunity to refill our water bottles.
- 5/5
N/A
- 5/5
S’more’s and unlimited games at night, brilliant! No fuss continental breakfast was new and free pinball was a blast. Our first room was unfortunately smoked in, they moved us no problem. We walked to the Saturday Market, dinner at the Duck House and brunch at Mother’s Bistro both were excellent. Another fun getaway to Portland
- 3/5
Bath tub was not clean and the shower was not working well. Over priced for the breakfast and facilities and neatness of the rooms.
- 5/5
Nightly s’mores, free equipment rentals for any outdoor sport you could think of.
- 5/5
As part of your stay, you can rent a roku, bikes, skateboards, etc. Free of charge
- 4/5
Staff were excellent. Rooms are small.
- 4/5
The room and bed were very comfortable our only issue was the cycling oh the AC which woke us up throughout the night. Not being used to this noise made it difficult for us to get a solid night’s sleep.
- 4/5
The hotel was conveniently located and has a lot of different activities for guests. The room was a bit louder than anticipated. Had I realized how close/loud the max line was I would have packed ear plugs.
- 3/5
Great outdoor space. Disappointing continental breakfast. All disposable plates, utensils and cups.
- 5/5
It was social and fun vibe
- 5/5
The amenities were great. The ability to have access to bikes and other items was a plus. The hotel is not far from the waterway about 5 blocks and the train is about a block and a half away. The front desk staff was wonderful.
- 5/5
We just wish the free breakfast had more options, but it was good Our room was very clean!
- 5/5
I loved that this hotel was walking distance to Powell’s. I also thought it was really cool that they have gear to rent for free in the lobby, including bikes, Roku boxes for the TV, Polaroid cameras, and more!
- 1/5
Nice atmosphere. Lousy check-in service. Hot water in sink dribbled out on full. Only got a thanks for letting us know…
- 5/5
We spent two nights on a busy summer weekend in downtown Portland and we were very impressed not only the hotel but everywhere we walked how safe we felt despite the years reading about downtown Portland. Highly recommend the hotel it is fun and staying downtown. So much to do and we walked a lot of miles around the areas on both sides of the river and into the hills of the city and down to and back from the railroad station
- 4/5
Nice staff and good patio
- 5/5
We have been staying at Zags for over 6 years. We love the improvements that have been made and the convenience of bringing our Sunny along for her daily walks. There’s lots of LOVE at Zags! Feels like home away from home.
- 5/5
Bed was very good and was able to make a cup of coffee.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice and they have lots of fun amenities like games, arcade video games, free paddle board, kayak, scooters and smore kits to make out in patio by fire. Absolutely loved it!
- 4/5
It is a chic hotel in a great location, looks new and with a modern ambiance. However, some of the details are disappointing. For example, the bathroom has rusty spots, and our bathtub has hair left when we checked in. The A/C is loud.
- 5/5
Great staff. Comfy bed. I will choose no other hotel in Portland!
- 2/5
Pay $40 to park your vehicle at your own risk. Terrible breakfast. Stay was not worth how much I paid. Expedia charged me more than what property showed me in the bill.
- 3/5
A very nice downtown hotel, with more reasonable parking. Food is not great, especially the morning buffet. That’s very rough, with 1 bedraggled attendant for everyone. Didnt even bother with the diner style evening food, since there are tons of great restaurants in easy walking distance.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a nice part of Portland. Wonderful entertainment inside and relaxed vibe. Great place to stay for anyone looking for a unique experience.
- 5/5
Absolutely our new favorite place to stay. The staff is top notch. We even received a small pet packet with a toy, treat, poop bags, and stuffed animal. We loved the vibe of the hotel, it was clear all are welcome and safe. The only very small suggestion would be to improve the breakfast. But this was minor considering everything other wonderful part.
- 5/5
We visited the hotel for an event and had a terrific evening. Thanks!
- 5/5
Would stay here again!
- 5/5
The best hotel I've ever stayed in! Everything was perfect and worth the price.
- 5/5
The location is perfect right in the center of Portland where everything is walkable or you can take the train. The staff, lobby and outdoor common area is very nice. Dining area is wide with nice booths and bar. The complimentary breakfast was basic (boiled eggs, toasts, pastries, coffee, yogurt, granola & snacks) but good enough to tight you over. They also have video games and pinball which is cool. The room was spacious with great amenities, nice king bad and great bathroom. They also have a collaboration with 24 fitness across the street which is great. Don’t forget to ask the front desk for the free voucher to the gym. Overall I loved it. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Nice place!
- 2/5
- $30 per night on top of the price for "amenities". When asked what this is about, they struggle to explain and say it's non-negotiable. Blaming Expedia that they don't show it... If you are the manager reading this: add $30 to all your rooms prices if that's mandatory and non negotiable... - parking is being charges $40 per night... - fridge is very noisy and when turned off, it leaked badly... The fridge was not well cleaned and ice accumulated inside (a fridge should not have ice, freezer yes). - requested for the room to be cleaned (via in-room button), nobody came while I was visiting the city. - Aircon is noisy - No bedside control for the lights (each light has a switch at the light itself) - Some guests were singing at midnight in the patio, none of the staff said anything On the positive: - well located - "free" games (pinball, retro arcade, etc..) - comfortable bed - good wifi
- 4/5
They had bikes and scooters to use. Offered s'mores which was a nice addition.
- 5/5
The evening s’mores was a nice touch, very relaxing.
- 5/5
I once lived in Portland and now return on a regular basis to visit family. The Hotel Zags is a good fit for us and conveniently located. Yo can walk to Powell's in 20 minutes or less and there are plenty of interesting shops along the way.
- 3/5
Dirty sheets with brown stains, secret “amenity fees” that have no basis for being there. Expensive parking for using their own garage, a bunch of construction equipment piled up in the garage corner, $8 for a bottle of water, cheap and disappointing breakfast, just not a welcoming experience.
- 3/5
Play, Nice outdoor courtyard area.
- 5/5
The outdoor courtyard was great. And the smores hour was fun.
- 5/5
Very fun property. Old style video games, pool table, nice bar and casual restaurant. Fun for adults, kids and pets.
- 5/5
The staff were great. I also like their events like s'mores in the evening.
- 5/5
Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Excellent staff that were very engaging and attentive to guests. Rooms were spacious, beds comfortable and it was very quiet due to large space between rooms and roads. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Sophisticated and friendly
- 5/5
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. The staff were amazing. Our room was a 1 bedroom suite and it was so lovely. Great place. Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Photos look much better than in real life, the actual hotel is not very up to date, upon entrance to the actual room there was a distinctly unpleasant smell in the room, not fresh at all. Some other aspects were a complete turn off as well, which will not be mentioned here, but I wish I knew before hand.
- 5/5
Surrounding area OK. Unfortunately Portland is kind of a mess since covid. Area around hotel was nice & quiet. Some homeless yet less than other areas of Portland
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Very comfortable and convenient stay
- 5/5
We had a great time staying here. They have a nice lobby with courtyard and games.
- 3/5
Very cool hotel. Interesting / fun decor in the lobby area. Dinning option was fine, we hit happy hour which is always a plus! While the room was overall clean, the carpet was stained, mirror in the bathroom has a large cracked
- 5/5
My son graduated from Portland State University. The hotel was 1 minute away from the campus. The hotel was amazing
- 5/5
Great location for a boutique hotel, clean safe and comfortable place to stay. Breakfast was decent and the garden area and restaurant area are a comfortable place to hang out. Paying for their parking easy in easy out safe and secure.
- 1/5
Hidden fees, rude staff
- 4/5
The location was great, but the AC was super loud in our room and we didn't sleep great. Breakfast was sparse but adequate.
- 4/5
They need a new toaster for the breakfast area.
- 5/5
Always amazing!
- 5/5
The gear shed waa awesome and s'more hour waa so fun
- 4/5
Quick check in, mini suite was good
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Didn’t have time to enjoy the fun sport equipment available to guests; will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Portland!
- 5/5
The property in general is clean, modern style with a retro design, arcade games, art work, restaurant bar on property was convenient. The staff from evening, overnight and morning, were very pleasant and helpful. Definitely recommend your hotel to others.
- 2/5
I have stayed at this hotel previously, I do business in the area and the location was convenient for it. I liked that they a deal with a local gym a block away for guests to use it . The rooms were are clean and modern. The restaurant is ok. It was good deal for its price. This time when I there the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, a microwave caught fire, not serious, but a lot of smoke and guests had to evacuate their rooms. The staff basically had no idea what to do, at one point they all seemed to hide in room behind the front desk. There was no communication or direction from them at all, finally one young man on staff, who didn’t seem to be charge, but saw the need to give the guests some information and started to. The hotel manager and owner need to train the staff, ridiculous the way the staff acted during a life safety event.

The property is so nicely appointed. A very cool boutique hotel. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff could be a little friendlier but overall a good experience. Particularly like the s’mores each evening 😊

Breakfast was late 3 out of 5 days, it is 40 per night to park and 30 per night for amenities, so 70 per night plus tax above your quoted hotel rate

The staff are super friendly and helpful. The hotel is very cool and worth staying at. The only things we would have liked to have seen are little stuff like maybe replacing the mirror instead of gluing the crack in it and having AC would have been nice.

The door to the bathroom doesn’t close all the way. The tub is uneven and makes creaky sounds when you move around the tub. The grout around the toilet is disgusting. We stayed in room 524 and I don’t think that’s a VIP room.

I love the staff. Lu'kas had the greatest smile to great me. Felt totally safe. Secured parking. To go to room you had to use your room card on the elevator. There pizza was great. The only I recommend is have a better breakfast. I stayed at an equally rated hotel. They gave out tickets for the breakfast that included a cook making fresh eggs.

the stay here was incredible! my most memorable aspect would’ve been their s’mores service, as that was something i’ve never experienced from a hotel before. my mother and i stayed here for two days, and we had the best experience here. the establishment is stocked with things to do, too! their game room was such a nice touch as well. overall, we really liked the aesthetic of this hotel! next time we’re in town, we’ll most definitely be staying here again!!

It was amazing. Early check in available and the front desk personnel was 10 out of 10. The place is beautiful/gorgeous. They have s’mores from 7-8 with high quality graham crackers and Hershey chocolates yum. Patio is calming and beautiful. Very artsy inside and the room was beautiful. I’m booking another stay now. I go to Portland very often this will definitely be my new place.

I stayed here with a friend in the beginning of May for an event in downtown Portland. We were here for a couple days, and it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. The room (the bathroom more specifically) had a few issues in the wallpaper and things like that, but that would never steer me from a place. The staff were very nice and helpful. Not any complaints there. I liked that breakfast was included, but I’m not sure it was worth it. On our checkout day we ended up going out for breakfast, which I love to do anyways in Portland, they have great spots. It was just disappointing, lackluster. The rooms don’t have any HVAC so we were either freezing or hot whenever we were in the room, and I never figured out the window. My main issue out of the whole stay was when my friend got to the hotel, she used their parking and I did not. We got the pass and everything, but they never disclosed that parking would be an extra $40 a night for that (found out after leaving on my receipt). That seems like something you would want to be up front about, as well as your amenity fees. An amenity fee should be built into the cost of the room if you anticipate people using them, and if they don’t, then they shouldn’t be charged. This was my first time staying here, not sure if I would come back honestly, unless I was in a pinch. I do wish this place the best, and the people who work here, because they were all very lovely and kind and I would never fault the staff for things they cannot control.

The staff were amazing! Arcade games in the lobby and tons of things to borrow. It was different than any place I have stayed at. The rooms were clean but could have been nicer. The overall experience is why I gave it a 5 Star.
