Classic classey place! Exercise area well equipped a nice space.

Great hotel and loved our stay!
- 5/5
Nice room, comfy bed, room for laptop, comfy chairs. Loved the big workout gym which looked brand new. Also enjoyed the swanky sports lounge on the lower level. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Friendly helpful staff. Water in room. Reasonably priced good breakfast. Walking distance to transit and restaurants
- 4.5/5
So much charm oven older hotel was maintained and the modernization of the facility was appreciated! I could not find anything or disliked.
- 4.5/5
99% of my stay was great At the onset we were assigned to a room with blocked view Later I wanted to shift and was given a street view room
- 5/5
Classic beautiful old hotel. Lobby bar service and decor can’t be beat.
- 5/5
Restrutant should have had more staff on Monday morning with so many people checking out…..possibly were related to the many coming in for the parade.
- 5/5
The Benson is a beautiful property right in downtown Portland. The staff was wonderful during our stay — very friendly, helpful and accommodating!

The Benson is a classic. The lobby bar and restaurant is beautiful and the staff are always excellent. I had dinner in the English pub downstairs and it was a great place to eat and relax. The hotel is in a perfect location for all the sights of Portland. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
They need to upgrade the TV’s- standard cable without the ability to access your personal Netflix, Amazon which was disappointing.
- 5/5
Convenient location. Nice rooms and comfortable bed. Quiet. No closet or place to hang clothes except hook behind bathroom door.

The rooms are very nice and the location is pretty convenient. When you pull up to valet your car - lock your door if they are not right there to take it or it someone

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bed was really comfortable . There was nothing not to like ! Everything met my expectations.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bed was really comfortable . There was nothing not to like ! Everything met my expectations.
- 4.5/5
Comfortable bed. Attractive room decor (thankfully it's not one of those hotels trying too hard to be hip!). Good breakfast. Servers Bobby & Richie were beyond friendly and helpful. They made the breakfast experience! How sad that a beautiful city of friendly people, great food, and fun boutiques is ruined by all the roaming mentally ill, homeless, and addicts. It felt very unsafe, and there's no way I'd go out at night. Sadly, I would never come back.
- 5/5
Have stayed here several times, it’s an absolutely wonderful hotel.

Excellent! Great restaruants, fairly priced. Beatiful lobby. Didn’t relaize we had to request to have room cleaned each day—just be sure to let guests know that. Otherwise—superb!

Beautiful hotel.

Beautiful hotel and convenient location
- 5/5
Great place when in Portland.
- 5/5
Nothing beats the old-world charm and new renovations keep the historic feel while being modern and clean. The waiters in the Palm Court restaurant are now my friends and will make your stay and meal that much better!
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby, reasonably-priced restaurant and sports bar with great food, courteous staff. We needed to ask to have housekeeping each day (we didn’t know that at first), but that’s a minor issue. We’d very happily stay here again.
- 3.5/5
Location, history Noise
- 4/5
Comfortable, clean room & really nice fitness room
- 2/5
The new room was dirty, with moisture around the bathtub grout and smelly walls from 100 years old wood. Never go back in this property
- 5/5
Menu was more than adequate for our one night stay. Service was excellent food arrived warm and complete.
- 5/5
Its beautiful and clean. The staff was amazing.
- 5/5
Its beautiful and clean. The staff was amazing.
- 5/5
Restaurants and bars located in the building are all wonderful
- 4.5/5
It is in a good location in the heart of the city near nice stores and Powell’s Books which is wonderful. The onsite restaurant has a good breakfast and great coffee. There is a fireplace in the lobby and a pianist plays in the evening. Parking is $59 but there’s a secure lot across the street just to the south for $28. And Portland has a lot of homeless people in this area.
- 4.5/5
The bathroom was very nice
- 4/5
Water pressure was strong. Such a plus for an old hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not memorable. Unhoused are rampant in the area. Choose where to go. Valet parking is $59 a day. best to valet to be safe. There’s a speakeasy in the hotel but wasn’t able to get in.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay for 2 nights! Great comfy beds! A little soundproofing in the rooms would be a nice addition but I would stay here again 100%!
- 5/5
Great stay, as always.
- 5/5
Loved the old world feel of the lobby and the modern day conveniences in the room.
- 5/5
Very clean, beautiful hotel
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful, bar was relaxing after long days.

- 5/5
An oasis in Portland. Staff, accomodations, amenities were all excellent. Now my preferred choice in Portland.
- 5/5

- 5/5
The room was incredible. I like the convenience of El Gauchos being attached. Overall these 2 together made my anniversary extra special!! Staff member Katrina was super friendly and professional.
- 5/5
Thank you!

- 5/5
I paid for the parking option & it was so worth it - valet took care of my luggage & I was able to come & go through texting request for my vehicle. The lobby restaurant dinner options were healthy and perfect so I did not have to find a restaurant somewhere else. Happy, but not noisy, in a very warm environment!
- 5/5
Front desk staff super friendly.
- 5/5
Great room, staff super friendly food is ok not at as good
- 5/5
The service lady was so nice. Everything was great!
- 5/5
The hotel is as described, checkout the historic stairwell. The staff was friendly and the front desk was always available and helpful. Catherine at the Court (Restaurant) was amazing.
- 4/5
The hotel is beautiful but old. The curtains in our room was ripped and the window in our friend’s room on the 12th floor was missing the safety lock so it opened all the way which would be scary if there were children with us. They wrongfully charged me for valet but it seems to be getting resolved pretty quickly. The halls are creepy but I guess that’s all part of the lore.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room. Staff was always friendly. Would be happy to stay here again in the future.
- 5/5
Excellent experience, top to bottom
- 5/5
Amzing hotel and great location. Restraunts great too
- 5/5
I thought this was such a nice place. Great staff and location.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay!
- 5/5
It was simply amazing and the staff was excellent.
- 5/5
Always a great stay.
- 5/5
Beautiful old building lovingly maintained.
- 3/5
Room was clean but lacked ambiance to match their gorgeous lobby and history as a high end Portland Hotel. Bathroom was very small. Small shower. Limited amenities like magnified make up mirror, large shower or tub. I could never get on the internet because the signal was so weak. The London Grill was nice. All in all conveniently located and above average staff & cleanliness.
- 5/5
The atmosphere of the entire property is perfect. The corner studio was amazing and fulfilled every single
- 5/5
Favorite hotel in town for traditional experiences. Valet parking and dogs allowed a total bonus. Teeny tiny rooms and bathrooms.
- 5/5
Everything about it was amazing and I loved it. The staff made my stay very comfortable and easy.
- 5/5
Great restaurant and bar. Great cocktails
- 5/5
Very enjoyable stay at the Benson. Staff was super friendly, and the room was comfortable, well appointed, and clean. My only "negative" is that the disabled friendly (no steps) entrance was almost always locked from the outside, even during the day. This was a minor inconvenience for me, as I am mostly mobile, but would have been a major one were I in a wheelchair. Otherwise, it is a fabulous hotel and I would absolutely stay again!
- 3/5
Staff was very nice and check in and valet was easy. The bathroom was pretty dirty and there was no hot water. We had to leave it running for more than 5 minutes to get to Luke warm so only 1 of the five of us was able to shower. Our room had a fold out couch that was awful. Because of those issues we would probably stay somewhere else next time.
- 5/5
Clean room. The staff was wonderful. The hotel was beautiful. Only complaint was not having a microwave. The palm court restaurant food was delicious and wait staff was lovely.
- 5/5
It was wonderful! The food in the restaurant Palm Court was delicious and high value for the reasonable cost. The male waiters in that restaurant were incredibly nice with impeccable friendly service and I would return just for them. They made our day. Room was spotless, marble shower, comfy bed, everything was fabulous.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Lively lobby with jazz. Great location, superb staff.
- 5/5
Always love staying a the Benson. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Love the valet service. Restaurant has great food and service. Hotel is beautiful and love the walk ability to restaurants shopping.
- 5/5
We have stayed at this property mutliple times and keep coming back because it is well located, the staff are great, and it is well maintained.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel great stay. Kelly checked us in and was very accommodating!
- 5/5
The staff was super friendly and the breakfast was yummy! We would definitely stay there again.
- 3/5
Key lock on the refrigerator? No it’s not a mini bar, but there was no key in the lock. That’s the leftovers. My wife and I had and a few dessert cheesecakes had no refrigeration. A half hour later after I called the front desk asking for a key that should’ve been there in the lock on the fridge. I replied back down to the front desk to forget it because we were going to bed. The staff is young inexperienced, naïve they like the seasoned prompt an intellectual staff at the previous owners had. Hopefully they don’t run it down the toilet.
- 5/5
Lovely lobby, lounge, valet, all staff and service.
- 5/5
Close to dining
- 5/5

- 5/5
Classic beautiful hotel with old world craftsmanship

Great staff; clean room; very comfy.
- 5/5
Incredible service. Lovely hotel. Really nice room.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Staff were friendly and helpful. They could use an extra staffer on Valet service.
- 4/5
Nice room and courteous staff
- 5/5
Front desk and restaurant staff were excellent. Quiet room with perfect sleeping quarters. I'll return with no hesitation.
- 4/5
Room and bathroom were small. Overall clean. Poor reception at check in. Guests next to our room started a loud party at 4 a.m. that lasted nearly 2 hours. Not the hotel fault, but they didn't correct it.
- 5/5
Beautiful room, amazing lobby, historic hotel
- 3/5
Room was fine, hot water was a fair wait and they hold internet hostage unless you agree to their ransom demands
- 5/5

- 5/5

- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, beautiful festive building to stay at during the holidays
- 5/5
Room was clean! Amanda let us check in early and offered an upgrade at a low cost! Very kind and happy to greet us and check us in!
- 5/5
It's nice
- 5/5
Such a great experience - the staff is so kind, the vibe was awesome. The room was super clean and the bed was sooooo comfy!
- 5/5
The building itself was historic and Beautiful. My wife actually had a paranormal experience near the very large mirror at the base of the staircase where she saw flashing light behind it, and there was no explanation offered by the staff, but they did say people have experienced other apparitions around that mirror, which has its own history documented at the hotel. The location was perfect, the room was very nice, the restaurant had excellent food and drinks, highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Loved it! We stayed in a King Suite. Our dog loved it. Hotel staff is great. Great location - close to shopping and places to eat and have fun. Will be coming back.
- 5/5
Clean room courteous and attentive staff.
- 5/5
We always love the Benson -- and older hotel with great charm. Lovely staff. Fantastic location.
- 2/5
To add to the insult(s) further, once my items were located, I was informed that I would have to foot the bill for the items to be shipped to my residence!! How unprofessional and discourteous!! Why were my items removed from my room in the first place? And who authorized hotel personnel to remove these items? These questions were never answered!! I came away from this experience feeling extremely disrespected and undervalued as a paying patron. The Benson Hotel personnel who handled this situation TOTALLY RUINED what should have been a happy and joyous occasion honoring my wife's 60th birthday celebration!!! Thank you Benson Portland personnel for ruining it!!!
- 5/5
Just a cool vibe
- 5/5
Very very nice .. we love this place .. we stay every year after Christmas !!!
- 5/5
Great breakfast and service all around
- 5/5
Nice room in classic historic hotel. Great front desk service. Very walkable.
- 4/5
We did valet parking, and it was good.
- 5/5
This was a lovely hotel from start to finish. The rooms were large and well-appointed. The lobby was beautiful and festive for the holiday season. And best of all was the AWESOME fitness room. One of the best I've experienced - large, clean, bright, and with a choice of equipment. I'd definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
I always stay at Benson. It’s always reliably clean and have the most comfortable bed. Good night rest is so important to me even I am not in my own place and bed and Benson Hotel, given me that feeling of home.
- 4/5
Nice old hotel. Room is clean and convenient to explore the town
- 5/5
Perfect
- 2/5
Let me start by staying the staff was amazing. Without them, this stay would have been a 1 star. The staff did everything they were allowed to do in order to offer me help. However, the room is where everything turned to crap. The television didn't work. The bathtub didn't work and when attempting to swap from shower to bath, a metal bolt shot out at me that I had to fix. The mini fridge key was hidden and had somehow fallen behind the entertainment center. There was a metal wire disconnected on the window that my fiance got scratched on. The soap gave me an allergic reaction. The food in the restaurant had my fiance vomiting after. The ballroom was not accessible at any point. Overall for the price, I feel a customer is better off going to a Holiday Inn than this particular Hilton.
- 3/5
We stayed three nights and never had our room serviced. The hotel is beautiful and historical with good access to great eating establishments close by.
- 5/5
Overall great experience. Room was spacious and staff were friendly.
- 5/5
Gym is amazing!
- 5/5
I was very curious however, that you acknowledged me as a Hilton Honors’ Member when I booked this time through Expedia. Please tell??
- 5/5
Very nice stay
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel! Stayed for 3 nights. There was something nasty in my coffee but the hotel took care of it and acted quickly. My sisters had a wonderful time and we could read books all day by the fireplace in the lobby!! I love when someone is playing piano. Great place to be.
- 3/5
Nothing special, even during Christmas and Holidays. Restaurant area isn't big and not at all convenient for big families. Fresh Coffee wasn't available if you weren't having breakfast!
- 3/5
Rooms are a bit tired looking. Beautiful old historic building.
- 5/5
Clean friendly staff great location
- 4/5
The property itself is beautiful and historic. The parking situation and arrival at the hotel to check in are extremely limited and difficult to navigate. Upon arrival there was nowhere to station my car for check in, no valet, nothing. I ended up in a parking structure on the block next to the property and had to walk with my luggage at night to the hotel. The food quality at the restaurant was not quite what we would expect for a high rated hotel, but the service and staff were amazing and very nice. Would definitely stay again, just be aware of the difficulties with parking and arrival.
- 5/5
Clean and spacious room! Staff was friendly. Only downside was all the noise on
- 5/5
It was great.
- 4/5
Did not have breakfast, but dinner Monday evening was excellent.
- 5/5
Beautiful room and holiday decor amazing experience
- 5/5
Wonderful holiday stay at the Benson, an elegant hotel in the heart of downtown Portland.
- 5/5
Very accommodating
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff
- 4/5
Fantastic staff, comfortable beds, grand lobby to hang in (especially during Christmas). Room was very small.
- 5/5
Very nice classic hotel that has been well restored
- 1/5
The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Human waste residue was at the buttom of the toilet and pee drops were on the seat . I couldn’t believe my eyes. Drapes had stains and arm chair had several days old food stain. I didn’t even take a shower due to filthy bathroom.
- 5/5
Very classy hotel with great decor and excellent service
- 5/5
Excellent staff and location. Beautiful property
- 5/5
Great stay, beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly, gave great recommendations in the area! Beautiful hotel!
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, classy. The front desk and valet service were both stellar. Parking was expensive, but it was quick and easy to retrieve the car with the click of a button! We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant downstairs, but the menu looked fabulous. Make sure you check out the historical staircase inside the hotel! Awesome insight on the property and Portland as a whole.
- 4/5
Friendly reception staff and responsive maintenance when we had an issue with the heating; comfortable bed and clean room and bathroom; good breakfast in the lobby restaurant (a la carte menu, included); excellent room rate. We like the traditional style but found the older window tricky to close. The bathroom needs shelving or a table for sundries.
- 5/5
It was absolutely outstanding service, and room was the BEST. Manager Marc went over and above on making our stay a thing to remember.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and a nice clean place!
- 5/5
The staff was delightful and accommodating, clean hotel, very warm and welcoming all around! Will definitely stay there again. Love the nostalgia
- 2/5
Took i dunno.. 2-3 requests to get a house keeping call agter over a day of waiting. Never got it. No one came. After a day asked the front desk and they said sorry and they'd give me a free breakfast or drink. Thats pretty sweet. I said no worries just wanted new towels and the sheets tucked in hotel style. Never happend. When i went to checkout they tried to charge me for a breakfast I didnt order.. assume it was for the "free" they promised. Gal told me jo worries they wont charge me.. tha ks I guess. I love the Benson. I hope this was a one time thing.
- 3/5
Lights and water temperature are partially unfunctional, carpets were stained from poor use of carpet cleaner it looked like. The beds were firm, the staff were very considerate, and it's in a fantastic area. I do not regret booking this hotel and was comfortable for most of my time, but I wouldn't personally stay here again if there were other similar options available.
- 4/5
The staff were very welcoming and offered good suggestions for the city. The room was nice and clean but not very sound proof. We heard everything and everyone it seemed.
- 5/5
The hotel is gorgeous, the location
- 3/5
The shower was the smallest that i have used. The shower door was designed to be open at the end by a foot because it swings over the toilet and can't be to long otherwise it will hit the sink. The issue is that you are cold while trying to take a shower and then when you open the door the toilet is soaked with water. The door is open and allows for water to escape and soak the floor/towel for a dangerous situation. The entrance into the tub/shower is so high up because of the shower door having to swing over the toilet. Someone that doesn't have long legs will find this situation hard. The placement of the shower bottles were such that you are unable to get under the water without being sideways. Overall a bad design for the bathroom and shower.
- 5/5
helpul front desk clerks and valet.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel at reasonable price.
- 5/5
NICE STAFF!
- 5/5
Fantastic hospitality!! Wonderful ammenities and great location!
- 5/5
Good people
- 4/5
Folks at front desk were exceptionally kind. Hotel was beautiful as always. Room was slightly dirty, hairs and dirt all around the place, but it was a wonderfully comfortable night.
- 5/5
The room was clean, bed was comfortable & the staff was amazing!
- 5/5
Wonderful in every way
- 5/5
Yes the breakfast was great and fresh. It was out standing.
- 5/5
Great location, clean and quaint.
- 5/5
Spotless Room & very friendly staff!
- 3/5
Sink in the bathroom was a bit clogged.
- 3/5
Our room emwas right next to tge kitchen exhaust for a popular steakhouse, so our roon wreaked of fried steak fat and it permeated our luggage and clothes. There was no fan in the bathroom. I was not impressed given that this is a high end hotel. The rooms need updating.
- 5/5
Front door & desk staff super welcoming and friendly!
- 5/5
Had a very easy check in and check out. Ordered room service and it was yummy! Tomato salad was a pass though.
- 5/5
Staff were very caring and personable!
- 5/5
We also enjoyed a breakfast and a dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. The stairwell journey through a history of pictures was informative. For those interested in the Paranormal activity side of our visit: light brightness adjusted on its own with one of our bedside lights inside the suite on the 4th floor. And one of our faces was distorted in a picture taken in front of the staircase in the lobby.
- 5/5
Clean room, soft pillows, comfy Hilton beds. Lounge was excellent with fire and piano player in the evening.
- 5/5
Front desk staff are exceptional!
- 5/5
Nice historic hotel with updated rooms. Great bar staff and the Lobby fireplace is a nice place to unwind with a cocktail. Portland is far from being a "War Zone" and it's dining options are second to none these days.
- 5/5
Wonderful old hotel great staff terrific room service. Shower controls not complicated. Everything was classy.
- 5/5
Great property. Didn't try the breakfast. Rooms we're very comfortable.
- 3/5
The hotel itself was really nice, we loved how historic it was but with it being old.. the room doors have a gap to the hallway and the walls are thin so you can hear everything, the bathrooms felt like a RV bathroom they’re so tiny, the bed and pillows are super uncomfortable. Other than that, the staff was friendly & the location was great.
- 5/5
Quintessentially Portland at it’s best, it’s a cute place with a great location.
- 3/5
Double bedroom was small. Carpets really have to go. LVP is the way to go. Valet and front desk were pleasant.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at the Benson. Customer service was on point
- 5/5
Nice clean room. Valet parking
- 5/5
Clean room and easy check in
- 5/5
Great, historic hotel!
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Family vacation
- 5/5
I just really like this hotel. Staff are kind and accommodating. I love the rooms, they’re clean and spacious with lots of natural light. I like their valet system being completely digital. Had a great trip and stay.
- 5/5
It was very elegant. Enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
This was my second stay at the Benson - my last was probably 15-20 years ago. The building is beautiful, the location is perfection - right in the heart of downtown, near Powell's and food carts and restaurants and loads of public transit, and the service impeccable. Every person we spoke to went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Only downside is that the Benson is now owned by a huge nationwide chain that appears to be cutting corners - they seemed rather under staffed, and some of the finishes were a bit cheap. I would still recommend staying there, just be patient with the staff who are doing a fantastic job.
- 2/5
couldnt get to hotel because of an event blocked all the streets. awful
- 5/5
Always love the Benson! Close to so many good places to eat & shows.
- 3/5
Room was a bit dated and there must be some rooms that are more updated, since this room wasn't great and paid extra for a corner suite. Better options in Portland and I'll likely skip The Benson due to inconsistency.
- 5/5
The staff at the front desk to housekeeping was always nice and helpful
- 5/5
Gorgeous hotel
- 5/5
Healthy ootions such as vegetarian, low card and whole food products
- 5/5
I like the stairway museum. It's informational and good setting to efficiently use the space to share the history of the hotel and Portland.
- 5/5
Touring through Oregon
- 4/5
Everything was great from location to staff customer service. Only concern was about carpet, it was not vacuumed. Rather than this experience was great.
- 5/5
The rooms are clean and very comfy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There are many good dining options within walking distance and if you are there on a Saturday the Saturday Market is a fun thing to do.
- 4/5
The staff for room service was very quick and polite.
- 5/5
I had a great stay!
- 5/5
Wonderful trip & lovely hotel!
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel in pristine condition with wonderfull!!! Staff. Streets surrounding hotel not great for homeless and street people.
- 4/5
Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff was wonderful and the room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the lobby bar’s hours. We checked in at 3pm but had to go to another hotel down the street to get a drink.
- 5/5
If was lovely. Local and the staff were very accomodating.
- 5/5
Amazing historic property. The staff is top notch. A must stay in Portland.
- 4/5
Hotel was nice but the area needs better laws to deal with drug addicts

I love the Benson Hotel. Such a friendly staff and great ambience in a historical gem of a building. The rooms are beautifully furnished and clean and we had good, urban views of Portland.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Lovely hotel.
- 5/5
Quiet and classic
- 5/5
The staff is amazing, we had a loud noisy group check in on our floor, yelling, slamming doors, taking sellfies in the luggage cart, etc., and the staff was right on it immediately to teach them how to behave in this hotel. The hotel bar/restaurant had a great staff and a welcoming feel. The decor was comfortable upscale and everything was super clean. Staff responsive but not overbearing. Staying at the historic Benson Hotel was on my bucket list and I was not disappointed.
- 4/5
The only thing that was lacking was the service at the restaurant. They were severely understaffed. On my last visit I ended up leaving because I was left at the table with no water and no menu. The restaurant was not busy at all..

Great breakfast. Staff great service and friendly. Great location.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service, beautiful facility. Experienced staff make you feel very welcome.

Nice hotel.

Amazing stay

Rooms were clean but need upgrade. Average. Noise seeps through walls. For some reason smells of marijuna came into the bathroom late at night. Conveniently located. $$$

Overall the place was really clean comfortable

My family and I traveled together and we had 2 rooms. My husband & my room was spacious and clean. The drawers on the bedside tables were hard to push back in and fridge was clunky to open but it worked well. My other family members room was smaller. Their bathroom door had an old style door knob with a large keyhole and sizable gap under the door. It made them a little uncomfortable. The staff was always friendly. It was nice to get complimentary bottles of water as needed. I was surprised that there was no receptacle for recycling.
- 5/5
My wife and I stay here all the time when we come up to Portland. Consistently a great experience.
- 5/5
Will definitely be back!!
- 4/5
They were implementing a new system so our first room was not turned over. They promptly gave us a new room that was extremely clean and the staff were amazing. The rooms are very quiet and beds are comfortable. Such a beautiful hotel. The staff again were amazing. I definitely recommend valet unless you boo the parking garage ahead of time.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Everything from valet to in-room dining was smooth. Hotel staff were great. Already booked my next stay here.
- 5/5
This was my second visit to this hotel within a few months. Same great service and overall experience.
- 5/5
Beautiful older buildings with modern touches. Great location for downtown Portland. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Fancy hotel with friendly check in. Just as described with everything you would want in a hotel room. Loved the weighted fake fur blanket
- 5/5
Clean, convenient and comfortable bed!
- 5/5
The staff was exceptionally pleasant, helpful and efficient
- 5/5
This hotel is beautiful with an old word feel but clean and fresh. The restaurant and bar area are really good and the staff are extremely attentive. I hoe we stay here again.
- 5/5
Ready comfortable beds
- 4/5
This is a beautiful historic hotel. But when we arrived around midnight, there was no one at the valet. The area is not safe at that time of night and we circled around and called the hotel. I had to go into the hotel and leave the car on the street to get someone to valet the car. Then, when we arrived in our room, the chairs and table were stacked on top of the bed and credenza. It appeared that the carpet had just been steamed. We should not have been put in this room. Fortunately they comped our valet.
- 4/5
Staff were friendly, and the property was at the quiet end of downtown. The downside was the Bathroom space were very limited, for it to be a studio suite. And we had to request to have a microwave for our room.”
- 5/5
Clean rooms and very friendly staff
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel!
- 3/5
The hotel lobby is stunning with old world charm yet felt like a hospital waiting room. Lighting was so bright and harsh, no fire going in the fireplace and furniture that made the lobby look cheap. Was expecting a warm welcoming lobby and this was not it. The food and service in the lobby restaurant was poor, the food even worse. The room was wonderful expect for the towels - horrible cheap towels that exfoliated your skin every time you used them. Hilton is missing the mark on this hotel, a few simple changes could make it the hotel you are expecting - warm up the lobby, make it more inviting, improve the food and service and ambiance in the restaurant, and buy some decent quality towels.
- 4/5
It was a really nice hotel and when we checked in they were fully booked for two beds. If you have allergies - be aware!! We wont stay there again. Loved the refillable shampoo/conditioner/ lotion etc. in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Will come back
- 5/5
It was a nice room
- 5/5
Staff super friendly

The rooms were lovely Recently updated and very spacious. I highly recommend!
- 5/5
It would be good if you could get a hot drink in the lobby area after 11:00am, but I am just being picky. On the whole the hotel was lovely. Unfortunately there are a lot of homeless people on the streets around the hotel some of whom seemed agitated and were shouting at us. My daughter and I did not always feel safe walking around, which was a shame as Portland seems like a beautiful city.
- 5/5
So accommodating and the property was really pretty and charming! Super walkable to great restaurants and popular sites.
- 5/5
Beautiful place, wonderful staff, restaurant delicious.
- 5/5
The Benson is amazing. I said there many times in the past, now returning after almost 20 years. Hilton has very faithfully restored the public rooms. The guest rooms themselves have been completely brought up to modern standards. The location of course is fabulous. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
We loved having breakfast and talking to the waiter every morning. He was a gem.
- 5/5
Great hotel, great experience overall.
- 5/5
Check in was quick and we were able to access our room early. Comfortable and easily walkable to most places.
- 5/5
Beautiful. Historic, yet contemporary
- 5/5
The Benson was an amazing property, and the staff was just as incredible. Lots of food and shopping options around. Will be staying here again. Hoping to see a the ghost of the woman in a teal dress next time.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable, clean, spacious. Only comment I would have is for how big the room is, I thought the bathroom would be bigger. Would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Overall, Nice hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a not so awesome area of Portland.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel
- 5/5
Great historic hotel
- 5/5
Beautiful, unique
- 5/5
Property and staff were great, surrounding area felt a little unsafe
- 5/5
Loved that it was in the middle of downtown. It's a quick 7 min walk to the Red Line to get to and from the airport. We were able to walk anywhere we needed to go.
- 5/5
Service was great!
- 5/5
Staff checked me in really quick. The property is very beautiful and clean. The rooms were big and clean aswell. Also they helped me with a problem on my reservation which i was grateful for. I highly recommend.
- 5/5
Historical and relevant to Portland area, but was also clean and hospitable staff. Would highly recommend this place
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
Nice staff, clean, high quality amenities
- 4/5
Good location
- 1/5
Don't be fooled by the hotel lobby pics. This is not a clean hotel and does not meet any standard for the brand name Hilton. We booked through Hotels.com and could not cancel our third night stay. We choose to forgo staying a third night as the hotel was not clean nor felt comfortable in the rooms.
- 3/5
Did not like Breakfast at hotel. The one dinner we had was good. Not a lot of common space. Bar staff are fabulous the location is good.
- 4/5
Lovely room, kind of small. Great location. Luxurious feel. Nice gym.
- 4/5
I've stayed at the Benson many times. It's an historic gilded age hotel with grand historic lobby, but also old elevators that are a little slow. I do not like the current decor of the rooms - very sterile beige, brown, gray "modern" like a Holiday Inn and blah and they look cheaper than the history and architecture of this Grande hotel deserve. Like zero creativity going on or style, just cheap blahhhh. They also put me across the hall from the mechanical room and it was a bit noisy all night with the hummmm of equipment. Still, it was a great bargain mid-week, staff are super professional and nice, great location. Will be back of course.

Wonderful rooms, beds and service!
- 5/5
Lovely atmosphere and great service. Very dog friendly. Would return! Take the stairs!
- 5/5
The beds were amazing, the room was extremely clean. The one draw back was we didn’t find a water bottle filler but that could have been by the bathrooms in the lobby, we never made it there.
- 4/5
Charming, cute, convenient
- 3/5
Lobby area was very nice but room smelled of cigarettes and was not properly cleaned upon check-in. Area around the hotel has
- 5/5
Had a great time, as always, here at The Benson. Our favorite place to stay in downtown Portland.
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Easy walk to several local eateries. Homeless population in the city itself is a bit of a turn off, but they do not hang out in front of the property or around the building which makes it feel much safer than some of the other properties around. Overall great experience and would likely return to stay again.
- 4/5
The area around the property is run down and full of homeless people. $50 for valet parking but use it. I parked my rental in a ‘secure’ parking lot and returned to find it had been broken into. It was the parking lot next to the hotel. I suspect it was the car park staff.
- 5/5
We live in portland, but occasionally like to spend the night downtown. The Benson never disappoints.
- 5/5
The Benson Portland, Curio Collection is a stunning hotel! The service is nice but casual, however the amenities and food are stunningly delicious! The downtown surrounding area is alarming as there are many homeless citizens that live in the area and can be surprising to those unaccustomed to such a sight.
- 3/5
Way too expensive! Not fancy enough for the price. No one helped me up the stairs to the lobby with my bags which was odd. Not greeted warmly nor was there any appreciation for my Hilton status. My tub was broken and I was looking forward to a soak after a very long day of travel. Dog friendly which was cool but I don't want to be on the same floor as barking pups. Not there fault...lots to bark at. But most properties know to have guests without pets on a separate floor. Lobby coffee was good.
- 5/5
Breakfast is well worth it and excellent quality.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Beds were comfortable. Staff very responsive if needed anything
- 5/5
This is the nicest hotel and worth the price you pay
- 5/5
Beautiful architecture in a historic propery. Clean and spacious room. Good location and proximity to dining and shopping. Less comforable walking downtown at night.
- 5/5
Convenient and comfortable. Friendly staff, but I prefer daily turn down service. Supposedly rendered when asked. I had to call multiple times.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Great location, with tons of public transportation nearby. Close to coffee, restaurants, bars, shopping. Staff was lovely and took care of us. Room was great - quite large and nicely furnished.
- 5/5
It was a part of history and there are rumors that it might be haunted. Made our stay interesting. Also, Kathryn and Bobby in the restaurant were great and fun to talk with.
- 5/5
Close to lots of touristy places, easy to go everywhere. Despite the tents scenes surround the hotel, it’s a great hotel to stay. Don’t miss out the stairway gallery in hotel, tells part of the history of Portland.
- 4/5
Historic building was amazing. My reservation request was for connected rooms. Front desk staff told me all rooms are not connected. When we got to our rooms, both were connected, just not to each other. I felt no effort was made for my 1 request and the the check in lady was border line rude when i asked about it. Other then that, amazing place.
- 5/5
Incredibly friendly staff!
- 5/5
Loved this hotel in downtown Portland!
- 5/5
The lobby was elegant. The rooms were spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff and restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Convenient location for walking and a visit to Powell’s. Love the old school history vibe of the hotel, and the staff is top notch.
- 5/5
A beautiful historic hotel
- 5/5
The property was relaxing and convenient!
- 5/5
Great room, beautiful hotel lobby!
- 5/5
This hotel was incredible and looked like a pretty hoppin wedding venue as we saw 3 beautiful brides within our 12hr stay!!! The valet parking was fantastic and our driver helped us with our luggage!!! I highly recommend this place😍
- 5/5
The restaurant severed breakfast and dinner. Top notch food and friendly polite wait staff. Prices were so low, it was hard to believe.
