The place is worn Piet and run down and has no life to it. Bare bones basics. If you’re looking for it to feel like the old ace hotel…. Look somewhere else.

Room 1: full wall window in the bathroom. You'll be exposed to the whole street. Room 2: coldest shower in existence, no door, so you'll have goosebumps in the shower.

The property was lovely and was kept very clean. It was my first trip solo and I felt very welcome here. The attached coffee shop was also a huge plus.

N/A This hotel was the biggest disappointment for me, as I never actually made it there. This hotel was recommended by Bring Fido as it accepted large dogs. Being a Booking.com Genius, I booked through there, but nowhere did the information cover the breed restrictions. As The Clyde was my second stop on a 2 hotel trip, I did not think to check into The Clyde before I checked into my first hotel, Aloft Sacramento. Unfortunately, my dog was of a restricted breed, and there was no support in amending these issues. To make matters worse, they actually told me they would be happy to accommodate me if I didn't bring him. Being that I had explained to them the nature of my trip, this seemed strange. The repetitive, vague explanations that required me to ask follow-up questions just to get a clear answer made me feel like I was working with a client in a rehab treatment facility, trying to get to the bottom of what they were trying to say. With such a long list of restricted breeds, you might as well just say that you only accept small dogs, and be more upfront about your policies at the time of booking, instead of sending it in a check-in email right at the cutoff time for the 48-hour cancellation. I will also notify BringFido to ensure the long list of "bad dogs" is shared openly to prevent this type of issue from happening to other pet parents, where they will lose all of their money in the process.

We were going to an author event at Powell’s so The Clyde was the perfect location. Close by & so charming. The lobby with the photobooth was so fun. We especially loved the reading room on the 1.5 floor :) The notes in the drawers were so great! Our room was spacious & comfortable. The giant windows are so wonderful & the bathroom was unique & cool. We loved our stay! The couch in the room was so low to the ground. I know that’s the style now but it’s just not comfortable if you’re older than 50 or taller than 5’8. It didn’t change how much we loved our stay, but worth mentioning.

Great clean place!

Very good
- 4/5
The room was fairly clean but there was one obvious issue as we noticed the bath wouldn’t drain and there was a large clog of hair that looked like it hasn’t been addressed in months at minimum, which also broke the tub stopper. Outside of that mostly the room was in good shape and the staff has always been polite and easy to communicate with. We do like visiting the hotel on occasion when coming into town, but it is not our first choice but will still most likely remain in the rotation.

I booked a room with a private shower. Room was spacious enough to fit 3 people. I enjoyed the amount of space this place provided. Walking distance to Powells and various other shops in town. Parking around hotel can be hard but there is enough down a couple streets. Really enjoyed it here.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Clyde!! Everyone was so friendly and it was the perfect Birthday vibe!!

So much character, very comfortable, location is SUPERB

Cool, hip hotel in downtown portland. We were able to finally take pics at the famous vintage booth. Cafe had great coffee and pastries.
- 5/5
The room was amazing and such a welcome spot to arrive to. The radio was on which made it so warm and cozy. There’s a small refrigerator, everything I could have needed to make coffee or tea, a clothes steamer, hair dryer. A comfy bed. It is a gem! I love the property and the neighborhood. Was given 2 tokens to get a coffee next door. Would highly recommend!
- 1/5
The room is not that nice and the place surrounding the hotel feeling is unsafe
- 4/5
This used to be the Ace which I loved, probably wouldn’t have stayed here without that history. Staff was fine, they got rid of breakfast which was already pretty wimpy by the end of the Ace’s residence. Unbeatable location.
- 4/5
Room was cleaning, and staff were friendly.
- 5/5
Great room, friendly staff, easy virtual check in and front desk options
- 1/5
Found a bed bug on my pillow
- 4/5
I would give a five star, but after a 9 hour journey to get there from a different country we were looking for assistance from the front desk staff not a condescending tone and feeling like we were unwelcome. Other than that we enjoyed our room and the location. The building is older and the streets could be a bit loud but they provide ear plugs.
- 4/5
The room was very nice overall, and checking in and out was great. The bath/shower never truly got hot, the bed was quite uncomfortable (for us!), and some areas around the walls seemed a bit neglected cleanliness wise. No on-site parking but the U-Park at the bank a few blocks away was great for overnight.
- 2/5
The room was cold. Like, freezing cold. The bathroom was creepy and not private. It was not comfortable and i am not a 20 year old. So.
- 5/5
Beautiful note that has a coffee shot next door. The room was very homey. Loved everything about it.
- 4/5
Room was clean and the front desk personelle were courteous.

We felt extremely unsafe as there is not a 24 hour reception which meant anyone could enter the building. A few occasions we saw homeless and intoxicated people walking around the building and using amenities who were clearly not guests of the building.
- 5/5
So cute! Best location.
- 5/5
Kasa staff were super great and helpful. The hotel lobby was very festive and had a cool photobooth. The king suite had its own bathroom (& clawfoot tub!) and a working record player with a curated selection of old & new records. The bed was super comfortable and soft. I would recommend bringing an eye mask if you are sensitive to light as some of the manual lift blinds were tricky to close all the way. I’d definitely stay here again, thank you PDX Kasa!
- 5/5
No complaints
- 3/5
This hotel is in a perfect location downtown. The room was very hip, which both my husband and I loved. It even had a record player! Layout wise I wish the toilet room was not located right in front of the bed. Only other downside was that there was no hot water. This was not made known when we booked the hotel room nor when we checked in. The hotel did give us a gift card for $46 after I called, but that whole experience put a damper on our trip.
- 5/5
Everything was fine even though there was no hot water lol I’m not against a cold shower every now and then… all and all the stay was fine the bed was very comfortable
- 1/5
Horrible experience. No hot water and was told there was no timeline on when it would be fixed. Didn’t even stay at the hotel, and now the hotel won’t even respond to hotels.com to refund the two bookings I made and went unused. Kasa gives me a number to have hotels.com to process my refund. But it’s not the number hotels.com has and the hotel won’t answer the one they’ve provided to hotels.com. May update if I ever get an effective solution.

I was a frequent guest at the former Ace Hotel now the Clyde Hotel by Kasa. With the acquisition Kasa, kept the unique barracks inspired furnishing from the unique Ace Hotel but stripped the hotel of all of it's charm. We stayed in the king suite and the room was a bit run down: warm empty mini fridge, broken window shades, dead dried out house plants, loud heater, sub par art added, dirty brochures. The rooms are mostly the same but without the same amenities. No longer are robes offered, no wool blanket, no mini bar, no MALIN+GOETZ soaps, the snack room with complementary coffee, oats, and snacks is also gone. It's bare bones... After the somewhat rude interactions with the front desk staff (who don't want to be bothered) and recognizing that there is no security at the hotel, we will no longer be visiting our once beloved Ace hotel. Homeless folks were easily entering the site and hanging out on the lobby couch and using the hotel's bathroom. The streets are loud at night, wear the supplied ear plugs if you stay here. We did enjoy the Friday night busking saxophonist who performed near Powell Books and was heard from the room - that was an unexpected treat!
- 4/5
Clean room, great amenities, brilliant location
- 5/5
We really enjoyed the two beds being across from each other, it made for good conversations while sitting in bed comfortably. The pillows were like clouds and the bed was comfy as well. Also awaiting in our room when we arrived were tokens for the coffee shop that is connected to the hotel. Grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting in the super cute hotel lobby was really relaxing, especially surrounded by gorgeous plants and watching the rain fall down outside. We will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great staff, outstanding location, great quiet rooms, great value. Couldn't ask for more.
- 5/5
Would stay again. Good location, very walkable, and easy check-in/out process.
- 5/5
Clean and convenient. No problems great location.
- 5/5
While I saw a couple of reviews that mentioned noise, the streets outside of this hotel were quiet during my one might at this hotel (a Wednesday night). I did hear one instance of squealing tires and thought, “Oh no. Here we go.” But my room was extremely quiet after then. Also, the in-room turntable and vinyl records, as well as the tokens for complimentary coffees at the neighboring coffee shop, were very nice touches.
- 5/5
Fantastic Classic. Loved all of the details, water, coffee tokens, noise machine. Just wished the water had been hotter because clawfoot tub!
- 5/5
It was a great location, clean, and staff was friendly.
- 5/5
The room was clean staff was pleasant the room stayed quiet cold the water temp and pressure were good Thai peacock

This place was the best for our little date night. Super cute room, and very easy to get in and out and feel like you have your own little privacy. It was amazing.

Great
- 5/5
Totally enjoyed my stay at this quirky hotel. It was perfect for me in every way. It may not be for everyone, definitely not a cookie cutter hotel room, but I found it cozy. I enjoyed soaking in the clawfoot tub after a long day of traveling. The bed was comfortable. The coffee shop attached to the lobby was good and very convenient. It was an easy walk to most things I planned to do and transportation options were easy to access when needed.
- 3/5
Front desk staff was not helpful and kind of rude.
- 5/5
This property was so charming and veautifully decorated. Had easy access and parking one block away. Food and shopping was all walkable distance. The rooms were perfectly small and had all amenities. LOVED the photobooth in the lobby also.
- 5/5
The property is historic and in a very good area. Loved the room, along with the beds which were really comfortable and the decor.
- 4/5
Wasn’t a spacious room but was laid out well making it quite enjoyable. It was in a great location for restaurants & events. Price was reasonable & room access went well.
- 1/5
absolutely horrendous customer service, don't stay here. the digital check in is fine, but after check out they became aggressive with false charges. not worth taking the risk, book elsewhere
- 1/5
They will try and run your card for damage fees even if the room is perfect, since changing from the ace it’s become very scammy
- 4/5
Great stay, staff and very walkable area!
- 5/5
Great, central location, the Powell’s Books sign was visible out our window. Parking was cheap and easy using the SpotHero app. Will stay here again when in Portland.
- 3/5
Area is surrounded by a lot of homeless. Which could be tolerated if there was near by parking available.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my trip and stay in Portland. This hotel is such a gem, a historical building located downtown, with great staff, and a view from the room. If I visit Portland again, this hotel will definitely be my pick again!
- 5/5
Great staff!
- 5/5
Great room, friendly staff, can’t wait to go back!!
- 5/5
I was in Portland for 5 days, 4 nights, and The Clyde was super cozy and a welcome place to return to after a long day of exploring. The environment and vibes of the place were immaculate and I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Portland
- 5/5
Was looking for something whimsical and historic and I definitely got that with this pick. Super easy check in and out online, didn't even have to talk to anyone. Would love to stay here again when I come back to Portland.
- 4/5
Our second visit to this hotel. The first time was exceptional. This time we weren't happy with the room assigned to us (we were staying for six nights). Went to front desk where the clerk seemed annoyed that I was asking for help and said she was leaving in 30 minutes and that I should contact support myself via text. Contacted support and waited nearly three hours for someone to help (after being told they would prioritize my request to management), no one ever did. We were eager to unpack and settle in, so we ended up staying in the room with the (telephone booth like) shower in the middle of it.
- 1/5
This was a nightmare. There is no front desk person to help and when my reservation that was done through Expedia wasn’t in their system I had to rebook and double pay. I also had tons of trouble just locating the code to get into the shared bathroom. Probably my bad for not reading the fine print but when do you ever expect to NOT have a bathroom in your hotel room! Awful
- 5/5
I really enjoyed the three nights I spent here, I felt safe and I liked how walkable the area was.
- 5/5
Lovely stay and easy check in and check out process! Would definitely stay again!!
- 5/5
Only thing I didn't like is no parking lot. Had to pay to park $38 at a nearby garage 6 blocks away for the duration we were there. It was a 9 min walk but it wasn't too bad. Maybe try to find a way to get a discount with the spot hero app? But overall was a great experience and would stay here again.
- 1/5
Wouldn’t let us get a room even though we booked it twice
- 4/5
Its more akin to a hostel than a hotel but its kept clean the rooms are small and dont yave bathrooms
- 4/5
However there is a lot of noise from outside (there was a loud party on the next building's roof, just 1 floor under our window -on our night of arrival until 11pm) Also the air conditioning unit in the bedroom was very loud. No microwave in the room. I would come back though as it is very well situated and close to everything downtown Portland.
- 4/5
Hip and cool! No staff, everything is done through website and codes which had pluses and minuses… a great location !
- 5/5
Such a unique hotel. Close to great restaurants. Helpful staff. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
- 3/5
We got the standard queen room with bathroom. The bathroom has a sliding door which doesn't provide any privacy. If you are traveling with your spouse be cautious!! Also the location might get too loud in night time but the hotel is at a very good location in Portland.
- 5/5
Great location, lovely old building. Absolutely love the keyless entry and locked front door after hours! Clean and comfy room was perfect for our weekend downtown- walkable to everything you’d want to explore. Beds were plush and staff were friendly. 10/10 would stay again.
- 5/5
Love this place!
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. Lots of character in the room and building. Liked the self service and
- 5/5
Stayed two nights for a mom getaway. Location very convenient for takeout and activities. Very clean and great value for the price if you don't mind doing all everything online (check-in/ out, etc). Room right by streetcar and lots of loud outdoor events, definitely slept with earplugs like other guests mentioned. Shower not quite hot enough but other than that everything was wonderful. Will definitely be staying here again!
- 5/5
Great stay in a hotel with tons of character. Tastefully decorated, cosy spaces and central location in Portland. Lots of cafes, bakeries and restaurants nearby for meals, starting with your morning coffee. I will stay in a Kasa Living hotel anytime.
- 5/5
Super easy virtual check in, property felt very safe & was very clean! Highly recommend
- 4/5
coffee shop in lobby- provided tokens for free cups for stay. Nice location, cute lobby/common areas.
- 5/5
Loved it, great decor great location, felt safe inside, coffee options, great tv in the room, very close to Powell’s world of books, did not feel really safe the homeless community everywhere in the streets of Portland
- 3/5
But the beds were fine and the pillows weee awesome.
- 5/5
Our room was fantastic. My husband was in love with the record player. The room was huge and could've slept a lot of people. The location was super convenient too.
- 1/5
The vibe was WEIRD and unfriendly. Area was dirty and door was not always locked, people were able to follow me in and since there’s limited desk staff and they basically ignore guests, I felt it was unsafe, noisy and then unhealthy! No housekeeping despite a 7-day stay. Went without toilet paper and tissues as management texted that they don’t restock! Annoying texting back and forth to finally get toilet paper, a necessity not an amenity:They were ridiculously obtuse and rude. They never took responsibility for not providing an extra roll of toilet paper in the room, it was the worst hotel experience I have ever had! I have PTSD regarding toilet paper now! I stayed in the room as little as possible and would never stay there again. AWFUL staff and accommodation!
- 5/5
There's a parking garage close by, and lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. If homeless people make you uncomfortable, you might not enjoy walking around, but we've never encountered anyone threatening downtown. If I were to ding the property at all, it would be over the cleanliness of the elevator; however, even that wasn't bad. The little cafe that's attached has a good morning food selection (lots of pastries and breakfast sandwiches), and overall the place was pretty quiet. Since it is downtown, it's never completely still, but we've stayed in louder places.
- 4/5
Cool place- great communication about accommodations. Coffee from the attached shop was included. Soft music playing in the room was a nice touch. Off-site parking was the only drawback, but the directions to get to it were really good.
- 5/5
It was my first time in Portland and staying here made everything so easy for exploring and getting to all the places I wanted to see. While I was at first nervous about the virtual desk component, the staff at the front desk during the day were very helpful and the security staff at night made the stay feel very safe. It was a very relaxed feel. I stayed at this hotel for a week. The bed was very comfortable and the standard queen room had everything I needed. I particularly appreciated the steamer for my clothes and the little thoughtful things in the way the rooms are set up for simplicity but efficiency. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Ideal location. Near shipping and metro lines. Cool old building. The highlight was the friendly and helpful staff. Overall great experience!
- 5/5
The fact this is a historical building is just fascinating. What they have done to make cute lil yet still spacious areas is amazing. Everything was very clean. They did provide some ear plugs in case outside was too loud. We never had any issues and didn’t hear anything from outside or neighbors. Everyone was so kind. Between the text messages and website was very helpful and easy. I would say that the are was safe, did not have any feeling of uneasiness. I would highly recommend!!
- 5/5
Only suggestion would be doing something about r sheets/blankets! Being it’s. Pet friendly building- all the bedding smelled heavily like dog urine.
- 5/5
I stayed in Kasa for 3 nights and 4 days and they were absolutely phenomenal to say the least. I rarely talked to the front desk agent as I’d spend most of my day visiting around the city or relaxing in my room . so I’d always be in contact with them thru text messages which was very helpful and fast . All my requests were answered and resolved quickly. Something you don’t see often even in certain Big hotels around the world. ( I know ) 1. Location wise, it is the best !!! It’s So convenient. The hotel is super clean as well. You have a variety of about 100 or more of restaurants , bars and coffee shops , food trucks , night clubs , libraries, vintage clothing stores and more . With all that mentioned you’d think that the location would be super noisy but you’d be wrong . It’s super quiet. It Almost felt like it’s in the middle of a desert. A steal for that price too . Kuddos to yall ! My favorite thing about the room is the radio 😂. Hands down. They’re Programmed to a specific channel that solely plays jazz/funk music. So good for relaxing . As most people do , I also have my least favorite thing about the room/hotel and its lights. It’s too damn dark . The lobby’s fine but the rooms light bulb should have been a lot brighter . I had to use my phone back light in order to pack my bag because I couldn’t see. Last but not least the staff ! The kindest and most welcoming.
- 5/5
I loved pretty much everything. It's absolutely perfect. I would love onsite parking, but the king room was everything I wanted. Clawfoot tub, sitting area, windows, really cool vibe.
- 5/5
Cozy, friendly, the whole vibe was comfy and relaxing. Loved everything about this place. So Portland.
- 5/5
Nice big room, extremely comfortable and clean. Good heat/ AC. The bed was great on my sore back. I loved it, i wish I could have stayed longer. The neighborhood is a cool Portland area, bars, restaurants, music venues
- 5/5
The vibes here are amazing, very clean, and walking distance to some much!
- 4/5
Nice place, convenient location. Enjoyed our stay
- 3/5
Only stayed here for one night, so it was efficient. Shower was really weird -- had an exposed glass panel (no privacy) and there was no nearby light source. There's a window in the corner that gives light during the day, but since I shower at night, it was dark and frustrating.
- 3/5
The building is very old, it has a charming authentic look, however, it is very old and very noisy.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay very much, it was convenient for our one night in town. They could use a few more towel racks, but that is such a minor inconvenience. Would definitely book again!
- 4/5
Good
- 4/5
It was very good. The only thing I didn’t like was that the shower was not part of the bathroom, it was just completely open with no sort of privacy. The bed was right next to it and there was no frosted glass or anything.
- 5/5
Funky (good) vibes in a great location
- 5/5
I loved the old style of look to the whole place.
- 1/5
Never stay here again
- 1/5
It was terrible and I was given a $25 refund what joke i will tell everyone not to stay there
- 5/5
Love this place
- 5/5
Great quaint stay. Clean, easy, central
- 5/5
Great large room for the price.
- 4/5
Felt very alert and aware of our surroundings as a plus.
- 5/5
Slayed
- 5/5
Hotel is really cute and location is prime! The supposedly 24/7 chat wasn’t actually 24/7 but the overnight front desk person was very nice and helpful!
- 5/5
Very cool and nice
- 5/5
The room and hotel overall were very clean and cutely decorated. Great use of an older building! Please note, since this was in the Pacific Northwest, there was an air of dampness even in the room but I attribute that to the weather not any falling on the hotel. The white noise machine and room specific temperature control was a bonus!
- 5/5
Can be a bit shady due to the location
- 1/5
This is a hostel, and it was an awful stay. The "private bathroom" we were given was a public bathroom with a code to get in. This code worked on all the bathrooms in the building and anyone else in the building with the code could use the bathroom on our floor. I did not understand that our room didn't have a bathroom until after checking in. I'm 50. So when I woke up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I had to bring my phone so that I had the code, my reading glasses so I could see my phone, and walk down a long hallway to get to the bathroom. It's not the same as having a bathroom in one's hotel room. And without that, it's not a hotel, it's a hostel. I will not be back and I do not recommend this property.
- 5/5
Incredible space with everything you need. A true Portland experience! Details were on point, even down to an in room record player! The location cannot be beat!
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 5/5
This was my second stay. I love the uniqueness of the rooms.

The room was dirty and still had the last person's trash in it (I hope just the last one!). Texted the front desk line (there isn't anyone at the desk after like 4pm) for a toothbrush and they stated they didn't have any but the security guy downstairs not only got us toothbrushes but also some other amenities from the obvious staff access amenities closet. the neighborhood was great, but the staff was aggressively anti-homeless as if we all weren't closer to them than to whoever their rich owners were. such a weird stay.

The bathroom didn’t have walls.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Gorgeous old hotel full of natural wood, and beautiful large windows. The staff was attentive to every need. Thanks to everyone at The Clyde.

Adorable hang out areas, roomy and aesthetic rooms, cool bathroom, and nice bag storage 7am-7pm.

This hotel is in the center of Portland, there is NO on site parking, there wasn’t even a bathroom in the hotel room. The streets are extremely busy which made it hard to navigate around the hotel and parking was a mess to try and figure out. The room reminded me of an apartment in the middle of NYC that’s you’d pay $3k a month for with a small window view of a brick wall and barely being able to fit a mattress in.

Cool vibes. A little noisey but awesome setup and staff was fantastic.

I love that this hotel has an outer lock once business hours have ended. This provided another layer of safety and comfort for us. The coffee shop next door and inclusion of a free coffee made the trip that much more enjoyable. The build of the hotel is lovely as well. With a classy, vintage, and eclectic feel, this hotel encompassed the unique beauty of Portland very well. Food, drinks, events, parking garages, and public transportation are within very simple reach.

Walls were paper thin. Room was barely big enough for the bed. Bathroom was in pieces. Sink by the bed. Shower behind the bed. Toilet in a closet. Not a good part of town either.

Had a fun and relaxing time

Confusing and convoluted check in process required downloading an app and scanning an ID and required multiple calls to customer service.

Really liked the decor. Was very quiet

I loved this hotel! Virtual check-in was easy. Loved being able to open my door with my phone, and as soon as I entered the suite, soft jazz was playing on the radio and a hand-written welcomed me. The deluxe queen suite was comfortable, so unique and the record player and records in the room were so cool. If you need anything, it’s just a text away. The location is excellent, everything is within walking distance. My room was above the street car so it got loud at night, but the room comes complete with ear plugs and a white noise machine which made all the difference for good sleeps. The bed was so comfortable. When I go back to Portland, I will definitely stay here again.

After the first night we asked if we could get a refund for the for the remaining 2 booked nights if we checked out early but they refused. They did offer us to change rooms but with the same cleaning products how would that help? The scent was still present enough to cause headaches on the third night. Staying at this hotel ruined our entire trip! Do not recommend!

The rooms are very cute, but very basic (which I appreciate, but might not be for everybody). The building is also very cute and old. Be sure to follow the instructions for self check in, I didn't and had issues getting in my room, but the night employee was awesome helping me.

Overall, a great place to stay. This hotel is right by Powell's and most downtown amenities. Everything is walkable or available by transit with ease. This is a great base for your Portland adventures!

Downtown PDX. Room was spacious, nicely interior designed. Appeared as if the room hadn’t been rented in a while because some dust buildup on windows, shelves. Every section of the room was interesting, the way it was remodeled and retrofitted was nice. The lighting fixtures were great. The view from the windows was great. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean.
