Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, there are mixed reviews about the rooms, with some guests finding them comfortable and well-appointed, while others find them small, outdated, or lacking in amenities. The location is generally seen as convenient and central, but some guests express safety concerns about the surrounding area.

Sliped and fell in jacuzzi tub room floor had water on it from getting out of tub. Poorly designed slick floor was like ice. Hurt my seif badly and was sent up rubber mat and two band aids for a fractured femur and all toes on right foot turned purple. Probsbly should have called my attourney and gone to an ER but was on expensive vacation and could still walk with discomfort.

Traveling alone in an unfamiliar city can be daunting but that’s why I book with Kimpton. These charming hotels are safe, clean & reasonably priced. The Vintage was no exception. The number of times I heard the phrase “no worries” from management & staff was incredibly comforting. I enjoyed my 3 night stay immensely & felt safe & well cared for the entire time.

Don't do the hot tub room. There are 2 different rooms. One is great, larger room w/ a couch. The other is super small and the hot tub needs to be decommissioned absolutely disgusting. Same price! The staff was amazing and breakfast was good. Switched me rooms the next night with a large tub and a tiny shower. No balcony. But still charged me the same insane amount for the hot tub room.... Super disappointing considering this was a #staycation that I saved up for and thought I knew what I was getting. I cried that night. Considering I've stayed before. The bartender amazing. Ben from the the front desk did everything he could.

Nice hotel in good location. Good bar in the lobby as well.
- 5/5
The staff was absolutely LOVELY. Misaki at the desk let us into our room early - a very welcome surprise; Bar tenders - Jono and Bradley - were fun and friendly. The lobby is extremely inviting and comfortable. Excellent vibes all around. Great daily housekeeping (thank you, Laura). Situated on a safe street, with plenty around to do and see, lots of great food places and shopping nearby. We will definitely stay here again. Our first time in Portland - what a delight!

Breakfast staff consistently bring your order late, order is wrong and when they "fire it real fast" it's not just burnt but the plastic grill is baked into the black stuff. So you're literally eating melted plastic in your food. Staff overall is very aloof in a very Portland way, everyone thinks they're too cool to work there and don't even look at you, and the garage across the street is vandalized every night. Windows of my car as well as the moon roof for some reason was totally smashed up. In short this is the most "evil" hotel I've ever stayed in, everyone hates working there so unless you're a sith lord trying to get more powerful in the dark side by getting hated on by everyone, don't ever stay here and especially don't park at the US Bankcorp garage on the next block. Kimpton is having a "Wack Attack" at this hotel and it really shows, I don't like leaving negative reviews but I feel obligated to help other people avoid having this same experience. The staff here are seriously out of it and treated me like I came in wearing a MAGA hat or something. It's like, if you can't stand dealing with other human beings don't work in hospitality? Do something you actually enjoy.

The only thing was that you could tell it was older. Paint was peeling from some areas of the walls and the furniture was old. Otherwise amazing.

I would like to start with saying I always keep my reviews fair and stick to the facts. Ok so i was pretty disappointed from the start. I rented the Queen with the Skyview. The original toom we were given was on the 10th floor in the corner and it felt like a dorm closet. It did NOT look like the pictures. It was tiny, slightly run down and the fridge didnt work. The corner window coverings were screwed in, making it feel even smaller. They did move us right away to the Queen that looked more like the picture. Again somewhat worn down with scratches on the dresser etc..We then ordered food to the room that night. Let me say it was horrible. The bottom of the cardboard container was soaked in oil. The bread and the burger were burnt. Another disappointment. The following morning we did let mgmt know. They were great and took it off our bill. Feeling slightly disappointed after what we spent we asked to upgrade the room. Mgmt was great and we moved to the King with the spa. This room was very nice. The game room was fun. You can play pool, connect 4, etc..The bar was nice. Expensive of course, but that was to be expected. It was cheaper to park in the parking lot next door. It was $60 for 2 nights instead of the $65 a day valet at the Hotel. I travel a lot and I havent had a bad experience in a very long time. I was expecting an actual compensation or discounted offer but that did NOT happen. Overall, i wouldn't stay here again, as there are cheaper nicer places to stay. :(
- 5/5
I love that the rooms all vary so its a different experience each time. The in-room yoga mat and bathrobes are a nice touch. The giant spa tub stayed hot for a Loooong time and quickly filled. The gym is basic but clean and gets the job done. Cant wait to return

The bedroom TV didn’t work and the soaking tub was dirty.

The customer service was awesome!
- 5/5
Beautiful spot with great amenities and unexpected extras like an art market. Such a wonderful experience, I’ll be back.
- 5/5
Great room, dinner menu was better than going out, happy hour was fun. It also is conveniently located downtown. Plus right up Broadway is the most beautiful park to explore
- 5/5
Great staff who went the extra mile. The game room was fun for hubby and I. We also enjoyed the food & hot tub!
- 5/5
Service and location excellent top tier
- 5/5
Great location, very friendly staff and they’re very helpful to us
- 3/5
The location was great. The room was large. I booked a room with a view but did not get any windows. Also, the food was terrible,
- 2/5
Pictures are miss leading. The room is so small. Felt uncomfortable for 2 people. A LOT of "extra fees" over priced. Never going back.
- 4/5
Nice room, staff were amazing. It was a quiet and comfortable hotel. Valet was great too
- 5/5
Lovely lobby bar where the people were very nice if you are a lone traveller. Easily accessible to downtown popular conference hotels without all the hustle and bustle. Staff were very friendly.
- 3/5
Rooms are a little bit dated but that’s not a big deal. Major issue is that the walls are thiiiiinnnnnn. You can hear everything. We had the fortune of a couple staying next door or upstairs that was engaging in all sorts of role play amongst other things at all hours of night and morning and day and we could hear everything. Non issue if this was during the day while we were out but the 4-7am festivities were a bit much.
- 4/5
I love this hotel, but I have one complaint: I got charged $31 dollars a day ($62) for "snacks and drinks" that were available at the Front Desk that I was NOT informed about and I found this out during checkout. I was with a large party so they made hundreds of extra dollars, and none of us were notified and we all would have appreciated the extra water. In fact, they charged $4 per water in our room without letting us know we could get it at the front desk for free and that ain't right. Furthermore, they have a free happy hour every night and we weren't told about that either.
- 3/5
No idea why this place is rated 4.5 stars. Furnishings are very worn. Sink stoppers in both of our rooms were stuck shut. Mold on soap dispensers and tub grout. Very dimly lit. One of the “upgraded” rooms offered as an alternative smelled like cat pee. Staff was outstanding so that was a plus.

Walkable area, hotel was very well kept.
- 5/5
Huge rooms, beautiful breakfast, lovely lobby. Was great for our work trip.
- 3/5
The hot tub ran very low on water after only using it for about 30 minutes and just about every jet to adjust the flow, seemed to be broken and came off when trying to adjust. The hot tub itself is what we got the room for and just overall unsatisfied with it's condition.
- 5/5
Room was amazing and the staff were great to work with!

The bad: Elevators smelled like homelessness which was weird. If you drive, you have to valet for $60/day or park in parking garage across the street. We did valet which was super nice and convenient but decently pricey.
- 1/5
Paid for a Jacuzzi room. The TUB has green slime all over edges and the filter area. My GF and I also were sick the following next day and left with itchy skin even though we showered after getting in the Jacuzzi.

Great location in the pearl district.

Staff was amazing

Great room, light, spacious. Nothing
- 3/5
The Maid staff was excellent and did a good job cleaning my room.
- 5/5
The hotel made us feel special. Great central location as we walked to restaurants and shops.
- 3/5
Tired hotel. Missing detail that we usually enjoy in hotels of this star
- 5/5
Great Place in general
- 4/5
Clean room. Excellent staff. The bar was fun and the bartenders were so much fun. The food was good. We had a suite and the room size was good with beautiful windows and a comfy couch to relax on but the lighting in the entire room was dim and odd. The bathroom was very dim. The bed was comfortable and it was pretty quiet for being right downtown. The sink in the room was hard to use. The property itself was nice and it was a secure building but unfortunately the number of homeless people around was a little unsettling. I don’t think that is avoidable in downtown Portland so you just learn it’s part of life there.
- 2/5
I stayed here a few years back and really liked it but this time was disappointing. We were charged a bs $30 a day “amenity fee” on top of what we prepaid (which was supposed to include all fees upfront). The room was ok but seemed to have a fruit fly infestation in the bathroom. The last night we were there the carbon monoxide detector went off at 3am. It was very worrying because CO poisoning probably feels like getting blasted awake in the middle of the night, the windows don’t open either. Since the phone in the room didn’t work so I had to go to the front desk to get it shut off. I was told by the staff that the smoke detectors were old and breaking down but it didn’t occur to them that they should get ahead of the problem. In fact they seemed pretty unconcerned with the whole issue. I got a shrug of an apology and one night of amenity taken off. Overall not a great experience.

The hotel smells bad, especially
- 5/5
Lovely stay at The Vintage. We had a comfortable room, comfy bed. Only issue - no place to hang up damp towels. Only one towel bar with hand towels. Also - shower gel pump may be clogged and bottle almost empty so it was hard to get enough to shower.
- 5/5
Very nice!
- 5/5
The place was very understaffed, but all the staff was very excellent. They always accommodated any requests I made and overall it was a very nice stay worth the price.
- 5/5
Nice clean. Basic hotel. Room smelled a bit stuffy.
- 4/5
Love the vibe of this hotel. Could use better pillow options but highly recommend.
- 1/5
Very noisy
- 3/5
Bar staff was amazing and friendly. Some front desk were unfriendly. Attempted to order room service
- 5/5
Yay vintage hotel! Stay here it’s great !
- 5/5
Solid downtown hotel option. Room was not ready for check-in by 4 pm, however not a major problem. Parking is criminally expensive so seek alternative parking, if needed.
- 5/5
Upon arrival there were refreshments. They have a nice lounging area and secure doors
- 5/5
Fantastic experience
- 5/5
Nice property and convenient location, really friendly and helpful staff. Best part was how welcoming they were for my dog including delivering a complimentary dog bed to the room.
- 5/5
We found this hotel to be wonderful. Great location in Portland. The check-in was easy with nice staff. The lobby is spacious but yet cozy with a nice wine / food bar. Our room was a corner room with city view and was exactly was we were looking for. Plus the pillows were perfecr. Highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Great property amazing knowledgeable friendly staff highly recommended
- 5/5
Check in was smooth, upgraded rooms. Very chic facility.
- 5/5
I appreciated that this property was centrally located,
- 5/5
Great hotel great staff
- 5/5
The hotel is central to downtown and the pearl district. There are dozens of things to do and great places to eat within a 15 minute walk. The staff were amazing. The lobby bar is a fun place to hang out in and grab a beverage. We used the hotels valet service (you get a reduced price if you have an electric or hybrid vehicle btw) but the people we traveled with parked in the lot across the street. We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Loved the room, atrium, lobby, valet, and staff!
- 5/5
Lovely and informative staff. Luc at the front desk was excellent.
- 5/5
Fun fact…love after lock up was filmed here for one couple. I realized after the fact, just funny.
- 2/5
Positive- beds were comfortable, clean, close to a bunch of stuff. Portland has some work to do until we return if ever. Walk a couple blocks to see homeless digging through the trash or shooting up. Just not the cute city it used to be.
- 5/5
Great stay, great location
- 5/5
Always a great stay at the Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland by IHG!
- 5/5
Excellent jumping off point for all of downtown Portland
- 5/5
quite lovely hotel I will definitely stay here the next time I am in town
- 5/5
Clean, friendly.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was conveniently located within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great stay, amazing staff, great benefits like daily bodega credit, breakfast tickets, and free wine daily at 5. Room was clean and everything was in working order. Great bar in the lobby and plenty of places to lounge. I would def stay here again.
- 5/5
Have more windows
- 3/5
Booked this stay as a mini staycation, and purchased the valet parking as part of our package. We arrived to check in after the 3:00pm arrival time and by 3:30 our room still wasn’t ready. There was no one there that could drive a manual transmission/stick and after some back and forth with the front staff, we were allowed to drive the car with valet as passenger. Unfortunately, something wasn’t functioning within the hotel’s system/garage doors wouldn’t open and ended up for 15 minutes stuck in a manual on a steep ramp. We were given a small credit to use at the hotel for the inconvenience. Finally made it to the room and it really was in need of repairs to be considered a 4.5 star hotel. Chipped tiles, peeling wall paper, the vinyl on the bed frame was flaking off….although I found the staff to be friendly, it just didn’t merit the rating or the price.
- 5/5
You need a team dedicated to this amenity. The bartender was amazing but he can not be tending the bar while taking in room dining orders and delivering them!
- 5/5
We have stayed at your hotel several times, in part because the staff is so friendly, especially to our dogs! In particular, Mr. Horowitz, the bell captain who parks and retrieves our car, is always helpful and friendly. The bar is also fun and the cocktails inspired.
- 5/5
Always clean, always friendly staff.
- 2/5
The building is old and the furnishings in our room were a little shabby. The main problem was too many dogs. The first night a barking dog kept waking us up. The next day we were told we could move to a different room but the whole building is "pet friendly" so there was no guarantee we would not have the same problem. There should be floors where dogs are not allowed.
- 5/5
Staff was really nice, place is not bad, pretty clean.
- 5/5
We will be back!
- 5/5
Erik and Toby were very accommodating and helpful. Facility and rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Location in Portland is excellent. I would stay her again.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff. Good location and friendly atmosphere in the room. Love the decor
- 5/5
Beautiful property- loved our stay here!
- 5/5
This was my first stay at the Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland and it was a blast! I only stayed for one night, and parked in the parking garage across the street from the hotel. I brought my dog with me and the front desk people were so kind, gave her all the love and some treats too. They had a social hour from 5-6 that was cozy and the guests were kind too. Such a lovely property, would love to stay again!
- 5/5
I've stayed here several times and it is my Go To in Portland. Staff treats you like friends. We got great dining and tattoo shop recommendations from Bradly!
- 5/5
Its pretty and the rooms bed amazing
- 5/5
Ben at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind. He gave us some great ideas for dining and fun activities to do in the area. We loved our room as it was super clean and peaceful
- 3/5
Convenient location. Unpleasant odor in the room and beddings.
- 5/5
Tobby was absolutely a joy. He made sure I was happy with everything and made the check in and check out very smooth and cheerful. The room was very nice as well . We enjoyed our stay !
- 4/5
Understanding the parking was confusing. But park across the street at the bank and it makes it easier access. No in and out parking unless you valet but that’s typical for the city.
- 5/5
Location is great. Valet is prompt, and rooms are clean.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time at this charming hotel. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the happy hour with free wine! Definitely will be back!
- 4/5
The property itself is nice, the hotel staff is incredibly accommodating and helpful. The restaurant attached to the hotel that they advertise for needs a lot of improvement and the quality of the service from the restaurant severely disrupted my enjoyment. Incredibly slow service resulting in needing two hours to dine for just two people both times. Food served cold, lacking in flavor, slow wait staff, terrible coffee, the first time we went in we never got our breakfast, we ended up having to leave because the server forgot to put the order in, the place was empty but for 4 tables, every table had dirty dishes and left over plates of food from guest before. The waitress kept disappearing for 15-20 minutes at a time. It was probably the worst dining I’ve had in years.
- 5/5
Always love staying at this property when I visit Portland. Very walkable to everything downtown. It's a shame that it's almost a ghost town post Covid. But, it's slowly recovering.
- 3/5
Although the concept is cute - the details are lacking. Bathroom is way too small, bedding is meh, weird smell in room, cheap thin toilet paper, no bathrobes in room and signs of wear and tear everywhere. We also had one front desk person who was a complete jerk at both check in and check out. Would not stay here again.
- 5/5
Great little boutique hotel. Perfect location surrounded by all the fun that downtown Portland has to offer.
- 5/5
Wonderful Stay. Amazing Breakfast.
- 5/5
The weather was great. We walked to several places and enjoyed the city streets. Transportation was convenient to and from the hotel. There are many options for public transportation also. We spent some time in the lobby bar, relishing in the decor, the friendliness of the staff and other guests. We explored a few restaurants, took a boat ride, and had a great time in Portland!
- 4/5
I loved everything including the valet parking Portland is hard to drive and park in. When we asked where we could take our dog to the bathroom they replied with no idea. We were left to our own without really knowing the city to find a place to take our dog out. There was a city square two blocks away that we found the next morning. Overall they are dog friendly and maybe it was just the person checking us in but a place to take your dog to the bathroom is important
- 5/5
Super impressed with my stay!
- 5/5
The staff here were beyond amazing, especially Lauren anf Elli. We loved the game room and the social hour of wine. Would definitely recommend staying here.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay, hotel was very cute and fancy. It was a nice weekend get away with my partner.
- 4/5
It is extremely dog friendly however the dogs in the room next to us barked all day and night!
- 5/5
The staff was courteous and friendly. The room was clean and decorated beautifully with new age art. The bed was very comfortable. We had a very long day at a tournament and it was great to have such a wonderful experience
- 5/5
Hotel and amenities were really nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
This hotel was once the nicest in Portland. Our room last evening was tired, smelled like mold, and very small. We have been visitng this place for 25 years (including our wedding night). I don't know what has caused it to go downhill so much.
- 5/5
Right in the middle of downtown! Very friendly staff! Buy the breakfast voucher!
- 5/5
The staff is amazing. Super nice people. From housekeeping to front desk.
- 5/5
The staff is super nice and location is wonderful. It is clean and quiet too.
- 4/5
The spa bath had nothing to pull to drain. Didn’t ask for help cause it was late at night but super inconvenient. The block is filled with the homeless so you just have to be prepared to deal with that going in and out
- 5/5
The hotel staff were incredible. Always resdy to answer questions about the area, give advise on places to goand things to do. Rooms were exceptionally clean. Location was fantastic. Close to shopping, countless restaurants, and micro breweries. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Great hotel very classy suites.
- 5/5
Nice, comfortable stay. Pleasant attmosphere, friendly staff and good location.
- 5/5
Front desk was great!
- 5/5
The check in guys , the vallet and The general manager were amazing.
- 5/5
Staff was great. Especially Eric Horwitz who seemed to be everywhere from manager’s office to front desk to valet. Always with a helpful hand.
- 3/5
It was ok but not as nice of a hotel that it’s portrayed as.
- 5/5
Came for a concert.
- 5/5
Only complaint the game room, pool cues were unusable and WII wouldn't work
- 4/5
Convenient downtown Portland location with easy access to lots of popular destination like Glowing Greens, Powell's Books, and Voodoo Doughnut. Unique, urban decor via a vintner's focus with each room bearing the name of a winery. There is a games area with a pool table, etc. that we didn't use nor the bikes available to borrow, but they added to the property's value. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. There's also a bar onsite and a breakfast-only restaurant making it the kind of oasis in the city you want for a great getaway.
- 5/5
Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Location was convenient to plenty of restaurants, the waterfront and other entertainment. We will definitely be back. One small thing for other customers to take note of, Hotels.com claimed that all fees were included with the booking, but there was a "Resort fee" tacked on above the hotels.com price. It woudl be nice if pricing was fully transparent.
- 3/5
The valet service
- 5/5
Very kind . Free drinks
- 5/5
We had a lovely stay. I love the property. It has a really nice and welcoming vibe. The bar lounge area is beautifully decorated and the cocktails were great. Also our room was gorgeous and spacious
- 5/5
This place is great! We will definitely be back…
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and quick to answere any questions I had.
- 5/5
Great staff!!! Willing to help in any way. Plus Hood River Whiskey tasting next door.
- 5/5
Lovely quiet downtown Portland Hotel.
- 5/5
Very swanky hotel. Good breakfast options at a reasonable price for a hotel. Nice graffiti art. Room was spacious, but bed was a bit hard.
- 5/5
The hotel and room were very clean and well maintained. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. Our only complaint is the bed was not very comfortable.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff, cool room, awesome bathtub, great location. Appreciated the snack credits for our flight home.
- 5/5
The staff were friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
Beautiful stay, wonderful staff, room was so cool. Recommend the skylight room, small and intimate but when it rains and the reflection from the windows. Hot damn. Worth it.
- 3/5
good location
- 5/5
Nice
- 1/5
Had to check out at 1 am because the voices from the room next to us were too loud to get to sleep. Nobody answered the front desk when I called to alert them 2 timed. So we just left.
- 4/5
Great room but should have come with some nice bigger towels amd some robes. Super comfy bed and pillows and amenities for bathroom were ok...not top notch. Would stay again
