Reviews
The Jupiter Hotel receives mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its central location, cool and funky vibe, and great food and drinks. However, several guests have complained about noise issues, lack of certain amenities like elevators, mini fridges, and coffee makers, and difficulties with parking. Some guests also mention that the rooms are small and that the firepit sitting area is not available.

I loved the vintage vibe of the hotel. We stayed in the original Jupiter. It was clean and comfortable. The QR codes on the various cards in the room were very helpful. The chalkboard door was fun! You must go to the 5th floor of the Jupiter Next. There is an open air lounge with great views! The restaurant on the property, Hey Love, was casual and relaxing surrounded by plants There wasn't anything that I didn't like.

Location is good. We payed $89 which feels like a good price for what you’re getting. It’s clean and great to stay the night coming through town. I think having to pay $20 for parking at a motel/inn is a bit steep since most offer complimentary parking. Hotels often charge for parking but this is very much a motel/inn. If the rooms were slightly more elevated I would maybe understand. Paying extra for parking

Good extra area for working, congregating with friends in town. Staff was great! Parking in area is opening up. Needs a coffee maker in the room. I want my coffee before going out.

The immediate neighborhood is pretty run down (as much of downtown Portland seems to be) and seedy looking but felt safe. It is about a one mile walk to downtown and very near bus and tram lines so transportation was convenient. There is nice courtyard to sit in and read or enjoy a snack of beverage of your own as there is no service. No coffee in room but available in the lobby across the street starting at 6:00 or downstairs (after 8:00). It is actually more like a motel with. exterior walkways to rooms but there is security person on premises through the night. The bar in the lobby of Jupiter Next (companion property across the street) was voted best hotel bar in the US in 2024. It is interesting, high energy but quite loud. They serve a short menu of excellent Mexican food. the Machette was excellent and reasonably priced. We stayed five nights and it was fine after the negative first impression. Parking is limited and expensive; $40 per day to park underground in an extremely tight garage). Good news is you don't really need a car if you are going to be in or around Portland. There is a James Beard award winning restaurant (Le Pigeon a few doors down - pricey - $140 prix fix menu)

Clean, good location Parking was too expensive. I was told it was $20 per day and it ended being $40 a day. I was informed when I asked about the extra amount that because I booked with Booking.com I was charged a destination fee. I booked the room through booking.com, but I did not book the parking through them. I booked it when I arrived and they were not involved
- 3/5
It's nice vibe, nice rooms, easy access rooms with no reception.
- 3/5
The room was okay. Staff was less than helpful, told me they had no onsite parking available because I booked the room through Expedia. Had to park in a pay lot 2 block away. We stayed 2 nights and can assure you there were lots of empty parking spaces the 2 nights we were there. It's obvious the front desk was BS ing me, would not recommend this place.
- 5/5
Location, aesthetics, great food and drinks, all were fantastic Parking was an issue at first, but I was able to get a spot the next day.

Good enough for our 1 night stay. Our ground floor room had no visible outlets to charge our phones besides the bathroom counter. Street parking was pretty easy.
- 4/5
Location to food and drinks gave us several things to choose from. It was a short walk to Revolution Hall. There were some areas around the hotel that were pretty dirty and had several homeless people, but it didnt feel unsafe

Close to places we needed to be. Cost was affordable. Having no fridge in the room was inconvenient - some rooms have one - ours did not. The morning coffee which was supposed to be available every day at 8:00 was only available occasionally - for example, one morning around 9 AM the coffee pot was not set up on the ‘Original side’ and on the ‘Next’ side it was empty and the desk clerk said “Sorry I’ll get to that in a little while”; so we had to walk across and down the street to Grendel‘s for coffee every morning - no biggie but they did promise coffee and we were out another $10 daily for 5 days. After the cleaning service, our room smelled like smoke and it was hard to get the smell out. So we stopped service. Parking was across the street and was in a sketchy area. There seemed to be plenty of parking spaces near the rooms which were not available to guests. Finally, and most importantly to us, Internet service was either extremely slow or nonexistent and when we asked about it the answer we got was “Oh it can be patchy on that side”. One more issue: without being warned beforehand, there was an extremely loud prom party essentially right outside of our door; this went on till about 10:30 PM. The desk clerk said - “Yeah it’s pretty loud; It’s the prom”. The thing is, I like the property and find it charming - it’s just that management don’t seem to take the effort to make staying there a good idea. Fixing the wifi, buying a few small fridges, enforcing non-smoking, and attending to coffee for a couple of hours in the morning seem like easy upgrades - if they care.

The only issue i would have is that there was no refrigerator in my room, which I think is pretty standard these days. But the price was good. And they had underground parking.
- 2.5/5
Very small rooms, parking fee. Don’t understand the reputation it has.
- 5/5
Great! Exactly what I needed....

It’s important for people to know there are not many amenities. No coffee in the rooms, no microwave, fridge or bathtub. If you know this, it can be ok. But the real problem was a LOUD party in an outdoor area directly outside my room door. It was a night I needed rest and there was no quiet place to go even with ear plugs. There response was that quiet hours start at 10 and the party ended the which was true. But usually you think quiet hours means no loud parties in other rooms. But what they are saying here is different. This should be stated more clearly. Again, had they responded differently, I’d feel differently now. They did not even pretend to be interested in feedback, especially since I had booked through Expedia . They said as much. You’re getting a deal. However the daily additional fees made it not a deal at all! So, I just needed to do more checking in on the details, but won’t stay at this hotel again, even though nice otherwise. And likely won’t do an Expedia bundle so I can really understand hidden fees and ask more questions of the property. I’m a creature of habit so I’d have love to stay there in the 2 more weeks I will be there this week, but won’t because of the rudeness of the individual I spoke with at check out (11 am on may 12th)
- 4.5/5
It was super cute, I loved the location! I loved how attentive the staff were! The bar/restaurant inside the lobby was amazing, great bartenders and good vibes (hey love)! The rooms (NEXT JUPITER) had chalk board doors! I loved that it has an event space, but it’s kinda loud if you want to have a quiet night. Also, the shower was very hard to turn on, but other than that no complaints!

The pillows were awful.
- 3/5
Staff was great, but upon check in the lady said the second floor was out of the way but quiet. I definitely was not quiet. I slept with earplugs in and still could hear the noises
- 5/5
This is the perfect place to stay if you don't need a lot of room. It was very clean it was very nice, and we loved the mural on the wall, ours happened to be of David Bowie. And it's a kind of fun and quirky 60s-style hotel. We love the quirky nature of it.
- 5/5
Everything at the Jupiter met and/or exceeded our expectations! We will come back to this location again in the future!
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and accommodating, great stay.
- 5/5
Fantastic view from Next
- 4/5
very noisy ac. All great apart from that.
- 5/5
Staff was super nice, room was very clean, and the price was perfect.
- 5/5
We were travelling with pets. We wanted to be downtown but most hotels have valet parking only which didn't work with our pets. The Jupiter offered secure garage parking under the hotel for a reasonable price. It is first come first serve but we were able to secure a spot on a Saturday stay. Downtown and Powell's book was an easy walk away. There was also a coffee roaster a couple of blocks away and some good restaurants. The hotel itself is so cute. There is great courtyard space for hanging out outside. The beds and pillows are comfortable. I worried we were checking into a dive but we loved this place. The coffee was out but they had it next door at The Jupiter Next which was easy.
- 5/5
Great location with easy access to music venues, shopping, restaurants and coffee shops. Loved the outdoor patio on the 5th floor. Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
In the center of everything. Places to eat less than a block away. Reasonably priced, very clean and welcoming staff.
- 3/5
No safe parking. Do not recommend the parking lot on 9th and Ankeny to guests. We parked there based on the recommendation from the front desk. Our car window was smashed in last night. Now instead of sightseeing, we get to drive to 82nd and pay $300 for a repair. Really ruined a nice vacation.
- 1/5
All parking was full when we arrived so we had to park on the street. That night our car got broken into. Do not come here if you are travelling with a a car.
- 5/5
The staff is always being so helpful!
- 5/5
This is by far the most underrated place in PDX. Staff is fantastic, rooms are great, property (both next and original) are perfect.
- 4/5
I love the ambience of the place
- 5/5
Don't know about how welcoming the hotel was to pets (have none). However, I really like staying at this hotel (I've stayed at the Jupiter/NEXT three times now). The staff is terrific and there are plenty of shops in the area. Some places are a little sketchy, but that is no fault of the hotel's , of course.
- 5/5
Great location, nice clean place for a fair price.
- 2/5
The very limited on-site parking and no ability to drop your belongings off to your room before finding public parking is a real pain in the ass. I’m sure the space is great for 23-year-olds looking to catch a show and get laid, but for being almost 50 we need a little bit more creature comforts. It would just be good if the hotel can post these things about mobility and accessibility issues.
- 4/5
No major complaints. the complimentary confirm was a little bit over the top, but it is the sort of place that has the safety of a new one in the back of my room to be in and
- 3/5
Also, on this particular stay, I did experience two particular issues during the visit. One, wake up call was not received as promised. Two, directly before checkout the toilet's plumbing decided to stop working and overflowed. As things went though was not enough to ruin the experience, especially because staff took it upon themselves to apologize and rectify the situation.
- 3/5
Great location, cool vibes once you are in. It lacks basic things like where to enter and check in or where to park, etc. —they are all a mystery when you roll up for the first time. Also, they rely too heavily on you using apps and your own cell phone to communicate with staff while you are a guest. I'd go back, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.
- 5/5
Perfect for dog parents
- 3/5
Just fine. The room itself is just a basic motel room with a quirky mural. Hot water in the shower was lukewarm. Fridge wasn’t turned on when we got there.
- 4/5
The staff was fantastic, the room was clean, the neighborhood is awesome. My only complaints are it's a bit noisy at night and the bed in our room (122) was WAY too soft for me, but that is a preference thing.
- 2/5
Let me begin by saying that the staff was incredibly kind, and were the only saving grace of the hotel. The issues: Upon arrival you actually check in at the NEXT which is just across the street and the sister hotel to Jupiter. Ok, fine, no big deal. The staff asked if I wanted to pay to upgrade from Jupiter to NEXT, which is odd because it was sold out weeks in advance online. I decided to stay where I was since I had done my research and it looked like a nice experience. Jupiter hotel looked and felt like a ghost town. Poorly lit at best, not a soul in sight, zero amenities...I mean zero. The room was fine, and felt clean-ish - just wasnt for me. And while I am sure it was safe, let me put it this way, if I was a female travelling solo, or simply someone who does not travel frequently - I would have felt unsafe. The restaurant and bar at the NEXT (because that is all there was) was closed to a friends and family event. They offered to serve me in the lobby - while generous, it felt awkward. All that to say, in all my research done prior to my stay, none of this showed up online, and nothing was communicated to me in advance. Guess I should have taken the upgrade.

Hour person at the front desk.

Staff super helpful and friendly! Clean room, nicely appointed, was very comfortable throughout our stay!
- 4/5
Staff was really friendly
- 4/5
Room was clean, and staff was friendly!
- 5/5
This is one of my favorite hotels. Nice clean rooms. Friendly staff. Great location.
- 5/5
The staff were wonderful and welcoming. The location was perfect for our visit and we could walk or transit everywhere we wanted to go. The room was comfortable and clean.
- 4/5
Room was clean and front desk staff were professional and friendly.
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable, I have stayed here multiple times and I always enjoy the simplicity and vintage vibe of the Jupiter.
- 5/5
Jupiter original rooms are small, cute, and clean. Yes, theres some niggt noise, it is a party neighborhood. Staff friendly, bar is excellent, optional welcome packages are hilarious.
- 1/5
yes, the room felt neglected and the staff was ok. this is my fault, i should have read the reviews thoroughly and on other platforms.
- 4/5
The double queen we had was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the had a nice size tv. Parking was extremely expensive though.
- 2/5
The front desk staff is terrible. With the room far from the front desk check-in, they did not even bother to tell me that there were no bottles of water in the room. And, although I was sitting at a lobby bistro table where people were getting served, after 20 minutes, I asked when someone would come over to help me, and they told me there was no table service. Then, the told me to order from the lobby bar, and it was closed. You have the laziest working on earth, and they do not care about hotel guests. They treated wak-in street guest better than they treated me.
- 5/5
Super clean room and attentive staff. Loved the secluded rooms and there was a courtyard as well you could hang out in right outside the rooms.
- 5/5
Amazing price and location. Will definitely stay here again. Only thing is I wish the curtains were thicker
- 5/5
Very Pleasant stay with my Wife for her birthday weekend . Thanks to management and staff for the hospitality.
- 5/5
Room clean, staff courteous and helpful! Free coffee in morning a huge plus!
- 5/5
Friendly front desk staff. Small room but very well layout for maximum space. Bathroom roomy and very clean.
- 4/5
Was a bit loud, no mini fridge and tv options limited.
- 3/5
This is a motel with no elevator and no parking space. Not a three-and-a-half-star hotel at all. Three and a half stars belonged to another hotel next to it called Next. When you check in they will offer you pay $50 to upgrade.
- 5/5
Great service, safe and secure parking lot, accommodated a complementary noon checkout (those blackout shades really worked), clean, and cute decor. Bed wasn’t great, but everything else was. Would stay again.
- 2/5
If you feel like staying in a tiny apartment with people building ikea furniture all around you all night this is the spot for you. Room was very clean which was nice but the walls were thin and you could easily hear every footstep and conversation. There are no staff on premise instead you needed to walk to another hotel for check-in and such. The hotel seemed to attract some weird guests who were up all night which perhaps explains the branded green condom they prominently displayed on the nightstand instead of bottled water or a basic alarm clock…
- 5/5
Nice time, quiet.
- 5/5
Great hotel and very friendly staff
- 5/5
We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel has great energy, ambiance and amenities. The bar in the jupier next was top notch. Staff were accommodating and helpful. We were able to walk to many bars and restaurants from our hotel. Only downside is limited parking. We plan to return frequently.
- 5/5
Clean room. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Bar is too crowded
- 5/5
Very funky and clean room!
- 5/5
Comfortable bed. Very clean. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
I stay here about half the time I’m in Portland.
- 5/5
Convenient location
- 4/5
Great stay. Be sure to pay for parking. 50/50 chance your car will be broken into. The hotel, neighborhood and local businesses are worth the stay. The Jupiter is old school, hipster vibe and a good deal for what you get.
- 2/5
The room was so far from the lobby. It was so noisy outside our room. Housekeeping didn’t speak English and kept knocking on my door while I was asleep. The people at the front desk didn’t seem to be happy to be there
- 5/5
The room was nice, the staff was friendly. I would stay here again.
- 4/5
Basic Motel, good price, no fridge in room, Shower is excellent.
- 5/5
The staff was beyond kind. They made our honeymoon very special!
- 5/5
First time here. Really cool. The front desk were really helpful
- 5/5
No microwave or small refrigerator, which was ok as we were here for a conference. Boutique hotel, interesting vibe. Clean and quiet.
- 5/5
The staff at the Jupiter hotel was great! Loved being able to access the patio at NEXT and the complimentary coffee was good. Very basic ammenities at the original Jupiter motel, smelled a bit musty and definitely needs an upgrade but it provided what i needed.
- 3/5
The hotel looked a lot better in pictures than in person. It is basically a motel. There is no phone in the room. The front desk is located in the Jupiter Next which is one block away so it is kinda inconvenient. You open the door and all you see is the top of the big tent where they sometimes host private events. All these little things made my stay felt very isolating and unwelcome. And it's pricey too. The only positive was the location because of the places I wanted to explore.
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
Room was clean. It was located in such a great neighborhood with walkable bars and restaurants.
- 5/5
Everything we needed for a night. Lots of food options in the immediate surroundings and very walkable. There were few parking options on the street and we opted for paid parking in the hotel garage ... absolutely worth the extra dollars.
- 4/5
There are two hotels, across the street from one another - the Original Jupiter and Next Jupiter. Took a while to determine were to check in and exactly which building we were in. We ended up staying in the Original Jupiter on ground floor. Insulation between floors is poor and we heard people on second floor above us partying and making noise until about 2:00 am.
- 5/5
Excellent all around.
- 4/5
Room is small and no frills, but cozy! It could have used a mini fridge, but beyond that, it's good. Recommended for the solo traveler.
- 5/5
One night - super friendly, efficient check-in, clean room with incredibly comfortable bed and blackout curtains. Conveniently located, walkable area. Loved everything about it! Would definitely come back!
- 2/5
Room felt damp the entire stay. The toilet dispenser fell off the wall and cut my wife's foot. One ice machine in the basement garage. No connectivity for streaming apps on TV not could you plug in a Fire stick because no TV remote was provided - only one for set top box. Very limited above ground parking ($15/nt) so we were forced to pay $30/not for underground parking. Air conditioner mounting meant cold air went directly on you if sitting up on bed.
- 4/5
Little loud at night if you get a room in the courtyard.
- 3/5
I was happy to have been able to stay in a historic hotel in Portland. The staff was friendly, I enjoyed my room and the service, but my biggest complaint is that it was hard to figure out how to work out some of the functions within the room (such as the privacy blinds and lighting fixtures) which led to me having to navigate my room in the dark and also walk past other guest's rooms and see a LOT more than I would have been comfortable with. Also, I wouldn't recommend this place for people who aren't traveling solo as the rooms are VERY small which was a bit deceiving from some of the images
- 2/5
Walls are paper thin and everything smelled like a cigarette. Not worth the price.
- 5/5
I had a wonderful time. The space is beautiful and staff are amazing. Thank you.
- 5/5
I wish there was the offered mini fridge at the Jupiter OG, but everything was delivered to our room when we needed it. Cool food and venue scene in surrounding areas. We visited Grendel's coffee shop every morning.
- 5/5
Was great
- 3/5
The original Jupiter is where we stayed. It's cute, accessible and clean. The room could use some attention. We didn't have hot water in the hand sink at all and the room itself could use a good clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would try a stay at their newer building next time.
- 4/5
Close to the venue realm
- 3/5
Snooty front staff :(
- 5/5
Had an amazing night, clean room, comfy bed. We will be back!!!
- 5/5
Super cute!
- 4/5
Loved the setting here
- 5/5
Additionally, the bar/restaurant Hey Love was great. Had dinner there twice and a brunch during the stay.
- 5/5
Awesome staff at the Jupiter.
- 5/5
Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Well located to experience all aspects of Portland.
- 3/5
Cool neighborhood, friendly staff, room could use a fridge and better tv options (streamers)
- 3/5
Parking is limited and tight. Beds are good, overall felt like a sex motel for some reason. Hard to get shampoo and conditioner out of the wall dispenser. AC is loud.
- 5/5
The room was unique, it had an artsy feel. It was clean and the bed was really comfortable. The outdoor patio area was nice. Enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere at Hey Love.
- 5/5
I was concerned about reviews re: noise so I asked to be on the 2nd floor. No issues. There was a wedding reception in the courtyard one of the nights but it ended right at quiet hours at 11. Actually added a pretty fun vibe to the stay. Will stay again for sure.
- 5/5
Perfect spot if you plan to be downtown and enjoy all Portland has to offer. Parking is tricky but the staff will direct you where to go.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
The discount for the nearby dispensary.
- 5/5
Good vibes and a cool little hangout
- 5/5
I love Portland. Neighborhood a bit funky but fun! Great food close by. The Jupiter is a very cool and well maintained place. Love hanging out in the courtyard on a warm summer evening. My choice for a place to stay in Portland.
- 5/5
We loved the cool and hip style of the hotel while staying for just one night on a college seeing road trip. Staff were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately they ran out of parking since we got there later, but we were able to easily find street parking.
- 4/5
It was affordable and accommodating. The beds were comfortable. They give a lot of pillows which is a huge bonus for my family. It’s conveniently located. Beautiful grounds. Loved the outdoor seating area and all the plants!! Staff was friendly and helpful. Only thing that kind of sucked was parking, but we figured it out and now know for next time. It’s a great option if you’re coming into town for a concert at the MODA.
- 3/5
Sadly we got placed in the old. It had one of those old ac window wall units that are so noisy I barely slept for two nights. A man with a knife walked past us shirtless by the building. Homelessness is a big problem in Portland. The room was pretty and clean but outdated. Parking will run you $10-30+ per night.
- 5/5
Nice location
- 5/5
Different, unique little hotel. Courtyards were great
- 5/5
A must stay when in Portland
- 5/5
Awesome place to stay, will always stay here when going to Portland
- 4/5
No marked location to park for check in.
- 4/5
there was some good food options nearby
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
It was nice to check in with a great staff person and the walk right into a nice restaurant.
- 4/5
The only issue I had was parking, everything else was great!
- 5/5
Just what i needed
- 5/5
Everything about this property is unique. Amazing Dream Box. Love Hey Love. - Hold til Jupiter.
- 4/5
We enjoyed the unique character of the property. The restaurant/bar was fantastic. Great food and very friendly staff.
- 4/5
Everything is great here, except if you stay on the motel side, anyone above, you is incredibly loud!
- 4/5
Fun and hip, great outdoor seating areas, convenient location. Restaurant/bar was excellent. Lobby staff could have been more welcoming, but the housekeeping staff were very nice. Room was clean but smelled swampy. Could have used a deeper clean. Upstairs guest was very noisy, could hear every step they took until late at night. Once they went to bed it was quiet. A mini fridge would have been nice.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly, room was clean, AC was great, beds were comfy.
- 4/5
The initial room we were in had a barking dog in the room next to ours
- 4/5
The cold water tap was lukewarm and not cold for some reason
- 4/5
I was charged an extra day but it was corrected right away.
- 5/5
Nice hotel in a convenient location.
- 5/5
Our stay was exceptional. The staff were incredibly helpful. The property is cool AF. It was everything we wanted to capture the essence of one of our favorite cities.
- 5/5
Perfect place to stay for a show downtown! Chill vibes, easy access and friendly staff! Chalk doors sealed it for us!
- 3/5
Normal amenities one would expect for this level of hotel and cost were not present in the room. Things like an iron, mini fridge, places to put your clothes. There was strange odor right outside the door to the room and a few insects in the room itself. Staff however was great. Friendly and accommodating at all times.
- 3/5
The Jupiter is a motel with some makeup
- 3/5
Dated, room poorly lit, AC was noisy.

For being in the heart of Portland, this property is perfect! The underground parking was a luxury that we were very thankful for because we could leave our camping gear in the back without fear of theft. The property is well maintained and the staff was so kind and helpful for us out of towners.
- 5/5
I love this place!
- 5/5
Loved staying here! Great vibes & the rooms are awesome!
- 5/5
Great stay 👍 the staff were helpful and nice. Street parking is free on the weekends!
- 2/5
Don't be fooled by the fancy-looking wallpaper, the Jupiter hotel is a very overpriced budget hotel at best. Absolutely zero amenities except an ice bucket with no lid. Hotel has no lobby (you check in at the adjacent hotel) and has no microwaves, no mini-fridge, no vending, no coffee makers. They only have $30/day paid parking, which was sold out, so be prepared to circle the block for street parking. And I'm not kidding when I say the rooms are so small, there is no place to set a small suitcase except on the floor blocking your path. We crawled around to find outlets for two phones and wound up unplugging a lamp. Rooms were decently clean and beds were fine. By comparison, there is a clean budget hotel right across the street that offers free parking, microwaves, mini-fridge and even a small closet/luggage area for half the price.
- 5/5
I love this place so much! I will definitely be staying here again when I come to Portland!
- 4/5
Love the vibe. I am an aging hippie and want safety bars to get in and out of the bath. Thanks
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Loved the chalk board doors.
- 4/5
Only downside was that the rooms have absolutely no noise insulation, so when someone is on the balcony outside, it sounds like they are in your room. We had a group come back at 4am and could hear everything they were saying and doing. Not a reason we wouldn't stay again, but something to be mindful of if you're a light sleeper and/or have kiddos.
- 3/5
The room was cute, and small as expected.
- 3/5
Motel 6 qualities and the staff was unfriendly.
- 2/5
This hotel is cute however we were traveling with two kids and it seems like it has a particular sex vibe. There were two condoms on the side table (branded for the hotel) and sexual innuendos on things like the Cleaning magnet that goes on the door "All tied up". Totally cool with sex positive environments however traveling with our kids- it made me nervous on noise of other rooms around us and luckily the hotel was quiet but I can imagine there is a pretty rawdy scene on the weekends (there was what looked like an outdoor bar below our room). Def wouldn't recommend for families.
- 5/5
Really lovely place with very friendly staff. secure underground parking at a reasonable price. Stylish room and very nice common area. Looks as good as the pictures.
- 5/5
You wouldn’t know it to look at it, but it’s a very, very nice place to stay. I like the fact that I was able to put my motorcycle in secured parking.
- 5/5
Everything was elegant and Homey
- 4/5
It was a nice stay with pleasant staff. I’m glad I paid for garage parking as it’s limited on the street. A microwave and fridge in the room would have been a nice perk.
- 4/5
It was clean and staff were great. Room was very small and our shower head leaked water out of the shower onto the floor
- 5/5
Cool hotel in a decent area. We were just there for a night but we were very comfortable. It has a cool, fun vibe that we really enjoyed. Great value for the money! The main building has a bar, coffee, and a nice fifth floor outdoor space both nice views.
- 5/5
Clean. Quiet (!). Courteous staff, real glass water glasses, comfortable mattress...a bathtub! Non-like: sharp edges on concrete steps to 2nd floor rooms; hard to locate outlets by bed. Parking was a bit complicated as to when I returned from an event, there were no parking spaces though I had paid. Pretty much the result of 'bad parking' by giant cars in the small lot. Ethan said just go to parking garage as there were a couple empty spaces there. Thanks, Ethan!. Parking space is tiny though! Oh yes, and the chalkboard door was fun!
- 4/5
A very cute and modern stay. Easy to access the parking garage. Room was nicely decorated. Lacked a few basics, like fridge, microwave, full length mirror. The blackout shade worked well. My biggest issue was thin walls—I could hear everyone who walked by and the residents above me walking around. But all in all, a nice stay for one night.
- 3/5
I imagine the days when the Doug Fir Lounge was open Jupiter hotel was a great place to stay. For a stay in Portland to see the town I think there are better places the area around the hotel is relatively walkable, but the sidewalks are not as clean as I would’ve liked
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
I stayed at the Jupiter for 2 reasons: it is walkable to Revolution Hall (concert venue) and it offers EV charging. It was the perfect location. There are several great restaurants across the street. The hotel itself is not fancy, but the AC worked (weirdly hot day) and the bed was comfy. There is no coffee in the room, but they have coffee in the lobby. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Exceptional location, close to many of my favorite venues.
- 4/5
Comfortable & stylish
- 5/5
Cool spot. Central location. A lot to do within a walkable area. Complimentary coffee was tasty.
- 4/5
Id definition recommend Jupiter to anyone passing through the area.
- 4/5
However, the hotel's older section are renovated rooms. It still had a dated feel, and the hallway-facing windows meant constant noise from passing guests and loud neighbors. If peace and quiet are a priority, this may not be the best fit.
- 5/5
Love the location, friendly staff and love the underground garage for safe parking. Room could use a mini fridge and kept finding spiders crawling around.
- 4/5
We had a great time, staff was amazing and friendly, bar was awesome, loved the outdoor patio area, beds were comfy. Only issue with our stay was that the shower in our room did not drain. Staff immediately offered that we move rooms even though it was 11:30 or so at night, which was greatly appreciated, but the shower in our second room wasn't great either and had a wobbly floor.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved it all. Fun, funky, clean, and comfy! My wife and I had a memorable time and will tell all our friends back in KC.
- 5/5
Quick stay on our cross country road trip. Room was cute and the bed was comfortable. Location was perfect. You do need to pay for parking.
- 5/5
I upgraded to the new NEXT building and loved the fact that I could pop down to Hey Love for dinner and a drink to take back to my room with me. Everyone was so nice and the locked parking was well worth the extra money.
- 2/5
Under the guise of being cool retro kitsch, it's a lot more like someone just bought a Motel 6 and changed the sign. The room smelled like it had a mildew problem that someone tried to cover up with some kind of air-freshener. When I came in and the bedside lamp didn't work, I wondered if that was maybe part of the retro-charm of the place. Almost as if you had actually stepped into a third rate motel in 1978. Big bulky plastic air-conditioner that kind of resembled a GMC car of the period.I'm curious to compare to the actual Motel 6?
- 1/5
I had a reservation here but there was crazy homeless outside screaming violently and the whole area looked really bad that I decided to not stay, i lost out on money but I don't care money is not worth possibly losing my life walking into the building.
- 5/5
Super clean, staff were helpful and friendly,
- 5/5
Nice place. Would stay again.
- 3/5
This Hotel use to be cool, there was a restaurant and bar, and it use to have charm. Now what does it offer? Over priced for a sad shell of what it was. Stay across the street at the Eastside Lodge. Just as clean, better prices, and free parking.
- 5/5
Absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommended! Great people.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- 5/5
Central location and easy
- 2/5
I didn't realize with the new Jupiter building how the old one is now a sad shell of what it used to be. Felt like staying in abandoned motel—everything was worn down and since the Doug Fir is no longer on the premise, it just felt like a memory of all the great Portland stays I used to have there. So bummed this hasn't been kept up better—it has such potential like the old days.
- 4/5
We really enjoyed this hotel !
- 3/5
More.of a Motel. Beds are smaller than what you expect. Not really a lot of amenities. Good price for value though
- 5/5
Nice location & friendly staff.
- 5/5
Great stay for a show at moda.
- 5/5
It was the perfect stay
- 4/5
Pretty decent. City street and hallway outside was a tad noisy but it was fine.
- 5/5
Very unique and fun hotel. Parking on the street isn’t easy so we paid for the parking in the hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel. I'd absolutely stay there again. Cute room, great service, and convenient area.
- 5/5
Cool place!
- 5/5
Enjoyed easy parking, friendly check-in, comfortable bed, and clean rooms.
- 1/5
Clean
- 5/5
Overall very nice for the cost!
- 4/5
Property was very clean. Area around hotel felt unsafe with all the homeless sleeping around hotel property. Was a bit taken back by finding a hotel condom in our room. Felt a little restless sleeping knowing our room was probably a porno backdrop. Wil choose ankther hotel in Portland next time.
- 5/5
Great comfortable stay! Convenient location for all activities! Definitely staying with this location again.
- 5/5
Even though this is an older property, everything was very up to date and comfortable. Very clean, garage was very safe.
- 3/5
The staff was very nice. They were nice enough to upgrade us to a larger room when the first one was found to be too small. The hotel is nice enough although it's old and the floors are creaky. There were no drawers to put your clothes in and just a metal towel rack to hang clothes. No iron/board. The mattress was not that comfortable. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything inside and out.
- 5/5
It was exactly what I had envisioned.
- 3/5
I had a room on the first floor, it was extremely loud with the hotel speakers outside playing music. The A/C heater unit was very old and loud as well. Clean room and very kind/friendly staff.
- 5/5
I stayed here in 1996 while traveling across the country the summer after I graduated from college. Thought the place was awesome. 24 years later, still awesome and then some. I had a great time, again! Thank you.
- 1/5
Staff was rude and impatient during check-in, people upstairs had multiple dogs and were loud well into the night, and our car was broken into in their paid parking. Would never go here again and regret having done so once.
- 5/5
My go to for when I go to Portland
- 5/5
Front desk staff is exceedingly cordial and helpful. Nice rooms. The restaurant, Hey Love, is great with reasonably priced entrees.
- 5/5
Cute area. Clean room. Not super friendly staff when we checked in but didn't really need staff assistance during stay. We had a weird tub in that it felt like it wasn't seated correctly so it was a bit like showering on a balance board.
- 2/5
First time staying at Jupiter. Often stayed across the street at Eastside Lodge. Thought Jupiter would be a step up from Eastside. I was wrong. Room to small. Bed was a double (not a queen) and super uncomfortable. Bad David Bowie rendering on the wall. Staff were arrogant, which is ridiculous for a $90/night stay. No fridge, only 1 night stand. The positive: it was quiet and the complimentary coffee was decent.
- 3/5
Large difference before NEXT and the OG. OG wifi connection was very weak, difficulty with communicating with reception in the lobby (over at NEXT) based on no phones in the room, relying on cell phone access for communication (we’re from out of country and couldn’t text or call to communicate with hotel).
- 5/5
It was nice
- 5/5
I love this hotel and staff are very helpful.
- 5/5
Underground parking, for reasonable fee. Close to multiple concert venues.
- 5/5
The property is actually broken up into two separate buildings. My original room was for the older property which I didn’t really care for, I’m not a snob, but I could tell it was a crappy hotel at one point but had been remodele. I was able to change rooms to the newer property, which was very nice and modern or had one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept on away from home.
- 5/5
Money worth
- 5/5
Great location. The bar is amazing and Sunday brunch delicious. Loved our stay.
- 5/5
I loved every minute of my stay I highly recommend it
- 5/5
The room was clean. I love the courtyard area! Staff was super friendly.
- 5/5
I checked in at the Jupiter Next hotel and then took a short walk to my accommodations. If you have large luggage, I recommend requesting a room on a lower floor, as there are no elevators. The attached restaurant features friendly staff, and I enjoyed the weekly special—Kale Salad with roasted cauliflower—which was absolutely delicious!
- 4/5
Nice comfy rooms, well thought out and maintained!
- 5/5
The tv in our room was broken and they made it right by giving us a new room. Would reccommend!
- 5/5
It was an updated motel. Felt clean and nice. Wish the lobby tables were available to guests all times
- 5/5
Nice place, friendly staff, good location.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 3/5
Staff knew of the large outdoor party directly adjacent to my room. Instead of blocking it, they placed me there. Upon check in, front desk told me there were a few rooms in the room class I reserved and asked if I had a preference. I said I did not and they put me in a room next to both the utility closet and an outdoor party. I had to take my friends to the airport at 3:30 am, so I was in bed early. Called the front desk when I was awakened by the loud noise of moving BBQ equipment. The front desk encouraged me to hang in there because the BBQ was almost over and the live band should not be too disturbing. They promised to make a note to my file so that if I called a second time they would have a record and could move me. The band played on and I kept waiting for things to get better. As each hour passed, I was that much closer to wake up time and the thought of moving rooms seemed like an increasingly overwhelming task for less payback (sleep). As I was getting up at 3:15, I notified front desk via text of the really bad night. Told them I had previously notified staff. They offered earplugs and a 2 pm check out. By 3:15 am it was quiet, so no earplugs needed and I had to get on the road by 11. I appreciate the efforts of staff. I recommend blocking room 129 at the original property when outdoor events are scheduled.
- 4/5
Super cute place. The Jupiter is a little small, but not over priced at all. Hey love has great drinks!
- 5/5
So cute! Staff was amazing, great experience and will stay again!
- 4/5
Very conveniently located on the east side of Portland. We were able to walk most places we had on our itinerary. The room was small and dark, but clean. If you’re looking for slightly newer and a step up, book Jupiter Next next door. We enjoyed our stay and would come again!
- 4/5
Room was a little old but the property is cute. We were allowed early check in and on check out day the front desk held our bags so we could go out for lunch after checking out. Front desk lady was so nice
- 1/5
Noted on site pet friendly with no mention of being charged. No phone in room. Noted parking available no mention of being charged . Heater very loud. Woke up 3 times with someone practicing drums. Called front desk acted as they did not believe me. First time I have had a condom on night stand in any hotel I’ve stayed in. No remote for tv. Very disappointed with stay. Will not be using hotel.com in future.
- 5/5
We always love staying here. It’s slightly older/small but the price relects that. It’s always super clean and so comfortable. Underground secure parking is only $30. This is our go to for an affordable Portland stay!
- 4/5
It was a comfortable and clean space. There is a restaurant on site and it is located near a number of restaurants as well as a grocery store. I wish that all the rooms had refrigerators; only the ones on the updated portion had them.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a good location.
- 4/5
Only small complaints would be that our room in particular felt rather small , crammed and worn compared to other rooms there sold for same price (rm128) … hardly any room besides king bed and bathtub had big rust stain which made me not want to wash our toddler in it . Also wish there was a space more dedicated to just hotel guests to hang, particularly in the morning, or a way to get a drink more easily than dealing with restaurant crowds … by pictures i thought the space would be more accessible as a guest .
- 3/5
Room was very tiny and I noticed a lot of mold on the curtains.
- 3/5
This property was a good location, but the motel style portion needs some love! The door didn’t seem to close fully, the shower had water trapped under the tub so it felt like you were standing on a water bed while showering and there was brown liquid dripping from the bathroom exhaust fan. The decor in the room was cute and the beds were comfortable. I would not recommend this for traveling with children, as there were complementary condoms on the nightstand… Making me think that perhaps they may rent hourly!
- 4/5
Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was not great, outdated. Noise came through the walls and ceiling.
- 5/5
Love how it's close all the events i come to portland for
- 5/5
Great district for shopping, eating and convenient to the expressway.
- 1/5
I had my son with me, it was pouring rain and I paid for parking. We called the front desk and they were slightly rude, lack empathy and seemed to be about the party. They do not put it out there that still is pretty much a club/bar, so families beware. We had to find a new hotel and they refuse a. refund.
- 5/5
Really enjoy staying at this hotel.
- 4/5
It was a tiny clean and neat room and the location is great. I probably wouldn’t stay here again though. I was disappointed by the lack of mini fridge and paying extra to park seems a bit stingy especially for the price of the room. Overall it was an okay experience. I really like the courtyard space and the feel of the place.
- 5/5
What a beautiful place to stay so many great upgrades and improvements.
- 2/5
Central location. Very old motel that they have tried to modernize. Tiny rooms.
- 5/5
Great spot for young travelers.
- 5/5
Wonderful!
- 4/5
This property was in great condition. Very unique. The rooms are small but clean and the beds are comfortable. I wish there was a fridge, micro, and coffee pot in the room, but there was guest coffee just across from our room from 8 am to 11 am. The other guests were very loud in the middle of the night. This is a place that was convenient for a couple of shows that were going on in the neighborhood. It was very reasonably priced. Overall, the stay was good.
- 5/5
This place is amazing, the vibe is immaculate
- 4/5
The room was cute but definitely a little small. Free coffee was great in the morning and the maze to the ice machine was entertaining. Loved the proximity to everything and Lyfts were always within 2 minutes of the hotel.
- 4/5
Great food and drinks at the hotel bar!
- 5/5
Super comfy, super clean, super cute! Felt very safe on my solo trip in Portland! Would definitely stay again!
- 3/5
AC was too noisy. You can hear conversations from other guests.
- 3/5
Convenient area to stay in and parking availability was good. Down fall was the room was not very sound proof. Awakened by loud, drunk guests talking outside the room at 2:30am and could hear neighbours talking fairly clearly through the wall.
- 5/5
The service was awesome. We felt very welcomed and even though we were staying at the original, they made it very clear we were just as welcome to hang out at the bar, in the lobbies and even out on the deck they have over at the Jupiter Next! We had a beautiful outdoor area right outside our room that was covered and had plenty of comfortable seating. Underground parking was absolutely worth it, super easy and we felt very safe. This hotel exceeded our expectations and was extremely affordable. We will be staying again anytime we are traveling through the area. The staff were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and more.
- 5/5
The Jupiter Hotel & Hey Love Team were phenomenal. Highly recommend a stay and a visit!
- 3/5
It’s very important to understand which side of the Jupiter Hotel you are staying at. I wasn’t clear when booking and ended up on the motel side of the property. It’s run down and doesn’t feel as luxurious as the pictures look online. You enter/exit straight to the outdoors and the lobby, bar, and reception are across the street. Also, very odd that we had a Jupiter-branded condom “gift” next to our bed.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service. Great location and interesting property
- 5/5
Unique hotel/motel in Portland ~ close to thrift shopping, great restaurants
- 5/5
Great staff here! We came with a group, and everyone was comfortable in their rooms. We loved leaving the car in the garage and walking everywhere. The restaurant next door (Hey Love) has lots of great options (vegan to meaty) with a great bar. Had a blast. Will return.
- 4/5
Close to moda center
- 4/5
The restaurant was the best part.
- 2/5
We chose this place because they offered parking and had heard good things from friends. At check in we were told that they did have parking but they just sold their last spot- why would you say something like that to tired travelers who just shower up? Just say parking not available! Also they said that our room wasn't available for early check in because the cleaners were running late. They offered us another room for $20 more but we were fine to wait. However- when we got in the room it was facing a dumpster, the floor had dirt on it and the comforter was stained with red or pink dots and had crumbs or sand all over. When trying to take a shower we unfolded the towel and a black beetle like bug fell out and scurried away. If we were going to be there longer I would have complained but something tells me they wouldn't have cared. We are headed home to disinfect and wash everything!
- 1/5
Calling this a "Hotel" is a complete misnomer. There are two properties, a hotel and then a motel also called Jupiter Hotel. When booking through Expedia, one is not aware where the room will be (also not visible from the photos). Prices for rooms are similar, which should definitely not be the case. Here is a short list of issues for our hotel-priced room at $170/night in the motel section: Very noisy from the outside; Musty on the inside, causing allergies; Dirty grout on bathroom tiles in shower and below; Very small room, can hardly turn around; No coffee, refrigerator, iron, etc.; 30 year old cheap shower fixtures; Light switch on bed lamp has to be jiggled to work; Old fashioned air conditioner in wall close to bed that is very noisy when running. Our allergies got the best of us in the musty room, we actually checked out for the second night and booked a different hotel. The room was prepaid, so no refund, but we rather spent the money on a legitimate hotel room for our second night. Don't stay in this 1950's motel!
- 4/5
However, there was a wedding reception right outside of our room door that lasted several hours and was very loud. I wish they had mentioned it at check in, would have opted for different room.
- 4/5
I wish that thre had been a landline phone in the room since my cell phone wasn't working and there was no way to contact my traveling companion is other room. The clerks at the front desk were pleasant and helpful..
- 5/5
I loved the room with the big window. Great location!
- 5/5
The bed and pillows are so comfortable that it made me hate my bed at home! enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
Not bad. I wish they had smoke-free rooms policy so that the rooms are not so smelly.
- 4/5
This hotel has a unique charm and character that makes it stand out. The staff are helpful. Around the hotel, there are plenty of interesting restaurants and bars, making it a perfect spot for both relaxation and exploration. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable experience!
- 5/5
Lovely plave with bright murals painted in the rooms. Had to have been the comfiest bed ive slept on. Will book again!
- 5/5
Great location, room had everything we needed and we really appreciated the 100% pet friendly reality. Also love that there's a bar on site. The jojos were great!
- 5/5
Always comfortable
- 2/5
The housekeeper entered our room at 9am when we were still in bed. Knocked once then barged In immediately. It was very uncomfortable.
- 2/5
The housekeeper knocked once and entered our room at 9am while we were still in bed. Didn’t give us enough time to stay “don’t enter”. It was very embarrassing and extremely uncomfortable.
- 5/5
This has been an amazing stay.
- 4/5
Overall great stay and value for the price paid.
- 5/5
Great location, Great property, Great vibes, Great food, Great hotel!
